My predictions after southsun is over: karka shells up, powerful blood up, scales up, dust drop and ectos up.
Simply because a majority of players farm them or stop doing so. Nothing shady or Arenanets doings going on.
I know that they are not affected by it what i meant is that those chests drop pretty decent stuff as well and since many people do it it means that the market gets flooded with rares and ectos. This in addition to the MF buff is the cause for the rapid decrease in ecto prices.
Well as i wrote the thread i knew about the mf buff on SSC but what i didn’t know is that it is a 200% buff and that the instigator event is repeatable every 5 min O.o
So far it looks like ecto prices will drop very rapidly as well as lvl 75+ rares. I don’t kknow if this might effect the precursor prices but atm it seems like they’ll rise again.
Offtopic: the cthulhu backpack is awesome :P
I guess soldiers is going up in price because people try to transmute the new bp skins to have actually useful stats lol.
Lol if you don’t want to do it for daily simply don’t do it… ne need to get all hyped up
Listing fee is 5% selling fee is 10% they add up to a 15% tax, 5% of which you have to pay to put it on the tp and another 10 if it sells.
example: Leeks have a merchant price of 7c, you’re talking about people placing buy orders at 8c? yes, the person filling that order loses money compared to if they sold to a vendor. why do they do it? so they don’t have to consider the option of selling to a merchant, which saves them time. or their bag is full and in the middle of a dungeon. or they don’t know any better.
it sounds more like you’re asking: why do people place these orders to buy the things at 1c above merchant value? well, they don’t plan on selling it to the merchant. most things are usable, like leeks are used to craft stuff. others can be salvaged and the mats are worth more. or maybe speculation.
personally, I’ve bought like 10 stacks (2500) of superior sigils at 1c above the merchant value. if Anet updates the game to allow these to be forged into random sigils, then they will be worth maybe 40s each (a 1160% profit after TP tax = 787g profit) If they never do, I can always sell them to a merchant for a total loss of 25s. If I don’t need the gold in the meantime, it’s almost no risk and possible huge payout.
Lol! Mystic that is brilliant O.o
Yeah that’s for sure they’ll drop down anywhere from 50c – 2s. It will be a good long term investment.
Totally forgot about the future gem items that might be worth investing… suprisingly the t6 mats didn’ t drop as much as i thought, blood at least is quite stable.

We made sure to allow enough achievements so that if folks who didn’t want to do PvP or jump puzzles would still be able to get the full meta achievement completed, and get the backslot items (we did that for the sample collection as well, only requiring 10 of the 11 samples to complete the achievement since one of them is more difficult to get to than others)
Everyone likes different things, so we try to make a little something for everyone. Its okay not to like something, just don’t do it. There’s still plenty of stuff on the island to do, and more to come in the weeks ahead.
That is a really thoughtful decision and it makes the game for the average casual and many other people more fun.
But what about the hardcore gamers? I’m done with 27 avhievements atm since i suppose you can’t get the other ones (i’m missing one crab toss achiev). Although i wouldn’t call myself a hardcore gamer i was able to complete 25 achievs in under 3 hours. Won’t we get rewarded furher than that?
Honestly i don’t see the problem…
I am an ele and hopefully don’t get “misleaded by the title”. Your argument seems to state that you get constantly CCed and that the game is therefor not fun for you (or at least particular areas in SSC).
Please explain it to me: i have been on SSC very often but i have yet to be “stun-locked”. Wind Riders have barely any CC at all. They have a very high life pool and the boon steal is really annoying but if you can blind them once in a while they are no threat because of their low attack speed.
Drakes are annoying, only way to fight them is to outrange them.
Young Karka are easy. Very glassy and if you evade/dodge/reflect their initial attack spike they go down very quickly.
Adult karka are a bit more annyoing (i’m talking about you double stomper) but they are doable aswell. Melee is bit more challenging and dangerous imho so i prefer to range them. The rolling karka are hilarious! It’s so easy to predict it’s funny. A little advice: If they start evading take a step back, heal up and be ready to dodge since something nasty is about to come. Having said that you can usally advance one or two seconds later without a risk.
Those are the first mobs that are challenging not due to their ridicolous amount of health and dangerous auto attacks but because of their briefly animated strong skills, which quite frankly make it a real challenge, at least more than any other trashmob does atm.
Pls don’t ruin it and let arenanet believe that they did something bad with your hate posts!
There is no “best” weapon set. Especially in PvE. If you run CoF for example offhand dagger or staff are awesome. Mixed with zerker gear and you are good.
For CM you should go focus and take supportive accessories.
It really depends on how you play and what you are doing. Celestial is a really good stat combination for ele because right after engineer we are the best class to profit from it. The thing is that you really don’t need everything in PvE. Condition dmg is useless for eles and the only build to make it somehow work is S/D glyph.
I myself like to go for half zerker/ half celestial because it is more durable than zerker only and it provides more crit dmg i believe.
For the beginning and sPvP i advise you to go for 30 water and a cantrip build. We have awesome AoE dmg but our stats are the worst compared to all the other classes.
They are obtainable in the supply crates for sure (droprate unknown but seemingly low).
Don’t know about bltc though. Suppose not.
The thing is that that ascended backpiece is really easy to get and cheap to craft. And it looks good :P
Might be wrong about precursors. Sellers could fear anothet karka chest and the fear could lead them to panic sell.
Really curious how it will turn out.
A new update has been brought to us! And what does that mean? New price spikes and drops that can be very entertaining and profitable.
The mats that changed/ will change the most:
Karka Shell
Passion Flower
Vial of powerful blood
Karka shells and passion flowers will drop in an unimaginable amount. I already kind of predicted that powerful blood will go down but since i need mine for my legendary instead of selling them i just decided to gather my money until they drop even further.
About ectos: Although the MF buff makes it incredibly easy to farm ectos, they are also required to upgrade your cthulhu back piece so i suppose they will stay on 25-30s.
Passion Flowers are definitly going to drop due to the rather low demand and the supply spike becausw of the blooming passion flowers.
Karka shell is self explainatory.
Those are my predictions. What are your thoughts on the market fluctuations and how the market will develop? I belive that since the majority of players can now make much money really easily the prices of high end items (precursors, legendarys, unique MF items, …) will increase while the rather commen things like t6 mats anf or ectos will get cheaper.
~Lucas of the Desert
If i got the opportunity i’ll go ahead and ask a question: how do you farm the t6 mats effectively atm?? Farming southsun seems a little bit boring to me since i get around 3 powerful per hour invested along with other drops ofc bit that seems to take long..
Ectos are easy to get, especially compared to how you got them 4 months ago. But t6 mats are really expensive and using laurels is a waste i figuered… :/
I honestly don’t think i can give you any tips on rushing your legendary :P been working on it since the karka event and i am soon done with it :P if you are a casual gamer and hate grinding cof all the time it will most likely take you that long xD
Maybe get some more tips from firegoth since he has like… 4 or 5 legendaries already? :P
I can only agree with using GoS (Glyph of Storms)! In earth it allows you to blind your targets almost constantly and if that is not enough try to run S/F. You can nuke with dragons and phoenix at the same time. Get an arcabe blast off and use earth 5 if necessary. That should be enough to deal with every PvE situation you’ll encounter (not GL :P )
We actually do have a dev for the ele forums? O.o
Definitly +1 !!!!! Glitches are the most awesoem and scariest things in the gaming world! They allow us to look behind the graphical user interface and see what really lies behind! A direct look at the code which could just aswell destroy our save codes or kill oir progress!
The most exciting and thrilling experience there is just like the time we managed to get velow rata sum to the ground level and discover the polymock area ;D
Have been a main ele since the very first beta.
As far as i see it: no changes in PvE. Seriously that doesn’t effect us at all.
In PvP: seems like a weird way around it. I don’t think the D/D bunker will die from this update though. Since RTL works the way like before our mobility isn’t impaired, we can escape dire situations just like before.
Mistform nerf hits hard. That’s the only thing that really hurts. Unfortunately “normal” eles suffer the same pain.
Nerfing the “cantrips recharge 20% faster” would have ended the D/D rampage. This update will just make it slightly more difficult to fight as an ele.
Eles do have many builds possible. The problem is that nothing beats the current D/D bunker hybrid ele. It has probably the best survivability in game and can be considered OP since a good one is impossible to kill.
Other builds however can in no way live up to those expectations. High dmg is only achieveable with spamming auto attack on lightning hammer or fiery gs and scepter/staff have too unrelieable dmg sources to be considered in PvP.
Just to be clear: i hate it when people say there have to be guild battles because the game is called Guild Wars.
That is simply not true! The game is called Guild Wars because of the wars the guilds fought ages ago!
Having said that… it really sucks that they haven’t included GvG >.< it was so awesome in GW1
@tolunart you can’t make an infinite amount of money… as soon as people are able to trade there will be some that figure what items are worth more than others and start making an income.
GW2 is very nice that way because it allows all players to play the market equally. It’s extremly hard to flip high value items because of the listing fees and the tp in total is very noob-friendly and fair. If you discover a niche and earn some money from it others will notice it and compete with you —> the niche becomes worthless.
To the above poster: not 60-80… keep adding zeros to those numbers ^^
Sigh…. there have been countless threads about this already… please just stop it. There is no large manipilation or “mafia”! It’s just players knowing how to use a calculator and gw2spidy. If there’s an easy method to gain gold fast players will compete until it is no more.
Post done.
Well some people do however ^^
The problem with introducing new methods of obtaining stiff is that already present content will get ignored. If you would make them buyable every single player will farm coe speed clears. You just substituted a problem with a new problem.
I don’t think they will do that. Running all 3 paths of CoE almost always (and on average surely does) grant you at least 1 core, which is already a possibility to farm. In addition you get at least 1,5g which makes another core.
I know i don’t like these random chances either but it is just fair and provides a stability to the game. Everything else would just make things messy.
Low level eles are almost always glassy, at least from what i experienced. In s/tPvP 90% run 0/10/0/30/30 or 25 in air^^ We eles possess huge burst and high dmg abilities but lack survivability.
Use a dagger offhand for pve it’s our strongest weapon! You guys could check daphoenix’s D/D build out he has an awesome guide to get you started.
I measure my gold production by the week (which is like 3 or 4, maybe). What part of the word game is about making an income?
It might not appeal to you but some people consider trading fun. Furthermore you can earn things by actual thinking instead of farming cof straight for 2 months^^ i participate in every aspect of the game but the truth is that you earn no where near as much if you farm cof or do some trading :P
I actually like the idea of them disappearing after the event. Might turn into a funny scenario ^^
At the Mad queen malafide: tge purpose is obvious O.o they want to discourage endless running and chasing. You could easily outrun mobs and so on… but you are right i dislike it too :P
At Healix: Well i hope you mind my uneducated question because i really have no idea how an engine works or what restrictions it is bound by but: why not use a simple if-loop to prevent players under SAB transformation to suffer movementspeed debuff?
They should just wait until the end of the month when SAB goes away to manipulate prices. I’m pretty sure the gs skin will jump to 46 gold without the help of manipulators.
Still too risky. SAB will come back, maybe not next month but who knows when?? If you stock them up and it returns you’ll be sitting on a huge junk of weapons you can only sell at a loss.
It’s not worth it and like i said: it’s so much easier to just grind those bauble bubbles.
I think the playerbase recognized how good looking they are and demand has gone up. I belive that they will drop soon^^ (i’m at least now farming SAB in order to sell the skins )
If we assume that a bunch of people try to manipulate the price rather than many people wanting the skins, the manipulators are not being very skilled. Usally you try to drive the price of goods that are limited in supply or at least hard to get.
Neither is the case here. I doubt people would be willing to pay 30g for a skin you can get through faming 2 days max. O.o
It could also just be a coincidence. Maybe there really are so many people that like these skins… but hey, it’s our profit
That’s funny why can’t you deactivate the movement debuff upon combat? Is this part of the GW2 engine or caused by something different?
I know you are the wrong person to ask but i’m getting more and more experienced in programming © and such issues really do spark my interest
Edit2: i meant C the programming language but you appearantly can’t use brackets like that.
Edit: Maybe there are some programmers/game developers in our community that could awnser my question? :0
(edited by Lucas of the Desert.2165)
Agreed.
I thought having a devs name in the topic is against the code of conduct? Nevermind.
Josh you and your team are awesome! (They should get credit too )
Atm 9g a few mats and 60 charged cores away from my legendary^^ i’ve been flipping items every now and then but not many and always without risks^^ i’d say my main income comes from CoE and fractal farming though :P
I could have completed it earlier but unfortunately i have only 1-2h per day and i find myself wasting most of my time fooling around with my guild or giving newcomers advices like how to craft stuff xD (most asked question by far :P )
Edit: i mean i got 9g and i need the other stuff for my legendary ^^
(edited by Lucas of the Desert.2165)
My opinion on it: i wouldn’t label flipping as “bad”. I even believe that it doesn’t have anything to do with moral in any sense.
If i decide to buy ectos, let’s say 250 for a mystic forge weapon and suddenly i don’t like to acquire the weapon anymore i am stuck with my ectos. If a new patch introduces new weapon skins that require ectos and therefore their price spikes, does it make me a bad person if i sell them? I think not O.o
It’s really as simple as buying an item and reselling it. If you wait 3 weeks and resell it, even 3 hours, you are not a bad person or a market manipulator, you are simply selling to a person who needs those items for that price.
You are actually doing him a favour because if he wouldn’t have bought yours then he would have to buy them for an even higher price.
I’ll gladly learn how that makes someone a bad person
It’s 1 in 50.
Wow O.o thanks man!
I’m actually buffled a little after getting such an awesome response thanks!
Unbiased?? I think not xD. The majority doesn’t even use forums and only those with a good reason even post about it. I posted bevause my friend got one and i didnt. I wouldn’t have posted if i ran 50 chests and got 5 skins. If however i got 3 skins out of 4 boxes i would post it again xD
Biased at its best ^^
About 20 chests opened no skin for me, carried a friend through one run, he got stuff skin on 2nd chest^^
Sucks but hey. I suppose that you can’t figure drops out by asking in the forums. A better way would likely be conparing prizes to other things we know the drop chances for :P
Well i hoped that infant mode would end after the first boss… Unfortunately it seems that it’ll be carried through the other worlds too… you are right there :/
I’m just hoping that they’ll add a title for completing all world zones in one go without continue coins that would be awesome xD
The fairness! The most important thing in any video game! I don’t want to win or survive longer because i got better gear and/or achievements. It’s a really skill based challenge and that makes it so appealing!
I’m an elementalist myself and from my experience i can tell you that team you mentioned is almost only efficient in CoF p1 speedruns. In every other dungeon (except HotW or other dps test bosses) that require at least some amount of skill the class setup is not needed.
It’s way more important to watch for traitlines like a 5 man condition spamming team is completely useless. I’d also advise you not to run CM if you don’t have projectile block support abilities. It really comes down to what you need for that dungeon. CoF isn’t hard at all and the 4 zerker + mes team is the one with the highest possible dps currently. The very same team will have a very hard time in CoE, CM, Arah, ….
He meant crafted in: by using the mystic forge. All other, except special ones like destroyer, corrupted or godskull weapons, are obtainable through the MF (Pearl weaponary actually)..
@vol now you made me curios xD mind sharing that link with us?
I firmly believe that they can have inisghts on about almost evverything in the game. Vranted i’ve got no where near the programming skills that are required but i still suppose that they are able to see every outgoing bit of data. Shouldn’t be a problem for them.
Probably not the best idea people are extremly jealous and would start accusing them for having much gold.
I’d love to see it though xD Would be really interesting how much someone’s actually able to obtain O.o
At previous: screenshot or it didn’t happen^^
I was never stating that warriors are bad i just told you about my experiences in sPvP. The majority of players i played against were either not able to dodge or used the well known bulls charge – 100b + frenzy combo. Other builds are of course more difficult and more challenging to counter but when i play sPvP that’s the advice you’ll need most in the fights.
I use Scepter/Focus the most time, well aware that it is dmg lacking but i’ve had better results with that weapon set than with D/D.
Also this post wasn’t supposed to be a discussion of my builds or how i play. It’s suppose to gather informatiom on how to counter which profession in an 1on1 scenario. I’d love to hear about your situations with enemys like mesmers, guardians, engineers, …. and how you counter them with whatever build you are using (i run 0/25/0/15/30 atm but i think of sacrificing a bit of arcana so i can max air or improve in water/earth).
Hey guys, so this is supposed to be a guide on how to counter and successfully destroy your enemy. Since eles are an extremly awesome allround class we are capable of doing almost everything. Taking that as a given i want you guys to tell me about your experiences of fighting against other professions and how you won.
The terms are:
- sPvP only, WvW is due to food and server buffs not compareable
- 1on1 situations. I know the ele can shine in group scenarios especially with the staff but consider this being a guide on how to counter in an 1on1 situation.
I’ll start:
Enemy: Warrior
Weapon set: Scepter/Focus (Dagger)
Playstyle: Since my enemy is a warrior i highly expect a 100b GS user. Knowing that, i always have my finger in the reach of my mistform in case i get kd’ed so 100b doesn’t get me. The rest of the fight is really trivial. Most warriors have a great dmg capacity but lack in healing abilitys. Therefore i stay ranged and just burn his lifes slowly but steadily. If i make sure i can outrange him it’s a timetaking but easy victory. Even if he runs something else like double axe or Sword/Shield it’s a mere survival game. Stay ranged don’t let him get too many hits —> gg.
Enemy: Thief
Weapon Set: S/F (D)
Playstyle: I actually don’t know too much about thiefs. Whenever i die in 1on1 situations to another profession i start looking up their skills and even create a pvp char to test them. So next time i know exactly when to strike and when to dodge. This (almost) never happened to me by a thief. Their playstyle is quite generic, they get invisible —> a birst is incoming --> i dodge, use arcane shield, … and when they use their pistols it either didn’t do enough dmg or i countered it with focus air 4 or earth 4… never experienced much trouble with them. If they land their burst though it can get quite ugly since you have to react really quickly if you don’t want to die.
