I posted on Reddit too, and it’s true, it got a lot more attention than here.

Over the years of playing this game I talked to a bunch of people about the changes we’d like to see in game. A lot of people mentioned quality of life things, such as having a way to organize all your gizmos (tonics, balloons, instruments…) and preview certain things in game, for example auras. Not to mention the almost weekly “We need a key-ring! threads”.
The thing that bothered me the most was the lack of organization in the social tab. Friends list has all kinds of things wrong with it, and LFG being in the middle of it isn’t exactly intuitive.
The hero tab is way too cluttered. Gliders, minis and mail carriers have no business being in the middle of equipment.
Wardrobe is such a huge part of the game, it deserves its own tab, in the top left corner of the screen.
Achievements and masteries are also tucked in the Hero panel, but they’re account wide, so it would also make more sense for them to join the wardrobe in the top left corner.
That’s why I decided to do a little bit of Photoshopping. I’m not an expert at it by any means but I decided to have a little fun with it and visualize the changes that I’d like to happen.

Please no changes. The sounds are a big part of why many people – myself included – chose to make these weapons. If anything, add an option/slider to adjust weapon sounds? I mean, everyone could nit pick and find some sound thats irritating in game. Repeated “I could outrun a centaur” etc…

Really… I’d leave these alone. Removing the sounds kind of negates the amusing qualities of both the weapons, and I personally can’t think of any time I’ve been annoyed by something as minor as a weapon sound.

I don’t think it’s minor nor amusing, and there are a lot of people who agree with me. We already have the option to disable “I can outrun a centaur” and other player shouts, and the option to mute people mindlessly spamming their instruments, and I think we should be able to mute weapons as well.

I found myself in many, many situations where I’d end up with a person (or people!) wielding Quip or Dreamer in a dungeon or fractal, and they wouldn’t swap weapons to literally save their life. The worst part is that we’re in a limited space and I can’t exactly get far enough to not hear the sound anymore. So I either have to sit there and listen to the NEIGH NEIGH NEIGH being spammed for literally 20 min or more, or mute the game sound, which then mutes all the important attacks and ambient sounds which I rely on in combat as much as I do on visual cues.

You might think it’s entertaining and not annoying (why, I don’t know, it’s beyond me) but you shouldn’t dismiss it just because it doesn’t bother YOU.
It ruins the experience and quality of life for a lot of players and it definitely needs to be addressed.
Why do you think we’re at this point where ANET is about to make changes to it, if it ISN’T a problem?

Either way, I know a lot of people agree with you, and a lot agree with me as well, so we should just get to some middle ground where everyone can be happy. You guys should be able to hear the sound, and we should be able to mute you guys, client side, and everybody will be happy.

Lots of people get weapons and other items specifically for the sound they make. I personally can’t stand the Dreamer and Quip, but I got the Job-o-tron backpack because I found it hilarious.

That’s why I think sliders like the Player instrument volume one would be the best solution: People who acquired those items for the sound itself can still enjoy it, and the rest of us don’t have to endure that noise.

I think a win-win situation is to have these sliders:
-Player instruments volume
-Weapon effects volume
-Backpacks & gathering tools volume

I had the same issue, characters kept getting stuck in loading screens, and this fixed it. Hope it works for you too.

Odd solution:
1) create a folder for a game
2) put a Gw2Setup.exe in it
3) change its name to Gw2.exe
4) run
in my case it begun downloading files in current directory…

This fixed the installer for me

I uninstalled the game few days ago so today I tried reinstalling it (I didn’t even know that we had a patch, just felt like playing). I’ve been having the same issue, it gets stuck at 0/0 and I can’t even get it to begin downloading. I reset my whole OS and tried to download it again with 0 success, it just gets stuck again and crashes.

How did you fix your issues? I’m getting frustrated and desperate over here!

I complained about this same topic over and over and guess what, it’s not going to change any time soon. As someone who completed the world map a lot of times (I’m working on my 12th one) I can give you some advice on how to deal with this.

Exploring WvW maps DOES NOT require zerging.

Yes, your server will cap those towers and keeps, but you don’t have to be IN that zerg to explore.
Whatever your server color this week is, go to all 4 borderlands, get yourself some swiftness and/or stealth, and grab everything that your server owns at the moment. Repeat that in every borderland, go back to exploring PvE and check on WvW every few hours or so to see if your server capped any new towers or keeps that you need. You can complete everything else without owning it, just run into camps to grab pois, all of the skill points are easy to get (except Stonemist one) so you can do those easilly.
Pay attention to map chat, if someone alerts people about enemy zerg-go in the opposite direction.

If you do this for a few days, you should have your map completion in no time. First time when I did map completion I left WvW for the end and it was a big mistake, start exploring it as soon as you can, even while leveling. All those maps take about 20 min to complete, and that is mostly just because you have to run around a lot, but it can seem like a lot longer just because you can’t do it all at once.

It seems like more work than it actually is, exploring WvW was the worst part of exploring for me, and now it’s one of the easiest. You CAN do it all by yourself, just make sure your timing is right :P

I have the option to click on the arrow and browse skills while I’m in combat, but I can’t select any.
After I get OOC everything works fine.

If your guildie didn’t do anything wrong, Anet will see that and she will not be banned. They will review her chat logs/activity/whatever the report reason was, they don’t automatically ban anyone just because they were reported a lot. Abusing report system however is ban worthy, so if anything, people who reported her might get banned.

This was, most likely, from the Hint Achieving for Inbox Mail. People thought they were people helpful by randomly spamming mails for a while or didn’t understand how it worked.

The mail was from a gold spammer for sure, his previous message was “pvp bank bla bla…” that’s why I got frustrated. Hint achievements went a little different though, some sent me “spam spam” while someone sent “Fight me irl”. I was keeping that one untill a few days ago but I had to clear my inbox :P

A lot of people tend to save certain items/tokens because it has some sort of emotional value, even if they don’t use it.

I was wondering what are your favorite items in game that you are saving and you will never delete? Is it a special weapon that you got from a friend? Item from an old event, such as scanner from first Halloween? Maybe a trinket with funny description?

For me personally, it’s a mail that I got about a month after launch. I was leveling my warrior and I kept getting mails from spammers. After I got frustrated with all the spam, I replied to one of them with ‘STOP SPAMMING ME PLEASE’ ( it was super important to use all caps to let him know how annoyed I was :P ) and few seconds later I got a response (see screenshot). It made me laugh for some reason and I’ve been saving that mail this whole time. To this day, it still makes me giggle and I will never delete that mail.

How about you guys?

The way that thing works is a bit unintuitive.
The pressure plate is always around for you to step on but it only works after you do the event triggered by interacting with the chest. The problem seems to be that the wall reset faster than the chest so you can arrive with the wall up but no way to do the event yet.

This is correct. Wall goes back up within a minute or two, but chest in the middle of the room takes about 3-4 min to respawn (It might be a little shorter, last time I did it it felt like 3 min). Just stick around until the chest respawns, open it and it will spawn a veteran mob, kill it and go up to press the plate. It should knock down the wall and you will be able to finish it.

Temporal curtain doesn’t act like other swiftness abilities, for some reason it’s the only one that doesn’t stack with other swiftness skills. Really annoying :/

I don’t think these new changes are too bad, I understand that some more experienced players think that the new leveling system is “dumbed down”, but also keep in mind that xp from level 1-20 is extremely easy to get and it won’t take too long to unlock all those skills.

Also keep in mind that there ARE players who really don’t understand what’s going on around them, and these few changes might make it easier for them and keep them interested in game instead of leaving them confused.
I know that to a lot of people out there skills and traits are like second nature and almost self explanatory, but then again there are other people who still keyboard turn and ask how come other players strafe so fast.
Or those who don’t know that you can CHANGE KEYBINDS and instead of mouse clicking on your 8 skill (which takes forever) you can just bind it to whatever you prefer.
I remember being a nub warrior and I kept using the Rush skill, which would automatically attack the nearby moa and I was frustrated cause it would put me in combat all the time, but then I realized, oh, I can turn off auto attack!

There are lots of those small stupid things that some people just don’t pay attention to, and I think that this new change might make their leveling experience a little easier to understand and improve overall skill.

I’m not saying that everyone who clicks their skills or keyboard turns is a nub, I’m just trying to use it as an example of a simple thing that lots of people overlook and giving them a hint on how to do it might change their experience drastically.

I haven’t looked for high places to take pictures before but I think I might be pursuing this in the future.

I can’t really remember how we got there tbh, guildie showed it to me. I think he used portal guns/rifles and then portaled me up. After that we spent around 2 hours going to all the high places in game and trying to find the highest climbable spot (without exploits and getting outside the map), just using terrain and jump/leap skills.
I believe the vista by the volcano in Mt Maelstrom is the highest spot (at least from the ones that we climbed) but Griffonrook Run JP is pretty close too :P

At least this post has let me seen some of the nicer people on the forums, Anyone know if there is any kind of RP on the server, or is there more than one server? I enjoy RPing on WoW, and not read of anything in this game about RP.

There are multiple servers but it doesn’t matter which one you’re on (unless you want to do WvW) since there are megaservers, which basically merges all the people into one map, when that one becomes full, another one is created and so on.

Tarnished Coast is unofficial RP server, (NA, I’m not sure about EU servers) although it’s a little harder to find Tarnished Coast people in the megaserver. I’d suggest that you join an RP guild, there are a few big ones, one that I can think of right now is RPCD -Chains of Duty Roleplay Guild. Might be a good place to meet some people there

Edit: just saw that you are on EU, ignore my comment, I’m sure someone can give you better info about EU scene :P

Welcome to the game!
If you wish to play a more supportive/healing class, guardian or elementalist is a good choice, although I would recommend that you try both and see what fits your playstyle more. Guardian is probably the easiest class to play, very noob friendly, so you can always try it out if ele gives you trouble.

Also, don’t pay attention to all this QQ, trolls and volatile voices are always the loudest. The game has really nice, helpful community, and there’s always someone who’s willing to help you out. QQ wise, yes you might find something that you don’t like, the same way that you will probably fall in love with some of the features that people are crying about. I think that’s normal for every game :P Trolls and QQers tend to lurk at the forums, but you will probably have a completely different experience in game.

I strongly disagree with people who say that you will get bored of the play style (class wise, race wise, mechanics…), I’ve been playing this game since 3 days head start and It’s still as much fun as it was 2 years ago its all subjective, so try everything out and have fun doing it!

The only way you could do that is to make the whole legendary for someone, since all those Gifts are account bound and there’s no way you can trade them, and all the legendary components are account bound until you finish the legendary (except the precursor of course)

I understand where you’re coming from, I’m just saying that I wish we had more options to choose what to do with the Gift, instead of just vendoring it or using it for a legendary. Maybe it could be tradeable for geodes, or as a component for certain weapon crafting. Or if you could exchange it for a title ( I know you get Been There, Done That), but maybe it could be something that people would recognize, Professional Explorer for example (similar to how you get a title if you made the same legendary weapon twice). I’m not saying that all those Gifts should all of a sudden be very expensive and make me filthy rich, but just having a little more options to do something with it would be nice for us altoholics and map completionists.

It’s not a bonus, it’s more like an insult to injury. Let’s say each map takes about 2.30 hours to complete (some are larger and take more than 3 hours) and there are 25 maps (not including WvW maps and cities), thats around 57 hours to complete all those maps, more than 2 full days!
Maybe 12.80s for 57 hours of map completing is rewarding for you, but I did map completion 11 times, and I am personally less than satisfied with that.

The fact that you can sell a legendary and not ascended piece of armor/weapon is ridiculous. It takes a lot more time, luck, and patience to make a legendary, and IMO it should be account bound as soon as you make it. Personally I’d be really happy if we could sell ascended items on TP (except trinkets) and keep legendaries account bound, but you know, thats just crazy talk apparently.

Ok, this was on my mind for a while and I wanted to share my opinion to see if there’s anyone else who feels the same way that I do.

I’ve played this game since launch, and of course, playing just one class over and over can be boring, so I leveled up at least 1 character of each profession. After I did that, I wanted map completion for all my characters since I like having everything explored, for convenience and OCD purposes.
I don’t mind completing the map, personally I find it fun to re-explore all the areas and take my time to visit all the beautiful places that this game has, but after I finished completing it, I felt a little underwhelmed with the reward.
I will probably never make a legendary, there are just too many beautiful weapons in game and I don’t want to settle for just one skin, if I want better stats I’ll just make ascended, so right now all these Gifts of Exploration are useless to me.

Currently, 2 Gifts of Exploration have 12.80s vendor price, which is honestly like a slap in the face, considering how much time and effort goes into even getting the Gift, and the only other thing that I can use it for is for Gift of Mastery, which I did make, only to give up on the legendary hunt in the next 4 days because I found a skin that I like more. Reward for completing the map the first time is pretty good IMO, you get a title, achievement, the star next to your name is new and shiny, but it doesn’t give players much initiative to complete it the 2nd time.

I know that map completion is optional, and no one is forced to do it, but for us people who do it a lot (for whatever reason), I feel like we get no reward for it whatsoever, at least for completing it the 2nd time or more. TL;DR : Give us something in exchange for Gifts of Exploration other than Gift of Mastery and miserable 12.80s.

Had to log in and comment because some of you are acting like spoiled lil brats. The game is FREE, you paid $60 for it, or less if you got it on sale, the devs give us new content and rewards every 2 weeks, new sets of achievements, bosses, what not. Then of course people find something to QQ about “plz anet less zerg mechanics, plz anet more organized content” so we get new Teq, 3 wurms in Bloodtide, we get updated world bosses, and you people cry “anet y u do dis, too hard to kill” For anti zerg mechanic we get a pavillion and you complain how its impossible, rewards aren’t good, bla bla. Then you want the Queensdale train to be removed, it gets removed, you cry about it.
Last year everyone complained how Liadri was extra difficult because of the dome, this year they listen to you people and remove the dome, are you happy? No!
‘anet y u do dis again, now these new people have it easy". And of course, the most recent one, we finally got rewards from past events, which personally made me really happy because I missed out on Gasmask skin and the Baloon, but for some reason, a lot of you want to be ’special snowflakes’ and think you deserve those rewards more than new players.
And now, to finally get to my point, players kept asking for living story to be replayable precisely for these reasons, because they missed out or they wanted to introduce their friends to it. And when we finally get the option to do so, you complain because you would “have to” pay for it. This doesn’t mean that you have to whip out your credit cards, if you already can’t take 5 sec of your day within 2 WEEK PERIOD to log in, just use those 20 gold that you can get in 2 days of dungeoning and buy it for yourself or your friend if you really care about it that much.
IMO, its an amazing change and I’m very excited about it. Plus to all the people who are complaining that they now cant invite their friends to play the game because they will either have to read walls of wiki, or use real money-you are so full of kitten. If this living story update never happened, how would your friends play then? You wouldn’t introduce them to the game because they missed out on LS so they might as well never play it? Please. It’s sickening how you ask for all these changes, and when they finally happen, you find ways to complain about it. If you don’t like it, don’t buy the super expensive im about to be bankrupt item for 200 gems and keep buying outfits for 800 gems like you always do. I agree when people say that Guild Wars 2 community is way better and helpful than other MMO’s, but some people are just so volatile and condescending that they ruin experiences for everyone, even themselves.

TL:RD If you hate all these FREE changes to one of the best MMO’s out there, go and play Wow, you can have your precious makeovers for only $25, new content every year or 2 for $60, subscription fees for $15 a month, and of course, so much replayable stories (aka quests that you anyways never read). Sorry for the long post and rage, but I’m sick of people crying about kitten just for the sake of crying about it. Good day.

While I was doing the gauntlet, I noticed this Sylvari NPC wearing human tier 2 light pants. I’m not sure if this is a bug, or some foreshadowing that we might be able to mix and match them in the future (considering the rage after Flamewrath armor), but I just decided to post it and see if I can get any feedback. Sorry the screen is a little dark, I attached a preview of my mes with those pants/skirt for comparison.

The heart in Iron Marches (level 50)is buggy. The Displaced Spirits NPCS are not doing anything. After talking to them and choosing “I’ll help you” option, they are supposed to move to their bodies, and on their way there, spiders and shadow fiends are supposed to spawn, which help fill out the heart progress after they’re killed. Unfortunately, the Spirits remain in their place, and some of them are mysteriously stuck in the trees. Its completely blocking the progress for everyone. Please fix it. There isnt any other way to complete this heart, except maybe with the charr cub event, but that seems to be buggy too. One of the cubs still has a shield over its head, like the event is in progress (only has “Greet” option) , while the rest of the cubs keep running around the well in front of the house.

My only concern is that if leveling up at higher levels is so tough or dull that one is willing to do the Queensdale train it must be very bad indeed.

Thats also one of the problems. Other zones in the game are all beautiful and interesting in their own way, and leveling is way faster when you’re exploring new zones and enjoying the view, meeting new people, encountering new types of enemies, and so on. It sucks that you got that impression of the game and the leveling system so early on, because it means that you are not the only one who feels that way. Other low level people probably got the same impression while riding the good ol’ boring train. I strongly recommend switching zones and exploring everything. Just running around doing nothing and randomly unlocking waypoints and points of interest will give you so much xp and you wont even know how it happened.

To all those who are saying that the train doesn’t affect new, low level players – it does, because they all ask what the easiest way to level/get gold is, and the train responds with “the train” which low level players listen to, since “train people must have experience in game”. I’ve seen it happen way too many times, and it sucks when you get a guardian in your dungeon party who got to 80 in a train, and then when you ask him for wall because the pew pew is killing you, you get a response ‘whats a wall lel" .Im not saying that this is the case with all the people who were a part of the train, but it definitely didn’t help anyone master their class while sitting in a zerg spamming 1-5. I also killed oak one time alone because I didn’t feel like waiting for a train (play how you want). Because of that I am now a troll and I can go **** myself because I’m selfish. I’m sick of the volatile attitude that train tends to have, and if I dont feel like dealing with it I should just “go to another area and stop QQ”. That is not the solution, because then I cant play the game the way that I want to. My suggestion would be to increase all QD champ respawn timers to every 10-15 minutes. That way low level people can regularly do the events, and still get good loot and xp without getting hate for summoning a champ “too early”.

Since you need skill points and vistas, my guess would be that it’s in WvW. Hover over map name to see your completion progression so you don’t have to visit every map individually, it should save you some time. Also, I don’t know how long ago you completed these maps, but Brisban, Gendarran, Plains of Ashford, Wayfarer Foothills, Cursed Shore, Divinity’s Reach and Black Citadel all got a new waypoint or point of interest in previous updates. You should visit them again and see if you grabbed everything.

-Bought cultural tier 3 armor, transmuted something else over it because ‘everyone has it’
-Destroyed over 400 Transmutation Crystals (1-79) just a week before they announced the wardrobe. /wrists
-Chose Vigil for my mesmer, the stories were so hard I almost cried
-Leveling a mesmer. Wouldn’t do it again for all the gold in this world.
-Sold Abyss dye for ~5gold. Twice.
-Vendored Silk and various leathers because ‘they were worthless’.

I know exactly how you feel OP, 3.3k hours played, (1.2k on 2nd account) and the best thing I got as a drop was Charrzooka rifle, which was at the time 10 gold. I get some exotics here and there but they’re mostly less than 1 gold. I tried mixing weapons in the forge, that was a huge money sink. I don’t want a legendary so I was trying to make a precursor to make some easy gold. Nope! RNG hates me and I hate it.

I bought all of mine from the Trading Post. I don’t buy Mini 3 packs because they’re too rng based. Just type in “Mini Skritt” and you should see both types of skritt posted for around 1 gold.

The new skritt mini is adorable and I love it, just wanted to say thank you for giving these cuties a little recoginition.
Also, after seeing another quaggan backpack in the pvp locker im a little disappointed that they STILL keep invading peoples backpacks, and I’d like to see some skritt backpacks, perhaps a female skritt holding a shiny button or a cog, and a male one holding a bottle or any other shiny object. Please make it happen!!

this happens to me occasionally, it happens the most in twilight arbor after i get entangled and then press W, A, S or D. after the entangle wears off, my character starts auto running. it happens outside of TA too when i get immobilized by other mobs, but not as often.
