I don’t really understand why people don’t take that into consideration when boasting about how fast their client is.
Honestly, it’s quite silly to complain about performance when you drop money for a Mac that has an Intel graphics card or a mediocre one. Good frame rates are achieved by decent graphic cards only. This is also an issue some people experience on Windows.
I mean, you don’t really expect an Intel 3000 to pull off a stable 60 FPS with anything above medium settings. Right?

Guild Wars 2 suffers performance issues on many macs. They differ depending on the hardware itself, however. Older macs have serious issues, meanwhile newer ones are slightly better at handling the client.
The whole issue is that the client uses a wrapper to work, and it’s not natively written. If you expect a product of the same quality that you receive when playing the game on Windows then you are mistaken.
Anyway, the game is playable most of the time by taking out some options and setting the graphics to the lowest setting possible. Newer macs can survive higher settings and different options, but subpar to running it under Windows.
Bottom line, it’s not worth it. Better that you play the game on Windows, or not at all, whilst hoping some magical day comes and something good happens which fixes the OS X client completely.

Greetings, Lacey. Welcome to the OSX forums, where we thought that we have been forgotten. And your words prove our fears right. Let’s suppose that overlooking OSX issues is not your main task, and understandably so, it’s a huge task on its own, what should we understand from this?
If there won’t be any realistic improvements— not only the forums, but the game client itself then nothing has certainly changed. After all, organizing this place, and cleaning it up as you deem better can be a precursor to a long list of improvements for players that use OS X.
The client has been in a Beta phase for over two years, and many issues arise, some are tackled, some forgotten, and it was pathetic up to a point that they decided that it was time to let someone take up the mantle of exclusively dedicating themselves to this part of the community.
Indeed, welcome. And I hope, that perhaps, your coming might mean something realistic for us on the long term. Otherwise, there’s no need for the sympathy of Arena Net towards those who expect a perfectly working client up to par with the Windows version of the game.
If the plans to achieve that are up in the air, if the money isn’t there or simply it’s not suitable business choice then it is high time that we are told the truth about the client, as it would be easier to shot it down rather than keep this circus going in a circle.
Well, I wish you good luck with your work, and at least I am glad someone stepped up willingly to take this role in the community.

Its a free to play game.
No, Guild Wars 2 isn’t a free-to-play game. I’m also having issues with the Guild system @ the moment.
I don’t understand your problem (those who are against). If they would add more revealing armours what would that exactly change in your life? You don’t have to use them. Others who want will. Simple as that. This way there would be more customization.
I’m against this only if the options will start being lacking for either side. I don’t want to have either too many revealing sets or too many seriously made ones.
I’d say, give us more revealing and more heavy armor. No reason to discriminate one taste over another.
I’m sure that getting additional revealing armor doesn’t mean that Anet will delete realistic-looking ones.
I can only hope.
I think that collecting dyes is a major challenge that should fall on each character separately. Account-wide dyes would pretty much ease a process that’s both challenging and fun to accomplish and perhaps some of that blabla about arena.net making money off some gems and dyes.
Exactly. Most games handle sexy armor from a position of straight male privilege, and it is still somewhat exemplified in Guild Wars 2 (human light armor has a stark distinction on character creation, and there is no reason the female light armor wearers cannot wear something similar to the male, unless of course Arena Net is only trying to appeal to straight male gaze). I have no problem with sexy armor being available, outside of my personal role playing preferences of not having adventurers going off into combat in clothes not suitable for combat or adventuring. However, it is rarely handled with equity and is typically implemented as a means of pleasing straight male gamers.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure females out there like a more feminine version of the gear and that’s acceptable, I just want them to keep a balance between feminine versions and over-objectified ones that are purely made to appeal only to one side of the player-base, but that’s only for heavy gear, light or medium can be excused for both genders.
I’m against this. I want female character that wear heavy armour not to be over-objectified and to represent a real armour set for their profession.
At least they should release some kind of benchmark to test the performance
There’s already a tool like that; it’s the GameAdvisor from arena.net.
I don’t think there should be a trial version of the game.
Hello,
I know most people dislike click-to-move, however I’m sure a big number of Guild Wars 2 players are used to click-to-move, whilst it might not be suitable for combat it sure would be for walking to specific spots instead of using auto-walk.
Therefore, I think an option for click-to-move would be useful to this part of the playerbase. Let me know what you think.
Greetings,
Pieuvre Armaments is a start-up guild that aims towards a swift and effective development in its politic sector and to follow up with deep economy bonuses for the members and occasional architecture upgrades.
We welcome players of all sorts and walks. If you are interested then feel free to contact me in-game or leave a message here on the forums. You’re more than welcome to ask any question about the guild.
The guild’s main language is English and the currently common timezone is GMT to GMT+3. We expect to be a small guild that goes about quality over quantity.
Thanks.

Trying to understand why GW would benefit from this at all….
Its just a gimmick. Time and effort would be best placed elsewhere.
Maybe sPvP and WvW stats would be interesting to have available online.
When there’s 8 Classes, it is. If there were only 5 Classes it would be fine
You don’t need to pay for the slots with real money. You can acquire the amount of gems quite fast with the in-game currency; simply look at the second tab of the Black Lion Trading Company “O”
I think five character slots is minimal. Most people will have five or six characters anyway. That also helps not to have inactive characters.
Not in my knowledge, perhaps they will do something about this in the future. I’m sure it will arise as soon we get a proper suggestion forum section.
Maybe it’s only lag and he looks far away for you, but instead he’s closer to the monster.
No, you can’t reverse transmutation. You can transmute your armour again though.
You don’t need mounts. If a waypoint is contested and you want to rush there then use the closest waypoint and any of your speed conditions to reach the location faster. You don’t need a mount to travel around Tyria.
You can’t just rush with a hammer in any battle. You need team-mate support to keep you alive and to use the correct skills to aid you. Meanwhile you might have a huge damage output, you forget about your defense.
Since this is relevant to the subject; what’s the maximum number of character slots you can have? (By purchasing from the BLTC)
Also since you mention World of Warcraft’s realm and character slot structure; Guild Wars 2 was designed in a way that you have to invest in your guild and realm. However, in World of Warcraft your realm doesn’t play too much of a role.
(Unless, of course you are in a specific kind of realm, like PvP/RPG/Normal etc)
Meanwhile in Guild Wars 2 your World matters since your contribution in WvW counts for the World’s points and performance that is shown to the others.
Most want to look at it in order to see how they would matchup in the group.
Sure! Maybe there should be some kind of number that says how good your gear is, let’s call it gear score. So when we run dungeons, we can only take the best with us!
Player-to-player question. Do you think that dyes are worth the value people give to them? They drop rather often and it’s easy to get most uncommon and common dyes. However, I can see why the rare ones cost high, but I don’t think a dye is worth the price tag people put on them.
What do you think?
I’m also sort-of non-hardcore player. I loved Thief and it’s quick to grasp. I find that casters in this game are a little deeper than what they look, but a nice combination is the Guardian, if you like that sort of thing. (Which reminds me the Chaplain or Crusader from other role-playing games)
I have received this login error message upon login, but I was able to continue normally. I think a developer needs to see the message.

What’s a good 40-50 area where I can level with the least issues?
You can also always try a new race/profession combination. That keeps things interesting, you can also try different choices for your story.
I usually find a lot of these and I’m not even looking for them. I constantly put them up the BLTC so people can buy them from there. Sometimes for low prices, sometimes for high, it really depends on the mood of other people that put things on the TP.
However, most of the time I fill orders. Magic find bonuses have helped me to move my economy around with a constant income from materials I don’t need or I don’t want to use and others find useful.
MLG…. sounds like the NFL, NCAA and MLB. Yea, if you pit today’s athletes against yesterdays; today’s would win. Gogo Steroids.
As I said before, there maybe an issue with gearing/specing with my play style. I know most people run from me, but Thieves always come to me. Seems an issue when every class avoids me other then one. Then again, rock always runs from paper.
I can stand if Thief is the counter to Warrior; Everything has a weakness. Nothing I’ve seen thus far has stated thus though.
Edited to one post;kittendouble clicking on Emachines comps. >.<
MLG is simply a group of people that enjoy competitive play through potential video games that allow them to satisfy and compete between each other. They also hold their own leagues and have their own number of skilled players for different games and most of their income comes from sponsors and partnerships. (No, I’m not talking about those types that go around trying to imitate truly skilled progamers in games that are far from acceptable for actual competitive play)
I personally as a Thief have a hard time to tackle foes head-on. I prefer to go around with my team or partner and support their attack instead.
I did not experience similar issues with the game myself; I don’t understand how FOV can bother people so much to the point of having headaches, but I’ve experienced motion sickness by playing Minecraft, so I get these things can happen to anyone.
You don’t understand the reason behind your level being “lowered” down for the specific area you are in; you need your level lowered down so the game is still enjoyable and challenging for you and so you can truly earn your new skill points once you reach the highest level available.
However, your level being lowered doesn’t change the gear you are wearing. Sure, it has a big impact, but your gear matters more than your level, especially on higher levels, you won’t mind being leveled down.
This system has been added to keep the game enjoyable for everyone and especially lower level players that seek to complete events or renown hearts and to also keep the game enjoyable and interesting to you.
You have earned your levels, let no-one tell you otherwise, but you should also understand that without such a thing you would have high-level players causing problems that you often encounter in other MMORPG’s.
I’m not sure, but it looks like something you shouldn’t do or avoid. Especially because when someone losses too much it’s easier for them to mark you for scam or vice-versa. The Code of Conduct doesn’t cover this on clear terms. (From what I understand)
More information;

I don’t see the problem with my thief; I have mobility and swiftness which are key elements in the combat of Guild Wars 2, but that doesn’t mean she is unstoppable. Use the correct skills and knowledge against a thief and you can overcome them… Or have them run away, either case is what you want.
Also Major League Gaming has nothing to do with Guild Wars 2 or the balance in most video games – that’s a whole different discussion and there’s a reasoning behind each game they pick to develop their own league.
Those are quotes from various characters in the game, even the player characters. Why are they spamming them though? I’ve no clue. Because they are cool, maybe?
You can buy gems through in-game gold, and you aren’t forced or required to buy gems anyway. You decided to buy gems with real money on your own, that doesn’t make the game expensive per sé.
You can’t change your character’s hairstyle and features after confirming it’s creation. There hasn’t been such a feature confirmed at this time. However, you can submit this in the future feedback or suggestion forums where the developers will take note of it.
Report them for spam and block them. They aren’t selling any gold and likely they are after your e-mail address and even passwords. Chances are that they will try to enter into characters, run them dry and get rid of anything they have through the BLTC.
The Code of Conduct is pretty clear on what a player should avoid doing. Regardless of the situation if an accident is reported then they have to act as per the guidelines. Being it in a “private” chat within the game doesn’t excuse you from the terms and rules you agreed to when you registered, downloaded the client and so on.
Simply put it at the bank. The bank is shared between your characters, so you don’t need to mail your stuff or gold.
From Guild Wars 2’s twitter profile I found that you can make suggestions here;

Ok,
It seems I’m forced to play with the case wide open. But that sucks =(
You need to open your computer and change the thermal paste and re-apply the cooler. If you are experiencing further issues then replace whatever you use to cool the CPU. You should also check the CPU’s health, since overheating might damage it.
You can spend them to craft high-level equipment. (Check the bottom of the Wiki article)
I agree, it’s just unfortunate that people come here asking if there are any PVP rewards, and are met with:
Ahh so not really interested in PVP, just in the unfair advanatge so you can win. Gotcha.
I agree, but I love PvP and WvW in Guild Wars 2. (I avoid “zergling” around) it is really much more satisfying and entertaining than other games. I find that the current rewards fit well enough for the game, maybe we just need more time to like the concept or understand it properly.
I like most of those tips. Nice list.
With that being said, I feel it’s short-sighted and ignorant to think that everyone should subscribe to the same motivations that you do.
However only one of the two things can happen at once, you can’t have both things at the same time. That means everyone has to go with one thing or another eventually, whether they like it or not. Maybe, that’s why we have PvP and WvW.
I’m not sure what to answer, but it doesn’t look like a nice thing to do. Sort-of like buying domain names just hoping someone with money wants to buy them and try to make the most out of the procedure.
It just looks like a mean thing to do. You use the names for your characters because you want them to be named that way, not because you want to make some gold or whatever else through that.
I don’t see what’s wrong with this. What matters is skill and perhaps how awesome you look whilst you fight. I don’t think that actual gear would be a good reward, it simply wouldn’t be nice compared to what Guild Wars 2 is trying to do.
I think that the game doesn’t support the concept of people keeping a specific role like “healer” or “tank” however everyone can deal damage and support others at the same time. You should discard what you know and try to grasp this style instead.
My favourite combination is primarily dual daggers and secondarily sword and gun. The first one is used when I want to fight multiple foes and the latter is used when I want to focus on a specific target or simply pick each foe one-by-one.
For PvP I tend to use a short bow because of the mobility it provides.
