Nitpicky here: the Forged

in Lore

Maethor.2810

It probably would be better, but I have a sneaking suspicion that WOTC might have trademarked/copyrighted Warforged. Calling them simply ‘Forged’ sidesteps that.

“Battleforged” might work as an alternative, depending on how securely WOTC has it tied down…

I don’t know what WOTC is, but i doubt you can trademark a word.
I mean, you have a design with a name, you can trademark that, but you can’t trademark just a word. Draenei, for example, is a really unique name, can’t copy that. Just like Mursaat. But things like knights, warforged, paladins, those words are hard to trademark, and you can only really sue a copier if their design and/or theology is similar.
Warforged is a word, not a name. Just like Wednesday. Its an uncommon, but normal name. As long as you don’t literally remake Wednesday Adams you’re not breaking any copyright/trademark laws.

WOTC = Wizards of the Coast. American game publisher (Magic: The Gathering and D&D being their top two games).

Path of Fire content milestone

Maethor.2810

We can’t wait to play Path of Fire with you!

Rein it in there, sunshine. You don’t want to be anywhere near us when we start to play.

Why?

Because you know what’s out there, and are waiting to see our reactions to your favorite parts. All of the devs are, I’m sure. And we… we’re going to go over and poke that random bush. Or talk to that NPC for the tenth time. Or go AFK right before the nifty event goes off. And so on.

Hang around with us on launch day, and I promise you some of you will break down into screaming fits of frustration.

Needless to say, I can’t wait for launch day.
::innocent grin::

Considering the way GW2 is designed I think some people at Anet absolutely want you to go poke the random bush or talk to the random NPC or even see what happens if you don’t complete an event.

I feel like this game is one of the best for encouraging and rewarding you to go off the beaten path. It may not always reward it in conventional ways – a lot of the time all you get is some interesting dialogue or something odd to take a screenshot of – but as someone who will always go left when I’m told to go right just to see if I can I certainly feel like it’s more encouraged in this game than most of the others I’ve played.

I could absolutely image a dev being there going “Nah, lets not bother with this event, it’ll only repeat in 10 minutes” because they know that actually if it fails a boss will spawn or something.

Agreed. They do encourage hanging around for ambient dialogue or searching in the nooks and crannies of the map and NPCs as they frequently put in neat little gems.

I was left behind by 3 of 4 friends that I played the new map demo weekend with as I was too busy poking around. They went off to do events and killed nearly every bounty it seemed before I even left Amnoon Oasis. I generally take my time and fully explore; more so if it’s in an area I know has throwbacks to GW1 (when I saw the hand of the Lonely Vigil statue after one of my friends said ‘come here, I think this might be of interest to you’ I deafened them with my happy squeal).

So for those devs who love to see players explore, people like me are a gem. To those who want to see reactions to events? I’ll be a disappointment for the first day or two after I walk into a new map

Veteran players are too hostile to newbies

Maethor.2810

It exists in every MMO but in my time in this game (since launch) I have seen very little hostility. Through all the games I have played I have to say that I find GW2 is the friendliest and most helpful community of them.

I have quite a few people blocked, and even while there are people being helpful in map chat there’s sometimes the sarcastic troll, but I can’t say that I have really ever seen someone new asking for help that has been yelled at, being rude and horrible to them, or getting terribly frustrated.

Though, I am sorry to see that what you have only seen has been the thin black streak within the community. It is a very small percentage of the overall community that I have seen in this game in the past 5 years.

Oh man. There’s so much, so I’m sure you’ll get some wonderful answers. I could probably sit here and make a list for hours, so I’ll just throw some of them your way…

Some of the most plentiful references, though, are in ghosts, gravestones, and books.

- Durmand Priory library has Aidan’s journal, who was one of the major ranger NPCs in prime. Noran in Lake Doric is a distant relation of Aidan as well (and he has a pet black moa which was a rare GW2 pet, and his wolf shares a name with one of the major necromancer NPCs).

- Professor Yakkington’s grave in Ebonhawk (among a bunch of references through the game of him) – a dolyak companion of Nicholas Sanford that was a traveling daily trader. The grave glows slightly, a reference to how Nicholas used to use enchanted lodestones to act as lights when Yakkington slept as he was scared of snakes and darkness.

- Pretty much every book cart in Divinity’s Reach has some sort of GW1 reference. For things slightly less known in reference I suggest locating these two: Joe the Devourer: The Untold story, Oink’s Adventures. Both reference NPC creatures

(For books that are related to PoF/Elona/Crystal Desert that are a little less on the obvious side – A Novice’s Guide to Cooking with Iboga, Junundu and Me, and The Curious Case of Bahltek by Norgu though there’s several on more known topics that would apply as well)

For locations, some of my favourites are:
- Lornar’s Pass, there is a statue of Grenth at the Reaper’s Gate location that was there in prime.

- The Falls location in Auric Basin is home to Zinn’s Lab, that was there in prime. Somewhere around the hero point.

- Brisban Wildlands, Aurora’s Remains (especially the event that takes place in there) is a straight up throw back of the old Aurora Glade mission and bonus.

I can’t remember which dev exactly it was that said it but it was confirmed that we will see some reference to the Dervish in PoF.

Whether it’s just a nod to the class somewhere, an NPC, or some other way of finding out what happened to them we don’t know yet but there will be something somewhere.

New player need advice

in Players Helping Players

Maethor.2810

Short answer: whatever you like.

Leveling in GW2 is extremely fast compared to other traditional MMOs that have a level curve system. The levels go by fast and you get XP all over the place, you don’t out-level maps (you will be toned down to the map’s level) so you can get XP by being a level 70 in a level 15 zone.

Thief tends to be better for map running, since they have a high damage output and stealth abilities to slip through tough areas. But in my experience (though I admit to sucking at playing the thief), I found that Rev had more survivability generally.

I wouldn’t really worry about the bad things that others say about the classes – everyone has something bad to say about every class and this rotates every balance change that happens. We’re getting an expansion in September that is going to have new mechanics coming along with it and an inevitable balance change sometime after launch of that, too.

So play around. Play some levels of whatever you find interesting and stick with the ones you find that you like. The later levels will always be more enjoyable as you unlock more of your class capabilities, but play around. Each class has a variety of things they can do and they all have elite specializations – a new set are coming with the expansion. There’s plenty of options – and try some that you think you wouldn’t even like initially. I have ended up enjoying classes I never thought I would have.

Figure out what you like in PvE. Each class has viable PvP builds that you can try out once you get to giving that a whirl.

[Suggestion] Gift of Battle acquisition

Maethor.2810

uldn’t be another pointless debate about which mode is better/worse, either.

Maethor.2810

I don’t like it either – but it’s better than having to do full WvW map completion, which is what it used to take to obtain.
As inconvenient as it is for us PvE only folks, it’s less fair for the people that do PvP/WvW only having to do map completion for those Gifts.
So until they do something that makes both sides happy I don’t see this changing.

If my memory serves that was only relevant for overall map completion. The old method for acquiring the Gift of Battle was 500 Badges of Honor and nothing else.

That is the issue of fairness regarding the exclusivity of rewards from one mode to the other, which is the basis on which this suggestion is ultimately predicated. So, by all means, I’d welcome that (and an extension of that to other items/rewards/gear).

Nope you are right. I am misremembering that part. I just remember it taking forever and a day to finally get through the WvW map completion to be able to get what I needed, because like Endless I am extremely high anxiety and anything PvP is terrible on me. So it was that I was stuck on, and less the GoB.

Though, as Endless Soul also says, Edge of the Mists isn’t too bad. It feels like WvW Lite though the track progress there is not quite a quick as it is on the standard borderland maps. But log in on a weekend, check and see if there’s a commander leading a zerg, pop some WvW XP boosters and have at it.

That’s how I got mine when I wasn’t bribing my WvW-liking friend to work on my track for me in exchange for jumping puzzles and adventures

Please Increase Bank Tab Limit

I would love more bank space. Even if they put another row in the existing bank tabs instead of increasing the tab cap, that would help. >.>

But I also openly admit that I’m sort of a hoarder (though I have seen worse cases among my game friends). I keep a ton of stuff that I probably don’t need to but it will either help me out down the line, makes my head happy until I feel I can safely be rid of it, is holiday stuff I am holding onto for the next year, or is nostalgia.

Their last batch of deposit-able items helped clear out at least a bank tab worth of stuff, though, thank goodness. If they keep adding more things to the list of being able to deposit them, that will help keep my bank not quite as bad.

Maethor.2810

t, I made this very, very clear.

Cheap copout as it seems but we just don’t have enough info to stick to anything, let alone my theories. Yet another with the very same reading comprehension quirk…

… Seriously? ‘Same comprehension quirk?’

No one here has issues with comprehension, contrary to your belief.

We don’t have much to go on, you are right. But what everyone else is right about is your ability to have a respectful discussion on the matter.

In this one thread, you have:
- Falsely claimed that Greyhawk has “always been off topic”. He has posted here 13 times. One was a thread bump, one a mixed response addressing your behaviour and the discussion, four were solely addressing your attitude, and seven were entirely on topic of the discussion. Yet you slam him for derailing this thread when you have thrown veiled insults his way.

- ‘Requesting’ he leave the thread after attempting to call him out for enforcing his views on you (he wasn’t, just pointing out what we know) and claiming that he was speaking for groups of people when he wasn’t. Nowhere in any of his posts did I see that he was speaking for any group of people. There was no speaking for us older players and there was no insult to newcomers. Anywhere. Maybe you need to work on your comprehension there.

- Presenting ideas that support your theory as fact, and when met with the information that we currently know to be factual, you claim they are being hostile, their understanding is incorrect, or are misunderstanding your point.

- And the real thing here that was absolutely uncalled for and unacceptable for any debate/discussion: suggesting that Greyhawk needs a counselor (WTH?) and insinuating that he is unintelligent, or at least below your level of intelligence (and that part I doubt). All anyone else has done in the reverse is defend themselves from your negative presumptions as well as point out the fact that you are making them.

As someone that has been on this forum since it was created, and having played or spoken in-game to a few posters, I can assure that there are no proxy accounts in play here. That said, I would think that, by deduction, it might be the way in which you are trying to present your theory that is flawed and not the “comprehension quirks” of other posters.

In short, I think this thread needs to just be closed. This has hardly been a completely respectful discussion from the first quarter of the front page onward.

Generally, I hate PvP so I don’t care that much for it and would decline any open world duel (I have auto-decline on for that in ESO, for example), but I do understand that other people want it. As well as the arguments against it. I, personally, wouldn’t want to see dueling enabled everywere in PvE

But – what about having it just enabled in cities? Rata Sum/Grove/Hoelbrak/Black Citadel/DR? It is an enclosed safe space that is away from the Us vs Them mindset that is present in non-city zones. You don’t have to worry if that player coming is going to help you out or is just running around looking for duels. It wouldn’t take away from the events on the other maps as everyone would still be playing cooperatively and keeping the competitive feeling out of PvE zones.

One of the friends I played with in the demo weekend was able to dismount in midair to glide. But that was after missing a jump to a vista that was very high up so she had a greater falling distance, where I was unable to dismount midair in a relatively short fall.

So unless that was some weird blip she had in the demo, which is entirely possible at this point, then there might be a system in place that will allow you to dismount after falling a certain distance so that you could glide to avoid death.

But, to answer: I don’t see a reason for short falls, but would like to be able to dismount if I am about to fall far enough that impact would be instant defeat.

Why aren't we blind?

in Lore

Maethor.2810

This seems to be a good time and place to bring this up. Since being “dimmed” Balthy has chugged one supersized bloodstone with all the sides worth of magic – remember, it was full up after we disposed of Zhaitan and Mordremoth. He then followed it up with an amount equal to or greater than what Jormag and Primordus put together have consumed since awakening. When you consider what they are and how consuming magic is about their only hobby it starts to look like a lot of magic.

Yet Balthazar isn’t that bright even after all that. So does this imply that a god at full power would literally have one Tyria worth of magic or thereabouts? Since we know Abaddon was the big kitten in the having of magic department (he was supposed to be able to take on 3 of the others, iirc?) just how much kitten magic is in these guys? Who’d they nick it from, because I doubt they found it on the side of the road and just forgot to hand it over to the proper authorities.

My thought for that would be the kind of power that he’s absorbed. What causes mortals to go blind all the time are gods filled with divine power, which has been shown to be a different form of magic than what is natural or dragon magic.

Balthazar was ‘dimmed’ by whatever means that happened but the magic he has regained from the bloodstone/Jormag/Primordus is not divine magic. So that may be a likely reason why we still wouldn’t be blinded as if we were looking too long at a god at full power and less that he hasn’t regained enough power yet.

Mobs: Expected Hydra to be a bit harder. Some mobs too easy, but do not want the same difficulty level for all mobs as in HoT.

Events: Feels like there could be more on the map. Liked bounties.

UnIDs: Like less bag clutter, dislike having to go find someone to ID.

Mounts: Generally OK. Controls easy. Would like there to be a no-mount radius around vendors/story NPCs.

Story: So far so good!

Can’t do anything as far as the background image goes, but you can change the music that plays. Balthazar's Power (Spoilers)

Maethor.2810

I’m going to hope that if it actually comes down to killing him if that’s the way the story goes, that there isn’t another Kormir that happens – and this is assuming that any of what power remained pre-ED was even divine (as they would really only need someone to step up if it was the divine magic getting loose like what happened with Abaddon). For all we know right now, the gods might already have a new god in Balthazar’s place and it’s just ED housed magic that he absorbed that will be released.

But I’m going to throw the possibility of Aurene into the mix here as a factor of what could be used to clean up any non-divine magic mess, seeing as she already absorbed some of Mordremoth’s magic.

Question on beta weekends

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Maethor.2810

Maethor.2810

According to the PoF FAQ the first beta weekend (8/11-8/13) we’ll get to see the new map and the raptor mount (no mention of testing the new elites).

Then states that on the second weekend (8/18 – 8/20) demo characters can be created with the elites to play in WvW and PvP.

For HoT beta weekends, I believe there were three, and we were able to see the elite specs were available for the latter two, though only a handful were available at first, in PvE and possibly PvP/WvW (don’t remember if that was the case since I don’t play either).

So I’m just asking for clarification as there’s some internal debate with friends: Are we not able to see any of the elite specs in the PvE environment the first weekend and only get to see the new elites through WvW/PvP (since the elites were only specified for the second weekend)? Or has anyone heard rumblings that there will be a third that we can see the elites in PvE?

PoF predictions...

Maethor.2810

Balth is not Balth but really Abaddon who is trying to get his power back assuming he wasn’t just allegedly “destroyed”.

I agree with you 90% on that theory but I believe that it is Balthazar in a weakened state. When Kormir took over for Abaddon she said his memories and everything was there, but he was gone. As a god you exist in another plane and can exist without existing in the physical form. I think Anet gave us a huge hint in the new Abaddon glider. Look at what he’s doing its controlling the player with its magic to fly. Also If you look at the left cheek of Balthazar there is a rectangle red glow on it. Looks kinda like one of Abaddon’s eyes. Most may look at it as fire but the fire on him is all around with no definition to it

Also in GW1 nightfall is where he was stopped. So he may need to go there to be released from Balthazar and have his physical form. Kind of like shiro did.

Will just put it out there that Abaddon has been confirmed by devs that he is gone, done, destroyed, dead-o, not coming back. Only the power and memories linked to his former existence were left to exist within Kormir.

The Abaddon weapon set and glider are most likely nostalgia items since the story had a hook in his reliquary. The glider? Is straight up taken out of the last instance of GW: Nightfall as that’s exactly what he looks like in the mission. I sincerely doubt that it was a hint that the dead god has somehow managed to come back.

[Feedback] Mastery Points

I like the idea of masteries but I dislike the need for mastery points in order to complete the training.

I don’t like doing most of the adventures that give them or am not good enough to get gold and only on some am I good enough to get silver. I can’t always get (or get help with) getting story achievements for masteries. The easiest ones are the ones on the map.

But every new release they have a new mastery with a decent MP cost in order to fully train. Which means I always have to go back and do something I hate doing just to be able to train is as sometimes the new map mechanic that you need the mastery for is required to get all the masteries on the new map, but I get what I can.

So if they change the point requirement thing, I will be all in favor of that.

The solar bloom thing on the final boss is very easy:
1. Don’t hit/autoattack them at first
2. Go to the corner next to the generator you want to blow up with your bloom
3. Wait until the bloom has followed to your position as it will move alone without any help or hits at all
4. Take one step back (not a big one, just a little [tap s once or twice]) so that the orb is between you and the generator.
5. Autoattack/Push the orb into/next to the generator
6. Done

Problem most people have: They ignore 1. and hit like stupid as soon as the orbs spawn and then rage/cry about that the orbs are not handling well and everything is bugged. ^^

We were taking the time to get the orb between us and line it up with the generators and we were pushing them with our auto attacks for the most part, occasionally with push skills. We still had issues with the orbs either grouping on one player, refusing to move past a couple of hits and too far from the generators when they blasted, or when they didn’t end up lined up right (if someone ended a little bit off on their trajectory) that they were stuck on the edge of the platform with the generator just out of the blast range.

So pretty much as you explained and yet we still had issues. This is not a case of not understanding and then raging/crying that it’s bugged. No one claimed that it was that the blooms were bugged because we couldn’t do it. They wanted feedback and I explained the issues we had with the bloom movement.

Most of the time when that portion of the fight spawned as we got the flow of it, we were able to get all but one generator down and was able to get that down when the bloom popped up again a minute later. But by that point, there were so many difficulties between the giant AoEs and the other portions of the fight going on simultaneously that we were unable to recover fast enough before we wiped again by another round.

It’s also like, they dont remember the very same mechanic is learned in the first fight /shrug.

As Vinceman said, it does differ from the earlier fight as you are in need of aiming them at something. The spreading AoE does add some pressure into getting them down within a certain amount of time but we eased out of that initial panic after the first few cracks at the fight.

Throwing in my two cents for this since our usual dungeon/fractal group gave this a go last night. We aren’t some highly experienced group, we haven’t done top tier fractals and are working our way up together so we have a lot of learning to do. But we work well together. We learn and adapt quickly. We run pretty much every other fractal well, with only maybe a couple of hiccups as we encounter new mechanics as we advance in fractal level. As this was our first go we did this as the lowest tier, level 25. We did go into this having read over the wiki on some of the basic mechanics.

For the general mechanic of the low gravity, 4 of us loved it and were having a blast and one of us absolutely hated it. The fractal itself was absolutely stunning in appearance – kudos for that!

Boss 1:
We had no issue with this boss. The tactic of having to go around and get the anomalies was easy, the fight was fairly standard but a good intro to the fractal. It was fun to break out of the standard fighting to fly around for other objectives, but we had clear knowledge of where we were flying to and didn’t feel thrown off.

The only annoying thing was something that happened to only one member of the party. He entered the downed state mid-jump into the blue air column that transports the players around the platforms, from the main platform to the first island. Instead of being turned into a mote/orb, it was his downed self floating through the draft and no downed skills were available. He was stuck in the draft, tried using a rez orb, but he was unable to move out of it until it turned him back into a mote and shot him out. But it took 2 minutes for that to happen. By that point the rest of us had continued due to the time limit and he had to run through the AoE aftermath of the anomalies, getting back to us as we were heading back to the boss.

Boss 2:
Favourite fight of the fractal hands down for all of us. It took a moment to get the bouncing of the ball correct with balancing that between the doomed mechanic but it was fun. Going in with the write up from the wiki was one thing but experiencing it and adapting was another. We were cracking up as one was shouting “I’M DOOMED I CAN MAKE IT!” and others shouting “BALL!” through the fight. This fight was the most fun we have had in a fractal in a long time.

Boss 3:
As a complete flip from boss 2, this was one of the worst fights we ever had to do in a fractal. At the lowest tier of this fractal, no doubt.

We took about 6 or 7 attempts before we finally gave up. We chock up the first half up to learning the mechanics of the fight (as the wiki description was bare bones) and getting used to it. Not unusual for a brand new difficult fight.

For the most part, the majority of the fight was tough but wasn’t too awful except for the Solar Blooms portion where we needed them to move to the generators to stop his AoE. The Blooms were such a pain in the kitten that all of us were frustrated. There were times where the blooms would just stop moving. They weren’t near the edge, they were in front of the player, the player was hitting in the direction they wanted, but they wouldn’t budge and stayed there until it exploded.

There were times when the blooms also moved to the very edge of the platform and then also would not move. Several of us were perfectly in line with it when the electric border was not on, and yet it would not move. Only once one of us got it to move after it had hit the edge and that was only because he was basically standing with his character’s toes on the very edge of the platform. They also would occasionally crowd (not all, but 3 on one player when we were all up happened several times) one player made it difficult to get them to separate enough to knock towards the corners of the platform.

I do love, however, that we were able to use the new launch skill to counteract the fear effect if we were hit with it to keep us from running into the electric or off the platform entirely.

Dealing with the blooms that didn’t want to move when they should, getting stuck on the edge, amidst all of the other stuff going on, it felt very very overpowered for a level 25 fractal. The lowest we got on the boss was 28% and that was after many attempts and many rez orbs – I blew through all but one of my whole stash in just trying to get that fight done. Eventually, we had to just stop and go do something else because we were all irritated and frustrated.

So that’s my run down of our first go. I would be happy to provide more information if needed. As a whole, the fractal itself is enjoyable and if the last boss was more properly balanced for the level and some kinks were ironed out, it could easily become one of our favourite fractals.

You can absolutely get back to the house. From the room where you end the instance there is a doorway you can go through. Look for a wooden bridge crossing over to the house (it is a little difficult to see since the instance it so bloody dark).

Edit: This is while you are still inside the trial instance. Not so sure about if you exited the instance.

As far as ascended trinkets, I am only finding two available: Bane’s Tooth and Faolain’s Blossom – both accessory slot items. They have to be unlocked through dropping in Honor of the Waves and Twilight Arbor respectively, but can be bought from the laurel vendor afterwards.

For exotic (and lower) you can get Magi’s items from Karma vendors as well. Here is a list of stuff offered by Karma merchants – just look for Magi prefix and it will tell you what it is and which merchant you can get it from.

The Mordremoth Final Boss 'Penalty Box'

Maethor.2810

I had issues with that part of the story as well. For some reason, the updrafts wouldn’t actually launch me by running or jumping over/on them and I was unable to get myself into the air in time.

So it sucked standing there watching the rest of the party finishing the instance while I did nothing. I just wish they put in some sort of mechanic that would allow anyone trapped in the “penalty box” to get out of it. Give us an Interact somewhere that would spawn a mob we had to kill to be able to get out, or some object we have to destroy. At least then you have a chance to be able to break free and continue, or are at least occupied up there.

The Gift of Battle

Maethor.2810

I am not a PvPer by any stretch, so PvP and WvW terrify me. There’s something about it that just makes my anxiety skyrocket whenever I am in the borderlands, even when I stuck my head in there just to see if there was a zerg/organized group around to run with.

But I find that Edge of the Mists is actually easier for me to deal with. There is slower reward track gain than what you get in the WvW borderlands, even with boosters, but that might be something to look into. There’s frequently zergs running around just capping locations and there’s the occasional skirmish.

Just another suggestion to toss in the hat with the others.

Pigments for The Legend?

For the Glob of Blue Ooze drop, I think the best spawn location for blue oozes is Mangonel Canvern in the northeast corner of Fireheart Rise.

For pouches of blue pigment, you can get those from berry/herb/vegetable nodes as a random drop and you can salvage them from blue dyes (which you can get a bunch of the TP for fairly cheap).

Fast Movement?

There are skills and boosts you can use to up your out of combat running speed. For thief I believe there is a +25% bonus when you have the Signet of Shadows skill on your utility bar.

IIRC there are traits you can use as well. Hidden Thief will give you a 50% boost so long as you are in stealth, but that only applies if you also have the Meld With Shadows slotted (both are in the Shadow Arts line).

So slot the signet and other skills that pop stealth, work those two traits in. You’ll have a base +25% and then pop stealth whenever you have it so you move even faster until the stealth wears off.

Something to look into, and others will likely have some other useful suggestions.

There have been some times where I have run into less than pleasant people or have had a couple of upsetting experiences, but I would agree with this generally. Not sure it’s possible to not have anything like that at all ever. The times I’ve encountered that since launch I can count on one hand and that isn’t something I have ever experienced in any other MMO that I have played.

The community is, on a whole, great. It’s one of the reasons why I love the game so much.

How do i start making legendary equipment?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Maethor.2810

Maethor.2810

I recommend checking out GW2Efficiency to help get started.

Go to Crafting, and type in what you want to craft (Legendary Armor Piece for armor, name of any backpiece or legendary). It will give you a shopping list of all the materials you will need for the item and a step by step guide on crafting it. Just the first generation legendaries, as previously mentioned, you can either obtain through the collection or by buying it.

You can create an API Key for the site through your ArenaNet account if you want to use the “Use Own Materials” feature, which will subtract whatever is in your own account from the shopping list so you have a more real-time view of what is needed.

I hope that they never, ever add WvW map completion back to being a requirement for Legendaries. That was awful and took forever to do for a PvE player.

I know this road sucks for both camps, WvWers needing to do map completion and PvE-ers moaning about needing to do WvW. I’m usually over here groaning about having to do WvW but at least I am thankful that it is just a reward track. I have pretty high anxiety which makes it difficult. Playing WITH other players is doable, playing AGAINST other people seems to make my anxiety go through the roof. WvW is a very, very daunting prospect for me but gawddangit I want my shiny!

So for everyone here basically saying ‘shut up, put your big boy pants on and do it’ – what is timing like? I know there’s variation from server to server, but generally speaking, what times do you guys feel is the most populated window on your servers (most active evenings on weekends, weekend day, evenings later in the week, etc)? What is the window for the least populated times?

One thing I can add to this is explore! At least with one character, take your time around the maps. Talk to people, read text, do each new event you come across, and explore the map. There are some achievements you can unlock, it helps with map completion, and there are so many details on the world that you miss out on if you just breeze through focusing on story or event only content.

Also: grab all crafting materials you can find. If you don’t end up needing them yourself for crafting, you can always turn and sell the stuff on the TP. Higher tier and rare stuff sells.

If you have questions of any sort or need a hand with something, don’t be afraid to give me a shout in game!

As said, it’s the Juggernaut legendary hammer. The golden bit is the active effect of the weapon (other than the quicksilver footfalls). When brandished it gives the player a metallic effect over their armour, the tint of it changes depending on what zone/lighting you’re in, so in DR it looks golden.

or https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Poly-luminescent_Undulating_Refractor_

Very possible, but the sheen looked more gold to me than the yellow in the example Juggernaut screenie.

Gift of Battle Feedback from a PvE Player

I also hate the fact that we need to go a WvW track for the Gift of Battle. I suck at any form of PvP and I have anxiety (which mixes very poorly with a battle with other players) so it never ends well.

But I will echo Flesh Wounds’ suggestion: EotM isn’t as bad as the borderlands. Go in, see if a commander is running a zerg around, pop some boosts and have at it. Occasionally there are some OMG moments if large groups of other players come up but I’m not as bothered by it as I am in the borderland maps. Might be because EotM seems to have a more relaxed feel to it and that usually there’s a group of other people to run with.

LF PvX Guild (NA)

in Looking for...

Posted by: Maethor.2810

Maethor.2810

Hey all!

In the market for a new active guild for myself and definitely one other (up to a total of five of us, as we are a group that frequently plays together). We are looking for an active guild that has a friendly community feel to it and does everything from PvE play to raiding. We are pretty active through the week, though more playtime occurs during the weekends.

What we are looking for:
- Guild missions
- Active community, where there are more than just a couple of people on at a time.
- Does not require 100% rep (though we will obviously rep while running with guildies and during events).
- Fractal and dungeon runs, friendly to people who are newer at running mid to high level fractals.
- Raid training. We would LOVE to learn how to do the raids but require people willing to train us (we follow instruction well, just need to learn what to do and preferred builds/gear to bring). Preferably during evenings on the weekends.
- Willing to help participate in PvE content such as HP runs, meta events, etc.

Our current server home is Dragonbrand and should the guild be centered there, we have a couple interested in WvW. However, that is not a requirement by any stretch.

If you think your guild might be up our ally, let me know and we will be sure to check you out!

Thanks in advance!
