[Suggestions] Guild Hall Improvements/Items

All good ideas so far. My big peeve is the tiny scaling of many items, especially when you consider the cost.

What would be great is a portal that would allow you to travel to either LA or any of the main cities. Yes we can always map out of the guild hall but a portal would just make the guild hall seem more connected to everything, aside from being convenient.

For the record, some of us are happy with the merges; I speak for a lot of IoJers merged with JQ. Which means we don’t want to be moved every three months.

For fellow small servers like ET; make the best of your time there. There’s bound to be guilds, commanders, etc. that will take you under their wing and show you new tactics. It’s a whole different ballgame when you have to deal with massive groups. It can be fun though. Really, I mean that.

To ET and other Low Population Servers thrown into High Population Servers

I come from IoJ and our server has been in the top (3 years ago) and then to the very bottom. I get the culture shock. IF you want to get in on reset with your guild-mates, make sure you are in a squad already; choose which BL you’re going to and as soon as it resets hop in. (Hint-avoid EB) We got 15+ players in right off the bat, and it took about 20 minutes on average for others to get in. After 2.5 hours most of the queues were gone. Reset nights are always the biggest nights, and it should all calm down soon.

One of the major WvW complaints has been not enough players & fights in WvW and this is the first step in fixing things. IoJ had been losing players mainly because of this and we’re not the only ones. Pairing up with a bigger server should not destroy your community, but hopefully most of us smaller servers will find a way to merge with them that adds to the game.

I don’t care for blobs but sometimes you have to team up to capture and defend, and some of those fights can be a lot of fun.

As for new partners ours (JQ) was friendly and we were invited into their TS. We stayed our own IoJ server for less confusion at this stage but, communicate, communicate, communicate.

As for servers who were paired with unsportsmanship like servers, hopefully it was just a few toxic players and not a toxic server, because no one can fix that. .

Guild Mission Bugs

Merry.7290

We’ve had about 15-25 players doing guild missions. The only time everyone got their reward was in WvW and for the bounty.

Treks: 5 man not doable with large guilds. Players have to do them in small groups at different times. Some report no rewards.

Puzzle: Proxemic Lab – No cheese chest at the end; most players didn’t get a reward at the end and no one able to see the maze map it just shows players running around an ice map. Luckily many players knew where to go for the orbs.

PvP: Most never received rewards.

The biggest issue right now is so many players not getting any sort of reward, even when we run a puzzle twice. :/

Preview Guild Halls before Guild Mission?

During one of the last Twitch casts someone answered a question regarding whether or not players could view guild halls before they decided on which ones they wanted. It was said that upon getting the quest you would be able to view a cut-scene that showed both guild halls. Since our large guild wants to vote on which guild hall we want it would be nice to be able to view the halls ahead of time, and not just right before the mission.

During the Twitch cast we saw a small part of a upgraded Lost Precipice guild hall, (which looked gorgeous by the way) but I don’t think we’ve seen much of the Guided Hallow. Is it possible for players to view the halls ahead of time, instead of right at the beginning of the mission?

Guild Hall - Guild Influence

Merry.7290

If its true that it may take 9 months to complete a fully upgraded guild hall then the time gated favor may not be such a big deal.

“Influence trader in Guild Initiative/Guild Plaza will take 10,000 influence in exchange for Favor (there is a daily limit on how much you can exchange)
Influence trader in workshop will trade influence for resonance (resonance will speed up building process for scribing).
Influence trader in Mine that will trade influence for stone weight, giving you a % speed boost in getting stones.”

All that influence will go into your guild hall and if it takes an average of 9 months to build the speed boosts will be welcomed.

World Population Changes Are Coming

in WvW

Posted by: Merry.7290

Merry.7290

This is a good step in the right direction. Maybe when the HoT changes come it will help also.

Sorry, not feeling much sympathy for the top tier servers and their bellyaching. Anet has worked to accommodate the largest servers for the last three years! Anet kept expanding servers so basically anyone could get in any server, even the largest one. Even Edge of the Mists is there so the big servers have something to do while they wait in their queues. Now maybe it’s time to pay attention to smaller servers who like their communities even if they’re small.

That said , part of the problem has always been the mindset of the strictly WvW player base. How many servers have experienced this: WvW 1 guild decides to leave for a better and higher population server. WvW guilds 2 & 3 flip out, decide then and there the whole server will crash and burn, so they follow WvW guild 1 or move up to another server. Which then causes random seasoned WvW players to flip out because the whole server is going to crash and burn and then follow the other players to whatever server that is suppose the have the best WvW experience.

Thereby, the WvWers create what they feared, by leaving their servers with a much smaller population, fighting in a tier where they’re now seriously out-numbered. Of course, it then takes weeks or months to get into the a tier where you’re matched in population, and by then it’s likely you’ve bleed even more players.
Sigh

The only consolation prize is that most, if not all of those guilds end up dis-banding and being absorbed into other guilds, or quitting the game all-together. ;-)

Leaderboards filtering problem

in Forum and Website Bugs

Posted by: Merry.7290

Merry.7290

This is an on-going problem. It especially affects big guilds who really need to see the data. Sometimes I can see the guild list, sometimes not. In fact, most of the time we can’t see it. It makes managing larger guilds extremely difficult.

It seems there is no love for guilds in GW2. In a year and a half since its release the only improvement was to fix the message of the day box.

I had a bearbow who died in first 5 seconds after getting on platform.
The rest of the group rushed to rez him in a bomb and wiped in no time.

I was literally fighting a boss alone with 4 noobs on the ground.

The amount of kittenstorm I unleashed on them after the event was of biblical proportions.

So yeah, they get good, I get nice. This or Anet makes better events.

You just made the point by the original poster. The reaction and frustration players feel after another failed attempt is creating a toxic environment. It’s easy to make stupid mistakes when your not experienced with all the bosses. You don’t always know what went wrong on a platform; one of our guild members lagged and ended up on the platform dead. He’s a very experienced player but I’m sure the other players thought he was just a noob.

I like the Marionette fight but I think it’s too difficult to coordinate in an open area the way that it is. It took me 14 times to finally complete it, and after attempt 9 and 10 I was ready to take a break from the game. I was beginning to feel the rage and frustration some of the players feel when they spout off at other players. I knew what I was doing but it didn’t make a difference. However, since I’m a guild leader I can’t just take ‘time off’ the way one of our members did. A lot of players will just write the LS events off when it ceases to be fun.

Frustration not fun.

Took an hour doing door events in Gendarran.

Wow. I spent 30 minutes trying to run to doors that would disappear as soon as I got close. I was trying for a daily of 5 doors closed and I just gave up because I had to map there, and it was costing so much and I didn’t even get credit when I killed things. Then I tried to go into the dungeon area and only 3 players were there which was not enough to do anything as we got killed over and over by mobs and The Horror.

The really fun part of this is when you spend more silver then you receive in any kind of loot or achievement.

Total cost: about 15 silver for mapping and armor repairs.
Rewards: Some skulls and candy corn.

Please, please fix this. The admin panel is almost useless and the leaderboards are all we have to see the last time someone might have logged in. Even still, players fall off this list. We had a player who had not logged in for over a year and the leaderboards didn’t show him at all.

7+ hours on queue @ WvWvW

in WvW

Merry.7290

Meh. Seven hours is ridiculous but the amount of players allowed into WvW is fixed. Lots of guilds and players transferred to higher population servers for the better rewards and what they may of thought was going to be better game play. Add Seasons into the mix and you have even more players hopping in.

Right now there are population imbalances and Anet will not expand the highest WvW servers to give higher population servers even more advantages. They are giving you overflow maps. You’ll just have to wait….and wait….and wait…

WvW in this game is a joke.

in WvW

Posted by: Merry.7290

Merry.7290

The population imbalance affects a lot of the mid-range tiers to; it’s not just the lowest populations. Many servers are winning due to the population imbalances and that’s what so frustrating to many of us. No matter what you do and how well you play you will lose.

It’s harder to get PvE players into WvW and organize them when every time they hop into WvW they are outmanned 7 to 1 or on a good day 3 to 1. Giving free transfers to players hopping onto lower populations might help a bit. However, a lot of guilds don’t want to lose everything they built on their server and start from scratch, otherwise we would see more players and transferring even if it wasn’t free.

WvW in this game is a joke.

in WvW

Merry.7290

I believe Anet has made a lot of great improvements to WvW; the latest being Seasons. However, the one thing that isn’t addressed are lower population servers who have to fight much higher population servers almost every week. It is demoralizing to fight week after week and lose. Seriously, what can you do when you go onto a map and you’re outnumbered 7 to 1?

Higher population servers get more and more rewards while leeching guilds and players from smaller population servers who will clog up the queues even more, while leaving their previous server with even fewer players out there fighting. Yes, players can transfer to higher population servers and make their server even weaker, but they lose everything they build there.

We all paid the same amount of cash for our games, but we don’t all get the same game play through no fault of our own. Though we had a lot of improvements this is the one issue that never seems to get fixed.

Dear low (wvw) pop servers

in Looking for...

Merry.7290

I just wanted to say there is hope for lower population servers. IoJ was always in the top 2 tiers since the launch then along came the end of free transfers, and viola our server emptied out. Down, down we sank in the rankings week after week of always losing. But we did have a hard-core dedicated base who stuck through the worst of times and now IoJ is in a much better position.

Not everyone wants to be in the top tiers with long queue waits and zergs everywhere you go.

That said, Anet needs to fix some of the WvW problems they made. They really need to do something about servers being forced to compete against much higher population servers. Who they will always lose against because of the sheer sizes of their foes. Do they think this is fun?

I think every Anet employee who deals with WvW needs to spend at least one month on the bottom six servers. Only then could they grasp what these servers are facing.

Just wanted to mention FC put up a much better fight then during our last match.
;-) Good work

This is an amazingly long thread and I believe much of the rage and disappointment is due to the fact the fun factor has been removed from SAB. This post is pretty much from a guild perspective.

World 1. Still great, but making rewards account bound vs. character bound means fewer rewards for everyone. Add to that most dig spots give fewer baubles which means even fewer rewards for playing.

SAB in April was a huge hotspot for our guild. The fact that you could get the chests on every character meant that we could introduce and pull many guild members into SAB and still get our baubles. There was the added possibility of getting a weapon which just made it fun! No more. Players do their one run per day, usually alone and that’s it. The group fun and activity is essentially gone. Why, why, why change this? Who cares if players farm for weapons? It just puts more out on the market for those who missed the whole thing.

World 2. Everyone was looking forward to it, now no one looks forward to trying to finish it. It’s entirely unforgiving; not at all like World 1. The really sad thing is the whole design looks great and looks like it would have been great fun if it wasn’t made so difficult and time consuming. Parts of it are fun but dying over and over is not fun! Seriously, people who finished it are spending hours at it, and even though they have learned it who wants to spend hours going through again?

The gathering hub for players was a nice addition and upon release was filled with players; now you find 1 or 2 players there. That pretty much says it all. It’s as though Anet decided they do not want to see the kind of activity in SAB we had in April so it was decided to reduce player numbers by 95%. Mission accomplished.

I am no longer looking forward to worlds 3 and 4 being completed.
