Maybe there should be a certain percent chance of you getting maybe 1 laurel pr. completed event?
So, you want a company that can’t even seem to figure out how to give a proper percent chance of getting butter, cinnamon, or walnuts…to give you free laurels too?
Splendid idea! /sarcasm
No, you can’t switch traits while in combat.
But then you have to think, you’re dealing with Risen…they’re likely to have poison.
And you say your build can solo champions…what about champions that cast burn, bleed and poison on you? :P
Well, I was running down through an area with such a range of monsters it wouldn’t have mattered. The area I was in wasn’t mainly risen. It just changed to that in the bottom corner of the map where that event was going. I’d been fighting grawl before that.
You’re assuming they can hit me half the time. I’m one of those people that knows how to get them in kite range and hit with the sword’s reach but not get hit much myself..so I can stack bleed and keep them crippled or just out of reach. I’m not one of those people that stands still and just absorbs everything…even with multiple regen stack and crazy armor/vitality. For those times they actually get one of the conditions on me, the regen usually takes care of it or I cripple them and get just out of range for it to heal up again.
Edit to add : People usually yell at me because I’m moving so much and they can’t hit the target because it’s chasing me.
I wasn’t attacking your build, just trying to offer advice. The reason NPC conditions ‘last so long’ is usually because they can stack them to last longer and this is because multiple of the same NPC can use the same conditioning attack which will last longer on you. They also tend to be somewhat potent because NPCs attack less (usually once every 1-2 seconds) vs the speed of player attacks.
Also, just saying, but pretty much EVERYONE will have a back-up when conditions rear their head. You don’t want to be caught with your pants down, low on health and 25+seconds of poison on you. It’s a noobish way to die that can easily be avoided in most cases.
My build almost never dies and I generally solo champions. It was just a certain instance with this poison issue ‘over the long term’ because durations are so long and they stack up more.
Any idea whether you can swap trait plaques in combat or does it lock them in? That would’ve been the only way to change to quick breathing…as I was running around solo map completing and just happened upon the mesmer doing the event so I decided I’d help them out…but then I was stuck in combat the whole event and couldn’t change anything.
Cripple (Hyenas usually…)
Weakness (Fight ogres at high levels and see how long this lasts on your characters. It’s not blockable/avoidable and multiple ogres seem to stack it for extreme durations on you. I’ve had to just stand there for about 30 seconds after a fight to get it to wear off, just to heal up.)
Poison (Most undead.)
Burning (Flame Legion turrets stack it high…example Iron Marches area. Literally killed my thief 6 times just trying to get a vista with the turrets which can’t be killed very fast because they haven’t fixed the objects yet.)
Honestly, bleeds are the only one that seem ‘OK’ from NPC’s, except when you get Branded Devourers proc’ing multiples on you. Then it’s ridiculous.
There aren’t a lot of NPC’s that use Confuse…but that one’s kind of easy to avoid..since you’re just hitting yourself. So stop attacking.
I have 5 80’s, a 75, and a 64 (Will have 7 80’s if I don’t just give up on this game which I’m getting closer and closer to approaching.)
I’ve been able to see a lot of the content, but no maps 65+.
I’m just giving my opinion, and from what I’ve seen, condition durations are almost double or triple what we players can dish out.
I’ve just been selling my extra boxes over 250 on the TP.
I’m slightly more lucky than some folks, I’ve had about 3-4 keys drop off random monsters. Had a few ‘chains’ where the boxes I opened had another key also for about 6-8 boxes. Apparently you get a few keys for story completion, but I usually only got one because I really haven’t bothered with the story after a certain point on all my characters. Also map completion has given me quite a few and I hear daily gives one if you’re lucky but I haven’t seen one yet.
It’s basically a gimmick they are using to lure people into gem buying.
Most cash-shops are doing it totally wrong. This one is no different.
OK, I joined this thread to point out that durations on conditions for NPC’s are too long at higher levels.
Not to have people attack my build or play-style.
‘If you can’t say something nice, then say nothing at all.’
Hmm. Haven’t seen that yet, but it wouldn’t surprise me. The easiest way to knock this daily down is just check the map for a ‘contested’ waypoint and go rez NPC’s there. (Usually an event going on too…so you can sometimes jump in for daily event count.)
One of the easiest places to get free corpses to rez is where the giant is beating on Nageling in Diessa Plateau, and since that’s basically just out the gate from Black Citadel…all it takes is a little running and avoiding the giant’s aggro radius. He’ll even promptly wipe them out again for you if he gets too close.
Amusingly, I died earlier today from a miscalculated jump and said exactly where my body was in map chat and not a soul showed up to rez me and I left it sitting there for awhile while I did stuff.
Sadly, the daily actually reset on me today while I was at 70% on the healer and 80% on daily event (almost finished). I was a tad perturbed. Wonder when they are making it so we only have to do a subset of them like they supposedly claimed they were.
I’ve had people who run around and purposely bring things to me before (Had a guy do it like 4 times in Gendarren Fields, so I told them ‘If you can’t kill it yourself, don’t lure it to other people.’…and his response was that it was a total accident and that he was under leveled and trying to finish the heart. Right. Like I believe that.)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Dyes-Please-make-them-account-bound/first
Yes, they do.
Edit : I haven’t been bumping it much anymore because it seems like the community is half on my side and half on the ’Let’s give them more money for gems’ side.
It’s not just poison that needs nerfed. All conditions at higher levels last much longer than they should.
With my banner support warrior (30 toughness/30 Vit) who has almost permanent regen on his banners + adrenaline heals + signet that heals…I still got knocked down by poison that wouldn’t wear off while doing a risen event. So basically x3 regen stack and poison still overpowered it and slowly but effectively killed me. (Lucky for me, I was helping a mesmer and I told them I was about to go down before it hit…so they were able to pop some moves to come in and get me up.)
Edit : Forgot to mention that he had healing banner up too, which boosts heal power.
i was running a 10/0/30/30/0 build on my warr through orr, i dont see what your issue is? unless you built a defensive/supportive character without any condition removal? which seems like a pretty big blunder considering warr has great access to condition removal… shake it off is an amazing skill that would serve as a stun break and cleanser on a 25 sec cooldown (one banner on its own is capable of providing perma regen)
‘So basically x3 regen stack and poison still overpowered it’
3 Bar of Adrenaline – 360 health every 3s
regen – 5 + (1.5625 *80) + (0.125 *300) = 167.5 health every sec (assuming you have 300 healing power and are lvl 80)
healing signet (btw; in orr any warr should have either shake it off or mending imo) = 200 + (300 * 0.033) = 209.9 health each secim not sure how rounding is calculated… so im going to assume its rounded down
(209*3)(167*3)167 = 1295 health every three secspoison (assuming a mob has 2k condition damage, is lvl 80 and is subject to the same formula) 4 + 80 + (0.1 * 2000) = 284
284*3 = 852 damage every three secs1295*0.66 (heal reduction from poison) = 854.7
again for simplicity ill assume its rounded down… 854-852 =2
so assuming you had the buffs you claim to have had, the mob had 2k (or mobs are subject to different equations) then you’d’ve been outhealing poison damage by 2 every 3 seconds… though some of this is speculative (mainly the mob equation/stats) and is relying on forumlas from the wiki…
It was one of those ‘8 waves’ quests with the Risen Hyleks, the plague bearer guys that explode (have to dodge), plus thralls and brutes included. We made it through 5-6 waves before the poison finally dropped me. It wouldn’t drop off me between the waves. I run with all banners except strength/condition banner (Which is covered by Empower Allies) to boost parties I run across randomly in PvE.
Someone else told me ‘run with shake it off trait’…but you can’t do empower + regen banners + banner CD trait AND do that.
‘But you could do without one of those banners’ – But what’s the point in running a banner support if you can’t use banners and have to trait a utility to condition remove?
Now, maybe if I had superior runes of the dolyak and had the extra regen tick from that (assuming it stacks with the others) it might have gone differently.
My biggest issue is that banner build basically makes you a huge tank but you can’t do much damage. A slight tweak to ‘summoned banners cause damage’ trait which gave banners a small/slow tick of AoE dmg instead of ‘when summoned’ would enhance the build, but that’s for another thread.
I run with Sword/Warhorn.

If you want more space for your materials, use the bank space.
If it is full, buy more with gems. Stop being entitled.
No bankspace, no materials. What so hard about that?
You’re making the assumption they haven’t bought all the space there is and filled it with something or other already.
I personally have all account bank space filled.
6 full of ‘character specific’ dyes…1 loaded out with food for cooking that won’t go in collections and can’t be used at my current cooking level, and one space to work with for everything else…I am currently filling tier 1-3 worth of extra crafting materials up to 500…plus all the other random things that have no place to be stored.
I also have 7 character slots and crafted 15 slot bags for all of the characters and even bought an extra bag slot on one character with gems. (5 level 80’s, 1 75, and 1 64.)
I’ve already got a thread suggesting they make dyes account bound going (which would give me all that space back), so the only other solution I see is that they raise collections or give us even more account bank spaces to buy with gems.
This thread has my support.
I agree. Something like this does need to be added.
I can’t count the amount of times I’ve run over to/towards someone’s corpse to have them disappear on me.
I’ve also had a few times where I got to them, then trash jumped me and I had to fight it and they port out and I’m left wondering what the heck/why I bothered.
Community, hmph.
I haven’t bought a single dye from the TP, nor from the gem store. Nor will I (unless they go account bound…then I might fill in the gaps in my color scheme.)
My mesmer is almost level 70 (66 or something and rising fast with the new dailies.). Once I hit 80 with it, I’ll probably get back on my last non-80 (Engineer) and hit 80 with it, then I’ll have 7 80’s.
I actually did recover the cost of the character slot by selling stuff along the way. (Surprising.)
I have yet to even visit a level 65+ map. There’s still a bit more for me to explore, but I dunno how much longer I’m going to put up with this no space dilemma.
These dyes eat up way too much space. Plus now with the new dailies I keep getting other random space eating things like full stack Black Lion Salvage kits (I have like 8 of these now…because someone told me to save them to salvage exotics…once I get in the higher maps. And I haven’t really been needing to save anything out of the stuff I salvage anymore.)
Guess they’d rather someone who plays like I do quits their game rather than change a feature. ~shrug~
Well, I can see why people enjoy mesmers now.
Finished all the starter areas with it. Level 39 already. Did a couple jumping puzzle chest runs with all my 80’s and it gave me a little bit of stuff to sell and selling all the ‘extra’ materials while I was running around helped. Recouped 10g of the 14g I spent on the character slot. I dunno why at higher levels it seems like gold stops coming in as well…
All that saved gear for the new character got moved off so my guys have a tiny bit more space to play with. Still have way too much space wasted by dyes though.
Well, I just spent my time pushing my characters into the 40-60 range maps and learning them, and now have 5 80’s and 1 64 and spent almost 14g on a new character slot to try out a Mesmer.
That pretty much left my ‘extra’ gold depleted. (Will sell the mats I gather with new character to replenish, but I doubt it’s going to rake even close to that much in.)
I did finally push my crafting up and find the materials to be able to make 15 slot bags for all of them (except for craftsman’s bags because my tailor is lagging behind majorly because of how little tailoring supplies drop even with my salvaging every single light armor below green level. Also, can’t find nearly enough of the supplies I need to make the items…because when I go out and ‘farm’ the guys that drop it…they end up dropping nothing/vendor trash which is ridiculous. They shouldn’t be dropping NOTHING for killing them.).
This will probably be my ‘last’ character before I move onto another game unless this dye situation gets resolved soon.
As for them making dyes purchase-able by daily tokens…that doesn’t solve the problem. It’s just basically a ‘kick the can down the road’ approach like Congress has been doing with the debt ceiling situation.
I’ll play until I can’t stand it anymore then I’ll go find another game.
right beside a waypoint with three tents in either the Henge of Denravi or the other swampy area; every time I’ve been there, all the NPCs are dead and standing on their corpses are a handful of bandits. Clearing out the bandits spawns more bandits, and they seem to be never-ending; if you get enough of the NPCs back on their feet, they’ll live for a short while but the endless waves of bandits eventually overwhelm them. I’ve seen people show up at the waypoint and get overwhelmed by the problem as well. People will fill their Heart mission up killing the endless waves but then abandon the little camp, assuring its demise once more. There are eight to ten spawning, usually in the sequence I kill them with a 30sec to 60sec delay (except the first time around; they go down and nigh-immediately respawn at a distance and run in), and with that many spawning it can be quite difficult to even keep track of spawn rates, let alone clear the area and revive all the NPCs.
Unless you meant for me to practice my bunker-builds there.
Basically everything you just said there sounds just like a bugged/broken event at the top end of Hidden Lake in Brisban Wildlands that I reported a few patches back. Except that there was no event showing there, it was like they just kept spawning in and tackling that camp. There was a couple people just sitting there killing them steadily, and rezzing the guys, but they just kept infinitely coming. Reminds me of the Dredge Mining Suits which are practically impossible to kill if you don’t have an interrupt because they can infinitely summon stuff in. There are some serious bugs with the spawn rate and with many of the events…
As a person who’s regularly played subscription games for years now (About 7 months or so on Runescape as a paid member, 2+ years on WoW, 1 year on LOTRO, 6 months on SWTOR, and a few other games for small periods of time), I actually quite agree with most of these comments.
I joined Star Trek Online and played for a couple weeks and loved it enough that I threw down for Lifetime Subscription, and I haven’t even really played it that much. (I went to pay full $300 price, and they were doing some stupid thing with their accounts and wouldn’t accept my CC…then a ‘deal’ dropped it to $200 and it went through…they basically screwed their own company out of $100.)
This game, I was quite willing to toss some money at the gem store to support the company. Then I noticed the dyes were character bound, and made a thread asking them to re-address the issue. It’s now had over 5,000 views and 200 some comments and not a single word from the staff members and I’ve proceeded to use in-game gold to buy all the gems required for all the account storage space and a single character bag slot and character slot instead.
I just basically used my last saved portion of gold to buy one more character slot to try out a mesmer before I leave the game. (I almost have 6 80’s now. 2 80’s, a 79, two 74’s, and a 64.)
I’m really saddened to see greed has taken over companies so much that they aren’t even willing to listen to their player-base and would rather ‘milk’ them for what little they can get out of them rather than keep them around with stuff they want.
SWTOR played the same nonsense game…leaving a trail of breadcrumbs just big enough for players to keep ravenous and hoping for more, then they went F2P. Guess where that box is now? Tucked in the top shelf of my closet and probably won’t be pulled out again.
Is this what Arena-net wants for their game?
I just shilled out 7g on the exchange for 400 gems to buy an extra bag slot on one of my characters to use the holiday 15 slot bag for dye storage on him because he was totally full. I have maybe 20g left and I’m not even into 60-70 range maps yet, so I’m really not raking in much income either.
Many of my characters are filling up/down to 2 bags left. When I can’t even play my characters, it makes me want to quit the game. I now have 2 level 80 characters (with 4 more not far behind. One is 79. Rest are between 60-75 range.)
If dyes would go account bound I’d have 6 account storage spaces back and loads of bag space back and would probably stick around for quite awhile longer. (Still trying to push crafting up there, and wouldn’t mind purchasing a 7th character slot to try out the mesmer class.)
As it is, I’m barely able to play my characters and have no room to even transfer things back and forth without doing a lot of character hopping.
Please for the love of jeebus make dyes account bound!
An example of a instant respawn I had recently was seconds after killing the ‘Champion Ogre Chieftain’ in Blazeridge Steppes just northeast of the Gastor Gullet point of interest…he respawned almost on top of where he died with like 2 ogres and their pets as backup…right after I’d just slowly solo’d him and his flunkies down (they re-spawned 4 times during the fight).
I barely had enough time to open the chest that appeared for defeating him before they were on me again. (Killed him again just because I don’t like leaving nasty champions sitting around. I had the event for the first one, but the second one didn’t have an event.) Something with that much life should NEVER re-spawn that fast, no matter what.
I went through the same area on a different character and another character and I killed what I assume was the same guy but by the point of interest west of Behem Gauntlet on Blazeridge Steppes and after we downed him I smacked a building like 2 times and he spawned again right behind me. So maybe this re-spawn is on purpose.
The mid-high maps are practically dead zones now (I rarely see people) and yet we have these champions with a fortune in HP walking around re-spawning really fast. I’m starting to see why everyone just runs through zones and doesn’t bother anymore.
I’m starting to agree with the comment I saw another person make in another thread. ‘This is the most Massively Soloplayer Game I’ve ever played’
I’d like a midnight ice if you have one to spare.
Kinda like a wintersday present.
Oddly enough, I haven’t found one of those yet, even with my piles of dyes.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
this thread has actually stuck to the rules and kept it all on one thread bravo, this thread may actually get the attention fo the developers and have something actually done about it rather than thrown to the side with the other 50 million identical threads with the same people QQing on them
I’m starting to wonder why we haven’t gotten an acknowledgement or a comment from A-net staff.
am i the only one getting the dyes on multiple characters? for the past few days when i find a dye and open it on one character and it appears on my other characters. the ones i unlocked before are still only on one character though.
I opened one of my multitude of extra dyes just to test and it only worked on the character. So you glitched somehow and got lucky or something.
Edit to add : Alas, one of my characters has become un-use-able because of all these holiday items + dyes + cooking supplies that won’t go in collections. When I start losing the ability to play my characters because of the storage problems caused by these dyes, it’s probably time to re-think the dye system.
I have all 8 account storage spaces bought and 6 of them are full of dyes and more in my characters bags. If they would just put in account bound I’d use them all and sell off the extras on TP and be able to actually enjoy the game with storage ability. As it is, I’m pondering quitting and moving to another game.
(edited by MilitiaMasterV.7216)
I missed out on them being sold by vendors, but luckily was able to pull enough in to push me through the few recipes that required them and now have a tiny pile (54) of them stashed in collections.
But I also run 6 characters (Currently 60-77 range) so I brought in a lot more than your average player.
There was a period there where I literally ran out numerous times and couldn’t find more, so I agree that the drop rate should be boosted.
I haven’t checked the Abyss dye for quite awhile but it was 13g last time I checked.
Also, it could just be me, but it feels like, when the player gets knocked down, it takes a lot longer to get up then when the NPC gets knocked down. Worst of all, many npcs are immune to our CCs yet happily spam their own..
Nah, it isn’t just you. Even the longest of player-based Knockdowns don’t get anywhere near the duration of the shortest of mob Knockdowns.
It’s not just knockdowns. A lot of skills seem to have way longer durations from the monsters than we players do. Hyenas with their cripple, Ogres with their weakness, and a few others.
If they want to lose players, they should just keep doing what they are doing…
If you roll a pure toughness/vit armored build you’d see that a majority of the skills they put in this game are mainly to waste your time or stack infinitely. (For example, Dredge mining suits can summon dredge, and keep summoning them until you die. If you’re slow at killing they can easily overwhelm you.)
I’m running a banner support warrior spec’d this way and the only way he can kill anything is very very slowly with a sword bleeding them out. He rarely dies, but the trade-off is that I can’t kill things. The good thing about him is that he can solo many champions without a problem. (I was even playing around with Kol the giant up in Harathi Hinterlands with only one other person there…we weren’t able to kill him because he’s got way too much life and he kept downing the mesmer that was helping so I had to keep running over to pick them up and he followed me just out of aggro range and invulnerabled and went back to his spot. We got him half dead before that happened.)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Dyes-Please-make-them-account-bound/first
I’ve had to link this on numerous threads…people really need to start doing searches before posting.
Here’s an idea: what if you could right-click on any non-standard dye color and choose “undo” which would essentially rebottle it and then allow you to go give the dye to another character on your account?
Essentially, you could freely transfer dye from one character to another, but only ONE character could have that particular dye at any moment. So if you wanted two or more characters to have the same dye, you’d either need to create it, get it in a drop or buy it.
I think that would be a happy medium between letting players move dye from one character to another, but also keep ArenaNet’s making money off dye in the Black Lion Trading Post.
Think right click already sets them in the favorites list (Which should just be made cross account instead so we can use our favorites on another character.). I like the idea, but it doesn’t solve the issue of all these dyes pillaging my storage space…it sounds like it might make it worse as after they are pulled out they may not stack due to poor programming with the other dyes of the same kind and end up creating 800+ dyes worth of wasted storage. That would be an even worse catastrophe.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Dyes-Please-make-them-account-bound/first
Five pages on the subject. I don’t even think they read these suggestions.
I use shortbow way more often than I use longbow, but that’s because I enjoy firing fast and stacking the heck out of bleed. But that tends to mean I’m always a little closer (poison shot) and could really use that short range throw on the traps to throw down a extra cripple or some more damage once in awhile. Especially when my pets go down and I’m having to do the kiting thing.
Instead I have to run TOWARDS them, or lure them to place a trap rather than just toss it in front of them. And you need the quick draw for the cripples with short bow.
(edited by MilitiaMasterV.7216)
I just recently hit level 60 on my ranger and was re-specing my traits and went to try and put Quick Draw (Both bow skills recharge faster) with Trapper’s Expertise (Traps use ground targeting and are 50% larger) and Trap Potency (Trap conditions last twice as long and traps recharge faster) together on the same trait line, but it wouldn’t let me.
My suggestion is to move one of these skills to the first tier so you can use all of them together.
It seems logical to me that a ranger would learn how to shoot faster over time AND be able to learn how to make their enhanced traps faster and be able to throw them out instead of running into the thick of things. (Assuming you believe a trap could be thrown to begin with without triggering it…which the ground targeting skill seems to imply.)
As it currently stands, you can use either Quick Draw or Trapper’s Expertise but not both.
Was this specifically meant to make it so you couldn’t be a bow user AND a trapper?
I did search, didn’t find anything pertaining to account bound.
You didn’t search very hard.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Dyes-Please-make-them-account-bound/first
Found like two other events while exploring that were broken. The skritt want you to save their trinkets north of where that bandit champion named Rob something spawns, but nothing works on the event. Also the save ‘Witt’ or something event by the chaos magic commune skillpoint is broken, his cage is broken, he’s out, but he’s just standing there.
That’s just the events in Brisban, I’ve found numerous others on other maps.
I don’t think it should be ‘removed’, but I also don’t get why most games make it into an ‘either/or’ situation. Why not just make a slotted section on armor specifically for MF stuff only (and increase the value as you get higher level up to a certain %) that doesn’t interfere with the other more valuable stats? This seems like a ‘no brainer’ to me. /shrug
I’ve bought 7 account storage spaces now (Think that’s max, haven’t tried another.) 6 of them are full of dyes with some spilling over into bags. One character slot. All with in-game coin.
I would really like to see this implemented so I could actually use these dyes and be able to use my storage for it’s intended purpose.
Hidden Lake survivor’s camp (The vendor camp at the north of the lake) bugged and has an infinite supply of bandits attacking it (With no event even going up there.).
Also, the Destroy 4 fissures and Veteran to open the skritt town portals bugged at 3/4 fissures with the veteran dead and no fissure to be found at the location so the town is permenantly closed.
Stormbluff Isle server.
I’ve now bought 4 account storage spaces and a new character slot with in-game coin via the exchange. That’s 3200 gems worth of income they’ve lost.
This character specific dyes idea is working out great for them, isn’t it?
Why I refuse to play this game ever since I got to 80...

Interesting.
I’m in the process of building a new desktop rig (i7 3770K, 16GB DDR3 1600, nVidia GTX Geforce 680) and I wonder how it’ll run on there.
I’ve been running it on this laptop from like 2 years ago and everything is on low settings and it keeps causing irrecoverable black/blue screen errors when I go near certain areas (flowing water generally, or too much action on the screen, or a few other certain scenarios), and I’m running a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 on here. (Dual core 2.53 GHz, 4 GB RAM)
Granted, this laptop isn’t even close to top end gear, but it should be able to play it without these crashes with everything on low settings. (Keeps telling me to update the driver, but every time I tell it to update the driver it says it has the most up to date already on there.)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Dyes-Please-make-them-account-bound/first
I’ve already made my opinion pretty clear.
Could do with or without an achievement for it though. (Achievements in games purely seem like an attempt to keep you playing…when you really haven’t ‘achieved’ much IMO.)
Bought the 3rd account bank space, and finally feeling less cluttered and able to hunt down materials and so I’ve finally maxed out most of the first tier supplies and been able to just start selling extras so I almost have enough for a 4th account bank slot. 3 of them are full of dyes and still overflowing with dyes. (That’s over 90 dyes)
They are steadily losing any income they could have generated from me. I’m guessing this was not their plan when they went ‘character bound’ on dyes.
I’ve also been having an interesting game bug/crash related to the dyes. I figured out you could transfer a non-soulbinding dyed item to another character and have them wearing the dye even though they haven’t learned that dye. But it’s now causing any new armor I put on to keep the previous dye look (when I switch armor it’s already pre-dyed the same color) and it won’t let me dye the item any other color. Now when I try and dye the item a different look and have the hero window up and take the item off, it causes a game crash with a ‘send a report to Anet’ window (which I’ve sent every time). I’m guessing this is related to the fact that they originally programmed it for account bound and then when they took it away they fudged something in the code so it’s causing bugs.
If they would just put the dyes to account bound again, I’d have all this extra space and wouldn’t need to waste more in-game coin to purchase more space and when I actually got to the stage where I need more storage again I’d just buy some gems with real money.
I just had a long battle where I was running circles with a champion frost imp on my thief and I had him down to that last sliver of health and I was low on health too, so I did a dive up to him to finish him and he went invulnerable and killed me. He went invulnerable 2 other times during the fight which made it even more difficult. I agree something needs to be done because this is silly.
I was wondering if that would start becoming an issue. I have yet to see it on my support warrior, but then I only really drop my banners during major battles.
I had a similar idea as Banewrath’s, but instead of having a bunch of banners sticking out of your backside, make them into patches or symbols (downside is this reminds you of sigils) that glow on your armor instead. I mean, granted it has less panache than a bunch of banners, but that way they’d stick with the warrior so you don’t just leave them behind if the battle moves away…
Or go with Banewrath’s idea and have all 4 sticking up from behind you, one sticking left, one right, one middle, and the elite (since it’s ‘bigger’ and ‘flashier’) sticking up behind that middle one.
I mean, does anyone ever really pick them up and use the skills except for the speed boost? I know I never use them for fighting because they are junk. I try and pick up the precision one and use it’s skill for Fury boost once in awhile, but that’s about it.
I would think the skills they were programmed with are why they might be reluctant to do away with the actual banners…
You may not like the price of black, white and other desirable dyes, but I challenge the OP to attempt to acquire one Abyss Dye.
I have a Abyss dye sitting in my storage. Along with about 7 other ‘rare’ colors.
I don’t much care about the ‘price’ of them because I would never purchase them with in-game coin OR with gems.
It’s sad to see how much greed has taken root. "Oh boo hoo, it’ll become worthless.’
It’s already worthless. It’s a pixel on a screen that is colored for goodness sake. Just because they ‘harnessed’ it to allow you to dye up to 4 places on your armor and you folks are acting like it’s some ‘godly’ aspect of the game, doesn’t mean it’s that big a deal.
The fact that they changed it to character bound after promising account bound shows that they wanted to nickel and dime you people for every little bit they could to pay for future expansions or to put more money in their/their investors pockets. This type of tripe disgusts me and is why I will now probably NEVER pay them more money than the base cost of the game.
I would be way more willing to actually throw down some more money to support the game if it wasn’t built to pander to this mentality.
Well, I’ve bought 2 account bank slots with in-game coin now. Saving for 3rd just for dye storage. (3rd might give me room to store other things.).
That’s 600 gems worth of ‘profit’ for their company they’ve lost. (Soon to be 900 gems) How is this a ‘good’ thing? I’m guessing they aren’t raking in a whole lot on the dyes from the stores to cover the amount they are losing from people like me.
I’m not even going for a ‘collect them all’…I’ve been selling the ones I would definitely never use. I just don’t think I should have to re-collect the dyes (especially the rare ones) 5 times (Or however many the account space limit for characters is because I’ll probably eventually buy another few character slots.).
Still supporting account bound dyes. (Go ahead and lower the drop rate…I don’t mind acquiring them slower if it means I can actually use my load of dyes and stop storing them all.)
I do agree they should give better drops since they are more challenging, but I really don’t like how much life/defense a lot of the bosses/champions seem to have. It seems like you’re chipping at a giant and so you get a tiny loot drop for doing so.
Chests are another whole matter. "Oh, I completed taking down these champions…woot chest!’ or ‘Oh I finished this jumping puzzle…yay, a chest!’…then you get the blue rewards and are like…‘Uh…that was disappointing.’.
It’s really silly to not do a thread search.

Apparently a moderator edited posts in. At least someone from over there looked at the thread.
Still supporting this.
Feel free to bump my Dye thread.
Still having storage issues. Trying to buy a second load of gems with in-game coin to get more account storage space, but the price of gems keeps jumping and I’ve only been able to salvage almost 3 more gold from selling extra supplies on Trading Post. Haven’t checked the price yet today, but I hope the amount of gems/per coin went back up enough to where it’s purchase-able. The high end players are probably flooding the market now that they are farming coin now. Sigh.
Any chance they (Anet) will be changing this (dyes) soon?
