I like the idea of trading teq spoons for something.
What would be the point of making the portals common enough that 100 people would get more than 1 during an hour of playtime?
Super stress test
Those are called OPEN betas.
Make no mistake. This is still a stress test.
It’s just that we’re the ones experiencing the stress.
I agree with OP but have a different proposal:
Make all the movement speed buffs and reduced fall damage part of the Mastery system.
Damask is perfectly fine the way it is. If you’re not happy with the accumulation of cloth, I may have posted a way to get around this. You’d have to dig through my posts, as I’m too lazy to look myself. The quickie version is to use Karma to buy Linen based armors, forge them, and then salvage. By doing this, I’ve made stacks of Linen to both sell on the TP, and to use to make more Damask. If you’re worried about Karma costs, Karma comes by fairly easily in WvW or EotM.
But it is broken.
The price of Damask is an outlier given the prices of the other T7 mats. The disparity between light armor and the other two sets is too pronounced.
Whatever suggestions you have on farming cloth are a different matter entirely. The issue here is the value of the mats in relation to its counterparts.
Even if Player A farms all the cloth for his ascended set, there is the opportunity cost of not selling those mats for gold.
If all T7 mats were expensive, that would be one thing. But currently it’s very lopsided.
It’s not just T5 or T7 cloth. Cloth is expensive across the board.
Just put in cloth nodes like mulberry bushes or jute plants in the wild, so they can be gathered like ores.
Or just make it so harvesting existing plants also procs cloth drops.
I actually wish they’d just increase everyones’ movement by 25% and remove all the signets and passives that raise movement.
Concur.
If they want some sort of restriction, tie it in with masteries or whatever.
Just make it so the 25% applies to out-of-combat movement, so swiftness still has some strategic value.
Changing "We don't rez the dead" mentality.
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: MrIllusion.5304
I imagine that the statement “we don’t rez the dead” is not the plan the Dev’s have for reviving people. I remember when for the first year you could guarantee people would rez you Dead or Downed in the middle of a fight. Certain groups and fights forced this mentality into the norm.
Err…no…
“Strategy” forced this mentality into the norm. This is the right mentality.
People do zerg rez in dungeons if it helps the encounter. Not so much against world bosses because that’s the nature of the fights.
What’s the strategic benefit of not waypointing in a Teq or Golem Mark 2 fight?
Placing additional incentives is the wrong step. Imagine if people started rezzing dead players for a buff to Magic Find, not because the added firepower is crucial to the encounter.
The Living World continues the storyline after the end of the Zhaitan fight. After HoT launches it will probably do the same for the expansion.
This doesn’t include other types of updates like Queen’s Pavillion or SAB which take place in Tyria and is outside of the Living World. Those should still happen in spite of the expansion.
Secondly the Living World concept was meant to be in lieu of a proper expansion. If HoT sells better than anticipated, there’s no guarantee they won’t drop the Living World concept completely and focus on traditional expansions.
In which case you don’t even need to worry about missing out on Living World.
Could just make multiple champ branded spawn on top of the zerg.
As they hit the ground they do aoe damage. The champs then take turns to do wide area feedback.
I would so stop AFKing
As an ethnic Chinese, I don’t really understand the fascination with Cantha.
(Warning: Long)
As far as Asian influences go, Cantha in GW1 is simply the most stereotypical aspects of East Asian culture mixed together into one single identity. GW2 already has content that is heavily influenced by Asian culture, and in my opinion, far more consistent: The Kodan.
The part that irritates me the most about Cantha is their naming conventions. It’s a small issue I know, but it’s very jarring considering how much consistency is present in the other races. “Xunlai” could easily be a made-up Chinese word, but this exact spelling is unpronounceable in Japanese. And for an English-speaking audience, I can only imagine how clumsy it must be to talk about a specific NPC but not know how to articulate the name.
In comparison, the Kodans have very flowery descriptive names which resemble Native American names. But these are easily translated in Chinese, Korean and Japanese. In fact, many Chinese names do sound this flowery when literally translated into English. In popular Chinese culture, two of the most well known comic characters are called “Striding Cloud” and “Whispering Wind”. Do these sound very Kodan to you?
The Kodans’ dwellings closely resemble Chinese temples. I hear a lot of positive feedback about how the Chinese New Year decorations remind them of Kaineng City or Imperial China. But the Kodans have been in the game since launch!
The part I like most is that the Kodan’s go far beyond mere aesthetics. Some quotes from Wiki to show what I mean:
“The kodan believe that their god, Koda, is the creator of the world, and teaches the importance of balance.”
“The kodan also believe that everyone will always be reborn as their own race until they reach a higher stage of enlightenment, after which they reincarnate a step up in the spiritual ladder.”
Does this remind you of any religion? The former is very similar to Taoism, which is widely practised among Chinese. The latter is very similar to Buddhism, which is widely practiced among Indians, Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans.
TL;DR:
1) GW2 already has Asian-themed content. If players truly want more Asian-themed content, then have Anet expand on Kodans.
2) As far as we know, Kodans have not created any negative political fallout, even though it is a melting pot of Asian cultures. There must be some other reservation why Anet is reluctant to broach the topic of Cantha.
I think after the two Shadow of Dragon and Teragriff fights, it’s safe to assume that we won’t see a repeat of the famed Zhaitan Press One fight.
Most likely there will be a Personal Story green marker to start the instance, followed by a purple marker for the achievements. I notice that the last few episodes have achievements that are more catered for group play, even though they can be done solo.
If they want to throw in a large scale epic battle, they can place the purple/green marker at a location that is only accessible after a Vinewrath-like fight.
Maybe we do an epic battle against the exterior “Body of Mordremoth”, afterwhich a small group can breach inwards and do an instanced battle with the “Heart of Thorns”.
Need more than 1 Specialization to make sense
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: MrIllusion.5304
The description before the PAX annoucement was something along the lines of “framework to expand the GW2 universe” yada yada.
And this is exactly what I expect a “framework” to be: a platform or mechanic to support some concept.
I see the point of HoT is to introduce a mechanic where characters can unlock specialisations and learn new skills or traits.
Once that mechanic is added in, then it’s just a matter of using this system for future additions.
Just to give an analogy, in one of the Elder Scrolls games (can’t remember if Morrowind or Oblivion) there was a DLC that introduce some sort of pack mule for your character. It seemed underwhelming at first, but this DLC allowed modders to tap into a new way for characters to access the inventory of NPCs, giving rise to a whole new generation of companion NPCs mods.
I see the same potential for the specialisation system.
I agree with OP, but because of how large zergs trivialise content.
The map capacity could take into account the difficulty of the bosses and be reduced accordingly.
As it is people can semi afk at bosses and still get loot. Only reason being the size of the zerg can accomodate people not pulling their weight.
It’s become so ubiquitous that we have an entire generation of players who have not fought the Megadestroyer out of the lava pool.

My top 3:
Warmaster Forgal
Commander Shepard
Neil Degrasse Tyson
Voice Packs.
It’s kinda the reason I bought the XXX-tron stuff.
I’ve been playing my alt on and off after the NPE, and it felt like Anet is trying too hard to spread progression over 80 levels.
If the cap is 30 or 40, but I gain a trait point every level, I would be more excited when I level up.
As it stands I find it hard to get excited when I get stat increases or some equipment, especially the latter, which I think is more suited as rewards for completing quests and events.
PvE – Daily Freefall:
Take more than 100,000 fall damage in X (rotates between the various regions).
All the MMOs I’ve played have reward structures based around a few things:
- Currency (gold)
- Participation (Bind on X items, Karma)
- RNG
I think we need a healthy dose of all three to make the MMO resilient to spikes. If everything in GW2 revolves around gold, any inflation would be extremely frustrating.
If everything revolves around participation, players would be grinding the same content repeatedly.
If everything revolves around RNG, players don’t feel rewarded for participation (I got nothing after 5000 tries, but he got it on first try).
One concept used in WoW that I think might be useful for GW2 is the use of Faction/Reputations.
You help a certain faction (like Pact, or Zephyrites etc) and gain standing with them. You then purchase items from their vendors using standard currency (karma and/or coin in GW2 case.
This way you have to play the content in order to get access to the item (instead of farming gold elsewhere and just getting the rewards).
It also reduces the need for too many different types of currencies that have no bearing on each other. Geodes, Bandit Crests, Favour of the Pavillion, Captain’s Council Commendation, Dungeon Tokens…… Just way too many.
Can we stop bringing up wow as a competitive example. The game is at 10 years now and still runs a crappy unengaging combat system where you spend 80% of the time staring at a hotbar. Gw2 doesnt need big revamps because the gameplay is extremely well structured as is. Thank god they dont have major class balance changes every couple of months like wow.
On top of this the content gw brings is a building journey, it doesnt release all the way to the climax like expansions in other games. You have to wait for big fights like the scarlet raid which beat the hell out of wows lame tank and spank raids with some specific boss mechanics to be aware of, which the addon system ruins by trivialising anyway.
Close the thread as its just devolving to a match of who can whine the loudest.
Stop bringing wow up as a competitive example? It has more regular players then GW2 has AND its 10 years old. If that doesn’t set the standard by which to be judged, I don’t know what does. The only thing WoW’s longevity proves is that blizzard knows how to build an MMO and keep it running, where as Anet does not.
In 2011 WoW had over 12 million ACTIVE subscribers, GW2 barely broke 450k in august of 2013 and hasnt even sold half of what WoW has in active subscriptions in overall copies sold.
Many MMOs have tried to copy WoW’s model but failed. GW2 is one of the few MMOs released in recent times that didn’t have to go through any major changes to payment model like LOTRO or DCUO did.
Even Blizzard’s next big MMO Project Titan got canned.
At this stage, WoW is more likely a fluke than a winning model.
Kinda disappointed.
I was having a kick out of hiding the backpiece, and using a golem minipet, then pretending I have a talking golem minipet.
I can’t imagine Cantha being popular with Chinese, Korean or Japanese authorities. WW2 left a sour taste behind.
I imagine if there is a region drawing inspiration from kitten Germans and Jewish people living happily together, or a region inspired by Israel-Palestine under a single government, some feathers would get ruffled.
Of course, gamers wouldn’t care. But the more conservative ones among us would have much to complain about.
TLDR;
We added this system as a direct result from the horizontal progression CDI. We are always reading your feedback, however, we don’t always have time to respond right away or action it quickly. We updated some trait unlocks in the past but we can do more. How can you help?
1) Give us a list of the most offensive trait unlock locations.
2) Keep giving feedback and be patient as this is a big ship and it takes time to steer it.
Instead of picking obscure Champions in areas, why not use the World Bosses instead?
There are far more people doing those.
If the intention is for newbies to learn about the game, then learning about the different World Bosses while leveling up is a good thing, rather than wait till lvl 80 and start grinding for bonus chests.
Do you guys think that there’s a middle ground between ultra hard and easy?
For example, I think we could clean up some of the issues with the Shatterer and just make it a more engaging experience. So rather than spending the entire fight hiding under his right paw he could, say, turn his head and attack that area? :] It doesn’t have to be hard, just a little more involved.
We tried to put in a few changes here and there when we added the new world boss timers. Reactions varied.
I think the key word is “reactions varied”.
I remember the QQ when the bosses were updated and forums were filled with “Anet wants to nerf our farming” posts.
Honestly, I think any tweaking to boss mechanics will be trivialised by sheer numbers.
Similarly, a lot of the bosses in their current state would be challenging if done by a smaller group of 10-20 players.
I once didTaidha with only 20+ players. The main map was probably capped. It was challenging enough without any tweaks. (We failed the event by a sliver).

I don’t get the “cultivated through the generations” text.
It’s still two years after Zhaitan…
It’s kinda like how Miss Universe isn’t really all that… inclusive…
I see you are trying to put those of us that do not wish mounts back on the defensive to distract from the fact that your side doesn’t have compelling arguments for mounts.
We that do not want mounts are not trying to compell Anet to do anything.
We that do not want mounts are content for them to leave the game as it is.
Therefore:
We do not need to provide a single, solitary, compelling argument for non-change.
it would be Like Looking at a dog that is Just sitting there and saying " keep doing nothing!" " see how well trained he is?"
The only argument we need is….
" We are content with Anet’s decision to continue not providing speed boost mounts"
I don’t claim to speak for anyone but myself, and you’d be crazy to think putting “we” gives you anymore weight than speaking for yourself.
Have fun not using any of the features I mention earlier. Cause going by your logic, we shouldn’t have asked for minis, or that monkey king tonic, or the wardrobe system, or ascended gear. All of which appeared magically without Anet putting in any work.
Because as we all know, there was absolutely no objection to Ascended gear, or Tequatl being buffed up, or Triple Wurm being introduced.
Nooooo. Those were added because every single player voted yes.
In fact you have inspired me so much that I’ll pop over to the Mesmer/Guardian/Ele forums and troll them. Because we know they haven’t released any info about balancing their traits yet. Which means they are never going to do so.
Reading your posts… it seems that the game you wish to play already exists. Ir’s simply not THIS game. Maybe it’s World of Warcraft?
Reading your post it seems you were completely content when Magic Find was a stat on armor. So when overwhelming player feedback requesting for Magic Find to be separated was actually implemented, what happened?
Did you rage quit and played Diablo?
(edited by MrIllusion.5304)
The real problem with MrIllusion assumptions, is he does not see that builds, in GW2, are as much about compromise as it is what you are trying to accomplish. Adding in mounts would negate many of the current builds used in WvW and PvE. Skills such as the Necro’s Signet of the Locust, would be useless. There would be many traits negated by this also.
This is why adding in mounts is such a huge deal and chore – it really does affect the balance in GW2 and might totally unbalance the game. Games that balance both PvE and PvP have a knife-edge balance that if pushed one way or the other causes dire consequences. A.Net had this problem with GW1, then they added in both the Ritualist and Assassin professions. They never could get back the balance they had at the beginning of the game and they did admit that.
Rauderi, there are superior Signets of the Traveler – so yes there are signets that help with boosts. Putting in mounts would negate all of that also
You are wrong about me assuming.
The concept of adding Traveler Runes and Speed Signets and Banners isn’t something ground-breaking. We already know it exists.
The speed boosts they provide do not add to build diversity. We do not have a meta where we deck out in swiftness and speed boosts so that we can kite specific mobs, while crippling them (maybe it exists in PvP?). The current PvE meta does not have any of that.
The idea that removing all those speed boosts from skills/traits is going to kill build diversity is a moot point. Those skills/traits serve only one function in PvE. To get from point A to point B faster. If this is an issue in certain types of gameplay then normalise for that. It’s not uncommon to prevent mounting up in some MMOs in PvP or whatever content where higher speed is an unfair advantage.
Increasing speed across the board makes it so that Signet of Locusts and Warrior Banner Skill #3 and Guardian Staff #3 can be freed up in lieu of something that synergises with your build.
In other words, if speed were normalised, those speed enhancing skills/traits/food/whatever can be revamped and changed to something more meaningful than a QoL feature. This adds to build diversity.
(edited by MrIllusion.5304)
I see the irony escapes you.
We do not need arguments against speed boost mounts, we just need to say :
“we are content with the game as it is, we are content with Anet’s continued decision to not provide speed boost mounts.”
What a dinosaur. When GW2 launched Anet was all about innovation and breaking the mold. I listed all the features they didn’t have at launch but were added in anyway after receiving player feedback.
So no, change is a fact of life. We can choose to steer that change or get left behind.
Unless you are so satisfied with the game “as is” that you do not use:
- the wardrobe system
- ascended gear
- the bank tab from craftman’s station
- all the skills/traits that were rebalanced
- all the items that had reworked icons
- ascended items changed to account bound
I guess if precursors ever became craftable, you’d have screwed yourself out of it too, so don’t let us catch you using that new feature.
In fact, stop playing the new LS episodes too, since that was a commitment they made after launch.
So let’s see what “compelling arguments” you have for not introducing this change:
Now you do have two options:
- Try to change the game to the game you would find enjoyable…. except then it becomes Unenjoyable for me, so I will advocate strenuously to oppose those changes.
- leave and play another game.
If you do not wish to, then you do not wish to play THIS game, and you seek to turn THIS game into another game. maybe you should simply play another game? One with speed boost mounts?
From what you have said, it appears this game is Not for you. maybe you should play another game, maybe one with mounts? I can recommend World of Warcraft highly. That game has plenty of mounts, and they come in different colors.
PS: How exactly would one show they oppose mounts with their wallet? I am very curious.
Use their Money to NOT Buy a Mount? I am doing that now.
…
4) Screen Clutter, Griefing, LagYou’re kidding right? Does the speed boost in the city make us any more griefers? Any more laggy? We already have swiftness boon in the game. Has anyone blamed lag on that?
…Then you would be alright with invisible mounts? Or maybe the mount would disappear outside of towns, forts, camps, or any map with more than a certain number of players. You see it’s not the speed boost that’s the problem, it’s the screen clutter and graphics burden.
Why is this even an issue?
We already have tonics and minis and costumes and costume brawls.
Also, the SHOW LOWEST CHARACTER MODEL LIMIT setting.
Maybe this is not the game for you. Blah blah blah
Maybe I’m wasting my time with you, since your arguments can be summarized into the following:
1) Go play a different game. (Not going to bother)
2) The “technology of Tyria makes it unnecessary to ride creatures”.
Utter bullkitten. The Charr have tons of mount-like vehicle that would qualify as a mount. You could even use Juju wurms and Siege Devourers in GW1.
The Norn personal story already sends you on a quest to locate a missing Charr VEHICLE.
In GW2 Hobotron got stuck because i couldn’t afford the waypoint fare. In old Lion’s Arch, there is an NPC that explains how “going though a portal is instantaneous” to another NPC. Obviously it is not a ubiquitous technology that everyone uses.
3) Clipping
Even existing armor clips. Shall we tell Charr players to “go play another game” where armor doesn’t clip?
4) Screen Clutter, Griefing, Lag
You’re kidding right? Does the speed boost in the city make us any more griefers? Any more laggy? We already have swiftness boon in the game. Has anyone blamed lag on that?
As for main reason FOR mounts, I mentioned it in my FIRST post here. A quality of life feature shouldn’t be locked into builds and skill bars and runes. Our skill bars are compact as it is
If balance is an issue, NORMALISE it so it doesn’t provide unfair advantage in gameplay.
(edited by MrIllusion.5304)
I’m commenting exactly the format that I would like mounts to take – speed boosts. Which traditionally takes the form of mounts.
I think that’s exactly why you won’t see them introduced in the game. Everyone already has access to that.
This is why exactly I am advocating that they be introduced. Most professions already have it (not all).
Why not separate a quality of life feature from the core combat mechanics, and avoid the unfairness of some professions not having access to it?
Oh I read it. it just seems you want the developers to totally redesign their game for completely selfish reasons. You say " this is stupid, that is stupid, this is stupid, that is stupid.’ over and over.
If so Much of the game is stupid, there are two options. Play the game even if it is stupid, and enjoy it with it’s stupidity or… play a game that is better suited for you.
I read your “Darwin prize” comment, and chose to ignore it.
Read it again.
I’m saying the “go play another game” is a poor argument for anything.
Many features were not in the game at launch.
“You want a PvE wardrobe? Go play PvP noob!”
“You want tough 80-man bosses. Go play FFXI!”
“You want trait unlocks? Go play GW1!”
“You want better-than-exotic gear threadmill? Go play WoW!”
These were added in later. Evolution. Darwinism.
They were added in later because Anet figured they can reach some balance between what players want/don’t want, preserving their core philosophy, and maintaining business objectives.
I’m not asking for instanced raids because Anet has a strong design philosophy against exclusive content. I’m not asking for better-than-ascended gear because Anet has a strong stance against gear threadmills.
Speed-boosts via mounts, to my knowledge, does not contradict any core design philosophy as communicated to their customers.
How do I know this? It’s already in the game.
I’m asking for fluffy creatures that give us speed boost. There are already NPCs in the game that give us 5 min swiftness boons.
Even if mounts don’t give speed boosts, what’s the difference between selling a miniature bipedal bird, and a gigantic bipedal bird that you can ride on?
All that talk about class balance and normalising armor is just false equivalence and strawman’s argument.
From what you have said, it appears this game is Not for you. maybe you should play another game, maybe one with mounts? I can reccomend World of warcraft highly. That game has plenty of mounts.
Because GW2 shouldn’t have mounts and players should go play other games that have it? This takes the Darwin prize. GW2 doesn’t have other pvp modes or duels or GvG or raids or “challenging content” or precursor crafting. Should this stop people from asking for them?
Entirely predictable. I recommend not quoting me if you can’t be bothered to read.
Assuming that mounts would prevent any of that is EXTREMELY presumptuous. Players love to imagine how they would like something to work. It rarely ends up how they envision it. Even if mounts DO make it in game, I don’t believe they would compromise the class concepts and gear that is available to overcome those deficiencies.
In short, you just described great reasons for not introducing mounts …
Excellent point. If Anet implemented mounts without the speed boosts, I’d still be miffed. But then they’d be like minis that you can ride on. In which case what the hell are people arguing about here?
I’m commenting exactly the format that I would like mounts to take – speed boosts. Which traditionally takes the form of mounts.
It could come in the form of minis or feathery wings I don’t care. I want movement speed out of combat to not be tied to a specific build, but normalised across the board. Every one should be able to move at the same speed out of combat. OOC speed is a Quality of Life issue, not a tactical issue.
(edited by MrIllusion.5304)
I want mounts. Why?
Because compromising my build to include perma 25% run speed is stupid.
Because paying through the nose for Traveler’s Runes, which provide little benefit other than perma 25% run speed, is stupid.
Because sacrificing a slot on my skill bar for perma 25% run speed is stupid.
This isn’t about having more maneuverability. People are doing this to move around faster.
Comments about not putting mounts in, what are they?
Takes up resources? Dumb. All content takes resources. Designing minis and tonics take resources. Is there a large scale protest against new minis?
Unnecessary because of waypoints? Dumb. People are already using builds with 25% perma boost. If speed boosts are unnecessary then replace signet of air and traveler’s runes and signet of locust speed boost with something else.
Because GW2 shouldn’t have mounts and players should go play other games that have it? This takes the Darwin prize. GW2 doesn’t have other pvp modes or duels or GvG or raids or “challenging content” or precursor crafting. Should this stop people from asking for them?
I like mounts and I’m prepared to support my argument with my wallet. More than RNG tickets or town clothes or more boosters or MORE BACKPIECES.
If you’re opposed to mounts let your wallet speak.
(edited by MrIllusion.5304)
Not neccessary in my opinion. The map cap is 150 and you need three commanders for Wurm anyways. Therefore a squadsize of 50 is perfectly appropriate. 1-2 Diboof, 3-5 Condi per head, 35 DPS on Crimson and Cobalt, 40 for Amber are the minimum numbers you are looking for, which never exceeds 50 on any squad as you can see.
The whole point of the suggestion was for one commander to port the whole zerg into an instance, rather than have each member individually try their luck with joining instance.
Once the zerg is inside they can split accordingly.
If the limit stays at 50 we’d still have the problem of getting three commanders zone three smaller zergs into the same instance.
I previously posted my suggestion on Reddit. Might as well repost here.
Assuming that Anet is philosophically opposed to giving guilds direct ownership of an instance:
1) expand the squad size for commanders to 100 or 120 or whatever magical number.
2) give commanders the ability zone into an area wih everyone in his squad.
3) if the commander’s squad is under the cap of an existing map, then zone into that map.
4) if the commanders squad cannot be squeezed into an existing map, then create a new one.
I was informed that squads have a limitation where you have to be in the same map. So this has to be addressed first.

WoW has 1280 of players on Xfire. It has a population of 7.6 million players as of Mar 2014. Therefore ratio of WoW players who use Xfire to total WoW population:
1280/7,600,000 * 100 = 0.0168
GW2 has 571 of players on Xfire. If the same ratio of players on GW2 also use Xfire:
571/P * 100 = 0.0168
Therefore, P = 3,398,809

Feel free to give examples of your own.

But then when Blizzard does it, people think it’s ambrosia.
GW2 needs improvement. But let’s not pretend other games have dealt with it better.
The whole Dry Top zone could have been gated behind a gear check. They could even lower the map hard cap so zergs become smaller and content can’t be cheesed through with sheer numbers.
But doing this will make GW2 similar to every other mmo.
WoW adds new instances that are gated behind other instances so players have to grind through one repeatedly, get the drops they need, and then proceed to the next one.
They could have made Tequatl occupy an instance, and have him drop better than exotic gear on a loot table. Then have players run that ad nauseam before they can get a decent shot at Triple Wurm.
Then put Wurm in another instance with better than Tequatl drops on another loot table, and have players grind that ad nauseam for the next boss.
It’s obvious they avoided that on purpose.
If GW2 wants to hold true to its philosophy of horizontal progression, how about adding generic utility skills that can be unlocked.
They don’t even need one for every class. Just have new skills in broad categories that can be used by different classes. Shouts, heals, signets can be equipped by many profs.
Once they get players to focus more on skill/trait synergy, the focus on better gear as a form of progression becomes secondary.
Come on, we know what’s going to happen next episode:
Belinda: <Name>, tell sis I said ‘hi’.
Belinda: Here take this. You’ll get more use out of it than me now.
You receive 1 Belinda’s Nodachi.
Currently there are a few things which provide similar functionality.
PvP Panel-> Heart of the Mists
WvW Panel -> Eternal Battlegrounds/Bordelands/Edge of the Mists
Hall of Monuments Portal Stone -> Hall of Monuments
Home Portal Stone -> Home Instance
I’d like to suggest an alternative format which can tie in all these features into a common interface.
Have an item given to players for free that opens a dropdown list to select the destination. By default only the Heart of the Mists, Eternal Battlegrounds etc is unlocked.
Players who have unlocked Hall of Monuments get to select that as an additional destination.
Players who have purchased the Home Portal Stone can select Home Instance as a destination.
Maybe consider putting in Royal Terrace as a location for players who have purchased the permanent pass.
This way we can avoid inventory clutter by using a common interface, and there is also future-proofing if new destinations are to be added.
Ok, after a little bit of exploring, these were all the affected WP’s I was able to find. Has anyone found some elsewhere? I plan to do another sweep when I get home tonight.
Also, it’ll be interesting to see if the WP’s being affected will have any correlation to the Thumpers from LS1. There were a lot of intriguing theories (and hilarious pictures) going around about them several months ago.
I always thought Elder Dragons steered clear of each others territory.
The spread of the vines seem to violate that.
It would be an interesting twist if the Branded and Icebrood started fighting Mordremoth’s corruption.
There also was an item with a blue text saying “Caithe, some day you’ll see. Tyria needs me”. What if scarlet’s goal was not awakening the dragon, but maybe bringing back the six gods for whatever reason… ?
What if she doesn’t want to bring back the 6 gods, but rather become one herself?
I mean, what would be the point of unleashing the dragons if she can’t survive the ordeal?
I’d say the content was well worth the zero dollars I paid for it.
If you disagree, feel free to show me how productive you are at the office. I’m sure your employer will be keen to know how much work you can accomplish in 2 weeks.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/E
Wiki says E may not even be male after all. When did Kasmeer say this?
For all we know, E could be a group of individuals like Anonymous.
I like the way it ended. There was enough fighting from the previous stages, and then more with the DEs.
Some bits I like about the Room scene:
- The diagram on the wall
- The steam minotaur on the shelf
- The hologram talking about the steam creatures
- The hologram showing the Ceara → Scarlet transition
These are topics that can (and did) generate a bit of discussion and create more hype for the next patch.
I would have liked it a bit more if you could have some sort of recap/summary of all the clues gathered. Maybe have Marjory give a list of “things we learnt so far” just to put everything in perspective.
But more combat would be jarring considering the purpose of this scene.
