Your guys thoughts?

LOL

signed I wonder if those who complain have any idea of using a class other than in melee combat one vs one. Allready had a noob that complained about deadeye is to weak……. some people really do not understand why warrior and deadeye are completely op.

Yes sir. Spellbreaker Warrior is the anti condi in a world FULL of condi.
I was 1v1’ing a condi necro today. I had full health almost the whole time.

The op is right Spellbreaker is awesome (in pvp). Firebrand is garbage (in pvp) (or at least the 4-5 build I tried were)
It counters all kinds of stuff, and had good survivablity.
I’m not playing d/d though, I’m using dagger/shield and greatsword (no specific reason for greatsword)
and to the poster that wasnt impressed with wining 4 hot joins? Do you really think all the good players are not in hot join looking to take advantage of players just wanting to “test builds”? If your answer is no, then you don’t know the pvp community very well.

Idea to end manipulation/q syncing/rage throw

in PvP

Posted by: NeedCoffee.1402

NeedCoffee.1402

To be honest, I will throw a match when teamchat has become very toxic. I’ll just afk in the base. That’s my personal protest against harassment because anet doesn’t seem to be taking a stance against it.

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard all day. No one cares about your protest/message.
Your not a victim, nor are you any more special than any other player.

I didn’t say I was special. I actually wish it would become more common. I wish everyone who were being harassed in a match would just go idle. Maybe the toxic culture would change. people would think twice about harassing other players cause it would certainly guarantee a loss being down a player. And if i saw someone sitting out a game cause they were being harassed, i wouldn’t knock them for it. I don’t think anyone should have to finish a match with people that are being nasty toward them.

I’m not sure you understand your enemy. manipulators, cheaters, whatever you want to call them takes pleasure in your misery. Not playing both makes your opponents win and frustrates your team mates (causing more enjoyment for your enemy). Its like a win, win, win for manipulators.

Because players have gotten smacked with the ban hammer for using it.

It wasn’t an overlay, it actually gives an advantage to a player that can use it well and is therefore considered cheating and against the ToS.

how is does it give an advantage?

NTDK is correct. this is what you want. Toggle action cam. Its just not released yet.

It should be available on HotT release October 23.

a long time ago there was a mod that did this but it was very buggy. It no longer works with the current game.

The OP wants to re-bind his mouse buttons, example: scroll wheel up is swap weapons, scroll wheel down is F1, right mouse button is dodge, etc.

The mod you’re likely referring to is Combat Mode which does indeed still work. I use it all the time.

the OP doesn’t care about weapon swap rebinds. Im sure he knows how to do that. What he cant do is unbind R & L mouse buttons to skill 1 and dodge.

If combat mod still works then why doesn’t anyone tell the OP that it does exactly what he wants it to do?

NeedCoffee.1402

I have an alternate question for people opposed to limited-time items: should ArenaNet say “this item is available during the course of this event only” and then bring it back later?

I think my main concern is that we were told items had limited availability, so I moved around my schedule and made time to get items that I wanted… now they’re back and very easy to get.

I’m glad for players who might have missed out, but if I had known they’d be released again later, I certainly would have done other things with my life/game balance.

I guess you could nitpick at the wording and say that the items were always listed as “limited availability” and not “one-time only.”

To answer you question, yes they should.
In your scenario your not realizing because of your sacrifice of time to acquire the items you wanted you got to enjoy them before others.

Working hard and being rewarded is good as long that player doesn’t think he/she now has the right to bully others with his/her new found item.
But that’s not what this thread is about.
The op expects anet to never rerelease items so the players that have said item can be part of some silly minority.

Gw2 has never had any kind of elitist player mentality.

Are we playing the same game at all ?

Can I play it to ? :P

On topic,

gw2 is all about cosmetics, there is no perpetual vertical progression aka the hunt for better stats.

as such those LS skins were valuable as prestige items for this very reason, now that is all gone ! thank you very much a.net.

I also feel cheated because the one item I don’t have is nowhere to be found, the mad king memories yet all my other LS skins are now easily acquirable !!! not cool !!!

I assure you were all playing the same game. It may seem different to you because your turning it into something else.

Anet is the only company to realize you need to separate pvp and pvp in an mmo in order to have equal level and stats in pvp. Heck they even got rid of the small amount of elitism via outfits in pvp. Does that sound like a company that supports your star bellied sneetch mentality?

Not(always?) true.
I had my performance profile set to 100/100% min/max and you could tell the difference in responsiveness, loading times and FPS between 100% constant and software managed speed. But after downloading and running this the difference again is night and day.

I’ve used that one before. It does the job just fine. I’m not sure about running 100% unparked 100% of the time. core parking is a power saving feature. if your not gaming (or some other processor intense operation) you shouldn’t need to be 100% unparked.
But to each there own

the reason I prefer gamebooster is because it does a bunch of different fun things.

Unparking your CPU cores doesn’t need editing of the registry library. Just set your computer to High Performance power profile. You can also easily tweak the other settings in advanced settings in Processor Power Management. “Minimum Processor State” to 100%. Problem solved. Be sure Maximum is 100%. But basically, because of that, I’ve never had any ‘parked core’ issues.

this is true. you don’t need extra software to unpack cores. But… some users aren’t comfortable editing power settings, and I have seen version of Windows where some settings in power settings in control panel were locked. Plus just choosing a high power setting won’t un park cores. lastly both programs listed offer a lot more than a few tweeks you could do yourself.

OP: download a free program called gamebooster.
http://www.razerzone.com/gamebooster

install it.

Then download a free program called process lasso.
http://bitsum.com/processlasso/

install it. Then run gw2. minimize gw2 and open process lasso. find gw2 in the process lasso window. right click on it and assign it both default high priority, and the gamers power setting gamebooster gave you.

How to achieve 60 fps min In WvW Zergs

in Account & Technical Support

NeedCoffee.1402

Hey look. Another topic Turning into a Mantle discussion. Why not everyone just go make a thread titled “MANTLE”

Seriously. Mantle is not going to happen anytime soon for Guild Wars 2, if at all. Even if it did, it’ll probably be ‘optimized’ by then to run 30 fps everywhere on even Toaster specs. WVW might even have 60 FPS on a high clocked intel i3 by then.

Mantle wont happen at all, just look at CUDA. It came out 7 years ago and we have yet to see a game engine programed entirely in CUDA.

Well the thing is that I have 2x Gtx 680 so they cant both use 16x slots, They automatically lower to 8x when you hook up in sli.

Is this causing fps issues? Shouldnt it still technically increase fps? I know it increases fps on 3d Mark 11 substantially

opps i didn’t realize you already had x2 680’s. you should be fine for video ram.
To answer your question yes, and no. Yes you should see a slight increase in fps. but It wont be much over 1%. x2 cards in sli out renders our CPU and creates a bottle neck.
we would need cpu’s clocked to something insane like 8ghz to keep up with the crazy GPU possibilities of today.

Lol whats Mantle?

And would that processor really achieve the proper fps I need? Heard their was nothing on the market to get the fps going.

mantle is a new AMD/Raidon only ver. of direct x…..kinda……

Based on quick googling I had hard time finding any results with 680 1 GB lol, I think he’s good to go.
Sure it increases at some points. My 660 gets capped at 120-150 fps in the open world at 99% usage. If we’re talking about fps in LA for example I’d put my money on that the increase is 1 fps with 2 cards over 1, especially on this current 1 monitor build.

I worded it that way in case he didn’t want /couldn’t afford a 680.

yeah, thats about what i was thinking, maybe +3-5 fps if both slots are x16. Not worth $300 plus, but i may try it at some point out of boredom. Right now the upgrade i want is the G-sync module for my monitor.

Right on what Behellagh said. It’s currently impossible. How you can get better rate on the other hand is buying a CPU with better single core performance, those would be 3570K, 3770K, 4670K and 4770K perhaps some i7-E processors too. That’d require a new motherboard too tho and those typically wont bring even 30 fps in the biggest zerg clash. As for running 3 monitors your performance shouldn’t decrease since that’s dependent on GPU power. Someone recently said 680 SLI is surely adequate for 1200p tri-monitor.

dual and triple monitor setups eat up your video ram. If you want to run multiple monitor make sure whatever cards you go with have 2GB each on sli . There also seems to be a trend in other games these days to use more video ram lately so more video ram is good future proofing.
If GW2 is the only game you play it probably doesn’t matter as much.

Personally, I have to believe 2 decent cards on sli both running x16 pcie-3.0 has to increase fps, but I also feel like the gain would be so small it wouldn’t be worth the cost of an extra card.

Get fixs for win 7(bulldozer)

This is an interesting post. I wasn’t aware there was an issue with win7 not being optimized for AMD’s FX-8150. And apparently there is a fix for it?

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/windows-7-hotfix-bulldozer-performance,3119.html

anyone with a FX-8150 use this and saw results? If so how much?

your motherboard supports PCI-E 3.0, force it, and you should see a little boost in fps.

Is that an 840 EVO Samsung? They will use you system RAM as cache to bench reads that high.

it’s not the evo. it’s the older pro. I purchased it 2ish years ago.

Whether or not you have gains from the cache is irrelevant, I want to know what your SSD’s raw benches are using your testing tool.

yeah, no I get that too. what I don’t understand is why?

I mean what’s the point?

performance gain is performance gain. there is no point in benching naked.
those numbers aren’t any kind of placebo, they are real.
instead of learning all those iometer bools, and variables I’ll let the developer show you.

You dont understand the Tech. RamDISKs are Cache. Used mainly for Reads. Benching with Cache Enabled skews the numbers and shows NO REAL performance of what you are benching

If the bench only uses the Cache you are not even touching your HDD/SSD in the test, as it never leaves the RAM.

And the Topic here is GW2 on kitten, not GW2 On a RAM DISK.

*Edit, lol they Kittened SSD.

no, I understand. I’ve been using similar programs for years. what I’m saying is it doesn’t matter if I’m getting those speeds in cache or not. as long as I’m getting those speeds.

I think I tried caching to HDDs a long time ago and I didn’t get the same gains I got caching SSDs.

just because it doesn’t make sense to you doesn’t mean its not possible.

theses are my actual benches, i can do the same on my cheap mushkin SSD’s.

I have mentioned on this forum 20 times how to do it, but no one listens to me.

Oooooh, I didn’t realize you were caching it… That makes any bench test pointless with that enabled. That makes sense now though, so your 500MB/s cached is closer to 9GB/s, but only in cache. Seriously, I saw that pic and was so confused lol. I thought you came from the future with new product wanting to be heralded as the next Bill Gates

Not to worry, you will forever be my Mr. Future Man!

lol, thanks :-)

I’m starting to think we come from 2 different world’s. benching just for pure stats alone like it has some kind of meaning or is some kind of sport is silly to me. I just want the fastest computer I can afford and its fun tweak stuff to make it faster.
