Mesmer never took skill to begin with

in PvP

Posted by: Noha.3749

Noha.3749

Mesmers were fine, greatly awarded for skillful play.
However they were locked to a single viable burst build, which is now made almost baseline.
So after the patch they got more damage (so did everyone) and can grab PU for the longest stealth uptime in the game whilst not being as affected by the defensive trait stats some other professions relied upon.

How to make them less forgiving and awarding for good plays:
1. Set their health on par with elem, guard and thieves.
2. Reduce the increased stealth uptime gained from PU, half would do.

*Note bout point #2;
No body asked for that insane stealth uptime, not even the mesmers and some of them already admits that they nerfed the wrong stuff after patch, namely condi stacks.

Fix PU, set their HP on par with thieves/ele/guard = Mesmers are fine!

Thieves:
- I actually like the changes to thieves. More damage, quite a bit less surviveability. That is FAIR. With that amount of damage you SHOULD die if someone sees through your assassination atempt. - Actually thats about it when it comes to thieves. Its a good boost to damage, especielly since everyone else also got a damage boost. The lack of surviveability through passive defense (vitality & thoughness from traits) is fair.

Necromancer:
-Powermancer is the same as always except they can now gain some support or extra surviveability due to Spite and Soul Reaping making up all their dmg they need. So they can use the last line however they want pretty much. - Condimancer is IMO worse versus powerbuilds than pre-patch. They do however thrive at transferring all the sweet burning stacks back to enemy condiplayers. I think its somewhat fair-fair to have them being the king of the hill when it comes to condi vs condi fights. But thats about it. Transfering condis is not as fun as putting out alot of condis yourself. Not fun to rely on returning a bunch of condis to be able to deal dmg. - Consume condition wasnt as bad as i thought it would be after patch. Still painful on paper and vs enemies that time their spike dmg. Plague is still plague cept you wont camp it out to endure outnumbered fights for too long.

Warrior: TBA
Guardian: TBA
Ranger: TBA
(I cant back up my opinions/arguments on War, Guard & Ranger due to lack of experience playing the professions enough.)

Ingame Community:
- Ingame community is mostly great. Im impressed by the amount of times strangers help other players ingame. Most respect others in almost all aspects of the game. WvW is great. There are no rules but alot of players play by moral codes, and if you dont.. well thats still fine because you know what? You dont have to adapt to others in WvW. Ofcourse ruining the fun or strategies of your friendly blob is epic lame. But a single player can only do so much. (There are those players that empty supply camps for example, that is.. well. An exception.). PvP is friendly enough, and obviously you will run into some vocal minority crying at anything they find not being in their odds. PvE wise i must say personally that i havent had any trouble with the elitists nor the casuals. But i notice how fellow casuals not being as "lucky" as others in finding elitist that lets you join in.

Community forum:
-This is where most negativity arise. Mostly from the same players that always find something that doesnt fit them like a glove and have to cry about it. MOST negative threads are written by the same 5-6 players, and suprisingly they got sooo much to cry about, and changing opinion from one week to another is way too common. Lets just say that i know how i wont raise my son (no offense to any parents out there). - I must agree that the awfully repeating playerbase that constantly have something struck up between their cheeks is a small minority thinking they speak for everyone. Most players are decent beings with decent standards and arguments.

What grinds my gears:
- Ive got a relatively slow learning curve, but once it sticks it never leaves, which leads to a slow adaption to changes. - Bought Ultimate Edition HoT during specialization hype train. - Specialization reveals stopped, slowly killing off my hype, which makes the pre-expansion game incredibly dull with nothing interesting to achieve until we know more.

Thats it!
Not the most interesting read for most, feel free to comment on what you disagree/agree on etc. but most importantly, have a great day!

Profession:
Elementalist:
- Elementalists can be played pretty much however you want atm. From the easy-to-play D/D(or D/F) celestial build which is like playing _"Linking Park-Doesn´t even matter"_ on repeat on a piano. To carefully headbashing your face on your abilities in a S/F build whilst making sure you are in the right attunement while doing it. The only hard build IMO is Staff builds in WvW. Mind you im not going to claim anything is harder than the other, given some time and experience with the profession. - At the moment i must say im a bit bothered with the Ele Celestial damage (power and expecially burning) along with the sustain they got. The patch took some of their bulk and turned it into quite a bit too much damage for the build. Im still ok with it, but its weird to adapt to when fighting an elementalist compared to pre-patch.

Engineer:
- I love engineers. Always have. A bit harder to play than elementalists, most due to being a bit more "clunky" with their kit swaps compared to attunement swapping. They are decent and have always been except for some bugs here and there. They have hardcounters for every build, and they hardcounter some other professions. Fits into this games stone-paper-scissor balance. - Yeah i know, granade barrage (granades overall) is probably bugged atm. Granades doing damage for piercing AND exploding is most likely not intended. No need to go hardcore at it this close after the major patch. People who use it are cheese, but hey. So would most of you if you had an engineer. Meanwhile, people throwing reports on people for using a certain trait are a bunch of whiny kids that will always find something to cry at. *Will cover player behaviour more in the Community tab*

Mesmer:
- Before the patch i was usually impressed if i got outplayed by a mesmer, after the patch they recieved some much needed love and build versitality, which they got. They are however problematic after the patch. Certain things NEED to get toned down: - Mesmers damage is fair. They run with zerker gear and build for 100% damage. They should do tons of damage. *Problem is that god kitten PU* (Prismatic Understanding). Anet instanerfed the wrong traits after the patch. PU stealth duration is the problem. No body asked for it. They now outstealth thieves chaining Cloak & Dagger on targets pretty much, minus the risk of being in melee with 11k hp. Bringing the damage they rightfully deserve but having so little risk to it is the problem. Its GREAT that they now have abilities to keep them safer from Thieves etc. Aka. Blind on shatter for example. But stealth uptime for about ~50 seconds is plain and simple cheese.

Noha.3749

Hello there fellas.

Ill summarize my personal thoughts and experience about the game and the community.
Im warning you, reading everything will make you tear your eyes out. Focus on the cathegory you are interested in!

First off ~

Living World:
- I really loved exploring the game early on. The events were exciting, exploring was exciting. Got alot of friends when trying to reach some odd vistas etc. the first months into the game. A great experience overall! - Endgame however will *always* remain endgame. You farm bosses you have done several times before for loot and titles. Nothing to complain about really except they are a bit too easy and forgiving after the patch.

Dungeons & Fractals:
- My experience have been mixed. Its a bit too easy after 3 or so runs on the same path, you learn very quick. Elitist spend more time forcing people into playing certain builds and more time kicking people below their AP and barking at them for their mistakes, which ends up in the total time spent is about the same as accepting a "lower" player into their ranks and just letting them learn on the run.

PvP:
-First off, im *no hardcore* PvP player, got about 800 games or so. Profession balance and amulets is the more specified question regarding how it plays. My opinion before the patch was actually positive except a bit stiff meta. It was more forgiving due to Zerker Amulets vitality along with traitstats. After the patch.. I must say im still positive! Active defense and quick reactiontime is a must. Now you actually have to respect eachothers damage potential instead of yolo-jumping into combat. Some bugs here and there but none is worse than the other, and obviously Anet will need to tone and fix some stuff. *I will go into more detail in my Profession summary*

WvW:
- My precious WvW, countless hours spent in this wonderful gamemode. I *LOVE* WvW. Its a big battlefield with "no" rules nor demands. People will always complain about how you spend your time in WvW, about the enemies being cheese or how unfair the matchups are. Guess what? I dont care if i spend most hours outnumbered. That means more tryhard for me when roaming, and more intense blobwars. The evil laughter you barely can stay away from when you continously gank enemy elementalists running towards their blob, the times you barely managed to survive when coming across an interrupting enemy blob. List goes on. For me its still like in PvP; Used to be more forgiving, not anymore. Which is fine by me.

My take on D/P WvW thief.

in Thief

Posted by: Noha.3749

Noha.3749

@Watson.6492
Well, my experience is that D/P is the most forgiving our of the power builds.
In WvW most engages are vs Zerg traited/geared players which is almost never a struggle as something specialized in small scale battles/roam.
Against anything except great players with the right build D/P is easy to do well with..
Daggers do brutal damage, blinds are very accessible and an almost instant daze for the heal and scary abilities.

Alot of fights (mostly picks when roaming) are over by simply running up and shadow shooting dem butts off, followed by a timed Headshot and fight is over.
Not dead? Powder Leap + steal backstab or whatever you see fit.
D/P is just very straight forward.

I Love D/P, dont get me wrong. But it is very simple mechanically and abilitywise.
Shadow Arts on top of that IMO makes it oversimplified, especially along with Vamp runes.

Vamp runes are great in sPvP as you mentioned. In WvW → quoting myself: Is Lowbob.
Unless maybe you´re going for a rigged dueling build.

My thief is my main, but im not hardcore L33T. D/P works so well you barely need SB except a few exceptions. 5 Abilities are not hard to master, especially since all of them work awsome in almsot all scenarios.

So what really grinds my gears? 5 abilities replacing the need for a sec weapon is too easy to play with i guess. This is vs everything except “Great” players with a few exceptions. Adding the defense of SA and Vamp rune makes it even less challenging to play.
This is just MY opinion though.

Its still very intense to play thief, i love it. Just bothered with how dull some builds are able to get..

My take on D/P WvW thief.

in Thief

Posted by: Noha.3749

Noha.3749

Nothing new really, deadly arts vs critical strikes is just a question about prefference.
Same with Pack vs Vampirism..
My only question is why you would prefer dagger training over improvisation?

Im usually skipping Shadow Arts completely going 6.6.×.×.x with pack runes.
I want every bit of damage i can get and leave survivability to decisionmaking and reflexes/musclemind. Precision is to me just as important to a thief as power(therfor i go 6.6. + pack, lacking in one of the areas will nerf your damage.. And its already easy to run from fights with stealth and SB, dont need mistform or extra stealth/healing if you are good enough.

To me its like an even easier variation of D/P which is already easy, dropping some damage in exchange for even more surviveability (which is not needed).
We are already the kings of running with our tail between our legs and resetting if needed..

Im not saying this to be salty or harsh, i just find the rune along with shadow arts like..
An easier variation of the easiest weapon set we already got with some unnecissary nerf to dmg..

But whatever floats your boat right! Thief is fun, it is for me the most intense profession in GW2, the most forgiving if you decide to bail, but the least forgiving if your intentions are to go Man-Mode-kitten-Ham.

TL;DR
D/P is already easymode, especially with Shadow Arts. Shadow Arts is Lowbob.
Pack brings more dmg than Vampirism, Vampirism brings extra Lowbob.
Also Improvisation > Dagger Training.
—→ D/P + Shadow Arts + Vampirism = Easy + Lowbob/Cheese + Lowbob/Cheese <—-

I DONT mean to sound salty or rude, but with the TL;DR it was hard to put it in a pleasant manner with my lack of time :S But play whatever you like, i dont judge you

I think bad people usually flame/blame.
But i also think bad people are the ones that get offended by it…

If you played perfect a game but still lost, you should feel proud over your improving skill and know you will win more than you lose if you continue play on a higher level.

If you did well stat-wise, know stats is nothing.
Know if you keep 2+ players occupied you do well and the fault is not yours if you lose.
etc. etc.

Know you will play worse if you get mad/offended due to focus being elsewere.

Lost games don’t get you rewards! Oh wait….

Won AND lost games both grants you experience, from experience you improve
(At least the ones that critizice themselves instead of everyone else)

My opinion:

  • Thief – Is the most fun ive had, although few abilities you actually use, its way more intense than others. Keeping me on my toes most out of all the professions.

*Engineer – They are really fun for their tricks, but they are kitten clunky and tiresome in the long run.

*Elementalist – Its ONLY about playing the piano while moving. Once you can play the piano, there is no more a challenge outside of 1vX.

*Mesmer – Are incredibly fun, but their OOC mobility is terrible unless you use traveler runes/cantaur runes. Incredibly fun vs “avrage” players 1vX, but a single good player managing to stick on to you, dodge the right shatter will result in death.

*Necromancer – Only fun for big numbers and a their dark theme. Not including dungeons.

*Everything else – Feels too straight forward/easy to play. Dont have to keep on my toes, simple abilities. Just too straight forward.

Bugging into Stonemist from outer

in WvW

Posted by: Noha.3749

Noha.3749

People with “blink/teleports” have always been able to get into Stonemist castle by exploiting some kind of walljump+blink at certain locations…

Followed some mesmers way back that ported into SM, past BOTH gates by exploiting some bugg. I see it being exploited still, but now i also see a few being able to get into some of the Keeps located in EB.

Ive tossed out a few reports from time to time, but most of the time i dont even bother. I mark the exploiter and kill them as many times possible during my active WvW time, trying to teach them a lesson about what i think about it.

whats ROLE do Rangers lack?

in Ranger

Posted by: Noha.3749

Noha.3749

Im not a ranger player, but from my point of view:
Ranger damage is ok both as power and certainly as condition.
Power however is lacking in dungeons because of stack meat doesnt allow you to
sit at max range for most damage.. that and lack of cleave.

http://dulfy.net/2014/07/05/gw2-ranger-pve-class-guide-by-lorek-and-cell/

You’re doing it wrong, and I’m too lazy so I will let someone else do the explaining on how you actually should play it. DO NOT sit at range and pew pew with your longbow and then precede to claim that the damage is lacking. That’s just as frutiful as telling the warriors that their rifles do low damage in dungeons.

Christ, then im really surprised about the amount of LB rangers i see in dungeons then. I knew the Sword animation is troublesome for messing with dodges, so i thought that was the reason for going with a lower dmg weapon, maybe thats still a common reason though.. Being lazy or afraid of getting ashamed for missing dodges due to locked animation..

in Necromancer

Posted by: Noha.3749

Noha.3749

Utility would be great in DS to slightly compensate for the lack of scaling vs more than one target. (Personally that is not that much of a deal for ME, but an argument alot of players have when wishing for fixes/buffs)

Might be a bit too overwhelming for foes in 1v1 though.

At least ,definitely not for Lich/Plague form. That would rip too much.

how fight vs s/d thief?

in PvP

Posted by: Noha.3749

Noha.3749

Tips vs S/D Thief:

Close the distance to the Infiltrator Strike return point, putting their ability to reset slightly but meaningfully less efficient.

You outsustain S/D if you keep them from resetting, unless you are something way too glassy. Also, in sPvP they do less dmg than in WvW so dont panic if you get jumped.

what ROLE is Warrior Class Lacking?

I think it’s missing the role of requiring skill to win.

Yes cause there isn’t any other class that could possibly require less skill “cough ranger cough”

Edit: Once you make a ranger, gear him up and reach 80, you will realise it’s one of the most difficult classes in order to become viable (aka get a spot in meta groups) (and yes rangers do have a spot)

It’s pretty far from what people think rangers are doing (spam RF, repeat)

Yeah must be one of the most difficult profession by far. from highest difficulty to lowest they come at 6th place or so.

Now thats actually quite difficult.
But since the nerf to turreteers they might actually take your place on the leaderboard of difficulty.

Some people really don’t understand that sometimes, if you’ve got nothing nice to say, don’t say it. OP obviously was showcasing a video, not asking for opinions, and he received unnecessary negative attention.

Well he didnt ask for anything, he just posted a video of himself in WvW on the forum.
Didnt ask for praise, feedback or critisism, and to be fair he got a bit of everything.
Which is the way it works. People highlighted what they liked, and some people like me highlighted what i/we didnt like and therefor leaving room for improvement.

There is nothing wrong with critisism, positive or negative as long as it isnt harrassment or unprovoced flame.

Best counter to GS/Hammer warriors

in WvW

Posted by: Noha.3749

Noha.3749

Warriors in general are very telegraphed.
GS and Hammer are the most telegraphed weapons they have..
Alot of Warriors using those will be a piece of cake but you will, as always run into some bossmode players.

Problem is no matter how telegraphed they are, once they start CC you, and you are out of stunbreaks or in a bad wep-swap, then you will eat alot of hurting.

Your job is to read animations and value dodges/evades.
Warriors job is to be non-predictive with his attacks.

I also struggle vs some Warriors, but both hammer and GS are easy to read, that doesnt mean it will be hard for some builds to dance in melee.

Id recommend most engineer builds vs hammer/gs warrior, condi and power ranger or perhaps even a powermancer.. Lichform wont get outhealed, neither will DS 1.. not even dagger auto while sitting in a well…

Oh well.

I quit my warrior because it was too straight forward.
They are extremely easy to play on an avrage level, but to push your skill above that you require quite a bit due to enemies easily reading and predicting those über telegraphed attacks.
So below the actually great warrior players out there, there is a huge gap.

However i play WvW and not PvP mainly, thats also where i duel the most.
Out of all the duels ive and witnessed with friends and foes i must say that those “pro” warriors are extremely hard to beat. Not because they play an “easy” profession, its because they have almost reached perfection.

Summary:
Warrior is a very easy professional to play on an avrage level.
But Warrior require alot to be great due to being typically “predictable” and telegraphed.

My point of view is from a Thief, Engineer and Necromancers perspective.

The one who says that to do it of the video is easy I invite him to do it.
I do not like to use the build that uses 80 % of the thieves (meta) either the d/p that puts you in seal automatically.
Always I have looked for the balance of hurt and survival because I think that it is the function of the thief, to kill and to survive.
Also I have videoes of duels in Sacrarium of Obsidian. Thank you very much the people who values what we do and to the crybabies are invited by me to a duel 1v1.

We didnt cry, we just said your video and skill was not so good.
We didnt compare you to our selves (mostly), we compared you to a bunch of other thief videos which are better than yours.

How good are thieves at dueling?

in Thief

Posted by: Noha.3749

Noha.3749

What above posts said.
Every profession have different strengths and weaknesses, a few examples:

Thieves strength is being slipperly/agile with high burst dmg.
Engineers strength lies in controlling their opponent, making great use of terrain.
Rangers excell at wearing down opponents at range, rocks wide open fields.
Warrior/Guard strength lies with their passive&active defenses along with high dmg.
Elem are the masters of AoE dmg/support, except s/f which is single target mostly.
Mesmer brings gimmicky utilities and can be confusing to play against, high burst.
Necros bring high damage both AoE and single target, death shroud can soak up a little bit of damage.

Tried to bring up some typical strengths while keeping it short..

Reason to why i summarised the professions is to highlight the different areas where certain builds and profession thrive.
Thieves does not thrive in forced/set fights, however no one travels to point A to B as fast nor brings as much spike damage to a single target as a thief and gets away if it fails as smoothly.

Whining about condition rangers in spvp

in Ranger

Posted by: Noha.3749

Noha.3749

Well i struggle vs above avrage rangers on a regular basis on my thief for example.
Weird according to some but its situational struggle.

Power do great damage in open fields, and in WvW there are plenty.
Getting jumped at 1800ish range hurts alot, but to be fair so does getting jumped by a thief from stealth with basilisk, and we can gapclose really fast, however its not always optimal in WvW if you gap with few dodges left and popped stunbreaker(shadowstep signet/infil signet) and in worst case scenario, shadow refuge. Its not fun to dance around a stone signet and a pet fear/knockdown followed my maul.
Dire rangers i just ignore and run past, unless its a trapper ranger.

But yeah, prediction and reactive playstyle wins games. I need to improve and i know it. Every profession got their advantages and weaknesses.

P.s. The power ranger i struggle against isnt the balls to the walls zerker ranger, its the defensive traited ranger, which sometimes have a few knights equipped etc… And S/D is harder than GS imo..

Can we rename the Thief forum to the Salty forum?

Could you explain me where we have been salty?

C’mon man don’t play dumb. Read the first two post again and tell me that they aren’t passive aggressive. Not to mention the mouth breather above this post. Every time someone post a video on this forum, the self proclaimed pros pop out of the woodwork to down talk the OP.

Passive aggressive?
I said nothing to offend him, i just pointed out that it wasnt that skillful in comparison to a bunch of other thieves out there. Not saying it was bad neither, just that it was baseline.
As mentioned its so much backed up defense vs some fairly low skilled enemy players.

Another note, i might have been slightly salty, and i know why and its solely due to the title of the thread:
Thief- To survive and to kill, sounds a bit self-boasting whilst the video attatched to it is mere baseline.

Im still not saying he is bad, but the video was nothing to boast about since, as above posts mentioned. Baseline is expected of anything and anyone, including thieves.

And no, im no pro neither, but i can redo this most days when i wvw, and for me, i would feel bad if i dont win a fight if the enemy is really dull.

I guess i maybe watched the video with too much expectations when i first read the thread name.

Still not saying he is bad. He is decent, baseline in the video atleast.

This reply might have had a bit of salt to it, but thats because im moody for other reasons.

Well, not sure what to say.
I watched the entire video but i was not impressed..
You fought a bunch of PvE players which didnt even pressure you or your friend went stealth.
Its just bad in comparison to the skilled thieves you can find out there.

how to stack bloodlust quickly in wvw?

in Players Helping Players

Dont equip bloodlust on your “main” weapons.
Remeber to equip bloodlust on one of your underwater weapons so you dont lose stacks when you get into the water.

Go ham with the player tags in WvW, or stack up a bunch of animals and slaugther them as fast as possible. Remeber to have the weapon with bloodlust signet equipped when you kill stuff.

A few WvW questions.

Noha.3749

There is always something meaningful to do in WvW.
Ive seen 1 commander with 40 followers taking down full sized zergs one by one by just being awesome and organized.

WvW seems to be where Arena Net is putting their money and effort with the comming expansion aswell.

Roaming partys are valuable aswell, for the moments when fewer members are online.
Disrupting enemy stragglers, sneak capping camps, towers and keeps. Reinforcing valuable locations with siege etc.

You will never find lacking in WvW.
But i suggest you to play on the EU servers, something like Desolation (My server).
Its great to have players from varying timezones to fill out the oh-so-important gaps where some other servers have done jsut the same.

it’s not easymode cancer like for example the turret engineer used to be.

It is easy mode cancer, just not as extreme as turret engy was, for a zerker build it is absolutely easy mode cancer compared to others, go stick a mediocre player on medi guard, they will roll their face across the keyboard and be effective, go stick that same player on shatter mes and they will be a liability.

They press about the same amount of buttons, have less dodges and are very predictable.
Lowest base hp ingame, bad mobility, but alot of heals and blocks and cleanses.

Guardians: Heals, Blocks and Cleanses
vs
Thief/Mesmer: Stealth, Evades and Mobility.

Take your pick, both are good in different situations.

But yes, they are far from a free kill compared to other zerkers that you jump.

Then go ahead with your Warrior then!
If its mobility, speed and swift strikes you want then Warrior is better for you than necromancer.
Necromancers are very, very slow with both attacks and mobility.

To be honest, if those are the only alternatives and the warrior MUST use 2 swords..
Then ill have to say Necromancer.

There are a few top tier necros our there, but not really any top tier double sword warriors..

Thieves and Mesmers as power relies on spike damage.
Guardians counter spike dmg with blocks and aegis.

DPS Guardian is strong but predictable. Its a very simple kit and rotation.
The moment you realize you cant apply basilisk Venom on a Guardian with your first hit, you will see a bright light of knowledge strike you and voila, you are good to go.

On mesmer: Dont stealth, sword 3, swap, GS 2→BLINK→Shatter→3→4→Dodge→Shatter… Obviously they just pop a shield and survive and kill you instantly because you suicided by wasting all your skills when the Guard still got his active defences up.

Depends on level of play.
Dual sword warriors are somewhat fun in regular games, but have less potential the higher up you climb.

Necromancers are good if you got a friend watching your back, you cant outrun anything if you are in trouble. But your damage is brutal if power, and condimancers hold their own pretty well.. except outnumbered.

Ps. Necro gets a Greatsword as a new weapon when the expansion arrives.

Warrior, Ranger, Guardian...?

Warriors have more weapon combinations, therefor more build options (although alot of sub-optimal builds). Almost as fast as thieves. Which are fastest in game. Highest armor and health ingame. Viable with power AND condition builds.

Guardians will and are always wanted everywere due to their active and passive defences they can maintain even with full damage builds. Very slow, but some say better burst of dmg. Highest armor and lowest health ingame. Viable with power builds.

Too lazy to edit, but MY vote:
1. Thief because you are ALWAYS on your toes, you are superfast and high spike dmg.
2. Engineer because of the fun tricks.
3. Mesmer because of.. well.. I love the theme. They are not fun in Blobwars though imo.
4. Elementalist, reason for being last is because of locked range. Staff plays out as a mage in any game and ive had that too much already. D/D is fun but no range options.
However they are much easier than engineer due to.. well.. Easy rotations no matter the amount of spells.

Highest skillcap with alot of umph IMO:

Ele, Engi, Mesm & Thief

Ele: efficient everywere, and contrary to Kovy mentioning Warriors as most PvE dmg, elementalist outshine Warriors by a mile in PvE dpswise. By a mile. Fun but you are locked to the range of your weapon.

Engi: You can do anything and everything to a certain extent, although a bit clunky to play and you dont really have the luxury of having any easymode builds if you are to be efficient. However they are very fun with all their tricks!

Mesmer: Alot of dmg in PvP/WvW, however can be hard to tag with in zergfights and you will be wanted more for your utility than your damage, except if you are in a sniper team. For PvE its about the same. Portals & reflects, decent-good damage.

Thief: Most >single< target dmg in game if we are talking spikes of dmg. Fastest travelers in game. Wanted in PvP for mobility, in WvW for mobility and safety caused by stealth aswell as their strong single target burst. At the moment Venom share builds work in blobwars if you team with necro/ele. Wanted in PvE for stealth, blinds and good damage. IMO hellalotof fun and not as tiresome as juggeling 20 skills to match the efficiency of 10, however you will have a hard time adapting to some situations.

"DragonHunter" name feedback [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Noha.3749

Totally agree with this being a good name. My view on Guardians, Paladins & Holy warriors of any kind in any game is that they really do specialize on fighting the biggest foes. The >fanatics< specialize on fighting their arch enemy no matter the sacrifice, often evolving to something the public eye barely would recognize to be a “Guardian”.

In Guild Wars, Dragons are the biggest threat. The Greatest of demons.
If we had Arch Demons instead of dragons, i swear Guardians specialization would be renamed Demonhunter instead.. Since its their job, the life they chose if they dedictate their lives to put up resistance in form of offense.

Dragonhunter represent the offensive fanatic group of Guardians imo.
Which is fine by me, even though im not a Guardian player myself.

No, its not rediculous at all.
Thieves does however fill an important role in situational line-ups that no one can compete with.

But yes, situational at best is not enough, although i do believe we are the cause of this cele/sentinel meta.

in Thief

Its not as complicated that a thieves role and value should need 2 pages of text..

Thieves fill the role of roaming support more or less.
They +1 some fights
They depac/cap nodes
They rarely do, but are capable of 1v1
They add stealth, poison and blinds, sometimes burst
They are fast. Really fast

They depend on others just as much as anyone, however they cant fill the brawler role,
which is meta. Spike damage vs brawlers is not as efficient, but adds up when assisting a friendly brawler that is brawling with another brawler too long. They are also efficient with being fast enough to support another objective before its too late.

A Brawler does his best fending off 2 or more players for as long as possible.
Fending off 2 brawlers is easier than 1 brawler+1 thief.

Therefor a brawler easier fills more roles because people are rotating and you will encounter more than 1 player at a time most of the times.

If you ever watched one of those wrestling shows on television (dont mind them being rigged), then you can pretty much compare the combatants to the brawlers, and the thief to the allied observer throwing in a chair to his beloved combatant, and then quickly moving on to the other cage to assist another ally. The assist can go either way, the chair can break, the opposing combatant can use it to his advantage.
But with the right timing and skill it CAN determine the outcome for to the better.
