Hello all!
After some time away from my Engineer, I finally powered him to 50 and crafted my way to 80 – now it’s time for the build suggestions.
First off, I played Pistol/Pistol with Grenade/Bomb kit and Elixir Gun the entire way, and I love the playstyle, so I really want to stick to that (especially the Grenade/Bomb kits, as I love the Toolbelt skills). I’m looking at going condition damage (obviously), but I’d also like some Power in there for the Pistols. That said, I’m looking for some build advice, as well as what to wear along the way.
I have two other characters wearing Rabid gear with Undead runes (Conditionmancer and Confusion Mesmer), but I’m not against doing that for a third time, as the gear is cheap and easy to get, and I can always change it up later. However, if there are better choices, I’m open to ideas.
For trinkets, I’m not sure yet (Rabid comes to mind again, just because of the ease of getting them)
For Pistols, I normally use Berserker’s weapons, but I was thinking Rampager’s because of the added Condition Damage.
Any help is greatly appreciated – keep the suggestions coming!
So…
Focus: The Anomaly / Spirit Links
Scepter: Abyssal Scepter
GS: Vision of the Mists
Spear: Ignis Fatuus
Sword: WhisperbladeAm I missing something?
Are you looking for only the Mesmer Mist weapons? If not and you just want a cool purple Trident – Peacemaker’s Trident. The Staff is also really cool, and the only one I see myself using at the moment.
Almost to Whisperblade myself!
Just got my Arah shoulders last night – I think my armor is finally complete!
(edited by Oglethorpe.5369)
I’m currently using Grenade Kit/Bomb Kit/Elixir Gun (thanks to Poe and others for that suggestion), and I’m having the time of my life just bombing EVERYTHING. I also drop bombs on guildies as I see them – so much fun.
Last night, I was running through Brisban doing some events (including soloing 2 camps of Bandits and some Vets – I know it’s PvE and it should be easy on my 6th trip through the world, but I’m barely ever getting touched), and my typical rotation is to open with Pistol skills, end with Glue Shot, drop the Big Ol’ Bomb and Grenade Barrage, then Bomb/Grenade/Pistol anything that’s left. I was just going about my business when a couple other people came along to do the events – a couple of them said I looked like I was going nuts. There were explosions all over the place, it was glorious.
So yes, total Kit junkie here (still sketching out the build I’m aiming for), but unless something changes between level 25 and 80, I don’t really see myself wanting to do anything else. I’ll certainly try new skills as I get them, but the kits I’m using now are so much fun it’s ridiculous.
I’ve tried the grenade kit, and it hits harder than pretty much anything else, but I’ve yet to master the run/ground target/fire combo. No clue how people do it without major re-mapping of keys and/or mouse buttons, or they have 3 hands. :-)
I don’t know how you do it on a keyboard (I also apparently have small fingers), but I recently bought an MMO mouse, and it has been incredible so far.
I have no traits into Tools yet, but Static Discharge looked like the obvious choice, so nice to know I’m onto something there. I know that at my low level, I have quite a few conditions on enemies – not nearly up to what my Necro can do, but they do seem to melt away.
Depending on what you slot, I recommend taking a look at Kit Refinement over Static Discharge in the Tools trait line. If your utilities have toolbelt skills with long CDs, then SD might be less help than KR. KR casts a spell upon kit equip (10s iCD, so if you’re bringing 2-3 kits and swapping often, you’ll get some nice free boosts. For instance, swap to Elixir Gun and you get a free Super Elixir (combo field!) before you even get a skill off. Pretty sweet. Check the wiki for what each kit swap casts.
As far as stacking conditions, FT toolbelt + Poison Dart Volley + Static Shot + Elixir Gun’s Fumigate and you have burning, poison, confusion, blindness, & vulnerability in 3 skills. Swap back and pepper in some pistol auto-attack and you can add bleeding to that mix.
Do all that with Kit Refinement you’ve also got a healing field around you that can be blast finished with Elixir Gun #4 for area retaliation and create some distance.
This is my standard opening salvo btw. When they get close again (and if they’re not dead [not likely] then I FT em to ash.
I saw something on that Guru thread about Kit Refinement – I’ve also been reading some of the wiki articles, so thanks for all the info (especially the skill rotations)!
With everything I’ve been reading about gadgets and everything, I can’t help but feel like Blankman sometimes… and I think it’s hilarious!
Understandable. Rifle versus Pistol is a playstyle choice—primarily whether or not you want to center yourself around Power or Condition Damage.
You seem to be well into the swing of things even at level 15. Just steer clear of the Inventions tree unless you plan on using turrets and you really can’t go wrong in the building of your Engineer.
I played with Turrets for a full level or so, but I just wasn’t into them as much as the other kits. I read some of your thread on guru and got some helpful info there, so I’ll just play around for the near future and worry about what way to go when I get there.
For leveling, the best kit is the Bomb Kit. Learn to love it, though dungeon content makes it dangerous to use a lot of the time at level 80.
The Bomb Kit has been awesome so far, and the toolbelt Bomb is just hilarious.
The Grenade Kit doesn’t really shine until Grenadier is unlocked at level 60—the same with the Flamethrower and Juggernaut.
The Grenade kit isn’t great on its own, but the toolbelt barrage of grenades has been a life saver so far. I finished Metrica Province midway through level 12, which is fast for me (I usually wind up at or around level 15).
When leveling I liked Static Discharge, wielding a Rifle with Tool Kit + Utility Goggles + Rifle Turret, specced mostly into Firearms, Inventions, and Tools.
I cannot say how the Grenade Kit performs as a Condition Damage build while leveling. My only real experience with it is using it at level 80. I didn’t much like the way it worked and still do not.
I do carry a Rifle with me, but I don’t like it nearly as much as Pistol/Pistol. I have no traits into Tools yet, but Static Discharge looked like the obvious choice, so nice to know I’m onto something there. I know that at my low level, I have quite a few conditions on enemies – not nearly up to what my Necro can do, but they do seem to melt away.
I wouldn’t say “favorite” yet, as I’m only level 15, but it has been the most fun in that time, no doubt. I gave up Ranger at level 20, and my Warrior is on hold at level 15, but I feel like Engi will definitely make it past that wall.
To add to my question, it looks like the Grenade/Bomb kit is a good start to a condition-type build, and Pistols have conditions on them as well, so it looks like I’m leaning that way at the moment – does Elixir gun complement that type of play?
I’m already 5 into Firearms for the bleeding on Crit, the pistol recharge will be my Adept trait. Continuing to build along that line seems like the best way to go for now, and I’m already looking at winding up with Rampager’s gear for endgame (although I’m still a LONG way away from that).
So, that said, any other info on a Pistol/Kit condition build that goes deep into Firearms/Tools?
Hello!
I just picked up my Engineer over the weekend, and I honestly had the time of my life running around setting kitten on fire and blowing kitten up! I’ve leveled 5 other classes (Mesmer, Guardian, Thief, Necro, Ele) to 80, and they all had their “fun” moments, but Engi has been (pardon the pun) a blast so far.
I’m nowhere close to needing final build advice, but I’m currently having a lot of fun with Pistol/Pistol, with Grenade/Flamethrower/Bomb Kits for skills – is there a good build out there I can aim towards?
Thanks for anything you can provide, Engi is awesome so far!
use temple timers. easy to find when stuff spawns
That’s created new issues. Tarnished Coast is being overflowed on these events now – I had to miss Claw twice yesterday due it. Also people have been messing with the timers much more since guesting was introduced. They are rarely accurate anymore.
Same on FA, in regards to the amount of people in an event – it never went to overflow, and our timers are fine, but during one Shadow Behemoth spawn I caught, in the time it took me to get from the Heartwoods to the spawn location, it was already at 80% health… that’s a 10-15 second run with swiftness… I made it and got Gold and the chest, but anyone who was just slightly out of that range might have missed it.
Also happened to me – I got Leveler and either Champion/Veteran (can’t remember which one it was) at the same time for 4 & 5, no chest.
Since then, I completed them all except for the Yak Slayer, tried logging out/in on another character, still nothing.
With the sheer attention and interest this thread generated, I hope Anet realizes how much people love treasure hunting. Final Rest was a/an unique enough skin to have people looking for it. Putting lore bound weapons/armor that are unique into rewards for completion of rare events would be a huge boon to those looking for more ‘end game content’.
I hope they see the potential for this kind of thing and build off of it. Work required: 3D modelling of new skin, testing for clipping with all races, adjust loot table and plop some hints into the world or use existing dialogue/books.
Treasure hunting is one of my favorite things to do in MMOs, dating back to FFXI – the thrill of finding something rare like that is a big time rush, it’s like a bucket list of sorts.
That said, I’ve always known at least where the treasure actually is…
The amount of whining on this forum is unbelievable.
It’s why the forums have such a bad reputation…
Personally Vision of the Mists looks far far better than either legendary, and will only cost about 200g. No matter what way you approach it, a legendary weapon requires tons of effort and money and time. They just are too hideous for me to waste my resources.
I agree 100%, but it’s just an opinion. I also went for a purple theme, so that kind of made my decision for me. The sword skin itself isn’t fantastic-looking, but the glow is beautiful.
I knew from the minute I first saw VotM (before the recipe was even known) that it was going to be the only GS for my Mesmer. I was a little upset when I saw it cost 250 ectos (and ~1500 Orichalcum Ore), but that wasn’t hard at all – probably took me a month to save up, and I did have some guildies help me towards the end (which I paid back). Haven’t looked at anything else since, although I did try a Confusion build for a while… wound up going back to Shatter because I missed having VotM on my back.
In the meantime, the Mystic/Peacemaker’s GS make for good temporary skins.
I think you’re doing something wrong… I’ve made a bunch of mystic weapons in my time playing (Staff, GS, 2x Scepter, 2x Dagger, Shortbow, Spear, Speargun), and I have enough SP to make at least one more on almost every level 80 I have.
My Guardian was at 12 SP recently (after I spent 100 SP to make 2 Mystic Spikes for my Thief – for the skins only), and now he’s back up to 150+, from just running Fractals/Dungeons for a couple weeks. I also have all slot skills/elites unlocked on him, so it’s not like I didn’t spend them when I had them.
I guess it depends on your play schedule – if you play regularly at all (maybe 4-5 hours a night, 2-3 times a week), SP definitely aren’t a problem. That’s enough time to do a daily run of Fractals and some other dungeons before/after – probably ~5 SP a night.
Also, do you use food/consumables when you play? They give small boosts to EXP, but it still means you get more EXP, small or not. You might also have some boosters lying around from BL chests – depending on whether or not you want to save them for alts, it might be time to use them. There’s also an EXP Guild Banner, which any guild should be able to have ready for dungeon runs. WvW also gives a LOT of EXP.
I’m guessing the upper-left is Spatial Surge… It looks even worse if you have a Female Mesmer.
Also, try mining ore – that one is pretty bad too
Priory Greatsword sounds pretty cool. The beam reflected in the glass would be a neat effect. Now I’m sad my Mesmer is in Whispers.
You should be able to get the Priory GS on another character and transmute it onto a white GS (take the Priory skin and the white item’s stats) to make it Account Bound, then you can give it to your Mesmer.
In my opinion, no Greatsword even comes close to Vision of the Mists for Mesmers, especially if you have a purple/pink dye scheme (I use a combination of Charcoal/Persephone/Midnight Purple). Peacemaker’s Greatsword is a distant second, but a lot easier to get in the meantime.
The Mystic Forge is like a box of chocolates, someone will leave it on the counter in the sunlight, melting all your hopes and dreams of what could have been.
You never know what you’re going to get…
Unless you’re me, then you know the Forge isn’t giving you kitten.
I’m loving my Conditionmancer at the moment – so much fun. Had a couple Heartseeker Thieves come after me, only to stealth and run away. I happened to see them coming back, so I planted a Well of Suffering and suddenly saw 3 “Downed Enemy Player” icons on minimap. Sent my Flesh Golem in to charge them, 3 shiny new bags of loot at my feet!
Surviviability is ridiculous – I was running through the front gate of a supply camp that was being raided and I came across 4 invaders on a hill, so I decided to try and kill them. Threw down some bleeds and an Epidemic, downed two, but then the other two got me after I put up one hell of a fight. I decided to not even fight while downed, and just before being defeated, had a Ranger show up and kill one of them, which rallied me. I stood up, bled the other one out, walked away smiling.
Hey mate, Volcanus shouldn’t be so hard to make if you have the skill points. I’ve made calculations myself because I’ve consider making it and if you buy molten cores and destroyer cores, it would only cost up to 240g-260g so considering the price doesn’t increase with the patch. This in contrast with 400g+ you’d spend on lodestones themselves.
The only problem with this is that you need to have about 270 skill points to forge it, considering that you haven’t used any in your playtime you should have enough.
If you don’t have the gold easiest way to achieve this is doing cof path 1 over and over for cores/lodestones/skill points and gold, should take about a week if you put a few hours to it a day.
In your case though I would sell the lodestones and just put a cheap buy orders for cores.
WvW is also a decent way of getting skill points, with all the events and crazy amounts of experience being tossed around. Not as good as dungeons, but once you hit DR, it’s a decent backup plan.
I actually forgot the Pumpkin Cookies gave MF. Now that you mention them, I remember that I almost decided to use them as normal food for my Conditionmancer, but went with Lotus Fries instead, as they’re much easier to make (I try to provide for myself most times, buying only when I can’t make it myself).
I’m surprised they’re so cheap though – you have to make 3 other ingredients to make them in the first place (which is why I never bothered with them). Good call.
Farming in Southsun for an hour at a time usually gets me 2-3 Powerful Blood and anywhere from 10-20 Potent Blood.
This is a very inefficient use of your time if you are trying to save up these mats.
Potent Blood are worth about 1.90 silver.
Powerful Blood are worth 24.85 silver.So in a good hour you make (1.9×20) + (3×24.85) = 38 + 74.55 = 1g 12s 55c
In a bad hour you make (1.9×10) + (2×24.85) = 19 + 49.70 = 68s 70sYou can make more than that by running 1 dungeon. You’re way better off running dungeons and buying the blood you want on the TP than farming them.
I typically get home from work before guildies, leaving me with about an hour to do whatever I want before the nightly dungeon runs (I don’t do pugs). This is time I would usually spend leveling an alt, but I’ve put that aside to focus on farming for now.
I do plan on buying a good amount of them, I’m just trying to farm up what I can until the price drops some.
Good night or bad, I can get close to 20 Karka Shells an hour, which is ~1.5g. Just last night, I had no blood drop, but I counted 11 consecutive Karka Shells. I also tend to get at least 1 rare (my luck has been HORRIBLE with ectos lately though), and a slue of blues/greens/junk for salvaging Gossamer/Orichalcum. On any given day, I wind up close to 20s on top of however many shells/blood I get.

If it’s still bugged today, Monday will be the next “full update”, correct?
It’s a luxury item, a vanity thing. Reality is, for those 8 gold you can easily buy 2 bag slots for gems and fill them with 18 slotters, getting you 36 slots instead of 4.
So really, it’s for rich people who can then say “i’ve got 3 20-slot bags”.
It really isn’t though. No one can see your bags, so it ISN’T a vanity thing. It’s a poor design decision and I think more people need to learn that you can get them for “free” from fractals.
I certainly learned from this thread yesterday – I hadn’t even given them a glance before (because I didn’t want my inventory getting all over the place). If you’re already ascended/infused, and not going after the capacitor/legendaries, what else is there to spend relics on?
I bought 3 uncommon boxes for one character (kept my invisible bag), sold my 3 15-slot bags, made 1.8g back. Tonight, I’ll be spending the rest of my relics on other characters, freeing up 5-6 bank spaces (while making money off my 15-slot bags towards Eye of Rodgort) in the process. Love killing two birds with one stone (three birds is just gravy).
For map completion, there isn’t really any food that’s going to help out much, use whatever you want/nothing at all.
For leveling, there’s boatloads of “suboptimal” foods you can buy for 1-2c each on the TP that still provide useful stat boosts/bonuses.
Map completion means renown hearts (as well as events), which can involve killing mobs, so the increased gold/MF/exp is better than nothing…
Here’s the wiki page for all the food: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Food
It’s broken down by the primary stat. Most food gives an EXP bonus, so it’s whatever else you want on top of that. There are foods that grant swiftness on kills, but it’s only 5 seconds, so not worth it, imo.
If you’re a level 80 and you’re going for map completion, the typical Omnomberry Bar is a good choice, as it will give you more gold (silver, “gold” is so misleading here) and MF. If you’re not 80, but you’re 45+, Candy Corn Almond Brittle is a good alternative (MUCH cheaper too), as it also gives gold/MF, as well as a 15% experience bonus to kills.
Gotta agree with ReMortis.
I originally bought Malefacterym for the stats, but it really does go perfect with Eye of Rodgort.
With the fractal bags, which ones do people prefer? I looked away from them because they move certain items around, which I don’t really like (I’m very OCD with inventory management).
I would assume you’d want all Uncommon Equipment Boxes, because they’re the cheapest, and they wouldn’t move dropped Exotics/Rares (which practically never happen anyway) all over the place – am I correct with this?
I’m not going after any Legendaries, personally. Twilight/Sunrise/Eternity are kitten cool, don’t get me wrong, but the amount of work needed for them are just not for me. I play often, but still casually, so to save up materials for the next year or two for one weapon (rightfully so – they’re bloody LEGENDARY, for kitten’s sake), or to just focus on really nice-looking exotics for all my characters – it’s not really even a decision at that point.
Vision of the Mists is the perfect Greatsword for my Female Mesmer (had it a little more than a month into the game – Whisperblade/The Anomaly in the future). I also use Peacemaker’s Trident/Spear.
AC weapons are absolutely beautiful on my Guardian (Greatsword/Scepter/Sword/Staff), as well as the Peacemaker’s Hammer/Shield.
Eye of Rodgort is the perfect Necro scepter, I couldn’t imagine using anything else actually (will take some time though). Also – where the kitten is Final Rest already?
I love my dual Mystic Daggers/Peacemaker’s Shortbow on my Thief.
I’m also fully ascended on Guardian (for Fractals) and Necro (for WvW), and I’ve been able to fully gear 4 level 80’s, with #5 (Elementalist) on the way.
So… ALL of that, or (not even) one legendary? Not to mention what’s left in the bank/collection/karma for other future weapons. I’m certainly not hating against people who want legendaries – that’s your thing – it’s just something I’ll never be interested in.
Yep – I went ahead and did this the other day. Had 48 Potent Blood and the dust in my collection, so I figured I’d give it a shot. Needed 6 to come out on top, wound up with 5. I hate the forge so much it’s not even funny…
For anyone saying it was only one attempt, I’ve used the forge hundreds of times on masterwork/rares in the past, only ever received a decent return once (4 masterworks to a rare, which gave no ectos). I also tried saving soulbound major/superior sigils/runes from dungeons, wound up with Ogre Slaying/Nightmare Court, and some worthless runes. I know it can’t always come out great, but in my experience it’s happened once. 1/100+ is not even an option.
So, use at your own risk, but if you want my opinion, screw the forge. When you factor in the 15% loss from the trading post, I probably came out even, but still…
(edited by Oglethorpe.5369)
Have you done the math to compare selling the potent blood and using that money to buy more powerful blood instead of up-crafting? You might find that you save time/money/skillpoints by just selling what you don’t need and buying what you do. Just a thought.
That’s not a bad option. I was looking to avoid selling/buying at all, only using the prices to compare what it would normally cost to buy vs. promote and get similar results.
Also, buying means I’m at the will of the market, which is currently high for blood (up about 6s in the past week or so). If I can take what I have right now and turn it into T6, I wouldn’t have to wait for powerful blood prices to drop. It’s also a goal for the future, so with high prices now, I would only be interested in what I could get without paying for it (i.e. promotion, drops, loot bags). When the price drops or I’m close enough is when I’ll grab what’s left.
I was just interested to see if anyone does the promotion thing, but you’ve definitely given me an alternative option.
Going after Eye of Rodgort – 500 Powerful Blood is a pretty heavy task.
Farming in Southsun for an hour at a time usually gets me 2-3 Powerful Blood and anywhere from 10-20 Potent Blood. Is it worth it to promote?
Even if it yields only 5 Powerful Bloods, figure that’s a total of ~1g output. 50x Potent Blood is ~75s, 5x Cystalline Dust is ~35s, and 20s for the Powerful Blood put in, for a total of ~1.3g. Ideally, I wouldn’t be paying for ANY of this, as the Blood/Dust would already be saved up.
So, 6 Powerful Blood would be close enough to be a positive result to make this worthwhile, imo. The only thing that would suck here is the constant need for Philosopher’s stones (Rodgort needs 2 Eldritch Scrolls), although 1 skill point would get me 2 attempts.
This Potent Blood is just sitting around, only being used when I decide to use them for a chance at ectos, and there are other fine materials I can save for that purpose.
Thoughts? Just curious to see what people are/aren’t doing
I say we raid Anet’s headquarters and demand a location for the staff drop!
Interestingly, there was some mention that the new class specific box-rewards for laurels would be used to get some rare skins into our hands that are currently gated behind RNG.
Man, I hope this skin is in Necromancer boxes! (even at 100:1)
That would be a pretty tempting waste of currency…
I stopped looking for Final Rest for the time being – I’m currently farming/saving for Eye of Rodgort, but so many powerful bloods… I finally just broke down and bought Deathwish (couldn’t take the look of Bramblethorne anymore), so that means we’ll probably have Final Rest soon, of course.
Darx.9842, you know the rule; pics or it didn’t happen. No matter how much a friend of a friend said he’s sure he’s seen it, he hasn’t until there’s a screenshot.
As for final rest, it’s bugged out of the loot table. It doesn’t exist ingame, stop wasting your time of this event.
Its funny, because what you just said… Doesnt make ANY Sense to me…
You told him to have pictures, or else it isnt proof? Yet, you say its bugged and tell us to stop wasting time?… Pictures or you don’t know
Final Rest does not exist in the loot table in GW2.
At game release, there were thousands of players in every zone in the game, every event were completed infinitely more times 3 months ago than they are now.
If final rest was in the chest that people have been farming, it’d have been found many, many times by now.
Even if the chance was infinitely small, such as the chance for the new exotic recipes from bosses like howling king and ghost eater, it’d have been found.
Search for “final rest” on the TP. See it? That’s cause no one has ever listed it. And even if someone obtained it at some point, it’d have made it on the TP, like every other item released at the start of the game.
It never has been found, and never will be found.
So… pics?
Just joking. Seriously though, I’ll remain positive until I get an official “this is not in the game and here’s proof”. Not showing up on the TP is obviously a strong indicator, but it’s not enough proof to have me give up my quest.

If I’m skeptical its because the claim is that it was seen in Lion’s Arch. I don’t think you could walk across Lion’s Arch with that particular skin showing without setting off a chat-&-screen-cap firestorm that would literally melt that server.
Seen in the distance in Maelstrom Peek maybe , but you just don’t go to Lion’s Arch without having 40+ people around. Somebody would have been beating the ‘prnt scrn’ key until their finger tip was numb.
I could imagine walking through LA while this happened. Why am I suddenly getting negative FPS?…

I was thinking the same thing…
In any case, with the holidays now behind us, I’ll have more time to spend on the event again – when not running FotM, that is. Actually, while we were waiting to start, I noticed quite a few people running around with Scythes, but they were all the Halloween Scythe skin.
(edited by Oglethorpe.5369)
He probably got it confused with the scythe skin from halloween, it wouldn’t be the first time this happens it won’t be the last, throughout the months people have seen this staff from time to time on people, and ask them where they got it but no answer, of course there has never been proof, probably because it isn’t the true staff.
99.9999999999999999999999% sure that what his “friend” saw was the scythe skin.
If someone TRULY had Final Rest…this forum/Reddit would be posting ALL about it.
I know that every time I loot that chest, I have my fingers on my laptop’s Fn + Alt + PrtSc (playing in Windowed mode). Lost count already, but I think I’m 0/9 at this point.
For the past 2 days, I’ve taken my Thief through Southsun (mostly for Passion Fruit for Ascended gear) and got 3 Flowers total, using a Guild Gathering Banner both times. Takes about 15-20 minutes per run, slightly longer if I go for the Rich Orich node/Pearl Islet JP
Without seeing a screenshot of that, I’m skeptical.
Did the event again last night, actually got a rare from the chest!
Nothing yet, just blues and an occasional green. You know – what you’d expect from fighting through 3 champions…
To anyone who has done the event chain – have you found that it doesn’t start 2-3 hours after finishing the pre-events?
I’m sitting here with a party, going on 4.5 hours since pre-events, and there’s still no escort event spawning…
Checked the catacombs multiple times, the vets haven’t respawned, so we should still be on schedule. The eye will heal itself back to 100% whenever it decides that it can’t see or reach anyone.
Update: The escort finally spawned, just around the 4.5 hour mark. So, anyone looking to do the event – be warned: it could take longer than 2-3 hours to start, just be patient.

No.
In other news, I ran the event chain tonight – no drop, but it seems easy enough once you get past that silly champion abomination.
I’ll run it a few more times, but I would love to hear if I’m warm or not…
Personally I think it’s bugged and the devs don’t know about it heck they might’ve even forgot this thing was actually made to be in the game , I’m hoping they’ll see these threads about it and take a look at it because let’s face it, if it actually did drop in game someone would actually have it by now.
Not seeing it on the TP at all has me worried (especially since you can find Caladbolg on there), I’m just hoping that ANet will help an avid fan of the game with something that doesn’t require any bug fixes (or at least, I think it doesn’t), or responding to any complaining, or culling any feelings of hatred from the community (which is rampant).
It’s just a simple question and a request for some more information – seriously… I’ll never want another staff for my Necro as long as I play it, this staff ruined me.
I’ve been following this thing for quite some time now (since I originally wanted it on my Mesmer and saw it on Dulfy’s site some time ago), but now the time has come… You don’t understand: my Necro NEEDS this staff, there is no other.
I know of the hints so far (not crafted, LARGE boss chest, possibly as a result of the event chain in Straits of Devastation), but we need some more info. The skin is obviously in the game, we had some confirmation that it’s a drop… it’s just so… deliciously evil-looking. It’s there, someone took the time to make this skin, let’s put it to good use!
I understand why you wouldn’t want to give info like this out, but please… as a sign of goodwill among men, and a sign of what’s to come in the new year: help us find the staff to end all staves (at least for Necro – my Mesmer is quite happy with the Peacemaker Staff). Help me find the final piece of my Necro puzzle: Final Rest.
I wouldn’t consider this a “petition” necessarily, but please respond if you agree.
ANET! Help!

So, stay with Rampagers?
I know with full Rampagers armor/jewelry, my crit chance is around 43-44% right now, but I don’t see any crits for 3k – that’s crazy – if I was doing that I wouldn’t change a thing…
I was getting a little tired of being that typical glass cannon in dungeons, requiring guildies to constantly be helping me up (although the trouble is pretty far outweighed by the support I’m giving with CStorm/TWarp).
I know there have been a lot of these posts going around lately, but I didn’t want to intrude on someone else’s…
I’ve been using full Rampager’s gear since I can remember, but I’ve recently been thinking about redoing my armor for a little bit of toughness. I can’t remember exactly what my traits look like, but I know I have 30 into Illusions (for Illusionary Persona), and 20 into Domination/Chaos (Staff/GS Skills Cooldown reduction). I primarily use my Greatsword, but I switch to Staff for conditions/warlock when I can. I also keep Null Field/Feedback/Blink/Time Warp as my other skills, as they provide combo fields and defense.
This leads me to my question: what would be the best armor stats for my build? I try to keep my illusions up as often as I can, and when skills are ready, I run in and shatter them, then run back out to range for GS skills, rinse and repeat. I figure the Rabid Karma gear (Condition/Toughness/Precision) would be a good choice, but I was just wondering what people’s opinions on armor choices were. I’m mainly PvE, as I just haven’t tried PvP yet, so consider the gear to be for PvE.
I’d keep my Rampager’s Jewelry for now, as it’s a little too expensive for me to replace it at the moment (I’m a casual player and I just got Vision of the Mists this past weekend, so I’m trying to save gold again).
Thanks for any assistance.
Passive Aggressive said it… I switch between Staff/GS regularly throughout battles (and traited for Staff skill cooldown reduction), but I haven’t had the chance to play with the changes yet. I don’t see it being a HUGE problem, but Chaos Storm/Warlock are two key skills for PvE, so I’m curious to see how much it really affects play, if at all.
I know that I’m able to take 4-5 Risen in Cursed Shore with relative ease, but that does require me to have Chaos Storm up as often as possible, so that 5 seconds might just be a killer after all.
