No Sweap Weapon

I don’t think a weapon swap OUT OF COMBAT is unbalanced or too much ask for. I think having to open up my inventory find what I want to swap to and swap them. I feel like that whole process is unintuitive and brakes immersion. In my opinion it’s a small change (maybe not technically) but it would provide us with a huge quality of life change for us.

As elementalist, nearly every stat option is necessary to us. From Ferocity to Boon Duration. I think Celestial is a perfect fit for us. I’ve been using it in PvP and have absolutely fallen in love with stat distribution. So much so that I’ve decided to start the process of crafting a set for everything else.

I think the biggest challenge is finding the right rune set for your play style.

Wardrobe: Not As Innovative As You Think

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Just letting you use dyes in the bank wardrobe should pretty much fix all of your issues. Then you can see all armors and dyes at the same time.

I agree with this sentiment, giving us the ability to not only preview possible outfits but also previewing all the dyes I think would do wonders for the system as a whole. If they were also able to include the make over kit into it in a non invasive way (much like they do the bank and bag slots) I think there sales would increase and get make the whole just that much more impressive.

P. S. I’m on my phone sorry for any kitten ups.

Plans for new legendary weapons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Paragon.6158

We have no reason to think that the cost of crafting materials will be any different for any new legendary weapons we may get. The only thing that I see could be different are the respective precursors and the associated gifts with each of those weapons.

As for the price increase with respect to new legendaries there will probably be a slight increase due to renewed interest in obtaining legendaries but I imagine that it will fall back down to current levels not long after its implementation.

Now as for legendary armor here is where I see a huge potential for increased demand in materials most notably the T6 ore, cloth, and leather. I imagine that each piece would require some ridiculous amount of magically imbued material.

I believe the introduction of legendary armor will have huge and long lasting effects on the market.

Elementalist Pistol Idea

From a lore standpoint the Rifle doesn’t make much sense to me. But neither do pistols. I love the idea of having a long range damage focused weapon as the staff is predominantly support our utility outside of fire.

With that being said I think the Long Bow would work far better for this. Launching magical arrows based on attunement sounds kitten awesome to me.

Thank you all very much for the answers. I had the sheath weapon unbound. Z X C V are far easier to use them the F# keys are.

I’ll be sure to go back and find a free button to sheath my weapon(s).

Is there anyway to stop casting a spell in the middle of its cast without having to use a dodge. This is especially helpful when you hit the wrong spell in the middle of a fight, are confused, or attacking an opponent who currently has a reflect bubble out.

When do you cut your losses?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Paragon.6158

For the other Trading Post merchants out there at one point during a flip that didn’t sell do you cut your losses? I tried flipping about 40G worth of various mats last week, but was immediately undercut and the cost has continued to drop. At what point or after how much time do you cut your losses get your gold back and get back to investing.

As it stands right now. I have two options.
1. Leave the goods on the Trading Post in hopes of them selling. (The longer they stay there the less gold I have to work with to flip other materials.)

2. Remove the listing and post at a lower listing losing out on any potential gold. I may have made. But giving me more gold to reinvest in the market.

So I ask you fellow flippers at one point in a flip do you feel is necessary to cut your losses get your gold back and start flipping again?

With the influx of new players from the recent sales event and the release of the game in China. How if it all do you see this effecting the global economy of the game. I myself believe that we will see some significant changes in items at static price points. What are everyone else’s thoughts on this?

China will be seperated from our market, so it will have NULL influence

I had no idea that was the case. Seems odd to me. I thought the economy in the game was global. Any idea why they are going to have a separate economy?

I’ve had a great deal of success using a 4/0/0/4/6 build. With Celestial Amulet, Runes of Strength, and Sigils of Fire and Intelligence. (I’m not yet sold on the Runes of Strength and the Sigil of Fire. But they are definitely making my net damage output a significant force.

Here is the link for those interested: Elemental Surge

I’m still toying around with the Adept and Master traits to see what works best overall. I think the biggest factor in my success is my play style with the staff. [Full disclaimer: I am NOT the second coming of whatever Messiah, but I do notice that when I play in said style my team and I are more successful.] As long as I stick with my team-mates and and stay out of the main fray of things, I generally survive longer and am able to be more useful.

Arcane Wave and Arcane Shield are the true unsung heroes of the build especially since I am running Elemental Surge. I’ve debated dropping Mist Form for a third Arcane skill but it saves me far too often then I would like to admit.

I’m having a blast running this and have a level of success that I’m very happy with. Let me know what you all think.

Dedicated healer ?

Our HPS is fine, this game’s fight mechanics are vastly different that of other MMOs allowing us to have a lower HPS and still be effective. Can we heal through someone face tanking boss without them healing themselves, dodging and trying to mitigate the damage in addition to us? No. But what we can do is keep a group a cleansed and give them a nice health cushion to prevent any random blasts from taking them all out.

While I haven’t looked at a healing setup yet for my Eelementalist I’m fairly confident that we can do a great deal of work in that department.

Help please, new player

in Players Helping Players

Just as the other player mentioned joining a guild will help out a ton in getting you more involved with the community. As well as help you make new acquaintances and friends in game.

You can start doing dungeons at level 30 so hang in there you are just around the corner. The game doesn’t change very much at level 80 in fact the only differences between being level 26 is the access to a broader range of content and more skills. At level 80 the game stops progressing instead you begin to fine tune your play style, adjust the look of your character to your liking, and just doing more of what you are doing now. Exploring the world of Tyria, going through dungeons and battling out other servers in WvW.

My suggestion is to take it slow, enjoy the world around you and just have fun with what you’re doing. The heart hunting isn’t everyone’s favorite thing, but you also gain experience from gathering ore, cooking materials, and wood, as well as crafting. I hope all this helps.

Oh and one last thing the Wiki is great help if you ever get stuck on something there are plenty of secret little caves and hideouts in the game that all have something worthwhile in them. You can get to it from the Wiki link at top of the page. Its not a perfect source of information but it is helpful.

Whats the future going to be like?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Paragon.6158

Guild Wars 2 is starting to head in the right direction and Anet promised other feature patches to be coming alongside LS2. If Anet do those two projects correctly, they will have enough time to announce and release a possible expansion.

At the end of the day, wether it is an expansion or not, it was confirmed that a huge portion of Anet’s 350-man team is working on 2 massive projects behind the scenes. If anything, we could see one of these or possibly both getting released in the near future.

I would love to see a source on the large portion of A.Net team working on something.

The developers have repeatedly stated that they never want to create an expansion and that if they can get the bi-weekly release schedule down then all the content coming down the pipe both big and small are going to be released in such a way.

So far I think A.Net is really coming along nicely with how they are updating the game and the direction they are taking it in. They don’t quite have their formula down for how they want to do things. But I think it’s clear that they have a clear goal and are making great progress towards it.

Allow Rune of Altruism to trigger more.

in Suggestions

Posted by: Paragon.6158

Paragon.6158

As it currently stands, Rune of Altruism only trigger off of the number 6 skill of most professions. With Engineers and Rangers being able to trigger it off of some utility skills.

I have no experience with rangers, but this is not true about engineers. Engineers have a med kit they can choose for a healing skill. Entering the med kit by pressing “6” is what triggers runes of altruism (and our own Enhance Performance), not any utility skills, and none of the med kit’s own skills either.

My mistake I was told otherwise earlier, I’ll update my post thank you.

Allow Rune of Altruism to trigger more.

Paragon.6158

As it currently stands, Rune of Altruism only trigger off of the number 6 skill of most professions. The rune states that whenever a Healing skill is used the ability is supposed to trigger. However it doesn’t trigger on the effects of Elementalist’s Staff Water Attunement skills. This strikes me as odd, as the description of the Water Atunement is "Switch to water, to gaining superior support and healing skills.

So my suggestion is that you make Rune of Altruism trigger off of more then just the number 6 skill for classes.

Superior Rune[s] of Altruism

Paragon.6158

I am currently trying to run a Support Staff Elementalist who focuses on cleansing conditions and stacking Buffs on my allies. So I was decided to try and use the Altruism runes, however after some testing I found to my surprise that the only skill that trigger’s the effect is the number 6 heal skill. Is this a bug or are the runes working as intended.

For clarification I tried using Geyser, Healing Rain, and the Evasive Aracana Trigger Cleansing Wave. All of which would not trigger the stacks of might and instance of fury that are listed on the rune.

For referrence: Superior Rune[s] of Altruism

  • Required Level: 60
  • Double-click to apply to a piece of Armor.
  • (1): +25 Healing Power
  • (2): Give 3 stacks of might to nearby allies when using a heal skill. (Cooldown: 10 Seconds)
  • (3): +50 Healing Power
  • (4): +15% Boon Duration
  • (5): +90 Healing Power
  • (6): Give fury to nearby allies when using a heal skill. (Cooldown: 10 Seconds)

Haha well I think the fact that we have a sense of humor about our situation. Honestly this whole thread reminds me of when Wow first launched and everyone hated Paladins and Druids. They where meant to be the versatile classes in the game but they did everything subpar and where only brought along to raids for one or two skills.

Thoughts on Heavy Armor, Hammer?

in Engineer

Posted by: Paragon.6158

Paragon.6158

I would be really happy with a reworked long range rifle. Something that could provide us with some strong sustained single target DPS. A part of combat that I feel we are missing. Which in my opinion would really help the whole “Jack of all Trades” gameplay that Arena Net is so keen on giving us. In addition to that I think adding a Mace to our arsenal of weapons over a Hammer would be most ideal.

Hammers are large and cumbersome, they require great strength and brawn to wield effectively. The Mace on the other hand I feel fits our class design better. They require less brute strength while also being supplemented by an increase in agility and movement. Thanks to our medium armor we it is my opinion that the Mace would be not only the most fitting addition to our arsenal but also one that would work best with our other skills.

I’m a fan of the medium armor I just wish we had some more choices when it came to the styles available to us. If only from a lore standpoint it gives us the extra protection we need while still allowing us to move about the battlefield with little to no restriction. Allowing us to position ourselves in the most strategic of places to best maximize the usefulness of all our skills.

After playing the game off and on since the prerelease, I feel as though I finally have an understanding of how the game mechanics work. I also tend to enjoy playing the most support based profession in other MMOs I play. Due to that I am curious and want to start playing that profession. Could you all please point me in the right direction?
