Mursaat was my favourite Guild Wars 1 race and I am glad to see them return and hopefully learn more about them.
Also as an old GW1 player and a fan of the GW1 lore and Ascalon I would much rather be allies with the Mursaat then the Charr.
I’d much rather play a a Mursaat than a Charr.
Every time I read the words " above average to hard-core player" in this thread, I get this sinking suspicion someone is downplaying their self-righteous justification of trying to be “better than everyone else” cause they play stuff others are essentially locked out on.
To be honest, I would have loved to seen a new race. Unlike many other MMOs, the races also affect (though minimally) the skills their character can use in the game. That, coupled with my interest in seeing a deeper connection to a new race’s culture (or more of, depending) it would have been nice enticement.
That being said, connecting the dots and crossing my T’s, the chance I saw that even remotely happening was slim. Very slim. The only ones I can see being added that we were aware of was, in fact, Tengu. Like most of us here. However, none of the current Season 2 of the Living Story even remotely said anything close to being Tengu-involved, so I couldn’t even bet on it. Unless they made something completely new, a new playable race would not have happened. Not this time, anyhow.
However, expansions do this, this isn’t much of a surprise. Though the light on this in something for the future. They claim to be a new civilization in the expansion, something they trumpeted in the trailer, this obviously means this new civilization plays a key role in the new content. This civilization can also be a foreshadow, or a set-up, to a race in the next expansion.
So you want the Crown Pavilion?
Not exactly, the similarities is the rounds increase over time in an arena styled combat.
I am essentially suggesting a full blown dungeon of 5 people, fighting large scale monsters in a certain order.
Example; Say the first tier pool of bosses are rogues of the current playable races, you fight one of these rogues, if successful without, say, any deaths in the group, it get bumped to the Tier 2 creature pool consisting goliaths and such, and scales in challenge along with it. If failure was met in the first match, it maintains another rogue to fight when you’re ready. The rewards often reflect their difficulty.
Last I remember, Crown Pavilion was not like that. Having fought hours on end in those the last week I am pretty sure they did not grant 5 people to combat Liadri, and you can opt and choose who you fought specifically.
If anyone is interested in a challenging dungeon, I would suggest reading this. Otherwise, a TL;DR is at the bottom.
So inspired by the Fractals of the Mist dungeon, I felt there is more to learn experimenting with fight mechanics that would reward players for attempting the dungeons.
I also feel like we should have a new dungeon that is geared towards testing the more refined dungeon runners, the ones that crave more challenge.
I thought of an idea, where the dungeon is divided similarly to FotM, but leaving out “trash” mobs, and solely start being tested by the big-bads themselves. What better way to do this than a coliseum styled dungeon layout. Where the fights are divided and randomized based on how well your previous challenge was.
Example; The fight you first take on is one of a random three of a bottom tier boss pool. If succeeding against this boss with little trouble, it amps up to the next boss pool, with more mechanics and other tactics needing to be required. This, by standard, should go about 4-5 times for basic running. You get to announce when you are ready for the next fight.
Now imagine if the basic set is done and you claim to test your will on much stronger foes. Challenge yourself in a “Champion Challenge” after the initial bouts. These would be the hardest, and grant better rewards the further you go in. Higher levels of this fight system would also challenge those to use the Agony-system also found in FotM, allowing more desire to make Agony Res gear.
Later you can also add new bosses to the pools, perhaps even related to the progress of the Living Stories and Expansions.
TL;DR Variant: I suggest a new, stronger dungeon for long-time dungeon players.
Please, open critique is always welcome.
Except it’s not a subscription. This was explained earlier — like on page one.
I would like the same things as you — a new zone, new professions, etc. I don’t mind paying for them.
Right now ANet is not using that business model. My suggestion is a thinly veiled desire that ANet would switch from a cosmetic consumer model to a content consumer model.
I admire your vision, and to be honest I feel more on boat with the ideal. The thing is, the LS stuff, though being free essentially, gives us stuff that changed the world, regardless if the content remained. In spite of the big, visual overhauls, the content that was overall consumable were essentially boss fights and mini-games on a monthly basis. Nothing is wrong with that, actually, but hardly worth gem prices. If this became something tangible, it may be “sold” to late-to-the-story players that can eventually buy the Season 2 “Journal” to experience, but overall I do not see this being a thing that A-Net can respond to fast enough.
LS, to me, is something that keeps the world “breathing” in some form or another, whether or not it’s paid for. If you suggest the pay-for-content route, the game may not experience the frequency of said content that would be comparable to the frequency that LS is “spoiling us” with.
- Super Adventure Box: The World
Essentially SAB becomes its own, unique zone filled with all four Worlds to play in (maybe more later on), Vistas, Skill Points, Dynamic Events and its own unique Activity.
- Level 80 Exclusive Dungeons
Dungeons that pressure the highest of players, unlocking exclusive skills and work to achieve new recipes for even stronger gear.
- Ascended Gear Ascends Geater
In tandem of new Level 80 dungeons, the rare drops and achieved goals push the player to further their Ascended (or Legendary) Gear even further.
NOTE: Ascended Gear still would scale like it’s original status in lower level areas.
- New Class: Monk
Akin to the Monks of old, Tyria begins anew to renew the damage Scarlet has wrought upon it, allowing a new class to step forth and begin Tyria’s rebirth in great strides.
Weapon Choices: Staff, Dagger, Focus, Sword, Scepter and Torch.
- New Race: Tengu
With the attack beyond their walls being too close for comfort, Tengu unit in their cause with the major races of Tyria to mend the scars of war. Bringing with them a new life and view from the ancient race’s eyes.
- Aetherblade Raids
A randomly chosen zone is picked by Aetherblades, attacking the denizens recovering from their previous assaults. Players band together to thwart them off and Scarlet’s secret weapons in Aetherblade hands.
NOTE: Types of attacks vary depending on zone attacked. Lower levels may be more prone to zerging for its easier access to new players whereas seasoned zones have more tactic.
- Guild Ladders
Guilds closely knit can test their loyalty and strength among themselves in a vicious race to be top Guild. Rewards come every season to the winners.
Even though the campaign wasn’t really my favorite, I still take factions over all the Living Story updates we got so far.
-New campaign
-New continent
-2 new professions
-and much more
-and all permanentI don’t see Living Story deliver that anytime soon.
Thing is, the expansion gave us all that at once (essentially), Living Story can easily be argued to only give us a fraction of any of those choices in the future and still not be “worth it” in some eyes. Even if July 1 gives us a Monk class, and 2 months later playable Tengu, we would still see more compare Factions to either or update, but neither both.
Though Factions was not my favorite, even the newest class addition they added I absolutely despised, Shadowfall was more what I loved. However, was still upset to this day those classes were, originally secluded to JUST those expansions.
The Marionette fight.
Seriously loved that, would love to see it return with reasons brought by the Aetherblades. World bosses like this should maintain, and maybe add to the future legendaries, where some stuff only drops from them when players exceed a certain goal in a certain time.
S1 however, just took long to really get started. And in turn ended abruptly, which is probably why many were very upset.
Either way, I go mining in Orr every day and I just think to myself.. Zhaitan is dead, why do I still see so many undead? Why is Orr still corrupt and uninhabitable?
Just cause a certain dragon no longer exists doesn’t mean all undead Risen grow wing and flutter away to the stars and the land grows increasingly green over night. Hell I wouldn’t say a year would mend that zone in the slightest. Pretty sure the undead will still carry out their master’s will without him, they ARE mindless drones, after all.
Though, there should be signs of EFFORTS being made to cleanse it. A fort stronghold build with new events of cleansing. somewhere. Just a small sign.
Yes, cause we all know VA in the launch release was better.
Logan and Ritlock couldn’t sound more sarcastically chummy when they were at each others throats.
And I am sure all the loopholes in Warcraft 3 were wrapped up at the end.
What Illidan was u to, where Deathwing was hiding, why Arthas chilled out in Northrend for YEARS after his change into the Lich King.
And lets not get started how each expansion wraps three loose ends up and opens four new ones.
That’s called progress in writing. Not everything is cut & dry in each season. Not even in TV.
Why the HELL is Ash Ketchum STILL ten?!
All I am seeing is what looks like a desperate effort to make her believable. Blow up and destroy enough, and we will take her seriously? No. There isn’t enough content in this game you can destroy, there aren’t enough likeable NPCs to murder, you just cant DO enough “bad” things to make Scarlet anything but ludicrous. You are destroying for nothing.
GG
Do you think her drilling, say, on the shore to avoid the ruins makes her any less/more villainous (or in your term, worth noting at all)?
Legitimate question, as in real life there is many eras we as people have destroyed. She just doesn’t care, even if she was a villain of some great stature, like a dragon, destroying the ruins into obliteration is going to happen if they, at any given time, wanted to destroy LA.
Many attempts have been prevented in our PS, and other events. This just happens to be the one to fall through the cracks and get through to LA.
Times change, cities get ruined, populations vanish, knowledge fades… Thus is the cruel reality how time handles all things. A-Net seems to want to reflect this, and I understand it very well.
At least they continue to keep some key places.
The issue is, look at the old, untouched content.
Maw is now zerged daily, Shadow Beast too. Did they make these fights with the intent on “training” us to zerg them? No, I highly doubt that. It’s just a mindset that happens when one comes in without prior knowledge and assists somehow by pressing buttons. Over time more come and do it, and in the end it is the player-side mentality that keeps this zerging afloat.
Aside from that note, this is an invasion-based event. Not once have I seen an MMO use an invasion of any kind that wasn’t zergy. WoW, City of Heroes, Ragnarok… This just seems to be one of those events that lends itself to the zerg. Not to say they can’t, but c’mon, the NPCs are practically zerging the city as well.
But I must say, it has been the most intense zergings I have been in, it’s a constant, unrelenting fight.
Why is it every patch has to require a zerg to play?
I guess it’s cool for everyone else, but personally I can’t even play this stuff. I’m on a university network, and my university hates zergs. I mean, I can’t even get skills off or talk in chat. Crazy lag. No, it’s not my frame rate.
Really getting nostalgic about Guild Wars 1 instances… :/
You know what funny, is anything that involves world-based content, even if they did their best to consult it into a divided structured system of phases, the players will find a way to zerg it. Cause it makes more in the game involved, and more chances for everyone to get loot. I doubt it was truly A-Net’s intentions for this update.
Marionette was a fine example, people were to respond to each Warden accordingly, the mechanics of GTFO-ing off red circles and black masses were there, the aiming from behind, the leading to its own bombs. All that were not zergy mechanics.
However, the more players wanted to play this world-based content, the zergier it got.
Now the double edged blade some from making things “instanced” for examples like this: It may alleviate the zerg, sure, then it turns into an invite only. Becomes exclusive few to those. Almost how the nature of the LF-Dungeon tool is responding now. I still haven’t had time to run the Arah story, and no one cares to come into a newbie-to-the-story’s dungeon often, leaving those who are waiting for a long time.
Not to mention they want to “change the world” with these content additions, meaning they want us to feel as if the world is changing on us all. Not just shown to those who can and those who can’t watch a cinematic and wish they experienced it.
Either way, there is pros and cons, and for their goal to reach the largest audience that will experience it, this method is the best way to go. Your experience may not be as grand to the idea, but hell… Maw, Shadow Beast and the like since launch of the game has become just as “zergy” as anything else, but we’re not somehow blaming the dev team for that slip-up, are we?
Why would they ever do that? Tengus are isolationist and don’t let anyone in. Why would they suddenly open their doors for refugees when they wouldn’t open them for people who might actually leave after coming in?
This isn’t to discount the idea. I think there is a lot of potential for the Tengu city and starter zone to open up. I just miss the logic behind this particular suggestion.
As I said in another topic;
_ Just because the Tengu are, by nature, isolationists doesn’t mean Scarlet may not pose a threat to them.
That wall may be a buffer to their lands as a whole. However, is Scarlet finds what she is looking for, that “thing” she may find may end up alarming Tengu as well. Where Scarlet may not pose a threat, whatever is under Lion’s Arch may potentially set them in motion against it.
Pretty sure if it’s a dragon/monster/demon/etc. that can shut down the very winds of the world and rot water, that would be a good time as any for Tengu to step up and go, “Awww hell no!”
Whether they be playable or not later (even if by means of “add-on” purchase through BL) remains to be seen, but I can see Tengu taking in some focus being that close to a threat larger than Scarlet’s personal army. _
So basically, this may not directly threaten the Tengu at first. However, they are the closest city that would be affected if Scarlet does find what she is looking for and it’s far more world-threatening than she.
Just because the Tengu are, by nature, isolationists doesn’t mean Scarlet may not pose a threat to them.

It was definitely part of the Nightmare Tower team’s plan that we would return to that map and show the progression of the cleanup efforts. I can’t say what the timetable is for that, as it’s mostly an environment art task, but I’ll try my best to keep it in the discussion when we’re talking about future content releases. :-)
This is interesting news, I do hope it’s not pert of the teams’ plans to revert it back completely to what it once was. It seems a wasted effort that a huge tower blows up without leaving some kind of permanent mark.
I would also like to see a small camp or outlet in a main bunker area hold a piece of the tower in some form with a plaque that talks about what has happened. Maybe even offer a chance to view the final sequence animation.
There is the theory that the Tengu were removed from the game as a playable race (deadlines or countless other reasons); which makes complete sense as the Dominion of Winds is perfectly located for a starting area. It’s also the most-requested race and I remember ANet saying “they were paying attention to the players’ requests for the next race.”
Now I wasn’t saying races became playable, but a new race overall helping lead the world of Tyria forward. We have races like Skritt, Hylek, Grawl and others that may never be playable, but several come about in key times in your personal story. Who’s to say this wouldn’t be one of those times.
Hell, another option they can pull is the new introduced race helps push some other race (like the Tengu) more into the limelight, and thus becoming playable at a later date.
And for expansions; That’s often the given fare for expansion content, yes. However, going to an old game NCSoft had as an example (City of Heroes); The new archetypes were added in the free updates, you had to unlock them of course. Who’s to say they do not attempt a similar practice with their cash-shop to fill in funds for the potential expansion down the road?
Not saying these are better ideas, just the options are indeed out there if the need arises.
I think the Living World should continue, but not as merely as a grand scale as we’re seeing them attempt.
Example: SAB is one of those Living World events that should exercise the periodic content that, when the Living World progresses, becomes a grander scale of an experience. The build up to the Giant Wurm would been nice addition as well, since it bares more to the world’s events as a whole.
The issue that the content given to us now is trying to be a grand-all thing that should be worked and loved more. Where the build-up to an experience seems to please the gamer more than the first week. These experiences are then fragmented and less enjoyed.
You say that " MMO fair tends to borderline the same monotonous grinding solely focusing on stories" well why in hell it has to be a monotonous grinding activity??
The grinding would be worthy if once again as you say “The new and current story arc, I will agree, feels out of place. Unless there is something pretty large behind it all”
but it doesn’t seem like that, it seems like an excuse to bring a giant robot boss and a worm just so you can grind a little bit more, end of it. Ok maybe now i’m just getting pessimistic, but, just my experience from last patches whithout any logical continuity (ALL OF THEM IMO).
I am not trumpeting SAB like others, but I do feel like the majority of the players who are praising feel this way for a reason. They enjoy that content cause it was so different outside the other fare we’ve gotten. Which is fine, but like you said, I would prefer it to be added in bits till it is eventually “complete” and Moto decides to release it, sub-world with exploration of a regular zone and all. However, I don’t think this should be priority.
And I liked the Molten Alliance arc cause it felt alive underneath it all. It felt like the thorned group became advantageous while we’re all fighting the Dragons, it felt like the world was expanding in the middle.
After the few arcs, it turns into this race of who’s more trouble, Elder Dragons or Scarlet’s thrown together army. One which doesn’t sound like it should be that huge, but as it is now, it feels that way. As I said before, it doesn’t seem like this arc has much behind it that is alluding to something bigger. Which makes it feel tacked on and not grown from the game.
And the Wurm is fine as it is, I am glad there is a “Open World Raid” that will essentially remain after this update, as it is just another type of experience out there. But I do hope the rewards would be continual and encourage players of all lengths of play keep coming back. However, I don’t think this tactic should be added willy-nilly in the future.
Of course there is a limit: Learning whether or not Braham likes ham
So….
Does Braham like ham?
This is now currently relevant to the story of Tyria.
I still remember the giant pink/purple crystal in the first zone of GW< found it in GW2 got me all a-fuzzy.
This is true, I didn’t forget about the interview. Not saying the end of Scarlet’s arc would reign in a new playable race at the start, but allude to them becoming forefront, and eventually helping them establish themselves, and eventually becoming playable. This could be very well work for anything new or old.
And that’s why I brought up Scarlet’s experiments, she created a new enemy race, who is to say the afterthought created something that was not in her scope at the time, perhaps the actions we as heroes took upon ourselves added just what was needed to form this new race that sides with us, and against the dragons?
This, I know, probably to some may appear as hogwash of sorts. But reading through some theorycrafter threads and the like (thank you to all those lore-hoarders, BTW), I wanted to separate my question in its own thread, as I can see this becoming something to talk about.
Now Scarlet doesn’t have much lore behind her, but the experiments and secrecy of her total goals may lead into interrupting progress of Elder Dragon confrontations. I can also see this may be her trying to find a way to gain strength over the dragons and Tyria herself.
What if her experiments brought about a forced intervening of a new race? What if these attacks on Tyria she has done led to making a new race come forth? What would you theorize they would be?
Existing, I would bet Dwarves would be forced to come back in some way, as I can see Scarlet focused on bringing her fight to the dragons, and attempting experiments on them as well, thus becoming a thorn in the side for everyone, and the Dwarves awaken, coming back to the battlefield. Thus throwing the Dragons back into the grand scope of what is at stake in Tyria.
Playable maybe, perhaps even as an in-shop purchase, or “mini-expansion” store add-on.
My choices, and this is only going by what is available currently in game, are as follows;
1. Dwarves
2. Tengu
3. Kodan
These are the ones I don’t naturally pick in favor of, but the ones that, with the storyline following, seem to play a key role in being playable later on.
SAB ISNT STORY. Its just some fun optional quest. And I bought this game to play GW2, not a game boy emulator.
This.
I understand that some people like SAB, but tbh it is wasting developers’ time that could be spent on something more significant – like writing a believable story, creating new zones and dungeons, actually exploring GW1+2 world. If I wanted to play a silly platform game, I would play it. Instead, I bought an RPG/adventure MMO.Totallly know that feel bro
You do know MMO fair tends to borderline the same monotonous grinding solely focusing on stories, right? SAB has been a nice break from that, and it only came out twice, like a breather from the stories around us. And it gave new mechanics to play with, as optional to the player, to experience. Something different to do in familiar ways, it is a refreshing break when needed. What I do not understand is why many feel compelled that this was shoved down our throats all year, declaring it some kind of kittenization on their goals.
MMOs are well more enjoyed when it has varied experiences like this. Not something along the line of the same experiences with each story following the Dragons and those that hunt them alone. SAB shows this, it shows not EVERY SINGLE SOUL is out there hunting Dragons, one Asura was still focused on making a interactive “game” for Tyria. That’s how MMO stories evolve, not just one linear goal with a set of folks and spearhead the entire story one direction.
The new and current story arc, I will agree, feels out of place. Unless there is something pretty large behind it all, it feels like it wants to be that annoying character in every RPG you cannot stand cause it just detracts from the goal at large. Why -IS- there a giant marionette mucking up the world, which is also apparently tied to a creator that somehow assassinated royals AND enslaved many races… That’s quite a bit of stuff happening that the Elder Dragons aren’t taking advantage of, or at least annoyed by. Something should have came around in the story now that would allude to something bigger, but hasn’t. Which makes us, the players, feel detached from Tyria’s grand scheme when we first entered. Instead we’re facing off what appears to be a Teen Titans story when we all came for Justice League. It’s a failure (not a big one, but one no less) of execution if they planned something bigger with Scarlet.
I think, based on the Elder Dragon, instances and zones are a perfect way to psyche people up for the fights. I don’t truly understand why everything MUST be instanced always, you cannot even find a good story dungeon team anymore without one planning to zerg it. However, I do understand the frustrations many players have with an open world raid. Though both have their ups and downs.
Another thing I would like to point out that irritates me; LW events alter the world itself, but limits the content in which can be enjoyed post-update.
For instance, the “dungeon” of Frost & Flame, I enjoyed it, it should have been flushed out more beyond a story of the month and kept around, with rare pre-reqs for rare gear/skins and so forth. Instead, it was restricted to little over a month and granted no casual time players to really enjoy. Make more of these “Events that will change the world forever” more than cosmetic. I like how the tower left a crater, but I want more than just looking at a giant hole in Kessex Hills and say, “Wow that must have been huge.”
Seriously, I understand some rewards should be limited to the event which it is tied to, but make more things more… Rewarding to the players that play the game, not just the ones that live it.
Now to your question: will we see a return of SAB? That’s not for me to say, but if it were to come back, what would people like to see from it? Harder/easier content? New world? More/no Moto story?
Or would you like future LW releases to cover other topics? Share your thoughts, but please keep it constructive. Thanks.
Honestly, SAB is a wonderful idea and direction of content to go with. I personally think the SAB should (eventually, at least) become its own separate zone/world/entity/etc within GW2. With a variety of different content difficulties for many that participate. Rewards are more colorful and amazing the harder one progresses.
Honestly, the “Worlds” within it are pretty fun dungeon like experiences, and would love to see a hub for each world as an open, explorable zone for those who enjoy it. There is plenty to work with there, and it should periodically be released with more content till its final state, then have Motto make it go “Live” for everyone on Tyria.
I don’t think this should become a monthly event as it grows, but each time it does you should eventually come closer to making it a permanent fixture to the universe.
Thanks for the feedback and support! Glad you all enjoy the encounter
Now they’ll remove it in a week’s time to ensure this encounter cannot be enjoyed any longer.
That also can be an issue as the first two months really just inched towards the new stuff. Which they explained was on purpose for a reason. Regardless, it just feels like in a month’s time Wayfarer and Diessa locals will not be citing anything Frost & Flame like if it never happened.
Which is a bad way to go about it, as we as players want more content to dig into, if any people left for many different reasons and came back in mid-May, they would feel as if the last three months have had nothing truly added accept maybe a few things in the Black Lion Trading Post.
I would love to see a developer talk about what will stay in some form or manner, assure that Frost & Flame left a mark on Tyria and how it will affect us going forward.
As mentioned in several developer posts and blogs on the site, Frost & Flame will be running down it’s course soon enough and many many many things will be removed in conjunction with it to make room for the next saga being made.
- Dynamic Events (Steam Vents, Village Raids, Portal Invasion) are being removed.
- Molten Facilities dungeon is being removed.
- Refugees and events related are being removed.
So I’m curious, with this ideal from A-Net wanting to make the events feel like it’s “Changing Tyria” I would like to know…. What -IS- staying? Besides the obvious ego-points that are achievements, what is staying in the world of Tyria forever to mark that the era of Frost & Flame has came and passed? Things like this shouldn’t be swept under a rug and forgotten, what will always be reminders for us?
(edited by Paraka.9724)
The new Molten Weapon Facilities dungeon will be available for a limited amount of time only.
Well why is that? You wanted to improve on the game and have a story that progesses and feels as if it’s tandem with the original Personal Story. Why should one vanish completely then? You did say you wanted to change Tyria forever, but how does this happen when the game “resets” every time a new arc appears?
Did you try SOB ? You know then it was written as joke i hope ‘’ Recommended 5 Players’’
You been missing the whole point, good for you if you like a big challenge or to party with a big group. Never thinking about those who doesnt. Selfish much ?
And stop trying to kiss Anet kitten lol like many other players that does
Yet demanding everything to be designed around solos play isn’t greedy at all? It’s an MMO, there is going to be things made for all types of people. If it was adhering to your personal beliefs, then it would not make group-friendly players happy as there is nothing that’s for them, unless it’s super-easy-moding solo content… Which then why is there a point in teams?
It’s like those who hate to see PvP updates when they want more PvE content, and vice-versa.
It’s aimed at all spectrums of the content of Living Story, the rest of it was soloable, and at least the dungeon in streamlined, easy, and quick.
So now that I got to experience each phase (for the most part) enough to sink my teeth into it and give a quick personal opinion.
Overall it’s a great idea, some plans felt like it just absolutely dragged on while giving us a taste of more events in it’s fashion. I liked that, added more things in those zones and filled little “voids” of wondering around with some things to do.
The ending phase with the dungeon was a neat idea. The issue I have with it; It’s only temporary! The Molten Facilities should be a nice basing point for permanent change from this Living Story, which brings me a question;
The Living Story was aimed to “change” Tyria (at least parts of it) forever. So now, at the end of this story, are we going to experience a reset of sorts when the Living Story is then concluded?
I don’t see why, the dungeon has the makings of a fine, easily accessible dungeon for all. A nice momento to the Living Story as a whole. Removing it feels like it contradicts leaving the main dungeons of old. If you want the feeling these two separate stories are running parallel to one another (said so in an interview), then why would one “end” so shortly as the others will constantly continue as they were. Then later that means the story never happened to those new to the game!
Look, I’ll understand the refusal for achievements and rewards within the dungeon post-event, as it was a drive to make it happen in the first place. However, this isn’t just a holiday dungeon, this one was supposedly affecting Tyria! Then as of the epilogue closes, Tyria is back to it;s normal self?
What will actually stay as a permanent token to the Living Story once it concludes? Anything at all, or just the titles and points one can bolster about?
Every major monthly update has had a wallpaper, so I have grown a monthly custom now to update my desktop to the most recent released wallpaper here (gave me a reason to freshen up my background).
But what’s this? No new one on the April release?! On one of the better updates?! What’s this tomfoolery!?
Fishing: No, fishing in all games are boring. It will be boring for GW2.
Have you played Rift?
Last I played (October of last year), fishing was still very popular, especially in the low level areas on both the Guardian and Defiant sides. At first it was a flood of 30+ people at the easy to access fishing areas, but after many people leveled and moved on, it still stayed popular as a social event. People started skipping nearby rifts because they were too busy fishing and chatting.
Doesn’t mean it would fly in GW2, because implementation is a big part of it, but not everyone finds it boring, and just because it is in a game, doesn’t automatically mean it is boring.
I was about to bring up Rift, cause I’m notorious for this action!
Thing is, fishing is only boring if it’s implemented the way most have. They can totally bring it into a more involving sense of play. Fishing itself is a skill, no one human being feels a twick on line and yank a fish out la-de-da like most MMOs phone in.
Make it reactive. Wait for a bit, tug on the line to see if you can coast a bigger fish to bite. Once bitten, make it responsive, fish starts yanking one way, use your directional keys to respond, fish plops out of water, use of the the skill given to ease the line before the tension snaps it. Make it involving, not just anything that’s a mere button.
Then top it off with a Fishing tourney bi-weekly event.
I’ve enjoying the newly added things (the few so far) of the current living story and I felt it would be nice to overhaul some new events that may be planned for future Living Stories.
With the Dynamic Events in the current one, we have steam vents going off and some invasions here and there. What I would like to see is an ever-growing chain of events in the next set. Using the DE that were added from Frost & Flame for an example.
Say the event starts with the vents blowing up in one update, it stays that way till the next major update, with becomes a group event for taking down a volatile elemental emerging from the vent locations. Giving more rewards. The third update would add a little bit of the Flame Legion and Dredge coming in to assist the elemental (as to pick off the players while they’re busy), in turn creates a third event where we are to follow the new heroes of Tyria to chase down a brigade of them at their front gates (or any stationed outpost) and knock them around. The final update would bring a new world boss that would serve as a avatar for the much bigger threat that is revolved around the story, a right hand if you will.
Leading all this up to a new loot chest with possible new skin specific for the events added during the updates.
If there is going to be a racing minigame ever it will be a chocobo race in Lion’s Arch… I mean Moa. It’s in the southeast corner of the map, it’s the only thing that makes sense. It would work like the Keg battle game in Hoelbrect
This is probably more likely to happen, but if they want to “preview” the brooms in the shop and how they look they can totally do this for them.
I say essentially make them one-in-the-same. Where you pick your Moas to ride on and race, and for those with a fear of avian sense of style, they offer a magic broom (as a joke) just to give that little extra. Both control the same.
I vote bottom of the bag in the text area. There is absolutely no need for them to be physical items, as they are now.
May I make a suggestion to further improve this idea (sorry for the delayed bumping)?
Instead of just placing them into the Collections System, which makes you do a few extra things like retrieving the currencies and depositing and vise versa to transfer them. Trion Worlds did something far more useful to their currencies within their game Rift. Instead of having a boatload of tokens (Like GW2 is rocking now), Rift got a rework and placed them all into their own tab under the character’s profile. I would suggest this method under the Hero tab in GW2, as it would be greatly beneficial to the player. Perhaps blend it with giving the player an option to choose what currencies he/she would see at the bottom of their Inventory tab.

Just a hint at what they did.
