i think there are cheaper ways to optimize maps, it is not normal that people with 800€ < pc can´t play properly. I know messing people with bad pc can trigger massive lag but in order to improve gaming experience reducing enviromental useless objects or map population could help people without investing much money.

Hi everyone, i´m not a new player but I started to play ranked spvp few days ago due to WvW extreme boredom. i played the first 10 matches got 6 victories 4 loses, got placed at bronze 3 surfing around the pvp interfaz saw my friend´s list w/l ratio. i was amazed how some players with pretty worse stats than others are better ranked. Now i have 20 victories 12 loses and got up to silver 1 I got a friend with 8 victories 9 loses and he is better ranked than me.

Is this all about the 10 first games streak or are other factors implied?

Anet should consider linking international servers with national servers… it makes sense since sPvP and open world people with different mother languages meet.

I understand that people want to speak in their own language, they can keep doing it.

Most of the words used to comunicate in chat are in english. I know spanish nomenclature are lightly different from international but don´t see major problem apart from salty people trashtalking.

Even consumables, sigil, runes effect get a line in combat log. also some attacks have only 1/4 second cast…

I don´t deny that the player could have used macro, but i have serious doubts about its efectiveness due to many times you have to change some sequences in order to avoid aegis, blocks and may need to interrupt the enemy.

It is way better a proper binding, fast fingers and knowing what to do in each moment.

If 10 eles could melt a 40 ppl zerg, I don´t wonder what a 40 ppl zerg could do to a 20 players… moreover, people talk about retaliation, Even funnier when triggering runes or traits that inflict conditions when being hit…

This also would bring back eternal funnel fights where zergs slowly lose stupid players who tried to emule Leroy Jenkins.

To introduce such change in game there should be taken into consideration multiple factor to avoid ruining game even more.

If a server rush such amount of golems probably has already cleared cannons and mortars previously. I agree that there should be a limited offensive siege to give chance to outnumbered servers to defend themselves properly.

If a server has their own bl full supplied t3 keeps can build 22 golems, being sneaky building them can easily rush the closest keep pretty fast if the enemy is not enough in numbers or is busy in other place.

Also agree that it is probably the smallest problem of WvW.

I gave up to fighting some classes since I won´t be able to catch them and if i try i would put all my skills on cd giving the enemy the chance to kill me easily.

I think the way to reduce the insanity of some mechanics is to give the stealth classes more revealed time when he/she strikes(it is 2-3 seconds atm). This would make bad players easier to kill and force them to make better decisitions and time better their strike and back.

I usually use Attack (ranger shout) when i face condi thief but is not very useful when the thief can jump away 3k distance till debuff expires. and I have wasted a valuable skill slot.

The dodge and hit mastery is simply ridiculous.

A border has much more influence over ppt than EBG so i don´t see the problem.

The problem is the annoying lag when a triple fight goes on.

Is the desert borderland which need a huge review, most people I have talked to hate that border.

I have been played Gw2 for 2 years and i ve never seen game emptier than now, so I don´t believe that any server is full.

Having the only spanish speech server closed only make potential new players to refuse to join the game. or, if they do by free accounts that won´t be used.

Unlinking a server and closing it means the absolute sink of a server.

Moreover, if Anet offers a product in spanish having a spanish server open is an obligation.

i don´t play for Baruch anymore and have no plans to going back.*

I don´t wanna waste my and your time explaining a typical day for a spanish person, but I can tell you that if guilds play their raids from 22-00 on is for the simple reason that is when they can gather most of their players. Due to work, studying, social life, family, whatever. Most people have dinner at 21.00 pm aprox, i know in other countries that happens at 19.00.

When i end my day at job at 22.00 Yes, that hour when many european are already going to bed I end my dinner by 22.45-23.00 I just want some relief playing till a bit late.

And like me many people. Don´t blame us for having a life please. Blame us for running away from battles, for smashing doors, but not for having a different daily schedule.

How long were Alpine Borderland travel times?

Actual bl travel times between Garri and Fire and Wind keeps are not long and could provide great fights if terrain wasn´t so broken we have to add too the shrines buff with those kitten gargoyles and blocking stones.

The problem comes when we talk about paths from respawn, they are simply annoying, If enemy just close wp (now is pretty easy) we find that walking around the map to find a battle is boring.

Try to time the run from the bottom left corner respawn to Air Keep inner and bottom right corner one to Fire.

I played 1 hour yesterday´s reset and we fought more than 30 mintues, that is fun, but this was possible due to both of enemies had keeps WP available most of the time if not we spend 75% running 25% fighting even knowing where the enemy is.

DBL could be amazing if this issue is fixed and provide wider terrains to big clashes.

Hi all,

This is a great thread. It’s constructive. We’re all reading it and referring to it in team discussions.

As we said in the AMA, our top internal priorities have been population balance and rewards. From this thread, your top five priorities are, in order:
1. Stability & skill balance
2. Fix or revert DBL
3. Rewards
4. Population balance
5. Scoring

Mo

1.- I think that stability stacking is better than an unstoppable blob smashing 1 but I agree that stability skills should last longer and have 1.33X or even 1.5 more stacks per skill. Cooldowns also should be revised. in order to avoid permabuff.

Skill balance should focus on avoiding one hit killing and condition burst damage, it is not fair to step a trap and die.

I also think that just like skills have limited targets, players should be receive a maximum amount of hits per second this will also prevent instant-death.

Create a maximun boon duration per skill to avoid prebuffing. No boon should be stacked longer than 1 minute, and others like stability or resistance not longer than 20 seconds.

2.- Clearly fix: I think old bls with new stuff (Autoupgrades, tier0 keeps with WP, etc) would be a massive failure, reworking new BL following many players criterium making easier to walk around the map, making it flatter removing unnecessary obstacles and giving north towers relevance again.

3.- Give more purposes for badges, so people don´t need to farm hours in pve to craft ascended gear. I think it could be possible to acquire account bounded Elonian Leather and other ascended materials by a nice amount of badges or reaching new levels.

I don´t want WvW becoming chest farming or boring farm maps where people dodge battles, just want WvW to be a sustainable game itself.

4.- It is the hardest thing in my opinion, this is a personal choice from each player I´d merge some of the less populated servers and leave 18 servers in EU. Letting this population join other server with same flag.

5.- i think the most unfair thing about actual scoring system is that empty borderlanes gives victories in MU, I´d rework it so losing a huge amount of points in a timezone don´t be critical to MU.

Just like a Tennis players earns points, games, sets and win match this could be worked same way:

Keep game mode 24/7
Split MU in 3 hours “sets” a set is won by getting highest score of their respective tics.

Each server earns 3, 2 and 1 point for set it doesn´t matter if they have scored 7k or 1k. This way ticking 600 all night won´t ruin MU because another server can catch de gap during rest of the day.

I think it is not fair to give other time zones less repercussion as it has been suggested.

lords are meant to be hard to kill to buy time for defenders to come to help not to kill a zerg while is busy fighting.

Doing as you suggest would reduce bosses to break defy bar and easy kill them, also making pvdoor easier.

Thanks for showing some interest.

1º Rework on borderlanes in order to make easier for people to walk around.
1.1: Remove all guild upgrades and buff that makes harder to move and give advantage on fighting, or at least only let them be used when overhelmed buff is on.
1.2 Remove Shrines and roadblocks.
1.3 WP should be able when keep is fortified or at least secured not at capping. Also Fire and Air WP should be used by whoever has the structure.
1.3 Develop faster ways to walk from east to west.
1.4 Give back north towers relevance.
1.5 Force people to activate upgrades don´t let a tower of an empty map get fortified.
1.6 Let me give you a glance of my ideal BL.

2º Reduce time of afk Kicking when map is full.
3º Remove all innecesary stuff from respawn, crafting workshop, , npcs, etc. Just need a repair npc and a merchant, with all stuff available, consumables, traps, siege bank, guild bank and Lion Merchant, all other npcs should be moved to a Mist lobby.
4º Give more purposes to WvW currency, so players can get food or ascended armor and weapons.
5º Change the long red names by server initials, rank in number, class and guild: for instance "Baruch Bay silver explorer [GWDS] BB 870 Guardian [GWDS]

Describe a typical hour for you in the Alpine Borderlands in the past. For example, What size of group were you running in? What kind of tasks did you run? What activities did you do?
I did everything, running in zerg, solo roam, taking camps, siege structures, splitting from zerg for ppt, scouting…

Compare your experience described above with a typical hour spent in Eternal Battlegrounds, if you went there at all. Does your style of play change between the 2 maps?
Since MU fight is dead now I am focusing on improving my poor fighting skills, EBG is the only way to do, BL are empty.

I have to walk too much to find some action.

Describe the nature of combat in the borderlands in the past. How have the new borderlands impacted this paradigm for you? What style or build changes might it cause? For example, knocking people off cliffs or into lava might play a more important role.
fighting has changed more due to new specs than terrain.

In your experience, compare the time it takes take a structure or objective here, then it did in the past. Can´t be compared are completely different situation, most of the times structures are empty, but if structure is strong defended is almost imposible to get into. Not only guild buffs, shield generators…

How is the loot and wxp for you compared to in the past? Will it be able to sustain whatever you are doing? Did it take a hit, or was it improved? If you are planning to unlock an elite specialization, do you think you were helped or hurt in these regards? Do you think you could pursue any other in-game goals just by playing WvW?
i can live in WvW with WvW but I can´t craft ascended gear with WvW rewards. or earn enough gold to buy gems.

How will the map change impact the long sessions (multiple hours) you spend in WvW? The problem is the lack of players who don´t like map, if a product don´t like must be changed.

It is not necessary to nerf damage or CC just limit the number of hits a player can take per second. This would introduce more variables on builds. And make game more tactic.

So you are saying you are not scaling the score? Really? Do you also understand that you are creating less variance within the scoring system? Do you understand what that means?
Well, just so you don’t repeat the same thing again, having less variance withing the scoring system reduces the chances of a team that is losing to catch up. This happens because you are reducing the amount of swing that can take place at any one time. Whether it happens by a few or many players, it needs to happen for the feeling of accomplishment. Not – I’ve been on for 3 hrs and we got 1 point.
Again the system is fine, teams need to take responsibility for the server they run on and recruit. Any limitations and nerfing will just reduce the pop.

I think I have shown just the opposite, how a server can catch another one despite having strong disadvantage on determined time zones.

I also think that thew way I suggest would promote events to win some “megatics” instead of having dead matches by tuesday. Servers could try to organize themselves to fight for megatics. It could also improve fights if a megatic is already decided, people can focus on enjoy some fights. Obviusly it depends from people fighting spirit.

If people had some motivation to play more time and fight for the glory of their servers I would agree with you, but this is not the case. The situation is people blaming other servers for nightcapping or even tryin to discriminate other hours. I also would agree with you if population weren´t disbalanced, but that´s the case Even My server is lacking population on night because of that. I don´t wanna be number one of a ranked of dead servers, i prefer be on tier 3 or 4 but with strong and active servers.

Most of us know that some server get an insane amount of points when maps are almost empty with a small crew, 10-15 players are enough to tic >400 during several hours, scoring 10k more than the other servers.

I only see one way to avoid that, and it is splitting Match ups on sets, like in tennis or Volleyball

Just an example:

Tic 15 minutes, just like it is atm.
Set, 3 hours= 12 tics, the server which has earned more “minipoints” scores 3, the 2nd 2 and the 3rd 1 point
MatchUp The match is won by the server who has earned more points, in case of tie The winner is decided by Killcount

This way it doesn´t matter if you are scoring 0 all night, because you still have a chance to recover if you are better than your enemy. This would also keep the tension or winning each set and would be more tactic, servers should decide if focus one server to prevent from earning points or just do pvdoor on the 3rd empty server.

It is just an example I think there will be many ways to manage scores.

Your suggestion will make even harder to recap structures when few people join the maps so they won´t be able to recover your own Garrison in 2 hours. even it is undefended.

All you are doing is scaling and averaging the score which has other consequences.

So Yes, its the same result.

Let me try to explain this again:

Example with today´s system:

time zone: 00.00-03.00 (695 ppt x 12 tics= 8.340) 250 kills for all servers Only 1 server has nice population others just few players

Server A earns 6.000 points (500 ppt) + 100 kills = 7.600 points Server A has more population fight worse than other enemies.
Server B earns 1200 points (100ppt)+ 90 kills = 1.290 points. Server B has less population but fights better almost get same kills than most populated server.
Server C earns 1.140 points (95ppt) + 60 kills = 1.200 points

time zone 15.00-18.00 (695 ppt x 12 tics= 8.340) 600 kills for all servers. population better balanced Server B and C has more population and server B fights better. A just struggles to defend.

Server A earns 1.800 points (150 ppt) + 120 kills. = 1.920 points.
Server B earns 3.600 points (300ppt) + 300 kills = 3.900 points.
Server C earns: 2.940 point (245 ppt) + 180 kills =3.120 points.

time zone 18.00-21.00 (695 ppt x 12 tics= 8.340) + 1.100 kills. All 3 servers are pretty similar in numbers but B is better than A and C.

Server A earns 2.400 points (200ppt)+ 280 kills= 2.680 points.
Server B earns 3.000 (250ppt) + 500 kills = 3.500 points.
Server C earns 2.940 (245ppt + 320 kills 3.260

Server A earns 7.600+ 1920+2.680 = 12.200
Server B earns 1.200+ 3.900+3.500 = 8.600
Server C earns 1.200+3.120+3.260= 7.580

The way I suggest the same MU would end:

1st Server—> B 8 points (2 megatics being 1st and 1 being 2nd)
2nd —>Server C 5 points (2 megatics being 2nd and 1 being 3rd) + 560 kills.
3rd —>Server A 5 points (2 megatics being 3rd 1 megatic being 1st) + 500 kills.

I think there are several differences.

Since it will probably be some tie it would be necessary to take a secondary score based on kills or total ppt.

Just close their Garrison WP and you will buy much more time for your team. Or slow them attacking them when they run back you will usually meet solo players or small groups.

I would agree side keeps WP can be held by whoever hold the keep, fortified. But Garrison should be only available by BL server.

As a Baruch player I don´t get the point of this thread:

I know our server has got several players who can´t provide nice fights but you must take into consideration that we are

1.- If you care about ppt and wanna be top just do it, we know that German servers uses to wake up at 4am for pvdoor, we have suffered this long time from Elona and Riverside.
2.- If you don´t give a kitten about points why do you even complain?

3- if you care about the fights, why dont you challenge Baruch guilds you may get a surprise. Instead of that you go on on our borderlane with a bunch of people with no tag and a small squad with few people who don´t want to / don´t like to fight.

4.- If you want to get nice fights from Baruch on reset, please, whisper me and I will gladly tell you where our main force is, our BL and EBG won´t provide nice battles since map slot are ocupped by people without party or squad and no TS. We usually make a fighter squad who looks for battles but can´t enter Baruch bl or EBG due to queue.

Give Baruch a hard time and will improve and provide better fights and more fun. Leave them free pvdoor and you will bore all week just like we do. or Do you think we enjoy fighting air?

If i am not wrong WP contest triggers whenever a guard go in combat, that is simply silly, some patrols get in combat if a Dolyak is being attacked by bats or any monster..

This makes no sense, Defendng event should be triggered when a structure are under attack gates or walls getting damage and the event should stop if the damage stops.

And what would happen if some blob leaves a map and the other one remains?

Many people wouldn´t even be able to join WvW to purchase items in npc so first of all All respawn stuff should be moved to another place.

I agree that population disbalance must be fixed, but not this way for sure.

Since players who paid for HoT can have this prerogative available in all pve enviroment I think WvW needs also this privilege. It´s just a small change that won´t hurt anybody and won´t provide any real advantage. I am not asking for gliding all over WvW, just want to focus on fighting not if I am missing some loot from if I die battling or was too focused smashing keyboard to survive.

I think some people would even buy HoT if they don´t need to pick up loot.

We also are forgetting about the insane amount of gold needed to guilds now. I would be more than happy if I could get more stuff related to guild improvement or proper WvW such as food (i am talking about meta food not about magic find one -.-) even if it is account bounded.

I agree with most of the statements at first post, so I will add one more:

I don´t get the utility of having a WP that can be closed all time, doesn´t makes sense. Waypoints should be places far awy the lords of the keeps and in a safe place so there is no chance to get into the fight in the following second you waypointed.

Let WP open just like old BL and place them far from hot spots.

I think, Shrines buffs are crap, they can be used as WP if the owner of the keep hold them, some rework would be needed to avoid being massacred just the second the player teleports.

I think the issue is not the scenario, but the mechanics asociated: If old bl are brought back with all new stuff it would be a major failure. I think some rework is needed over new map, remove or rework many useless elements which only are nuissances in order to fight: Shrine buffs, guild upgrades, barricades and also make the map little flatter. I´m there to fight not to perform a jumping puzzle.

Also Oasis should be changed, i think some sort of king of the mountain event where many players could collide would be great.

Let me explain it better: wait that’s what I have been doing in my past post.

pt1.- a war isn’t a tennis or Volleyball.
I would say a gvg is a tennis or Volleyball but not wvw.

pt2- 10-15 are capping the kitten out of wvw at night but yeah they are doing to help their server at night. remember it’s a war so you can’t tell the opponent not to attack at night cuz you need sleep.

p3-3 hours thingy will kill wvw even more , remember how much people hate the timing issue in new hot maps. last thing we need in wvw is timer on maps/events

p4- you guys are simply want wvw to be like this : I’m strong at fighting so I’ll set up time for myself & give weaker fighter server no chance to get point back.
in a war doesn’t matter how much weapon you have it’s when to use it so let non prime timer player do their thing & you do yours.

p5-pvdoor-ing isn’t bad thing . it is game mechanics & who does pvdo is doing exactly the game rules are.

p6- you guys are saying you play for 3 hours at prime time & accomplish few thousand point & then goto sleep & not let others play at other time.

p7 – what if the 3 hours low point is set to your prime time? & high point at other time? if you didn’t consider that you are just crying cuz you need to sleep.

—even if I don’t consider the other time zone in server or say all the players are playing from same time zone as you if they are playing at night , they are working harder than you to stay awake at night & trying to help their server win.

so stop with forum qq-ing & go back to wvw where it matters.

6&7 It wouldn´t be fair if some time zones has less repercussion over the final score. That´s why I´m trying to find a fairer way to settle score.

Thank you, that is a real answer without any hidden agenda. I can understand this, it will take quiet a while

Let me explain it better:

Most of us know that some server get an insane amount of points when maps are almost empty with a small crew, 10-15 players are enough to tic >400 during several hours, scoring 10k more than the other servers.

I only see one way to avoid that, and it is splitting Match ups on sets, like in tennis or Volleyball

Just an example:

Tic 15 minutes, just like it is atm.
Set, 3 hours= 12 tics, the server which has earned more “minipoints” scores 3, the 2nd 2 and the 3rd 1 point
MatchUp The match is won by the server who has earned more points, in case of tie The winner is decided by Killcount

This way it doesn´t matter if you are scoring 0 all night, because you still have a chance to recover if you are better than your enemy. This would also keep the tension or winning each set and would be more tactic, servers should decide if focus one server to prevent from earning points or just do pvdoor on the 3rd empty server.

It is just an example I think there will be many ways to manage scores.

Rewards were already improved, before HoT pure WvW players who spend money on siege and food struggled to have gold, i had to do pve just to craft ascended gear, now siege is easier to purchase, upgrading territories are free… playing WvW is cheaper than before. I think this is the way it should be make WvW less expensive to play just like sPvP. For example it would be great if we could get ascended armor.

I also think that the highest rewards should be given to people who play all game modes not only chinofarming tons of gold in pve.
