Had long loading screens; frame rates of 11-15 fps; ping of 300-400.
Bottomline : Population balancing is done badly in T1 N.A.
With the Alpine Maps, you spent more time playing and engaging in something. There were spectacular 3 way fights, standoffs, sneaky ninja-captures.
The current Deserted Borderlands: you waste time navigating stretches of nothing, and make your way up or down and can’t reach your group/objectives in time, lots of annoying collision detection running in place against bushes, or like 3" steps.
Alpine Borderland Maps back please. I never minded the Skritt, Wolves and Centaurs therein.
Please help, I can’t play with my friends, this is certainly a widespread issue now.
As for the Locate Mouse issue, this seems to help me a bit:
I use the Control Panel/Mouse Prop/Visibility/Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key.
You get the concentric rings indicator when you press CTRl in GW2.
Of course, not as good as having a bigger Pointer outright.
However, DO NOT use Display Pointer Trails: my pointer completely disappears in GW2
I hope the game can be more 4K friendly soon, in terms of having an even larger option for Text and the User Interface.
My secondary monitor is 1920×1080. When I reduce my GW2 to run 2560×1600 on my main monitor, the other monitor scrunches certain displays into half, such as Teamspeak.
I’m Asian and not the least offended by the so-called amalgation of Eastern Cultures in Cantha. Bring it!
No lag for me / Singapore / Wired / Fighting for Yak’s Bend / Happy.
Same problem too. Now in, but severe lag. Not going to play.
Siege Towers, Ladders and Grappling Hooks that you can use and conversely set fire to, push off and cause enemies on them to suffer damage from falls.
No AOE caps, more Mayhem.
As a homage to one of my favourite films: UP.
- Carl Fredricksen’s Cane/Walker with the 4 Tennis balls, for us gerrys. Either as a Mace, Rifle skin, but preferably a Staff.
- Ellie’s scrapbook as a backpack (…so bittersweet…)
I like the Elaine Benes dance in Guild Wars 1 for the Elementalist class :

Well after two years, perhaps it isn’t compelling anymore. Maybe not enough new features are forthcoming in WvW, or desired fixes are ever bearing fruit.
Again; new and shiny competition to try out. No subscription. Open world PvP, sandbox, sea-battles, has Trinity classes though (but you needn’t dungeon if you don’t wish to.)
In the light of these, maybe some gamers will have their interests piqued and you know, download 21+Gb and apportion their playtimes.
If it helps, I have the same generation of i7-2600 as the OP.
GPU: AMD7950 with 3Gb on a single screen 1920×1080, almost all Ultra settings
8Gb RAM
The game runs from my SSD Intel 530,
No problems with mine so I’d say the OP’s CPU is not the bottleneck.
PC freezes up for me too. Occurs anywhere, even with few character models.
Doesn’t happen with other games I play (Titanfall, Dark Souls2, Metro Light.)
OS: Windows 7 64bit
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-2600K CPU @ 3.4GHz
RAM: 8 GB
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7950
Catalyst Version: 14.4
Instanced raiding with a raid interface, for say 20 to 30+ players
Back then, I had enjoyed Lotro’s The Rift, and classic WoW’s Zul’Gurub raids, the episodic progression and criss-crossing paths within, with weekly resets. And epic loot attainable by both raid tokens, and to a lesser extent as random drops for individuals.
Bog Otter makes a very good case of why instanced raiding is needed for the 3-Headed wurm etc on his youtube channel. Do see as he explains calmly in a 20min video : " Tyria Talk #60 – Thoughts on the Jungle Wurm – Guild Wars 2 "
Same goes for WvW.
We need a Raid Interface badly, to organise teams/groups of 5 or 6 or more, and also various icons for target marking. This is for Guild Events and WvW.
And also instanced raiding.
It’d be nice to have message notifications of friends or guildies logging on or off too.
Thank You’s for the well-meaning sentiments expressed by Gallows and ShinjoNaomi.
I also applaud the Collaborative Development Initiative by Chris Whiteside and company.
In face-to-face focus group sessions, I believe participants are wont to be less adversarial. Not the same when one invites the feedback and opinions from a large group of anonymous individuals.
Thus far, the team has been handling this with great diplomacy and aplomb. If they pull this off, they will have attained a valuable set of ideas and initiatives to build and sustain a comparative advantage over the competition.
1) Armour toggle for 2 or 3 sets (when out of combat).
2) A Raid interface to see multiple parties for during either Guild Events or WvW.
3) Less ‘cartoony’ villains, more sinister ones, almost borderline ‘parental guidance needed’, I don’t mean that they have to be disturbing or controversial, but no more Jumping Jellos or Blob type of enemies or bosses.
That’s a nice video with pleasant, charming folk. I like it. Quite amusing and clever to co-relate game terms with real-life. (The actress is yummy)
Yes, BuyToPlay, no subscriptions for me. I’m not strong-armed to buy any Gems, the choice is all mine.
So, for me it’s the Timberline one, up on top, had to re-do it again. Perhaps due to having a crowd during the first instance, or was on another toon pre-patch.
I agree with the opening post and would love to have an option : either off/on or a slider please. Thanks.
Same boat as xlion, I’m glad it’s been brought up, in a nice manner too by the way.
I think it is inevitable that content has to be gated.
I’m fine if it’s through Attunement quest pre-requisites, perhaps like Molten Core’s, or for protection against the Mursaat’s Spectral Agony etc.
Though I am not fine with the situation with LOTRO’s Radiance gear, where you had to report your numbers tally to party members.
I do miss the Mursaat : )
On the Charr starter zones, it seems empty and desolate, and if there are too many foes/mobs in high concentration, some areas become almost impossible to pass. Occasionally there may be some named NPC (not of any Dynamic Event), which I could tag along and support along with, this aspect helped.
I wonder if the game mechanic can perhaps sense low player population and spawn more of these ‘helpers’.
My Avatar will never ever be female.
I have noted that in recent years more men are playing as female characters, especially as Human ones, as the opening poster said. So I always assume their owners are male until proven otherwise.
Thanks for highlighting this issue Vorpal. I agree that they have made it worse.
That is good news. Thanks!
On a similar note, I was thinking about GW1’s Ascension ‘Rite" where one battled one’s own Doppleganger one-on-one. You know, where your double has the exact same build and skillsets, albeit with a lot more health, and Blocking and Skill Interrupts were paramount.
That was insane, wickedly exciting and most memorable.
It’d be good to have that here too. Please.
Me! Are there any figurines on sale?
Criticisms can be very Valuable feedback. Better than silence and then disappearing customers, or in this Buy-To-Play case, non-playing customers.
I remember the forum in LOTRO, about those who vehemently shot down any form of negative feedback from others, and then it sort of went quiet and many just didn’t bother any more.
Perhaps, some do not put it across in a constructive manner, but there could be gems and useful information in amongst that.
I agree for I can’t see the ‘boss’ at all whether playing range or melee.
I don’t have frame rates problems.
When many players’ effects crowd the target, it is impossible to see the animation, it’s just a blur of light effects and damage numbers.
Would be better if we have the option to tone it up or down.
