It’s unfair because someone doesn’t have a mic which he could buy for a few bucks? Is it also unfair that some people have better PCs and higher fps? Is it unfair that an old toaster laptop runs the game 10 fps in PvP while others have high end PCs?

If a soloQ team agree to use voip for more effective teamplay, then they’re better teamplayers.

Also, the food is -40% condi duration, which is still crazy when paired with Melandru (-25%) and the -33% control effects trait for a -98% total.

I wonder why people keep saying warriors are almost immune to conditions because of the food, other players can use food too. Any class has access to the food, also condition duration food. So let’s say some condi necro uses Rare veggie pizza for +40% condition duration, +30% condition duration from a trait line and +10% from any rune set with condition duration. That’s +80% condition duration. So if the warrior gets -98% condition duration, it’s -18% from the original value.

Stealth Should be the Reward

PistolWraith.6732

I play a Thief as my main now because of the massive advantage that stealth gives me in PvP and in PvE. I get too hurt in PvE? Pop on an everlasting stealth and let my health regenerate while my enemies’ health doesn’t regenerate. I see an enemy in PvP? Pop on a stealth and chase them down, hurt them significantly, and if they decide to fight back, I pop on another stealth and stab them in the back.

Anet seriously needs to learn how to balance classes though. Rangers/Engineers are in the trashcan at the moment because their damage is so terrible. I kind of gave up on Rangers since Guild Wars 1. I played a Ranger, complained multiple times that it needed a damage boost, and never received a single response back. Turns out that I shouldn’t have just left my Ranger. I should’ve just left the game.

Please do left the game. That would make you stop spreading misinformation. The guys who made a new record in CoF speed run were running a ranger. But because people at the forums say ranger damage is bad, it has to be bad? If you run low damage builds or just plain bad builds, of course ranger damage is bad.

The main reason people seem to think conditions are weak is the condition cap which will negate a lot of the damages in larger boss fights and some dungeons.

I’ll just copy/paste this here. It’s Xeph’s comments after they won the gw2pro.com tournament with dual necro comp:

Necro damage is completely out of control, its very hard to l2p against such a massive amount of condi’s.
I think that necro needs to be toned down, its sad but true, if only you could hear our ts during those matches, we had no structure or strat, we just asked our necro’s to kill things and we would assist where possible.

well you’re refering to a mere “marketing trick”. So your point is invalid.

The “marketing trick” doesn’t make his original argument any less valid. He said that they were able to win without proper tactics because the necros had so easy time killing the enemies.

Twice in a row tPvP against same enemy premade with pug team. Queuing for third one now, having so much fun.

Currently biggest issue in tPvP is the queue. It won’t attract new players and keeps playerbase small when new players try tournaments and are stomped by more experienced premades.

So burst damage decides the best 1v1 class? The only class which is as good in 1v1 as an elementalist is mesmer with bad mobility, bad sustain and bad aoe.

PistolWraith.6732

Ok for starters here is this DISCLAIMER : I am not talking about pve and am just going to ignore anyone who thinks LB or Rifle are core warrior weapons.

Movement
-The primary problems with warrior movement lies on both what we can do and what we can do to the enemy

1. Passive movement speed:
Why do we, as a primarily melee class, have no passive movement speed buffs? Our only passive buff is from a trait that gives us 10%*(useless and costly).

I mean what is the reason we do not have one and almost every other range profession does? We have to be within melee range for 90% of our skills to hit/do damage, its just beyond me that we don’t have the this. What could have possibly been the mindset?
“Oh hey lets give range more passive movement speed than warrior-melee, haha, that totally won’t mess up the warriors on top of slows/cc being aoe/spammable for every range!.”

This bit is hilarious. Warrior trait gives 10% movement speed? Well that’s in and out of combat. Ranged get 25% OUT of combat. Hit them with anything and you run 10% faster than they do. Don’t see the problem, you get them in combat, use GS 5 ability, boom, up close and personal, you now run 10% faster than they do and should not be able to get away from you unless they slow you and dodge away etc, by which time you can whirlwind or charge to them yet again.

Necros, eles, rangers and thieves have 25% movespeed buff and they don’t lose it in combat.

Show me the math where a warrior deals 35k damage with 100b. Such numbers are not realistic and only exist in situations built about that warrior with 25 might and 25 vulnerablity on the target.

Warrior burst damage is indeed strongest in the game but still highly overrated.

Hey,

thanks for your comments everybody. I know my play could still use some improvement so feel free to give me more tips, I’ll try using DS and the 2 of it more!

I agree that in multiple situations an enemy can run away. But that isn’t that big a problem since they can’t kill you if they’re running away.

Here’s the link to my build. It’s pretty standard condition build. I also wrote a short guide(?) explaining my decisions on choosing traits and skills. I hope you enjoy it.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNAW7YjMah7tbyb87JApCPH9g4gTm6R5pfOA;TsAAzCpoay0koJbTumkNtqYUxeBA

Weapons:

I go staff for obvious reasons. It has huge AoEs, good conditions, superb condition removal/transfer and AoE fear. All that with huge range is almost a must pick for every necromancer build.
Scepter + dagger for second set provide the overall strongest conditions and decent range. Autoattack chain with bleed/poison stacking and another condition transfer is really good. Also the dagger 5 weaknes is a strong condition which many players overlook.

Slot skills:

Consume conditions is overall the best healing ability for necromancer and most players tend to pick it. With your condition transfers you will win most fights against other condition based specs.

I take Spectral Walk over Signet of the Locust for many reasons. I see very many WvW necros running Locust, which is an inferior choice in my opinion. Locust gives you more speed over larger timespan, whereas Spectral Walk gives you immediate 35% speed boost when you need it. Locust active is completely worthless in almost every situation, and if you use it, you will have no speed boost for 60 seconds. What is best with Spectral Walk is the fact that it gives you TWO stun breakers. The spectral effect also gives you more death shroud and increases your survivability. The second activation gives you an opportunity to distract your opponent. I think overall in fights Spectral Walk is WAY better than Locust, so I usually use Locust for traveling and switch it off whenever I see an enemy.
Epidemic is the greatest of all necromancer spells. It doesn’t give you anything in 1v1 situations, but in a group setting or 1v2 it will destroy everything if you time it properly.
Corrupt Boon is the reason a necromancer can 1v1 against bunker/boon builds. It’s also pretty simple to use: watch the enemy boons and conditions, if he has a lot of boons, you can immediately destroy him. Very strong spell overall and makes necromancer a strong debuffer.

Plague is a bit like epidemic. It’s not very strong in 1v1 situations but gives you the possibility to survive against multiple enemies with the blind. Also gives stability for 20 seconds against heavy control.

Traits:

30 in Curses is pretty obvious in a condition based spec. I take Hemophilia(II) because the spec will inflict bleeding all the time. Terror(VI) is really good with Master of Terror(Soul Reaping IX) making your fears deal a lot of damage. Lingering Curse(XI) makes scepter overall stronger.
10 in Death Magic gives you Greater Marks(II) which makes staff AoEs easier to land and make them hit more enemies. This is a must choice with staff.
30 in Soul Reaping is for making death shroud more durable and giving the spec some more utility. Path of Midnight(III) gives you the DS fear more often and the terror traits will make you able to nuke an enemy down during the double fear while the other conditions tick.
Foot in the Grave(XI) is a not-so-optimal choice but I like it. It will give you stability in situations where you will be targeted with CC(like hammer attacks) and you have no endurance left. It also makes stomping enemies easier. This can be switched to Soul Marks(X) to give you even more life force. Usually in WvW I prefer Foot in the Grave because you can recharge your life force from the environmental creatures.

Runes and signets:

I use Sigil of Superior Earth in both weapon sets. With it you can quickly stack a huge amounts of bleeding on an enemy and then fear him not letting him to cleanse the bleeding. I think Geomancy sigil which many necromancers use fits better in PvP where you actually fight in close range on a point.
Sigil of Superior Corruption gives you huge damage boost when stacked.
I use Superior Rune of Undead in all armor pieces. Because I use rabid gear, the rune will give nice amount of additional condition damage.

Gear:

I use rabid gear. The precision allows you to proc even more bleeds, condition damage is damage and toughness lets me survive while the conditions are doing damage. The survivability also gives me more time to recharge death shroud and use it multiple times.

Consumables:

Don’t forget about the food! Rare veggie pizza is just crazy. It gives you 40% condition duration which also applies for fears, chill and cripple. With this food you won’t need any other condition duration.
Master Tuning Crystal gives you a bit more damage which is always good.

Hello,

I’ve been reading necromancer forums for a while. A big part of the necro community seem to find necros an overall weak profession. People also keep telling necromancer is really weak 1v1 fighter and WvW roamer. I really disagree with those people: I think necromancer is one of the strongest PvP professions. I think their group fighting power via greater marks and epidemic is best of all professions.

It’s true that necromancer lacks good mobility and escaping tricks which, however, doesn’t make necromancer weak in 1v1 battles. Necromancer can face any other profession in 1v1 and win. Necromancer is really good against the best WvW roaming classes, elementalist and thief.

Here’s a video containing some of my recent 1v1 fights in WvW. I haven’t included beating under 80 level players or easy kills but tried to choose the most interesting fights against decent opponents of different professions.

I hope you enjoy the video and don’t hesitate to give me feedback or leave some comments!

I’ve been reading threads similar to this one quite a bit lately. There is a large amount of people who claim having “only” 10 skills is one of the main reasons the combat system is shallow in their opinion. As a long-time League of Legends player I have to disagree.

In LoL, every playable champion has 1 passive skill, 4 normal skills and 2 switchable summoner spells. Despite having so little spells for every champion, LoL is the most succesful e-sport at the moment. You can search for a League tournament match with good shoutcasting and try to figure out if the combat system there is shallow or not.
