your impending death/ boyscout(badge collecting)
nerf was needed. its only balanced in 1v1 situations and in any kind of group pvp it ranged from significantly loop siding a fight to complete and utter zone denial. now a 50% flat nerf to damage wasn’t a good fix, limiting stacks and/or duration would have been a better route.
Just throwing the idea out here.
It seems to me that having the ballista cost less supply would alleviate some of the player concerns with zerg ball mentality and AoE caps while having limited impact in other areas of the game.
supply is a quasi-finite resource so:
- no numbers based advantage(and in an unorganized zergs can even be a hinderance)
- gives advantage to the defender due to smaller need in ground play.
Ballista
- much higher aoe cap
- long range
- low damage on forts(meaning an increase in the number of ballistas on the map will have limited to no impact on aggressive fort captures).
- line of sight style targeting(meaning it won’t give defenders too much power while defending structures…via firing over the wall etc.)
If the supply cost was reduced to say 15. it would enable 2 people(or one person with a upgraded camp/wvw skill) to set them up more easily in the open field and choke points which in turn would:
-enable smaller groups to defend against larger groups successfully, without totally making the zerg mentality completely useless.
- spread groups out limiting the effectiveness of the support heavy flavor of the month classes in turn enabling more diverse play.
- benefit smart play and create resource management aspects to the game
- make the new abilities and guild buffs more meaningful.
- create a better gold/badge sink(and we know how anet loves those)
like i said, just throwing an idea out there….discuss.

quickness in general was nerfed because it trivialized multiple aspects of the game. sigil of rage is under utilized because its quasi RNG in combat situations(the patch just made a bad sigil worse that is all…the alternatives still exsist).

Good luck finding a group to do CoF story mode in order to unlock explorable mode. Currently gw2lfg has 45 groups for exp mode, and 3 for story. Oh, except 2 of those 3 story modes are actually for exp mode, if you read the comment, they’ve just been entered by someone too stupid to pick the right option from the dropdown.
and i fail to see the problem, that means at least 47 people have the ability to unlock the explore mode FOR you. its funny you calling people stupid when you haven’t realized that only ONE person needs to have completed the story.
Problem is, even high hit rate attacks have several weaknesses, and the thing is, HHR attacks like Pistol Whip would heal about the same, because you would still get 2 procs from the attacks, same with Unload.
So its kind of a nerf, except not really because its healing for about the same.
except its a huge nerf to the off specs like the deathblossom dodge/heal builds and pve p/p builds. not to mention it procs off cantrops ticks and dagger storm which would be nerf to a thiefs aoe ability in wvw and pve.
tbh i think the current malice is fine. its good for some specs and bad for other….this screams a balanced skill.

If your after rares and exos your wasting your time with MF. 300% of stupid low is still stupid low. thats not even considering DR.
you’ll see a noticable amount of more blues and greens with the mf gear, but even then it will take awhile to get returns.

It would neat if you could merge European and American servers together to make 17 tiers. Yes, there will be an issues when it comes to time zones and some other things. But still battles will be more epic and you will play a variety of servers each week.
I don’t understand why this bad idea keeps coming up since ANet has already pointed out the increased lag that would occur if they did that. Packets that have to travel further take longer to do so because they almost always have to be received and forwarded by more intermediate servers … some of which may have their own temporary bottlenecks. Time zones aren’t the issue … lag is.
that could be fixed by splitting the bl between the timezones. 12 hours on a NA server and 12 hours on a paired EU server then combine the points. meaning it will be lag free during the timezone primetimes and the only people that will be negatively effected is the small group of off hour players.

Who cares if the jump puzzle awards siege and badges of honor. You are aware that even people who are not interested in PvP or WvW still need those badges for their legendary weapon right?
Basically those that sit and camp the jump puzzle for kills have no skill. None whatsoever. They wait for the opportune moment to jump somebody while the person is merely trying to mind their own business. There’s no other way for these poor people to farm their badges other then to form a small party and take out single players.
And the fact that they will /laugh or something like that after they kill you is a clear indicator that they are doing it merely to aggravate you (trolls).
Personally, I find that funny since Anet has gone to such great lengths to try to make it impossible to offend players in the game by disallowing all sorts of names and banning tons of players for language, yet they leave in little commands like /laugh and put jumping puzzles in WvW areas which the developers knew would do nothing but make players upset.
its not legendary if you pve for your pvp badges. I know its done regularly in dungeons but us WvWers don’t take kindly to people trying to take shortcuts through content to obtain their badges. earn them the correct way via participating and not taking up room, or face the consequences….simple as that.

it would help, the magic number seems to be 1600 rare swords, now with exos your odds per forge would be higher. the question is a time vs money thing.
why not just guest on a smaller pop server yourself. JQ and most of the t2-3 servers have healthy pve pops still.

no you have the option of spending thousands of gold to unlock it via buying influence(note this will only be on the 1 server as well). the bounties have been completed with less then 10 skilled players.

I have a problem I just purchased Guild Wars about 2 hours ago and just finished downloading it. I’m trying to locate my friends server but its late and I can’t get a hold of him. (Want to play tonight not in like 12 or so hours) Any way of finding him I know his in-game name but that’s it. Also noticed the you can only play one server don’t want to screw myself over and not be able to play…

you are indeed limited to one server and transfers are NOT free, so you should wait the 12 hours.(assuming you want to world vs world at all that is).

It is neither. It just takes time to build these items and there is a huge amount of stuff on our list of things to do. We aren’t done adding stat combos. We will continue to add them as we have time to do so. With this batch, we wanted to even out the spread of primary stats and we already had a lot of stats with Power or Condition Damage as primary (more than any other, in fact), but I’ll be sure to get Valkyrie and Carrion into the next batch.
Does anet really have so little control over there own game. i mean we aren’t even talking new item models here. just a icon that could realistically be a recycled old one with a new name and stat weights that combinations like valk already have a basis in game to build off of, as well as existing formulas. where in the process is it that time consuming for coding in items with no game model. i mean hell you managed to fix the glowy effects on most of the items you broke within 2 hours.

This type of artificial gating is the norm in F2P mmos. it allows the developer to take longer between content additions while keeping the player base busy.
it has nothing to do with forcing guild size or “fair” acquisition rate. Its about getting people to use the gem shop(gold—> influence), minimizing the amount of free content being given away, and keeping people interested in buying an expansion.

I may not be able to speak for my whole server. But I know I hear the same gripe from just about everyone. Fergusons Crossing is fed up being pitted against Sorrows Furnace. We are lightly populated Server and they are a highly populated server. Not only should that be enough to change up the rosters. But to make it worse (and no fault on Arenanet for this part) They seem to be a server that goes on WvW a lot while our server seems to be mostly PvE. So you have not only does there over all server out number us by a lot. The WvW is even worse. Should you not have some sort of algorithm program that checks the numbers of active players per server, which you have that part done, then pits servers against other servers that are close to the same numbers. This would then fix big servers just kitten us little guys. And would then mix up who you are against from time to time as the numbers flux.
If you are either in FC, then you know what I mean, or are on another server in the same boat, like Eredon Terrace. Make a comment stand up. Get Arenanet to fix this.
A-net did fix it, they put in server transfers. paying to play in the WvW environment your happy with is the anet business model. you didnt think they stoped free transfer because the player based asked for it did you?
um its not, everything can be completed by casuals
i did it mostly for my first character. its really fast if you hit PvDoor hours on a dominate server, and is extremely slow if your on the losing end. also anet removed the experience gain from escorting yaks which as the above poster says makes it hard to level at first and easier once you get better gear.
AOE target limits are slipshod and arbitrary, they should be totally removed and replaced with dynamic scaling: i.e. an AOE damage spell will do less damage to each target affected as more targets are hit, but the spell will still hit all the targets. Simple and straightforward does it best.
this or increase the limit and power for combo fields to promote skillful play would be acceptable.
o and remove downed status
Ranking has never been about better play and always been based around population and coverage. the tier system is just to there to create balanced matches using entropy through the glicko. the fact is server rank was never intended to be a reward.
that being being said, region locking and 2 brackets was stupid on anets part….all servers should have been international or at the bare minimum on the same bracket.
also if EU servers are having coverage problems they are kitten out of luck, and should have recruited NA players before the free server transfers ended(instead of alienating them like most of the posts did).
wvwvw is a 24/7 game and the points reflect a server’s average performance over 7 days, not 8 hour blocks.
FA and DB are afraid of Maguuma. That’s why they like to double team. Whenever I see us getting pressured by FA, there’s good old DB lapdog going after us as well. No night presence plus double teaming makes this a skewed fight.

I know it feels like double teaming, but we are not believe me. before the matchup almost all the major guilds had a meeting on who is doing what in which bl. And MAG bl is one of the places where we are at too. We were actually fighting DB the entire time and DB was the ones that took the keeps we held in mag, not mag themselves. So I can assure u that we are not double teaming.
Ok maybe it’s DB trying to compensate for something cause from what I see, DB queue’s Mag BL while their own BL isn’t controlled and they time their attack to coincide with FA.
DB is just going for the weakest targets, if the situation was reversed Mag would be doing the same thing.

LOL, i dont know what else to say. i have no idea what you’re talking about. Kain has 24/7 coverage and big numbers. We have strong NA, strong Oceanic, strong Asian and good EU coverage. We’re beating and out-scoring DB and Mag in NA primetime with an average 400 PPT. We have improved dramatically in this match-up, playing defensive, building sieges at the right places in our keeps/towers , using team work, rallying on commanders when needed, having small groups capturing supply camps etc. As we progress tiers, we are getting better as a server and we are using more better and efficient tactics in dealing with numerous problems that comes our way.
sure if by “more better” and efficient tactics you mean droping hundreds of gold into multiple golem rushes on a keep being held by randoms 1/3rd your number and still taking multiple days to accomplish the task.
and if you mean “small group capturing supply camps” as 30+ people
and by “building sieges at the right places” means that you’ve been doing it wrong before. thus validating every other tier’s commenting about your skill.

I’ll post a video tomorrow so you or anyone else can draw their own conclusion on whether its bots or just braindead. It’s an almost pure WM zerg trying to take a camp from what starts at around 6 players and gradually builds up over 5+ minutes. All they need to do is split up and clear the circle but they can’t do it. They can’t even stop us from ressing the supervisor over and over. They keep running through like a blind bull ignoring everything except what’s in front of them and the only reason anyone’s in front of them is because the constant stealth culling abuse.
Ultimately they leave for no apparent reason while still heavily outnumbering us and still completely ignoring anyone who attack them from the side or behind while they’re leaving. If you think that’s organized and ‘being good at WvW’ I want to know who brainwashed you… Actually I’m surprised no one else has posted videos like this since I’m sure we have lots of clips like it.
For anyone on Maguuma or DB, try attacking their zergball from the sides or behind. The only people who will ‘see’ you are randoms tagging along with the zerg.
@the rest of Kaineng, nothing against your server as a whole. You have a whole lot of people and good coverage but almost no roaming presense and a very suspicious guild.
Other observations I made during my short time fighting WM in EB.
1. I have only seen WM zombie behaviour in Eternal Battleground. I did not see it in the WM members that were in the various border battlegrounds. Why?
2. When zombie WM members take damage, I do not ever remember seeing them dodge the damage. They would take the brunt of the damage and keep following the leader.
3. When I apply condition to zombie WM members, I don’t notice them cleansing condition. I would lay a chill mark in their zerg. The 5 member who are chilled just keep doing the follow the leader. I did not notice any attempt at dodging or cleansing condition.
4. I have not seen zombie WM standing on the wall defending or doing anything more complex then follow the leader, attack a location, attack on the move.
5. I have not seen zombie WM members engage in range standoff combat.
6. I have not seen zombie WM members after attacking a location be able to spread and attack random targets. If they don’t kill off enough players on the initial attack and are getting pressured, I see them ball up and run.
Anyone see this WM zombie group be able to do complex tasks beside attack a location, ball up and run?
So what I get from this is WM is horribad?

um….do you know what coverage means. Mag as a server isn’t on in oceanic, and DBs oceanic is significantly smaller then kains. In the oceanic your dealing with neither mag or db essentially, let alone both. Its probably not the fact that he needs to wake up….its more along the lines of hes probably at work(see what i did there).

There’s a limit to the number of Passiflora I can gather in a day. Roughly 15 or so nodes, but it is Per Character, not account.
I wouldn’t doubt the same system applies to all nodes.
Not doubting you, but I am curious how you came to this conclusion. Were you gathering Passiflora, and then suddenly around the 15th one all the remaining Passiflora nodes on your minimap vanished right in front of your eyes? Or are you just having a hard time finding more than 15 nodes to begin with?
I am curious as to how he’s getting 15, I have been hitting the nodes alot quite recently and have never seen 1 passiflower, not 1 since southsun cove opened. I am beginning to wonder if they are as rare as final rest.
passionflowers are just insane rare, i farm the nodes daily with 5 characters, and i get 1 every other day

Kain has close to a 24/7 coverage much like the T2/T1 servers. You’ll have to get NA, Oceanic & EU guilds to join the server. This is accomplished by politics, diplomacy and negotiations. It’s a meta-game in itself.By killing Kain zergs
The average Kain is not in full exotics, both armor and accessories. Even if it’s full exotics, 70-80% are in beserker gear. Most are low health at <15k. Most are not group traited (eg 70tough guardian group utility etc)Your server will have to form zerg busting group of about 10-15+, with good group mix of guardian, warrior, mesmer, thieves, etc. All group members need to purchase food and oil/stone for full effectiveness. However, the key is training, the zerg busters will need to run about 4-6hrs a day practicing group movement like feints, flanks, use of mesmer portals and veils etc. Group members need to have group utility traited for maximum effectiveness.
The key to breaking zergs is to catch them in the open field while on transit. So a network of scouts need to be setup, to report movement. That is key.

anyway, the trick to beating kain:
having the ability to wvwvw while sleeping in real life, which sadly most of us lack.
you know, i have to agree with the AD guy, those zerg balls are super easy to bring down. im sure they are nice and all for setting up siege and kitten, but they are essentially free badges for the other team in open field.

Full clerics/apoth gear with healing shout build using healing signet + healing sigil w/ no food
9241.625 per 25 seconds -> 370 passive regen from signet and adrenal
shouts heal for about group for 2k each
you can build sword/mace/shield, hammer, or longbow ideally
using apoth id say go sword/shield or warhorn + longbow
using clerics id say go mace/shield or warhorn + hammer

My thoughts were that the ele has very low base HP resulting in having to get vitality gear to not get 1-hit KO’d Necromancers already have that HP not only in base HP but also in DS. What I really hope to achieve is a balanced necro that is able to go rogue in wvw with decent mobility, survivability and damage while still being able to support.
I wanna fill all the roles.
Stuff the Necro has and other classes don’t:
DS
Fear
Marks
Siphon healthIf you get gear that improves crit chance and get the stuff that siphons health when critical hit you could gain even more health. Add in the perma regen with staff and the possibility of DS healing and spectral skills that recharge DS real fast should be able to have decent sustainability.
problem is the way necro is setup you cant do everything….i tried for weeks trying to make a boon based necro, using multiple gear sets.
the best i could get was:
A) a necro that could tank a full berserker ranger infinitely but unable to kill it due to such low damage and was super kittening slow to boot. also could take about 130k damage in short term burst from a zerg. (brick of hp is a good name for this one)
B) a mobile support necro that couldnt kill anything on its own but could rez the kitten out of people
C) a necro that would drop some pretty nasty wells then fall over dead
D)a bunker necro that could maintain 25 stacks of might but had low base damage at start of fight and low mobility.
the CD on skills, traitlines, awkward slot skill combinations, and weapon skills just dont make it viable(you cant get mobility, hp, and decent damage on the same necro). necro by design has few cantrips and long cooldowns but get control, a big hp pull, and good DoT to make up for it . also siphon health is mediocre even with healing gear and having 5 minions out.
you’d be better off with a healing shout war(solo’d the new grenth fist pump), or con bunker guard if you want something similar to a d/d elemental.

your portal bombing incorrectly, you need to mass invis before you go in, because culling through the portal no longer works. Your fighting like this is t6-8, please up your game.
