Anet nerfed the fun right out of this game. Haven’t played since that last nerf-happy update and, at this rate, won’t be logging in ever again.

It is truly a shame, because this game had so much potential. But then that one company was hired to monetize the game better and everything went downhill from there.

This new crew that took over the game after launch is a pale shadow of the developers who made it. What a joke this is and yet people are still going to buy it for “the convenience” Wishy washy consumers fuel a company’s laziness.

Bad reskin. Barely any effort. I wouldn’t give these guys another dime until they take some steps to get back to the Manifesto. I’ll hold my breath until ‘Wildstar’ comes out.

I haven’t even bothered logging in since the patch notes. The one thing that absolutely destroys an MMO for me is heavy-handed nerfing. Guess the new team running this game isn’t quite done ruining what the other team built up.

Actually been having some fun with DCUO. Then we’ll see, maybe Wildstar or Elder Scrolls. Probably done with GW2, as I have no desire to even log in.

Why is SM waypoint contested all the time?

QuartzMoped.2370

Trebbing SM walls from afar shouldn’t make the waypoint inaccessible, imo. Only an actual attack. Like, enemy at the gates sort of thing. Seems pointless to even have a wp there most of the time, as usually someone is taking potshots from long range.

This is a joke post. It is meant to illustrate that perhaps better fixes and better uses of time could be found. These are not real patch notes or future patch notes. At one point in time humans could tell the difference between a joke and “trolling”. This is not trolling; it is meant as a joke.

That said… here are FAKE patch notes from the FUTURE.

New Features and Content

  • All world mobs have been changed to Champions. All drops have been changed to Porous Bones.
  • Grawl headdresses have been made 45% bigger and all Grawl not wearing headdresses have been given mullets and wallet chains.
  • That one way that you figured out how to make a little gold… yeah, we changed that.
  • All Legendary weapon sounds have been changed to the sound of a developer’s laughter.
  • Guild Halls will be added! They will be unlocked for any guild who finishes all of the recently added Guild Missions and can be purchased by other guilds for 8000 gems or 250,000 ectos.
  • Ranger icons have been scaled back as they were made too overpowered in the last update.
  • An internal cooldown has been added to dancing emotes.
  • Fixed a bug that caused loot chests to spawn.
  • We added nine new windows to nine old buildings.
  • New achievement! Find the nine new windows and peer inside the buildings. There will be interesting things to see! (Interesting things to see will be added in a later patch)
  • Kholer now spawns gravelings. And those gravelings spawn ghost bunnies. If you hit the ghost bunnies, they spawn ghost wurms. If you hit the ghost wurms, they explode for massive damage and refill Kholer’s health to full.

Does anyone else have any FAKE patch notes from the FUTURE that are meant as a JOKE?

Honestly, I’d be disappointed in this news, if I wasn’t already disappointed with the news of the rewards. As much as new missions sound fun, I’m not investing any guild points in something with rewards that are just new guild banners. I’ll save my small guild’s points, as I’ve been doing, for something of value — a fully upgraded guild bank. After that, if I had any points left, any points would be horded until this company starts valuing my time better and offers rewards that are actually, you know, rewarding.

In the quest to make guilds something more worthwhile, guild missions are a band-aid, at best.

Maybe it’s just me, but when ever I see debates take a turn towards logical fallacies, I just sigh. There are many forum posters that seem to use this as their “go to” for every topic. While the fallacious arguments are fine, the over-use/misuse of them really bothers me.

If you’re not receiving loot from a champ/vet, it’s most likely because you’re not getting kill credit. We’re currently working on some improvements to this so that it will be easier to get rewards when you kill a creature.

Just for added clarification: Is there a bug that prevents one from getting kill credit, even if they were the only one killing the mob? Because I’ve soloed many vets recently and have received no drops more often than not.

You argument: If someone hurts you in a relationship, just walk away from that person. Don’t ever, under any circumstances, address your grievances. About the gist?

A videogame isn’t a relationship, so no, that’s not my argument.

But since you brought it up, ultimatums are a really bad idea in relationships too.

You’re correct: a videogame is not a relationship. Silly me. Oh, but wait… how about a customer and a company? Is that a relationship? Oh, it is?

Issuing ultimatums to a game is extremely silly to begin with.

If you don’t enjoy the game, stop playing it, you don’t need to make these grand statements.

Many people have been describing this update as a “make or break time” for this game. I agree, as the general feelings of newness are dissipating, this update could either have revitalized love for this game, its lore and its world or sent more people packing. Which was it for you?

For me: packing. Tired of this group concentrating their efforts on non-issues that weren’t broke and then breaking them. Tired of the promises of transparency, followed by the same old corporate double-speak. Tired of what has become obvious for so many: they have taken the promise of an excellent game and squandered it because they would prefer to force the cash from our hands as opposed to inviting us to spend it. Many changes, that seem to make no sense, make great sense when looked through the lens of, “they want more money”.

Great game shell, horrible decisions ruining it. Customers you drive away don’t buy any gems. Customers you drive away don’t recommend this game to their friends.

Why do nerfs scare or enrage the community?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: QuartzMoped.2370

QuartzMoped.2370

Nerfing is the lowest and laziest form of class balance. Nothing is accomplished through nerfing that could not be done with other means.

Look at that other giant MMO. In one update this class is the most powerful and the “flavor of the month” and then, next patch (or several patches later) they are nerfed and another class or spec is the new flavor. Why not get one class to a good level of power and then buff other who fall short?

The nerf game is also offensive because it seems to lead to homogenization of the classes over a long-enough time line. Cool abilities that this profession has are borrowed from that profession and given to all the others. Once again, the lazy route. Instead of thinking up new and interesting skills for other classes, just take this skill that already exists and give it to everyone. Not sure if this was a rumor or not, but I have already heard they might do something like this with mesmer portals (give them to others, or at least abilities like that).

The point is to feel more powerful as you progress. Nerfs are the opposite.

Just wanted to add that I wish they would have done a legendary system in that you could design it yourself. Pick your weapon type, then pick from a variety of special skins for that weapon, then pick maybe two or three special properties (particle effects, special glows, the footprints, the making you look metallic) and then name it yourself.

In my opinion a system such as that would blow away the current legendary situation.

QuartzMoped.2370

I was pretty bored with the legendaries from the get go. My first 80 was a Sylvari elementalist and I did a bit of considering of the legendaries for him, but ended up feeling that I can do without. The reasons being:

Not all legendaries are created equal. Some clearly had better designers, or just more care put into their design, than others. The legendaries that you are seeing everywhere are the ones more cleverly designed. Meteorlogicus is not equal to Twilight. Some make cool footprints, others… nah. The weapon should be cool enough. Except that it isn’t.

One legendary per weapon type is not nearly enough. If these are the be-all, end-all of weapons, why not a bit more variety? The aforementioned Meteorlogicus would be, based upon the semi-elemental nature of its looks, the best of the legendaries for my elementalist. But scepter for elementalist? H’okay! I never use it. Bifrost doesn’t interest me even slightly for my elementalist. Clearly a mesmer staff. Rainbows don’t suit the look I am going for. Speaking of rainbows… I feel bad for any ranger who prefers shortbows that isn’t a fan of My Little Pony. The needed at least two legendaries of each weapon type that would cater to different types of people with their visuals.

No word on whether more will be added, or when. Seriously, I’d like some word on whether more designs will be added in an update at some time, or will we have to wait for the first expansion? Weapon skins have to be about the easiest additions to implement in the game, so how about some new designs?

First they nerfed the drop rates,
and I didn’t speak out because the graphics were amazing.

Then they nerfed the manifesto,
and I didn’t speak out because finding a group for Fractal 63 takes time.

Then they nerfed the engineer’s grenades,
and I didn’t speak out because I was rerolling a thief.

Then they nerfed the aoe,
and there was no one left to play their game.

I will not take part in a game where balance is attempted through a culture of continual nerfs. Nerfs are the lowest form of a fix available. Nerfs should be the last ditch effort, not the first go-to quick fix. I have walked away from other games which took this route and shall again. I’d hate to, as there are many exceptional qualities of this game, but I will not have my characters feel less powerful over time. That is backward.

Build up. Don’t tear down.

Unidentified Dye in Black Lion Chests?

The RNG gods have read my post and took pity on me!

If I had just been getting extremely unlucky before I made that post, my apologies. But if not you have implemented some of my requests and I was much happier with the contents of the chest I’ve opened.

Two unidentified dyes were held within. And a stack of 25 Black Lion Mining Picks. Is this a new chest treat, or had these been in there before? Looking forward to trying them out on a rich ori node and see what we see.

The contents have been greatly improved! Thank you for listening.

Unidentified Dye in Black Lion Chests?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

QuartzMoped.2370

Ok, while I must admit that I prefer a solitary unidentified dye to the previous alternative (mystery tonics… shudder), is this really what we’ve come to with the RNG and dyes that the only way I seem to get them anymore with any reliability is through a Black Lion Chest?

My first character, who started out on the headstart weekend, was swimming in unidentified dyes while leveling up. My most previous 80 probably found about 20 dyes through the leveling process. My newest character, purchased with gold -> gems during the character slot sale, has found maybe two dyes in the world and now these two from the chests.

Is it a wonder that I only open chests when I find a key in the world and have a solid stack of near 200 chests in the bank? Are people buying keys? Do people perceive value in Black Lion Chests? Is it possible that, going forward, there will also be more transparency in the contents of chests? Are unidentified dyes the new standard or are they a temporary placeholder for something? Will the loot table always be 1-1-1? Or possibly would you want to throw even more RNG into the mix and have a chance of items proccing like ectos (ie. a chance to receive one, two or three of a given item instead of always one)? Because the chance to receive three dyes sits better with me than a single, lone dye every time.

Guess I’ll hoard any keys I find for a while.

This Order of Whispers World Event is Neato!

Excellent work on the dynamic event taking place wherein an Order of Whispers agent suddenly appears to harvest a resource before promptly disappearing again. I know that you didn’t announce the event and the Order themselves have denied any involvement, but they must really need those resources because they are harvesting like mad. Sometimes, I see two or three agents appear at the same banyan tree or oricalcium ore within a matter of minute. No plural, just one minute. They are both secretive and industrious.

I think I am enjoying this event even more than the last one — where the trains of hero class hunters would come to help clear the map of all life. Can’t wait to see the next world event… I’m hoping it will be levitating mesmers who bathe the creatures in a pink hot light from the heavens, landing only to loot their corpses.

Simplest solution:

Send every character a free 20 slot bag, any other guaranteed items acquired and another bag that has a chance to contain any of the random items available at the end of the event, whether they participated or not.

This will be the most viable solution to fix what was admittedly a poorly executed event.

Just wondering, now that it looks like a large portion of players along the east coast will be unable to play without power if this storm is as bad as predicted, will you consider pushing back the one-time event on Sunday if power and data centers are lost? How about the length of the entire event, or the phases? Is there any possibility that they can have timers adjusted to account for current weather conditions?

News organizations are predicting several days without power for many eastern states. Many towns are evacuating. Gonna be difficult for many players to see this one-time event and will potentially miss out on several days of the event. What is ArenaNet’s stance on this issue?
