Anet why in the world would you take away the ability to dye retired town clothes? I and many others spent actual cash on this stuff and you go and make it ugly by not allowing us to dye it how we like it. Then on top of that you go and make it so it can only be worn for 15 minutes at a time and takes up multiple inventory slots in the form of various tonics. You had a good system going and I see no logical reason for breaking it and ruining things customers have already paid for. I guess I should say thanks for making my decision to never spend another dime on any of your products again an easy one.

Sylvari T2 Headgear Permanently Removed Glow

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: QuintWinters.6985

QuintWinters.6985

I just purchased the tier 2 sylvari cultural head armor and when I made it visible it took away my sylvari’s hair glow. The tips of her hair have always glowed neon blue, slowly fading in and out.

In an attempt to get the glow back I tried:
Removing the helmet.
Putting the old helmet back on and turning it invisible as it’s always been.
Logging out and back in.
Fully exiting the game and restarting it.
Going through an asura gate to another zone to see if it might reset something.

None of these things did anything to bring back the glow.

Edit: The glow just started working again so maybe I posted this prematurely. I have no idea what made it start working again. Maybe it became night in the game, though I’ve always been under the impression the glow was visible in dark areas and not just when it’s night.

Are Vorpp's item drops account wide?

in Clockwork Chaos

When all the Vorpp items dropped for me I accidentally deleted the Focusing Crystal because I thought it was a standard event trash trophy until I noticed the two others. I have yet to have this item drop again so I can’t get the achievement. I noticed they’re soulbound, so can different characters get their own copies of the items or are they an account based drop?

Edit: Nevermind, it suddenly occurred to me to go talk to Vorpp and see what happens and it gave me the achievements when I did. Should’ve tried the obvious before posting.

Report Option for Player Griefing

QuintWinters.6985

Grow up? I’m a 32 year old man. I learned a long time ago not to put up with pointless harassment from people. I ignore the griefers for the most part – I understand that’s how some people have their fun. But someone childishly griefing other players repeatedly, over and over and over, is going to get a report out of me. I’ve only done this a couple of times for over-the-top scenarios throughout almost 2500 hours of gameplay in gw2, though I’ve had to give suggestions many times to other players on what to do when this stuff happens to them. Generally the suggestion is to just port out – but sometimes that’s not enough to solve the problem, especially when witnessing it happening to multiple other players by the same griefer over an extended course of time.

I feel it’s not right to not be able to submit a report of the proper kind from inside the game – it’s not fair to the gm’s to get reports that aren’t quite correct, and it’s not fair to the players in question to be reported for spamming/verbal abuse when that’s not what it is that they’re doing.

Further suggestion:

As a way to police it, if a player racked up so many griefing reports on them in a certain length of time a gm could go invisibly watch what the player was doing to see if they were indeed doing nothing but causing other players intentional grief. There should also be a description box to explain what it is the player in question is doing.

Griefing should be a bannable offense just as verbal abuse is.

QuintWinters.6985

Please add a report option for player griefing. The closest option to this is spamming, which I’ve used it for on many occasions – except that they’re not spamming.

I’m not even entirely sure that griefing is against TOS, but it should be given that the game is designed so that players on a server work together instead of against each other.

The kinds of things I’m referring to:
- Intentionally kiting mobs onto a player to get them killed.
- Following a player around with a mariners horn or choir bell playing a single note repeatedly.
- Repeatedly casting AOE swiftness on players before they make a jump in a jumping puzzle to make them miss.
- Following a player’s small character around with a large character so the player can’t see their own character.
- Endlessly running circles around a player wherever they go.

Blocking a player solves none of these issues, the only option is to port out of the area to get away from them.

Endless Gathering Tools Permanently Offered

QuintWinters.6985

The endless gathering tools – pick, axe, sickle – should be permanent additions to the gem store. Arenanet is losing out on a lot of potential profit by taking them away after the short periods they’ve been available.

If the pick was still available I’d spend money on gems to buy it. I didn’t buy it when it was up because I didn’t feel it was worth it at the time, but after a while I’ve come to realize that it would be a great convenience. I also didn’t realize at the time that it wasn’t a permanent addition to the gem store, as it was listed under the Services tab and not just the Promotions tab.

If things are going to be temporarily available they should say so in the description or be put in their own tab that contains only temporary content.

As of now we’ve got to wait months, maybe even a full year, before we can spend cash on something we would like to have. Instead those of us who don’t have them will be spending gold in-game to buy the consumable ones, making Arenanet nothing in the way of profit.

Edit: Also the animations are downright annoying. Why not offer normal looking endless tools?

Custom Arenas: More Admins/Less Hindrance

in PvP

Posted by: QuintWinters.6985

QuintWinters.6985

Honestly it has nothing to do with laurels. At least for my part, I’ve got more laurels than I ever know what to do with, more gold than I’ll ever use, more karma than I’ll ever use, etc.

If we were just looking for an easy way to do stuff we could always just join a random numbered pvp server and take turns letting each other kill us. I’ve seen a lot of people doing that, and I’ve let other players spam-kill me while I sit there doing nothing just so they can get their daily. Having a private custom arena isn’t going to change whether that happens or not.

The reason we want less progress hindering options is so we can get people who do not play spvp at all to actually play it with us. As it stands, over half the time when we try to do a progress making game in a numbered server with just 1v1, 2v2 or we’ve got people who are completely new to spvp with us, we get other people joining and ruining the game. People who unbalance the teams. People who will switch teams at the last minute just so they’re on the winning side. People who come in just to troll the chat. People who are very high ranked coming in to kill newbies for the fun of it. People who, by our best guess, are hacking, teleporting all over the map.

I want our players who are new to sPvP to be able to progress without these game-breaking and demoralizing problems. For my part, I could give a crap whether I level or get laurels or not. I’m just in it for the social aspect.

Custom Arenas: More Admins/Less Hindrance

in PvP

QuintWinters.6985

Please add an option to allow other select players to admin a custom pvp arena.

We purchased an arena for our guild. I’m the admin, but I can’t be online at all times. I want our other leader and our officers to be able to make changes to the arena as they see fit, per gaming session.

This leads me to a second problem / wanted solution.

There seems to be only three options for keeping out random players (we do NOT want random players joining – with random players it might as well be a regular numbered pvp server and kills the whole point of having a custom arena.)

- Passwording, which kills the ability to progress.
- Reserving all the slots for guild members, which again kills the ability to progress.
- Having the exact amount of maximum players allowed join from a guild, which is rarely going to happen unless the only ‘admin’ is online to adjust the settings – and again it kills progress if the maximum is set to 1v1 or 2v2.

Please remove some of this progress hindrance. There’s not much sense in playing if we can’t progress – but then again there’s not much sense in playing if randoms are going to join and ruin guild-only games when the only official ‘admin’ isn’t online to adjust the maximum players per team settings so randoms can’t join.

None of these limits were mentioned in the only mention of what’s customizable, here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Custom-Arenas-FAQ

So far it seems that the custom arena was a waste of money due to these limits. We just want to be able to do our dailies and level up without interference from randoms and trolls. I know many of my guilds members refuse to play sPvP due to the randoms and trolls, and we thought this was a solution. Apparently it’s not.

Fix these problems and we’ll happily spend a lot of money extending custom arena time.

Custom PvP arena not letting us start games

We just purchased a custom pvp arena for our guild. We’ve got the settings set as basic as possible just to test it out.

Password – set to nothing with the box unchecked.
Team Size: 8
Score Limit: 500
Time Limit: 15
Respawn Time: 20
Starting Players: 1
Reserved Slots: 0
Respawn Type: Individual
Spectators: Checked
Ready Button: Unchecked
Autobalance: Checked
Lock Gear: Unchecked
Lock Skills: Unchecked
No Progression: Unchecked
All maps available for rotation
Member Players: None
Member Guilds: Dark Rising Of Aeonic Warfare
Banned Players: None

Two of us go into the server and join opposing teams. The game doesn’t start.

Stupid as this question may be, how do we get the game to start? Everything looks like it’s set up right for it to start but nothing happens.

Edit: I was able to get a game to start when I set Starting Players to 0, but that kills the ability to award progression.

Edit 2: After many tries it finally started working with other players. Not sure why it wouldn’t work before, perhaps because it was still too new?

How many people in the real world outside of a beach/swimming pool do you see wearing goggles? Zero?

I’m a steampunk cosplayer, and yes I wear goggles – sometimes at my computer, oddly enough. I know many other cosplayers that also wear them.

I’ve even got ones I’ve made with little retractable magnifying glasses that I use to assist in doing fine details….when making more goggles and other steampunk accessories!

Also glad to hear that they’ll be available in the gem store, though it doesn’t sound like they’d be able to skin onto my asura.

I’ve complained about this before and I’m complaining about it again. Where are the goggles?

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/june-25-2013/

In 4 out of the 6 screenshots from the sky pirates of tyria event there are awesome looking goggles (5 variations!) But what do you give us? Yet another monocle.

There are only two pairs of goggles in the game – the cruddy looking ones you can choose when you start an engineer (they’d look awesome if it weren’t for the wings coming out the top of them), and the tier 3 asura medium cultural armor head piece. Both are only available to specific character types.

When I first started playing back in october I rolled an engineer specifically for the goggles they can get – I’m a steampunk nut. Yet they just don’t look right.

I’m at a loss on why you tease us with 5 variations of goggles on npc’s yet don’t allow us to have any of them, giving us only another monocle – something that’s already available in the game to any medium armor wearer.

Please give us some decent goggles to wear that aren’t race / class specific!

Guild Bounty NPC's prematurely disappearing

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Didn’t know that one, but that’s definitely not the case with us, as none of us are in overflows (we’re usually partied up and all accounted for). I could see that easily happening in a situation like the secret of southsun event where people got thrown into various overflows most of the time.

I’m wondering if it could possibly be that another guild gets assigned the same bounty npc while we’re already fighting it and it makes it reset to its spawn location for the other guild.

Guild Bounty NPC's prematurely disappearing

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

QuintWinters.6985

Several weeks in a row now my guild has been screwed out of merits due to guild bounty npcs disappearing before the bounty hunt is over. We know that the person that activates the bounty has to stay on the map and that person does. We’ll get a bounty nearly dead, just a few hits to go, and it will say event failed and the npc will disappear – even if we’ve got 5-10 minutes left on the bounty hunt. Please fix this. We want to unlock the rest of the guild missions and this is completely screwing us over.

Edit: As an additional detail, this does not just happen when the bounty npc is almost dead. An hour ago we had to kill Devious Teesa and we had engaged the npc not a minute and a half before it disappeared and said the event failed, with the player that originally engaged it standing right beside it. We also do not kite the npc away from it’s path, if that somehow causes it to fail.

I know this comes from How to Dance Volume 1, but…

It pops up in the dead center of my screen. My combat log is full of it. I can’t accept the invitation, it appears to be nothing more than some red text with no meaning. There is an invitation boon on me for a few seconds but clicking on it does nothing.

What gives? Is it just a new-item-bug? Is there supposed to be a way to accept the invitation or is it an ‘if you’ve got this item use it with me’ kind of thing?

Sonic Periscopes are Annoying

I have major problems just getting close enough to damage them. Every encounter with one is a near death experience for me. Yes it takes them a second to turn so you can theoretically get behind them, but 90% of the time they catch up to me, blast me, and then it’s back to square one trying to get close enough to do damage. Almost as soon as I stand up I’m blasted again.

They’re not hard to take down once you can start damaging them, I just find it highly annoying that it’s so difficult to approach them….especially considering the only payoff is a few achievement points.

The sonic periscopes scattered around several zones are by far the most annoying thing I’ve ever encountered in a video game. Not sure what the devs were thinking there.

Even if I’m not interested in destroying them I can’t walk through the zone without randomly getting knocked down by them before I can even figure out where they are. And actually destroying them? My level 80 characters have more problems destroying these things than they do soloing champions. Something is majorly wrong with that scenario.

Please get rid of these things, or at least make them so they don’t fire at players unless they are attacked by a player.

I must disagree. I care nothing for pvp or wvw, but I’m all over those achievement points. (Though I will do pvp and wvw to get the daily achievement points.)

Imo those points are the end game content. I’ve done everything else. That achievement section is a giant list of stuff you can do after doing everything else. Those points represents how much of the game I’ve played.

I compete (silently, don’t rub it in peoples faces) with my fellow guild members for the top spot in achievement points. Having this leaderboard makes it even better for me because now once I’ve reached top spot in my guild I can start competing with everyone on the leaderboard instead of getting bored because there’s nobody else to pass in points.

Or maybe that’s to a different one? Idk

That one’s for the super adventure box. When I saw that title I gave up hope on ever getting one for completing all jumping puzzles, as they’re likely not going to put two jumping puzzle related titles in the game.

There really should be a title for this though. IMO jumping puzzles are the single best part of the whole game and require a lot more skill and thought than other parts of the game. I’d personally like a title that represents all the hours of fun and frustration I had completing these things.

This is the one achievement I gave up on after realizing how much it costs with no actual benefit. If the alcohol actually did something more than make the screen twist for 10 seconds it might be fun to drink it a lot, even at so great a cost.

Hate to make the comparison, but WoW’s alcohol effect was awesome – it more or less properly simulated being drunk – and I constantly drank in that game because it was FUN to drink. Whoever designed GW2’s drunk effect I’m guessing has never drank a drop of alcohol in real life. There’s not any sense in even drinking it other than for the achievement, as it’s not fun in any way.

As some guildies and I were playing through the Super Adventure Box last night we were in complete awe at the awesomeness. It’s a puzzle jumpers dream and a great throwback to the 80’s and childhood memories for those of us who are in our 30’s.

What we really think is awesome though is that unlike holiday events, dungeons or fractals, this is an entire game within the game. This is exactly the kind of thing that GW2 needs. Every major city needs at least one mini-game of some sort, and more should be scattered throughout the world. The more there are, the more variety and options are open to players – things to keep them occupied and playing, and in turn buying gems and making anet money.

The skins are absolutely amazing looking as well. They look better than many of the legendary weapons. Can’t wait to see the rest of them when they get released!

My guild mates and I unanimously agreed that the developers responsible for the SAB deserve a raise. Whoever is in charge of that project should be in charge of all future mini-game projects for GW2 and should be given a bigger budget and more people. They did a fantastic job!

The only name we’ve been able to dig up of anyone on the SAB dev team is Josh Foreman. So thank you Josh Foreman and associates! (Seriously, we’d erect a statue of you in Lions Arch if we could )

You missed 1. On the 03.26 patch, it bugged both PVP monthly and daily. So for march you could get 31 for each day, 10 for monthly, 10 for PVP monthly, and 1 for PVP daily on patch day. 52 total for March.

That explains the extra 1 I have then. Thanks for the clarification on where that one came from, it was baffling me.

However, there’s still the issue of how I have 94 laurels when I should have 92 (maybe 93 if the laurels were technically introduced on 01-27 and the 01-28 daily reset happened on 01-27.) Where did the extra 1 or 2 come from? My best guess is it’s glitched and given me an extra laurel at some point.

QuintWinters.6985

Laurels were introduced on January 28. From 01-28 to 01-31 is 4 days, equaling 4 laurels (and no monthly laurels).

Total: 4 Laurels

From 02-01 to 02-28 is 28 days, equaling 28 laurels + 10 monthly laurels = 38 laurels.

Total = 4 + 38
Total: 42 Laurels

From 03-01 to 03-31 is 31 days, equaling 31 laurels + 10 monthly laurels (+ 10 monthly pvp laurels due to the patch glitch) = 51 laurels.

Total = 42 + 51
Total: 93 Laurels

And one day this month so far equaling 1 laurel.

Total = 93 + 1
Total: 94 Laurels

I currently have 94 Laurels and have not done todays daily since it has not reset yet. I did not get the very first laurel due to the combo kills with an ally achievement we had about a half hour to get. So technically I should have 92 laurels. Where did the other two come from?

And now for the question that inspired this topic…

There are people on reddit who already have their endless cat tonic (that’s what I’m saving for.) How is this possible?

I hate to start making accusations against anyone, but considering the way you get laurels I don’t see that it’s possible at all for them to have accumulated 100 yet, so are they hacking or cheating in some way? Or are the wiki, gw2 forums, and gw2 news and announcements completely wrong about how these things are acquired?

It kind of irks me because since the day laurels were introduced I’ve been planning on acquiring that endless cat tonic on the very first day its possible for anyone to get it (well, second since I missed that first laurel.) Now people have it a week ahead of when it’s supposed to be possible to get it. I’m very confused. Can anyone explain what’s going on here?

@Ronah – I don’t think not displaying other players title equates to “spitting in their faces” in any sort of way.

First those players don’t even know you don’t have their titles displayed.
Second the titles are still there to be looked at if the character is selected.
And third, I’d argue somewhat the opposite and say that the titles being force-displayed are likely more of an annoyance/hinderance to other players than not being able to force others to see your title is to any given player. But players getting upset because they can’t force everyone in a fifty yard radius to see that they earned a title? Are they not getting enough attention at home or something? I don’t get it…

QuintWinters.6985

I suggest that an option for choosing how many people you want in an sPvP game be implemented, so that 1v1, 2v2, etc are possible.

With the current setup it’s not possible for me to pit myself against a friend or guild mate to see which one of our characters comes out on top. We may get one fight after we join an empty server, then it fills up with up to 8 more people and fighting each other is more or less out of the question because we’ve got to deal with all the other people.

Personally I do not like sPvP. It’s just not my thing. But I do enjoy pvp’ing against friends. The current setup doesn’t allow for this. My friends and I are forced to fight people we have no interest in fighting. This probably also ruins a lot of pvp games for other people because when they join our server? We leave. We just want to fight each other, not randoms.

So again, please implement a way for us to choose how many people we want in a sPvP match.

I would like to see a plus movement speed town clothes accessory implemented to fix the problem of all professions not having equal ability to use a speed boost. Something like 3 or 4 tiers of them that you can buy in the gem store or with laurels.

For instance one you can’t use until level 20 and it gives +10% movement speed, the next at 40 with +25% and the final at 60 with +33%. You would have to switch to town clothes to activate it but could then switch back to armor if you wish just like the riding broom, which I think would make it easy to implement. Unlike the riding broom however, which disappears after 3 minutes, the speed boost would stay active until you go into combat, and then the boon is automatically taken away.

Out-of-Combat Engineer Weapon Swapping

QuintWinters.6985

I’m under the impression that weapons swapping isn’t allowed on engineers because they have kits and it’s somehow a balance issue. It is however extremely annoying and time consuming to constantly be digging in bags full of inventory to figure out where my off-hand pistol went when I switched to the rifle. Even with invisible bags if you switch to a two-hand weapon from dual wield weapons it will only put the main hand weapon in the invisible bag. There needs to be a more organized way of handling this situation.

Suggestion: Add weapon swapping ability to engineers. If in-combat weapon swapping unbalances things add out-of-combat weapon swapping so that the weapons are at least stored in some kind of dedicated slot instead of defaulting to the topmost inventory slot in your bags.

Another possible organizational option is a new bag type that soulbound items get put in first if possible.

At first I was just jumping off and enjoying the extremely long fall to the bottom of the ‘pit’, teleporting back (no armor damage from falling – free porting in the cities) and doing it again. But then I discovered that it takes real skill to fall, smack into an object and die, and have your body ricochet off and fall some more. It’s REALLY hard to ricochet off of two objects.

I’ve had such fun (and frustration) trying to ricochet my body off of the blocks and such down there that I thought it would make a good achievement, something along the lines of “Ricocheting Skydiver”, which to get would take ‘skydiving’ in Rata Sum until you hit a particular block/object, die, and your body ricochets off and falls to the lowest part of Rata Sum’s ‘pit.’

I’ve had similar thoughts but not so much factions of the dragons but the factions that are against particular races, such as the Nightmare Court and the Inquest. I don’t suppose it would work being that those are mobs and all the renown hearts and such are geared toward the primary “good” factions of the races, but it would be nice to be able to be an evil Sylvari, especially considering how evil you can make a Sylvari look in character creation.

Hmm, I’d hate to waste a tranmutation stone if it doesn’t work, but I guess the only way to find out is to try. I’ll let you know the results if I try it.

I read of a trick where you make a new Engineer and use a transmutation stone to apply the look of the soulbound goggles to a blue helmet item that’s not soulbound, then just use the bank to give the newly transmuted item to the other character.

That’s what I’m really looking for. Don’t know whether those are actually supposed to be goggles or not now that I take a really close look at them, but they sure look like it, just sitting on the forehead instead of covering the eyes.

Aah yeah those are monocles, regardless of whether they’re calling them goggles or not. Guess for the moment my only option is to transmute some starter Engineer goggles and give them to my Engineer. Hate to cover up her eyes though, plus they’re kind of big for her little Asuran face. Thanks for the links.

If anyone has a screenshot of the leather and noble goggles I’d love to see what they look like. I’m having difficulty finding them via google and none are listed on the trading post.

I got my Asura Engineer to 80 last night and I was all excited, finally I’d get to work toward getting armor that actually looks fit for an Engineer to wear. There is only one armor set in the game that truly seems to fit with what an Asura Engineer would wear, and it’s what I’ve been looking forward to all this time. Now I discover that I can’t even wear it! It’s the Asura Tier 3 Light Cultural Armor, the Savant Armor set. It’s got goggles and a tool belt – Engineer things.

I was angry but I thought, no problem, I’ll just somehow save up tons of money and buy two armor sets and use those handy transmutation stones I’ve been saving all this time. Then I get to researching and discover that transmutation can’t occur between armor of light, medium and heavy.

Now I’m furious. I’m an Engineer but I cant LOOK like an Engineer, even at 80? Some of the medium cultural armor looks somewhat Engineerish, but it all covers up the face, and my female Asura has a cute face and gorgeous eyes I don’t want covered up. I just want goggles on her forehead.

So far the only armor my Engineer has been able to wear looks like armor that would be fit for a Ranger, Thief, Pirate, Ship Captain or Cowboy. Duster jackets and scarfs, cowboy hats and sailing ship captains garb. Or I could go with a monocle and look like Colonel Klink from Hogan’s Hero’s….

Why is the only armor in the game that looks fit for an Asura Engineer light armor?

If we can’t have the ability to transmute between armor types can we not at least have Engineer profession correct looking armor in the medium tier that Engineers can wear?

Engineer IS the only class with a toolbelt isn’t it? Why should a light armor profession physically have one on their armor but medium armor professions, including Engineers, not have one? Same goes for goggles. Why would a profession other than Engineer need goggles?

Suggestions:

Add some medium armor class goggles to the game other than the starter Engineer goggles. Versions that go over the eyes and versions that sit on the forehead.

Add some medium armor class leggings that actually have a toolbelt on them.

VOIP Ducking Slider Bar Does Nothing

in Audio

I have my game audio running on a surround sound system. I have my skype & vent audio running on a headset. However, any time there is any incoming or outgoing audio on the headset the GW2 VOIP Ducking kicks in and mutes my game audio on my surround sound. I absolutely do not want it to do this. I want both at full volume all the time, that’s why I use two different channels for them.

The slider bar on the VOIP Ducking settings seems to do nothing (nor does it say what direction you’re supposed to slide it in to make VOIP Ducking more or less intense.) Is anyone else having this issue? Is there a way to disable VOIP Ducking altogether?

Just for the record so far I’ve only tested it with skype.

I can easily run my chat audio from another computer as I’ve been doing for many years, but I think it would be nice to be able to run them both from the same computer just for the sake of power conservation and not having to have a second computer sitting around just for voice chat.
