It’s against the rules to talk about any authority’s actions or to question them. It’s against the rules to talk about any threads that have been deleted. This thread will be deleted soon.

And of course writing it into the book of rules makes it all okay…

A book of rules we agreed to when we signed a ToS and EULA that they actually enforce. Go figure.

Day/Night Cycle

in Suggestions

Posted by: RolandDaemon.7268

RolandDaemon.7268

At the very most, we should get a clock that can track the day/night of the in-game cycle.

As far as the cycles themselves, I believe Anet has said themselves that certain events only startup at night and some during the day… having a 24 hour night/day cycle like we have would kill the ability to do content for certain people who may not be able to play during the day or the night.

Besides, Alot of the awesomeness that would be the Sylvari glow would be lost if you couldn’t see it for over half the day

it’ll probably be a greatsword skin, if anything..

and lore-wise.. we will probably get them once we’ve pushed the elder dragons far enough where we can travel the ocean to Cantha

Varied Attack Animations.

in Suggestions

Posted by: RolandDaemon.7268

RolandDaemon.7268

I know this seems like a silly suggestion that would probably require ALOT of hours to do, but would it be possible to get some more attack animations down the line?

A few examples, for instance.

Savage leap for warriors: Instead of having it as a stab for the attack, maybe have it so the warrior will do an overhead slash (kind of like Legend of Zelda’s Leap attack from Ocarina of time)

Any dual wields: Incorporate some dual-wield animations into the 1 attack or maybe the others depending on the weapon style.

Warrior Example.. Main-hand Axe, Offhand Sword: When doing the chop skill (the 3 hit-channel at the end of the 1 combo).. have the first hit be the axe, second hit be the sword and then the final hit the axe.

Dual-pistol Engy: Make the 1 shot fire kinda like the thieves dual-pistol 3 skill where both pistols are front and both are firing. Maybe for the Poison volley for engy’s, as silly as this may sound, maybe do a ‘sideways grip’ every now and then (maybe like.. 10-15% to keep it fresh/random?)

Just.. little things like these could keep the attacking fresh and could add ALOT of style to the game (I like doing flashy things.. even if it means taking huge risks that are completely unessicary).. and even random bursts of ‘flashyness’ would be cool.

If you want an example of a really well done system for quick messaging, look no further than Tribes Ascend. I’ve never used/seen a better voice menu system. (I wish CS/TF2/Etc. used it instead of having 3-4 different voice menu options…)

I don’t understand why people haven’t figuref it out yet.

You’re buying the skin, not the stats. The Cultural armors are some of the best looking armor sets out there.

Remove the holy trinity and what do you get?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

RolandDaemon.7268

The Trinity is still here, it’s just been blurred so much that people can’t even see it.

You can heal, but it’s not as good as your own personal heal.
You can tank, but you can’t just sit there and take a beating.. you gotta move/dodge/kite in addition to having those few skills/armor that lets you tank
You can dps…. But you gotta adapt and realize that survival is more important that going balls to the walls trying to win at some dps meter (Which doesn’t and won’t exist here)

All im seeing here is a playstyle gripe and how what we’ve done for nearly 8+ years doesn’t work anymore… instead we have to think/adapt to situations at hand (hell, went through AC one time and I nearly switched utilities for each pull cause I knew it would make things easier if I did.. and it felt awesome knowing that)

Adapt. Adapt… Adapt… It’s the only way you’ll grow in this game (and hell, even in real life)

What do you think is overall the best profession, and why?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RolandDaemon.7268

RolandDaemon.7268

Overall, i’d probably say the Guardian.

They’ve got options that many, many classes do not. They are completely viable healers, tanks, zone control, damage and even condition damage (never, NEVER underestimate burning)

Add to the fact they have access to one of the most powerful buffs, Aegis… I believe overall these guys are #1. They truly can do it all in a number of ways and good guardians in pvp are absoultely disgusting to fight against and EVERYONE wants one in their party.

Play what you love. If you’re enjoying yourself doing nothing but creating alts and seeing what you like, then enjoy it.

This is definitely a game of the journey, not the destination. I can barely stand to play on my 62 warrior anymore because I spent the first weekend doing nothing but playing and trying to rush to max level.. I realized the error of this around level 50 and slowed down significantly… but I think its too late for my warrior (I actually SERIOUSLY thought about remaking him as well.)

The world is huge. Explore at your own pace and do what you enjoy.

and most of all, Have fun

Down scaling

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

RolandDaemon.7268

I believe the stats for down scaling actually matter to a cap. After that anything over that cap is lost to the wind but generally since it’d be a pain to calculate the cap… it would be difficult to carry all the gear for specific down scaling.

Truth is, things are still supposed to be difficult even if you outlevel the content.. I like the idea that I could go to the plains of ashford and get my butt handed to me if I mess around and don’t take things seriously.

WvW’s jumping puzzle is awesome if you don’t get people ganking you (though, with free blueprints, gear and badges… it’s worth it)

Thinking about it, that puzzle is actually kind of easy once you figure it out and the jumps are slightly forgiving (just carry a swiftness in some cases)…. platforms are kind of big enough to do REAL close range engagements if such would happen.

Carry a knockback… that’s the real deal to that one though if other’s arn’t playing friendly ;P

Profession/Race combos

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: RolandDaemon.7268

RolandDaemon.7268

I want to say that while some races might FEEL like they’re geared towards one class than another, this isn’t the case. The racial skills can sometimes be much weaker than a counter part.

I play a charr warrior and I found out one of the racial skills of a charr does the same thing as another warrior utility skill.

The Charr Roar (I don’t remember the name of the skill off the top of my head) is a much ‘weaker’ version of ‘For Great Justice’. It’s only weaker because I believe it doesn’t count as a shout and can’t be modified by traits and it lasts a couple seconds shorter than “FGJ”. Yes, the buffs could stack… but I think having two of the same utility skill is redundant when there’s so many other things I COULD get that would make my warrior more useful.

TL;DR. Yeah, the FEEL of races might be geared towards a class more than another, but generally the class skills are SO much better than racial skills.

Oh god, Troll’s Run is correctly named. Going through that with a full size (max height) charr was a trial in patience on my end (here’s hoping Anet comes out with camera fixes/changes in the coming months ^^; )

But yeah, the LA Jumping puzzles were pretty cool… there are some REALLY cool ones out there… not looking forward to finding the Jumping puzzle that’s apparently AFTER ANOTHER jumping puzzle.

So. What’s your favorite?

Mine is one I found somewhere in Lornar’s Pass called Griffonrook Run.

Here’s a screenshot of the GENERAL idea of what you do here.

http://i.imgur.com/Q6mFE.jpg

I’m not saying where because this place will never be found unless you KNEW it was somewhere around the area. (There’s an npc somewhere in Lornar’s that will give you a hint on where its at.. and I must say Anet… You do know how to hide an entrance)

Shame the npc didn’t give the bombs when I found her… but atleast it gave me time to figure out how to get through this area.
