So, I got the beta portal, but there is a problem – I temporarily lost access to the e-mail linked to my GW2 account (I don’t have the phone number needed for verification anymore, and I didn’t notice it earlier, since I only use this e-mail for GW2). Since it takes a few business days to reset this, it’ll probably be after the beta that I’ll be able to access this e-mail again.
I wonder, do I absolutely need to check this newsletter mail to participate? Or should I kiss the beta goodbye? >_>

I agree. Not because of the difficulty, I got myself the infinite coin specifically for that, but because of the disconnects.
… Nothing feels quite as much as a punch to the gut as disconnecting an hour into the zone.
I’ve been running S/D for a long time now and I’m getting a little bit tired of it. I used to do D/D before that, but I never really gave staff a good try. Plus I think staves look cool. I keep hearing about how bad staff is, but say I just wanted to do some casual PvE, aka events, running around and doing world completion… is there a viable staff build?
Has anyone else ever felt they’re happy with pretty much everything else about their character but the eye color? Because that’s my predicament right now. I want to change it, but at the same time it feels kind of like a waste to buy a whole makeover kit just for the eyes. Or alternatively how about adding that option to the hairstyle kit?
Hell yes, if it wasn’t for Mr Potatoes I wouldn’t give two kittens about Guild Wars lore.
Same here, though I asked my friends with asura chars and they said they didn’t notice anything like this…
I’m no computer expert, but it seems pretty normal to me. You can always check the temperatures with a program like SpeedFan (though those tend to not always be very accurate) and see if the temperatures don’t rise too high, but yes, GW2 is a pretty computer-intensive game and it should be normal for the PC to get warm when playing.
I played a completely white charr with red eyes in the beta, because I’m obsessed with albino animals, but due to the prevalence of white charr I decided to go with gray/black for my actual char:

Her coat color is based off those (called Egyptian Mau, iirc), just with stripes instead of dots:

There’s also a little quirk to my char – you can’t see it clearly in the picture, but her eyes are almost completely white, with the pupils just barely visible when you zoom in on the face – I’m roleplaying a blind charr. Though there aren’t any options to accomodate this in-game, so it’s just a little backstory I made up in my head c:
>_<
Rule #1 don’t pug.…that’s it.
How the hell are you supposed to get a group when you don’t have 4 people you know to go with you then?
And yes, I’m in a pretty active guild, but it still doesn’t mean there will always be people willing to go into a dungeon with me when I actually have the time to do so, or that there will be people to run a particular dungeon that isn’t CoF path 1 or 2.
Enlighten me.
Loved all the new areas – the Labirynth, the Clock Tower was amazingly fun, the Lion’s Arch decorations look amazing. Reaper’s Rumble is pvp with a fun twist, but sadly I found Lunatic Inquisition rather boring. The mini dungeon was also fun. And for an achievement hoarder like me looking for pumpkins is also a lot of fun.
Asura Ele, if all my traits were working while in the tower then I must’ve had at least +50% speed boost. People were msging me asking why my char was so fast, lol.
Loved the puzzle.
I’m an Ele and I’ve got the same issue. Though Eles would use a buff, yes.
Tengu and kodan sound awesome, of course, so do largos. While I adore skritt, I can’t imagine them as a playable race, considering a single skritt is dumb as a rock. I think I’d like to try a centaur, simply because I’ve never seen a quadrupedal race in a MMO.
Or quaggan. They’re adorable. But I can’t see them working as playable races either.
I think Zojja actually explains that in one of the personal story lines – the Inquest may be everything you described: liars, murderers, thieves, but their inventions are genius, which is why the Arcane Council decided to keep them around. Even if a lot of the asura don’t tolerate the Inquest, well, I guess the Council still has the last word in this matter.
What better way of doing this could there be? I think it’s awesome to have a growing palette of colors at your disposal and the ability to mix and match them at any time.
“what is the point in leveling at all if they just scale you to whatever level they see fit?”
Well um… I might not be 100% correct on that, but you do keep your trait and armor effects, so being a higher level will still give you an adventage
Yeah, same thing happening here, I noticed it while trying to make a new asura.
“Once a heart is completed, players are rewarded with experience and receive mail from an NPC expressing gratitude and containing money.” <- From the official wiki. It says nothing about karma. I also don’t remember gaining karma from hearts in beta, but it could be just my memory failing me. Are the people you talked to really gaining karma from hearts or did they mistook them for DEs?
What Braiks said and also you don’t get a medal popup when you complete a heart. Just some exp and a popup that lets you know you finished it.
Or is it just me?

I don’t know about the stats, but the t3 asura light armor looks amazing. I’ll definitely be trying to get it.
I know linking a video isn’t terribly helpful, but I can’t really offer any advice of my own, as I’ve only reached lvl 34 on my Ele. But here it is:
Skip to 11min-something for the build. It basically revolves around having various boons on at all times acquired by using cantrips and auras and the traits that give you boons when using them. The guy is using D/D. I don’t know how well it’d improve your survivability, but it seemed liked an interesting idea to me so I tried something similar to this in PvP and it seemed to work well.
My specs:
PC
AMD Phenom II x4 945 3.0ghz
Geforce GTX 460 768MB
4GB RAM
It’s not exactly fantastic, but it handles all new games well, though not necessarily at highest settings. Averaging about 50 FPS in GW2 with everything but shadows set to high.
Nah, I’m just about to make a charr Mesmer myself and for that exact reason – I haven’t seen many around!
