The guild Zboojcerze [THUG] is recruiting! Are you a GW2 newcomer?- it doesn’t matter – we will help you. Have you been playing since beta? Cool! We draw new trolls in to our group. You decide what you like to do, we support you and give backup plan! Sounds fair? If so, join us!
We are a new and still quite small guild, but made of friends, and friends are what we are looking for. We understand that there are many people coming to and going out from a guild everyday. It doesn’t matter if we have 100+ members. The most important for us is those, lets say, 25-30 people who build the guild, who want to play together and who want to get involve in our community.
The most important for us is so-called ‘FUN’, which can only be achieved together. We can’t forget about all GW2 features which are: PvE, sPvP, WvW, role play and others. Although we play on many different levels, doing everything that game has to offer, but our personal favorite will always be spvp. We help each other and never leave anyone behind as long as that person accept and follow our rules. We are not just looking for new members, but for friends that we can spend a great time with. Come on, let’s have some fun!

Oh… what about my all resilient and mighty infusions? Can I make them higher, or I have to delete them now for higher AR? That costed me a lot of cash just to be ascended to the highest level :x
I will also add my S/D build here then!
I’m playing Slayer traits too (0/20/30/20/0), but quite other ones do I use. There are lots of qq on forum about sitting in stealth. OK then, let’s just enter, leave and reenter the stealth for the additional things!
I start fight with 2 (to have easy wayback if problems), AA and CnD if: have a condi, or, need an AoE blind, or, have a daze or another blind on demand, or just disappear. Mostly I make 1 chain of AA, CnD, 1 chain of AA, CnD. In PvE it ends with perma-blind, and big weakness and cripple.
Should I tell you the usefulness of signets I chose? I hope not!
And now Shadow Refuge is now the immortality button. Cloaked in Shadow gives AoE blind per stealth. I stealth myself for 4 times so I blind 5 targets within close range while under iHouse. They want me die by AoE, oh really? Guys – you can’t see me anymore!
I also use SR for healing (shortbow combo – leeching), renewing my ini (traited) or loosing condis (by patient sitting under the house ;x), or still to run away.
Dagger Storm + signet of malice = surviving the zerg fight. (up to 1,5k healing/sec)
Usage of signet of malice for vigor to run away! Lots of dodges (dodges = swiftness)
Won’t tell you more, try it, love it
Hi,
I love recent changes to the DS UI, but sometimes I miss the old times and old UI graphics of DS. Can we just have a chance, a possibility to change the UI once to the new one, and once to old one? Even with loosing the torment skill – I would love to feel the walking dead guy (erm, downed) again!
A bow for Carrion Condimancers (and Nemesis with his Condimancer with big blood magic trait line :P). I somehow like it, but already got 5 sets of armor with me, and I will stick with my Rabid :P. Maybe someday (because I already use vampirism on my PTV armor).
Right, spoj. Now, when I understood it I just miss SR trait with Locust Swarm at 25% of health ;<.
Aphix – always when I think of a WvW I imagine defending a tower. They rush in me and I have a place of maybe 400 radius. If you stack 50 foes in a place – then all your LB hits all targets (like after Guardian GS5 pull, you still can hit all foes). Your target is to deal damage. Why we shouldn’t exit DS? Because then we got 10 sec CD, that we can easily dodge.
Spectral wall gives my team protection, chaos armor and big CC by fearing those who want enter the tower (chaos armor = bestly gives blind to foes, and prot to you). Also gives me 4% LF for each foe struck.
Spectral Armor is a must for second entering in DS after first WH5 when you will be kicked too fast from it. Spectral Walk is just for trolling, that is useful to kill 3 guys who don’t know what it is and want to chase me. Also remember it gives me some of mobility, big swiftness that works in DS and Lich Form (and in LF protects me from boon stripping my stability). Lich Form gives me what I loose by not having wells in my utilities – Lich Form 5, Grim Specter. Also LF3 for CC – AoE chill and knockdown. And best – 1,200 AutoAttack hitting for 600 range DS.
Well of Power – 5 conditions down from 5 friends = 25 condis max.
Well of Corruption – 5 boons converted from foes = 25 boons max.
Grim Specter – can cleanse 12 conditions from 5 allies = 60 condis down
and can strip 9 boons from 5 foes = 45 boons stripped.
Overally is 105 to 50 in converting so Lich Form to me is much useful than Plague as far as your the damaging guy here.

Here, I made a topic about a toughy necro with big LF generation and high Lifeblast hits.
If you want the build here it is: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNBHhZakRrbPbTcjhPhAp49qlIFIzyQ9AeWnPE-jgyAYshIi0wIIBiyAmALiGbboIasabMlbS1vRWFDIFQEjBA-e
And in the topic there are tips how to use it.
Collecting my own berserker gear, but must admit that melee train have to be tough. Well – maybe the 22,5% LF/per sec generation is enough to beat the foe zerg hits
I’m actually using this same trait spread too. Though I just find myself using Foot in the Grave for WvW or harder pve stuff. It’s just more comfortable that way so I can charge into the front.
I used pack runes for even easier swiftness, but I might replace them with something else as I went a bit overkill for the mobility. ;p
Stability is useless, until you got 100% crit chance in DS. If you see hard stuff in PvE, just blow your WH5, enter DS and just watch how your LifeForce Bar at 100% at all time, even knocked down. The stability is for those, who are Shroud-dancing, for me. Best for Heal-o-mancer in trait spread like 0/0/10/30/30.

Well. Maybe I will shorten my Q:
Does toughness and protection lower the damage taken in DS?
For example:
Damage taken normally:
1000 / 666 with protection
Damage taken in DS:
1000 / 1000 with protection or 666?
The bold one is what I ask for (also I mean the same for toughness)
Hi,
Maybe it’s not a such hard Q, but I must ask it.
Is protection and toughness working in DS? People said months ago that only vitality work to enhance DS, and toughness not. If toughness in DS is still not working I should run berserker even in WvWvW lol
Hi!
I’m a necro and yesterday made my first legendary – Frostfang. I hoped that I will shoot with chilled lifeblasts or something, but I see shooting axes o.o…
To be honest – Lifeblast is the most beautiful projectile in the game for me, and I supposed that after achieving Frostfang it will be covered with ice shards, just like my right arm. But it’s not – so I am returning to my Maw of the kitten ed. (I do believe the same thing is with Incinerator – wouldn’t it be beautiful to throw fiery ball of life that went just from hell instead of a flaming dagger?)
Hope this will be changed in new patch, if not then I would love to have the ability to sell the Frostfang :P
To be truthful what my suggestion is – change the graphics of Lifeblast projectiles that work with legendaries PLEASE
Brullyra – yes. Fortunately Spectral Armor is instant and can use while doing anything else. Two days ago we had a big zerg fight in garri following a commander. It was the moment where I had to be melee train and it was first time when I did survive it and even killed people. Before they rushed in after destroying gate I put spectral wall, when they were in 600 range Axe3, WH5 and Spectral Armor at once and to be honest – I was immortal! Bloody, cursed death as I wanted to be. Even when they drived me down to 60% LF, I was back up in 100% in a sec or 2. So yes, this is the build that matches me up. Big power, big toughness and additional conditions to make people cry because of touching you (also the retaliation).
Hi
Everyone is telling me that necro is not for power (no cleave, no AoE), but I love life blast hitting like a truck, survivability in DS and even more. My colleagues discourage me to use warhorn – because it’s not so useful like other offhands, but I se it best to fit my DS-based build.
I called this build for WvWvW, because of big toughness (to withstand melee), but you can use it in PvE.
I use axe because of the retaliation and the trait, staff is for long range fights, mostly to receive LF and attack with life blast and marks using as traps.
Pros:
- high survivability and mobility, also CC
- big raw damage and condition damage, due to uptime of bleeds not c damage and c duration (even more with might)
- piercing weapon giving might, vuln to foes
- able to survive all zerg fight in DS!
- 3s daze
- able to give chaos armor and lots of confusion!
- even being interrupted and knocked down you can be still alive!
Cons:
- using healing of people even not being healed
- easy to counter in 1v1 encounter :x (if out of spectral armors)
What is the thing? Before the patch only locust swarm was able to generate LF in DS. We have to understand that WH5 is offensive LF generation, and spectral skills are defensive.
Locust Swarm with Gluttony (even with 5% instead of 10%, before the patches) gives 1,5% of LF for each foe struck. It’s 7,5% LF/sec. With Reaper’s Precision with biggest luck in DS (in this build you got 100% crit chance in DS) it’s another 7,5 LF/sec + another 7,5% while transfusion or attacking 5 targets with life blast. It’s 22,5% LF per sec! That’s just wow.
So, before the foes come I put Spectral Wall to receive LF at least up to 50% and to make some chaos with fear, blast it with Staff4 for some Chaos Armor, turn to Axe+WH, Axe3 for retaliation, daze and WH5, Spectral armor if it’s hard, enter DS, hit DS5 +DS4, then autoattack with blasts. With these traits my cd from warhorns will be ready before I run down with my life force.
Damage outputs:
-retaliation
-bleeds from barbed precision and crits in DS
-Locust Swarm PBAoE “autoattack”
-LifeBlast <3
And the main thing – never, never, NEVER leave DS. Only enter it, trust me. Maybe only when there are no foes, or there will be no fight in 10secs time. But from now – it’s your true and only form.
Let the discussion begin – what do you think about it? Because I just love it
No. If you have got problems with LF in melee DS – use WH.
Hi,
I know that in PvE, WvW and in places where are many beings killed we haven’t got any problems with generating Life Force. Yeah, but what about bosses and PvP? LB is our main source of power weapon with cleave (traited), and we should use it more often, even more when now damage overflows our Life Force Pool.
Ghastly Claws should give about 50%, or at least 40%. It should be like a rising parabola, the more we can make someone undodgeable – the more LF we should receive (so necroish). Because in sPvP if someone dodge it, we don’t receive LF mostly at all.
When it comes to PvE bosses – our main source of damage is Life Blast (to power players). So we should have the ability to return fastly to DeathShroud. Also LF serves as aegis and many others. It’s why Ghastly Claws generating much LF won’t hurt anyone, and make necro at last stabilized.
Dagger3, swap and Axe2 for generating Lifeforce or DS5 and Axe2 so we will receive a sufficient amount of LF for conditioning a foe well.
I assume that rising addition of LF would be good on the skill:
1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15 = 64 % in total.
It would change the play of necro and make using DS as power tool more efficient and at last necro won’t be the DoT class only.
Heard that every class will be available to hold any weapon in the game… I wish having da hammer!
Hi,
It’s my build. Won’t lie that didn’t use the meta, but comparing items is my thing. Check it out! Love that power and toughness on WvW.
Mostly autoattack with staff + LB, when it comes to fight of zergs use Axe3, pop in DS and look how the melt and like you peel them off with that one boon, instead of multiple conditions.
Greater Marks? Not really now for me, no.
I use 30/0/10/0/30 and no need of Greater Marks, still seeing to tag 4-5 people with a little smaller radius. And the autoattack is awesome – lifeforce, damge and pop in DS
Small scale encounters – focus. Fast LF generation, big hits, vulnerability, and regen. Just awesome.
Big encounters – WH. Each locust can hit for about 500 dmg, so it’s much
The retal thing is the thing, what Anet is saying about the attrition – agreed. But to counter the blast and making skill overpowered it can have an icon, like Downed Fear, to say “ey, roll back, my tough skill is going to pop!”.
Hi,
I thought about our Unholy Feast. It should be a Blast Combo Finisher, shouldn’t it? Just thinking about the ranger’s Call of the Wild, and must to say sorry, but our Axe3 is far more of a blast than that ranger WH5 skill, really!
What is more, Unholy Feast strips a boon per each foe attacked with this skill, so it is supportive. What is more it gives retaliation, so all we need is to use power to draw sb down, Axe2 + Dark Armor can be quite tanky. But! Axe, now as one of the most supportive of our weps must have blast combo finisher. Why? I use it for a healing build, and we can receive even more retaliation and give it to our folks. (Well of Blood has light and then Axe3).
My healing build:
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNBmODbESrTPTzSjfPBIVA7pHdP+2UPKH9zB-jQCBoNCyUDBicAOLqIas1uht6KIlXRTNjIqWZDDA-e
By the way, sometimes thief can be a better healer than a guardian (ComboBlast on water with 1k HP is 3k AoE healing, quite much?). Due to his blasts with SB2 on Water combofields. And you know what? We all have been said to be good at all roles we want to take. I hope that the little blast on big explosion from Axe3 is not that much.
Ey, if it comes to finishers. Life blast is a projectile, but not a finisher. Why? It’s hurting a bit. Making it a finisher we can encourage condimancers to use LB for example to make it burning on burning combo field. Wouldn’t it be nice?
Still it’s all I know.
I want to get thru the traits “Foot in the Grave” how to use it, how to make DS powerful. Devs say that it’s still too powerful, but people don’t know how to use it, so I would love to know how to use DS properly. Not what DS is meant for – we, all necro know it.
But – where is the step forward to master the DS.
Fast hands, big boon duration and reenter for stability? No ideas, it’s why I am asking for answers – who knows all other tricks that can be done with DS.
Saw once one guy that chased the others in sPvP with DS2 (reduced cd of skills in DS) and it was effective.
Yeah my question is – how to use DS that nobody knows. How to use it in PvE, WvW, sPvP so that will change the meta. Last time even more thinking about fast hands and ticking only 1 skill. Hard fight? Pop in DS, gain stbaility and use DS4. Chasing? Pop in, click DS2 and leave.
It’s because noone knows how to refill fast LF in sPvP, maybe it’s not the problem, but the problem is in misunderstanding of the third weapon we have
Thanks for the reply
I suppose that ANet don’t want us to play mostly in conditions. Just look at the trait “Target the weak”. All of the classes need to go in damage and the thing that they heal, apply conditions or have CC is just an addition, because, let’s say those are attributes of the classes. AoE stun? Roll for a warrior and take a hammer. Curses? Go for the necro, but everytime make damage
The healing and conditions are additional
I run with those items and they synergize with each power build for me. Take a try
Hi again :P
I don’t know really how to dig in this forum (especially for the dev’s answers like “Master the Death Shroud” or “You will receive all the weapons as each class!” – where I can find it btw?), but despite of this I want to know what the devs said about our proffession mechanic and what can be done in understanding of the community to get thru the necro.
There are many topics about the necro, but this one is a topic about the only Death Shroud.
I believe that using our class mechanic as a main tree in our builds makes us good in each class. It is somehow the way we MUST go. Guardian? Boon Duration and Virtue recharge rate is just a must have! Ele? Many of them going in arcane tree. Warriors? Love the eviscerate for each 7 second cleansing from 1 to 3 condis. At Engi I also go in proffession mechanic tree for full. Why we shouldn’t go as a necro?
Another thing – why most of us stays with condis, when LB can be so much powerful? There are so many answers in game that we should play with power (Tzark at p3 in AC shooting LB, necro at AC using well with active effect of signet of spite [Use signet and go epidemic – same thing], and at cliffside fractal guys who look necromantish use focus 4 and deliver hard shots).
What is more – the dev’s said that we got 60% in DS of our Life Force Pool, and our max is 78%, where as the additional 9% of the Life Force is going in maximum in SR.
Tip:
-I know that we can use DS passively by entering it and leaving with fast hands, and lots of traits encourage us to do it (Furious Demise, Deathly Invigoration, Weakening shroud, shrouded removal, foot in the grave, Spiteful Spirit) and it’s the answer for all those who use it in defensive way. But it’s too less for me to master the necro and the Death Shroud! But Death Shiver and Deathly Perception encourage us to stay in it.
-CD of the F1 starts of the last use. When a foe leaves you with an empty life force bar, you can reenter DS very fast. (Even faster in 3W, just collect the LF from dead corpses even from your dead friends!) Used it before the patch to soak damage, used ghastly claws for the minimum 10~~11% of LF and reentered again. -> It means that we have to sit in DS as long as we can, at least 10s (or traited 7).
-Our DS says “Use nearby deaths to fill the life force bar”, if so we have to be in the middle of the fight, we can’t stay back and shoot with our scepter or Staff. It’s not the attrition we are meant to be for me. The other attrition we have is retaliation (Axe3, attack 5 people, the longest oneskill retaliation you can achieve) and works just awfully good with DS in running with the middle of the zerg, trust me. Oh, and I use Staff like a hammer and it hits like a truck for 2k mostly :P.
To be honest – would love to see here dev that is looking after the necro and read “Well, here is the answer how to master your class mechanic!” – I hope for this. All I know that we should go for condi duration and power and that is – the necro for me.
@Edit
Oh, and that little Asura in the pics of necros also holds LB for me. I suppose that weapons presented on ANet pics with classes are the answer for playing type of the class. Guardian holds mace and shield, typical for healing and it’s the best class to heal.
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/
Here you got the pics of the classes in GW2
(edited by Saschare.2049)
Ey, guys… really, no comment?
Heal-o-mancer, is it really broken? (Why necromancer has an icon of a vampire, but noone leeches health properly?)
Well, after the conclusion about boons and might I wanted to do something with stability. Thou, it can be the best stability in the internal game, really. (Apart from it that it is used to land DS4 imo). To make it work, we will need boon duration. Then I looked at regen at Staff2, and another thing – we are the class that has one of the biggest ability to achieve such AoE regen (ranged! it’s also a pro). What is more – boon duration works with Well of Power. Also works with ritual of protection. So we will need wells. If wells, we will need well of blood. Then hated by everyone healing power.
I will show you now how to use this stat on necro.
Necro does not heal others as other classes. As the only one he leeches health. (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Life_stealing)
Dark Combo field (utility wells) + Projectile Finisher (Staff1) = 202 health 0.1 per point in healing power.
Our staff hits 3 targets and has 20% to finish a combo. Let’s say that 2 hits per well will leech health. It is 6 for all used utility slots. 6×3×332 health = 5976 health in total. What is more we are very supportive in the way the wells work. Other party members can leech too. We have to remember that we can finish a combo even for 15 times (and it will be 15000~~ leeched health) or cannot finish at all. But we have to remember that leeching works like retaliation – it also consumes somebody health (so we need power and toughness, not precision nor other stats). It will be why we need stability – to stand in our wells to leech health properly!
Well of Blood provides big party heal. As same as Deathly Invigoration, DS4, Staff 2.
Vampiric Heal-o-mancer:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNBmODbESrTPTzSjfPBIVA7pHdP+2UPKH9zB-jACBoNCyUDBKLqIas1uht6KalXBRNjIqWZDDA-e
We use Staff as a main weapon. We enter and leave DS just for the healing and stability. Sometimes for big spike heal as DS4. I change into Axe and warhorn (Axe3, Warhorn5) before entering Plague for surviving big fights and spam 2, but mostly in 3W.
Necromancer is still OP, only when are mastered and should not be nerfed (because is hard to get used to new thing – combo, what is so unstable in fast game), in some cases (mostly in those not played – support based I mean, which the core is Well of Power). (There is one thing under-powered now – Deathly Invigoration. After traiting DS CD we have 2 more sec to wait but the heal was not adjusted. ;<)
Let the discuss begin!
Going further. The condition duration is compared with the power stat in Spite not with the condition dmg. And like Nemesis said before – it’s prolly for stacking vuln. OK. But as far we got other conditions let’s use them for CC, not for the damage.
To understand the way of thinking of the devs I looked at in-game necros, for example in AC dungeon. Wells with tons of many conditions (equal for us would be using Signet of Spite and Epidemic, am I right?), but no auto-attacks applying condi. Focus 4 in mages attack at cliffside Fractal and big attacks made with direct damage. Even more is telling us that we should use condis to enhance our damage and make situations to play for us, to make people think how to get rid off, mostly of the weakness that we got it at most).
Making someone weak is one step forward for us, but turning somebody’s strengths into weaknesses and our weaknesses into strengths is making the foe one step behind and letting us to make one step forward. In summary – there are two steps forward (but in GW2, there are more than 2 boons/condis to be better than somebody).
As a role of the best thing a necro can imagine (without condi dmg at all at start) is might! Imagine power-LB necro with 25 might with big hits and big bleeds, with lot’s of CC.
Second conclusion: Stacking boons on necro never was and never will be a bad idea!
Lots of condi necros don’t use LB, because it’s waste of condi dmg they can apply. But stacking might is the way. On power mancer you got already cond duration and precision but you need cond dmg – so here it is. In MIGHT. What if I tell you that you must LB to be even better power-mancer and condi-mancer? What if I tell you that you bleed to protect your chills, poisons, vulnerability and other condis and even crit hard? What if… Nevermind. Just try this build, go thru the mind-process and implicate your changes.

Hi,
I am playing necromancer since the game is on. Got used to conditions (it’s not the point of attrition that Anet is saying about I suppose, conditions are easily removed in many times and what is more – power builds make bigger dmg, even AoE in necro!), looked for power and cleave – went into tanky LF/Staff Necro (with 2,750 armor and big pops in DS (and even hits with staff auto-attack), staying many times in full duration of our proffession mechanic). All the time searching for new things and to make the play more interesting. Even apart from knowing that Life Blast is best (as far for me for the traited might, vuln and piercing) ranged wep, and one of the best attacks wholeover.
I would love to thank Nemesis for his guides, mostly for teaching me the thought-process of gaming. Due to this I could get the point and get thru the necro in my own special way :P. (Ye, I also used words “Lifeblast is our autoattack” 7 months before or more)
And especially! All the time trying to maintain to “master the deathshroud”!
After last patch we cannot use DS as Aegis, like pop Ghastly Claws, enter DS, soak up a load of damage and reenter. Thought that is the point of attrition we are meant to be. Not to make attrition on somebody in condis, but let that guy to peel us of that shield called Death Shroud. Said to myself “If there are so many condi-necros, and Anet still is telling us about mastering our class it has to be something about it!”
TIPS about the necromancer:
-CD of the F1 starts of the last use. When a foe leaves you with an empty life force bar, you can reenter DS very fast. (Even faster in 3W, just collect the LF from dead corpses even from your dead friends!) Used it before the patch to soak damage, used ghastly claws for the minimum 10~~11% of LF and reentered again. -> It means that we have to sit in DS as long as we can, at least 10s (or traited 7).
-I suppose that when we are forced to get out of DS the CD is renewed, but must look at it better, because if it is so, Necro can be a really good healer with Deathly Invigoration. As far as it wasn’t a bug.
-Warhorn is not our best gap-closer. The DS2 that is. Not only the teleport matter, but also AoE chill covered with bleeds, which I will explane later.
-Healing in DS is DS4. Big amounts of leeched LF is nice healing in the meaning of the lore of necro ;P.
But, to the topic. My thought-process into the necromancer and the gameplay. (I will speak not only about the PvE, but WvWvW and others in general, how you will get it, it’s your way ^^).
Why condition damage is a waste for me (even in the class, where maintaining all conditions is so easy in AoE matter)?
Necro needs mostly 3 stats for condis: C dmg, C duration, and precision (barbed precision). But you have to know that there are many conditions (untraited) that do not damage foes – chilled, blind, weakness, cripple, fear, immobilized, vulnerability.
So little damaging conditions (bleed, poison, burning, torment, confusion[hard to maintain but possible], fear traited) while so many non damaging. What is more – the mostly applicated condition, bleeding, is the first condition erased by skills like WoP and so on.
You will say – ey, man, but we got best thing to use with conditions – epidemic! I answer: OK, but what if your main source of damage will be deleted 2 or 3 seconds later? Next skill use will be in 12 seconds time. What is more it is hard to implement so many bleeds anywhere, and even harder when other players come with bleed-applying weps. With skills like Well of Power or other that can make condition into boon Condi-players are rather a bless for users of this skill than a curse. It’s why Well of Power is a must have for me.
I don’t say Epidemic is a rubbish, you can use it to spam chill, weakness, cripple, vuln and other great curses on many foes, but using it as a main source of dmg is a big lackluster.
First Conclusion: Condis are way more a bit of CC and bleeds are used to protect more important condis out of cleansing them of. If a foe has a bleed and poison, and he will try to cleanse himself, first he will get rid off of bleed. The one and only way to counter it is to cleanse more than 1 condition at a time.

I name this build “Strong because of your weaknesses”
Our primary weapon is not staff, nor axe but DS!
I wear full berserker, everywhere. Ruby orbs in armor, ruby trinket and so on. Stacking precision (or power, as you prefer) on staff, and AoE flame blast on axe, sigil on warhorn can be used as you like (but I use the chill on swap because of the wvw and swapping to warhorn to run away, so the chill is helping much with 3 from Axe).
Power: 3,200 – 3,500
Condition damage: 300 (from traits)
Crit chance: 55% – 65%
Crit damage: up to 95% and can be more
Health pool: about 18k (basic)
Toughness and armor: basic
The style of playing:
Many of you can ask me “Why not spending points in Spite? It’s 200 power! Why useless precision?”
Well, due to Withering Precision you make all foes that don’t deal high crit or conditions to make 50% of their damage (on PvE it’s crucial, because mobs are making glancing attacks all the time), and it’s another condition that can be cleansed first before high stack of bleeding or burning from other players on WvW (I mean here Superior Rune of Soldier, many times used by soldiers with shout builds).
Focused Rituals used for Corruption and Suffering, it depends on battle on WvW when used. Well of Corruption is beautiful on this build as far as you are far (:D) from foes. What’s more it pulses, it crits, it can weakness and it’s AoE.
Greater Marks are for unblockable thing and the philosophy of bigger marks on WvW (imagine your foe “Omg, what is it? Maybe fear mark? Or Putrid mark? Dunno!” and must run twice a big amount of foots to get over the mark). You don’t have to use it, but I fell more comfortable with this trait.
Last Gasp is a must for this build. On PvE and WvW. If the situation is hard it helps you to take a break, get less damage. Then you can put well of power or healing skill – Consume Conditions. Then Weakening shroud comes in handy, when you see it’s too hard you tap DS and make weakness to all those without crits, what makes you survive their all CC and big damage skills. Use 4 to survive “the bomb” and end your foes with Reaper’s Might and Unyielding Blast, what makes you just hit for 4k in a tank build warrior or 7k to a thief or even more with each blast. Also get out of fight somehow, to get your range as big as you can up to 900 and try to attack as many foes as you can, targeting last in your range. It will make blast get thru all foes on it way.
Vital Persistence makes you live in 50%+ LF for another 2 or 3 Life Blasts. It’s like let’s say 10k damage, and let’s hope we crit in 5 people (when they stack together it is). So this trait gives you even more might, more vulnerability, and possibility to make even 50k damage more with luck.
Well, if our Life force regaining will be changed and can get 50% LF in 5 s, I would change Greater marks to “Near to Death” making you live in DS all the time and the only glass cannon that cannot be killed, dealing all the time high damage
Have fun!
Spectral Armor, about 6s, spectral walk, maybe 8s (not in game, won’t enter and check). As far as I am glass cannon (still as I said having range of 900 and more) nobody will hit me for that far, and if so I would have been dead so far. OK, warrior came 3 or 5 hits I’m down, but nvm. I filled my DS bar for 15% LF, yay…
The thing is that when you are power built (axe is best [up to 7k damage on boss], and would be even more best when there would be logic in description of Ghastly Claws [as I have already said, look at logic of scepter and axe about gaining Life Force – this skill was made for filling our bar and get back to our true form – DS]) you need to get back to DS all the time. sPvP – kill chickens and rabbits for LF – where are they? Starting with 0% LF – my weapon. Somehow I have to fill it faster after having my first fight. FE I could already have my LF on tournament on Son of Svanir by the Ghastly Claws and get ready.
Well, some tell me “If you don’t like it, don’t play it.” “Necro is not burst dmg, is DoT!” blah blah. Well, necro for me is condition master and the damager, but in words of condition master I mean the thing how troll he can be. All for those who love this class and know that necro is the king of conditions, but don’t have to have condition damage to make big DoT (Plague Signet, Epidemic, Well of Power, well of corruption, putrid mark – in real you use the condition damage of your enemy to make their weapon to kill themselves ro make you even stronger “muahahaha” <manic screamin’>).
Let’s say, we have already put our wells, used plague signet, they have full of dot’s, we are full of boons, full of LF, time for DeathShroud! Stacking might on Spite trait up to 10 and your PIERCING (yes, when your enemy would love to use turtle strategy, you just love necro in DS) Life Blasts you just see crittin’ enemies for 4k+, gaining might, vulnerability (in my build also weakness, so say bye bye to all those not berserker builds) and all these things from 900 range.
Imagine now sPvP without deathshroud, big bosses, PvE and a lot of others. Life blast is crucial for our play and the best balance of EHP and starting 18,000HP+++ (counting DeathShroud) makes us a must to be glasscannon and know how to play it. It’s why LifeForce is so crucial to me.
P.S. We don’t need to be tank, if we can stack back our LF to 100% again in 5s. That is the essence of playing unbugged necro for me. Your normal mode is for stacking LF and make DoT control, DS for real damage.
Sure, but I mean the logic (and hope for me :P). I know now in maths it’s 8 strikes and fully gives you 8% LF, not so newbie about necro.
Look, scepter’s 3 – “Feast of Corruption” says "Strike your target, dealing additional damage and gaining !life force for each condition on them.! " Down it says 2% LF and refers to the description. I could get even 10% of LF+ on bosses full of conditions. So, if Axe is so nerfed (reffering to other threads) it should be best on power + DS build, so probably it should fastly regain Life Force. The description of Ghastly Claws says “gaining life force per strike” (same as “gaining life force for each condition”). Strikes are 8 in Ghastly Claws, so it should work the same, like with the conditions on Scepter.
Seems logic to me and with description of the skills like this.
Btw, what for would be trait making DS come back faster (5s CD DS), when in no way you can collect at least 50% of Life Force in 5s?
Remember that only we have third AA, which is Deathshroud. (Engi are similar, but they take kit and fe. throw grenades). To me DS will always be OP, even more on Power build (where LF > 50% is like 1,150 damage, where thief back damage is 1800, but normal on my thief is less than 1 DS).
As far as I am a little glass cannon and stick to backline on WvW and also pve (and deal my real damage in DS, 900 range, piercing life blasts and so on) I would love to have my staff stacking more LF (even when it’s attacking up to 3 targets). Marks are ok, because they are crucial on WvW, after like 5s when two zergs are in fight. You see all your friends in lots of conditions, put 4, to position 3 and 5, and for lil regen and bleed 2. For me it’s awesome!
But true Necrotic Grasp should be somehow else build. Well I imagine necromancer as half-dead, half-being here creature, it’s why Gluttony must be changed, or connected with changing the Staff and the Axe (instead of vulnerability I would love 5% life force per hit on AA, as far is it is 2x lower range from Staff, but stil a lil faster and the thing is to generate DS and get back to it because “That’s my true form”, and also like my necro says “I am Death incarned!” and that is true about my vision of necro.
We got trait from SR that makes us possibility to get back to DS after 5s. Would love to have 100% LF again after ALWAYS, but always can stack 20% in that time, so it has sense only in 10s (don’t counting deaths nearby, they are big deal in playgame but on WvW fe. they are resing others and mostly don’t get other LF but from skills, so must stay back, spam 1, watch for good time for marks and tap DS for my best damage).
Priority for me is having a possibility to get back fastly to DS so solving problem with Gluttony is also solving problem with staff and axe (that was mentioned in other thread). I imagine and already love now getting 8% life force from Staff attack, or 5% per attack from Axe, and that would be lovely. Deathshroud is our weapon, please give us possibility to get to it more often (in my build now can deal hit 12 attaks that pierce enemies, but only once per a big fight on WvW or after 30s, would love make returns all 10s)
Dunno if it’s too long and a bit chaotic, but I really miss that +5% for each skill used.
/Edit
Oh, “Ghastly Claws” has a definition "Summon spectral claws to slash your foe in a quick flurry of strikes, gaining life force per strike. " Should not be 8% LF for strike, so it would 8% x 8 succesful strikes = 64% LF? Before it was 4% LF per strike, but it was for full used skill. If it was 64% of LF on Ghastly Claws I’d be happy about my necro, if it’s bugged please tell me
