Ok setup automatically puts the files into C drive without even noticing me, I removed them from Program Files and then move them to my hard disk. Moved the gw2-64.exe, its working now, I don’t have to download entire game again, which is nice

Developers have to drop this shady tactics if they want to be friendly, my C drive is kitten and I have no reason to put my games there, I have big 2TB hard disk for that.

Any idea why I didnt get the browse/custom dir option during the setup? It directly leaded me to download which I have no interest to redownloading entire 25GB, because I have the gw2.dat file, also I noticed launcher is got updated GUI

just like raids in first expansion then, sounds like Anet learned nothing from their mistakes. No reason to download 25GB

Forgive me the bad grammar, however I have to ask this since they limited everything the actual game content to the first expansion, even raids required the expansion to play. so this is same too? I’m looking to return to GW2 since long time, and I’d love to get mounts to faster movement, unfortunately in game economy problems and lack of pve content ruined it for me.

all of those said features are in expansion or some of them will be available to all players as a patch?

It’s not feasible these days to put the most updated and complete game on a disc; especially with a game that keeps getting updated. I don’t think that’s a reasonable request of any game for the past 20 years— I mean they can’t just take the disc out of the box and update it every time the game gets updated. This isn’t 1995 when all the games pretty much came as is. Heck even Brood War when the online installer is used, only has the 2nd most recent patch and that’s a 20 year old game/

Discs a dying medium for storing data; just gotta be happy the installation is 100% portable and can be on an external hd , which is something I can’t say for many games.

I always save my GW2 folder now when I have to format. That is one hell of a long download. Only took one time for me to learn that lesson.

Reminds me of attempting to play on a USB smartphone tether connection with 15kb of bandwidth , all I could do was gather.

Yes, I will save it to my 1TB backup disk when I finished download. Probably take 15+ hours or so since I don’t have the best speed on the world.

Just a friendly reminder: if you try to install via disks that purchased from a store, do not bother. Setup does not even install half of the game data. Its automatically starts to download entire game from %0. I’d like to also remind you guys (devs) not everyone have a superb ultra fiber max connection, there’s many other countries in world and not everyone lives in US or UK.

Each mode (PvE, WvW, PvP) has dailies. Complete 3 in any mode to get 10 AP and 2g. I often get 2 in PvE and 1 in WvW.

Farming is always the way to get gold in an MMO, at least if your goal is to maximize. Silverwastes and “AB Multiloot” are two common ones.

Personally, no farming here. Again, how much gold do you need and what do you want it for?

Since you didn’t state what you would want gold for, it’s hard to answer directly.

You don’t get a lot of coin from mobs, but you can salvage and/or sell the drops. Many complain there are too many drops/too many containers of drops. I personally don’t grind for anything and my gold hovers around 1000. Plenty to gear up a new level 80 or whatever.

I’d say it more depends on your goals. If you are crafting something, you can work to collect what you want. Or, if you want it sooner, you buy the materials. Or some combination of the two.

You mentioned PvP, but I’m not sure exactly why. There are reward tracks there that award even ascended gear now. Again, what are your goals?

Thanks for reply, pvp is all about fast reactions against enemy players and keyboard button destroyer. I simply cannot press 10+ buttons to get a single kill in very short time.

It’s certainly easier to gain gold than ever before, but coin drops from mobs are largely the same. Grind for cash still exists, but it’s perhaps a lot less than it used to be. You also get 2g from doing your dailies.

again, most of dailies is based on pvp and I don’t like pvp. Back in day, dailies were only on based story/pve/gathering, now its all about pvp and other puzzle stuff.

can you tell me how its easier to get gold? there’s must be other ways to get gold,
I do not want to download entire 25GB data to see it myself since I have limited

Hello, last time I played GW2 there’s was heavy grind on in game money, I’m not a person who spends his/her entire week on pvp to get shiny rewards. so my question is: mobs still dropping 35-55 copper on max level? was also Trading post prices was insane was keep increasing like everyday

I want to say thank you to developers for increasing the reward rate in entire game. Its much better now and no grind at all. Let me say this I’m was playing GW2 since its released, I left a few years ago due to extreme grind on mats and all those insane prices on TP, but now I can get good amount materials and sell them to NPCs or to Trading post. This not only increases the replay value also increases the my in game economy.

I used to farm endless series of high level mobs on high level areas however its much simplier to get items now, Thank you so much for finally putting better rewards in game.
Mobs drops fairly more loot, dungeons are more easy (I dont have to die like 25 times) and map bonus is the BEST!

Since Colin left, MO has been working hard to make players happy. He sacrificed new Legendary weapons for more content. He buffed rewards so players felt love. Gave PvP a new map. And revamped WvW to make it more alive. We love Mike for all these things.

But now, months later, I need to bring up a serious question. When will the lucrative rewards end? There’s just too many ways to get loot these days. Auric Basin multi-map groups guarantee at least 20 rare drops per run. Silver Wastes runs still exist. Meta events in HoT happen all the time. Rewards are raining from the heavens. A little is good. A lot is bad.

A lot of people will not understand why I’m so against the current reward structure. On an individual level, lots of loot makes one feel really good. On a macro level, lots of loot reduces values in the economy. I personally think that in the long term, maintaining the current loot drops will be do more bad than good. Over time, the feelings of individual rewards that MO wanted players to experience will disappear. In Marketing, we call this saturation. There’s an excessive supply being generated, and the economy can’t keep up with the mats they provide when salvaged. The only way to reverse this is to increase the active player population to soak up the excess loot, or to scale back rewards.

We’ve all heard the term “Too much of a good thing”. For example, a bowl of ice cream is nice. A gallon of ice cream will send you to the hospital. Going further, water is essential for life. Drink too little, and you die. The opposite is true, where if you drink too much, you die. Rewards are water, my friends. A small trickle is all we need. A steady flow keeps us happy. A torrential flood will kill the game.

WAIT WHAT, GW2 in game rewards finally increased? WvW is more alive and level 80 mobs no longer dropping 15 copper? If yes, I can finally return to game after years.

Because game was all about playing with insane TP prices and grinding crafting mats. If that changed, and if game actually rewarding its own players, I can certainly return to game.

By the way, I’m certainly do not agree with the OP. He basically wants heavy material grinding back, dead WvW with no players and a game that makes us spend months to get a “shiny” legendary weapons. This is not fun.

I’m starting to re download GW2 client to see those beautiful rewards you mentioned in your post. And hopefully, they stay permanent this time.

When was it hard to “farm” gold? I farm most of my gold from PvP. I’ve made 50 gold this week from playing mostly PvP, and doing the Bandit daily.

perhaps I’m not good at pvp? not everyone can smash buttons to get a kill in pvp.

More grindy. Harder to earn gold (dungeons were nerfed). Good places to earn gold via PvE nowadays is: Tequatl (2 gold daily) and fractals.

last time I played level 75+ mobs was dropping 35-55 copper, is this still same?

Only reason I stopped playing GW2 because there’s no any reliable income source in any map. I mean, of course there will be challenge to collect in game currency, but the way I played a year ago was too hard, and I ended up playing with Trading Post prices , as a result I almost lost all my gold. And obviously having around 15g will not help me at all. They also killed all the trains

supply is going up, raw gold income is going down. The economy is extremely volatile.

Your absolute best move right now would be sell sell sell and then hoard gold for about a month until everything levels out, as gold is going up in value and all resources are going down.

in Edge of the Mists finding commander and trying to go to him is a disaster. If he is far away from base- you will be murdered by other teams countless times while you going to him. it happens alot to me and its really frustating,

my idea is just put a teleport item to a NPC anyone can buy that item and use it to spawn near the commander’s current location

not going to create a flame/rage thread or something, but this is the truth as far as I see.
My eotm team keep changing almost every week and if I in RED or BLUE team, then I got nothing to play because I keep getting “Outnumbered” buff which means not enough people on map, no commanders, no groups…nothing

However, If I in GREEN team then I find 4+ comms, crapton people to group with and other advantages. And now I’m in RED team and cant even find enough people to play it.

My level 52 guardian stuck at same level since days, because there’s really nothing to level up. Dungeons 80 only(keep getting kicked by group leader) already done personal quest at my level, normal regular events is not enough XP to get, pvp is only for pvp rank…

Note that I was open a thread months ago about “GW2’s beauty” but I can see now game became a grind and devs focused on pvp too much.

Correct me if I’m wrong, Eotm was the best place to level up quickly and I dont have enough time to find correct timing to join GREEN team..this is really unfair in my opinion and needs to be fixed.

I dont know how game systems/mechanics works in MMOs, so -again- correct me if I’m wrong.

My question is: my lv 80 character gets less rare mats from 10/20 mobs?(that mob drops rare mats, I checked on wiki)

and more lesser character like 50-60 level gets more (potential) rare mats from same mob?

Then later on, a totally different escort mission, which started in a different area comes along and goes, “Hey look some one dropped some beer!”

That’s more apparent in Queensdale where the vendors will run out of fruits to sell because the rabbits are eating them. Or the people next to the well are poisoned because the bandits are poisoning the water supply.

so I decided to write a small feedback about my gameplay in GW2, what I’m mostly doing in game, how I gathering money, events and other stuff.

First of all, I love MMORPG games as I’m playing these games since my childhood, I even burn some Graphic cards in past while downloading huge data files at nights. Since PC Gaming is a part of my life (main part) I spending my most time with my computer playing regular games, but MMOs have a special part in it. Because you are creating a character from start, like hairs,hair color,mouth,eyes etc. This plays a huge part of my love for MMOs, because not all games do that (except RPG/Fantasy genre).

What makes GW2 is a good MMO game?

First, there’s a amazing event system- so you dont have to kill some high mobs everytime to level up or heavy grind missions/quests. There’s a massive events in Tyria which appears like almost every 5 minutes on different locations, on different maps. This is huge advantage for us, because we can do a event and then do other one etc etc and that means faster level up.

Second, no extreme grind. All MMOs have grind quests since this is nature of this games, there’s always boring/hard things that we trying to do or trying to get. Since there’s always trolls or smart-kitten in online games(spamming HODOR is a very “effective” troll in SWTOR for a example) but you can easily get rid of them by Blocking/Ignoring the person. or reporting them. In GW2, there’s trolls too but in a good way. Good way? are you nuts?!! Yes, actually making a good joke with mature sense of humor, always ends with laugh not with a useless debate. You can many helpful people in Guild Wars 2 on many maps, there’s always experienced players in MMORPGs as well as low levels. You can ask them almost anything to get info about your foe, your event etc.

Thats it, these 3 topics is important ones for me and I’m really enjoying with GW2.

I’m mostly doing Shiverpeak Mountain train to collect items and gold, as well as some dungeons. Spending most of my gold for rare items and/or buying gems. Oh hell, how did I forget? You can preview items before buying! Since I played very old MMOs in past, there was no preview system, I’m kitten glad GW2 have this.

I cant remember how long I playing this game, but I have no regrets paying 59 bucks for once and playing forever. Of course, no subscription which amazing advantage.

I also have the same issue, I cant log in right now, but when I do game have massive lag and I dont download anything at background. I was able to log in HOURS ago and now launcher gives me 7:11 error code, server lost connection yabayabayab usual stuff.

I dont know what changed on my computer or its GW2’s problem, I have Windows 7
and were working, now I cant even log in. Launcher keep doing same little icon animation and wont let me log in,

I just spent literally more than 2 hours to reach Taimi’s place (where you pursue her
to get the device) There’s a badly designed place where you jumping onto rocks
one by one and trying to reach top, its impossible. Boons(I think this is the correct name) is very short duration and I cant correctly jump to highest top..

Now I cant able to do living story content because I cant get there, and its really
annoying. Puzzles is meant to be fun, not getting headache to do.

Hands down to Anet for developing amazing MMO, but impossible story.

the city I keep getting wrong in the far side on my country thats what I make me
worried, not 40, 50 miles. And I also keep getting same wrong city in protection

Email protection system can do mistakes? I mean my IP address is exactly correct
but where I live is wrong.. I looked up my IP from a “whats my ip” site and its entirely
correct just like I got in email confirmation. But the location making me worried,
its a city far away from my city(same country, same ISP provider)

I dont know anything about my IP static or dynamic, but I think its me because
everything is correct except location. call me paranoiac etc, I just want to make sure.
