Thanks Neural that’s what I remember it always being since launch. So pathetic cash grab it is.
Can we please talk about this?
Most people anticipated that the accessory would cost somewhere around 1 piece of legendary armor, i.e. ~300-400 gold. In reality its cost is closer to the whole set. This is completely insane considering you’ll have to craft a bunch of legendary trinkets, not just this one. There are 2 accessories, 2 rings, 1 amulet and a backpack (which already has an insane cost to it).
Please consider changing the cost to something sensible.
Also before someone says that you craft legendaries for the effect and not the utility, NO, I DON’T. There are different people in this game, imagine that. Someone wants a shiny aura, I want to swap builds and stats on fly, without having to carry a billion items in my inventory. And I’m willing to pay/grind for it, but not this much.
If you’re after overpriced shiny effects, you already have aura infusions for that. Legendaries are meant to serve a different purpose. Free stats swaps and build experimentation (which is why the trait system was changed a long time ago).
If it’s too late to change its current cost, then introduce another legendary trinket, without any effect to it, but with a sensible crafting recipe. I couldn’t care less if there’s some shiny effect going on, but I want the stat swap.
Also while we’re at it, let’s revisit the idea of ghost legendaries. After you’ve crafted a legendary item, you should be able to get an untradeable duplicate for a significantly reduced cost, so you can use it on alts. Doesn’t diminish the value/prestige of current legendaries in any way, since you still have to bind the original one to your account, it just gives you some nice quality of life.
What I want to know is, why was this fight even a … well, a fight?
We’re playing The Commander, the person that went into Mordremoth’s mind/dream, and confronted him on his own terms. We went up against the Elder Dragon of Mind, and it pulled out of us our deepest fears and regrets. And we BEAT THEM.
This? A spell cast by someone that doesn’t really know us that well at all? We should have been able to walk up to “self doubt”, grab it by the head, and give a quick twist. THAT would have fit our history better, moved the story right along, and given everyone a reminder that The Commander has seen some kitten.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
I think the idea is that elite specs are a major feature of expansions so tying the weapon choice to the spec is important. Also, every available weapon skill has to be balanced against every other; the more new weapons, the harder it gets to balance.
I can see why people want more options for the base class (or even the base class with new elite specs unlocked). That doesn’t mean it’s good for the game’s long-term health.
It might make things only slightly harder to balance, but the end result would actually be far better balance. Besides, if they are doing things correctly when they release the next expansion with it’s new elite specs, the new and the old elite specs will be equal in power, which means they already have to include the current elite spec weapons in their balance efforts to ensure that the new elite spec doesn’t outshine the old. Quite frankly, it’d be far easier to ensure both Elite specs are on par with each other if the weapons are interchangeable.
If you have a mentor tag up, people see [mentor] in chat text.
Likewise, add just a small dot to show the tag color of the person if they’re tagged up.
I also like the idea of a short color name on the line in place of the word [mentor], color coding the word would still be great.

Elite Specializations - were a terrible idea
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: kdaddy.5431
Here is why i hated the elite specs and i had this opinion in beta when i wrote a few threads for WvW and PvP about it.
1- Boons
I do not know why they created so much boon spam. The rev alone just gives boons with no real thought process. Warrior got a ton of boons for going into beserk mode and a elite skill to get into it which means there was gonna be constant spams.
I head butt you to go beserk, i gain might, fury, quickness. Because of another trait line i gain might on weapon swap as well as a condi clear. This means i go into beserk mode to do damage with said weapon and then out of beserk mode i will sit in shield stance so i can again go into my rotation for more boons to do the most damage while playing defensively.
That partially covers A class when it comes to boons but boons use to have to be set up now we just get it from hitting 1 button and bam 25 stacks of everything.
2- Build Diversity
No matter where you looked build diversity became worse and worse in all games modes when HOT released. It was Bunker Wars in PvP with 3 mesmers and 2 revs on 16 Pro Teams between NA and EU. It was Condi Wars in WvW where classes played condi so necros could play epi off of them killing whole zergs in seconds with no counter play.
Now usually PvE is play what you want but not in HOT. The key to playing HOT is AOE and playing CC. Its why people complained about pocket raptors or X vet boss. I for one dont consider this skilled game play and i find it as acheap trick into forcing most players to play the same skills.
For raids you have seen the lack of creativity with revs, engys. thieves, necros and guardians not even having a role for the meta. At 1 point it was 2 mesmers, 2 warriors, 4 eles and 2 druids. You join a pug group and this was the team comp everyone wanted because it was easy play with very few down sides.
3- The introduction of Elite Specs
Bringing elite specs into a game that has been working very well for 4-5 years you would think Anet would allow its PvP players and WvW players to work towards elite specs.
Anet didnt do to include other game modes with the new abilities. This drove alot of people crazy at the start of HOT and/or players who paly multiple chracters and have to unlock it on each character.
4- The Future
Many have touched on this but Anet straight up ran out of ideas to me when they brought in HOT. Adding class specific traits so a class can use a weapon in that trait line is really dumb.
They needed to add new weapons in this HOT expansion so they werent just giving classes new toys to play with. We are getting to the point were engys have weapon kits they dont use and the next weapon coming out might be grenades. Like for ele who has elemental weapons (which they nerfed to the ground) such as axes, hammer and Greatsword. They are now simply going to give ele a sword, this just shows a lack of ability to incorporate new things into the game.
You need weapons that give meaningful changes to a class. This HOT expansion gave us spam especially on classes like thief with 5 dodge 5 and dodge. Who at Anet thought staff spams was a good idea? Or the DH traps F3- F1 pull into traps.
Elite specs shouldnt have been the be all end all, they needed to add to potentially different styles of game play in zergs, 5 man teams and 1 vs X situations in PvE.
Because they couldnt balance specs classes lost the identities they had for 4-5 years. Players were happy with the state of the classes before HOT, the only people happy now are those who really like raiding.
Anet dropped the ball hard imo for HOT, if they do the same for the next expansion many will not have a reason to play it.
Side note the story of GW2 has gone full GW2 EX-Machina please get that back on track for the next expansion
Yeah, they’ve been trying a little too hard to get us to play ‘their way’ as of late. Pretty much everything that players genuinely enjoy – from the good old dungeon farming days right down to the AB multi map – seems to be at odds with their design goals (and probably revenue stream).
It’s probably a big part of why MMOs aren’t as successful as they used to be. Since the sub-based model is no longer as viable, developers have been making their games suck just enough that you need to spend cash to really enjoy them, but not so much that you want to quit. It’s a fine line.
An hour of Silverwastes doesn’t give 35 gold. And that’s not enough to do a kitten thing with leather, anyway.
If the economist wasn’t stupid, he’d see that equalizing refinement and crafting between leather and cloth would equalize the values, since Leather and Cloth are acquired via the same means. Sure, there are a bit of value discrepency through demand between classes, and a few excess material sinks in the form of minor crafting projects like Mawdry, but it would quickly balance out, and provide a decent sink alone for any excess.
The Psychologist B F Skinner and in fact the entire branch of Psychology ‘behaviourism’ is partly to blame for this – it simplifies humans down to a mechanical level, it thinks because a rat in a box that’s starving will ‘appear’ to enjoy pressing a button to get food that this reaction can be also be manipulated in Humans – its called Skinner box.
Gamer developers have gone all in on this theory because it allows lazy game making – they think that simply opening a box gives enough fulfilment in itself that whats inside the box doesn’t matter.
I hate it, and behaviourists and economists who also see humans in simple terms of ‘commodity’ and simplified mechanical reactions are the right arm of the devil as far as im concerned – life is tough, we don’t need this sort of kitten being applied to games that we play in our down time.
Rant over!
It would be nice if they increased the magic find cap beyond 300% from luck.
If they ever did that, they’d adjust the base drop rates so that capped ones would give the same drop changes they do now (if you think the current drop rates are not calculated around the max MF people already, you’re naive).
So, the people with new maxed MF would still get the same drops they get now, but everyone else would get less.
I don’t really want to see that.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
The essence of luck should be renamed to something else, and allow the user to invest it into
Karma up to 100%
XP Gain up to 100%
Gold Find up to 100%
Magic Find up to 300%
WxP increase up to 100%
WvW reward track gain up to100%
Spvp reward track gain up to100%
All of these could be options and just keep the values the same as they are for the Magic find so that it takes a long time to complete,
I don’t know why Anet ignore this type of thing, its like they have a spare of the moment idea, put it into the game, then forget about it completely.
Do i really have to explain why?? wow the kittens are real in the forums
Yes because ppl are failing to see why this is dumber than say other genuine problems that have cropped up like the recent visual nerf issue which has pages upon pages of complaints, for example.
This is a discussion forum, so to post on here you need to provide material for discussion.
I see no issue with the number from what i have seen. Ive seen plenty in map chat who like it.
I am one of those in the pictures. And for those of you here calling us " LOL crybabies" for wanting our precursor, i’ll state this:
Some of us have been on this map for HOURS. —HOURS--. Some have even been trying for days! Some have even had to PAY people not to attack the veterans, waiting for these events to fail. Yes. Fail. On purpose. Because that is how anet designed this part of the collection for Nevermore IV.
And for those who were not there, like some of those here in the comments shaming us for telling people to stop killing the veterans, and calling out people who admitted to us in/say they were trolling on purpose for “the lolz” we have been having to deal with trolls for -DAYS- trying to get these precursors finished that we’ve spent a lot of time working on and gold. We had about 20 or 22 max people there tonight ALL trying to get the ONE item required for the collection, and that one item requires FAILURE of the events.
Shaming us here on the forums for trying to get a precursor finished, that we’ve spent days on? For asking people to stop even if it has to be yelled and shouted? We were asking for hours upon hours nicely and politely for others to stop, we spent time sitting down with some of the new players even explaining the event and the progress of the collections. Alot of new players and F2P players joined us TRYING to help us get that one item. These players, bless them ,were so kind and apologies went out to everyone; both sides apologized. We who are trying to complete nevermore apologized to the new players just trying to complete maps, and they apologized for not knowing we were trying to do an event that should not be needed to fail to progress in the first place. And how are they suppose to know that the event needs to fail for the collection to be finished? It isnt their faults! THESE players i was glad to meet and speak to, new and veteran players, who worked together.
However, this is a FLAWED and BROKEN system! Whether you support Anet or not, this is flawed design. NONE of us tonight got the item we need, and its the last one we need for alot of us. You need to fail the events to spawn other events which the items are locked behind. And its not just us, there are entire forum topics & reddit posts talking about this event in particular. A lot of people are displeased, not just us.
And one more thing, we had people deliberately “trolling” or “griefing” whatever you want to call it. And you know what else isn’t fair? That these people, some of them openly admitting to trolling us to prevent progress, are allowed to hide behind the facade that “oh, well i am just playing the game AS ITS INTENDED”. One person even told us that they “couldnt see /say chat LOOOL” despite talking to us the entire time in say chat, and dancing on the dead body of the veteran, and us being RIGHT THERE next to them, with GIANT WORD BUBBLES saying “please stop! PLEASE STOP! :C”
At the very least, some new players asked us what was going on and joined in on trying to help us. Infact, after about 3 hours and 20 minutes we succeeded the event and guess what? We got nothing. We got no reward. The reward we needed for the event, the final one, was not given to us. All our hours of attempts and stress and those who are crafting the final partof Nevermore and even new players who helped us, we got NOTHING. We were all disappointed, exhausted, and tired, and the gang dispersed and left :\
Before you start going “LEL WHINY BABIES WANT PRECURSORS WAAA” put yourself in the shoes of the individuals trying to complete this final step of they’re legendary they worked so hard on, only to be stopped by griefers and an event that NEEDS TO FAIL for YOU THE PLAYER TO SUCCEED. Though from the attitude of people on the forums ive seen, seems like there is no sympathy or relate-ability, just insults being slung all over. So i do not expect anyone to “walk in our shoes”.
This community has become so toxic, and the forums are a justifiable example of this toxicity. I am not a “self entitled elitist” player trying to walk all over new players. Nor am i a whiny baby, and neither is anyone else who has tried to do these broken events and ended up miserable and disappointed at the scenario. Anet needs to fix this, immediately. Because despite it working as intended in terms of events, your progress can be easily halted and stopped by trolls in the area doing it on purpose or if the new player happens along and completes the event. At least for the new players, they’re new. Some in the group were verbally very angry, but some others like myself tried to explain the events to people. I made a few new friends , most of them new players infact, from tonight so i got that going for me.
If you want to dispute anything i said, please feel free. But all i expect from these forums are malice filled responses and the “LEL CRYBABIES” as usual. Proceed

Apologies for the blank original post, it seems it bugged out when I tried posting it, here’s what it said:
So, I hate to be this guy but… Anet can you please, please, PLEASE stop catering exclusively to the players running a toaster and give us an option to increase visual effects (the so called visual noise)? If we can run the effects without gamebreaking results, we should have the option to do so, instead we got hit by a wave of FX reductions that turned Fireball into a spark, Gravity Well became nearly invisible after the first pulse, Dragon’s Maw became ACTUALLY invisible after the bite, and the change that occured a long time ago: Orbital Strike is pathetic.
Please, allow us the option to feel that we didn’t buy brand new and powerful hardware changes to play something a PlayStation 2 could run.
I think it has more to do with farming competing with event. People who farm do so because it’s a better source of XP. The problem is, if too many think in that way it screw the meta-event for the rest of us. If they just give events more XP they shorten the time required to get mastery. So if they don’t want that, they have to nerf what compete the meta-event: the spiders being one thing.
If A-Net wanted that, they should not put the raid-entrance in Verdant Brink, because now a lot of people are standing in front of it, waiting until their raid starts.
Really?
Come on…take your head out of the sand for a second.
We got TONS of new armor skins during the time when there was no xpac.
With HoT, we don’t need a billion skins because we got actual content.
Ever think that maybe we didn’t get skins because the devs were busy giving us:
– Entirely new zones
– New progression for every profession in the form of Elite Specializations
– An entirely new targetting/control system (action combat system)
– Massive guild halls
– Complete new crafting profession
– 3 new Legendaries
– New legendary crafting system that gives depth to the path of getting legendaries
– Gliding system with customizeable and dyable glider skins
– New WvW borderlands
– Entirely new sPvP game mode and map
– Custom PvP arenas for guild halls
– New levels of Fractals
– Motherkittening raidsI mean come on…consider for a moment what it takes to create all of that and then consider that there are at least 2 complete new armor skins (not including the new outfit that you got for free pre-release and the new outfit on the gemstore) and several new weapon skins on top of unique weapon skins and armor skin for Elite Specializations.
If this dissappoints you, don’t ever expect to be impressed by anything a developer will come out with.
I logged on purely to rebuke you.
Let’s look into the past, to guild wars first expansion, Factions.
Entirely new zones: Hell, factions got an ENTIRE CONTINENT worth of zones.
New class paths aka specializations: Guild wars was a different system, they got a whole slew of new skills for every class, both normal and elite skills. And factions got 2 new classes, not just one.
New targeting/control/action system: thats a nice, but optional thing.
Massive guild halls: Guild Wars 1 already started with these in the core friggin game, and the actual “Guild Wars” in the game’s history were long and done many years before the storyline of Guild Wars actually starts yet there was an actual focus on guilds and guild halls, not present in GW2 until now.
New crafting profession: Guild wars did not have crafting, unfortunately, though you could argue that reputations “kinda” took the place where you needed so much rep to buy certain weapons and such, instead of grinding for mats you’re grinding for reputation XP.
New Legendaries and Legendary crafting system: Guild wars did not have as many tiers. Guild wars only went white, blue, purple, gold, and later green was added but was NOT more powerful, it was just reserved for “named/unique” weapons, red was also added but those were PvP only and, again, were NOT more powerful than gold. Meanwhile GW2 has white, blue, green, yellow, orange, pinkish-purple, and purple, and they all would be stronger the higher up you go.
Gliders: GW2 only thing, hell GW1 pretty much never used the Z-axis and there was only a jump EMOTE.
New WvWvW map: guild wars 2 did not have WvWvW, irrelevant, and was the change for a new map even warranted?
New sPvP game mode and maps: factions gave us new pvp modes and maps, yes.
Custom pvp arenas for guild halls: You could kinda do duels in GW1 guild halls, but I digress, I’ll give this one to GW2
New levels of fractals: A gw2 only thing, irrelevant
Raids: Who friggin cares about raids? I can’t believe how many people think they are the be-all-end-all. We had raids in GW1, they were called Urgoz’ Warren and The Deep and they were tough as balls, god I can remember spending 4-5 hours on one friggin elite instance just to get what was almost always just a gold item.
GW1 didn’t have a cash shop until some time later, like eye of the north? And even then it was quite small of a cash shop. GW2 went full blown cash shop craziness. And the black market weapons you can’t even just pay for in the shop, you have to PAY TO GAMBLE FOR THEM (yes i realize you can just get them on the exchange). I’ve opened like 2 dozen black lion chests in my years of playing this since release, and to my entire account i have 2 ticket shreds, you think I want to blow money on gambling in this game?
I’ll be perfectly honest, GW1 shows it’s age, all they had to do was keep with the spirit of GW1 but just modernize the tech and a lot of people would have been made very happy. If GW1 was re-mastered I would give real thought to just going back to that.
GW2 devs lost their balls somewhere along the way and just completely took out anything relating to factions cause, despite them wanting to be oh so progressive and diverse, the korean company that owns their kitten doesn’t like asian diversity cause they all friggin hate each other, so the idea of anything factions was just insulting to them so NO FACTIONS FOR YOU!
I noticed I started rambling so I’ll just end it here.
People being abusive in games isn’t something new, but should be a thing of the past. The time when ANet started to pay more attention to this issue was yesterday. The level of abusive behaviour in the game has reached greater magnitudes as I’ve witnessed in the last few days, especially in PVP, obviously because people think they can get away with whatever vulgar attitude.
As a paying customer I did not pay for a hostile (in-game) environment, often crowded with immature individuals.
While there is a profanity filter option in settings, many have it disabled simply because they don’t mind the occasional f* words, but the level of cussing some people demonstrate is getting out of control and requires heavy moderation.
What I propose:
1st violation: written warning
2nd violation: complete suspension of the account (based on proof)
Harsh? Not compared to how some treat others. It’s time to teach people some manners, and what better way than having them pay for their behaviour.

I see where you’re coming from but just bare with me for a second and hear me out. For a moment, lets just forget about Logan, let’s focus more on Rytlock here. Rytlock is always so aggressive with Logan, kind of like how a young boy would passively mess with a girl that he has a crush on. Honestly I believe that Rytlock has these feelings for Logan more so than Logan has these feelings for Rytlock. I think that it would be touching if – near the end of the HoT story when you rescue Logan from the pod, instead of having it so that we don’t see or hear from Logan anymore we can have it that Logan joins the fight because Rytlock runs over to his unconscious body, very concerned for his friend’s well being, and breathes heavily on his face causing Logan to wake up.
You could introduce their relationship this way, instead of breaking the current story.
In the personal story, you actually get a solid hint as to why Rytlock acts like that towards Logan.
When the Pale Tree takes you into the dream, you see members of Destiny’s Edge talking to each other. Here’s what Rytlock says:
Rytlock Brimstone: Where were you? We needed you! Snaff…I couldn’t protect him. I can still hear him screaming.
THIS is why Rytlock is so angry at Logan. He (Rytlock) failed, and a friend died screaming in fear and pain. He’s having a hard time dealing with that, and so he takes it out on the person that SHOULD have been there to protect Snaff, Logan. It’s guilt and regret, not love, that makes Rytlock lash out at him.
Yes, Rytlock has seen others die on the field of battle, but those have been soldiers. People trained to combat, who go out there knowing they may die. Snaff wasn’t a soldier, he wasn’t ready. That’s why this death was different and hit Rytlock so hard that it made him lash out at someone.
I’ve made my own share of Rytlock/Logan jokes, but the relationship there is NOT romantic.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Functioning as intended,
It’s not like we want to give them away for free.. you need to grind for it, long and hard, to make sure youdo this we made the boxes dfrop with twice the chance of a pre in the precursor drop list, so not only do you have no longer any chance for an ascneded box, IF you do got one, it means you loast another shot at a pre.
Of course we also made sure the drop rates are so low as we made crafting more rewarding by making sure you need to grind more for it as well…
Of course this has been done cause we know you all appreciated grinding. And myuch more RNG and gliding will be added to further enhance your frustration in this game.
- possible A-net answer-
/sarcasm?? I doubt it…
owns
2 full heavy asc armors (viper/ zerk)
1 full medium asc armor (zealot)
2 full light asc armors (zealot/zerk)
and a number of loose pieces.

Hi!
Please add right click menu on salvage-o-matics for
-salvage all “Salvage”
-salvage all “Blue”
-salvage all “Green”
And maybe
-salvage all “Yellow”
I already feel there is too much inventory management, too many clicks for bags and salvage (I have 8*20 slot) (especially when you play for extended period of time), and this became even worse after HoT.
Edit: Salvage all should leave everything in one piece if it is in an invisible bag, if you want to save or keep something.
Peace

There was a forum post.

Hm… I read “spend every single moment of it trying to find buckets” and thought ‘Well okay, so he tried to find them…’. Then I read “and throw down the fire” and thought he was actually putting out fires whenever he found some bucket.
But that’s just me – and I’m not a native speaker. Maybe I misunderstood something.
No comma. Trying to find buckets and throw them down on the fire means literally I’m trying to find them and I’m trying to throw them down on the fire. To be clear there needed to be another clause..at least a comma to separate the ideas.
Here’s English.
I tried to go to the market and buy bread.
No one reading this would believe you bought bread because you can’t do it until you get to the market. Since you only tried, the implication is you never made it to market and any reasonable reader would then assume you didn’t get the bread.
He tried to get a bucket and put out fires. No comma, no nothing. I had no reason to believe he found a bucket, because the actual literal English interpretation is that he never found one. And that’s how I read it.
Had I known he’s found buckets and put out fires previously instead of trying to (which implies failure unless otherwise stated), I’d not have responded the way I did.
And if the OP didn’t try to insult me for responding as I did, I wouldn’t continue responding. Learn to play the game? lol
Okay.
“We’ve provided a way of removing the RNG factor from obtaining precursors by adding collections which rely on RNG”
I’ll agree that “elite” was a terrible choice of names,
Why? As I explained above, it fits perfectly with other uses of the word “elite” in regards to character abilities.
It’s terrible because of the expectation of superior performance it evokes for many players. Off the top of my head in 30 seconds~
Secondary Specialization.
Focus Specialization.
Dedicated Specialization.
Alternate Specialization.
That language is dripping with choices that show the new options are not part of the core choices but also not inherently superior either. “Elite” was a poor choice and my eyebrows went up the very first moment I read that they were being called that.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

I will say that if they haven’t hotfixed it by now, they’re not going to start actioning accounts because of it. They may eventually fix the farm, but every day they don’t makes it less attractive for them to do so.
Also, I find it hilarious that yet another farm that breaks up “intended” play ended up in CoF. That dungeon is becoming legendary for its easy and borderline exploit farms. If I was the flame legion I’d be super embarrassed.

Omg. The hamsters are dead and they’re having to run to the pet store for more. :O
ANet may give it to you.
Doesn’t adding a CD to it completely ruin how there mechanics work? They’re supposed to only be limited by energy.
I see the future, Anet will nerf raid because lots of forum warrior QQ
This is a lot of people’s fear, and it’s rightly justified to feel this way. The same people that gave bad reviews and complained here and on reddit will do a repeat of that to trivialize Raids.
1. Raiders say that it’s absolutely necessary for as many people as possible to be incentivized to do raids.
2. Raiders say, that raids should be so hard, that only the best should be able to do them.
3. Raiders are surprised that most of the previously incentivized people find the content too hard and complain
I bet, that if Anet will listen to those complains (because at that point dissatisfied people will be in majority) raiders will be surprised as well.
Seriously, some logic and consequence here. If you do not want some content to be “trivialized” (hint: it wasn’t, it was just made a bit easier) try to avoid the situation where a huge number of casuals would have a reason to run that content. Because, in the end, casuals ountumber hardcores by a huge margin, and their displeasure has a bigger impact on the game than yours.
