Pre-Collections reveal on HoT Launchday(?)

OP you already answered you own question in the 1st paragraph “Anet has stated they wouldn´t showcase what’s in the pre-collection to prevent the crowd from panic buying/selling”
It’s to keep the rich players from gaming the system, from my understanding of the data mined new map reward system prices of mats will take a huge dive from the huge influx of mats into the economy.
Main thing is Anet wants the players to discover things in game so they try to spoil little as possible! So No!!!!

Pre-Collections reveal on HoT Launchday(?)

As soon as someone unlocks the requirements, they will be posted in Dulfy, the Wiki, and all over the web. No one that wants the information will be at a disadvantage to anyone else.
Many, many players, including me, enjoy exactly this more then anything else in this game, because it means you’ll never have to grind mindlessly, just to be competitive against other players, or to be able to join fractals, dungeons, or the new raids, whenever you feel the need to do so. If you need to be away from the game for a long time, you don’t go back with the dread feeling that you are miles away from the rest of the people in the game, and you need to grind your kitten off, just to be an competitive player again. Sorry, mate, I know many don’t like to hear this, but it sure sounds this game isnt made for you. Maybe you should take a look at the more traditional MMOs out there. As I said, enough players from the gw2 comunity like the way things are made in this direction, and its not likely Anet will change it, until this method is succesful and bring more new players every day.
Also the skills are anything, but identical to each other. Please, don’t try to reinforce your point with nonsense, because it accomplishes nothing more then discrediting your post.
This +100
/So sick of the endless gear treadmill in other mmos so that is why i love guild wars 2 + enough letters to post this
Welcome to Fashion Wars 2. We like horizontal progression in these parts. Some of us are still kind of tiffed that they added an ascended tier of gear. If you are looking for vertical progression, there are probably a hundred other MMOs that will suit you better.

I didn’t want to go back through 12 pages to be sure no one else mentioned it- I decided to level a new ele. I got a key for level 10 yesterday and for level 40 today. If I have a character without level 40 story done, I will try to get it done this week to be sure only level 10 is impacted.
Success! I got a key for level 40 story on two different characters today.
I did the opposite. I did the 40 story soon after the patch and got the 40 key. A few days later I did a new character and the 10 story, NO KEY.
I guess the level 10 key cant be the second one in the week, no matter what level the first was.
This is shocking. We realllllllllly need a response on this ArenNet, seriously. I’d be happy to just know the figures right now, considering I’ve received over 10 chests since this update and ZERO keys, with just ONE guild member out of 60+ actually getting a key drop.
Guild: Creators of Destiny Awakening [CDA] Disabled GW2 gamer; love all aspects of GW2!
Champion: Magus, Illusionist, Phantom and Shadow
What is so funny about this change , even if it’s a hard nerf those who used to run keys will continue to run keys cause it’s still the best way to use ToK.
I’d like to know when the reset occurs .
I’d like to know what’s the actual drop rate of black lion chests / keys.
I’d like to know what anet will give us to spend all those Tomes.
i’d like to know how many players did key farm and how many players play the game.
i’d like to know what was the actual impact on the market of key farming.
i’d like to know what the patch is going to change.
i’d like the community to have acces to all statisticaly usefull data.
i’d like to be able to consult the data on this changes.
I’d like more transparency from arena net.
i’d like … i should stop here, it’s pointless…

Entangle animations re-used on all staff skills 3.2.1.. goo
I really hope ranger is last because they needed time to fix the core ranger issues like spirits and stuff
I really hope that’s why Ranger was pushed off to be the last reveal. Traditionally, MMO developers give a class an overhaul and redesign many aspects when they really need it (as in, half the things are broken, have band-aids to make them work, or just plain don’t work well with the rest of the game [Ranger fits all those things! Pet/Minion AI is broken. Spirit hp has a huge band-aid buff to make them viable while the just as strong Banners don’t even have that problem, and the sword just doesn’t mesh well with the active movement of the rest of the game]). They also do it when the usual skill balance patches don’t do a thing to fix the problems (or the skill passes just end up with band-aids slapped on that change the skills so dramatically that it makes you wonder why the changes are suddenly meaningful now and weren’t done two years before the change….like the Rapid Fire fix or the Projectile speed fix).
Usually, these overhauls come during an expansion, or a major update. Now would be the time to address all these issues and redesign the Ranger for the better.
Unfortunately, the lack of comunication is there (even a simple “Hey! We’re working on it!” doesn’t exist in the Ranger forums), which makes me think we’re going to see a 30 minute presentation on the Druid, the Druid, and only the Druid specialization, and not a single actual issue with the Ranger will be addressed.
I would very much like to be proven wrong next week, but I have too many doubts to assume otherwise.
This entire thread is inane, though. There’s absolutely zero constructive about it. It’s filled with people flying off the handle for speculation that could not possibly be true if you took all of three seconds to let the little hamster wheel in your head run.
I’m as tired of waiting for fixes to either the pet AI or means that render it inconsequential as anyone. But throwing temper tantrums over categorical bullkitten doesn’t entice dialogue. It doesn’t exactly tell developers, “Oh yeah, they’re ready to have a rational talk about the limitations we have with the Ranger class.”
Scream, “YOU DON’T CARE ABOUT US” at a person enough… and guess what? Yeah… they’re gonna stop caring. It is LONG past time to pull back the reins on this community. We’re out of control.
That’s harsh bro….but, I blame the developers for their unwillingness just as much as the community…..the WHOLE community, from the overpraising White knights to the sarcastic jack-kittens like me, to the people who just hate everything and never explain why.

They didn’t save it, we’re simply a footnote not worth mentioning on our own.
You sound like you need a hug, pal.
Really! XD
Druid was the first they talked about. And the last to be revealed at a special event.
Sounds to me like something special. But please do insist negativity.
You must be new to Ranger. That’s good, it means you still have hopes and dreams and optimism.
We that have been playing Ranger for a while have to be negative, because then reality doesn’t hurt as much since we were expecting it.
You rangers get shafted by Anet constantly…are they trying to eliminate that class?
If they saved it for something special like that . . .
HYPE OVERLOAD!
They didn’t “save it”, they don’t have enough to talk about so they plopped it in as an afterthought with something else.
See, even Anet doesn’t care about rangers
~Sincerely, Scissors
Hello Devs don’t forget US !
That said i’d like to know what the drop rate will be .
[from some one who have bought a slot to start key farming 1 weak before this patch hits and who can not be refunded … (And lets remeber us , they said it was fine with the personal story patch . I call that stealing people’s money). ]

This is another dumb idea in a series of dumb ideas. People who key farm(ed) performed a valuable service for the game world.
From the player’s point of view: They kept the BL weapon skin prices in check, they kept the permanent kit prices in check, they kept the gold to gem ratio in check. They made some low-level cooking materials more desirable.
From Arenanet’s point of view: Keyfarmers spent time playing the game, bought some cooking materials or used tomes of knowledge (that could have been turned into spirit shards>MF use>gold). Sure, they did not buy 125 gems to get a key, but they spent 20-30 minutes playing a game that has severe issues with rewards and “endgame” content.
Now gem prices will rise even further (when bought with gold). Ok that’s in some way super from Arenanet’s point of view. But will this make me buy gems with money to spend it on keys? Of course not. I’ll just think more about what i actually want to buy and buy that instead.
Bottom line is, this change ruined a working circulation without providing Arenanet any benefits. Whoever bought keys with real money will keep buying it, whoever spent time key farming before, still won’t buy keys with real money.
Let me see if I understand this…
you want chest farming, or chest farming maps, or the LFG tool, one or all, nerfed or changed…
even though… literally…
both types of people get their cake
and get to eat it too…
…over and over all day
…because you have to look at LFG for 15 seconds to get EXACTLY where you want to be?
Am I understanding this correctly?!
Suggestion to ANet: when quest or event items become obsolete, either because the event is over and not going to be repeated or the quest chain objective has been completed (as in the case of the Star of Gratitude quest line), associated quest items disappear from player inventory. Bag/Bank space is premium so it would be really, really great if a feature like this could be implemented.
I know of several players who intentionally save all of these various mementos. Some items have automatically disappeared and have upset some players who hang on to such items.
I believe it would be better to simply add a red-text notice on the item’s description after an even finishes and the item no longer has any use stating:
- “This item no longer has any usefulness and is safe to destroy or sell.”
This way, players who like to hang on to things from past events can. As it is, some items cannot be gotten again and were automatically removed from player inventories. They’re almost like trophies of accomplishments and keepsakes to show “I was there” and having them get automatically destroyed would not be ideal.

I guess you haven’t gotten to the part where the Tribunes are having a cat fight over which is the best- plastic bags, cardboard boxes or laser pointers. The Iron Legion prefers laser pointers, of course. Technology and well.. lasers. The Blood Legion prefers plastic bags since they make the most noise when you attack them in the dead of night. Ash Legion prefers cardboard boxes because they make the best places to set up an ambush. You as the player must settle these differences and pick the best. I went with laser pointers. It was a tough choice though as the case for cardboard boxes was pretty compelling.
I get 10 stacks and stay around to help finish events for other people. I still rez. I’ll get what I want at the end of 4 days and you know, if I don’t get that stuff, my life will somehow continue.
Rewards in a game? The stakes are too low to change who I am for that.
I hate that attitude. It’s a GAME. Helping people does not equal altruism in real life. If you want to help the world get off your sanctimonious attitude and go help the world in real life. Helping people in game does not make you a good person. Just like PvPing does not make you a murderer.
You’re spending your time on entertainment like the rest of us. Roleplaying a good character does not actually make you a good human being. That’s just a hilarious notion.
My take on it is.
ANet has forgotten how to have fun.
They are designing events that are grind fests with low rewards. Even their holidays are grind fests. Instead of holiday related events that happen once a year and you get a different Holliday hat each year or something for doing them, it’s endlessly running around killing things to get the loot. Or no loot now as the case seems to be.
Since they’ve forgotten how to have fun, they think that grinding these events for hours over the days to get enough to tokens to BUY one reward with gold is fun.
It’s not. It’s really not.
Not only is the grind incredible and the rewards meager but they’ve completely cut the new players out of getting anything nice. The new players don’t have the dps, the waypoints, and they for sure can’t afford the gold cost of buying even if they do get enough tokens. What are they supposed to do, grind for the blossoms and then get nothing from the vendor? Who thought of this?
It’s like the devs designed the rewards with a calculator where their heart should be. Thinking first of the economy. Thinking, “how much of a gold sink can this event be”, when they should have been thinking, “how much fun can this event be?”
ANet may give it to you.
When GW2 has the reputation of being a poorly rewarding game, when the community has criticized the game for that for 3 years, when Anet devs became sensible to the problem and started to invest heavily on new reward structures… you would expect something better than what we have gotten in the past. It happens to be right the opposite.
- This game has achievements and collections. None of those systems were used to improve the rewards.
- This game is a RPG with experience points, loot and magic find. All completely ignored.
- This game has exp and magic find boosters in the gem store, that can also be obtained in-game every once and then. Yet, they have no purpose.
- This game is a MMORPG, while events take half an hour only to offer you nothing if you get disconnected.
- This game has an event reward system based on tiers that does nothing at its current implementation, while plenty of feedback has been given to improve the purpose of bronze-silver-gold rewards. No improvements were done, while event tagging continues to be a thing. Players are still punished for investing their time into any event at a time. Players are still rewarded for mindless tagging and minimal effort.
- This event was meant for new players to enjoy, yet most good rewards require a significant gold sink (plus, they can’t level their characters).
The rewards are abysmal. They are truly, truly terrible. In a genre that greatly relies on progression, sense of achievement and item collection for playing pleasure, GW2’s Mordrem Invasion is almost devoid of that. In a game that wants to value cooperation and bring new players in, Mordrem Invasion happens to be a caricature of one of GW2’s biggest design weaknesses, the rewards.
Every single reward item is insanely calculated to be as stretched and grinding as it can possible be, leaving the whole experience feel soulless, and as dry as a desert.

How about posting a screenshot of devs testing content “before” it’s dumped into game first? =P
Their QA team is outsourced. There are no testers in the arenanet studios, so they can’t take screenshots of them. They don’t exist.
Outsourced to where, Narnia?
for my part I’d say:
- the events are badly balanced – often they die too quick (people spend too much time walking and not enough fighting)
- the events are not rewarding in and of themselves – no experience or loot from enemies, no karma – they feel totally unrewarding. (heck, I remember leveling characters back when scarlet invaded)
- the events are boring – this varies from one to the next, but the catapult one’s really bad; repeated catapulting, which can take forever if someone unpracticed gets to the catapults first. to be honest, some of these feel worse than a standard tank’n’spank
- the blooms are bugged or bad – if you were lucky, you got 5 blooms at the end. I know a bug was involved here, but to what extent? was it just the not getting rewards or was it the number?
- for an event marketed so heavily around guilds, there’s no guild integration – this confuses me. the whole “it’s a good time to be in a guild” message is just plain wrong. it’s not a good time to be in a guild. being in a guild has literally no bearing on the outcome of this event whatsoever.
- For an event aimed at new players, it sure isn’t new player friendly – nice rewards – if you’ve got piles of gold. lots of events – but you’ll need waypoints to make it on time. interactive fighting – but if you’re not experienced in the game (catapult mechanics, etc) you’ll have trouble completing the event, or maybe even cause it to fail.
it kinda feels badly thought through to be honest. the one positive for me is:
- The Rewards are actually quite nice – having previously gem-store only or even unavailable items be the rewards is nice, though undermined by the above issues.
the idea of bringing these skins back into the game is nice, but doesn’t fix the implementation of the event.
overall, I feel this event needed some serious work, and was ruined by the advertising long before it ever started. (note – don’t advertise what you can’t deliver. it’s a really bad move.)
(edited by Gray.9041)
They would be stopping so many potential players if they did this. It’s a bad move all around.
Maybe ANet could offer an alternative to those that don’t want to secure their account. If the account gets hacked, they pay all Support’s expenses, the cost of the staff’s time to recover their account and reset it to before the hack. That sounds fair doesn’t ’it? Since it will be accounts that refuse the security measure that will be costing ANet this money, I bet they would prefer have an option to pay instead.
No?
ANet may give it to you.
I honestly don’t know why Anet gives content to Dulfy as early as they do
Of course you don’t – because Anet doesn’t give her that info. It comes from players.
Besides, if anyone doesn’t want to get spoiled, and would prefer to find out everything on their own, all they have to do is to not go to sites looking for walkthroughs. If thy do, and then complain, it’s only their own hypocrisy that is a problem.

Add something that shows damage dealt to bosses for example :
1) hotdog – 10 damage
2) ketchup – 9.7 damage
3) mustard – 6
4) egg – 5.5
5) bread – 5.5It’ll be pretty fun and useful
That’d be a good idea imo. It’d also be fun to add a ‘number of times downed’ column and maybe a ‘number of times dead’ column too. Just for balance I mean. A ‘total time spent rezzing others’ column might also be fun.

For consistency’s sake you report every political reference and everyone in the LGBT guild, right? It only becomes an issue if you feel the need to confront every opinion you disagree with.
I’ve never in my life reported someone for anything – even gold spam – because my time is too valuable to waste reporting people over stupid stuff, let alone write a term paper about how seeing ‘x’ religious figure in game scarred me for life. Give me a break.
Jesus, Moses, Allah, Muhammad, Ginesh, Shiva, Zues, Athena, Liberals, Republicans, Libertarians, Communists, Pro-Life, Pro-Choice, Pro-War, Anti-War, Pacifists, 1%, 99%, 49%, Tea Party, Occupy, Twitterati, Hash-tag Activists, Heterosexuals, Homosexuals, Gun-Nuts, Gun Grabbers, Obama-zombies, something about Trump… I’m getting bored.

Guardian: I will be a Dragonhunter.

Necro: We all get to hunt dragons, you know?
Mesmer: We are not RPing here, be serious.
Guardian: I really become a Dragonhunter and I get to use my Spear of Justice-
Necro: For the last time, we are not allowed to use underwater weapons on land!
Guardian: It’s not an underwater weapon, it’s my new Virtue. I also get Wings of Re-

Guardian: No no, that’s also my new Virtue, I also get a Longbow and Traps-
Necro: No class change! To think you would misunderstand this again…
Ele: Next he is going to say he can have a dragon as pet or mount!
Mesmer: Guardian, I think you’re just confused on who you want to become, and that’s coming from a Mesmer.
Necro: No, he’s just an idiot, just leave him be. Dragonhurrdurr, I swear the stupid things he comes up with sometimes… <shakes head>
