Dungeon rewards are fine, if you take an average group say it takes them 10-15 mins per path, allowing for errors etc, you can run say, AC p1/2, hotw P1, CoF P1,2 in say 90 mins, this would get you about 5-7gold + drops

I mapped fireheart rise last night with a toon who had never stepped foot in there, level 80, with 330% MF after 90 mins the map was complete, I killed everything I came across and then sold everything off, I got 5g70s ( rounded up ) 2g30s of that was from the exotic in the map completion chest, so the time spent is nearly the same,

The only people that could yield more from dungeons are maybe the elite speed clear groups, but you cannot change an entire dungeon rewards on a very very small group of people,

Furthermore, those who run the dungeons only, tend to have to buy all the Mats they need for crafting etc, thus spending the gold, where as the PvE open world player makes less gold, but gets more mats, id say on average its about the same.

I can’t even believe what I just read.

Dungeon running can barely make a fraction of the profit TP players can. And you want to reduce the already limited amount of loot we can get in game? I mean the gold reward is LIMITED to once per day. You… no. Please don’t ask for the one thing in the game that gives an okay reward to be nerfed. That’s the most absurd thing I’ve ever seen on this forum. And that counts the feeling of felankor.

Something like this?
http://youtu.be/iHxpqebW3qU

Thing’s that are bugging me:

- Dev Transparency, there’s too much silence all of a sudden, we’re basically being told nothing now
- No Precursor crafting, this should of been higher priority its basically the only endgame for some of us
- To many gemstore skins vs. in-game skin, the ratio is out of whack, it would of made sense in vertical progression system, but if the game is purely about obtaining cosmestics, where are all the skins we can EARN
- Not enough skill vs. reward vs. time content

[Suggestion] Achievement Panel

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LMSDarkX.7931

LMSDarkX.7931

Hello,

I am not sure if suggestions should go in this forum area or not, but I figured this would be a good place to start…

In a user’s achievement panel, say in [Daily and Monthly] >> [Daily] for example, players have the option to order their achievements by:

1. Tier Completion
2. Total Completion
3. Alphabetical

This is perfectly adequate for achievements such as Daily, where the total number of achieves is small. However, it becomes an issue in management when the achieves are larger, such as [Living World] >> [Festival of the Four Winds].

My suggestion is to add another filter choice that would allow and individal to either A. Only show uncompleted achievements or B. Place completed achieves at the bottom.

If others agree, please comment. Thanks and hopefully you consider my suggestion in the next patch!

Why does ArenaNet hate farming?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lishtenbird.2814

Lishtenbird.2814

And yes, a lot of farmers makes it helluva hard to buy anything valuable for any non-farming player.

I think it’s again time to quote myself from another now deceased thread:

I’m amazed at how short-sighted many people are: they’re happy at making other players suffer without understanding that those people were the ones who made their life easier by repeating monotonous task which the first players wouldn’t have to do. It’s like being happy at a limit of those dirty lousy yardmen – before seeing that they’ll have to pick up all the trash themselves now.

Fasalina, Nerelith and others who admit they haven’t studied economics, here’s a Wiki image.

The image shows an increase in supply – the price drops. When supply decreases, the price increases.

  • Let’s say we had 100 players who needed 1 charged lodestone per week each, which makes 100 lodestones per week.
  • We had 10 farmers who farmed 10 lodestones per week each, which makes 100 lodestones per week.
  • Let’s say the price got an equilibrium at around 2g.
  • After patch, we still have 100 players who need 1 charged lodestone per week each, which makes 100 lodestones per week – nothing changed.
  • After patch, the 10 farmers can only farm 5 lodestones per week.
  • When the first 50 lodestones at 2g are sold, the other 50 players still need 50 more lodestones.
  • Because they need these lodestones but can’t get them, they offer more for these lodestones – let’s say up to 4g per lodestone.
  • 10 other non-farmers see that the offers for lodestones got higher and decide to go farming.
  • Now we have 20 people farming instead of 10 people to provide enough supply of 100 lodestones per week, while players pay more for the exact same lodestones because otherwise the farmers will stop farming.

Result of the train-nerf which you’re so happy about? More people have to grind, more casual players suffer from an increase in prices. Both sides become unhappy (and eventually leave the game).

…and let’s not forget that world boss trains for ecto and Orr event farming for T6 also got nerfed.

List of 150+ QoL Features

EDIT 26 April 2014:

Unfortunately, I will not be spending my time discussing the ideas and keeping this list up to date anymore. Anyone who feels like it – you’re free to continue posting here or recreate a new thread and keep it updated. Cheers!

Here’s a list of features which would’ve let me and many other players truly “experience Guild Wars 2 as never before” ©:

1. Improved targeting system: option to display and cast AoE skills at max (“green”) distance even if cursor is out of range (particularly useful for shadowstep skills);

2. option to exclude yellow mobs from closest targets;

3. option to limit closest target to a narrow cone in front of the character (say hello to white moa at Jormag);

4. option to prioritize heaviest mobs over trash;

5. separate key to target heaviest mob (not bound by default);

6. option to always cast AoE on selected target (if it is in range);

7. option to prioritise enemies over allies when clicking to select target (Lyssa surrounded by trash and players);

8. retaining target marker on reappearing targets (Lyssa, Inquest Golem Mk II, Shatterer);

9. reworking the way in which large targets with high target point are losing focus when camera is tilted towards the grown a bit.

10. Queuing of pressed skills (so that I do not have to hold a button to get a skill cast even if I have network lags).

11. Option to turn on highly-visible cursor for aiming in zergs large-scale LS events.

12. Ability to relocate more UI elements, such as target info bar, which would allow players to see visual cues on large bosses on a 16:9 screen, as well as seeing boss buffs (retaliation/protection/condition reflection) next to their skill cooldowns.

13. Ability to relocate weapon skills.

14. Right-click on utility skill brings up skill choice pop-up (easier than aiming into a small arrow while running).

15. Option to turn the red out-of-range bar into a red/gray color tint/red cross on the skill icon.

16. Option to disable tooltips on skills (for people who use mouse to click skills).

17. Option to make buff/condition icons on target to retain their position (can be mitigated by an option to align to left/right instead of center only); an option to always display empty placeholders for boons and conditions.

18. Option to split nourishments/guild banners/bloodlust buffs/consumable timers from boons/signets/attunements, with possibility to regroup and relocate buffs from different categories.

19. Option to make buff/condition icons larger.

20. Option to turn off (or permanently collapse into tiny icons) UI elements, such as Personal Story tracker (and daily/event trackers).

21. Option to adjust camera position (higher-lower).

22. More zoom and FoV (zoom angle/perspective) options.

23. Option to hard-fix camera zoom position and make solid objects semi-transparent instead of constantly zooming in (particularly useful at jumping puzzles).

24. First-person/no character view for taking screenshots and fighting large bosses.

25. Option to change “hold right key for camera” into “click right key to toggle camera usage” (I’m running with right key pressed 90% of time).

26. Option to display player names and armour always in their respective team color instead of “blue=ally/red=enemy” in PvP and WvW. I’m totally confused every time a red enemy comes from a blue base and captures a blue point – this is a consequence of transferring from a different PvP game which always persisted team colors, and I’m sure I’m not the only one with this problem. To make it worse, /team channel is of an enemy-red colour instead of current team color.

27. Slider to adjust amount/intensity of particle effects (which make events like Risen Priestess of Dwayna look like an epileptical disco).

28. Ability to pin a bag/several items from it to be always visible – especially useful for nourishments, consumables, weapons, minis.

29. Option to display bags in 2/3 columns (displaying 18 slots in one row and 2 in another makes it too high; however 20 in a row is too wide).

30. “Compact” function compacts all items in their respective bags if bags are displayed, or compacts everything if bags are merged.

31. Fractal uncommon/rare/exotic gear boxes should work with sorting gear regardless of the order in which bags are put.

32. Invisible bags should not be filled even if placed as a top bag (because it’s where the most useful stuff is stored) unless out of space.

33. Content from invisible bags should not be displayed in Mystic Forge (dear customer support, just how many precursors do you have to manually restore each week because of this “feature”?).

34. A magical bag shared by all characters (may be a gemstore item not to conflict with bank golem).

35. Allow moving items directly from Guild Bank to Bank.

36. Allow direct stacking of items which belong to the same player in Guild Bank.

20 level 80s and counting.

It’s really sad that they have to nerf all these things to push players to buy gems instead of actually making more armor sets / weapon skins that players would want to buy.

GW1 had so many nice sets that could have made a huge profit for them.

Seems to me the devs have a knee jerk reaction to everything.

- Level 80’s only doing events in cursed shore? Nerf the event spawn time to hell.
- Now they’re in COF P1? Nerf it.
- Orr is empty and the world bosses deserted, lets add a daily reward chest.
- No one doing champion events or events that spawns lots of champions? Add champion bags. Maybe people will go back to ORR and do the temples now?
- They are farming Jormag trash for the champions? Nerf it.
- They’re still in COF P1? Nerf it again by removing shortcuts.
- Now they are farming champs in Queensdale? Nerf all champion bags.
- The train is still toxic in queensdale? convert champs not attached to an event to elites.
- Queensdale train still there? Lets make all champions veterans in starter zones.

Everytime they address something problematic (everyone in orr only, mass farming cof p1, toxic queensdale train) they always implement an overbearing solution that impacts the rest of the game. Seems to me they lack proper analysis and foresight. Heck, look at the price of ascended cloth.. way out of line with other material STILL. The price of silk and linen is ridiculous too.. so predictable as well.

Can’t they do moderate and incremental changes?

There was the event nerf.
Then the dungeon nerf.
Then the champion train nerf.
And now the crown pavilion only gives you two greens for 40 minutes of work.
And this, this really makes me doubt for what purpose all those nerfs were made
(img of the gold announcement below)

I wonder whether it has anything to do with China release? Though why to divide the two regions even if you’re planning to nerf the NA and EU version to the ground?
I know what I’m going to be told “you shouldn’t be playing for loot!”. Well what else is there at the moment? After two years every dungeon I’ve done to death. Every zone has been fully explored ten times minimum. Even with the new fractals I’ve done all of them a few hundred times. Burn out someone would say. But burn out is not the problem. The problem is where the nerfs are leading. And adds like this get me worried.
I know that I shouldn’t bother with it. After all there are a sea of other MMOs out there and I can just leave for one until this one adds something new. And I will probably do that. But what I’ve seen yesterday left such a bad taste in my mouth that I can’t keep quiet.

I don’t think you are wrong.

I have a feeling that what we are seeing is a combination of milking the current playerbase and targeting a different market on another continent that has literally hundreds of millions of people.

The China market is HUGE. Even if this is just a cashgrab strategy, they can make bank and not care if the game itself died a quick death.

Ah yes. I am sure they would be willing to put 300+ people (and friends) out of a job for some swift dollars….

You are a fool if you believe that investors wouldn’t do exactly this.

Seriously, what happened to this game? I remember a few years ago when Arenanet insisted that Guild Wars 2 would be a game with no grind, everyone could enjoy everything and people would be able to play the way they wanted.

And now, almost 2 years after launch here we are, no real content added to the game since launch, the same boring grind everyday for what ? To get skins ? So people leave the game (like I did) and then come back and see that instead of the usual thing you see in MMO’s, you know “lfg gg” you see the “5k+ only” and when you try to join a group you get kicked. It’s like you are punished for not doing the same boring thing everyday, or for not finishing the achievements of the LS. And when you finally manage to get back into the game you notice that nothing has changed, your character can’t really progress and you’re stuck doing the same thing you’ve done for almost 2 years.

I just don’t find any real reason to play, I want to find something worth doing but nothing is really interesting or new… Just wondering if I’m the only one feeling this way…

Arenanet doesn’t like to have rewarding content because it makes people less likely to buy stuff from the gem store.

Quoted for truth.

Shame but true.

Think this patch might have been the straw that broke the camels back for me.

So much wasted potential with this game but in its current form it simple is becoming more and more cash shop based with less and less rewards for actually playing the game.

The definition of insanity is doing the same action over and over and expecting different results. Over a year and a half of “giving Anet time to get things right” is long enough.

The direction this game has taken is simply a cash grab with rehashed content and little to no reward for the players.

That is something I am not interested in.

Anet made decent loot appear so rarely that players became akin to starving people, desperately gorging on champion boxes in the faint hope that something appeared in them. The champ train was a symptom of player “reward starvation” and a large amount of learned helplessness. Why do complex events like tequatl and 3 headed wurm when those give next to nothing in return. Far better to simply run round in a boring circle while watching tv and to collect a hundred champ boxes in the hope of something by raw force of numbers.

GW2 is built around giving nothing and taking all our time and the culmination of this is events like the new queens gauntlet, which are the perfection of this punishing philosophy.

We learned that the mystic forge hates us. We learned that RNG hates us, but now we don’t event get drops in our events for the rng to happen in.

The game hates us – that’s how I feel at the moment and I don’t understand how it can have come to this. I want to play, but its as if I am being told to go play something else – why is this?

So what ANET is your vision about champs and farming them? What is your opinion of zerging and trains? Why encourage them through game design and then nerf?

I’m so confused??? 0_o

Been almost 2 years, and the vision that existed before release has become muddied and lacks cohesion as erratic changes are implemented with apparently no mature understanding of marketing, no obvious indication of analyzing potential consequences, and apparently aimed at no particular customer segment.

Add in no statement from ANet regarding any vision.

Not convinced one exists anymore other than the obvious need for revenue. Usually “visions” are held by business leaders, who then promote and share those visions, while ensuring that their product, or in this case, their services, act in a way that maintains the integrity of that vision.

Right now, it’s hard to get past the overriding perception that “floundering” (at multiple levels – design/business decisions) is the new “vision”.

I think this change which supposedly benefits new players, is just one more indication.

That was a good question though.

Would love to see a real answer before the very last of my interest in this game is gone.

Problems with the newly-added faces

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Weindrasi.3805

Weindrasi.3805

I am always pleased to see newly-added faces to our character creation selection. However, this update’s round of new faces has shown some troubling trends.

First and foremost, the re-use of old faces, with minor edits. While there is nothing wrong with this being done sometimes, arenanet needs to be cautious. In the past, they have cut corners with regards to character appearance. Arenanet needs to keep in mind that, while some re-used faces are fine and even desirable, this is no excuse for them to stop developing entirely new ones.

Secondly, the issue with the asuran faces. Of all the races, asura are the most androgynous. The other races have gender differences in both body AND face. Asura, on the other hand, only have facial differences—their bodies are all the same. An asura’s face is its most important trait—far more so then the other races. As such, it is very, very important to design asuran faces without cutting corners.
The fact that the new asura faces for males and females are the same isn’t okay. It’s not about gender. In fact, I like the idea of having faces that are the same across both sexes. It allows characters to not be defined by their gender. However, these faces were not added to promote gender equality. They were added because of sheer laziness. And that’s what isn’t okay—the laziness. The fact that corners are cut—and on a race where facial distinction is so vital.

And lastly, the fact that new faces were added in the first place, when the old faces are still so glitchy. Take the charr, for example. On some of the faces which were added previously, the teeth clip horribly into the face, headgear does not fit, and lip movement is glitchy. On one of the male faces, the teeth are so terrible it’s just about unusable. Before adding new faces, with the same glitch problems, arenanet needs to fix the last ones they added.

You realize the the QD train nerf isn’t the first train nerf. FGS’s changes now result in a lot of standing around waiting for champs because they grouped what’s now called ‘The Trio’. It’s not about new player experience. It’s about nerfing, pure and simple. Taking a 50,000 ft view of what’s been nerfed and what hasn’t, there’s only a few play styles that haven’t been significantly nerfed, if you disregard the constant build nerfs. Wow, I just wrote ‘nerf’ six, now seven times. Anyway, each patch brings about a player base that logs in and looks around at what remains for them to do in a game that once was wide open and free. Apparently, the current player base likes to be told, quite often, how to play the game, what’s approved play styles, and how much loot they should take in a day. Wow, I play the game to get AWAY from reality.

I don’t find GW2 dungeons fun and rarely do them. The champ train gave me a way to make money for gear without having to do something I don’t enjoy and so I find this a negative change.

If you found the train mindlessly boring then you shouldn’t have done it. I would try to make it interesting by trying to maximize my damage and try to take agro or sometimes I would heal if too many ppl were dying. If I needed to do something around the house I could and come back to the train right away. If you leave the EOTM train for any length of time its gone and you might not be able to get back to it and chasing after it won’t be easy. So you end up holding your pee in to stay with the EOTM train.

I don’t understand why so many ppl hated the champ trains. If you don’t like it don’t do it.

The Goderators have ruined this forum for me.

Well, I hope ANet removes the need to do champions for the monthly. Especially for those players who who are new to the game below level 30.

We had a new guildmate join the game, not sure how they are going to be able to do champions at a low level (if the previous requirements for numbers remains the same.)

-Chalks up just one more alienating change to a game that is getting harder to take seriously

PS: I used to help new players out in QD on at least a weekly basis, if not daily. Wondering how many complaints we will start to see regarding lack of people in those zones, even with the Megaserver. /shrug
