Taking aside responsiveness, pets still have some problems with hitting moving targets. I got thinking… we all hate sword autoattack, because we are jumping around like stupid with no real control. Why not do the same thing to pets attacks?

Huh, then ranger should be banned from PvP because of forced pet mechanic? I admit turrets are op, but the biggest problem I see now is “Fortified Turrets”. Of course the dps should be lowered on turrets, as they hit harder than engineer. Conditions aren’t really a problem, if you are able to burst them onto engi, then he will die.
Taking ranger as example, the problem is that as for ranger only viable builds are those using bows as attack weapon which use projectiles. How am I supposed to deal any dmg, when any engineer having 4 turrets is able to keep the shield 16seconds when deploying every turret one by one, and if he needs to another 4 from ulti, and shortly after another 8 from Rifle and Healing Turrets (if he destroyed them shortly after depleting their shields)? Should I run? Well that’s funny cause the PVP mode we are forced to play now don’t let us, cause we need to capture that point either we like it or not.

I don’t see why we should be forced to waste an utility/elite slot, or be forced to use specific heal skill, just to be able to use our special mechanic. I like the idea of 6 second channel which ressurects the pet, but not forcing me to waste space for a specifil skill which allows me to use my special mechanic.
Also I still can’t get used to idea that ranger is the only profession that loses something because of a special mechanic, which we aren’t able to fully control. Is there any other profession that loses anything just by having a special mechanic?
We had been robbed of estimated 30% of our dmg just because we have pets.
Do necromancers have less hp, because of deathshroud?
Do warriors do less dmg because of burst skills? Do engi because of toolbelt? Or eles?
Do guardians lose anything? Mesmers? Thieves?
The only class that is punished for having a special mechanic is Ranger.

Great Idea! Seriously there should be more ways to get back something that 3 minor traits cover. Right now its too painful to even consider Remorseless in any build and even more painful that it allows only one weapon to use this mechanic.

Change Invigorating bond to Zephyr’s speed if going for X/X/X/6/6, it should give a little boost to dps when you get a hang of it.

This is fun, when I play PVP I get disconnected or enormous lags. When I play PVE everything is perfect, besides Dry Top with again enormous lags and other high populated areas, where I get almost unnoticable half of second lags.

Please remove Skyhammer from soloq. It’s silly and annoying how much I have to keep myself from dodging some attacks because I will kill myself by accidental roll over the edge, can’t even use Lightning Reflexes because I will die rolling off the edge

Same build I came up with when I finally got to test those traits, but I use a little more defensive version.
I use signet of stone instead of muddy terrain and rune of earth. that way I get 2400 armor, to compensate for the loss of muddy terrain you can just use jungle spider. I know it immobilizes single target, but you also get access to poison.
Also for traits, Keen Edge instead of Steady Focus – i think it’s better because now it’s considered survival, so every trait works on it, and you can’t keep 100% endurace all the time.
As for weapons, sigil of air and sigil of accuracy for LB and sigil of energy and sigil of intelligence for GS (you don’t fight using gs much, just few hits, block, stun, swoop away and get back to LB)

I don’t say it shouldn’t be a fix, I’m just saying that increased arrow velocity is nice. And as for SoF I think it’s ok where it is. Or would you like to be forced to choose either it or Emphatic Bond?

After this patch I finally know now that playing Ranger is useless, so I decided to take a chill pill and play the warror. Could someone show me some directions? I’ll be playing mostly pvp and would be grafefull for some builds and tips.

Ok, but getting back to the topic. With “living story” approach I don’t think we’ll see any major releases in maybe 2 more years. Crystal Desert is where Kralkatorrik is placed and we shouldn’t be able to get to him through living story. The idea that major part of story would be put into something that lasts only 2 weeks and disappears after isn’t fun at all.

Not that it’s wrong to dislike the Archer archetype, but it’s not a good argument to say that Rangers MUST be archers because that’s the way I am used to play them. You get to be all in this game, actually-an archer, beastmaster, melee ranger, anything you wish (though I admit melee is stronger, but that’s part of the game’s design for all Professions.)

ItIsFinished.9462 that’s exactly the thing I wanted everyone to realise. Yes we have pets, but so do other classes. And yeah maybe we have a way to control our pets (which requires hard micromanagement), but if you look only at this skill which can be activated by player… it works for other classes without any problem.
Chopps, piercing arrows aren’t only available on rangers, there is also Crack Shot on warriors and Coated Bullets on Engineers (only for pistols, cause rifle has already piercing bullets)
Spotter? Have you seen Empower Allies or Strength in Numbers? It isn’t so unique.
Bringin back downed players? Battle Standard, Illusion of Life, Signet of Undeath, Signet of Mercy, Glyph of Renewal
The only unique thing in ranger class are our spirits, and they are also not so awesome.
I am not saying rangers are bad or sth (maybe not loved, but still playable). But there is something wrong with the definition of “unique mechanic” in ANet dictionary.

LS would be fine if the content would stay and not be taken away 2 weeks later. It’s bad for new players cause they end the main content and then realize that soo many things happened before then started playing and now there are 2 more dragons dead, and they didn’t even have opportunity to fight them.

From stalwart you can only gain Stalwart’s Jerkin on 39lvl story quest. As for Commando you can almost get it in PVE (i think without boots and gloves, and with only head gear not from story quests)

I know its rather hard and requires pretty big amount of skill to pull this off, but as far as I’m concerned I didn’t see nay rangers soloing dungeons.
I know Warriors, Guardians and Necromancers can do solo almost every dungeon, Elementalists and Thiefs can also do some of them and I think it’s also pretty doable as Engineer, but I didn’t hear about any rangers.
Am I wrong?

is a legend, as far as my experience with them is concerned. Never ever saw one adapt decently to a melee fight.
You just didn’t have luck meeting rangers. Before quickness change I was tanking with GS, now I am still trying to use sword.

I just finished a game on skyhammer and i pretty much kittened the rest of team, because 3/4 times I tried to enter I was either entering and suddenly getting back or I couldn’t enter at all. What the hell?

They could perhaps be a little more responsive (especially pigs/boars – these are as bad with their charge as the old drake was with it’s tail), but if you pay attention (and use F3 if it needs reminding what to do or moving out of trouble) then I can mostly get them to do what I want.
I know how F3 works, it’s just it doesn’t work well if you are in close combat (which I mainly do). Most of the time pet don’t come back straight to me, it just comes to “exact” range and wont move unless you move further away (there is a 0,5-1 sec lag in pet moving again to you)

There’s no successful competitive game that uses pure deathmatch. History is clearly on ANet’s side.
MMOs should stop to blindly imitate shooters. Instead of Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, CTF or Bomb, MMOs should offer modes that fit to the game mechanics.
WoW has CTF, also Rift and some would also. As to deathmatch, it would be fun to fight 2v2, 3v3 as in WoW Arena’s.
Then how bout King of the Hill, one capture point over which teams would have to fight/defend. It’s pretty doable and it would bring more team coordination and a “deathmatch” feeling
