As topic says, haven’t been in game for more than a year. Would be very grateful if someone could drop some links to latest efficient Staff PvE build, preferably on something like gw2skills.net to visually imagine what changed.
If there are some global changes to mechanics one should be aware of, please share too.
@rfdarko
You see, I wouldn’t have much problem if every player would be calm and relaxed. Ppl rage when party can’t get past some point. I have to admit though: GW2 has one of the most adult-behaving communities compared to other multiplayer gaming ones. Players are acting nice most of the time, mad rage or some threats in chat are very-very rare, most of the time ppl just quit but it also becomes very inconvinient, like being in the middle of the FoTM, someone leaves and if in 5-10 minutes noone comes party get disbanded.
I am rather calm person myself, I get frustrated at times, yes, but since I don’t take videogames seriously I never get really upset over something hard to complete and numerous attemts at it. Just wanna relax and play games for fun, not showoff or YOLO stuff.
I tried taking guildies or friends on runs with PUGs and this worked maybe 50% of the time. Mostly 2-3 guys simply can’t carry entire team in my experience, there are stages when all 5 or at least 4 have to do something specific on their own, and if 2 guys have no idea about it, we’re basically screwed.
Now, I’m not saying that I’m best at dugeon runs or something, I make mistakes, sometimes I forget stuff (it happens when you haven’t played for months or so) and I also noticed how painfull it is that you can’t remember some sequence, and PUGs in your team also can’t figure it out. When I have friends in voice chat It’s no problem, quick question – quick answer and all set. But playing by the book is not much fun really, I still believe if dungeon/FoTM system could be changed so random inexperienced ppl with limited communication can figure stuff out on the go it would be so much fun for everyone. I don’t say that those ‘elite’ challeges must go, just make biggest part of game’s content available for everyone and separate special high difficulty challenges for dedicated groups and guilds.
My current guild is pretty large and there are some ppl up for many activities at times, but main problem is that when I’m able to play quickly assemble team and start run is almost impossibe. I doubt there are guilds waiting for going in Dung/FoTM 24/7, and I can’t reserve time for this game and meet guys at something o’clock, I only can play when I have free time to play and that’s pretty random. I can be absent for few months or so, and only real option left for me is pugging. I’m sure many players are in my shoes on that account.
I acknowledge that this is MMO. and this genre mostly inspires group playstyle, but all events starting from LS to world boss and some massive chain events can be done ~solo with random zerg no problem.
My main point is: if there’s LFG, that means we WILL have PUGs no matter what, and either Dungeon/FoTM system must change so random ppl too could be able to do those event successfully or LFG will be useless, because using entire system dedicated to get ppl into groups for Dungeon-like events is adequate only for 3-4 paths from entire content, and that’s not good.
Some players say that community demands harder challenges, but to be honest, I have no idea what kind of challenge one can expect from stupid bots that are highly exploitable. Only real challenge can be achieved in PvP-like events when you compete against alive opponents. Major flaw of entire Dungeon system of GW2 is that it divides community into those who know how to do Dungeons and mainly exploits of each path either by guides or experienced mentors and those who do not. Proposing some random guys to watch guide for 15-30 mins on Youtube before going in is a joke, seriously… and if team wants to avoid numerous wipes and some raging there’s actually no way around it.
There’s not only me who thinks that way, there are some topics (even fresh ones) where players proposing some real workarounds to improve this system, with major part of those I mostly agree, sad that it most likely won’t be taken into account by Anet and no improvements will be done…

@laokoko
Yes, it will make life easier for me and luckily I have guardian, did runs as him when I needed to, but still can’t save the party on most occasions. There are some tricks like luring boss to a wall, stacking up and stomping living kitten from him without anyone taking any damage, some safe spots to stand and etc. There are many situations where knowing exact pattern and quickly assigning roles to everyone is crucial. There were some funny moment where two guys went to same spot, and while they were figuring who goes where our party got stomped… Similar things happen in PUGs pretty often in my experience.
@Sarahfull
Thank you for your input, Sarah, and yes, I’m pretty polite to random ppl, always say hi’s and stuff, but there are many occasions where you simply can’t spend an hour telling ppl different tactics for each particular stage on the run, it’s much more effective to say stuff on the go and there’s big flexibility (which you need) in staying online with mics on.
I just don’t understand why Anet decided to make those events so demanding to communication between players and made so hard patterns for dungeons which you must follow to the letter and run will be flawless. Almost no room to improvise and punish entire party for failure of one guy…
If you haven’t seen guide for certain FoTMs/Dung paths, there’s no way you can figure it out yourself, and also there’s party factor, some tactics change depending on group structure (classes & weapons).
Expecting every random person who goes to Dungeon knows all that is nonsense, ppl usually play PvE MMOs to relax and have fun, not memorizing level like in some old arcade games…
@Jerus
Well, for me it was actual reliance on each other the cornerstone of Dungeons/FoTM, when doing flawlessly ANY run with guildies, we simply talked to each other over the mic and there was no single problem, just like knife through butter. When I go with PUGs, I know what to do but 1 or 2 guys may be running off or aggro some mobs they shouldn’t have and entire run goes to kitten. You just can’t expect same level of communication from random ppl, and that’s what this game is begging for. You can’t pull everything off in solo, when tough mobs getting in your face everytime cause someone spams their AoE at everything they see…
In my experience success of the run relies on 90% of communication – 5% of individual skill and 5% of gear/build.
@robertul
No, it’s more like 70% chance of fail in every attempt trying to do high FoTM or hard Dungeon path with PUGs so I stopped trying.
(edited by Senticon.3452)
You didn’t get my point, I don’t want every path like CoF1, I want balanced paths, not like it is now from insane to very easy. CoF is boring and ppl doing only for farm, I don’t care about farm as I stated, I want fun, and I don’t “hate” anything.
I haven’t played GW2 in very long time but I’d really like to. I have tried some different MMO’s and well… they just suck big time in every single way compared to GW2.
I’ve spent in GW2 about 2 years (with long pauses) and while I was leveling and gearing up my 2 characters anticipating some real fun at the end of the road it was like a huge disappointment… Let me explain:
PvP or WvWvW isn’t my thing really, I mostly enjoy PvE and Dungeons/FoTM. Now big problem is: no matter how good your toon built, you absolutely need good and pretty skilled players to finish most of its content without constant wipes and pain. Some stages in FoTM above 20 is purely impossible without certain gear and very good communication (like Aetherblade Fractal fighting Mai Trin under cannon barrage). Every time doing it with PUG failed.
Some dungeons are cakewalk when others are almost impossible if everyone in the party doesn’t know exactly what to do, it’s not like one can improvise, it’s more like doing math, knowing sequences, standing in certain point at specific times and etc. Example: CoF p1 – probably easiest and fastest, never failed it in PUGs. And some HoTW or Arah which doing with PUGs is like a suicide when rewards aren’t drastically higher. I can finish CoF about 3 times (or more) while doing once Arah even in good party.
I neven had any issues and every run was fluid in FoTM or any Dungeon with my guildies or friends, but almost every run with PUGs ended up in someone ragequiting in the middle or destroing every part of gear, bashing head to the wall and unability to finish last stage of some level so all quit – no reward – wasted time.
I don’t (can’t) play for long sessions and getting ppl for Dung/FoTM run that I need is quite problematic, cause everyone has their own business and that’s ok, but why Anet made such high skillcap and forced coordination for those runs is beyond me… Sometimes you just want get in random party and have a good run, without kicking yourself over but that’s somehow not possible here.
It was pretty good news to me when LFG function was finally in and working properly, but I had use for it only finding groups for CoF or some easy TW paths which I have beaten countless times, otherwise getting in PUGs is only pain – no fun, no reward =/
I know there’s nothing can be done about it, it’s just sad… And yes, before someone states, I am casual player, I won’t have fun or ability soloing Dungeons, farming for Legendaries or full ascended (have staff for ele tho). And it’s quite frustrating that best part of the game is locked out from me like this…
That would be very good idea creating at least for Dungeon paths like p1 – easy, p2 – medium, p3 – hard with bigger rewards and etc. So with FoTM, not mixing up randomly hard with very easy ones, more complicated system would be much better IMO.
(edited by Senticon.3452)
I can agree with OP. It’s very good that season 2 focused on actual story, and not on short cutscene, few senseless phrases and weeks of zerg-grinding events. Also that system when you don’t have actual time to play and can just log-in to unlock new episode to play later is so good, I couldn’t imagine… really. Huge improvement, since I had to skip few LS season 1 just for that reason. Keep it up please!
P.S. I know that’s not the right place, but it strikes me hard that Kasmeer and Marjory are, well… lesbians? Their relationships and dialogs are soooo cute =)
According to these posts I would start worry if I were in Anet shoes… Most responders would switch elite to utility (me included), that obviously points out how useless and garbage our elites in fact are, lol.
I was considering that staff, but the only thing that stopped me was lack of power, since I need this stat as high as I can. I’m currently choosing between Zojja’s Spire and Chorben’s Spire. Dunno which is gonna be best choice since I craft this staff only once and was grinding for months to get mats…
Thank you very much, I got this.
Since Anet hammernerfed zerker by reducing % dmg output, I got pretty frustrated with my former ele build, so now I got new one based on building up might stacks and I literally reached same dmg outputs that I had before + this way I was actually able to put some stats in vitality/toughness since I don’t rely that much on presision and ferocity with this build.
Now I’m going to craft Ascended staff and I’m curious, is there any sense in creating some other staff than Zojja’s Spire or should I just choose staff with main power attribute along with vit/tgh?… Secondary stats are still pretty significant so I think maybe 134 pre/fer will give me some edge?
In dragon fest even I got shattered wings skin, used it then on my back piece, now if I get better one (higher stats) can I somehow apply shattered skin to it?
I wouldn’t ask if I had old transmutation crystals, but with new charges, I don’t quite understand the mechanic.
Say, if I salvage those wings, will I get perma-skin out of it?… Don’t wanna lose this gimmick.
Well, that’s sad… I came to know this guy since Meta update, we’ve been running in dunges PvP and other stuff pretty succesfully with good sinergy from our classes.
If I delete all my chars from my account, it’s still costs to tranfer, right?
no u dont gotta pay for xfer if u delete all toons just did this 1 month ago to start over fresh and it was free with no characters u are not bound to any server u keep your wallet and personal bank….note gbank and guild will not be accessible since it was built on your previous server u can still rep but wont have any of the buffs, builds available to you
Whow, now that’s some good news, don’t have anything valuable on my toons anyway. Thanks, gotta do it.
That’s even more sad, since I read this line in FAQ section:
“Can I change servers?
…You can also delete all characters and it will allow you to transfer for free. Your gold, bank, achievement points and titles will not be affected if you delete all characters.”
I suppose it has been changed then…

I have a friend, we are from different servers and I don’t quite understand if can we play WvWvW together. When I guest on his server or he on mine, we have different Borderlands in list. Is that even possible to do this?
First of all I want to say that I don’t and can’t play GW2 on regular basis even like once a week due to my schedule and desire. I play this game once every few months or with longer breakes and so I missed most of previous LS events. Now, I see Anet made a good point saying that for those who missed, this content will be available for 200 gems (it’s not much but grinding it with gold is impossible for me at least), so we have to pay. I’m not complaining about this, I still see it as better option than just simply miss out on content, but this makes game more of a P2P model which isn’t good, since I have bougth this game with only cosmetic transaction, not full content. To be honest it doesn’t bother me, but I just pointed out the fact.
All previous LS I have played was coming down to boss train and instant grinding. Players even tend to forget about objectives, just grinded creatures who had better loot. All real story I saw was very short meaningless dialog and some fancy 3 min cutscene. How can we honestly call grinding events “Living Story”? I have finished vanilla Story with two characters of two different races and made different choices. I cannot say that story itself was superb, but it made sense at least, it had some tale to tell, logical beginning and conclusion. By MMO standarts it is of GREAT quality, I can surely say that.
Now, it’s no brainer that new LS doesn’t come even close to this in quality + Anet is trying to charge players for it’s content. Let’s be honest: long time passed since GW2 is out and we had very small bits of true new content that stays with game, that has some quality and everyone can enjoy. I mean new weapon/armor models and territories/dungeons (FoTW). For so long ppl have stuck with same classes and abilities. Every possible combination and experimentation, as Anet claims, doesn’t work, there are still guides on few very effective builds for certain events and they don’t change that much, and they don’t try to release something like this, that really worth to pay for. I’m not against full quality addons for high price, I’m against small transactions that looks like scamming.
Since I got this game many things have changes. Few months ago I could max gear my character within several weeks with endless customization abilities. Now I just have to pay real money for the same because I simply don’t have so much time for grinding and it’s impossible to me. If I pay, I get max gear within one 1-2 days.
I wish Anet preserved game in state where you only have to pay for fancy cosmetics. I understand they maintaining this game, it requires lots of resources and time, but why they don’t want to go honest? Launch real expansion with story of the same (or close) quality as original was, with new/prestige classes, price it same as basic game and you have my dollar in day 1. Why twisting out and trying to charge for what doesn’t worth anything, spending time and money on creating useless insignificant content?…
I really don’t know where this game is going…
Thanks for info, that is really helpfull.
On the note, I have to save up higher tier mats for upgrading rest of my professions to 500, despite this is very good profit, so I’ll have to go for lower tiers. My bank is full of T1-3 mats of all kinds which I haven’t any use for anyway, but if I go for profit through volume I’ll run out of those pretty fast, so I basically looking for buying off TP mats – selling crafted stuff profit.
Anyway, thanks again, I’ll look into it.
If anyone have something to add, feel free.
Recently I looked over my characters and noticed that I have every profession to 400 (2 up to 450) and I’m really dying for gold, eventually to up rest of my professions to 500. Now, just to think of it, why would I have it all to 400 if I don’t even using crafting in this game? And I did a little math, conclusion of which wasn’t really what I expected. It appears that most of the stuff is rather cheaper to buy via Trading Post than crafting it yourself…
And I wonder, there are millions of possible crafting combinations and I really should have overlooked something. Are there any possible recipes that actually may provide some bang-for-a-buck? I’m really tired and bored of farming CoF and running boss trains, I enjoy crafting, but if it won’t give any profit than it’s useless.
I would really appreciate if someone would share some profitable crafting recipes, something that sells good on TP and gives precious gold that I need so much right now.
I’m totally agreed with OP on that matter, I don’t think we need trinity in GW2, there should be another ways, but it is true that almost every dungeon is complete mindless exploiting poorly coded AI and DPS stacking.
Every human being with any presence of slight logic will always try to walk the way of lesser resistance, that means normal player will always try maximally effective and fast way that allows enviroment. Noone in his right mind will be killing boss in normal way if he can wall stack him without being hit and melt it in few seconds.
It brings 2 very big problems in fact:
1. PUG that doesn’t know about those exploits will be wiped few times during even easiest dungeon run, and some players will ragequit leading to destroying fun and experience.
2. Players who actually want to enjoy game and face at least slight challenge can’t do that because of the group. No one will sacrifice time for one player.
Dungeon system MUST be reworked in some way, so new player have a chance to complete it normally and don’t get wiped, and every wall stacking and skipping mobs by going unintended cheesy path must be undoable or restricted in some ways.
OP’s post is just hilarious. In fact, after some events I try to avoid any party with Zerker prefix on it:
I main Ele which is almost glass cannon mixed up with some survival traits/skills. And when I joined this 4 Zerker Warrior PUG, I had to tank bosses and was doing great as it in fact, while those Zerker Warriors had to switch to bows/rifles, bc they got almost instakilled 2-3 hits. I don’t see why ppl can’t see that if you want to inflict heavy DPS you need maiximum 3 party member for it standing still and hitting hard, while Guardian sustains full damage mitigation to party and some other class making great job at crowd control not letting anyone close to DPSers. Some players are really dumb…
It didn’t get nerfed, it’s rather got balanced, but still overpopulated. Jeez… you can find TONS of parties any moment, seriously, ask around the server what dungeon ppl do most if you don’t believe me… Lol, I can’t believe the posts I’m reading here, I thought I’m captain obvious, but ppl still argue with me?…
Are there really any dungeons that done as many times and as easily in PUGs as CoF p1? Do I really missing something?
Captain Oblivious*.
Watch some videos on youtube about speed runs.
AC P1, CM P1 , SE P1, TA UP – these are fast enough, rewarding money/time investiment. Don’t forget to crate your lfg with “*P1, 80, zerker, experienced”(something like that) to get experienced players.
and good luck
Did all those paths with PUGs, 50/50 done successfully/wiped few times. CoF p1 – never wiped, once even finished with 2 guys disconnected. I really doubt there’s anything easier than CoF in my experience at least…

I’m not concerned about reward myself tbh, I don’t care if it’s 1g or 3g, but it’s obvious that CoF is overdone and that’s for the reason. Also, consider that many ppl don’t have friends online 24/7 and if I want to kill 1-3 hours and do some dunges, obvious answer is PUG, so “well organized groups” are out of the question. We need something as easy as CoF (that’s why it’s done so fast) in every dungeon where you can’t fail even with total newbs. Almost every other dungeon requires experience and knowledge of how to, CoF p1 isn’t. And for soloing Arah you need specific builds and gear, not everyone is up for it, and I have failed Arah with PUGs getting wiped every 5 minutes enough times to say it’s not fast and difinitely not so easy.
(edited by Senticon.3452)
I have done almost all dungeons (except HoTW exp and some Arah paths) and it’s no secret that most popular dungeon is CoF p1.
GW2 is MMO and everyone needs farming from time to time, and there are simply no other Dungeons that can be done so fast and easy for quick money and mats. Doing other dungeons is pretty much useless and takes lots more time, ppl mostly doing it for fun and achievements.
Why Anet can’t redo or add some paths to EVERY dungeon to introduce diversity? Everyone got tired of CoF, if there would be similar easy fast run Dungeons, it will most definitely present choice and that would be fun compared to run same path every day.
I log-in once a week or once in a month and doing CoF p1 every time is kinda sucks, but I need Empyreals, gold and etc. Why Anet still haven’t done anything about it? Isn’t that a good idea to scale every dungeon in difficulty and length with slightly different rewards? It’s funny that you get almost same amount doing some hardcore Arah path and CoF p1… I already have over 10k CoF tokens lol…
Thoughts?

What was your build before?
0/30/10/10/20 or 0/30/0/20/20. Build editor is updated and some traits have been shifted, so that won’t provide precise info if I post it here. Gear – mostly Zerker.
When I launched game after update, reassigned all traits as my old build and did some testing, my damage output was laughable… I mostly rely on crit damage, and now it’s just hammernerfed.
Don’t wanna burden you with numbers but I’m scratching my head now and have no idea how to reassamble my ele… Any suggested builds for non-condition, high damage output ele with Runes of Strength and Zerker/Power gear or it’s not possible anymore?…
What about Air Magic traits? Is that still viable somehow? Do they force to go Fire Magic traits now (tho I still haven’t found ANY trait worth getting from that line…)?
Edit: mostly speaking about PvE/WvW build.

I have played GW2 for more than year now on the same config and get green screen flicker randomly not depended on locations or anything else.
My config is:
Core i5 2400 – 3,30 GHz | 8Gb RAM | GeForce 560GTX OC 1Gb VRAMMy video drivers are always up to date and I have tried numerous versions from oldest to newest and in-between, problem never get solved this way.
At time this blinking really gets annoying and I can’t be the only person with such issues since I don’t have similar problems in any other games. Overheating can’t be the cause of it because I have enough coolers and temps don’t go beyond 75-80 C degrees at maximum loading plus I keep my rig maintained at all times. Very odd problem tbh…
Youre talking about GPU temps here, but how is your CPU temp,or even Northbridge temp ( wich can get quite hot on some mobos ) when this happens ?
CPU Core i5 2400 known as icecold one. It doesn’t tend to heat too much even in big CPU core overloads, have been playing BF4 (multi) for ~3 hours now, according to CPUID Hardware Monitor, each core temp doesn’t exceed 61 C degree, which is quite cold. I can post few reports if you like.
Also if my CPU would be melting, I’d get stuttering, freezes or shutdown, but not graphical glitches (a.k.a. artifacts) on the screen which is tend to be GPU issue in general…
CLASSES! No one got tired by playing same old characters over and over again? I have tried almost all possible combinations and it gets boring for real now… I mostly play 2 favorite classes but some extension of it would be really nice. You hit lvl 80 like in 2 weeks (very relaxed and slow way of playing) and then there’s really nothing else to level, you stuck with same skills forever… And what’s so important about China? Why EU/US players cannot enjoy new content and then release complete edition in Asia, I don’t get what’s wrong with it?
If this will go on like that till 2015 I’m not sure I’ll be around for SO LONG…
Agree, downed system + crawling only in PvE, in PvP and WvW it has no place.
I honestly don’t understand why devs don’t launch real expansions for so long with new classes/territories instead of making those free meta-events? It’s wasting time IMO and free content never can compete with high quality product + it will create some hype and draw in some new and old players who got bored and stopped playing.
Yes, I can’t certainly say it’s green or blue (or both?) but it’s really odd glitch considering GW2 isn’t that demanding game and runs most of the time on firm 60 FPS.
@Sir Kaboomski.
It’s only GW2, and I assure you, I haven’t any problems with monitor or other hardware.

When I have been working towards world completion like 1 year ago (or more) with my character. About 60-70% of territory I was “exploring” was plain empty, no living soul and that was in peak hours mostly. It’s rather wierd seeing such thing in game focused on world exploration (as it stated in GW2 description) rather than mindless grinding and endless instances like in other MMOs. From this perspective Megaserver update actually might be not a bad decision at all, but it also pointing out that devs acknowledge how game is slowly and painfully dying. And it’s going on like this for the long time already, with this new updates I just have seen proofs to my thoughts.
All my mates stopped playing this game year or 6 months ago and no one is returning back. It’s certainly not because of this “endgame content” which supposed to be endless instances farming that is stupidest thing in MMOs ever, but something else, I honestly don’t know what it is, but I cannot force myself to play this game anymore, clearly seeing that game itself doesn’t suffer from lack of content. I don’t know current and former GW2 population numbers, but it somehow feels like decreasing, even my enormously huge guild is much less active these days…
Have no idea what future for GW2 devs have in their minds. It’s clear those new updates won’t change much, seeing rage about breaking balance in every second post may even cause some outflow of playerbase.
What I personally would be glad to see in this game are some new classes (call it prestige classes if you like), the feature like GW1 had, something new. Of course it’s risky and would require loads of time to balance, but IMO it’s totally worth it. Extend specializations, completely new abilities, new perks, possibility to switch between your classes in combat if you wish like switching weapons… I would even buy this as DLC.
(edited by Senticon.3452)
I had a break from this game by 2 or 3 months (I usually do that big breakes from not only GW2), than I recently returned back to it and, erm, I have really nothing to do?…
Missed almost all events since Scarlet-something in living story, not sorry for it because I have never been fan of zerg-farming/grinding, done most of Dungeons, left only those where you can’t simply find anyone to do them with, going low level FoTM is boring and I don’t have equipment to do higher levels. All of my irl friends who have played this game stopped since Anet introduced Ascended gear. WvWvW doesn’t interest me too, because it’s pointless IMO and endless in fact… PVP in this game is quite awkward, I have better games for that, and only thing left is PvE, but its empty now for me?…
So when I logged in few days ago, I just stood there for, well… about 5 mins, having no idea what to do and just quit. =/
To be honest I’m not a big fan of MMOs, if not say the least, but I really think that GW2 is best possible game in this genre that could ever be done, I still like it in some way, and I remember how I have enjoyed it back then. I have 2 characters level 80 with 100% world completetion, but I won’t have a willpower to start another one because I definitely found class I enjoy most.
This thread may seem trivial to some players, but I ask maybe someone will point me out to how they enjoy this game, because sometimes solution can be found in most unexpected and simple ways, right?…
ArenaNet have said that what Ascended gear is now, was what exotics were supposed to be, but it didn’t end up that way at all. Exotics were far to easy to craft and/or acquire. Now, with Ascended weapons, you have to put some real work into crafting them.
If you are a casual player this gear is not for you. You won’t have the time to grind the mats needed and you won’t have a need for the gear in the first place.
Casual players aren’t running high level fractals and dungeon speed runs. They don’t min/max every little thing. We could debate what’s “casual” but this is how I see it. You’re welcome to disagree. But it seems to me ArenaNet wants these to be difficult to craft and if you’re not the kind of player who can do that, then you don’t get to complain about not having this gear. That’s like saying you deserve to have easy access to raiding gear even though you don’t have the time to raid in other games.
LoL, no, they just want your money.
I was buying gems from Anet without hesitation for things like Name Changer,
Appearance Kits, Transmutation Crystals, because those were my choices, just cosmetics, without any advantage at my side. Now, if I pay for gems, I’ll get crazy exchange rate, so I just can buy off mats from TP, and up all my professions in day 1. Getting Dragonite and Empyreal won’t be hard + 2 weeks for transmutations, but it’s still farming.
So Anet actually says this: pay me money and be help to your party = have fun,
don’t pay me money, and you won’t play game, you’ll just farm. Anyway that’s how
I see it, and, I guess, most of those who posted here.
I won’t pay for this to Anet just on principle, that means no sense in playing this
game further.

Whatever anyone says, Ascended weapons are the MUST for every high level
character, now I’ve been playing this game for awhile, I’m not once felt like I
was forced to do something I don’t really want, like grinding, but with the new
update everything suddenly changed. I have FULL ascended trinkets on my main
character, and almost full on another, that wasn’t easy, but prices and everything
were VERY reasonable, but now I have to pay about 200g to up my ONE prof. 400-500
not saying I have EVERY prof. up for 400, each cost me just 10g and some karma, and
now I have to pay 600g!!! if I want each to 500? What kind of bullcrap is that? Not saying how much should I grind, 600 Ancient Wood, and 400 Ori Ore + 100 Globs,
just for Artificer? How am I supposed to play game now? Every time I log-in, I feel
like only thing left to do for me is stupid farm and I just logging out. This is kitten
stupid. I can’t afford to gear up my main character, but I can’t even imagine, how
badly screwed players with multiple characters…I guess only thing I have left is to give up this game and find new one, with less grind,
it was a reason why I got GW2 in first place, and now this game just like others grinder
MMOs… Too frustrating. So you want to play an MMORPG where there ois no grind? Good luck with that. Even the casual game that is WoW has grinds in it. There you have to enchant and gem every item you get.
Ascended weapons are to be considered a long time goal, just like legendaries. If your goal isn’t to get one of those items, then you’re better off playing Tetris or Super Mario..
LoL, WoW is actually non-stop grindfest, anyone with bit of sanity abandoned this game long ago, there you have nothing to do but grind, and I won’t post here how much hundreds of hours you need just to get best gear for your one character…
You absolutely missing the point, Legendaries are long-term cosmetic goal, just to show-off how cool you are (for some ppl anyway), exotics before this update were almost the same in stats as there were legendaries, and now they introduced ascended, boosted stats of legendaries along with it, and made it as alternative, just for those who needs stats for successfull runs in high level dungeons and etc. Skins are very ugly and if I would get one ascended, I’ll have to use transmutation crystal on it to make it look as I want, ppl don’t use crystals on legendaries lol.
Now how can anyone with a bit wit in his head go along with this:
almost any profession 0-400 – max of 10-15g, considering you don’t have tons of
mats in bank (anyway if are U poor, farming those is very easy).
almost any profession 400-500 – 200g. You honestly don’t see overwhelming stupidity
and greed in that?…
You also say this: “So you want to play an MMORPG where there ois no grind? Good luck with that.”
But why I never had any grind or farming need before this one update?
Game was purely without-any-grind, as Anet claimed at launch, but in one day
they changed everything… If you can get along with this BS, good look, be another
cash cow for Anet.
Ascended weapons aren’t minimal stats increase, as I said, it’s a must for high lvl character, and you don’t do Fractals lvl1 in such state. You want to be on par with everyone else, and not burden to your party with exotics. For that you have to grind for months and so on.
I see only logical solution here: decrease amount of mats for prof. up to 500,
make it adequate. To get Ecto Globs, you need to salvage Rares with atleast Mystic
Kit, Rares are pretty rare to drop, and too expensive to buy big amount on TP,
plus Globs don’t drop from each salavaged. Ancient Wood trees are very few, same
for Ori veins, you have to spend insane ammounts of time getting about 600 (just for
lvlup, not actual crafting) ores or woods. Decrease Dragonite ore and Empyreal Shards to atleast 250, because most characters use 2-4 weapons + underwater ones, not saying about alts. And mats like Ancient Woods, Ori Ores or Ectos were NEVER cheap on TP, and never will be.
Just put it all together, and you will get insane grinding game picture, that ridiculously
happened with just one sick update. Very kittened one…

Thanks for this info, good thing I didn’t put infusion inside my trinkets yet,
tho another question:
If I get reward from FoTM chest as pre-infused ring with +5 AR inside,
I have to infuse it loosing +5 AR or I just put another infusion inside it
just like in “Joe’s” example?…
Wiki or any other sources I found aren’t that clear on that, have to ask
on forums, good thing there’s clear answers like yours.
As far as I know maximum reachable AR is 45 atm, correct me if info is outdated.
Can I infuse Asceneded Ring in which I put Versatile Simple Infusion (+5 AR),
or I can infuse to +10 AR only Pre-infused ones using this Mystic Forge Recipe?:
1 Shard of Crystallized Mists Essence
3 Globs of Coagulated Mists Essence
5 Vials of Condensed Mists Essence

The main problem is – there are NO DUELS in this game, you can barely fight 1v1
even in PvP for more than few minutes, because someone will eventually come
by and join one of sides. There are almost NO ways to show off your individual skill
and determine if you are good or not because it’s always up to the team/party/group
etc. Once in PvP I was playing as Guardian and engaged with Necromancer in 1v1,
we’ve been fighting for more than 10 minutes without anyone being able to inflict
enough dmg to kill, so we just broke off and went to objectives coz it was going
nowhere and noone was gonna win. Seen more stupid stuff like this but this ain’t
place talk about it.
Balance in this game is as ridiculous, as it can be, need real looking into and fixing,
but noone seems care about it. Regarding Ele is much to it.
(edited by Senticon.3452)
Bump, is there any actual info on that? I plan to switch to those runes if they fixed ofcourse. Can’t find anything regarding it in latest patch notes.
Since this game is mostly micro-based, ele’s are real hard to play along with engies and mesmers. Managing bars never got any game any harder.
You can mail old siege, equip it in hand, drop it with ` or w/e you have drop bound to and repick it up. Now you can mail it or trade it
That actually helped, thanks a lot.
I thought so too, but according to wiki only those siege weapons can be mailed or donated that you got AFTER the patch, but not those which you gained BEFORE.
Funny thing is, old weapons aren’t marked as Account Bound, that’s the wierd stuff…
Is that really so hard for Anet to fix such a small bug?…
I had loads of them before patch, and now I want to donate it to my guild bank
or send to my commander, but I CAN’T?
Is there any fix for this, or I should just destroy them? Coz no one will wait an hour
to deploy and pick em up one by one.
On the game-play side, this need people have to think of classes as ‘melee’ or ‘ranged’ amazes me as well. It’s a useless and purely gamist dichotomy- that’s not how classes are designed in this game and it’s not how classes should be designed period. All classes are competent at both melee and range and are expected to adjust their tactics based on need.
Sadly this game is nothing special, and designed like rest of the games of this type.
I would gladly see devastating melee Engineer, but there’s none. Mesmer, Ele and
Necro are casters, and despite they have few melee weapons, they can’t successfully
engage in melee combat, they have to keep distance. There are very clear classifications here, strong and durable melee, ranged, and casters with few details.
You cannot overhaul class and turn Thief into Guardian (i.e. D/D into Tank)
We cannot seriously define RL application of terms in game, Ranger here have
nothing to roam, gameplay is all about combat mechanics, so we have to classify
terms as they fit. I really never though that I have to say such obvious things to
anyone…
