I played ESO a long time ago, it wasn’t as good then. I have more recently played Black Desert Online, that wasn’t anywhere near WvW, although it had decent PvE gameplay.
The real problem with WvW is it was fairly well set up when it started, meaning that changes have a greater chance to cause harm to gameplay than improve it.
what is the next best class to tag and not die fast?
Flame thrower on condi engineer? When they nurf that grenades or even grenade launcher are options.
Because ‘you can hit through walls and gates’.
Why is this an issue now? After 5 years. All aoes can hit through gaates anyway, why is it an issue for guardians?
Exactly what I was wondering, condi engineers with flame throwers are much more effective and can hit through gates too, does this mean the flame thrower is going to be a melee weapon too?
What in the hell?
WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU ARE IN COMBAT? Disable in combat gliding. Otherwise it means anyone can run away from a fight by just gliding away and literally makes HoT Pay-to-win. Seriously. It NEEDS to be disabled to deploy gliding while in combat. Seriously. This is why gliding in WvW has always been the stupidest idea.
I don’t think you have the strongest grasp of how gliding works. If they try and run away by gliding off a cliff, just toss out a little cc and watch them fall to death, lmfao.
The counter to that is simple, jump off the cliff, wait till you are near the bottom and then open the glider in the last second. Result is you are probably going to be too far away or out of line of sight, even if they do hit you then you’re near the ground anyway and can survive the final short drop.
Overall, having played through the dire golem rush event and launch of the Desert Borderland I am entirely unsure of the suitability of this. I just hope they have done more testing than last time.
Sharks like piranhas, they’re crunchy!
Digital sharks dreaming about digital fish, what’s the problem?
Obviously it’s meant as an interesting curiosity or to confuse you.
Yhe tengu might have their moment, but not now. The problem is keeping everything in line and at a reasonable cost. Making the Tengu playable would be excessively expensive and not add anything to the game.
Repeatedly whinging like a spoilt brat doesn’t help.
The minimise and close icons in the top right hand corner of the screen are almost invisible from one metre on my 32" 4K monitor. The purple color and artwork blend the icons in so they are difficult to find.
Could you alter this area to make them more visible for those who have less than perfect eyesight? Yes, it’s a disabled access issue, although a small one.
The basics is they never do character name clean ups, it’s too much hassle and there are people who don’t use the reference email address or sign in often.
In WvW there is a little chest that appears at the top of the map. this pops up a window that details progression. The problem is it is easy to hit when you want to click on an item in the loot. Moving it out towards the left end of the map might help.
If you use AoE and accidentally go over the target description box then the AoE will still drop at your feet rather than the enemy. Retarget this so it falls on the enemy or clicks through. Better still make the target description moveable.
I would like to see space for all those boosters, although perhaps putting them in the wallet would be a better option. Carrying them all takes far too much space but the chances are you won’t have the one you want to use with you.
The way it used to work the ToT bag was a guaranteed seasonal bonus in the 4th slot during Halloween. The present setup will deter people from buying keys. A skin unlock but not exotic? No thanks.
As it is I have lots of boosters I never use and will never use. My crafting is already all lvl 500 so what is the point of the crafting boosters I have?
I have a full stack of tomes in reserve, so no need for XP boosting.
You could repurpose a copy of the sPvP lobby for this purpose, which would massively reduce the effort needed. 1v1 battles could be done in a small area or a separate instance.
As an expansion of this you could have a GvG arena, this would be a fairly simple area where initially guilds could fight each other without being on a WvW map. The map would be split into 3 areas, 2 spawn and a fighting area. Non combatants could enter their spawn but only those selected to fight would be allowed into the fighting area. Eventually this could lead to GvG tables showing who is really the best. Perhaps much later this could result in a competition similar to sPvP with 10v10 teams and 20v20 teams fighting it out.
And could we have the crafting stations installed there?
When anet introduced fractals they provided cheap ascended rings as one of the perks, effectively ruining the trade in an already difficult crafting profession. Laurels and Guild rewards did the same for amulets and accessories. How many people buy or make level 80 exotic jewellery to use now?
The condition damage food nurf when HoT came out hurt. Many got stuck with large amounts of food that halved in value virtually instantly.
Part of this game is crafting, if you don’t want to do it then someone else will do it for you, at a price. Making the food from the trader, who is available everywhere in WvW once you have bought the token, would simply damage the game mechanic and make cooking as worthless a crafting profession as jewller is.
You can’t have it both ways.
Yes we can, and we want double cream, sugar and a cherry on top :P
BTW I didn’t complain
I generally do one or two PvE dailys and then top up with WvW ones, it’s not difficult.
For the last year and a bit I have been fairly consistently critical of anet’s handling of WvW and they deserved all the criticism they got.
This however has much improved the situation, it’s not perfect but well on the way.
I like to think of improvements to coincide with the Goldilocks and the three bears story, not too much, not too little, just right. This certainly fits into just right.
So another Gratz from me.
The changes have just happened, you are not used to them yet. To be honest I didn’t notice any big changes except for waypoints for the first hour or so, then I visited Fire keep
Says clearly, second column from left, at bottom, BUILD WAYPOINT.
If you haven’t built it then it won’t work
I certainly agree with the ascended weapons option, ascended mats too.
While some things could easily be changed over to WvW currencies for legendaries it should still include a lot of effort to make.
Ummm, haven’t found any of them yet…
You shouldn’t really need points reset too often, a lot of WvW players filled that 20 from previously earned but unused points instantly.
Would have been nice if they had included it with the HoT patch but at least they got it out this time.
The barricades severely limited movement for small groups and solo players, it didn’t really slow large groups down. Towers are just about as important now as they were before.
There are undoubtedly options, but those can wait. I would rather have a conservative update than one that goes all out and causes even more grief.
I really don’t see any problem with anet staff claiming a location, at least it points to devs are active in WvW.
If you only ever do WvW or the Central Tyria areas then HoT isn’t really worth it.
Although, in my opinion, gliding in Central Tyria alone is worth the upgrade. It has greatly changed how I play and has saved time and deaths many times.
They are not broken, check when the upgrades happen, the waypoints get opened during the T3 upgrades, so if you lose a keep you also lose access to the waypoint until it can be rebuilt.
Your English is always going to be better than my German
I have been hit many times by thieves, the one tactic being if you don’t crit your enemy down go invisible and try again later.
The new daredevil can down my ranger with minimal fuss, not because I’m a bad player but simply that it has such high damage output and can dodge/evade most incoming damage. It can also heal damage at a fantastic rate.
Which makes the thief a really odd choice. It adds very little to WvW and is usually used in surprise trolling attacks paired with another toon. You get hit by one enemy then the thief backstabs you from invisibility or shadowsteps to you.
I am nowhere near the best thief player, but I took on a Mordrem Troll champion with a couple of npcs and killed it – without any problem.
Which is the issue here, a thief should be equal with the other classes, and it’s not.
Lets pull up some numbers.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pact_Tyria_mastery_track
32 mastery points for fractal attunement. 19 for pact commander. 19 for legendary precursor crafting. That’s a total of 70 Pact Tyria mastery points. How many do we have to collect ?
19+19+11 is 49 CTMP you would need to max this area.
BUT, if you have no interest in making an old style precursor or a new style legendary you don’t need to bother with the Legendary Crafting section.
If you have no interest in doing fractals then that can be ignored.
That leaves 19 for Pact Commaner, which is actually genuinely useful as it collects all your loot. So do that one first and the others only if you are interested in what they offer.
Just because it’s there doesn’t mean you have to do it.
LotRO has a very complex multi-level map area in Mines of Moria. The map was terrible, you could go south and end up below the area you were in before. Most people I met in there hated it and wouldn’t go back.
There is a limit to how complex you want maps to be, they need to be challenging yet not confusingly so. Three of the maps are fine, Tangled Depths overdoes it a little.
@OP Note that you may be finding this area easier than many others because of your choice of profession. Generally rangers/druids have an easier time than most others in the HoT areas.
Meatoberfest is always.
That’s the joke.
Jokes aside, I would also like to see other cultural events for the other races. There are none currently, I think.
Norn. Timberline Fall, NW corner at Kyesjard POI there is an ongoing 365 days a year feast and drinkathon.
Meatoberfest isn’t really a racial event, it’s an excuse to party, eat, get drunk, fight and pass out.
I just wonder if Asuran tossing is included anywhere, as opposed to dwarf.
The issue is the power creep.
Most places are fairly easy to defend. There are a few locations where catas can hit fire keeps outer wall with virtual impunity but even if attackers get inside the inner wall and gates will stop them if there are enough defenders.
A properly buffed and defended keep is almost impossible to take.
Blocking the south gate of Earth Keep won’t help, people will just jump over the wall. They can also deny the whole north end of the Oasis area by putting up large amounts of siege.
5 points per kill, no thanks. This would just encourage more people to go to the top worlds and huge zergs.
The whole point of having 3 borderlands is that they balance, each side having 1 home borderland. You would be better off reducing the number of servers, at least until they manage to fix things a bit.
In the end changing PPT so that it is proportional to the numbers of people on the borderlands/EB may be a better option. That would make holding a location during peak time better than at night.
There are several threads on this, just asking if people want to go back is a leading question. There are probably more people who want to go forward and improve the present map.
At the moment going back would take a lot of effort, better improve the Desert Borderland, then upgrade the old Alpine Borderland and finally install a rotation at some time in the future. New maps could be then added when available.
So
1. upgrade present map
2. upgrade Alpine map then cycle between the two
3. Install an automatic rotation/random selector and new maps when available.
Your OP does not give this as an option.
Less complexity to maps, easier and faster to get around.
Balanced builds so that every class has an opportunity to compete. Less invisibility, really this is just an opportunity to troll people. Thieves and Mesmers can survive without this.
No unnecessary PvE mechanics. WvW is not PvE.
Better rewards for players. Easier Capture and Hold guild missions. ( I am not a member of a WvW guild at the moment but really, an hour to cap and hold a camp?)
All of the specializations should be available in WvW to any character on entry to WvW. That is to help provide a fair and level playing field.
If sPvP players don’t have to do anything to get these then WvW players should get the same benefit. WvW is large scale PvP and not PvE.
This is just another let’s foist PvE stuff on WvW players issue. The problem is the devs attitude towards WvW players, not the players themselves.
If people want to earn the specializations for PvE then they can do so, in PvE.
There are probably better options to reduce zerging, such as debuffing large groups, making AoE blast combos less effective and biasing rewards so people in large groups get less and small to medium ones much more.
This would mean Blast finishing a water would get a set amount of healing, each toon would get a maximum effect from that but above the level it would be shared out. A zerg of 50 would get much less per person than a group of 10.
Same with loot, less than 25 and you get higher loot levels. 26 to 50, as now. above 50 to 70 low loot applies. Above 70 very low loot.
Your idea could be effective but would need a new map specifically designed for GvG. WvW is not designed for such battles and would require a lot of time. money and effort to change it. Then there would be limited opportunity for randoms and PUGs.
1 screenshot and tried it. Worked, thanks. Really I probably didn’t needed a screenshot as the map completion itself would have been evidence.
They still need to update the descriptor or mechanism.
This does not need harder enemies, it does need the strongest builds made weaker.
I have been everywhere with my rangers, nothing really stops them unless I am really outnumbered or run out of time killing a Champion. at a HP.
It is true that there is very little challenge in the Central Tyria regions, that is because players were buffed out of all proportion when the specializations came out.
If you want it harder though just take your toon’s armor off.
Bolt is fine as it is. Although there are other weapons that shrink on stowing.
I would like an even bigger Bolt, a greatsword version of the skin would be a nice option for the gem store.
For that matter how about normal sword sized Sunrise and Twilight?
I doubt if this would be that difficult knowing the present skins are there and could be reused.
I have completed Nevermore, so have all of the masteries maxed out. Luckily I did a large part of this before HoT appeared.
Having Points locked by living story events is a problem as not everyone has access to those, you have to pay for them. They are not expensive but considering the price of the expansion it’s pay more.
Then, unless you intend to make a legendary this line is useless to you. A good way of saving points is to fill this one up last.
I want the problem fixed.
It’s not a “problem” — it’s a preference, albeit for lots and lots of us. The game works perfectly well and nothing is “wasted” (as the poster above says, once you’ve done progressing in levels & masteries, you don’t need ‘experience’ points).
I do feel that all the XP boosters I have now are wasting away, until the next expansion (or until the update that allows me to convert them to something else). And I would like to see a use for XP. However, it’s nothing remotely like bugged events, the problem of having to move chest keys from character to character, the needless expense of runes|sigils that can’t be swapped to match legendary gear stat changes, and so on.
tl;dr sure, I’d like to see a use for XP post-masteries; I just think we can easily live without it.
You kind of missed the point.
I think so too, Skill Points were a currency that you paid for some items at the mystic forge with. Then they changed Skill Points into Hero Points and Spirit Shards. So they could just switch to a repetitive achievement giving 1 Spirit Shard per level. They would have to remove the drops to balance this a bit.
It gave a reward for leveling which until the HoT changes remained since GW1 started. It gave some meaning to all the XP we were generating.
Anet, can I swap for all the useless XP boosters I have for something else?
I needed a Necromancer’s Cache, so I mapped Auric Basin. I got the reward but the specialization collection didn’t update. I reported this in game yesterday but nothing seems to have happened since.
Necromancer Serious Spirits still has the cache, I didn’t open it. Is this an issue as description doesn’t mention opening?
At the moment gliders are one area that they can sell skins and not get too much hate back. They are not important for the game and you can choose to buy or not.
So I for one would prefer glider skins to be almost exclusively a shop bought item.
It depends on what you mean by ‘mobility’. If you just want to DPS a boss then ele/warrior/thief/Guardian/engie can all fit the bill. In most cases you don’t have to stand still while performing a skill.
Rangers using longbow just don’t seem to fit the bill for raids, nowhere near enough DPS. If you can heal then Druid might be an answer.
I tried longbow ranger too and ended up on hammer/greatsword dragonhunter with a couple of traps. To be honest most ranged weapons suck in raids.
Warrior, ele, thief, engineer
Not sure you can put engineer in high mobility and dps at the same time.
Engie has to sacrifice their dps for mobility, unlike the other 3.
Err, no. It can be even more mobile as many engie skills used are ranged. It can also be extremely useful dealing with the condi trash mob at vale guardian. It does have some of most complex skill rotations available though.
A raid has been done by one of the top guilds in Exotics, took a heck of a lot to achieve that. I doubt if anyone could actually pull off doing a raid in whites.
But there’s nothing to stop you trying….
It has 10 Googolplexplexplex HP and you have 8 minutes to try to kill it, and all it’s friends, before it ‘burps backwards’, kills everyone and nukes LA.
The only request I wish to make is ; Bring our dungeons back !. Give us 1.5gold give us 75% of a level.
I think they nurfed dungeons far too much. Then again you get loads of loot in FRACTALS and those are basically dungeons too.
As to the XP, there isn’t much point unless you are leveling. I have already topped out and don’t need any more XP. I have so many leveling tomes that within 5 minutes of creating a new toon I’m throwing out the leveling trash and getting new max armor/weapons on.
I’m still playing. My Fused Greatsword is the cheapest. Buy it please ^^
Yeah, OK…. one sec, I already have one :P
Wouldn’t mind them being brought back tho. I got mine as a freebie.
I was going to suggest the Golden wings the day before they put them in the shop.
Already have hawk wings on one account, the golden ones went on a second.
The one I didn’t like too much were the Valentine’s day one. I was expecting something like the Christmas snowflake glider but with hearts instead of snowflakes.
Serious post now…
Well as you asked…
I have killed the Vale Guardian 4 times but have issues with Gorseval, not that I don’t want to kill it but my guild leader decided it was best to get people who hadn’t managed it past the Guardian first. Actually I agreed on that.
I have completed all of the story and open world content, on multiple toons. Dabbled in PvP, although I am not good at that and WvW, where I seem to be a better than average player.
But I suffer from medical problems that make playing much harder for me than most other players.
I don’t have much interest in builds either. So where do I fit in?
Obviously I am not a fanatic, which some people seem to be. I doubt very much if I fit into the term ‘hardcore gamer’, but I do play more than many who would fit that name.
I don’t even think I would easily fit in semi, I’m far more in the belief you should play how you want.
Truth is it is often very difficult to say what a player is even on this vague scale.
