BLC token system?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Setz.9675

With the introduction of Season 1 memory box – Flame and festivals I just have to make this request.

A Black lion trading company vendor where we can sell the junk we get from the black lion chest items for tokens and allow us to buy black lion chest items with these same tokens.
In my mind it would look something like this

Bank Access Express: buy from vendor for 35 tokens, sell to vendor for 11 tokens.
Trading Post Express: buy from vendor for 35 tokens, sell to vendor for 11 tokens.
Revive orb: buy from vendor for 250 tokens, sell to vendor for 83 tokens.
Total Makeover kit: buy from vendor for 350 tokens, sell to vendor for 116 tokens.
Flavor of the month uncommon items: Buy for 600 tokens, sell to vendor for 200 tokens.
Rare items: Buy for 2500 tokens, no sell option since they can be sold on TP, maybe even make the bought rare items account bound to not disturb the markets.
Super rare items: Buy for 4-25k tokens, (weapon skins lower price than permanent contracts) no sell option again. Maybe turn these into account bound when bought from the vendor to not disturb the markets.

Maybe add black lion chest keys for 125 tokens for more gambling and maybe let players sell their permanent gathering tools as well for 333 tokens.

Basicly a system where even if you continuesly lose you can still work towards the things that you would like to obtain.
Also players can just use the items they get or choose to get tokens instead if they don’t find the items usefull.
One problem would be that people could get tokens by buying items from the gemstore to turn those into tokens. With the reduced token gain from vendors it should never be a gain to go this route.

Unidentified gear is fine if we get rare and exotic unidentified gear drops.
Map looks amazing.
Hopefully we get a meta event like SW (player progress is faster meta) and not like HoT maps with hardcapped timers.
Personal character doesn’t feel like a commander with ‘guild’ members interaction.

Feedback: Improvements to the Gem Store

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Setz.9675

Setz.9675

1. The intro page is a mess: Black lion key is not a new item, gliders we have for months in the gem store are not perceived as seasonal and featured items are just random items. The broad advertisement pannel doesn’t feel right, something about seeing the next and previous page is just too much in your face.

2. Style: Looks great, I can filter although Id like to have this option when i click on style instead of hovering over it. Also having the clothing on the left and character on the right is messing me up right now.

3. Utilities: Don’t put outfit packs in this catagory. I dont go to the utility page to buy an outfit the same way i dont go to style to buy a total makeover kit.

4: Toys: This is fine, nothing out of place.

5. Upgrades: So this is grinding my gears a bit but that’s because of my perception. Unbreakable gathering tools do not belong is this category. Upgrades IMO are account wide. A dye is account wide, shared bag slots are account wide, bank slots, character slots are account wide. Gathering tools are not. Unless we can buy gathering tools once and have them on all our characters without the tedious swapping through bank or shared inventory slot it’s hardly an upgrade.

6. History: This looks clean, can’t complain really.

Imo don’t place the same items in multiple catagorys, just because an outfit pack has 1 utility in it does not mean it should also be on the utility page. The primary cause of purchase is the outfit not the utility. Same with gathering tools.

Also good job on not putting the copper fed salvage tool in upgrades, basicly the best utility item in combination with a shared inventory slot.

Skirmish Pips Distribution Feedback Thread

Imo the current pip reward system is trash tier and I have no idea why it became the way it is.
Awarding pips based on rank is the dumbest thing I have seen regarding rewards in GW2.
My main account has rank 686, I play cele guard in zergs, my alt account is rank 22 and is an exact copy of my main accounts cele guard. My main account gets 2 pips while my alt account gets 0 pips for doing exactly the same thing. This is some next level bamboozlement and makes my head spin. But this is meant to retroactively reward WvW players aye? Because WvW rewards used to be kitten aye? Because you k-training in borderlands (dont deny this didnt happen) or in eotm was somehow worse rewarding than frostgorge bag farm or dungeon farm? Dungeons which rewarded gold and zero t6 materials. Materials you could sell on the tp for gold. But you got less gold/hour than dungeoneers? Maybe because dungeoneers got good at what they did and you kept wiping in WvW.

Outnumbered is absolutely toxic as hell, when I get it on a borderland and lose the buff 5s before pip/tick Im this close > < to foaming around the mouth.

The difference in pip gain between new players and high ranked is DEMORALIZING! If you are a new player <150 rank and are losing the skirmish you get 1 pip/tick. A losing skirmish for <150 ranked players means they need 8 HOURS TO GET TO THE WOODEN CHEST!!!!!A high ranked player, let’s say gold, gets 4 pips in this scenario. That is 4x faster to get to the end reward chest. A low rank will get the same WXP for capping, same loot for killing, same reward track progress but pips, wew lad go drown in your own misfortune! Pips is for the chosen WvW players.

Honestly pip rewards should be along the line of:

  • War score placement 1-3 pips, this is fine.
  • If you are in a squad that is between 5-20 players, all those players get 3 pips, 20-35 players 2 pips, 35-50 players 1 pip.
  • Loyalty 2 pips
  • Outnumbered 2 pips
  • Ranks 50-150 1 pip, 150-1000 2 pips, 1000+ 3 pips.

Here is a fun little scenario for the current system. the new expansion hits, you get new players into the game. PvE (dungeons, fractals, raids, open world bosses/meta: everyone is rewarded equaly for doing the same thing, sPvP: Everyone is rewarded equaly for winning or losing, WvW: GET BENT!

But Setz pips is only a small piece of the reward cake in WvW, chill your panties. It’s also the one that contributes the most to helping guilds with superior siege and improvement/tactics without opening your wallet, allows players to buy WvW infusions without destroying their laurels, allows players to progress towards skins, a progress where low ranked players might as well shoot their own foot because its less painful than looking at their pip acquisition.

MUST READ!!

These infinite gathering tools are BiS!!!
The sickle version has the ability to harvest 3 times in 1 swing, same as the skritt scavenger one but the new version gives unbound magic as well.
The wood cutter has a faster harvest time than normal versions (solar powered has 4 harvests in 1 press f but unbound gatherer gives unbound magic)
The mining pick has the fastest gathering speed of all picks and gives unbound magic.

I have spend 6k gems on 2 sets of infinite gathering tools before this was released and even though those kits are powercreeped by the unbound one Im still fine with it.

THIS IS NOT PAY TO WIN!
THIS IS AN INVESTMENT, I INVEST 2700 GEMS TO GET BACK UNBOUND MAGIC WHILE GATHERING RESOURCES.

Legendary armor review:

Light: Doesn’t feel/look legendary to me. It looks likes a gemstore + dungeon armor mashup. I can see/understand the theme when looking at the shoulders and headpiece but at the chestpiece it starts to lose it’s edge, gloves are unnecessary large/bulky (not the crystals, just the glove) and the pants are a trainwreck. It’s nice for pirate roleplayers that want to store their plundered booty behind their own bum but it’s way over the top in size. shoes are meh-tier.

Medium: This armor could be in the top 3 of ugliest armors in the game. From the beetle-helm to square and box like shoulders with the ugliest dragon design Ive ever seen, the ugliest vest (stowed) for male characters to THE largest trenchcoat in-game. Plain pair of pants and awkward/stocky/unflavoured boots. Lowest score possible, giving it a transmute over the skin/10 all day every day. Instead of downscaling the size of this armor it just kept on getting larger and larger, sometimes less is more you know.

Heavy: This set actually looks decent/good. Its also the only set that gives the impression of ‘that thing better not look at me or Im dead’ vibe. Very berserker like. Downside to this armor is how light coloured it is, even abyss shadow dye turns into light grey. The metallic glow on the other hand is very very nice.
The proportions are also a little off, the boots could be a bit slimmer while the shoulders could be a bit larger (stowed).

Obviously race change wont be as simple as copy/paste but don’t go around saying it’s impossible when there are possibilities if you look at it in a different way. I don’t know about other players but I would pay 2k gems for a race change no problem. Instead of procrastinating race change because ‘its too much work’ it should just be done in a less conventional way. The race change option has been requested for over 4 years now, there is a huge demand for it Im sure about that.

There is no good option for race changing unfortunately.

I already said it, a race change would reset all your story. It would only copy world completion and character age, character level and profession. You go on far too much about personal story rewards which are trash and can be re-obtained with a 800 gem character slot anyway.
lv1-80 personal story doesnt do a thing for LS2-HoT-LS3, my lv80 boosted chracters with 0% map completion do LS2-HoT-LS3 with zero problems. So no there won’t be updates needed there.
Giving your old progression back after the first mission is not impossible to program so more non existent problems.

The race change would be possible if the approach was different.
People that want a race change are the ones that don’t want to lose world completion and birthday progress. All the race change kit would have to do is copy that progress (and class) delete the old character and open up character creation menu to select a new character with your old play stats. Personal story starts anew, start at the level you were before you race changed etc. People are definitely willing to lose some to gain some.

I don’t understand the point of releasing the crimson skins in the current form. We already had the kaiser skin colour for daily’s and now crimson skins are competing for the same spot.

New skins are added for casual playstyle but nothing new added for tribulation is sad imo. Would have loved to see a new moto infusion (purple/yellow) but nope. Sitting on 10+ tribulation tokens of all zones and will be more after going for daily chests but they are utterly useless. Let us trade that stuff in for crimson tokens or something or add something else we can use that stuff for.

WvW population balance idea

in WvW

Posted by: Setz.9675

Setz.9675

Just going to say this right of the bat, I’m not big into WvW so I could be completely off point with this but here is my idea.

Make a WvW tournament season, basicly the same as what we got in sPvP now. Pip system for chests, rank system for skill determination (titles for the top players). But now instead of giving the ‘winning’ servers (bronze/silver/gold) a big boost in loot with mini’s, WvW tickets and other stuff, you award the players of each server on their contribution to WvW victory etc. For example the people (or guilds) that decap the most keeps/towers/etc and earn the most points with their capped buildings lets say top 100 players of a servers population gets the biggest rewards. The next 100-300 get less, 300-700 less, 700-1200 less and the people that simply go for the WvW pip chests gets a ribbon or something. Servers could still get a mini or bronze/silver/gold trophy finisher for winning the tournament but the bulk of the rewards at the end of the season come from the competition between players, not their servers.

My train of thought here is that people have 2 options: They either stay on their overpopulated servers and severely lower their changes of getting the top player rewards for their server but have a higher chance at getting rank 1-3 finishers, or they spread out over the servers to increase their chances to become the top players of the server.

The pip system would simply be there to attract all the players of gw2 into WvW for the baseline reward just like how people go into sPvP to get the 1200 tokens for ascended items. Some stay because they now enjoy sPvP, others leave because they got what they wanted. Either way a tournament increases activity and moving the end of the season rewards from server based to activity and competition between players could make players move around.

The map is great, the ice/geyser/woods diversity makes the map versatile and pleasing to the eye.
Some mobs do a tad too much damage in this map as others have said as well, 8-9k hits from non elites is a bit much also considering they all walk in packs of 2-4.
The story was good as well, bosses weren’t too difficult although getting the final boss to charge the adds consistently was a bit of a pain.

Just 1 improvement I would like to see: give us the ability to attack braham next time. And allow us to do this with caithe as well, ’hey caithe, remember that time when you stole the dragon egg and ran off with it? slam! Hey Braham, remember that time when you went full emo on me in that cave to imbue your mothers bow with ancient magic? KICK TO THE GROIN!

In all seriousness though, it feels like there is zero control in the new guild. Marjory doing whatever the kitten she wants, braham doing whatever the kitten he wants. Only taimi and rox fill their roles in the bigger picture, taimi and personal-character having a sort of child-protective uncle relationship and rox following orders because that’s how she was brought up. It also becomes quite obvious how absent Kasmeer is in the past few episodes.

an ascended berserker backpack has 63 power,40 precision,40 ferocity, an exotic berserker backpack with celestial upgrade has 42 power, 33 precision, 33 ferocity so it’s -20 power,-7 precision,-7 ferocity. I think the overall dps loss could be a whopping 1%

You are correct, didn’t think of using the backpiece for storing the poly-luminescent because the gw2 wiki didn’t list it as a trinket. Too bad I’ll lose 2 infusions but i’ll simply unequip the exotic backpiece in fotm.

But regardless of all this though, it wouldn’t be bad to have an adjustment to the halloween items. Feels a bit backwards having to swap ascended gear to exotic for an aura. Especially due to how rare the infusions are.

Except that it’s more likely to be a 2-3% dps loss.
For example: berserker —> celestial in dmg stats it’s -91 power, -40 precision, -40 ferocity.
That’s a pretty big deal.

Just realised I can put the poly-luminescent undulating refractor into an earring which makes the stat loss less than it would be for an amulet.
The problem with this however is that I lose an agony infusion for my necro with this for fotm and a power infusion for my thief in wvw.

Should there not be some sort of general rule applying to material storage?
Any item used by a crafting professsion gets to enter the material storage.
Items used only by the mystic forge do not get to be in the material storage.
Then you got items like blood rubies and petrified wood, imo items like these should enter the storage as well since they are currencys but can’t go into the wallet due to their salvageable nature.

I’m probably a bit late to the party for this but I recently received Oontz’s necklace of the ghoul and had previously bought poly-luminescent undulating refractor (orange).
The colour change looks great imo but the problem I have with it is that I have to sacrifice offensive stats in order to obtain a cosmetic look (viper to celestial or berserker to celestial).
For this reason I’m having a ‘little’ request to slightly change the items mentioned above.

  • Turn the poly-luminescent undulating refractors into Enrichments to socket into amulets (would gradly sacrifice 20% mf or 15% karma for this myself)
  • Turn the poly-luminescent undulating refractors into an unique equip infusion.
  • Turn the exotic amulets into ascended amulets with selectable stats (1 time only) and make the amulet itself give of the glow (just like how the batwing shoulders is the bat-aura itself)

The ‘badly designed entrance barrier’ is made by players, get a grip. I did VG with 0 LI, where can I collect my medal? You are talking about pug players here with ‘fairly high’ experience and don’t want to carry players or waste time sorting their kitten out. Is it extreme? Sure it is but this is not Anets fault nor is this how the majority of raiders work with. Stop projecting your pug experience as global raid community issues.

No. It’s EXCLUSIVELY Anet fault, big, huge, massive design fault, taken right from some ancient 10 years old WoW design document, because this is how community works in situation like this.
Lots of people who want to raid but too inexperienced, solid raider core who don’t give a kitten about them (why should they, there is no rewards after reset. Yeah, tell me about teaching guilds, which is 3 for WHOLE EU), and a pug crowd, with a 80 LI demand for VG run because they don’t want to see inexperienced guys.
But hey, this is not anet fault, that’s your fault, GW2 was advertised as game with a raiding PvE endgame from the very beginning, right?

I’m not a smart person but could you point out any game where players could not discriminate against others with regards to these sort of arbitrary requirements?

The frequency of it showing up isn’t actually cause to think the case is valid. Especially when you’re talking about the same 4 users posting the topic on a near weekly basis depending on the last closed thread date.

Try to visit Reddit some day, you know, place where anet devs are really answers to players unlike this forum, and then tell me more about 4 people.

Additionally if the problem was, as wide spread as to be believed you’d see a much much much larger outcry (HoT Price thread comes to mind). Right now this is much ado about nothing from a very vocal minority who have yet to, for whatever reason they chose attempt to raid, attempt to lead a raid, attempt to join the current raiding scene/community. That’s on them to fix, not any new mode, not any lower difficulty. If you don’t want to work toward a goal, then you probably don’t deserve any sort of special treatment nor any rewards garnered by players who do.

Interesting words, especially from REAL vocal minority, who trying to deny others from experiencing raids, because they are dare to not overcome badly designed entrance barrier by all costs, but instead asking devs to pay attention to their flaws.
Here, fun example for you, fresh from LFR.

Kicking down the difficulty to the generic open world content and turning raids into a weekly faceroll farm isn’t going to bring value to either the casual player or tryhard raider.

The entire problem with this game is that after 3 years of receiving handout content where you run braindead in a zerg to claim loot has created the most lazy and entitled crowd I’ve ever seen in a video game to date.

The real laziness on these forums comes in the form of hyperbolic, bull-kitten reasoning and weak, reductive arguments.

Case in point:

This entire discussion of different difficulty scales boils down to:
*Add infantile mode so braindead people with no class comprehension can clear raids.
*Players need to start being dedicated towards the goals they wish to achieve in the game.

Look, each type of game content is enjoyed in a myriad of ways for just as many reasons. You can’t say adding tiered difficulty isn’t going to bring value, because it certainly will to at least some players. The real bottom line is whether there are enough of them to warrant the time and resources needed. The frequency of this topic popping up does suggest that this is the case.

And there is absolutely no inherent value in a particular approach to gaming. Trying to put down players as lazy and entitled is silly. Video games, particularly MMOs, are essentially fun ways of passing time. This is also arguably one of the laziest hobbies ever. Barring a few exceptions (E-Sports and Pro Streamers) whether you take gaming seriously or not, makes no difference. All that matters is individual enjoyment.

How about you start focussing on the actual issue instead of beating around the bush. The problem with raids isn’t the mechanics or boss difficulty, all of that can be learned over time. The problem starts when trying to find 9 like-minded players that are able to play at the same time and having the same learning skills so people don’t fall behind others.

Also if you want to talk about weak arguments, how about you read up on the purpose and intention with which raids were created. All these threads become completely moot the moment you walk out of your vacuum.

You are the kind of guy that buys a car with the intention to sail with it, then complain to car factorys that your car is unable to float.

While I’m a supporter of raids getting harder, not easier, this analogy fails on enough levels that it does not serve your argument.

So, please do argue in favor of raids remaining exclusive, but you might want to find an analogy that does not fall flat. I’m glad you enjoy raids, but putting raid completion on the same level as winning an Olympic medal? Come on.

How did I say that completing a raid is the same as competing in the olympics? I was simply comparing the two in the sense that the sheer difficulty is what brings the entertainment value. Kicking down the difficulty to the generic open world content and turning raids into a weekly faceroll farm isn’t going to bring value to either the casual player or tryhard raider.

So how would an easy mode look like to you people?

On vale guardian would you only require 1-3 people to enter the green circle for it to not explode? Would there be only 1 red orb active at a time and have its movement speed slowed down? Less blue AoE? More time between floor lighting up? Far fewer green circle spawns during the fight? A general damage reduction on all ablities so you can heal through green circle explosions and red orbs? That fight would look like a complete joke.

The only reason raids are good is because of it’s unforgiving nature. It took my guild several hours for every boss to beat it in order to progress and things got easyer the more experienced we became. To me it just seems that people are allergic to improving their gameplay and want handouts.

The entire problem with the lazy selfcentered entitlement crowd is that they think that wherever they stand is the top of the mountain and that everything and everyone should cater to their want. In this mindset a 200kg obese man should be able to compete in the olympics and finish with a medal regardless of his performance because now more people can enjoy being in the olympics. This is a vaste improvement for the olympics because more people can enjoy the olympics now. The fat mans golden medal totally has the same value as the extremely trained athlete that won his golden medal in a higher bracket right? Golden medals don’t suddenly lose its value because fat people get golden medals in lower brackets right?

The point I’m trying to make is that if you don’t want to put any effort into something you shouldn’t expect anything either.

I understand having a perma salvage kit in an account wide slot has a lot of value but think about it this way, for example I have 20 characters right now. That is 20 characters with food/potions/vanity items/HoT container keys etc etc. Having access to 5 slots total for a price of 2800 gems while having so much stuff to share between characters is just poorly thought out.

This entire thing is far less a QoL aimed to players than that it’s a money grab for Anet.
In total I’ve bought the base game, 1x 1600 gems and $100,- expansion and it’s just not happening anymore, this game just isn’t worth the rl money spend on it, just no.

Raid need at least 2 difficulty level!

Using WoW as a means to measure raids in gw2, absolutely atrocious.
If you think the timer is there to make it hard you are sorely mistaken. But considering you blame the timer for the difficulty and not the actual mechanics shows that you have zero relevance to any claims raid related.

But do allow me to explain:
1: during phase 2-3 the tank needs to possition the boss in the correct platform so green circles spawn correctly for green circle group to maintain dmg on the boss. Need to get out blue AoE, need to time CC phase, green circle spawn and AoE platform despawn and position boss accordingly.
2: green circle group needs to work around blue field to avoid teleportation (in green circle), need to slow/knockback red orbs to avoid getting killed, need to maintain awareness of green circle spawns, need to maintain decent damage on the boss.
3: Healer needs awareness where players need healing, most likely is part of green circle group.
4: melee dps got it easy.

You saying that the timer is too short and the mechanics are easy is because your group doesn’t perform well.

Same like that hat but with a HoT logo on it?
Would be much appreciated.

The change from 400 hero points to 250 is something that I, with 14 lv80 characters am welcoming. 400 was just crazy. I can actually unlock elite traits for all my alts and not be bored to tears.

Dollar => Gem conversion is stable.
Gem <=> Gold conversion is unstable.

Gem value never change.
But the more gold coins exists, the less a single gold coin have value.

That’s why prices changes on BLTP. Same for gems.
More gold exists in the game -> Gem costs more.
Less gold exists in the game -> Gem costs less.

It’s that simple, Arena.net have nothing to do, it balances itself.

You seriously didn’t think this one through.
Why do gems spike from 80g to 95g? because all of a sudden the game magicly generates 22.5% gold out of nothing?
Gem—Gold ratio depends on how many people are willing to spend real money on gems to convert to gold and players spending their gold on gems. Anet is the broker that takes a % of each transaction to make these transactions a gold sink.

Candy Corn Gobbler return?

Will the candy corn gobbler make a return this year? Have been waiting for this item to return for 6 months since I got into WvW and the current prospect is very grim to say the least with halloween skins/outfits being removed in 7 days.

Game wide reward nerfing needs to stop.

Or you could just like I don’t know, play the game?
Crazy thought here, play the game, pick up loot, sell said loot on the trade post to other players and buy the items you need?
I already made 70g on flax seeds in the last 2 days by selling it. no clue how you guys can circlejerk like this being all toxic and kitten.

Salvaging Fractal Rings

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

I salvaged my 220 rings and am using the stabilizing matrices to buy fractal encryption keys.
1 stabilizing matrice = 2 fractal encryption keys
1 fractal encryption key = 1 relic + 20s
This makes 1 stabilizing matrice worth 2 relics and 40s.
220 rings yielded 1232 stabilizing matrices. Worth in encryption keys being (1232*2*20)/100 giving me 492.8g in fractal encryption keys vs the 220g of salvage kits it had costed me.

Also salvaging 220 rings gave me only stabilizing matrices and 2x +5 agony resistance infusions and 1 versatile simple infusion. droprates of those salvaged legendary items is screwed up.

The final boss was a bit of a shock tbh, taimi wants to find mordremoths vulnerability and that would take weeks as she said and then your personal character goes: ‘I know his vulnerability’ and everyone goes omg amazing idea.
Also kind of strange how mordremoth has zero self reflection and doesn’t take actions on protecting his ‘vulnerability’.

Hey there buddaaay!! Not enjoying HoT content? I suggest you go to Auric Basin and group up with your guildaaais!! 5 man party and up! Lot of event chains there. Verdant Brink is 110% garbage to get into HoT, Auric Basin is where it’s at. Just chain those events and don’t mind that experience bar untill you can put a unlock it. HoT is seriously hard to get into but once everything is unlocked it’s a breeze to navigate through, the first characters just get it rough. (IF MOBS HIT TOO HARD, GET TOUGHNESS GEAR, IT HELPS!). Rabid stats is basicly cheatmode.

The amount of experience needed for masterys has been discussed since BWE1 and how it was a chore and not fun to do.
Now in the actual game where my elite specc is locked behind a 400 hero point wall which is annoying to begin with is further locked behind not a grind but behind a chore. A really long and frustrating chore.
Unlocking masterys does not feel like meaningfull progression, it feels like a mandatory event grind which in all honesty is rather difficult if you look HOW EMPTY THE ZONES IN HoT ARE!!! Both players and events are incredibly hard to come by. The experience we gain in the jungle from enemys is close to null as well.

So yes Anet congratulations, you turned your extremely grindy game into an extremely annoying chore. Anet’s policy of no fun allowed is really shining down on HoT. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I feel like a moron right now.
