I’m fairly new to structured pvp in this game. I was trying to work on one of the timed tracks. I started it yesterday and today it’s at 49% but I’ve done over 10 matches and it hasn’t budged. Is there a cap per day you can put into it or something?

Just wondering if servers that are full will ever open back up for more people to join? I know you can play with friends on other servers but wvw is one thing we do plan to do. Now that I’ve convinced some other friends to start to play they can’t join us in wvw because fort aspenwood filled up after the xpansion launched. I’m not sure what the technical considerations to this is really.

Just curious if this was something that was being looked at or transferring is the only solution.

I just got HOT and decided to give a revenant a go for fun. My main is a lvl 80 war at the moment. I’m pretty much a casual player and really don’t have a clue how to play this class. I’ve looked at some guides I’ve found on the web but they get a bit over my head with some of the terminology. Does anyone know of a pretty basic guide on how to play a rev? I got him to 34 with instantly with a lvl 30 insta lvl and a few tomes so now I just need to figure out how to play this guy. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What is the absolute minimum you can complete the claiming your guild hall event? We have a very small friends guild and was hoping we could do it with 4 people. Is that possible?? We were thinking of doing the lost precipice.

I’ve been trying figure out what builds to run with. I’ve been looking up other people’s build’s online but I’m confused about one thing while looking at them. When looking at the specializations It’s like I’m not seeing all of it. For instance if I’m looking at the arms track the first thing will be selected with a path going to the next option out of the stack of 3 but then nothing else. Or even more confusing some of it will all seem like it’s blank but then the last section of it be selects showing the path. Here is a link to one as an example. But in game you select all the way through. Don’t get it.

My little guild has 9445 influence left over from pre HOT. I’ve heard you need at least 10k for the vender to show up in the guild initiative building? I’ve looked and do not see anyone in that building offering to exchange our influence. So how do I convert it? Do we need to have our guild hall before we can do it? I would not like to think we would have to eat nearly 10k of influence.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve been playing casually for a few years now. I took close to a year off however and recently came back because of the expansion and a bunch of wow buddies that I use to play with finally decided to give this a try. So now after deleting my old lvl 80 war because I am too cheap to spend the transfer fee off of Blackgate to fort aspenwoon I am almost lvl 80 again with my new war.

I never took the time to fully understand the builds and traits like I feel I should so now this time around as a small guild we hope to while not folloing the zerg break into a small guild group and be somewhat helpful in WvW. I’m looking for a good pre HOT build as I still don’t have the expac yet but do plan to have it soon. I normally use a GS and bow but was thinking of going Horn/another 1 hander for speed and Bow for support but I’m totally open to suggestions on what are good to use and would make me the most usefull. Also I’m pretty lost when it comes to what builds to use and what traits to have active on my bar.

I did look through the “show us your build” thread but most are fairly old and didn’t know if things may have changed.

I’ve been debating this myself weather to open tot bags or just sell them since they are going for some good coin at the moment. I’ve done the achievement already so not sure what I’m going to do.

Not sure but I can’t seem to figure out what the rewards for completing the 8 achievements for this years Halloween event is. Seems like past years It’s been posted so maybe I’m just missing something? I’m 4/8 done now and close to finishing the doors and pumpkins.

Have you considered going free-to-play, too? Then you can pick the same server as your buddies and go with them to WvW. If they end up liking the game enough to buy HOT, you can purchase for your free account (and start sharing loot with your original account). If they end up playing less often and unwilling to spend cash for the full game, you can play with them on FA and swap to your unlocked account.

This allows you to trade some inconvenience in the short run in order to save you in-game gold and real world money.

Yea I thought about doing that but then all the account bound things like collections and crafting mat’s won’t come over right? I think I’ll just suck it up and re level to 80 and stick with my account. I’m guild leader of our very small guild so I’ll just make a friend a leader then stand down before I delete the character. Then he can change me back to leader on my new guy.

Is there a difference stat wise between dungeon bezerker gear and WvW zerker gear? I’ve been wanting to do dungeons but never really did because I was mainly playing solo. I’m a very casual player so things take me a little longer. But I’m kind of excited now to replay my warrior to 80. And now that I’ve done it once I may do it a bit different. Think I’ll work on more map completion and story. And I’ll sprinkle some wvw in for flavor.

Oh I was just wondering what about my wallet? That is account bound right so money and all other currencies will remain on my account?

Bummer so my exotic gear would be there but wouldn’t be able to use it. Makes sense. Not the end of the world like you said. It’s all wvw beserker gear I’ve been buying with badges. I did make an exotic 2 hander sword in the mystic forge witch took me a little while to get the shards I needed but again I could do that again. I was just hoping I could keep my exotics

My current world that I am on is Blackgate. Now that the core game went free to play I finally was able to convince a bunch of buddies to start playing and they seem to be liking it and will be purchasing HOT. One main thing we want to do together is WvW so that leaves me in the tough spot of needing to move servers. They cannot move to Blackgate because it is never open. They are on Fort Aspinwood wich is heavily populated so it costs 1800 gems to move to it. Looks like it would cost me 30 or 35 bucks just to move servers which may not sound like a ton of money but for me it is a bit steep when I need to also need to purchase HoT here very soon. I only have one 80 so I’m really considering deleting him and starting over on their server but I wanted to make sure I do this right so I don’t loose my exotic gear. Is all I have to do is to bank all my gear and it will remain in the bank after deleting all my toons? Kind of sucks to do it but really leveling one character won’t be bad and they are all currently leveling anyway. I just want to make sure I’m correct on not loosing my gear.

Since he has free to play he has to get to level 60 first anyway. Why not get a free account yourself, level with him and play WvW on his server when he is on and your server when he is not? If he ever gets on your server you can abandon the f2p account. Of course there is gold loss from not being able to transfer any gains to your main account unless you upgrade it (might be worthwhile if the price of the expansion drops). Another consideration, he might not stick with the game and if you transfer out, you might find him no longer logging in after the “honeymoon” is over and you’re stuck on a server you don’t want to be on.

Now that it’s free to play GW2 I have a friend that would like to play with me. Now that he can play for free to check it out he can’t get on Blackgate since it’s been full when he’s tried. We do want to wvw mainly so this is important. Are there times when this server may be open or are there plans to open it up to more players? Just curious.

Is there a tip for farming spirit shards that anyone can give me? I want to try my first crafted weapon from the mystic forge and need 50 shards to buy a scroll. I only have 25 on me I’ve never really paid attention on where I get them from. My guess is I get them from wvw since that’s about all I’ve done other then some living story stuff.

I don’t see a separate server forum here so I’m wondering if anyone knows of a good blackgate server site where I can go get information on voice chat servers to join or even what’s happing in the war and what’s planned if anything. Not sure anything like that really exists. I’ll keep asking google as well.

Is there much different stat wise in ascended armor compared to exotic? I love the idea of making my own but the reality is I don’t know if I’ll ever get to the point in crafting. Maybe I could try. But may be easier to just go for the exotic stuff.

I’ll be honest when it comes to MMO’s I’ve been around but I’ve never been able to be a “hard core” player due to family and other responsibilities. That being said I’ve been away from this game for some time and I’d like to get back into doing some WvW. I’d like to be as use full as I can so I have started reading some guids and such. But one thing I’m hung up on is the guides are helpful in saying that you need X gear and X weapon and X amulet etc in order to get your damage or crit to where you need it. But how do I start to figure out exactly how to go about acquiring the gear and trinkets. I do not want to spend real life money on gems so I’d prefer to have to either farm gold, or do dungeons, etc to try and get the pieces. If anyone has any advice for an old lvl 80 war that is trying to improve his play I’d greatly appreciate it!

I’ve been away for a quite some time now. Maybe more then a year and I thought it would be fun to jump back in and see what is going on. I logged in last night to find out that LA has indeed been rebuilt. I guess I stopped playing back before LA was actually destroyed. I did know it had been and logged in from time to time to just run around the ruins of LA for 5 minutes or so. Now I’m trying to figure out where we are in the living world line. When I go into the section of the website I don’t seem to see anything current. I’m having to brush up on how to actually play the game and It may take me a bit to remember how to figure out what it is I need to be doing. Other then LA being rebuilt is there a story line that goes along with it at the moment? My main is a lvl 80 norn warrior and I’m a little unsure what to do to get back into the swing of things. I got as far as just logging in and running around looking at the new LA last night and that’s about it. If anyone has any pointers to where I can figure out where we are and what I’ve missed and what the heck I should be doing now at max lvl I’d appreciate it!

I’m torn on this. I personally am not really a big fan of quick travel in games where travel is instant. Where I can click on something and go from one side of the entire world to the other with one quick loading screen. I know however that I am probably the minority with this. To me it just kill’s the immersion (if that’s the right word) on the world for me. I know I really don’t have to click the way point and I could do the long run myself and sometimes I do. I’m personally ok with having them but I do miss the day’s of having to go to a doc and jump on a boat or maybe even some sort of blimp to get places. I’m sure this isn’t a popular thing to say but this is one thing I really liked with Wow. I was a fan of the bird routs, and boats. Heck they even did introduce portals for some types of insta travel but it wasn’t as easy as just clicking on something on the map. I kind of liked the need to plan out your trip and think about how to get someplace. This is just my personal oppinion and I’m sure we wont’ see it change in this game.

I hope they fix that so it goes back to how it was as far as the name plates go. I’d prefer not to see them for non rendered characters.

Yea seems when you turn them off it will still show nameplates for characters that are far enough away. Wasn’t like that before because now in LA all I seen in the distance is a sea of name plates! I’d rather not see them myself but dosn’t seem to be a way that I can tell to fully turn them off.

The only thing I don’t really care for are all the name plates. I have them turned off but they still show for characters in the distance. I really don’t like seeing all the dang names cluttering up my views of LA!

NVM I combed through the fov beta thread and seems this was implemented live some time ago.

Please excuse my ignorance here. But is the FOV option live in game or do you still need to create a seperate shortcut with the extra info in the target line?

For me I’ve been trying to get a few friends to try the game out but they didn’t want to spend the money right off the bat. Plus my server has been full so even if I did get them to buy the game they would not of been able to join my server. Now they can try the game and join my server. If they do decide to play for good then they will already be on my server and no one has to shell out the bucks to move so i’m happy.

Have they opened up servers that were full so freinds could wvw with friends that are going to try the game for the weekend?

Also if someone creates a trial account then decides to buy the game will they be able upgrade that trial account so they do not have to start from scratch?

So I could go grab this karma set. Then work to purchase my exotic wvw invaders set with badges of honor. Then transmute the skins so I have the look of the dark armor on the stats for the invaders gear? do I have that right?

I know with guesting and all that you can play with friends on different server. However you can’t wvw. Now there is potential for some friends of mine to finally start playing this game that I’ve been trying to sell them on since launch. I suppose if enough do actually start to play and keep playing I’ll move servers myself seeing that I am on Blackgate which is full. However I’m unclear of the cost to move a single character. Also I’m wondering if anyone has a guess if blackgate will remain full for a long period of time or if maybe it could change and open up at some point? Then I wouldn’t have to sweat moving. I know there’s no crystal ball that will say for sure. Just looking for some good speculation here

I’m casual as well. I can go months without playing. I’ve managed to get on for a few nights and finish dragon bash event when it was here. I’ve only got 2 achievements left to do for this bazaar one also. And I’ve gotten quite good quickly at getting around the zone and doing the jumping around kinda stuff! This is why I’m loving this game. The content feels totally accessible to me as well!

Also for this event I’ve spent a total of 3 nights for 2- 4 hours a time and I’m almost done with the main achievement.

I hope it’s here for a few more day’s at least! I think 7/23 would be maybe a possible date for the end since if i’m not mistaken that would be 2 weeks. But yea since the next event seems to sort overlap it’s unclear if will still have the BotFW content to keep working on. I only need 2 more achievements. I’ve done all the sprint ones, I did the find 40 gems one, Ive done the kite basket ones I’ve done all the quick and easy ones which basically leaves me with 2 left. I think the jumping puzzle ones will be fairly easy since I’ve gotten quite good at leaping around doing all the other achievments! But I won’t be able to play again till maybe Sunday or Monday night so I’m hoping it’s here till at least tuesday the 23rd!

I just hit 80 not that long ago and need a good build. I play solo a lot so im looking for a good versital build that would suit many types of play such as events, wvw, dungeons etc.

I’ve been mostly running with a GS/LB but may switch to a different weapon if needed.
