Guild Wars 2

I actually really like this idea. As you suggested, I think it is a good idea that all sigils for a given legendary should start off in the locked state, and then be unlocked by using the sigil on the weapon.

That would add progression-within-progression, in a way.

Who are we? Our core members have been around since pre-release. We encourage a tight-knit community of both new and experienced players that like to participate in all aspects of Guild Wars 2.

What does our guild offer? We have an active core playerbase, and we’re working hard to recruit new members. We have a guild hall that we’re working on upgrading, and in the past have organized guild events like jumping puzzle races (JPRs). Side note: I won 4/5 of those. Come at me. We do missions and group farming events targeted at improving our guild hall. What about VOIP? We use discord currently, and it’s working out nicely.

What do we like to do? Lately we’ve been loving the HoT content, fractals, PvP, masteries, and looking at our shinies.

Why should you join us? I’m not exaggerating when I say HC is the best gaming community I’ve ever been in, in any game I’ve played. Though our numbers on GW2 aren’t ideal at the moment, we’re working on changing that, and you can help. This is why, until we get a larger playerbase, representation is not mandatory. We only ask that you give us a try; I promise you’ll like it. If you don’t like HC, I unfortunately can’t give you a refund or anything.

Hello all,

So today, after doing a guild mission, I got a “shard of crystallized resonance.” My guild doesn’t have a technician yet (I don’t think?), so I’m unsure what this item does.

Does anyone know? The wiki doesn’t seem to have the information I’m looking for.

This strategy is, in fact, effective. It took me about 15 tries to get the 8 orbs achievement.

One of the things I most looked forward to about Guild Wars 2 was being able to see Cantha 250 years later, and with this game’s refinement. I would love to see it again, and I absolutely support its future inclusion in the game. Hopefully with enough support the decision to pull it will be changed.

Tengu- Seems to be a great candidate for a race, they have a pretty solid background, and with the defeat of Zhaitan they may open their city to visitors.

Kodan- I have to agree with previous posters that the range of customization might be a little lacking, but they are still a possibility.

Wardens (?)- Probably unlikely, since they seem too close in appearance to Sylvari, but these were always kind of interesting to me in Guild Wars: Factions.

I wish I could say the same, but alas! I got a bit over-zealous with my grinding and sort of crashed and burned, but I do think I’ll get my grind back on sometime in the near future :P

There is a lot of lore, tucked away in obscure corners of Tyria… But why should lore be hidden? I have to say, the one thing I miss from Guild Wars 1 is the amount of lore present in game.

You know, I don’t really agree with all you doomsayers, and the introduction of a new tier of gear won’t make me quit (or come anywhere close). That being said, they could just make ascended armor a cosmetic thing. Make it a prestige item, like obsidian armor was in the first game. It didn’t do anything different than the other max armors, but hell, it looked nice and it was respectable (like legendaries are now).

I have mixed feelings about ascended gear. On the one hand, I am not going to be a “doomsayer”, as I don’t think in the slightest that adding a little gear progression is going to sink this game. Also, I don’t really need the best stuff IMMEDIATELY, and I am fine with working towards this stuff at a leisurely pace (unless they add it too fast for me to keep up, hehe). In a way, I like the idea of somewhat better stuff; the big issue here is the fact that Anet explicitly stated that they would refrain from doing this.

Though I stated above that I don’t mind a little progression, there is obviously a point where a little becomes a lot, and a lot becomes a gear treadmill. I would really hate to see that.

In short, I think there are positives and negatives to the new gear, but unlike some of you, my continued enjoyment and playing of this game does not really depend in the least on whether they go through with the ascended stuff.

I do enjoy the lack of renown hearts in Orr, and the excess of DE’s, but I must agree with the OP that it is pretty annoying. There is nothing I hate worse than getting pulled, immobilized, stunned, knocked down, dazed, etc. Frostgorge, on the other hand, has something (which is massively important I think) that Orr lacks: diversity. And come on! It even has a dragon!

P.S. Not counting Zhaitan, he’s in a dungeon :P.

As I sit here and masticate these cashews, I find myself in partial agreement with the OP. One thing I loved about GW1 was the boss loot tables, and the ability to capture elite skills. I very much think they should implement this into GW2, and I think they did say somewhere that they were working on it (the loot tables, not the captures). I agree with your point about the dungeons, too. Don’t get me wrong, difficulty is great, but enemies with huuuge health pools isn’t difficult; it’s annoying.

That being said, I do think Anet has produced a wonderful MMO with wonderful potential, but I can’t fool myself into thinking it’s perfect. It has its flaws, and talking about them really doesn’t accomplish much, but I was in a typing mood. And honestly, I needed an excuse to use the word masticate, because it sounds rather odd.

I have been on Emhry Bay since pre-release, and I have the same problem. In fact, like some others here, I didn’t even realize (until now) that it was possible to hit a non-rich node multiple times! I feel cheated

I was pretty worried I would miss the party, glad to see you guys are making sure it is easily accessible!

I found the open world dragon fights to be much more interesting than the dungeon/personal story ones. The first reason is the cutscenes; they make the player feel detached from what’s actually going on. As for mechanics, it would be nice if he did a little more than stare at you while you poke him to death with those annoying cannons. “If you would like to kill Zhaitan, please press 2”.

I think the population is doing just fine. The population of all the NA servers is either “full” or “high”. The thing is, since the larger part of the people that bought the game are now in the higher level zones, and have stopped exploring and found their “niche” so to speak. What I mean by this is that most people are doing dungeons, WvW, sPvP, or farming PvE (i.e. Cursed Shore).

That having been said, Anet DOES need to implement something to encourage all of us 80’s, and people with map completion, to go back to the lower level zones. Someone above suggested doing this with the dailies, which is a great idea.

I was using pirate runes on my MF set before I started using a combination of Pirate/Traveller/Noble runes (which gives more MF, I would recommend this), and all I ever heard my ranger shout was “For Great Justice!”. I wonder if it is bugged for the other races too?

I just noticed that the green knight’s name was Bercilak. Well, I happen to be reading "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight right now, and the name of the green knight in that story is Bertilak. Unless this is just some kind of uncanny coincidence, could it be a reference to the Sir Gawain story (that would be amazing if it was)?

P.S. I would wager that it most likely is, since the sylvari seem to have strong ties to Arthurian legends.

I hope holiday events make a return, and I think a dev said somewhere that they would…
Also, Birthday Presents! I really hope they award them, too bad we’ve got about a year to wait lol.

I kind of like the corrupted abomination-esque atmosphere, but I do think the risen are kind of obnoxious. Maybe that’s how they are supposed to be, but map completion was a pain in Cursed Shore, what with those suckers pulling you around all the time. It’s a bit more fun now, because I just hop from DE to DE without caring about POI’s, etc. Also, at the time I completed it, there weren’t as many people in Orr, and having people to assist you helps a lot.
