Had this problem since the PoF beta weekend, sent in a ticket but no resoultion yet. Have tried a number of things but nothing has worked so far.. Interested to see if anyone has found a fix.

I’d love nothing more than to have the pvp from GW1 in GW2 (GvG, HA, RA, FA etc) it was the greatest mmorpg pvp I’ve ever played. But I don’t think most of those modes would even be able to work without a dedicated healer like we had in GW1. Things like GvG, HA where you wanted your highest ranked players on healers because it heavily relied on how good they were. Even in RA or TA, you wouldn’t expect to go on a 25 win streak unless you had a healer on your team and without healers I don’t think matches would last longer than 1-2 minutes in GW2 unless everyone went bunker builds lol. For game modes like FA or JQ they’d probably never end in GW2 unless there was a timer, people would just keep nuking the turtles since there are no healers and no one would be able to score.

Been gone from the game for 10 months. Has there been any talk about introducing new game modes? Or some sort of implementation of the greatness which was GW1 pvp? Back when GW1 was pumpin, the main thing that got itself a name was its great pvp. Now I know GW2 is a new and also different game, but ever since release and even still now I just can’t fathom why they would leave out or not implement one of the greatest aspects about GW1 in GW2 and still continue to do so 1 and a half years later. I’ve played a fair amount of mmorpgs over the years and back then and even now I can honestly say that GW1 pvp was the best mmorpg pvp I’ve ever played. You know what I’m talking about; Guild Vs Guild (GvG) and Heroes’ Ascent (HA). PvP that required skill and strategy. Even the Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry game modes were better than what we currently have.

Though I guess it’s hard now to implement what GW1 had since they decided to not have any dedicated healers in GW2. I miss playing healer in GvG and HA.

The WvW season league was a pretty big change, whilst it may have been unbalanced, long and we’re not sure what the reward will be (fingers crossed it’s something good after 7 weeks) I did enjoy getting easy achievements for doing WvW.

Those achievements tempted some PvE players into trying WvW, some may have stayed. Although, many players also left WvW due to some unfair match-ups. I think it will balance itself out and season 2 should be much better.

WXP is becoming account bound soon, which will be more alt-friendly and make players more effective.

Oh yeah I knew about those changes too. What i’m talking about is something major or new to make WvW more fun and less static and stale. Like perhaps a new map for actual WvW gameplay instead of some kitten you “play on while you wait to get in real WvW” or WvW only skills or kittening something. It’s kittening been well over a year and nothing good or major has been done to it.

So about 4 months ago I posted here about how I had been gone for 4 months and still kitten all had been added to WvW. So after waiting another 4 months in hope for something decent to get done to WvW, has anything worth mentioning actually been done to it or at the very least in the progress? I know this bloodlust bullkitten got added a fair while ago and I know of the “Edge of the Mists” map that’s being tested wasting time on this kittenty map which while it looks nice, has no affect on WvW score. Does arenanet even ever intend on making the WvW more enjoyable and more dynamic? It is stale as kitten after over 1 year of nothing major or worth mentioning being done to it I honestly don’t know how people still play it. Please if I’ve left something out and there is something worth mentioning, please do tell me about it.

I doubt anyone is jealous. In WvW’s current state, winning means nothing and also because anyone and everyone has the power to move servers.

I miss RA, HA and GvG from GW1 and I miss playing healer. GW2 pvp is atrocious in comparison.

Just read the live stream notes and I am disappoint. Given the amount of new pve and spvp content and over the course of a year there STILL has not been merely one new map for us in WvW or really any exciting changes at all. The new bloodlust kitten seems (okay) and I will definitely try it out, but I strongly doubt that it will be enough to get me playing the game again.

Time to go away for another 4 months or more even?

Yea.. Up until 4 months ago, I played long hours everyday which was probably 90% spent in WvW because it was fun. I just got tired from waiting patch after patch and nothing drastic being done to WvW. I got bored and it just felt like a grind. I was at least hoping that maybe if I stopped playing for somewhat a lengthy time that I could come back and be surprised but instead everything is just about exactly the same.

Haven’t read most of the thread apart from first page, but why is there still no (decent) looking armor sets and weapon sets that can only be acquired through WvW? You know, a variety and nice looking ones like the ones you can obtain through PvE. Invader armor and weapons are fugly.

I’ve been gone for 3-4months and there is still no real PvP Like GvG and HA from GW1 or at least some differentiated implementation of these two game modes. Why not? Why are they focusing on this crappy and boring mode like conquest and trying to make it an esport. I know this is a “different” game to GW1, but why leave out one the best aspects in GW2 and focus on some kitten mode.

Go to SoS. I’d love to see the server make a comeback.

Well apparently it has been over the past few weeks, months.

BG = Eat a wave of guilds, win 1 week, get stomped following weeks, wait for another wave of guilds to eat, etc etc. Rinse and repeat. The only reason blackgate’s server status is “full” is because of their stacked wvw population they’ve devoured. No idea why anyone would want to transfer there. JQ would be a better choice for guilds to go to, at least then you have a server who wants to fight.

BG doesn’t know how to endure, JQ is still a solid contender though. My apologies to BG, it seems a lot of your guilds stop showing up, but how you gain guild is not how one makes a strong community. Whilst you guys say you have one, from everyone I talk to on BG your guilds seem very segregated and do their own things for the most part. We’ve never had that issue on SoR for…ages now. Yes we gained guilds, at a slow pace, but we never begged nobody to come, they came on their own accords because they enjoy how we are as a server. We don’t point fingers, even when we were losing we still came out strong everyday during our primetimes. You guys, just decided to disappear completely. I don’t know if its playing dead or not but somethings not right. You guys have the people/guilds to still be contenders in T1 yet you chose to sit and moan instead of going out and playing. SoR has been the underdog until these last few weeks. All we’ve gained is an EU guild that chose to come to us over the other two servers and a decent morale booster. Its up to you guys to motivate your guys to come out, complaining really gets you nothing. Now get out there and kittening play the game.

BG knows how to endure, it has been kicked out of tier 1 twice and twice it has come back to the top tier. It has even managed to become 3 time champions of tier 1. The only other server to be kicked out of tier 1 and has managed to make it back was Stormbluff Isle. All the other servers, Henge of Denravi, Eredon Terrace, Isle of Janthir and Sea of Sorrows have freefalled down the tiers, without ever coming back to tier 1.

Jade Quarry has never experienced what it’s like to be kicked out of tier 1, and neither has Sanctum of Rall. You should respect the resilience and resolve that Blackgate has shown, and will continue to show.

The farthest I can go back is right when HoD collapsed. But back during the days when HoD was a power house I remember us being kicked out of tier 1 for only 1 week. ET took our place that week and we moved down to fight in tier 2 against CD and DB.

Im sure any of the older JQ members (even you TW guys) might remember that week as we crushed them after about 5 hours of fighting.

So yea JQ has been though the whole falling out of tier 1 thing, We pulled though it though and honestly with the way they are talking about reseting how match ups work it does not matter at this point.

JQ still has the most tier 1 one week battle wins in NA. Second in the world.

Also we have been in tier 1 the longest out of any single server.

SoR has the staying power that JQ has now as long as they can keep a tight knit community like JQ has had since release. Looks like we might become the next sor <3 JQ after sadly the JQ <3 SBI died with sbi ;_;

BG sadly tends to go super hard pushing for like 3-4 days then burns themself out. I have yet to see much of BG out in force since the one week they really pushed after getting WM.

Its not just about having strong WvW guilds, its about having a strong WvW community. Every single person matters in WvW down to the yak walking/siege refresher/scout up to the voice coms commanders. I think this is where a lot of servers go wrong is where they like to think the WvW guilds will just carry them, when in the end they end up burning themselves out.

dont worry bg has that community as well. we wont be going anywhere

Last time TC fought SOR we beat them by 300k…… a much much much much much weaker version of what SOR is now. Think about that.

Yeah but that was against a much weaker version of TC than what TC is now, and a match that featured a “dead” 3rd Server since SoR had poached most of their main WvW Guilds during the match (SBI).

Of course that doesn’t matter too much since math hasn’t been invented that can accurately describe the size of SoR Trolls’ egos

If all it took was 1 euro guild for us to go from losing around 50k to winning around 50k in T1 what do you think is going to happen when TC vses us.

What everyone is forgetting, is that the ratings will adjust basted on the relative ratings of each opponent just like it does now.

So lets take an example here. SOR vs TC vs Mag One server from each Tier.

Projected ratings for next week are:

SOR 2214
TC 2000
Mag 1830

The ratings are so far apart that SOR would have to CRUSH I mean destroy both servers by 150k+ rating for SOR not to lose rating. This gives Mag and TC a chance to gain rating if they push hard, because they will gain and SOR drop if they put up any sizeable resistance.

Then, when that week is over, the new ratings will be used to calculate the next week (plus the random generator).

What this means, is the underdogs of each matchup have a huge handicap where rating is concerned. They don’t have to beat the higher rating server, they just have to put up a fight, and the ratings will adjust.

Which server folds after the first weekend? Which servers fight tenaciously every day despite being outmanned? Those servers who keep matches as close as possible will find themselves shooting up the ladder. The higher rating servers that grow too complacent in their 50k leads will find themselves losing rating.

All in all, I think its a GREAT idea, and WvW would be MUCH better off it was done six months ago, however, better late than never.

Now we just need a way in game, so the WvW noob/pug can see that fighting against overwhelming odds helps their server gain rating, even if they may be losing by 100k points. Like an MOS rank projector built into the WvW interface.

Sure but how would TC go against JQ? TC has also become stronger since you have moved into T1 (ages ago now).

Any T1 server would stomp T2 and below. You can thank JQ for initiating the stack wars and causing such a difference between the 2 tiers.

Wild card: SoR. They haven’t really been “tested” yet to see how they deal with losing after a long winning streak.

The fact that the majority of you all still think “winning” is the only reason to be playing WvW is beyond me. SoR history shows that we actually have not won many tiers. Only 4 other times have we actually taken 1st. We only rise. we won a T1 matchup and tbh if we loose a week or even loose 13 weeks again, it wont stop us coming out and fighting. Some of you should not care about the scores, it actually opens up so much more great things that come with just playing a game.

We play on NA servers. We have NA guilds. Your a NA server with not many NA guilds that relies on non NA coverage why should that be our problem. The way I see it we are the normal server here.

Isnt it funny how all last thread that you guys on Sor wanted Eu coverage to BALANCE wvw and thought it was great that now you have 1 that everything is balanced yet your NA is stacked to the hilt , and you all cry if its suggested that just maybe you should take your own advice and and balance out NA for the betterment of wvw T1 as a whole.

There were 10 major guilds that left SOS and went to BG and a few small ones. As for WM, yes they pretty much are all of Kaineng. They went from bottom tier to second tier purely because of WM.

Someone should post a list of all the guilds that transferred to jq. Think there were over 25 of them.

You are so full of BS. There is no way JQ is even stacked at all when compared to BG. You are right about the guilds though, a few of them did transfer, the ones from SOS anyways.

Just to point out here, most of my kitten was from SOR and the double teaming they have been doing. I didn’t really care that much about the fact that BG is the most stacked server I have ever personally seen, but your BG forum warriors jumped in. And tbh I don’t really care about BG being stacked, it happens its the way WvW is designed to work so I work with it. But don’t be denying the fact that BG is the most stacked server in recent history. Its yours so wear it.

Before the end of free transfers, the competition and coverage between Jade Quarry and Sea of Sorrows was tight, the 3rd tier 1 server could even produce a 3 way competition in some weeks. Each server could cover 2 timezones out of 3 timezones, having 1 blindspot which was counter balanced the other servers.

When the end of free transfers was announced, almost every single guild from any lower, middle or higher tiered server that was looking to transfer to tier 1, joined Jade Quarry.
Effectively doubling or tripling the active WvW population of the server. The rest of the competition didn’t receive much in comparison, 1 or 2 guilds here and there, but nothing like the 30+ guilds that transferred to JQ.

The end result was Jade Quarry completely smashing tier 1 without a contest for 3 months. When Jade Quarry tried they would beat the other servers with winning margins of 100k-200k+, when JQ has taken it easy and gone casual they’ve still been winning by 50-100k points. Jade Quarry is the most anti competitive and stacked server in Guild Wars 2 history.

The Blackgate you see now is a knee jerk reaction to keep up with Jade Quarry. Jade Quarry created this.

The sad part is that a lot of people predicted this 4 months ago and warned how this would damage the competition before it was too late, yet it fell upon deaf ears and JQ received another 20 guilds.

Personally I don’t care who wins. But I hate this whole super server stacking business, it’s damaging to WvW and it kills the competition. It’s good that JQ finally has an opponent to compete against now, but I’d rather have 3 way fights 24/7, where any tier 1 server can win it on the final day.

But please don’t go on claiming that JQ isn’t stacked, just please! LOL

As much as I hate BG, Cirus my good friend is actually right and JQ deserve this, although I’d say it was around 15-20 guilds.

SoS/JQ/SBI days were the most even t1 matchups.
JQ ruined competition. Forced others to try and get as stacked if they even wanted to compete which now = massive difference in t1 and t2 which = goodbye variety of competition.

He still continues to come on the forums and directly mocks BG for it. Now to the point, does it even matter ?? I don’t see anyone writing the names of the servers JQ engulfed on their way to the throne everytime they win. Why are you so mad that most servers prefer BG over SoR ?? If you look into that for a while, it might probably have something to do with your attitude and antics, both in-game and outside the game.

Now to the point, does it even matter ?? I don’t see anyone writing the names of the servers JQ engulfed on their way to the throne everytime they win. Why are you so mad that most servers prefer BG over SoR ?? If you look into that for a while, it might probably have something to do with your attitude and antics, both in-game and outside the game.

Well that is quite disappointing. I was ok with many of the ‘nerfs’ to my class in regards to decreasing power level in some cases, but I wasn’t ok with ruining the flow of the game play for me. That and some bugs/poor design that are applying things when they shouldn’t and are most likely causing their changes to have the opposite of intended effects.

So basically these changes are forcing people to babysit objectives, micro manage siege, and basically do un-fun time wasting things instead of fighting players. Sounds like a pretty bad patch and will negatively impact our matchup.

Everyone complains about zerg balls and ANET is making zergs split up, it seems. So…nay still? I truly am glad I don’t work for anet. They simply can’t win, no matter how carefully they think things through.

Nothing will ever stop zerging due to the map design and size.
