The thing is there are mega stacked classes, I’m not saying they shouldnt be nerfed (necro/rev), but there’s also counters… necro’s aren’t unbeatable at all, maybe it’s your build?

Having a tempest definitely helps, also having a lot of condi pressure.

Here’s the thing people don’t understand about this meta…

When you fight or are against one of those people that instantly die or just plays stupidly, they “feed”, which is the constant death and basically zero production to a team.

Teams can feed, people can feed. Just a lot of food up in here.

There is a point to that, though. When you kill someone quickly in ,say, a 4v4 on mid point. Then it becomes a 4v3, and if you have a thief they can go backcap while your team 3v3’s, or SO many possibilities after that.

People call the strategy “zerging” because once you have the stagger, and you win mid, and someone is watching mid/home against the backcap, rushing 4 guys everywhere is very effective in soloque and teamques. It’s just how the game works with 15s respawns.

People need to get over this “zerging is bullcrap” idea. ITS IN THE GAME AND IT IS BREAKABLE AND EXPLOITABLE YOU JUST NEED TO GET GUD ENOUGH TO DO IT.

Low health classes should be bump to medium health and then balance a bit accordingly on ele and guardian defensive stuff.

11k health without vita is just silly. The difference between high and low health is just too big in this game I feel.

I was talking to a buddy DH of mine as we both main it (he’s much more experienced than me with it), and we were talking about how the minimum health levels are a bit too low and if the thief/DH had a chance to have a base health pool of 15k like the mid level health pools allow, the classes would be much more balanced. Elementalist doesn’t require it because the perma boon protection uptime and instant 15k heals, but DH and thief could really use that bump up.

This is just brainstorming as a lot of thievs are wanting increased abilities, i don’t know if that’s actually required, maybe just a bump in health pools from the minor ones?

The health pools were made at the beginning of the game and since then the abilities of every class changed dramatically, additionally the roles have too, so I would hope maybe they would look into this?

If he only plays Warrior, then the MMR will balance out where he can perform competently on Warrior. No need to point fingers.

If you’re getting a game with crysis, he has played to your tier and is doing well enough that you guys wont have to carry him, he is at your level. So don’t blame him, this MMR work currently is the best it’s been, that being said the people that spammed games att he start and are now diamond get 1 hour long queues because there arent very many high tier players like that yet.

MMR is working and if you get crysis in a 30s qpop he is playing to that tier and doing it well, stop complaining.

Remember when ApeX won by running 3 bunkers, 1 sustain dps, and a dps? I remember that. 4Head. This is the same meta, just run the bullkitten like everyone used to and it’ll all be good. Eventually there will be a dps comp that will come out and beat it like the last time.

Mesmers don’t need a nerf, the only classes needing a nerf are Dragonhunters and Scrappers. Both of those classes have the survive of a tank and dps of a shatter mesmer. Although chronomancer has its use and it’s definitely a good class don’t nerf it, it doesnt need it at all.

So what if burn gives a build spike damage, for builds that rotate around that one condi like burn guard and burn engi, it’s literally 1 condi clear from negating it, kinda like how 1 block or 1 invuln blocks power bursts. No, this will never happen. Cap it at 25 if we need a cap, I get hard countered by too many GOOD PLAYERS to have this happen to me, not you people crying cause you want to play CS thief against a burn guard or PU mesmer with 0 condi clear against a 3 man condi comp.

while I’m at it, lets just cap the 15 torment, 15 confusion mesmers, they do the same damage, same idea, but instead of it being 1 condi removed to negate the burst it’s 2 OH LORD JESUS PLEASE NO. Oh I have an Idea too, the 3k/sec ranger dps condi builds, yea, need to be nerfed too.

This will not happen. Put some kitten condi clear on your build and nut up, or get gud and learn to deal with them.

I believe it does, it’s like fire/air sigil just you won’t gain health. The damage is slightly less than fire but it heals so it’s more worth it than most regardless

This is terrible, stop complaining and make your build able to handle conditions, if this is @ burn guards you’d be nerfing a class that has a ton of couners and if this is at ele’s tell Anet to nerf ele’s instead. Here’s an actual explanation on why thieves together don’t work.

Similarly as said before, they backcap, and +1 and spike damage when a target is vulnerable and survive on invisibility, rather than having a mesmer or something that could at least hold a decap, a thief will never hold the decap so you’re already down a few points unltess you’re lucky with 2 dd ele’s.

Then, the burst on a thief is high, but it’s not nearly as high as the classes that run Berserker now, so the damage cannot solo take on a dd ele or nearly anything in this meta which is a sad thing.

With those 2 things being said, if you can support your thieves and give AOE damage and support and kill one enemy and stagger them, 2 thieves will provide the dps and +2 (cause you have two thieves) to nearly every fight and you’ll annihilate them. Sadly, not many thieves cooperate that way or know when to pull out of a fight.

So, if you’re not the thief in the 2 thief comps, run either your highest dps fun build/class or your tankiest, cause your team will either need to 1 shot everything or sustain long enough your thieves would kill everything.

New Report of Backstab Damage: 19 K. Backstab have recharge time- 1/4 seconds. Why give a high damage skill a very low recharge time with almost instant re-charge? How is this challenge for other professions?

Last time I checked this was 2015. Maybe you should check thread ages before you start spamming “evidence” all over the place.

You missed the point he was making, thief has always and will always be in the meta and it’ll always be strong, this thief, while it’s not able to truly counter anything, it can do almost anything in the game. Cleave, rez, 6k backstabs, set up dps, backcap, it’s the most all around thief we’ve ever had. This guy you’re trying to disprove in the use of a sentence is right. This mechanic is very strong and it’s unarguably very good.

The thing about thief is they are meant to pick their spots now, if you’re a thief trying to burst a full cooldown medi guard then yes you’ll be dead in seconds or a shocking aura ele, you’re simply stupid. Pick your points and you’ll do anything you could ask for in a game and dominate very easily nearly never dying and racking up the kills/caps.

Some things I’m worries about on the berserker just at the first look are…

They get a heal that heals them for 100% damage they output, and we know currently a warrior can do a 10k combo, while a guardian merely gets a 20% heal on damage, I’m kind of looking for a buff to guardians then.

The new skills don’t seem too broken since a lot of warriors already run 2-3 stunbreaks and the elite also stuns you so you’ll have to double pop skills to make it work and warriors generally run counter pressure utilities so they aren’t going to be too great as these are just offensive, not defensive in any manner. New zerk build will come out, but I feel shoutbow will be a thing with torch soon enough.

They said rampager will be a class of fast skill use and rapid attacking so I’m not surprised about a lot of this but i expect there to be

Then they moved onto the weapon F1 skills with berserkeer, again they’re going to change the meta for sure, alot of condi availability is coming out of this warrior buff so I expect to see longbow/sword torch again potentially. or even a cele with axe instead of sword or even mace, the new F1 is looking like cover condi central.

The fact that this berserk doesnt exist the entire time like reaper or dragonhunter does with their utilities is a nerf to the spec, this is the first class that doesnt have the changes at all times to their F1-F4, so we’ll see how that works in a pvp play, definitely gives some adversary.

Idk, I will probably still roll guardian with all this, I dont see this being too much of an issue except cele warrior will do ALOT of damage.

There’s a rune and a trait (Rune of Flame Legion and Fiery Wrath in Zeal), both of which stack 7% damage increase to burning foes, I’m curious if these stack to getting +14% damage to burning foes or how it would stack otherwise?

I mean, watch ESLs/past WTS’s, watch what happens if someone invulnvs on a timer or something. They get blown TF up after it. Just time your punishment. Damage in this meta is higher than it’s ever been I wouldnt worry about punishment apparently you need to practice landing it.

Not sounding rude or at least trying to. But you know the mist from vamp, just time your burst, but dont use all CD’s for it cause some thieves dodge right out of it expecting that burst.

Idk, timing i guess. This is a dps heavy meta with true zerk PU mesmers, medi guards, and all this Cele running around everything has damage spikes.

Again, this picture is supposed to show what people to to AFK, not just DC. Please instal an AFK/report button and please give that player dishonored if they see it suitable.Even if it’s based on chat like most of the reports in gw2, it wa evident that he was AFK with the lines of conversation due to the 4v5 and no point in trying.

Although i dont mean to point out any players, this player seen in the screen shot decided that from a dispute in a previous game, to spam 1 instead of fighting.

Either we need an AFK report button and they get dishonored and prevented from playing unranked/ranked for a X amount of time or a mandatory factor into team matchmaking is blocked players cannot be on the same team.

Invis/bunker meta if you run a mesmer and otherwise cele meta incoming. Hope you enjoy it! Cause y’know, too many people qq about not dodging 2 skills on a mesmer and not focusing them and RIP. So sad.

So I’m not gonna stand here and say mantra mesmer wasnt broken. It could burst literally any class 100-0, if you need proof of it go watch the recent AG tourny on GameWithStorm’s account and go to the temple fight. Although it was spotlighted during the stream, watch the bunker guardian 1v1 a mantra mesmer and see his health go from full will all buffs but protection to zero. That shouldnt happen.

Here’s what Anet did to mesmer after seeing that:
Got rid of the possibility of running mantra as it now (heal for example) has a 10s CD, a almost 1 second charge up, and if you dont trait for that mantra it does something like 2k heal? Speccing into it gives something like 6-7k heal. When instead you can go for a guaranteed 20s heal, over 6-7k almost guaranteed because you have dodge clones on PU build.

Additionally, they were like, y’know what. That’s not enough. Not enough what so ever. We need to destroy ALL mesmer builds. So lets nerf GS damage by removing a mirror blade. All this from 1 simple build.

Now, we as mesmer have 2 builds to choose from if we dont want to become food for the entire game. PU mesmer who has had about a 3k damage nerf on greatsword. or Bunker mesmer. Cause having to charge up your burst for a total of 2 seconds (both mantras) to land a very easily told burst wasnt enough.

If Anet wanted a balanced game they would’ve nerfed the healing after channeling mantras or got rid of that trait in general. and Boom. 5.2k healing gone on a mantra mesmer.

Anet— If you wanted to make a balanced nerf you would have realised that mesmer was broken but it was a quick patch to fix. You destroyed the class and welcomed back the boring cele meta of about a month ago. This meta was exciting. 1 mistake and you’re dead against any class and rotations had to be on point. I hope you nerf the survive on ele’s soon so we can get back to a meta that’s exciting like that. Cause this meta is going to be the tankiest we’ve seen since there will be no damage to counter it.

I’m prepared to see 2 dd ele, 2 cele necro, engi comps now since there is no consequence to running cele necro now and it can kill DD ele’s and nearly any class in the meta now. But don’t worry, it’s a high tier meta spec on the most favored NA team, it wont be nerfed

What is up with this Blind Obsession?

I see blind duration on other classes as an issue, but a thief uses it as it’s core ability. Simple things in the game give classes uniqueness, a mesmer has invis/shatters, a thief has invis/blinds, a guard has durability and heals, etc… if you take away these blinding issues on a thief (most of your points were directed) then you nerf thief and we’ve already seen today in the ESL how good 2 mesmers work if you want to run that. So I don’t think these nerfs need to happen on thief.

That being said, having mesmer/thief/guard/ele all having immense amounts of blinds and 3/4 being used for most games in tPvP i can understand the frustration.

Keep in mind what will happen to meta if these blind nerfs happen too (that you suggested)

Thieves would potentially leave meta as their secured stomps and blinds against very strong ranged classes would be gone.
Mesmers would be completely idiotic not to run, they would have maybe 1 class to fear?
Ele’s would go to earth, and I know how much QQing is going on with fire ele’s but i would 100% rather fight a fire ele than an earth ele. THEY DIE SO FAST.

The point I’m trying to make clear is that it’s 1 ranged auto attack that you’re being asked to land on anyone on the battlefield, a mesmer clone, a necro minion, literally anything. It’s not hard to do.

To me this is more of a “how do I kill a DD ele” post than anything. Simply put, have a thief and a mesmer, or a necro. A thief/mesmer can combo to break an ele in under 10s if the thief can steal the stability off the ele and the mesmer will stack daze and burst. A necro is the best 1v1 counter to this ele build at the moment anyway.

Tbh a thief CAN 1v1 a DD ele, but it needs to be VERY smart when it bursts if it is SA and if it’s Crit strikes it needs to be very mindful of its dodges and what it’s dodging.

Otherwise I’m not entirely sure what guardian builds if any can beat an ele and such like that. So just coordinate with your ele/necro/thief/mesmer on the team or any combo of those and you’ll be fine.

Whenever you’re in a hotjoin match and you try to preview a build your game instantly crashes. Although this isnt a huge issue, for ESL and shoutcasters it would be a shame to skip the build preview w/ this new meta.

I’ve never seen or played a game without a proper solo Q system except gw2 obviously.

I know as crazy as it sounds but some people like myself actually like the randomness you get from solo Qing, Either in a FPS game or MMO. For exemple in a FPS game you join a random game and end up with 3 hackers in your team which is much more fun than playing with the same 5-10 people ……

Anyway I wish the game didint force people to team up. Not everybody wants to do it or can match the gaming schedule of their teammates.

If i want to log in for 30 min for some casual pvp , I should be able to. Just like try hard people can go to ESl and win actual money.

Solo Q in this game dosent exist since the crap patch. And the additon of guild PvP teams will kill it even more.

Even if most premades can be beaten by pugs, I dont feel like trying hard and playing with an unfair disadvantage vs full premade on voice coms..

And making such a horrific solo Q expeirence will also affect other people that want to play in a team. Unless all their friends have no liife and are always there to play with them, there will be a moment when they will be forced to solo Q and get farmed by premades.

So why does this game hates solo Q’ers so much to pair them with 3 mesmers against a full premade 3 games in a row? Im just giving an example, you dont need to verify my PvP history … So Why is that???!!?

Just cause I know you in game… you were about to quit the game and you wanted to leave asap but you’re back to actually caring about the game? You’re either a troll or a tryhard, you can’t be both :P

With that being said, Anet doesn’t care about soloq and they never will. It was a solution to people qqing over the fact that they couldn’t effective duo queue against full team but since so many people have quit the game since that patch, it’s no longer an issue really.

I also agree that this team guild thing is amazing but ONLY IF THEY PUT IN A SOLOQ OPTION SO THAT THESE TEAMS THAT RUN IN UNRANKED AND RANKED WILL NOT STOMP THE SOLOQERS THAT DONT HAVE A TEAM OR JUST WANT TO SOLOQ

I like the idea of the penalty but they I say the health that one would be rezz’d at the be whatever it originally would’ve been. When you think about this theory it’s promoting the use of tankier classes which is a MEGA kitten for Anet as they loved the cele meta for over a year but with the changes, everything will be unkillable so I’m not sure. I do agree on the 4 downs(or even 3 downs) in 1 min = death. That makes complete sense to me and I’m all for it. This would be a semi nerf to banner and a change of pace as, say, a power necro downs twice in a team fight, gets bannered, then that necro would have to pull out even if his health is very high due to the fact that the pressure he would be getting might cause him to insta die. It would also allow for a new rally system idea where a guy could be up, having been on his last life and someone in downstate can rally off that person.

I’m all for it. I dont like the health nerf when rezz’d but i do like the idea of downs counting as tick to being perma dead. Also promotes teamwork so players (whom will not be named) that spam far all game will be hurting the team overall.

I completely agree, if you calculate the price for WoW’s expansion (where nobody is complaining) it would be 36 months (about), 15$ a month, which is 540$ alone. then a 40$ (I believe that’s average for WoW) you’re looking at 580$ total spent. INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL GAME which the WoW price does not include, you’re looking at 110$ for 3 years.

c’mon guys. Let it be. Use the extra account to your advantage.

50$ for a 3 year game isn’t bad, the fact that some people are complaining when, if you’ve been willing to invest money into this game outside the initial purchase, you’ve most likely spent at least a hundred dollars over the 3 years, this isn’t bad at all.

To me, the in game purchase is just a benefit, for PvPers like myself, It gives us a new account to run on EU and learn new things and play at a high tier that sometimes NA doesn’t have and reverse for EU players.

For PvErs and WvWers I’m not sure what benefit this is, but the fact that most of HoT is for PvE and WvW, if you’re part of that section of the game and dont want to buy this I ask why? Guilds will be running smoother and more together, GvG’s are in a distinct zones that can’t be interrupted and even 5v5’s 15v15s and up to even 50v50’s if you need be this is all gonna be for the people not in PvP.

The only people I see complaining about HoT is PvPers cause they don’t receive nearly as much useful things as any other section of the game. They gain new weapons on their classes and the reventant. That’s about it. Most won’t use their Guild castles cause you can’t queue from outside the HOTM anyway. So to me, complain about this if you’re PvP, but any other section of the game is gaining a second game to me, everything will be much smoother, much more customizable, and much more together for all other guilds that run.

I’m going to go through the struggle fest that is a renovation of key bind changes within the next couple of days and I’m curious what you guys all run for your utilities and such outside the WSAD that i plan on keeping.

I have a mouse with an available 7 buttons i can use for any assignment so if there’s any suggestions with those crazy ones, post it anyway.

If this doesn’t get much response i’ll probably wing it and see how it goes. Everything will be efficient with practice.

Abjured had a medi guard, a power necro, and a s/d thief or panic strike? and still won?

Although they had that, they did struggle against teams that held the mesmer surprise so I do feel a mesmer will be the way a team beats abjured. Simply put as i’ve stated before, a team that formed about 2 weeks ago was able to put 260 on abjured on Niflnel LPBW and they had a mesmer due to the fact a mesmer can rekt a celestial and zerk just as equally kitten a zerk class if played cautiously.

Looking at those generic summaries of the meta classes and the debatable ones, how does a team decide the last 2 spots and what to fill them with. And looking at the games today, I think that answer can be found. When looking at the team setup, I think it’s fair to note that having 3 zerks and 2 celestials is the best and highest reward based comp in the game. And as the strongest classes break down to and the generally known required classes to have, 2 zerk and a celestial are already on the team. So basically, between Cele Engi, Cele Ele, Zerk Mesmer, and Zerk Necro there has to be the perfect mix of classes to provide the strongest team. And looking at counters and who beats who with the most success, the best Mesmer in the world beats the best power necro in 1v1’s and single target damage which is the current meta strategy, focus damage. Similar to that, the engineer actually provides damage onto the opponent and doesn’t simply out last them and in a 1v1 with cele ele, it just depends who messes up the least and the class that hits the mistakes harder is a celestial engineer.
Based on both of these thoughts on what class can focus the hardest and what class can truly pack the biggest punch for your team while not being downstate food, a Mesmer and a celestial engineer needs to be on your team to have the utmost success in this meta. If there is a close relationship between the zerk players, there can be 100-0ing all over the map and a great success for the teams to have as shown on the Abjured vs LPBW game as the thief on Abjured got 100-0 due to coordinated burst.
Overall this tournament was an awesome reminder of the uniqueness that each team has and the issues they can fix and also the new things they can present. Obviously this is completely in my opinion during the analysis stage but general trends don’t lie very much either though. I can’t wait to see these teams work together, practice, and meet up for the next WTS tournament to match up against Abjured and knock the crown off the king for some crazy amount of weeks.

Analysis
Overall this tournament was a thrill to watch with some games coming down to the last point winning 501-499, and some coming down to that last bit of cleave and that last critical hit that killed a downed player. But what can be taken from this massively long tournament.
Looking at the team that surprised the world, LPBW gave the Abjured the biggest run for their money of all teams in this tournament. From their comp, they had the standard shoutbow, panic strike thief, and DD ele, but from there they changed a bit up. They ran a full DPS burst based (not spike based DPS like the hammer meta used today) and a shatter Mesmer when has been edging back into the meta on NA very slowly as it has been known to be able to 1v1 power necro’s and 1 shot meditation guardians very use full against the abjured since they run both.
Looking at the 2nd place team, however, CS ran nearly the same comp, just build changes. They ran the same shoutbow, panic strike thief, and DD ele spec as LPBW but they ran a meta bunker guardian instead of the full burst that LPBW’s guardian enjoys running and also a celestial Engineer. This is a very meta spec so I don’t think I need to explain too much about how it works, but know this is a VERY tanky comp running 3 celestial instead of 2 they have 3 classes that can 1v1 and a couple that can 1v2 for a decent amount of time instead of going with the classes that will help role over enemies quickly, but they’re fragile.
Where do these teams find their success and how can they build on that said success?
From watching these teams and even booty bakery that has the perfect combination of these two teams listed above, there are so base classes required to be successful against abjured.
Strong Base Classes:
-Shoutbow: Provides a free rez, a very strong tanking player, and an AOE 6k heal while also able to deal a lot of damage as might can reach up to 20 stacks making all attacks this class uses a death threat for they all hit HARD.
-Panic Strike Thief: Not only is this class a dps train, but it sets up the entire team for a huge burst that can be coordinated very easily as the immobilizes supplied are endless for this class.
-Medi guard: This class, while the build is debated, the class is a must in a successful team comp as it is the only sense of stability and a huge crowd control based class while also being capable of hitting 4,5,6k in a single skill which otherwise can only be hit on thief., very similar to the “Man-bow” build used in previous metas otherwise called the Zerker Hambow.
The Debateable Classes:
- DD Ele: This build is the single handed tank of GW2 right now, it has some outer heals but nothing near the 16 second cooldown multi shout heals that shoutbow provide, but nothing can hold a point better than a DD ele when asking for a bunker. Additionally this class is very fast and it applies a lot of might so coordinated with a shoutbow, you’re looking at 25 stacks of might and a very strong fight on point. So this class is in question on how useful a tank that can’t heal very well is.
Cele Engi: This class is a part of the Abjured meta and is the CC/DPS version of a Cele ele. This is the condi bomb and lock down class in gw2 right now while also able to hit up to 4,5k on some skills. The issue, is it’s it own counter. CC and conditions will destroy this class so sitting on point with a cele engi or fighting a thief can sometimes really hurt this engi as conditions are apparent in most classes in this meta.
Shatter Mesmer: Shatter Mesmer is the one class in this meta capable of 1 shotting and truly destroy an opponent but it is the definition of a glass cannon so the invuln that is on this class is a necessary thing to master when a thief is hunting you down. Additionally this class provides a nukeable ability with portal to out rotate the opponents and provide movement benefits to slow classes like medi guard and necro.
Power necro: Power necro’s are the AOE nuke class. Simply put, this class knows how to hit a point HARD. The issue? No stability and very little ability to sustain in 1v2’s and against CC based classes where a Mesmer or engi would have had a very easy time with.

First I’d like to thank the teams participating in the ToL 3 NA and congratulate the final 4 teams which made the end of this a nail biter on who would actually make it to the finals.
Final 4 (I wish I could reference direct players but it does not allow it in the description so forgive the build titles as names.)
Abjured vs. Little People Big World
This was a very excited opener to the final 4 as the LPBW is a very new team but with recognizable players. LPBW opened the match very strong taking out abjured DPS (Medi Guard/Thief) right off the bat giving them a strong advantage on point. The Abjured, known for coming back from hard hits like this do it yet again as their celestials kited the map, the burst classes came in and kept the game close as they decided the target needed to be changed and hit hard. LPBW’s dps guard and Mesmer became a strong target to hit and once they were taken out LPBW struggled to keep up with the DPS and were taken out in a 2-0 fashion. Although they were swept, this group was a pleasant surprise to see coming from a new team and scoring more than most teams coming against The Abjured.

Cunning Stunts vs Booty Bakery
Composing of known players and part of a disbanded ApeX, Booty Bakery were a pleasant surprise to be seen in the tournament sweeping very strong teams and giving one exciting game in the elite 8. But they have to go through the 2nd best team right now in GW2 NA, formerly known as Risky Business, Cunning Stunts. This was expected to be a very exciting match as both start off extremely strong in most games and but fall off near the end so it was the battle of the persistence. This persistence was handed to the CS team as they kept the pressure up with their triple celestial comp against the triple zerker comp. The 2-0 game was handed to CS in a slightly let down play from Booty Bakery and the weight they carry, though give it a couple weeks and Booty Bakery will could potentially take the 2nd place team title, and who knows. Maybe even first!
Finals:
Abjured Vs Cunning stunts
This game is always a very hyped match between the two teams that just seem to never lose against anyone ranked under them. Abjured are the champs and the powerhouse of NA and Cunning Stunts comes in as the underdog. With this being the best of 5, CD knew they needed to win the first game of the series to make known their statement they wanted to have in this matchup and to allow themselves to have a small buffer as the3rd match was guaranteed to be played on foefire, the scarest map to have to play Abjured on. Sadly, this matchup did not hold up to the hope of the viewers on the stream as Abjured turned on full throttle and annihilated the 2nd place team winning the legendaries and the ToL.
