Story modes are as hard as they should be. There should be tokens for completion though, at least on your first completion. Explorable modes, however, are just too easy.

The idea behind the naders was to stop speedrunning. It’s a stupid fix to it tbh.

Oddly enough, it didn’t fix anything but encourage more cheesing of the instance.

Method 1: Kill two “tank” one. You can just juke nades and not take any damage without dodging so anyone including glass cannons can tank it.

Method 2: Spawn instance, start event then make a sandwich or whatever. 13 mintues later waves stop spawning.

Method 3(optional): Kill all 13 waves of extremely high HP, completely unrewarding mobs that will continue to spawn while bosses are engaged.

Dungeons are for lvl 80 Parties only ^^

Bring a warhorn. Fury is absolutely needed to max DPS and only warriors + rangers can bring long duration fury.

Well, I pugged an Arah the other day and the strategy for Giganticus Lupicus was, no joke, to pull him to the WP, take off all our gear and throw ourselves at him again and again. I’m not sure which is funnier, the fact that this is probably a standard pug strat, or that it works.

He has different abilities for each path. Path 1 = Cone spike, Flame Burst(melee), Dtooth ranged. Path 2 = Frost spike 1x + Ring of Earths, Flame Burst (melee), Dtooth that wipes all condis off him(horrible mechanic). Not really familiar with 3rd path as I prefer to avoid that one because of the time sink that is the destroyer. Impossible to wipe on, literally impossible yet still takes 10m+ in your average pug.

Pro-Tip for ArenaNet: Stop traps from invoking equipment damage. It is extremely annoying, not just in CoE but also some of the jumping puzzles.

I actually agree with that. Although, armor on makes it more fun.

Tanks make instances faster and easier. Example would be the golems before the laser, or the dogs at the start. Get a guard to GS pull onto himself while the team AoEs them down, vs having a chaotic kiting fest of single target DPS. I don’t care if you’re running 5 berserker’s, 1 tank + 2 berserker’s AoE + 2 random will clear trash faster.

All 3 fights are actually melee friendly. The spider one still requires some ranged behind you pulling the adds that spawn off you though. Just stand in front of the tree and DPS it, all spiders will spawn and aggro you so its up to your team to pull/kill them, which actually takes pressure off them.

I’m not a fan of people sponging off dungeon runs either. Tip for new 80s: buy 76-78 exotics, usually less than half a gold a pop and nearly as good as 80. No excuse to try to go from blues and greens to piece by piece dungeon exotics.

Easiest fix would be to lock players out during wipes, either through an actual lockout or an excessively long run back. Honestly, one if the biggest boons a tank brings is the ability to prevent a wipe from ever happening simply by keeping a boss in combat indefinitely.

I just did CoE exp mode today and I beat my 32k crit with a 41k crit. No food or potion buffs.

Those have next to no armor.

4 Glass cannons sure, but not 5 people running builds with survivability and damage. What are you going to do when your 1 tank/support cant keep agro since in dungeons the vast majority of enemies are fought in close spaces with AOE attacks? (Not to mention you cant just hit an enemy and keep them on you like classical MMOs)

I’m not sure I follow. If you’re saying 5 people in soldiers is better than having ranged DPS in berserker’s with a tank in soldiers, I’ll have to disagree.

The trinity still exists, but heavy doesn’t matter. Thieves and Mesmers are actually very high tier PvE tanks, for example.

Balanced team comps are the best overall. Five glass cannons who have to kite everything put out inferior damage to 3-4 damage builds + 1 tank and/or support.

The last boss is pretty simple. Kite/blind/aegis/cc the adds and lay into the boss. It’s the only version of the nightmare tree that’s melee friendly so it dies at least twice as fast as the other.

Knights are pretty annoying though, blind isn’t reliable against them because of their wells.

Yep, though I would place more of the blame on the system that allows one player to close an instance. Until it’s fixed, if you’re gonna do an alt swap, have someone else spawn the instance.

A better way would be retuning fights and mob layouts so that all paths are roughly equal in effort. Toying with reward amount tend to rub people the wrong way.

I disagree. Raise rewards based on dungeon difficulty with 20/60 as a baseline AND retune paths that are just too easy to warrent a 60 token reward. Problem solved.

There are 13 patrols and they don’t stop even after you kill the bosses. One method is to afk for 13 minutes after triggering the path… that one takes a while though.

If you’re talking about the packs of nightmare mobs near the end, it seems their type is random. Sometimes you get 1-2 knights total, other times you get 2 knights in a single pack.

Getting hit by the spiders poison spray ups your damage by a ton. The downside is it always gets me to stay in too long and die.

I went through my entire personal story save for the last mission, and since it has a dungeon requirement, I’d like to go back and do all the dungeons in Story Mode before finishing the personal story.

…Except I’m stuck on Sorrow’s Embrace because there’s nobody here. I don’t even have the option of using Henchmen. Is this dungeon unique in that regard, or am I going to find CoE and HotW equally abandoned? Really bad foresight on Anet’s part.

Sorrow’s Embrace is a dungeon that everyone should complete at least once, same with CoE. Both are so awesome.

Forgot about engi. Engi nade or bomb kit is the best vuln stacker in the game, so they definitely have a spot on a maxed out team.

If you’re looking to min/max:

DPS: Overall Staff Ele #1, Ranger/Necro/War can sometimes beat it on STDPS.
Tank: Mesmer if you have a Thief for weakness, Thief if you don’t.
Support: Staff Ele #1, Guardian runner up.

The other thing you need to look at is range. Classes that can deal great damage at range are usually at an advantage in most instances. Necros/Wars do amazing melee damage but subpar max range damage. Staff Ele/Ranger both deal their highest damage at 1200 range.

It is easy to complete it. The grind still feels like a Korean MMO. Set costs need to be cut by at least 30% if farming methods go, or at the very least sell unskinned(generic) exotics for 30-40% less tokens. The skins are what you should have to work for imo, not the stats. Fastest way to get “dungeon” loot is farming trolls right now
