I don’t want it to be some sort of self fulfilling prophecy, where we expect nothing will happen, so A-net does nothing on the justification we’re expecting nothing anyways.
It might be a bit slippery slope, but with literally no contact, and a general history of how our development has gone down, it’s not unexpected to just get one or two underwhelming changes as the expansion drops.

But there has always been dev bias against mesmer. Even back when all we had was Power Shatter for PvP lot of them thought we were broken af.

When Mirage hits live and if: Jaunt, Mirage Mirrors, Axe, Ambushes, Traits and any other things we as a Mesmer community came together to discuss about – isn’t fixed, then I won’t be bothering in picking up the Elite and sticking with core Mesmer until they try again in the next expansion.

Yep, now we have to wait 2-3 years until we get a better spec sadly

I think it will be impossible for Anet to fix Mirage in time for the expansion release and it will likely always be a bit of a mess in terms of the contradictory design and the overall clunky nature of the spec. However, Anet will pump up numbers, speed up animations and lower CDs and we’ll be able to make something viable out of it for all game modes – it just won’t ever be that…exciting compared to some of the other specs being released.

That’s also my biggest concern. They will just apply tons of band-aids on the Mirage and that’s it.

No, I don’t honestly think Mirage will be fixed. I think the new specs will be dumped into PvP mid season with little to no tuning. that ought to be fun.

I wish Anet would just give a statement on whether they will fix this spec and listen to our feedback or just tweak some numbers and ignore the fundamentally flaws of the mirage.

It’s hard for me say for how long they’ve been developing mirage as I don’t have any gaming developing experience or understanding of the working process of Anet team.
I believe Anet is listening to the feedback and will do what they can realistically, but I wouldn’t expect anything major, just tweaked numbers, trait reworked.
Honestly, I will be happy if they take their time, but eventually make mirage feel smooth and exciting to play, even if it happens mid/late expansion.

They said that the Mirage was the first elite spec of Gen 2 they designed. I seriously don’t know why they didn’t make a beta weekend ~2-3 months before release so they would have time to fix the specs.

The community gave a lot of feedback regarding the Mirage.

However, I fear that Anet is not going to fix the Mirage. They had ~2 years time to make up the concept of this elite spec and they did not realise how badly it synergizes with core mesmer, shatters, phantasms, etc. ( I don’t want to get into much detail because they is enough in other threads.)

And they also didn’t realise how clunky that the entire spec is (mirrors, ambush attacks,).

That’s why I doubt they gonna listen to our feedback. It’s also only ~30 days left until the release of PoF so they wouldn’t even have enough time to fix the Mirage…

What do you guys think?

I mainly played Mirage during the Beta weekend and here’s my take on it:

  • The mirage lacks synergy with core mesmer trait-lines. Core trait-lines are heavily focused around shattering illusions and buffing phantasms, which are counterproductive for the mirage.
  • The mirage is clearly not meant to shatter illusions because without clones you can’t perform ambush attacks, yet we still have the same F-skills! There should absolutely be different ones that synergise with the mirage’s design.
  • Phantasms don’t do ambush attacks and are therefore worse than clones so you dont usually use one of your 5 weapon skills.
  • Even clone’s ambush attacks are very lackluster, weak and clunky.
  • In order to do most damage you have to dodge and get mirage mirror, this means that you don’t always have a dodge available when you need it for survivability.
  • Mirages are required to keep up clones, yet clones die like flies in pvp and wvw. There is simply not enough clone generation available. Even with more clone generation they would still be too unreliant due to their low health and survivability.
  • As already mentioned, mirage cloak is a weaker dodge because of it’s reduced mobility.
  • The traid “Infinite horizon” should be baseline. I thought the main concept of the mirage is that clones attack with ambushes, so this trait is mandatory anyway.
  • The axe #2 ability should not summon a clone on the mirage’s casting position. Most of the time a clone won’t be summoned because enemies run away. This skill should act like staff #2 where you automatically summon a clone onto your target.
  • Mirage mirrors are a clunky design. They require you to walk to them (which is very risky in pvp and wvw) to gain mirage cloak (0.75 sec) which is not worth the risk and effort.

These are my main cons I come up with.
Anet still has one month time to fix the mirage. Hopefully we will se some readjustments!

Axe 2 hardly summons clones in pvp because of its weird behaviour. You summon a clone after a delay on your starting position. If you enemy just moves a slight bit you won’t summon a clone. It should act like Staff 2 where you automatically summon a clone onto the enemy. Furthermore, it should have an evade or barrier to compete with sword.

Axe 3 is just clunky. You teleport all over the place sometimes which means on top or under your enemy if there is certain terrain.

First of all, mirage mirrors are a terrible design. In PvP and WvW its way to risky to walk over to them just to gain a mirage cloak. Also, certain utilities such as crystal sands encourage the mirage to place mirage mirros ON TOP of enemies so you have to walk onto your enemy which is also a death trap and a completely bad design of a utility.

Utilities don’t do much anyway except giving mirage cloak. The heal skill does way to little heal compared to its cooldown and the other effects. And the elite skill should have its range increased to 600 range.

People will still take blink and null field when playing pvp or wvw because the new utilites don’t offer much … utility.

Mirage cloak is only good for stomping enemies to be honest. You lose mobility by not being able to dodge roll (super speed trait doesn’t negate that!) and ambush attacks are clunky and do not enough damage.

Infinite horizon (clones gain mirage cloak) should be baseline. Isn’t the entire concept of the mirage that enemies should not immediately know who the mesmer is? Also, the main “improvement” this elite spec got is mirage cloak so it should be obvious that clones can do ambush attacks as well. Its the main DPS source this spec gets and it sacrifices a kitten lot of utility and support for it.

It’s weird that there are traits that encourage shattering illusions, yet they are the main source of dps and should not be shattered as a mirage.

Superspeed when gaining mirage cloak should be 1 1/4 seconds because 3/4 sec is way too short. Mirage cloak should also last longer & the ambush attack window as well.

Start Mirage over from scratch, PLEASE.

This elite spec is the most disappointing to me. No real new class mechanic (just a block lol?) and the skills are too simple and everything is too much focused towards removing boons.

Too many things not working with this class.

1) We dont get an f5, mirage cloak is overall worse than a normal dodge which leaves us with ambush as the only thing we get from this spec. As mentioned mirage mirror doesnt work. It feels suicidal to run at a specific area just to get a 0.75 dodge, too risky and lucklaster.

2)Ambush is the only thing that we get in the end. However THE ONLY weapon that has a good ambush skill is scepter and scepter alone.The rest of the weapons are terribad with ambush.

3) Because of (2) we basically have only one option for weapons which scepter/torch/Staff. That’s it, period.

4) Axe is unreliable at best and for a spec that has zero clone generation we are forced to either get mirror images as utility or deceptive evasion from dueling traits.Clone generation from axe is bad through and through.

5) …Ambush…again. We basically trade dodges (survivability) for burst dmg. AND we have to shatter in order to get our endurance back (vigor on shatter). That mean we need strong clone generation so check (4). Meanwhile the only survivability comes from invisibility so torch is mandatory and we probably will need decoy or mass invi.

6) Lets say i roam wvw, i usually play power shatter with decoy, blink, signet of illusions. Rarely i play condi with the same utilities. There is no point to use any deception utilities over the ones above as they are miles ahead and actually synergize. I could perhaps switch signet for one shadowstep but it just shows how bad the new utilities are.

7) This feels like a condi spec through and through. Core condi mesmer already performs well in a pve scenario and condi chrono is one of the strongest classes in WvW roaming/PvP. Meanwhile power shatter is a pure tryhard build that got nerfed while Anet was trying to nerf condi chrono. Good job on that btw. Why would u give, considering the above, another condi spec that pails in comparison to the 2 i mentioned above? There is simply no point in running mirage over those 2. Instead a power spec would be much more welcome and refreshing.

(8) In order to keep up the pressure or the dps we need to keep clones alive, yet we need to shatter in order to recharge endurance or spam meaningless mirage mirrors. At the same time phantasms, a major mechanic on mesmer, are completely useless with this spec as they dont use ambush. Also why do we still have shattering with this spec….it makes zero sense and has no synergy at all.

9) As mentioned in (1) we dont get an f5, we lose clone generation, we lose defensive power (no shield,cs,alacrity, no lockdown whatsoever) and all the skills apart from scepter ambush are weak, too weak.

All in all, even core mesmer is stronger than mirage at this point, let alone chrono which is miles ahead. As it stands now there is no reason to pick mirage in any single game mode.

Anet u have one month till release, better make use of that time cause this is not looking good…..

I am disappointed because all we get is a new dodge mechanic thats it. With chrono we also got just one additional shatter. Anet really doesn’t want to put as much work into mesmers as in other professions that get exciting new mechanics.

for example confusing images does 558 dmg over time and 7679 when the enemy uses a skill. torment also has the same dmg as before: 222 damage over time, 330 if the enemy moves.

Hey!
I am looking for a nice and active raid guild!

When the first raid wing came out I played it a lot and cleared it completely. After some time my raid group disbanded and I lost interest in raiding.

However, now I feel like raiding again and I am eager to learn new mechanics of bosses and kill them together with a team! I am also very adaptable and motivated to try out new strategies.

Of course I have ts3 and discord and own a functioning mic and like to talk

My classes are:

  • Chronomancer (Dps Zerker)
  • Druid (Healing / Tank)
  • Elementalist (Dps Zerker)
  • Revenant (Dps Zerker)
  • Necromancer (Dps Zerker)
  • Guardian (Dps Zerker)
  • Thief (Dps Zerker)

All of my classes have, at least, a full exotic gear (armor, weapons) with suiting runes and sigils and all of them own ascended accessoires. I also could buy some extra gear if, for example, the raid group really needs to have a condi necro.

If your raiding guild is looking for members drop me a line! I would really appreciate it!

We were promised to get huge, major balance changes every quarter year. But what we have got now is just a joke!

The needed changes and improvements of many terrible traits, skills, weapons of almost every class have been left out! I am hugely disappointed and frustrated about that.

Astral force charges too little. You take a long time to actually complete it. The cooldown is contra productive. And the degeneration out of combat is absolutely a pain!

Lingering Light: I don’t like this change. I prefer this shiny and beautiful wisp flying around you. It is just a good way to heal/deal damage at the same time and it looks wonderful!

Glyph of Unity: This skill is still bad and not worth taking it. Please rework it to something useful damage and healing/support-wise.

In general the glyphs are still bad:

Glyph of Empowerment: The damagebuff/time is still too short and should receive a buff. Maybe through longer duration/efficiency or due to other buffs!

Glyph of Alignment: Well a nice “buff” I guess. But still has no good damage ability!

Ancestral Grace: I was hoping for this change. Perfectly solved!

Celestial Avatar Form: Entering this form now has a 10s CD.
Bad change I think! The no cooldown option gave it a destinction from necro shrouds and made a real “full time” healer possible. But due to this change it isn’t the case any more!

(Celestial Avatar) Lunar Impact: Good balancing.

Grace of the Land: Well, 3% seems a bit too low. Maybe boost it up to 5% so druids will find a better place in dungeon/fractals too because of their buffs.

My suggestions: Give staff a bit more damage. Soloplayers would benefit from it! It’s a great weapon but in my opinion it should get a damage buff!

The first staff skill should be able to be casted on allies too!
Staff skill 4 should become a “high burst” attack and entangles mobs for 2 seconds at least.
Staff skill 2 should be more worth using. It casts and flies way too slow and does low damage.

Glyphs should become more worth taking in the “normal” form because they are only good in CA form.

Make their “normal” form skills damage based. Like real damage based and the CA form should stay healing focused.

I hope I can help you with my suggestions.

Druid changes from BWE3...

There’ve been some changes to Druid staff, glyphs, traits and Celestial avatar skills.

One change I can mention is that Ancestral Grace will now end as soon as you reach your destination rather than having to wait out the animation. We weren’t able to do this before with point-based movement, but an awesome programmer threw together a way for us to script it in.

As Belzebu calls out: You’ll have to check out the rest of the changes on the 23rd!

On a related note, all Sylvari player characters and Caithe were given the Wyld Hunt to kill Zhaitan. Was this Mordremoth’s influence?

As we know Sylvari belong to the elder dragon Mordremoth. We know he wants to take over Tyria. Zhaitan is dead —> means one less elder dragon which can be dangerous to him --> one less Elder Dragon to compete for Tyria’s magical resources. Mordremoth just has advantages of the Zhaitan’s death!

So could that mean that Mordremoth actually influenced Trahearnes Wyld Hunt to kill Zhaítan? So that there is one less elder dragon and he has more power to take over Tyria?

Sylvari is a playable race and there are no factions (atm) in the game so not all the sylvaris are evil but i hope we can kill trahearne. I hate that annoying character

Yeah, that is true. Many people would like to see Trahearne die. So a corrupted version of him would make a great boss to kill

Thanks guys for your feedback! My mind is clearer now although I think this sentence is not 100% sure what it means exactly. Maybe the devs wanted to give us something to speculate

However, I’d like to see Trahearne corrupted by Mordremoth because that would be very surprising and maybe we will fight him one day, it’s very unlikely as you proved me though because he has the strong protection of the mothertree for being a firstborn. But I think Mordremoth could now be much stronger than the mothertree. Even just a champion of him damaged the mothertree so that she “passed out” let alone what he himself could do to the mothertree and whole tyria…

Keep in mind they also pointed out Aerin was someone who disconnected himself from the dream and was able to be influenced by Mordremoth. To our awareness Trahearne is still very connected to the Pale Tree and her protection. (As far as we know). Honestly though if Trahearne ended up being a traitor…I think we’d all be very happy

But why did the pact soldiers turn against all others? They should be under the mothertrees’ protection too? So why did they currupt and not Trahearne?

So Trahearne was actually Evil?

This revelation came too late to prevent the Pact air fleet from launching its invasion, and Marshal Trahearne led his army into a devastating ambush on the edge of Maguuma, where Mordremoth’s influence was so strong that it turned many of the Pact sylvari against their former comrades. With the fleet destroyed, the Pact is now broken, and the only ones left to stand against the jungle dragon are the player and a handful of stalwart companions.”

So Trahearne was actually under Mordremoths influence, like Scarlet and Aerin, too? And he has the Pact Fleet died intentionally?

What do you think? Will we need to kill him because he is evil? Is he still alive?

Jeah rnd finishers are nice but maybe you can add a funtion to allow you deaktivate some finshers from the rnd list like the lower pvp finishers and the standart finisher. This would be perfect.
