Jumping Puzzles are getting out of hand

Sourde Noire.5286

The new JPs by Josh are much more ‘puzzle’ than the old ones, which were mostly just ‘jumping’.

Not saying I’m too fond of the idea of trial and error on samey looking terrain without a clear indication where to go. I did like the SAB Tribulation Mode that he also created, because at least there I had a general idea of where the path could be.

But the actual jumping bits in those JPs usually aren’t that bad and if you look at a guide on youtube and the likes they just take a bit. No need to remove them. Also gives skilled Mesmers a way to earn some coin.

indeed rng ?. opened a black lion chest and got an item with something out of wadrobe. chance for weapon skin. outfit. glider. or something else and i got a bronze sword skin. i thought ? ? rng. finally a chest key then the rare item and then a trash drop. i am happy there is a battlefield 1 update so i can play that further.
this bronze sword is just a sickness out of a package pure rage item.
and why? noone knows. there are lucky ppl in gw2 but its not me. but i dont gonna farm 24/7 to make gold for an item i have work irl and thats enough. gaming is to relax and not a second job but virtual. some ppl do. yes they have nice legendarys but not for me. i want the jack….. mini thing but 400 gold.

last halloween i saw an ascendent can drop from the bags worth 179 gold but ofc i dont get it.

wintersday gift can drop a ascendent recipe, ofc i dont get. ** it. every mmo is the same. with rng farm farm farm.

further the game is nice. graphics and sound but sometimes i want more for my work and not only the looks. its that i have a very nice guild with friendly and helpfull ppl. so i stay. sometimes guildmissions with discord. the new zone is nice i farmed 1 day with 6 chars for berrys (also with bad elementalist, what a fail weak class. yes i have good dps but its useless when killed by 5+ mobs and cant heal that much. and water is too weak)
and farmed 1 day more with 1 char for the chicken pet. and thats it for me the zone is completed.

Excuse me, but Elementalist is hands down one of the best if not the best classes in PvE. You should git gud. Otherwise 10 star structured and coherent post, thanks for your input.

On topic, Magic Find is an inherently questionable stat ever since they changed it (and maybe even before that). Since it only affects mob drops for the most part, that makes it a lot less useful. Not only are half the loot items in this game that come from mobs bags that aren’t affected by Magic Find (huehue), you also have Diminishing Returns kicking in as soon as you kill the same type of mob like 10 times and doesn’t decay for a certain period of time, making killing a bunch of trash mobs even less profitable.

Plus they need to balance around the fact that Magic Find is continually rising for everybody up until 300% base with additions from quite a few sources and people with high MF probably aren’t supposed to get much better drops otherwise people would complain about that. So, eh. I like to believe I get a few more Rares overall but MF itself is something you shouldn’t put your trust in.

Balance Changes Upcoming

Someone jokingly mentioned earlier that anet would also nerf epidemic too just to screw necros, well you know what? Epidemic deserves to nerfed in raids, that skill is completely ridiculous. It doesn’t just make bosses’ adds trivial, it makes them a negative for the boss, unless the fight is set up in such a way that necros are completely horrible (a la KC). With epidemic nerfed, it would be reasonable to buff other aspects of necromancer to make them more generally useful, which would both improve viability of necromancer and make raids better as a whole.

You say necro’s only reason to be in raids is Epidemic and you wanna nerf it? LOL
If you buff other aspects of necro’s builds then you will generate unbalance in pvp. And believe me, no one wants necro to be OP in pvp.
Epidemic is just right and needed to make the entire profession viable in raids.

Epidemic is FAR from right. There’s a reason why there are “5 necro meta” lfgs for high level fractals out there. Epidemic is OP as hell.
2x higher HP with an additional HP bar, with a ranged weapon that can easily make a 30k beeding aoe ongoing dps (without having to constatnly attack), is far away from just “okay”.

The 5 necro meta lfgs are just clueless pugs and far away from optimal. People chose to run 4 or 5 necros in fractals because they are bad and necros don’t die as fast as other classes.

It’s the synergy between them that makes them broken. Especially where there are a lot of mobs around. That being said, even 1 necro is dealing too much damage.
It doesn’t matter if it’s being played by bad or good players.
The fact that you don’t sacrifice anything (like survivability) to deal more damage than most of the other classes, is what makes them unbalanced.

It certainly matters who’s playing the Necro. Just today we had a Necro pug that kept using Epidemic on a lone boss with nothing else around. When asked why he said ’it’s just his rotation’.

Necro damage without the Elite minions is actually not all that great. It’s decent sustained DPS, which can be good for some fights (such as the Thaumanova boss) where you’re busy kiting, but the main reason for the Necro Fractal Meta is that Necros are quite durable with a low skill floor, so they are pug friendly. Balanced groups will easily beat the content faster.

I think this is the event I abhor the most in the game. Whoever thought that creating an event that pretty much requires application of CC at set times was a good idea when your average pug doesn’t even know what CC is or how to dodge or that standing there just hitting the auto at range isn’t the best idea when an event scales and is on a timer should be fired if it were for me.

If you want to teach players how to use CC, don’t do it in an event that I require for a few things and that keeps failing even though I try to tell people ahead of time what CC is, to bring the right skills and when to use it. I’ve been doing this event probably around 15-20 times, and managed to get a kill once. Keeping an eye out for squads to do it, trying to do it few people, trying to organize it myself.

If I could do it completely solo, fine. But having the success be dependent on all those ignorant people really sucks all fun out of this for me.

There’s already a solution in the game. Just click what you want to interact with first. It may be a nuisance if people place a ton of stuff around, but it’s not like it’s impossible to interact with the stuff. Even the infamous Nightmare Chest, because it’s so huge and easily clickable.

My biggest gripe is probably the disconnects. Especially because some instances seem to be more prone to them than others for whatever reason. I think I had to do the PS instance where you and Trahearne go into a cave to rescue a team and in the end fight a Lich and Abominations about 20 times, even though I’ve only done it on 10 characters. Mostly because I’d get a disconnect right at the end of this 20-30 minute dialogue fest.

The reason is probably, as usual, that they don’t know how to easily do it given the code and that they have more important things to do, but really. This existed in GW1 and it’s just the best feeling, knowing that, if you disconnect during the super long instance, you have up to 15 (?) minutes to attempt to reconnect with your progress being saved.

I mean, you may return to a wiped party and failed instance, but that’s better than a definitive kick.

While not that important, I’d like to see that QoL change as well. It was especially apparent for LS2 I felt, where you had to play certain episodes multiple times to do multiple paths.

If you don’t want the achievement buffs to take away from the experience, you could just hide them during the first playthrough, but still allow achievements to be done.

Or add a way to skip dialogue in subsequent playthroughs.

More dynamic events in mid/low level zones

In low level maps there’s usually too many people and events are completed quickly.

Mid level maps are usually so desolate that events are up forever.

Maybe you were just unlucky but usually every map is filled to the brim with events. You have to actually walk around and explore. Many events will trigger with a player around the area, look out for conversing NPCs, that is usually a sign of the beginning of an event(chain).

pls, bring back the NPC instaed forcing people in what they dont like

I was forced to do map completion, why shouldn’t you be forced to play my game mode since I was forced to play yours?

Having a legendary should be saying you have “mastered” all game modes. Obviously going through one reward track isn’t mastering WvW, but it means you spent more than a couple hours doing something.

I love your ‘I had to do something I don’t enjoy, that’s why we can never change anything to be better for other people’ attitude, you must be a blast to have as a friend.

Then your argument is that you must have ‘mastered’ all game modes to earn a legendary (when you can just buy one anyway), but at the same time you admit that finishing the track isn’t mastering WvW (the same way world completion isn’t indicative of mastering anything PvE related).
Please keep your non-arguments and bias to yourself.

As it remains, people who don’t care for it are now forced to play WvW, which is not only incredibly boring for them, it’s also detrimental to the WvW community with the people not willing or able to contribute anything being there and taking up spots. Unless of course population is so low that it doesn’t matter anyway and this is an attempt to artificially bolster those numbers on paper.

Sure, a legendary is supposed to show mastery of all content, but let’s face it, people don’t enjoy all types of content equally (no matter what ANet likes to believe). And there’s ways to get things without disrupting the game of people who actually enjoy the mode. You can get world completion and run by events leaving PvE players alone, you can go onto custom PvP servers to easily get dailies and finish reward tracks to get the PvP components without disrupting proper sPvP players. You could do EotM or just some WvW dailies and get a few Badges here and there and eventually buy the Gift. Now you have to actively clog up your server’s spots to semi-afk in order to gain some ticks.

The new option is clearly not in line with the rest.

When a group of 9 people, who all put in time and effort, gets flustered because the people attempting to join don’t know what they are playing and are thus effectively wasting the other 9 people’s time and someone thinks that is ‘toxic’ behaviour, then you have both a perfect example how ‘toxic’ is overused and pointless as well as how casual the playbase is (even while attempting ‘high level play’ content).

If you really get so worked up about people saying mean things directed at nobody in particular (which have merit in my opinion – you don’t need to know everything about the encounter, but being able to SEE what’s happening onscreen and reacting in a somewhat timely manner are no special skills), then I think you need to re-evaluate your priorities in life and in what you seek in games. Call this attitude toxic if you want, but in my opinion there’s a huge difference between experiencing ‘toxic’ behaviour (whatever that may mean these days) and lacking any sort of thick skin and looking for hugboxes.

Probably means that they all work the same internally, to fix exploits that allowed you to prevent invulnerabilities. I think they attempted to fix that in the past (not allowing old dark fields + projectiles to do that anymore) but some things still worked.

You could kill the Jade Maw or Liadri in the Queen’s Gauntlet despite their invulnerabilities to regular damage using life leeching combos or the items listed. Especially with Jade Maw it really sped up the second phase, you just placed the Rev with his Hammer close enough, use Hammer 4 + Shiro Heal + Imp. Odds and burst down the Jade Maw in 5 seconds.
I didn’t test it, but I assume this isn’t possible anymore.

All guesswork, of course.

Honestly, I never understood all this hate against Trahearne. I can only guess it’s this mentality of you as the player being the hero, wanting all the glory for yourself.

Before I had finished my PS years ago I was reading a lot of these complaints, thinking that Trahearne will be some kind of backstabbing glory-stealing shady character. But he is always grateful for your contributions and advice, he always mentions you as being important and so on. And he is doing a lot of work behind the scenes.

Second point is probably true, but the PS wasn’t so much about Destiny’s Edge anyway. That’s what the story dungeons are for and where you could get some additional flavour and backstory about DE.

Third point is the only one I can agree on, the battle both in the open world and in the story instance are good, though the latter suffers from too much dialogue and resulting hyper armor for enemies that drags out an already long fight.

Overall though the writing in HoT was ambivalent, I feel. It had good points, like the death (that was executed a bit too comic-y, unfortunately, but hey we’re in PG13 land here) and bad points, like the Deus Ex Machina ending, and some inconsistent tones.

Problems getting used to staff/meta builds

in Elementalist

Sourde Noire.5286

Use both Glyphs of Elementals (regular and Elite), summon Earth elementals, use staff to wreak havoc at range while your elementals pull all the aggro and hold the mobs in place.

If you want to have a bit more to do, learn to use the staff CC skills (Air 5, Water 4, Earth 4 and 5) to help hold the mobs in place.

If you run full glass anything should melt before it’s close to you (place Lava Font on their path so they pass through it to get to you). If things do engage you in melee you can use Fire 4 to retreat or place a Lava Font underneath you while running in small circles, the mob will run after you trying to hit you and eat the full damage. You can also shoot fireballs right under you while running (don’t have a target and aim the camera downwards), which can do splash damage to stuff running behind you (on top of the Font damage).

CC tutorial for dummies is needed

And that after some people hammererd in our heads NOT to use CC on bossfights
in SW ^^

Maybe Mobs should have a big red flag over their head with either “NO CCs” or
“Yes please .. CC me”

Well, that was bulldung from the get-go, since the bosses are literally immune to any CC. It’s the myth that the Trasher moves when you CC him (for whatever reason that came to be), when in fact he moves for every 10% you take off his bar, or after some time (and you can skip that by doing enough damage to shoot him into the next segment).

The base problem is that the base game and 99% of the combat in open world PvE is so coma inducing easy that people don’t need to learn anything about their class, the mechanics or their enemy to win. Then comes one enemy that requires something more and people can’t handle it, complain about it and it gets nerfed anyway. See HoT maps being nerfed after BWE and then like 3 weeks after release and now we’re getting ANOTHER nerf. Or how Orr was nerfed. Or how they downgraded a ton of enemies in the open world from Champions to Elites/Veterans.
The other day I had someone tell me I’m wrong by saying you can solo the Vampire HP in VB because you can just break LoS for the leech attack, because that must be some kind of weird OP exploit tactic, despite being rather obvious. But I digress.

A tutorial could help, and I can only go by personal experience, but I don’t feel the NPE did much in terms of helping players understand the game better despite all the gating and pop-up messages trying to explain things. As long as the vast majority of the game will remain this faceroll napping easy, any harder content will be a huge obstacle if not impossible to the average player, and there’s only so many times you feel like explaining what should be basic core mechanics to people in map chat before it gets too tiresome for too little payoff.

Is Ascended Gear worth Building?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sourde Noire.5286

Just build multiple sets of Ascended gear, using Legendary gear for multiple stats will be extremely limited as you’ll still be burning gold replacing runes over and over.

If it works like weapons swapping legendary armor wont burn the runes?

You indirectly burn the runes if you actually swap the stats and run a different build. A condi build doesn’t need the runes a power build needs, etc.

I still hope Anet will use an upcoming patch to update legendary things to be able to unlock sigils/runes so you can swap those too. Maybe make it 6 sigils/runes per piece for a one time hefty price to unlock swapping on the fly.

I like the warhorn sound, I never quite understood the obsession with people comparing the sound to farts.

Some unique skins have their own unique warhorn sounds, you can try using one of those. The only ones I know of are the Super Warhorn Skin and the Crimson Lion Warhorn Skin. The first makes it sound like a trumpet and the second replaces your warhorn sound with a roaring sound like that of a lion.

I dont want to use a skin to alter the sound. I don’t like those skins you suggested anyway. I want the warhorn to sound as magically imbued as the skills make it seem.
I would like fire crackling, electric surges, rocks crumbling and to hear the sea.

Then you’re straight outta luck. If we start doing that we’d end up overhauling the majority of all effects to fit some kind of desire or theme.

At least the warhorn gives you the chance to change some sounds. Though I can confirm now that using the skins still plays the original sound and just adds the special sound to it.

Not sure that adding a layer of hair would help. How about Sylvari with their leaf hair. Or chars that have chosen the bald option instead of hair or Charrs with their hair going down their necks.

Wait, there’s more races than human? :O

I guess. But even so, one layer or hair/leaves and remove the neckhair on Charr (because they get no love anyway) when wearing the hat. I’d still prefer that to the baldness. Though retroactive changes to skins aren’t something to hope for, anyway, which is fine since some people may like it the way it is.

The easiest way would be to add a layer of hair around the players head inside the hat that has the same colour as the players hair. No need to design around all hair styles, just make it look like some hair is under the hat. As opposed to spontaneous baldness. Really puts me off the hat, too.

Personally I have never met a single person who played all modes, really. People seem to be playing 2 modes at most, one being their main mode and the other being their mode to play when their main mode is boring them or isn’t fully available.

Sure, people dip their toe into PvP during leagues or swarm the WvW maps during the (two) tournaments (we ever had). But I always found ANet’s idea or rather claim that ‘people play all modes equally and that’s how we want it’ (as evident by the lack of split balancing and the daily system) hard to believe. I don’t have the metrics, sure, but I never met anyone in all my time and I find it hard to believe that people split their focus on 3 modes and play them all on a level more than ‘casual, here and there’.

3 tournaments. And Mo never said everyone plays all modes in those clips. Again stretching words.

Did I say that Mo said that? Stretching my words much? I was pointing out something that has been evident in their design philosophy (and can probably be found in statements if you care enough to search for it) in the past, which is related to the topic at hand. Even so, main-WvWers are still disgruntled about that. I wouldn’t want my main mode to be designed and balanced around people who hop between modes instead of committing to one, and I can understand their dissatisfaction.

Feedback on feedback and communication

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sourde Noire.5286

Sourde Noire.5286

They aren’t robots but they are employed to do what they’re doing. They’re not running a charity and personally I’d say that dealing with incoherent yelling and rage posts is part of your job as PR manager (maybe not so much as a dev posting here in your free time, but anyway). Heck, it’s a core internet skill in my opinion. While you can argue that unconstructive feedback is the reason for lack of communication, I’d say it may be a factor, but ANet is pretty bad when it comes to that anyway.
Most rage stems from ‘broken promises’, and while there are surely cases where this was exaggerated (i.e. they say ‘we may want to do X someday’ and then people get mad and demand X because ’it’s already been Y months since they promised that!‘), at this point no objective observer can deny that ANet has been shifting their design goals, game philosophy and approaches numerous times by now, completely scrapping ideas they were unable to deliver or abandoning half-baked concepts.
The solution here isn’t necessarily to improve communication (or avoid it to avoid the complaints directed at those announcements), but to get a fricking grip and decide on what you want to do and what you can do. THIS is the major problem since release, THIS is the reason their announcements are pretty void, because anything can be and was being cancelled and until it’s actually in the game, all you have as a customer is faith, and that faith has been eroded in the past years.

To come back at my original point, yes, praise is always a lot harder to be found than criticism for various reasons, but if you cannot deal with the community, respectively are unable to filter out the complaint-fueled white noise, then you aren’t doing your job properly. Search for the constructive feedback, ignore what is just pointless rants, and communicate properly through all that. It’s your job.

Oh boy....

As a long time MMO player, I’d like to remind you the most important thing in a RPG game is not the story, not the combat, not the social system, it’s the reward.

Last time I checked my own opinion, I was a believer that a role playing game needs a good story and/or characters which help you immerse yourself into the world you are roleplaying in.
Rewards are a primary incentive for replayability, that doesn’t necessarily mean they are tied to the role playing part of RPGs. Though these days the defining RPG element seems to be character progression for some reason.

That being said, the rest I can agree with more or less (and rewards are pretty kittenty in GW2 across the board). We’ll see what the immediate future will bring.

PVE weapon summon uses

Posted by: Sourde Noire.5286

Most summons are fire and forget style weapons, since they lack the sustained high damage potential the basic weapon skills have.

FGS is used in speedrun builds because of the mobility on 3, Lightning Hammer is used for consistent blast finishers on the auto to stack Might if you lack other sources (but is still outperformed by staff fire or Fresh Air damage), Ice Bow is used for the CC on 5 and the burst on 4 and 3, then dropped, Axe and Shield are really niche for their utility.

They aren’t totally bad and I wouldn’t say to never use them, but except for Ice Bow the others usually lack the damage or bring utility you don’t really need in a party / you rather take another utility skill instead.

While I think all the posts threatening legal action and lamenting how ANet deceived us are quite exaggerated to say the least, I have to say I’m baffled by how 6 people can work that long on a few collections and then don’t even get things done in time.

Yes, it requires adding a bit flavour text and place NPCs, but if I look at most of them (i.e. Fractal Backpiece collection), it cannot be that hard to add the lines ’I’m looking for thing.’ ‘I have thing!’ ‘Thanks.’ to the game (to paraphrase the Fractal Researcher dialogues…). To me this proves yet again that the people working on the game seem to have no clue at all what’s going on or how it works. But even so, pulling the required information to find the right places and events that fit the lore cannot take this long. Or to be more specific, it must not.

That being said, I don’t know how the internals look like and how much the team had to help out in other areas. But for the longest time I got the feeling that ANet has tremendous problems with communication, both external and internal. And I really hope this will be resolved in the near future. Not even so much to get information beforehand, but for ANet to stop burning manhours and money on things that get re-broken with subsequent patches or take way longer than they should.

To end on a friendlier note, I do hope that Mike’s decision will commence the restructuring and refocusing of the resources and steer to game into a direction most people can be satisfied with. Seeing how he was technically in charge all those years anyway I’m not holding my breath, but I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt and reserve my judgement for now.

At any rate, thanks for letting us know.

You cannot use them all at once, the elite alone needs 5 upkeep, F2 has another 2 and once you hit 10 upkeep you cannot activate any more. As such, you have a net drain of -5 energy per second, meaning you can keep them running for 10 seconds before you’re out if you start at 50% energy after swapping legends or 20 seconds if you start at 100%, obviously.

Radius should be 600 units, as you can check on the wiki.

Consuming is usually only advised (in PvE) on F2 if you don’t need the boon duration buff (i.e. no Chronomancer in the party) and the Swiftness one for some extra damage. Otherwise just swap legends when you run out of energy, swap back and use them again.

How Do Builds Work?

Learn to play. No, seriously. If your problem is that people dodge out of your AoEs, the point is to either have them burn their dodges on other things or disable them with CC so they have to use a stunbreak or eat the damage. If you play against bunker builds in PvP then of course they will have the sustain, but they will also lack the damage. That’s precisely their role. Either improve your playstyle or pick your targets better.

Berserker’s is the be-all-end-it-all in PvE because once you know the content you don’t need defensive stats when you can completely negate damage by correct dodging or active defense like blinds, etc. You CAN run any build in open world PvE (conditions do great damage these days and offer tankier stat combos with that, too), so that’s on you.

So yes, sorry, but your rant post only screams ‘I don’t understand how the combat works’ and you either learn it properly or you’ll haveto find a different game.

I’ve even tested my build against a friend to see if we are actually using equal builds and how they effect us. His condi’s heal him. Mine don’t.

If it were the same build (read: same stats, runes, sigils and traits), then this cannot happen, so I call bulldung on that one.

I find Guardian to be far worse, both weapons just suck and mostly useless utilities. At least Revenant can use Shiro.

Going for healing power in PvE is usually pretty meh, too, because of the awful scaling.

what awful scaling?
healing power scales as well as power, if not better

If healing power is meh in pve it’s because of overhealing. People simply don’t need 1100 regen per second with 12k every 13 seconds and another 15k every 25 seconds, with an additional 2k here and there.

Because of overhealing, yes, and because there’s always opportunity cost and increasing Healing Power by an amount that makes a noticable difference sucks tons of damage out of your build, and in PvE damage is simply the best tool you have. Even raids where you usually want a dedicated healer for a change, are DPS checks.

It’s far more effective and easier to simply stack +outgoing healing effectiveness, simple as that.

i would prefer anything to wings. theyre atrocious attention grabbers that serve no purpose. at least a cape would keep you warm!

lol people keep saying “oh well it cant be done because of charr”. here i have a simple picture for you. just cut out the yellow part and wallah you have a charr friendly cape. design so hard!

It’s ‘voilà’, not wallah. And the devs themselves actually stated ‘it would be too much work to get it done properly because of Charr, which are only played by a small portion of the playerbase’. And if you look at some of the clipping issues that many armor pieces have on Charr, it’s no surprise.

As to resources. L. Armor was hinted at less than a year after launch. It was actually promised as a raid reward 14 months ago. The first raid wing has been out ~4 months and still no sign of L. Armor. At this rate, yes, there is a decided shortage of resources, insofar as prestige skins go. There is no prestige attached to gem store skins. Anyone can buy them, you can wear them without ever taking a character out of your home city.

Anything in this game that isn’t forcing you to do something completely solo has the same issue. Groups are able to clear raids with less than 10 people and sell the remaining spots. If you’re really rich and/or lazy (or know the right people), you can simply keep buying/leeching raid spots to get tokens and drops and obtain Legendary Armor without ever learning any mechanic or fight properly whatsoever.

If you look at it his way, nothing that allows someone to be carried by a good group has any prestige whatsoever, because you can never know if they did it legitimately or just threw gold at the problem until they got what they wanted.

As staff camping water is pretty meh, usually you just go on water to cast 5, then 3 and overload it for a nice burst heal overall. The extreme loss of damage doesn’t really make up for the Soothing Mist heal.

Going for healing power in PvE is usually pretty meh, too, because of the awful scaling. You’ll help your team more by going for more damage, the base aura heal is pretty decent. As such I’d just stay Berserker’s, use Rune of the Monk and chug food that gives +outgoing healing.
Also, if you play an aura healer, spec Powerful Aura, not Soothing Power, and Stop, Drop and Roll instead of Piercing Shards, since Water doesn’t do any damage anyway. Fresh Air with staff is also really suboptimal, I’d just swap Air with Fire and go the usual Burning Precision, Pyromancer’s Training and Persisting Flames. I’d also swap Aftershock with Signet of Fire when there’s nothing to reflect, the cooldown is just too long.

Auramancer is usually a Dagger/Warhorn – Dagger/Focus thing because of the weapon skills. If you want to go on staff, I’d suggest Unstable Conduit to gain a few more auras from Overloads.

So, yeah, bottomline is Healing Power is bad in PvE, +outgoing healing effectiveness is miles better, you help your team more by doing damage (and the damage loss in that build is rather huge) and throwing in the heals along the way. If you personally need more survivability, Marauder’s armor is awesome on Ele and helps a lot with that.

Just my 2 cents.

//edit: And Wash The Pain Away is along the best heals in the game, way better than Arcane Brilliance. If you really need that blast, use staff earth 2.

Revenant, last played class?

in Revenant

I think it’s a mix of FotM dying down and the nerfs. When HoT came out, Revenant was new, everybody wanted to try it and play it some. It was also pretty strong, at least in PvE (and WvW with the hammer for zerging).

Now they nerfed it quite a bit to a point where I don’t find it that much fun anymore in PvE (I really liked the hammer because it was decent ranged DPS for PvE with CoR and double hits), it was degraded to Boonbot status and I much rather play my Tempest again, because I can do so much for my party/squad and wreak havoc with awesome fire effects.

Add that to the fact that half the class is effectively broken still (and was broken further with the sword changes, 2 and 3 are awful), which was ignored and overshadowed by the novelty of a new class for a while, and I’d say those are the reasons, at least for me.

Bob have 12 friends, Bob has to tell 2 other friends to kitten off or he can’t watch the movie.

Ellen has 3 friends, she has to find 7 other friends or she can’t watch the movie.

His point: it’s no different to hang out with people in an MMO doing things than it is hanging out with people and do something else in real life. You dedicate time and do stuff together that’s (hopefully) fun.

Your point: there’s requirements to the raids and it’s limited to / forces to bring 10 people.

You see how your point is going into a completely different direction? You argue about the accessiblity, he’s aruging about the will to participate in it. And going with your analogy, surely it never ever happens in real life that someone wants to go do something that only has limited spots or wants to go somewhere and has to bring people. No, that only ever happens in MMOs, I’m sure.

Given how much players seem to like what little underwater combat there is (hint: not much), and how sluggish ANet is when it comes to revamps and such, I find it much more likely they’ll either avoid Bubbles as Elder Dragon to fight (I mean, there’s still Kralkatorrik and Jormag which are tied into the story already) or simply summon some kind of story deus ex machina akin to ‘we are now able to force Bubbles out of the water’ or ‘we managed to create a device that allows us to summon air domes underwater’, just so we can continue to do regular combat.

It still doesn’t change that UW combat in its current state is neglected and actively reduced by ANet (removal from PvP, WvW, no new BL skins or Legendaries for underwater). I really like the concept of it all, but as it stands, it may very well be removed from the game.

to be fair i have a job too but a boyfriend that plays gw with me.
anyway the raids don’t require 8 hours a day. our guild dedicate 2 hours 3 days a week to the raids. the raid don’t reset daily, so you have a full week to complete it.
really it’s not a matter of time. although it is a fair matter of skill, so i would suggest not to pug it.
there are a lots of video about those fights that you can watch in your spare time to see what your role can be.
and finally, as you described how you play, you really don’t need a legendary armor, actually, no one needs one to be fair. even though you should be able to switch stat with it, the way you play i don’t think you change build that often and you can always try new builds in exotic

I don’t think it’s so much about time required, it’s more about commitment.

if a raid is scheduled at certain time, you better be there, else you won’t have a slot next time.

yes, it’s like when you decide to hang out with friends, you decide to commit a night out with them and to do so you don’t pick other dates with other people…
but you hang out in a mmo instead. but i don’t see why it is ok to go to the cinema and not ok to decide to spend 2 hours in a raid

Yes its like hanging out with friends. Except there is a 10 man limit. You cannot bring more than 10 people and any less would make the movie reset over and over again. Then when you bring 10 people, you have to make sure their movie equipment is best in slot and they have to have a different role otherwise the movie will reset to the beginning.

Missing the point – the post. You’re still hanging out with friends (ideally, if you don’t pug).

Just wanted to pass along an update from Colin, which, yet again, can be found only on Reddit:

Just wanted to quickly pass along we asked the skills team to hold off on making any more FX changes until a system was in place to allow people to toggle them on/off as a selection. They’ve been continuing to work on the project of making combat less visually noisy, while also ensuring there will be options for players to pick from.
More info on this with the spring update but I did want to say you’ll see the old FX restored soon along with some visibility options for those who want to use them

And, as I mentioned there as well, it’s nice that they listened, but the speed at which they responded was unsatisfactory to say the least. On the other hand, we have a relatively well-defined ETA, which was probably what he wanted to give us before saying anything at all.

So, confirmed! The old fireball, mesmer wells etc are coming back this Spring!

See https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Visual-nerfs-Merged/page/19

So here’s to hoping they’ll actually do it.

You said it yourself, they will proc on Legend swap. So if you stay on staff and swap the Legend, it’ll proc your on-swap sigils, meaning in the next 9 seconds swapping your actual weapon set won’t be able to proc it again.
