Haha that wouldn’t be bad.
Honestly, and I dunno what they have planned, but for getting the lower level area’s regular activity again, such as the dynamic events being done, they should really enroll some mini-games in those starting areas.
More of this type would be nice!

Glektor, I don’t want to turn this into something related to how the healer/support classes are in terms of events participation (topic for another thread/and has been done before lol), but definitely agree as this event does showcase that aspect.

Car, I wondered if Toxx did or not. I don’t recall killing much of the toys period, but did always attack Toxx with the rest taking a break from building up

Archduke, I think it is clear that no matter what Arenanet brings through the pipeline there will be a huddle of players upset and complaining. Happens with all MMO’s. That said, Snowball Mayhem was okay but felt under-balanced between professions/skills (not to mention some items that you could find were useless as it wore out before you reach the enemy lol), definitely preferred Toy Apocalypse though.

Ah Toast, too true. But, points didn’t matter. At all. Without the ‘engineers’ they wouldn’t have survived after all!
Haha yeah true Angel. First time around though we didn’t have any hay dropping that could be found. Poor Dolyak’s didn’t last to the end, although one did survive till the 10th round.

Still fun regardless. I’ve gone back in a few times just to find other ways to block off the attacks. lol.

As somebody PM’d me about this. Yes I realize my score is low compared to the team as a whole. I am disappointed in it myself even. But you really don’t earn points doing the defensive portion. Our setup basically saw the Commanders dealing with Toxx at points while the rest of us were strengthening the walls/snowmen, and upgrading the Siege, as well as healing the Dolyaks.

This actually worked out quite well as in the end all five had survived and hardly had any health missing whatsoever.

All in all, a blast was had!
Happy Wintersday!

Wintersday was a blast, but aside from the awesome Jumping Puzzle, Toy Apocalypse is what I will miss the most. Nothing like building Snowmen and Siege equipment, while building up defensive walls to protect the Dolyaks. Reminds you of the old school recess days building snow fort’s and waging war

The Achievement may have been dropped down to just needing one left surviving, but myself and many others will always be proud to have led and protected all five. Even Miss Duchess whom always seemed to take the most beating. With only a sliver of health missing on any Dolyak at the end.

Kudos to those that took part and listed in the screenshot!

Diving Goggles Bug?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Spikedadragon.6015

Spikedadragon.6015

So maybe this isn’t a bug, but in a way it is… I think.

When you equip the goggles and take your leap of faith/dive, you have the option to do the dives on the way down. HOWEVER other than the animation, you do not know if it actually ‘clicked’. Now that we have an achievement based on hitting on all these dives, and having no way to tell if the dive counted, it is pretty disheartening when you have done them all and see that you haven’t actually had them all counted. How do you know which one wasn’t counted? heh.

Just wondering if there can be any type of toast popup notification or something that you completed the dive? Anything simple would work to show it clicked. Either that or the Achievements list to tell you which ones you’ve managed to hit and still have yet to do. Maybe even separate it to it’s own list like the Jumping Puzzle’s has.

Thanks for your time!

Spikedadragon.6015

It isn’t the Dungeon. It is the crafters/trading post kings/banker’s. Look at where the players are all huddled around on the Overflow or regular map. I’m on BP as well, and this is how it is. If it was the Dungeon they’d be overflowing the area of the entrance. They aren’t.

Anywho it is a necessary evil, that is more than welcome.

Support suggested this topic on CT JP

Spikedadragon.6015

So recently heard back from support regarding a question I had. Back in the day when the Halloween event was mentioned and what we had to look forward to, we were told that the new Dungeon and JP would be permanent fixtures. Obviously this isn’t the case… and maybe those articles mentioning it were mis-wrote or mis-understood on the various sites and gw’s own forums.

Question here is, did something at launch change this factor? or is it due to the way the wave based instance for the JP was set up which makes it impossible to be non-instance like any of the other’s in LA or elsewhere in the world?

I know people hated it as it was aggravating to them. But there are a ton of us that enjoyed it and even miss it. I know I for one miss the awesome music accompanying it hehe.

Is there not someway that Lion’s Arch can have a single doorway to the Mad King’s realm to re-enter that JP and the Dungeon too? Or are those gone for good, until next year sadly?

Just looking for some dev-love here for possibly the best JP in the game which deserves more love!

Thanks!

Spikedadragon.6015

Gaile Gray,

I’ll add this to my ticket as well, but wouldn’t it make sense to know who got a chest (a good 98% at least) by simply running a query and outputting which players have the 20 Slot Chest? They wouldn’t have it if they didn’t attend the event. If they got d/c’d. Or attended the event but didn’t care to take the time to finish it and thus missed the chest (their loss, and shouldn’t be rewarded, but that’s a different topic).

Querying for a single item that was in the chest for ALL who looted it after the boss, would give you a good 98% accurate statistics. If you could then expand on that to see who sold it to a merchant or deleted it, that would provide the remainder.

Then done. You know who looted. Then either send out a chest with exception to those, to each account, not character.

Seems simple on that front.

Personally I did Day 1, fully, Day 2, fully despite being broken at points, and Day 3, fully. I was disconnected two or three times during the big hours long fighting on Lost Shores, but managed to reconnect each time. And complete the big and completely well done boss fight to get to the chest at the end. Yeah the rewards were pretty poor, especially compared to what everyone is getting in their chests mailed to them, but we did the work and then partied on the corpse!~

Thanks

Spikedadragon.6015

Meh he’s welcome to his opinion but not going to justify it with a reply. Obviously somebody has their mind one-sided.

But anyhow, seeing how Necro’s are not that tough. Their down-state is pretty abysmal (by this I mean they are masters of the dead, why must they suffer? lol) Okay maybe not so much but seriously it seems like, even with the trait on, their downed state is the less ‘impacting’ then any others. Fear is the best here, but you won’t be able to res yourself with a horde around you and only sending one off fleeing. You need to kill someone first and that isn’t at all as powerful as any of the other professions. Or am I wrong?

To counter-weight this properly, it would be nice if fear was removed from the downed state to something that allowed the Necro’s to fade into the mist’s like F1 does, and be invisible for a short time to get away from the enemies.

Oh believe me I don’t want the corpse’s used for minion summoning. Necro’s would stand no chance against the other professions if that was needed! But traversing corpse’s would still be much welcome.

Also… any idea why or how this makes sense? Elementalist (or Mesmer?) upon Downed state can get out of harms way even while downed, yet a Necro, master of the undead, can’t do squat… not to mention F1 still leaves them just as vulnerable rather than harder to hit. Heh.

Posted by: Spikedadragon.6015

Spikedadragon.6015

And by this I mean from Guild Wars. Where you could do so much with dead corpse’s of enemies and allies.

Consume Corpse. Normally this isn’t one that would fit, BUT given how overpowered other professions are, or specifically due to Portals, this should be allowed for Necro’s.

Necrotic Traversal. Same thing here. These two skills would be so welcome for the Necro’s that don’t want to just be Minion Master’s or that other common type.

Dunno. Just miss these two abilities from GW1. Was a mess in Guild vs Guild battles obviously but in WvWvW it is already a mess with Portals in use, so don’t see why this isn’t allowed in game.

I did think the scavenger hunt ended a little bit abruptly with only a jug of karma for reward, at the end of phase 2 they said they would call you back, I thought there would be a final part maybe confronting the consortium, finding their leaders, finding out exactly what those plants did to cause the KAks to follow them home.

I figure the monthly planned events, holiday or not, will have a set story going forward like that. Kraka’s being just the first blow. I expect we’ll hear more from the Consortium in December

Found out today while trying to run it that the map is level 80 now, so was a ball to get over to the starting point.
Thankfully it’s still possible as the ridge scales will chase you but if you don’t stop you can out run them. Now not lucky if you happen upon a shark while swimming, or sea scorpion, even kraka. Oh boy! My main character is level 60 btw, so hence why this matters to me.
And yes I believe the exploit is still there but never tried it so not sure. I know somebody was there just yesterday with a Mesmer porting people up that would pay them, as mention in this thread earlier too.

JP’s in MMO/MMORPG/RPG games have never been fun honestly. Hate to go off topic with another game but it will be brief. SW:ToR. Jumping in that game is a pain and doesn’t feel very fluid which makes their JP’s pretty tough in the long run. GW2, jumping feels fluid. Dodging is a mechanic that fits well. The JP’s while some may be difficult, are not stressful and end up being a blast in the long run

Thank you Arenanet for a great gaming weekend topped by a great time at the last event last night (for me in the UK). It was so much fun to play with so many other players all rushing around trying to help each other and complete the event. Even if you died that was always someone to ressurect you almost instantly. Certainly there was a lot of friendly appreciative chat after the ancient Karka was defeated.

I hope that Arenanet realise that 95% of the people had a great time it is just the 5% moaners that dominate the forums.

Thanks very much

Ramélie

Well said, minus the last line which will attract the complaints.

Event was a blast. And yes the participation and overall friendliness of people in-game during it all made it better. If you died, somebody, or a group of people, would ditch attacking the Veteran and go to rez. This happened throughout the entire course.

I hope Anet’s team reads the in-game chat on the servers for the /say channel especially on the conclusions. Lots of appreciative praise and overall positive attitude (even from those dc’s multiple times, but got back in). Which can’t be drown out like it is being on the forums with so much negatively.

I did get dc’d during the 2/3 of the battle where the fissures part was and had to relogin and zone into another overflow where they weren’t even close to getting that far yet, so more of the same repeated. But still fun.Never said it sucked or was going to rage quit. We knew it would be difficult and get ran over (or rolled over in this case hehe). Can’t complain.

There is more than enough World events in the 75+ zones

Aye this may be true, but they should still ecompas outside that area. That is what Lost Shores did well. Plus the ones in the 75+ are always running, which makes em’ available whenever.

These are more fun because they are one-time or a specific time-frame. Known about ahead of time, so you can plan for it (if possible. RL of course trumps all).

But also because you have everybody coming together to do one massive event with a feel of satisfaction at the end.

Tho, I would have liked an ‘end’. Just hearing the Lionsguard chatting about other possible threats is fun to hear, but talk to them tomorrow and they won’t know what Ancient anything. Of course they were no-name npc’s just standing there right at the cave entrance.

Guild Wars 2 needs more of these World-wide Dynamic Events.

Obviously the lag and dc’s would need fixed by shrinking down the population on the servers. But other than that, the difficulty, the length, it all should stick. A World-wide Dynamic Event should not be shortened to the length of a normal dungeon boss fight or DE after all.

So yep. Bring em on!

That does suck man. And honestly if Anet were to be looking at who should still get the rewards or access to the chest, these are the situations that should be at the top. You, at least started from the start and worked all the way near the end. Death was your reward, at a point where nobody could get to you in time. There are many like this. With that in mind, those should still get some sort of reward, even mailed.
Unlike the ones complaining, that were likely the same that just sat back and watched everybody else do the fighting in the Reinforcements phase I or II, then found later that all the chasing up and then down, was to get to the chest, which they rightfully so, are too distanced from to get to safely and in time.

Same then when got it back to mid level. Then finally all the way down. Although we were worried when it started rolling and not moving downwards that it glitched… that would have sucked! I did the range thing for awhile then the close up fighting. But yeah… Learned quick that reinforcements meant dead minions, hehe. But the fact they kept coming kept people on their toes. Those that actually went afk for dinner or to watch streams and whatnot, were left behind when the next phase rolled, and probably few of those missed out on the chest at the end, which honestly is fair. Given, the whole point was to be active and have a part in taking him down. Not sitting around doing nothing or auto-targetting.

You’re right, this current DE has killed everyone trying to attempt it. The kicker is when we go to waypoint, we either crash and have to restart, unable to join our parties in the now full overflows OR we sit at a never ending loading screen. How do you design events that your engine can’t support?

And if you do get into an overflow, surprise! No bridge, no waypoints, no Phase 3.

If you hit a Overflow, the DE is still live. You just gotta get over to it in the top north west of the map.
