I know that feeling OP. I was actually running TA last night, the first run was a non-skip and the second was a skip. The first group was fun and although there wasn’t much reward we worked like a team and got stuff dead. The second we picked up two skippers, at the time we weren’t so fussed, but they gave no warning atall they were going to move off, I got continuous knockdown by 5 hounds and died, while one of them tried to solo the first event and would not look at his chat for anything. I spent 5 mins on the floor, had to wait for everyone to WP to the start and make it through together. After this they still wouldn’t say when they were about to make off, resulting in another down or three (not just me). Overall the second run was BOOOOOORRRRRRRRIIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGG! One hour overall one each run and the funest part of the second one was going to bed after. I think if ANet would just give a bit better rewards for the mobs and not so much for finishing (I made an obscene amount of money on those two runs compared to the rest ov PvE) more people would run them properly. I have done CoF speeds once or twice but I don’t need them and the mobs don’t cc you (and its wider), but I won’t be doing a TA speed run again if I can help it.

But Ive got to say the Sylvari first intrigued me when they said “There not elves, theyre not dryads, theyre Sylvari” And they are totally right. Theyre logically, sensitive, caring, down to earth (pardon the pun) walking plants who really just want the best for Tyria. They are not blinded by blind faith, prejudice or delusions of grandeur. You meet a Sylvari and they don’t care who you are, what race you are, what gender you are or what you believe in. All that matters to them is what you do, Its a mentality that I can relate to and personally find rather hard to come by, especially in fantasy settings.

We bring alot of rez abils and group heals (compared to most other classes). Spirit of nature, search and rescue, healing spring. Not to mention the other spirit buffs. And you can have your pet tank while you rez. Your pet is basically another party member for free! And don’t let anyone ever tell you that rangers are useless, I did the TA story the other day and took down the second bosses last 30% solo while my party, a guardian, necro, mesmer and ele laid down and had a break for 5 mins.

I never thought of it before but WANT! Would make a decent mid-range weapon, pos with a bit of AoE or a cone of attack, because we all know the ranger needs something to target more than one enemy in a group. I think thematically it would work very well with the ranger aswell, especially thorn and vine whips. But personally I want it to be a two handed weapon, or allow me to dual wield

You can use them to make mysctic and legendary weapons by buying components from that woman by the mystic forge. Also can use to buy seigemasters manuals to upgrade your seige blueprints.

I can see where your coming from, however I don’t quite agree. I personally don’t like the one time events because I don’t generally get to play them. However Might I suggest a random mailed reward depending on your level of completion of the story content? Maybe like a skin or another drawing. This would give an incentive to play over the whole month, not one sunday evening.

I reaaaallyyy don’t see the problem. As far as I’m concerned it’s like this:

Player: “Hey look! This game is awesome! But there’s nothing to do when you hit 80 because all I care about is power levelling and being better than everyone else.”

ANet: “Well there’s lots more to do and see, that’s why we put all these lovely looking vistas and awesome events in.”

Player: “Do they give me better gear?”

ANet: “Well you can get legendary weapons that look fricking awesome, but they’ll take a while”

Player: “But doing the work is boring!”

ANet : “Well how about we give you a new currency that’ll help you if you go and explore and just play a bit?”

Player: “But I want more money!”

ANet: “Why?”

Player: “So I can just buy all the stuff I need!”

ANet: “But… why don’t you just play the game and earn them over time as you have fun playing?”

Player: “But it’s no fun now, I just want money so I can complain about how boring it is when I buy all my legendary ingredients or it directly!”

ANet: “Right we’ve had just about enough of you guys, we’ve tried to be helpful but if we do anything else we might aswell send you all one, now take your rare and be thankful!”

Can’t say for sure this is how ANet feels but It’s exactly how I feel just listening to you guys. Now grow up. And don’t say this doesn’t affect me or I’d be calling kitten too, I’m working towards two legendarys simultaneously in maybe 2 hour play sessions, It would be soooooo much easier to buy the stuff but that’s not how you play the game, if any of you are still actually “playing” atall. And I for one must say, ANet thank you for the laurels and all the gameplay changes you are making to help the casual crowd who can’t spend all day online, you have no idea how much of a help they are.

TLDR: Quit calling kitten and go and enjoy the game.

Personally I quite like the look of the hoodie. If only I could have it automatically load while I’m in town instead of switching in and out all the time. Or if I could even transmutate it to an armour set I might actually get it. And if any of you guys think that Asian MMO’s medium armour mentioned above is bad look up GW2’s top tier medium craftable armour, I look like a samurai. In itself that is pretty awesome, however I am a ranger, not a warrior or a guardian, a ranger. Do you have any idea how ridiculous I look running around the battlefield in brown samurai armour using a mystic forge bow with a fern hound out? This should give you an idea: (I have dawn on my back because the bow just looked silly)

I agree with OP, when I’m in Southsun Cove I never seem to run out of stacks (on me). And worse than that I could swear that every time I get hit the whole lot refreshes and stacks intensity, meaning I can’t do anything at all for sometimes 10 seconds or more. Atleast burning and Poison stack duration and don’t penalise you for fighting back. And bleeding stacks intensity but its gone pretty soon unless you’r against a bleed build, in which case the non-bleed DPS is pretty bad. Confusion is a slap in the face while chanting “You’r confused, can’t fight back!” repeated in your ear to the voice and tune of “Not touching can’t get mad!” And for anyone who says “It’s not that powerful” I run a pet-tank shortbow ranger, that means I have medium health, a Heal over time and my main attack fires at a rate of 4 shots a second, at 80 that’s around 1000 damage a second per stack. And if I go down if my pet is hit it automatically stops him from reviving me with the 3rd FFYL abil, the only one worth useing, and my bandage wounds abil cuts out because it’s still in effect and I take damage.

I had the same problem, nothing in mail and i have 2 free slots. I’ve also submitted a bug report.

I like to wander around the level 1 areas, especially Holebreks and the Grove. Sometimes spend some time in Southsun Cove, walk around a city or 2. Take a nap/absorb sunlight (whatever it is Sylvari do to relax)/pet my dog.

The game may not require you to party all the time but it’s great at getting you to naturally interact and cooperate with other players during events and such.

This is how more MMOs should be. Less “single-player + parties” more “everyone is always in your party”

This. I honestly don’t know what your complaining about. Granted a lot is solo-able but the stuff that isn’t like dungeons, group, temple, dragon and meta events aren’t. My guild is never online and my server has a low population but when it comes down to it everyone is there when they are needed, as it should be. I shouldn’t and refuse to play a game where I need to party to take out an adult wurm, which is exactly what you seem to be suggesting as I can’t see why else you would create this topic unless you wanted more group stuff, of which general mobs and exploration are the only things you can solo really.

If it’s getting implemented, the things you could perhaps get, or the size of your house should be linked with your achievements and the amount of achievement points I think. And achievement points should in general have a place in player housing. Why else get the achievement points? So far i see no merit in getting achievement points.

Great idea retsuko, never thought of using achievement points as a currency. I know we’re getting laurels but all my achievement points are kinda just sitting there, To be honest I’m not even sure what they mean or why I should want them.

The horses are in the focal plan of illustrated graphics. I know many players asked for mounts. We shall see if they will bring any and make what players wished so much. If no, well save your time by refraining of typing “we want houses” (also it will reduce erase of letters on keys). Majority of new MMOs have houses. Capital cities in GW2 can be great place to have them as instances.

They have already said they won’t be bringing mounts in this update. Also, please stay on topic, I really don’t care for or want mounts.

Good idea Sirendor, however I think this would be a long term project that could expand on the houses. This would also work with guild keeps, perhaps guilds have to war to upgrade from a shamble of houses till they have a castle, matching guilds who have similar areas and fortifications, alternatively they could let you put in the guild main “focus”, pve, pvp ect… and let you gain upgrades that way, but keep all the types of guild separate this way. For example GvG guilds gain keeps, forts, defences, guards but have small rooms and not much customisation outside of war. While PvE guilds have towns with houses, maybe mansions for a select number of officers with tons of customisation but no defences because that’s not why that guild is there. However this would be a very long way off, probably not until the first real expansion at-least if they started on it now, but still we can dream…

I don’t think so because the “Top” players of a server are ridiculously hard to measure, think of all the great PvE players who have no interest in WvW and sPvP.

And for those who don’t have the time? And you can’t measure effort over a broadband connection. A medicore player on a small laptop may put in a lot of effort to be medicore while experienced players with good rigs need put in little to be better.

just because you have a good rig does not make you good.

its about your skill

I am not saying a good rig makes you good, however when you have a medicore, dual core laptop with integrated graphics then a decent rig does make a difference, especially in rendering enemies, AoEs and on the same note WvW becomes a lot easier as everything loads better. Not to mention internet connection can make a great difference to dodging times and casting.

It will probably be be by racial city initially, until they put in a move city feature. But I wouldn’t mind moving to the guild hall or a wilds area (maybe you have a little personal story event where you have to clear the area). They’ve always said they’d implement it, just no news on it for a while, suppose balancing and expansion has taken more priority

I am Whiteside Ridge and PROUD! My guild may be inactive and I’ve only just started really playing WvW but I’m having great fun, we may be constantly out-manned but we will adapt our tactics and our builds . I’m mainly on late at night but that doesn’t mean that I can’t cause our enemies no end of headaches. I do wish there were sever forums for WvW so we could chat in them about tactics and whatnot, I have one or two ideas that seem to work well in preliminary tests.

You could also do it like PSO2, a housing system that’s a room, rather than an actual house. You could always add an upgrade system that makes you move into a physical house, with purchasable farming upgrades, etc.

Maybe have a character influence system alongside the guild influence system for this reason. (Like “Legend Points” or “Servitude” or something.)

I don’t know what you mean by the PSO2 system but yes, yes a thousand times over to the character influence, It would be great if you could say stuff like “My house has this, that and some more of this.” because you’ve got a high PvP rank, do a lot of WvW, mastered certain crafting professions, do a lot of PvE (we have to balance it for everyone). I also think that Being able to move into the guild fortress would be nice, more sociable, even if there are a limited number of spaces. Maybe a personal quest or several to earn your first house then you have to pay to move from your home city, but only to areas you have completed, just so you couldn’t say “Ive spent lots of money and moved to Orr.” More of a “I spent a lot of time in the shiverpeaks and kinda liked it, so I finished the area and moved there.”. I know a lot of people would complain about the new currency but aslong as you earn it passively then no-ones at a real disadvantage and everyone can start at the same basic point for their house.

Try actually playing the class and the various weapon types they have access to and you’ll find that this is very far from the truth.

I did for a while, wasn’t for me, just with the weapon abils I did get though I was never alone, and I stopped about level 5. And It can’t be that far from the truth as whenever I run into them in WvW they always have at-least 2 clones out.

I agree with smezmer, the only problem I can find with your suggestion is the problem of then using them to defend as resource can run low really quickly, maybe just the long range ones can need ammo, and maybe only for the last 25%ish of their range. Maybe like an upgrade, only lasts x uses but increases the range to max, then it breaks and has to be re-upgraded.

Any idea when personal housing will be mentioned again? Also, can you have a look at the rangers pets? some customisation would be nice but right now they’re only useful for tanking, and most aren’t very good at that, maybe a shared life ability? cos I don’t know about anyone else but as soon as anything larger than a hatchling looks at me rather than my pet I’m dead, not to mention my personal DPS is outclassed by my pet by almost 200% (I know I’ve gone for a pet tank build but its the only viable one I could think of). Last thing (hate to be a pest) Could we maybe have a bit of an increased drop rate for loadstones? Half an hour in rare level 80 magic find gear (I’m too poor for exotics) hunting down level 80 earth eles and not a single onyx loadstone to show for it.

I’ve just completed the searing cauldron ark of my personal story and wow, just wow. Whomever designed the Experimental Battle Armour deserves a medal. On a similar note, I want one. I just stood there and said “Eat my face laser!”, loved every second of it. If you could get a hold of one of those in WvW, taking stonemist would be a piece of cake. Seriously, bravo whomever designed it!

Love the idea OP. I currently run a pet tank build but it would be so worth re-working my build if I could gain my pets survivability and DPS, then I wont need to load up on Damage, precision and toughness exotics to think about using my greatsword for more than ten seconds. Put this in the suggestion forum please, never know, we might get lucky

Lets get this straight, no-one “deserves” a precursor, a legendary is a long term goal and is a large part luck. Also, anyone who managed to get 1000g together and not get a precursor could have:
A. bought 1
B. wondered how they amassed so much money.

It’s not about the monetary value anyway, are you saying that you would have sold this “400g” precursor? Your numbers are still well off btw.

They were worth 400g a few weeks ago when they were looted from karka chest. Also, people didn’t only get precursors, they got other named exotics like Volcanos that are worth 400g or more.

No, they were 400g BEFORE the event, afterwards I saw some for as little as 50g, it’s the buyer that decides how much its worth. Hey, if you wanna spend 400g on an exotic that isn’t even a precursor be my guest, but I have no idea why your complaining about not getting a precursor then.

But why? You could easily mine it aswel and the people who buy your orichalcum could just mine the nodes already present anyway. I think what your seeing is competition, because as you said, it’s how a lot of players make gold.

Well every manual you use will re-train all your skill points so you can experiment… alot.

Personally Ive gone for a pet tank build. I’ve got a shortbow for my main and a great-sword for backup. Ive got a fern hound for my main, the cripple ability helps keep the enemies away and the special ability helps keep their health up with a polar bear for backup. Ive set all my stats and ability s to increase my pets stats so he has 2 passive healing abils, speed boosts, toughness boosts. My pet does over half of my damage as a result but if you can keep the enemies focused on them then you can take on any solo enemie basically, I solo’d a champ and a vet at the same time yesterday… Just don’t use it for PvP or WvW.

I really can’t wait for housing, sounds like a lot of fun, and I really wan tot make and customise my own place and invite guildies over to show off that I have no life. (Not sarcastic FYI, I’m just easily amused)

During one part of my personal story I helped with a certain artifact that was used later in the game. Met the same people when it became time to use it and they acted like I didn’t know what happened! Me, Traehern and another sylvari rescued the 4th character, then when I met them later they told me (bearing in mind there were only the 4 of us) “I was trapped in Orr and (other sylvari) and Traehern rescued me”… Seriously? I was there! I lead the group and killed about a bajillion risen spider hatchlings! I’m just wondering if this was an oversight or just lazyness.

Very unfortunately I have to go to work when the one-time event is on, meaning that unless ANet means that it will start at 7pm GMT and run for over 4 hours or starts back up every few hours I won’t be able to do it.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind 1-off mega events if they’re going to take place all over Tyria and last long enough for everyone to have a chance to give it a go, but I just feel rather left out otherwise.

On the same sort of note, if there is an item at the end of the event (i.e. back item from the first event) how are people who can’t attend going to get one? If there is one thing I hate it’s knowing there’s a 1-off limited edition item coming out that I can’t get! (I’m a collector)

I’m only level 48 but my pet does around 200 per hit, once every second while my short-bow is about 30 every half a second. I do have 20 points in beastmastery but without my pet I might as-well be licking my opponent to death, and I think my pet may share (at least some) of my high crit rate, and with options like pet gaining might when I crit/attack increasing when it kills there’s really very little point to being there personally. I should mention this is in effective level 18 areas.

First of all how about using Asura portals to connect to the guild halls? Represent guild – walk through – Your in that guilds hall!

Secondly, how about customizable halls? People can donate dyes and resources to customise it, use cloth ect to make drapes, colour them with dyes, trim windows with gold and silver, bronze statues, pay money to relocate to another “home city” (mainly an environmental change), hire weapon-smiths and people to man crafting stations, visible banks and cellars, trade wall for in guild trades. Maybe even rooms for officers and the guild master!

Thirdly, as the title suggests, Guild hall wars, large sPvP maps where the entrances are replaced with the corresponding guild halls and the winning team is the one that destroys the opposing hall (or the most damage in a set amount of time) were both guilds put up a wager of influence points, winner take all and loser has to repair and start again. Upgrades as-well like in WvWvW, like guards, cannons ect.
