Question:

1. How do you maintain participation by afking in game? Please teach $$$$$$

2. How do maps stay outnumbered if a lot of people move to the map because someone told everyone that a map is outnumbered?

You build six tiers of participation, teleport to spawn, stand there. The degeneration of participation takes so long to kick in that you can essentially stay in the spawn/ do nothing as long as you remember to occasionally press one button to move an inch before getting kicked from the map.

You do this, and check your participation bar every time you move, as soon as your bar goes red and a little timer appears, you go and kill one thing that rewards wxp… a piece of siege, a sentry, a veteran pve mob. You can even leave it until participation has degenerated to half way down to tier 4, since pips are coming in anyway after tier 3 so what you have is about 15 mins doing nothing for your team, while receiving rewards. Then 1 minute or so finding something to maintain participation.

Then your bar goes back to gold and the timer is removed. You aren’t technically AFK but you aren’t doing anything to help your server, spending 15 mins doing other stuff with gw2 open in the background while pips tick away. 15 ish minutes inactive, 1 minute active ish – Deserving of rewards? I don’t think so. But you can see it happening in any BL you log in.

There is NO problem!

The fact that “everyone” as you put it, is complaining suggests that there is a problem.

Regardless this isn’t just about the pips, it’s about getting killed in outnumbered fights without receiving benefit from the outnumbered buff.

So my suggestion for this problem (coz the map hopping to get outnumbered buff is a problem) would be to rework the outnumbered mechanic itself.

I’d suggest making Outnumbered proximity based instead of map wide. Yes there might be a huge blob on my team in another part of the map, but i’m getting kicked in 5v1 at the other end of the map… so I don’t benefit from the buff? no matter how badly I am outnumbered?

If you had to actually have more enemy numbers around you to recieve the buff, then players would be motivated to go out and actively find groups of enemies to try to boost their pip score, instead of sitting in the base afk with 6 tiers of participation maintained by doing one thing every 10 minutes.

Obviously I’m not sure what exact ratios of players nearby could be used for this, but the concept I believe is sound.

Sylvari gravity issues

So this is something that I’ve only just noticed. I think it’s only a sylvari thing but I’m slightly unsure.

When I’m running about on my sylvari, the upright-ness of the character is all over the place. So if I run along a slope, my character will completely defy gravity like running along a wall in the matrix. Then if I stand still, after a short pause the character will right itself so I’m standing straight up like a normal person.

I know it’s a very small issue, but something ain’t right.

First I’d like to say thanks a lot for adding the reward tracks to WvW, especially the triumphant armor set one. That being said, I do have some thoughts.

1. Having the reward track attached to the ppt clock feels a bit like being soft-locked in. By this I mean I can’t play WvW for five minutes, and then go off and do something else without getting frustrated that time I’ve spent accruing participation will be thrown down the drain unless I wait the full 15 minutes for the end of the tick. – Maybe having the reward tracks attached to wxp gain would be an improvement. Sort of like in pvp as you gain rank points at the same time as reward track points.

2. This is linked to first issue in some ways, and if that issue were to change then this would be irrelevant, but if I’m trying to get my participation up to the full 550 and the clock is running down for the next tick, sometimes its physically impossible to get to the next objective and build my participation. As roaming is what I do most in WvW, a lot of the time I have small skirmishes which contribute nothing towards my participation. – Maybe player kills could be attached to participation in some way.

3. taking pvp reward tracks as an example again, having potions that add to your reward track as a reward for dailies would be much appreciated. Or they could be added to the loot tables for ranking up, or drops from enemies.

4. related issue to number 3, at the moment the only way to get reward track points is via the ppt clock. It sort of takes the triumph out of the triumphant armor set that you have to wait however many hours to receive one piece of armor at the end. I mean you wait to be given the loot, you might not have fought a single player in the time it took you to build your participation. – Maybe scoring kills on enemy players could be another source of reward points (not participation, actual solid points) either, again, attached to wxp gain for the kill, or just a standard amount like 50 per kill.

That’s pretty much it for now. What think ye?

[Suggestion] 5 Patchwork knapsacks

Okay so this is just a pet peeve of mine. Every time I rank up, I get 5 of these patchwork knapsacks. Rewards yay. But looking at these things… There’s really nothing in them for pvp people. The only unique skin according to the wiki is a trident which makes not a lot of sense, since you can’t even use underwater weapons in pvp.

So the suggestion I guess is change these reward bags to something with an actual chance of a valuable drop every now and then, or add some chance of valuables to the knapsacks. At the moment it feels a little worthless.

So there’s a lot of weapon skins in the game, all of which must have taken much time and effort to make; so its a shame that quite a lot of them never see the light of day (except maybe when you have no transmutation charges left).
I know this has been suggested before, but what I’m suggesting is the ability to dye weapons.

Now I know this would be a heap-ton of work to do, but it might be more approachable if its done in small chunks. For example, one set of weapons could be done at a time, instead of ALL the weapons in the world at once.

PS. If (please dwayna) this happens, I would like to nominate the verdant weapon set for first in line… They are beautiful models, but the fluorescent blue/green combo is so unsettling that I can’t bring myself to use them.

Hi there,

I’m just wondering, as a windows 7 user I’ve had very few problems with running gw2 but as with every other user I’ve been offered a free upgrade to windows 10. When I go to install this upgrade, it pops up an alert saying that an applications is not compatible with windows 10, this single application is gw2.

The installer then directs you to ask developers for support on the issue, so here I am requesting support. Is there any information you can give me about this?

I’m not sure if this has already been noted, but there is a skill bug with skill 5 (Vault) on daredevil staff.

The range of the skill is pretty badly innacurate at the moment. If I use the skill at the maximum range possible, my character leaps to that range, but before he comes back to earth is snapped back about a third of the distance, like bouncing off an invisible wall. So effectively my ground target completely misses whatever I’m trying to land on.

I hope it’s not intentional because I use those green circles for aiming.

Map vote is great... in theory.

So the map vote system is exciting and new and shiny. However, several times in slightly more than several games, the map with the highest number of votes ends up not being the one in which the game is played… I call bugs!

Also on the topic of map selection, I would like to make a request for the reintroduction of Raid on the Capricorn, it was one of the most enjoyable maps in my experience. Since people now have the option to choose Courtyard, may we not also have the choice of a little underwaterness?

So i know theres been lots of discussion about build templates and such things. Since that system is probably way off down the line from being put in the game I’d just like to make a suggestion that might be somewhat easier as a placeholder til the template system is available.

I personally use screenshots when I’m trying to save a build. At present this means taking at least two screenshots per build because traits and equipment are on different tabs. So basically my suggestion is put them both on the same tab OR have an addition tab for build overview which includes all the info you want to screenshot. So basically 1 screenshot per build to make life easier for everyone.

So like many players I often use voice communication software while I’m playing the game. To make it easier to hear my team mates, I lower the volume setting of the game’s sound effects, I don’t turn it completely off because sometimes audio cues are useful.

The problem is that one particular sound effect seems to slip through the low volume setting and plays at full volume at seemingly random intervals. The sound effect in question is a very loud echoing bang, which both deafens and scares the living daylights out of me every single time.

I don’t know what causes this particular sound but a fix would be just peachy.

So since the feature build I’ve been getting huge amounts of gold selling bots whispering me telling me to go buy their nonsense while I’m standing in hotm.

At first I would report each one as soon as it happened, but i’ve just got 10 or so spam whispers in the past half hour.

My question is this, will reporting all of these pests as they spam me result in my account getting banned for report function abuse? Since in the first guildwars, sending a report against a player would also put a mark against your name.

Any chance we could get a world events schedule visible in-game? I mean we’re all standing around in these maps waiting for the new trait events to happen and the megaserver system has pretty much dropped everything on its head so no-one really knows whats going on when. Also its annoying to have to switch windows to find the time of an event.

So in summary, countdowns to events visible in game would be great.

Are you having a laugh? Have you tried clicking play now at all? Nothing… All games are full. Selecting a server you find yourself in a crowd of 10 people watching 10 others play the game while you sit there doing kitten all.

Joining a server with space, you find yourself randomly kicked by whoever owns the arena. I say again. This is nonsense.

So when i interact with evon gnashblade at the moment he says something about temporary statues. These are mysterious and… apparently non-existent because having paid the 50 silver just to find out what it is, I recieved nothing at all.

Its an indication of time spent on the game and with time spent comes experience. While its true you can find decent players with 1-2k AP it is much more likely that players with higher scores know what they’re doing and aren’t going to waste your time.

Its annoying for decent players when they are undermined by clueless people. Its the only way you can really separate the men from the boys as it were.

Obviously its not a foolproof system of selection. But its more LIKELY, not certain, the higher AP means smoother runs.

Guardians are great fun and useful in a lot of situations, dungeons, wvw, group fights, just in general good to have.

Main difference between guardians and warriors is that guardians have to try a lot harder when it comes to survival. They are most effective as support and part of a team. Not so much 1v1.

Guardians can’t use SS but you shouldn’t discount them for that, they are still awesome with the weapons they have available.

The autoattack with a staff on guardian struggles to hit people on even slightly different levels of elevation. We’re talking like even a slight slope here. I don’t know if its a bug so much as an oversight, it just bothers me.

You’ll note that holy spear makes a return from the depths of guildwars’ past. This skill is minion melting goodness, also effective against other summoned npcs such as thieves guild thieves, mesmer clones and spirit weapons. (fingers crossed)

I have other ideas but i doubt they shall ever see the light of day.

They should make a new race which is essentially just giant talking hedgehogs which can walk on 2 legs. They would form an order called The Misthogs, who are sworn to prevent the battle in the mists from spilling into living world. These should replace the legendary defenders because lets be honest, the existing models are functional but boring.

Oh also, instead of firing death barrages, the misthogs will curl into a ball and crush the approaching zerg with a death roll.

Basically it would be most convenient to separate the interact function such as “build” or “repair” from the “talk” to npc button.

Obviously this only applies with some of the issues mentioned such as talking to the repair guy.

Underwater weapon skins/wardrobe

I know that underwater combat is being removed from pvp (a change which i am devastated by) at the same time as the new wardrobe system being put in. So my question is will the equipped pvp underwater skins be added to the wardrobe? Since they will be made redundant in pvp but remain relevant for pve.

Also, on the off chance that one voice makes a difference, PLEASE don’t remove underwater combat from pvp. It makes one of the best, most unique maps.

Well it can’t be cloak and dagger because using that skill while in stealth, ends the stealth. My server encountered the same nonsense and there has been no response, even when i emailed support and exploits… some acknowledgement from a dev would be good to hear, but when/if that will happen is anybody’s guess.

Report function for leechers

So this is just a small thing really but its quite frustrating. In tournament matches i would like a report function for players who leech. Since at the moment when you report a player the options you get don’t seem to cover leeching. If there is a correct option present, its really not obvious which it is meant to be.

I guess its just a quality of life thing but that shouldn’t make it less important.

So here it is again devs. You’re probably getting tired of reading this nonsense, but i can guarantee that you’re not as tired as we, the players, are of reporting, emailing and complaining about it with no response.

Since for some reason the previous posts on this topic have been mysteriously deleted without any response i’m going to avoid pointing fingers at other servers. Lets just say that in a certain EU server, we are having the living daylights hacked out of us in EB.

Said hackers, because there are more than one active, are walking into towers and keeps like the walls aren’t there. Then they proceed to kill people from a permanent state of invisibility and invincibility. The only safe place to stand on the entire map is in the spawn.

So now to promote discussion to further attempt to keep the post from getting washed off the face of the internet. I’d like to suggest some kind of security measures to prevent this kind of exploit. There badly, badly needs to be some prevention of this kind of thing.

I’m really looking for some acknowledgement from a dev here… We have recieved no feedback or even a nod that the problem has been registered, come on at least pretend you care.

Pistol Whip and Decap Engineer

So massive whomping cc builds are pretty nasty to play against, I haven’t played a match in forever without this gank… So I’m just going to throw out a few suggestions for possible solutions.

Hambow penalties:
-Missing or having cc skills blocked causes weakness and/or vulnerabilty… also removes the active stance (similar to wild blow in gw1)
- the adrenaline skill area of effect should be smaller… then you might actually need to aim with some finesse in order to be effective.

Decap engis:
- In a similar fashion to the penalty for missing attacks for warrior, messing up should have a penalty for engis as well.
-missing with flame thrower blow back should cause knockback on the caster and set the kit on a cooldown… 15 seconds or so (just a rough guesstimate)
- if the opponent has stability when using the rifle or shield knockbacks, weakness and/or vulnerability should be inflicted on the caster as well as self knockdown (perhaps excluding the shield for the knockdown since it makes sense for a misfiring rifle/flamethrower to have that effect, while a shield not so much).

Pisol whip:
-i do confess this hasn’t been so much of a problem in my own experience since thieves are pretty squishy, and you will find about 15 hambows to each pistol whipper in a day of pvp.
-having said this i do think that landing the stun from pistol whip should inflict a cooldown of some sort on the ability, spamming one ability over and over should not win you a fight.

And i’m done. I know some of these suggestions would be hard to implement but this kind of cc heavy build is smothering what fun there once was in pvp.

Glory Boosters

Just a suggestion really. I would like to see glory boosts changed into a one-time lump of glory rather than a percentage boost as it is at the moment, maybe 100-200 glory.

Since these boosters will be made redundant soon, it seems a shame to just delete them after recieving them as rewards for playing.

There are not enough hours between now and the 18th to use all of these boosters before the update makes them worthless, so this small change would be much appreciated.

I’d like to see an exclusively underwater map. Underwater combat is almost completely overlooked in pvp. It only features in one map and most players just ignore the fact its there. It also means that certain playstyles will have some drawbacks where currently there are none. Eg. stun warriors, where is your hammer now!

I think the new zodiac weapon skins were a shame, but i appreciate the input of new skins. I just think that the players should have a chance to suggest their own versions of what they want to see, rather than reworking a classic skin set with calamitous results.

no i want all classes to have one skill that can minimise the effect of a horde of tiny creatures, in guildwars 1 the necromancer skill in question could only remove one minion, or a skill that could steal all minions at a heavy sacrifice to health. I want there to be a counter to these builds other than running away or just out damaging them.
