suggestion: fix what is broken, seriously, that's step 1
in Suggestions
Posted by: Sulmith Greysin.5124
i logged in hoping there weren’t still a lot of DEs in a bugged state and sure enough, they were bugged. the 40-50 zones were ok until last weekend and since then (and even after the bug fix patch last night) have been a mess.
then my character gets stuck in a loading screen
then 50s of auctions disappears
then lag/dcs set in
game went from “perfectly fine for me” to “unplayable” right now. if you want to seriously compete with WoW, you HAVE to fix the majority of these little things asap. you are not being held to the same standard as WoW because it’s the incumbent. it gets free passes on the bugs it has which isn’t fair, but ask Bioware if fair pays the bills when everyone jumps ship in the window of 3 months.
Gamers NEED competition in this market and so far nobody has really put a dent in WoW in the US/EU markets. Rift’s release was the best i’d personally ever experienced, and i’ve played every AAA mmo since EQ. GW2’s launch was smooth overall but the past week has been bad. i’m not sure i had an issue until the past week.
I’m gonna keep up to date on the upcoming patches, hoping all the broken DE and quest mobs get fixed soon but in the meantime i have 7 days of free WoW time and i don’t like wow, but at this point being goofy in /2 > than my gw2 experience. whatever you did the past week made a lot of things worse.
We all want this game to succeed and put enough pressure on the market to take a step forward that WE THE CUSTOMERS benefit from as well. MMORPGs are in a rut and have been since WoW blew up in late vanilla.
We don’t need new shiny features right now, we need what you have already implemented to work and we need it to work for everyone. Take up that slack. Bioware never could and it killed what i thought would be a successful game.

Equipping More than one Rune in Armor fails but destroys the second Rune
Posted by: Sulmith Greysin.5124
Omg, where were the instructions on how to do this?! five million years later, and I finally find out how to do this from a random forum post when ANet should’ve made it more apparent.
it’s an MMO, ask in /map
if you get rude comments, block/report and move on, someone will help you. the original design of MMOs was for the community to sustain itself then wow came along and blizzard let everyone dissect their game and theorycraft, give you guides, etc, and that community died.
if you can’t figure something out though, just ask in map or make a post here. there is a need for a few more tooltips but most people ignore them anyway. like this OP, ignored the tooltip that says YOU ARE ABOUT TO DESTROY THE SIGIL THAT’S IN THE ARMOR
Equipping More than one Rune in Armor fails but destroys the second Rune
Posted by: Sulmith Greysin.5124
Ahhh….well that’s very misleading then. It doesn’t say 1 PIECE or 2 piece 3 piece and so on like you would normally see in say WoW or Diablo 3… It very much looks like the bonus is derived from multiple runes in one piece of gear. Well, thanks for the info.
well it actually tells you when you’re equipping one over another that the other will be destroyed so yes, it does tell you what you’re doing there.
it doesn’t make it clear that you need 2 pieces of armor with the same 2pc set sigil though, but anyone who has played other MMOs is used to what a set bonus tooltip looks like and figures it out. they need a mouseover tooltip that explains that probably
but it does tell you that you can’t put 2 in the same slot
your problems can be solved by:
reading the “annoying boxes that pop up on your screen” and the tooltips
if my 8 year old niece figured it out without even reading, it’s not a hard game to pick up and get going in
the tutorial even tells you in detail how to do everything and in your launcher there is a video that is for new players
this isn’t a bug, it’s not supposed to drop a full duration caltrops because that would be completely op
honestly what do you want to hear? if they’re working on it, what can they say? the DDU thing is just as annoying but there just isn’t much that can be done. really won’t help to tell us daily “we’re working on it”
just the nature of MMOs. EVERY mmo has went through this for weeks, months and even years.
best thing is to just let us complain, get it out, and keep working on the fix. in a year you’ll never think about it again

there aren’t “FOV issues” there are a few people who are jumping on the “FOV qq train” and i’m starting to wonder if they know what FOV even is. nobody EVER suggests a FOV that they would be more comfortable with. you want 75 degrees? 90? 80? what?
i’ve not seen a game where changing the standard FOV didn’t result in distortion. 5 degrees change from what is intended creates stretching on the edge to fill the screen.
you need to address WHAT you don’t like about FOV and what FOV you would prefer. otherwise i just don’t see how this thread helps a thing
your suggestions are awful. there is NO system in any other game in history as close to perfect as GW2’s TP
all servers are linked so that’s good for the buyer (lower prices) and the seller (you can sell anything).
the people who don’t like the TP have no problem with the TP itself, they have a problem with not exploiting/controlling an economy on a small server, probably in wow, like they’re accustomed to.
you’re no longer a big fish in a small pond. now you gotta learn how to beat the big boys.
Hi everyone.
We are fully aware of the issue and the dev team is working on a fix that will be applied retroactively to all your characters, but we still don´t have an estimate time for it. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Can’t you use a GM tool to manually activate the skill to the users who contacted the support center? Until this is globally fixed at least.
That’s a serious issue. People are paying real money for that.
people PAID real money for it and it’s only a problem after they have our money. this hurts that ‘cares about the customers more than blizzard’ rep. this is what blizzard would do, sell you something that’s broken, they know it’s broken but you find out too late. i haven’t even used the rest of my DD items, they’re in my bank, i just wanted the elite skill for vanity reasons
this guy wants hits on his blog. that’s all this thread is.
It’s not lag, and my FPS is routinely in the 60-80fps range, including in situations where it’s occurring.
It’s a common attempt by MMO developers to try to alleviate server load, and it almost always gets reverted because of the gameplay problems it causes.
lag has NOTHING to do with framerate
NOTHING AT ALL
this is why i know it’s lag, because most people have no clue what lag is. if there is a delay in how long it takes information from the game server to reach you, the game is still going on but on your screen you may be standing there staring at a mob that is standing there too
or you may walk into a zone that hasn’t rendered on your screen yet because the information to render it hasn’t made it to you, but the information from you to the server
fps has nothing to do with lag whatsoever
I realize that. You said “people who disagree will think it’s FPS”. I don’t think it’s FPS, and I was pointing out that, in fact, my FPS is fine.
However, I disagree that it’s lag. As I stated in my OP, I routinely monitor my packet RTT to various sites. It is always in the tens of milliseconds.
However, feel free to continue to insist it’s lag. Nobody else in this thread is having lag-related problems, nor in the other 4-5 threads related to this exact problem. It hasn’t been lag-related in any other game that has instituted this SERVER-SIDE ATTEMPT TO OPTIMIZE GRAPHICS PERFORMANCE FOR CUSTOMERS…which is exactly what this particular problem happens to be. It’s a poor optimization and needs to be reverted because it has detrimental effects on play.
I’m sorry you keep getting disconnected due to lag, but this thread has nothing whatsoever to do with lag. I suggest you post a separate thread, in the Tech Support forum, to get help with your networking problems.
your reply even mentioned FPS. if you knew what lag was, you’d never bring up FPS to “prove it’s not lag”
i’d appreciate it if you’d just get whatever last word you wanna get and then move on, you’re wrong, me and you both know it, now we can move on
this is a network issue. i’m sure they know about it. i’m sure they’ll fix it. that’s why they haven’t touched it because they’re way ahead of that point.
it’s not even a bug
here is what is happening and it’s simple. you’re moving forward from a safe area with no/dead mobs, you only render so far ahead when it comes to npcs, but you keep going and since nothing is around, you aren’t gonna notice it because the landscape HAS been rendered. the “pop in” that you’re seeing isn’t like when your graphics settings are up too high and it renders them later than it should, or they’re low and draw closer to you than they do when on high, this pop in is all the NPC/mob data being fed to you at the same time after a brief period of nothing due to the lag spike.
the best i can tell, guild wars will even draw NPCs in the distance and then it will assign more data as you get closer, which is why you can see NPCs with high settings but can’t target them yet. it’s a way to make the world look better without sacrificing what is in the distance because that is very noticeable and annoying.

it’s lag. you don’t want to hear that, but that’s what it is. i’ve had it happen 2 or 3 times, but it was an obvious lag spike.
the people who will disagree think that FPS drop is lag.
but it’s lag
You’re wrong. It’s not lag. If it were lag my abilities wouldn’t hit visible enemies as soon as I cast them.
I too experience this issue.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit
AMD 6870 1Gb GPU
i5-750 Stock speed CPU
4Gb DDR3 RAMA long with a lot of other bugs this needs to be addressed ASAP. I’ve tried turning my settings to their lowest with everything disabled and still i’ve experienced these pop-in’s. There’s not much difference for me in performance with maxed settings and lowest settings. In WvWvW it’s all the same but playable.
it’s lag. your settings affect framerate/fps, you do not understand the difference in lag and fps drop. if it takes an extra .3 seconds to send info to the server and get info back, you’ll notice that everything seems to stop for a second. that lag feels like time freezes a second, it’s not when you turn fast and the game gets choppy, that’s fps drop
i saw it again today and then lagged out and died because while on my screen nothing was going on, on the game’s server the wolves ate me
it’s lag. seen it in every MMORPG i’ve ever played.
(edited by Sulmith Greysin.5124)
same on anvil’s rock
a few zones where you can’t do much more than 1-3 hearts and grind
i said above somewhere that i’d just take my money back for now but honestly, this will get fixed, i know it, and you don’t need it. the main reason i bought it is so that 5 years down the road it’s not available, i can bust it out and people will say “man, wow sucks where’d you get those wolves”
and i can stroke the kitten
HA! It has been how long since gw1 came out? Guess what? You can still buy deluxe upgrade and items for it. consider your party rained on.
i haven’t seen divine aura offered since 2005 unless you find a CE on ebay. if you don’t get something and they quit offering it, then sometimes you just don’t get it. at worst i got what i paid for (eventually)
I’m not enjoying the mess that dungeons are now. I apreciate the idea to wanting to remove the trinity, but ANet seems to have done so without presenting an alternative.
I have found from personal experience that a dedicated healer makes dungeons a lot easier. My experiences were similar to the OP, but when I made a ‘full’ (as much as possible) healing spec with all +healing gear on my guardian suddenly dungeons started going a lot smoother. My 4 teammates could focus on their task at hand and not have to constantly worry and have to run out of combat just to not die, and they were glad to know I was watching over their health bars.
Though not intended by ANet, it seems to work better, and was also definatly more enjoyable (for all 5 of us, I sometimes have the idea ANet wants to remove the trinity because they think tanks and healers dont enjoy their job). Its to bad there is not threat system making tanking very viable, and CC is still to short and scarce, so combat will remain a mess.
Oh and no, I dont consider ‘graveyard zerging’ (running from the waypoints to the boss before a resets) a viable alternative to the trinity. I’m not entirely sure what ANets intend is, I hope somebody can enlighten me, because I’m not seeing it.
the alternative is to learn what you’re doing. you can’t be present and help, you have to actually be useful. if you get in a group with bad players, your awsomeness will not help you finish in spite of them, you’ll end up replacing them or you will quit too
they’re simply forcing people to be held accountable or get nothing but a headache in return. i like that. just because 90% of all gamers are pathetic does not mean you should dumb everything down to their level and punish the 10% who care.
at some point the company will either crash and burn or the 90% will start reading tooltips and improve 10 fold with the same effort required to drive down the road.
it’s not that they can’t, it’s that they won’t unless they have to and in guild wars, you have to
if you wanna log in and receive things, wow does that
they’ve changed daily for me. low prices benefit people who buy gems with gold. they’re 1/3 what they were last week.
this low rate right now is good for the players and not as good for AN. find that hard to complain about.
you’ve posted what, 10-15 threads today and none of them are bugs? c’mon kid
i said above somewhere that i’d just take my money back for now but honestly, this will get fixed, i know it, and you don’t need it. the main reason i bought it is so that 5 years down the road it’s not available, i can bust it out and people will say “man, wow sucks where’d you get those wolves”

GO PLAY WOW
No. Been there done that, years ago – very boring very fast and on top of this Blizzard is a very greedy company i rather not support.
yet you want exactly what they sell
you might like it now, it’s been dumbed down considerably since “years ago” and the average player turns with his keyboard and clicks spells so it’s not an overly competitive environment
and when it finishes you will most likely unlock a vendor that is normally not there?
And then what? I can not buy anything which would be an upgrade. The itemization of this game is one big disappointment.
you want a gear treadmill, GO PLAY WOW
this game isn’t a gear treadmill, it will never be a gear treadmill and arenanet has been at this whole MMORPG thing longer than blizzard so they’re not gonna be forced by the wow addicts to change that.
gear treadmill in wow has been stuck for what, 9 months now? fun huh?
endless content will never, ever, ever happen. it’s impossible. you want quantity over quality over quantity, but quantity in any form will never pay a studio’s bills
There are games which are 20 years old which are still great. And it is irrelevant how long it takes you to level since 80. With level 80 at the current state of the game, you can just farm / do repetitive taks (this includes pvp).
ME: endless content will never happen
YOU: YOU’RE WRONG, 20 year old games are great
yeah, that’s just stupid.
anyway, if you spend half of your life for 3 weeks doing something, you are doing it too much. you sleep about 30% of your life. you work about 30% of your life. you’re cutting into sleeping or working so yeah, you’re burned out and there is no argument to be had, you overdid it and you are now crashing.
when a crack addict overdoes it, they die, it could be worse
it’s lag. you don’t want to hear that, but that’s what it is. i’ve had it happen 2 or 3 times, but it was an obvious lag spike.
the people who will disagree think that FPS drop is lag.
but it’s lag
i saw a guy attacking air for the whole shatterer fight earlier
he didn’t have him targeted and was spamming the hell out of his abilities. not sure if he got credit or not but i know people do this and never realize it lol
Nothing and apparently people are ok with that since there is no subs fee :P
Yeah, i figured that GW2 is not the holy grail i was looking for
so you expected endless content for people who are technically gaming addicts?
you’ve probably logged what, 150-200 hours in 3 weeks? you’re burned out. you’re not motivated because half of your life the past 3 weeks has been focused on one thing. i’m level 47 with tons of game to go. you turned the game into a job and now you’re sick of it.
endless content will never, ever, ever happen. it’s impossible. you want quantity over quality over quantity, but quantity in any form will never pay a studio’s bills
560ti probably wouldn’t run this game at max everything even if it was a single player game
add in all the other people and the extra GPU/CPU stress and 40fps average is great
you can’t go by what people claim their card does, sometimes they just straight up lie to you. if ANYONE is claiming 60fps average, they’re lying or they’re somewhere that has no events going on, no players around, nothing really going on
the reason MMOs don’t look like crysis is because there may be 50-100 people on your screen at any given time. even 50-100 NPC actors will throttle a computer, but 50-100 actual players does it even worse than that
30+ FPS is all you can hope for on average. 30 in a congested area is great
never had this issue. if you truly want to fix the problem then start with your keybinds, playstyle, mouse
if you wanna complain to feel better then just keep on in this thread i guess, just won’t fix anything because nothing in gw2 is broken.
The idea they have tried to fool people into thinking, that the game takes “more skill” to play because of no heal/tank and added a dodge feature, is just laziness on the part of the developer, and sadly too many people have bought into this idea. They can slack on mechanics, which they obviously have. I agree with Prophet, why would anyone make a kittened ranged class like a warrior or guardian when they wanted to be melee. Its just a lack of a classic mmo game feature that a lot of people like.
lack of features is what i thought the last time i afktanked heroic DS in wow. push what lights up, pay attention when DBM makes noise, make sure to push deathstrike a lot
i’ve noticed a lot of people who broke into MMORPGs with wow think wow defined the genre. wow has no RPG elements and since you can push a button to get a group of people you don’t need to talk to and still “complete end-game” it’s not even an MMO really. it’s a game lobby. it belongs on xbox.
the people who will spend money in this game do NOT want that. if we did we’d be afk in sw or org right now with the 200,000 other people who are logged in. bet there are 100,000 people who are so bored right now they’re spamming something about thunderfury and arguing about whether a 360 degree turn is a circle or not
to kitten with that
i’m playing on an old quad core with a hd 5450 so i just giggled when i saw your specs and that you’re having a nvidia issue
ironically the 560ti is doing great on gw2, there is nothing to iron out, the brand new cards are just experiencing bugs like they always do. it’s standard to release a card 6 months ahead of when it can be pushed to 100% due to all the things that require ironing out.
a lot of people refuse to accept that new isn’t always better. so they buy new, help beta test it the first 6 months, then finally get what they paid for
I pretty much want to heal/buff/cc, I was thinking maybe necromancer, I’m just not too sure, So I figured I would post here and get some insight before making a decision.
your responsibilities include everything though. you can’t shrug off some for “your style”. you have to help kill, debuff, buff, damage, tank, heal, etc
that’s your job in gw2
wow’s “features” have turned it into a cesspool of kitten who queue up from their lobby to mindlessly aoe for justice and valor points
they even managed to turn raiding into the same thing with LFR
people will take the path of least resistance, especially today’s “gamers”, don’t give them a path to take and they will make do.
everyone tanks, heals and does dps
you’re basically crying because your porsche doesn’t fly like a cessna. if you want a game where you only do 1 of the 3, wow does that and will always do that. it’s boring. it’s predictable. it requires less attention and skill.
no
just report these threads in the BUG FORUM that aren’t BUGS
people will figure it out eventually
duels would be as useful as they are in wow, not at all. dueling comes down to which class is most self sufficient and when you kick someone’skitten who thought they were pretty good, they cry, they’ll pester you, they’ll cause all kinds of drama
no problem with dueling as an option but don’t paint it as useful, it’s not, it’s not useful to duel a thief 1v1 when wvw will see you in multi-player battles most of the time. GW2 isn’t balanced 1v1. Dueling just leads to more forum QQ.
it’s far more useful to simply play every profession and learn what they can and can’t do.
i’ve always seen dueling as a way to exploit the FOTM to grow your kitten
MOST people aren’t good enough to kill anything without the corpse running method. you don’t understand that MOST MMORPG PLAYERS are really, really, really bad. they don’t read tooltips, they don’t know what the button they’re pushing does, they don’t pay attention to anything in the UI.
you HAVE to appeal to the majority (the bad players who like to just log in and do whatever) or you can’t afford to make an AAA game. MMORPGs will NEVER be hardcore again. GW2 is as difficult as an MMORPG is going to get if they expect to make any money.
today’s gamers are SOFT but they pay the bills. they couldn’t figure out bowser’s castle maze without a guide though
If people actually read the announcements they’d have known…
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Update-Notes-September-8th-2012
Last paragraph:
· The following Cooking Materials are no longer sold for Karma and are now acquired through drops, gathering nodes, or loot bags: Butter, Chocolate, Vanilla, Chili Peppers, Thyme, Black Peppercorns, Cinnamon, Bay Leaves, Walnuts, and Oranges. If people actually read this thread before posting they would have known…
We already know about the announcement. Clearly.
That’s why this thread exists.
Everyone is upset about it.
Read what everyone has already said.
this thread was created asking if the NOTED CHANGES are a bug. your attitude is getting in the way of your ability to notice that.
this isn’t a bug, this is a whine tread about how rare items are rare
mouse over the bag’s tooltip
“Items in this box will never appear in a sell-to-vendor list and will not move when inventory is sorted.”
you gotta read tooltips. you can’t be a decent player until you learn to read what is given to you via tooltips.
got the same problem. really wish i hadn’t bought it now
