Beta times

I know the majority of your player base is probably based in US and what not. But I farmed for hours and hours for a portal only to get slapped with times from 4:30AM-2:30PM for me in Melbourne. I go to work at around 5 and get home at about 2 ( can be much much later depending on the weather ) which leaves me with a total testing time of a hour if its a good day, its ether this or I sacrifice a days pay to play.
Just curious as to why its not done on a weekend also? I would assume more players across all timezones would be able to participate if it was on a weekend.

The main reason I’m annoyed and I’m sure other are is because you based the drop on RNG and welcomed all to try get it, would have been nice to say “Beta based in US time zones” or at least something as a warning to those in timezones other than the chosen timezone.

Silverwaste Breach loot

At around 6:30AM Server time on the 9/2 I finally ( 6 attempts today ) got a 5/5 breach, and for the second time in my silver waste experience I got no loot. This was very annoying and mood breaking ( was in a pretty good mood for gaming ). I have seen other people complain of this issue from time to time, luckily it isn’t frequent, but it is very annoying.

More specific information
-I was doing amber and we killed troll at around 3min mark – I got the boss reward
-I headed to help Red/Indigo but red finished up so I headed to indigo
-I DID NOT activate another extractor and helped indigo
-Breach was 5/5 and I was lootless.

I have experienced this bug since the first time Halloween came around, the first 2 years I thought it only affected my sylvari characters and reported it but never thought to much of it rather than a annoyance. I remember this happening 14 times in a row on a sylvari character before I came to the conclusion that certain characters were just rigged.

This bug prevents me from getting through the window at the top of the clock, a lot may blame it on lag ( and I’m assuming that would be anets excuse to ) but I’ve got the best net I can get ( not that great compared to the US/UK but pretty good for Australia ), if it was lag I’m sure a simple changing of the character wouldn’t fix the problem ether.

I decided to film a few attempts and will list what character they were on in order. This is also the order I played in and within the space of 50 mins so not to much could have changed.

1st-4th Warrior
5th-8th Elementalist ( from 6th attempt to 11th I was experiencing minor lag due to house mate downloading )
9th Warrior
10th/11th Elementalist

Pro's and con's

I believe this is one of the better living story updates, it just feels right, seems to have a good amount of story and also has a good balance. I haven’t really enjoyed the living story so far, it seemed to be all over the place and even with knowing scarlet’s plan it still felt like it was all over the place, however this patch feels right and very well constructed.
However there is a small amount of problems I can see, first up green keys drop 5 to 1 compared to the blue and pink, right now I have a tri-key and 5 green keys, something needs to be done about this, they are pointless without each other so its annoying. Next up is the waiting time for chambers, It is far to long, I resorted to overflow jumping to get most of mine. Last up is people who arrive late even just a day or 2 for this patch may have a hard time getting to the top due to the lack of zergs and everyone just skipping up, I could imagine how annoying this would be.
Overall I am impressed and really enjoying myself ingame, this should be the minimum for all future Living story installments Thanks.

I have a serious question, how do the players of BG find it entertaining to camp a tower for hours with no real action except getting wiped if you move out of it? Does PPT really motivate you that much that your willing to go through bordem for it

Gem Store - Make your items accountbound

Not going to happen.

Those items are soulbound on use for at least two reasons. First up is to maximize the potential cash that you get. After all, if they were account bound, no one would buy more than 1. Second up is that the additional gem usage from being soulbound functions as a gem sink, which is just as crucial for the gem economy as all the gold sinks are for the gold.

Would be great for my legendary, if I ever change main. What else could be added for say 1k gems is a permanent account bound feature, meaning it never becomes soulbound again.

Lol, they’re not just going to sell you the ability to turn off a sink. I guess you would also like the ability to spend 1000 gems to never have to pay fees on the TP? Or 1000 gems to eliminate your waypoint costs?

As it stands ( unless it got nerfed, but I don’t recall anyone saying the trick has been nerfed ) I cant account bound it for free, its just a annoyance, may as well make it available to make some money.

The other day I got a tad… annoyed, instead of repeating the rant ill post it here:

Although its not very constructive it is what happened and what lead me to this thread, the more constructive one where we, and hopefully some Devs can discuss future changes. In that thread you see my story, I grinded away to get myself eternity, some of which was paid for simple because I was sick and bored of grinding. These are some suggestions I have been thinking of the past few days which could reward account bound precursors for those who work and play for them.

1. achievement points. At 10,000 Achievement points it is my opinion that these players should receive the option for any one account bound precursor, this should also be for 20k, 30k and so on. This is not going to kill the market IMO, to have 10k AP’s they will have to of played for around a year and defiantly deserve the reward, I myself am only 9k AP’s averaging 5+ hours a day.

2. Daily ‘precursor hunt’. So in this one the mechanics already seem to be there, have a daily that goes into a meta achievement for a precursor chest as the reward, in the chest have a selection of all the precursors ( Account bound ofc ) just like the ascended gear selection. So this one needs to be say, 150-200 dailies IMO, and needs to be well balanced, say ‘complete temple of Balthazar’ has the potential to get that temple open while doing their daily precursor meta. This daily could be anything but it cant be too time consuming otherwise it will be closer to a a grind.

That’s my 2 flagship suggestion for precursors that I believe ( I’m not a programmer so I don’t know for sure ) could be implemented relatively easily considering the base layer of those systems are already in-game. We should also leave the RNG machine in the game as-well as the very very rare drop chance, the system works as-long as their is a solid way to get one without the need to get uber lucky.

So I feel like this game still has grinding, you guys said ‘no grind’ and you have done a excellent job at it. However the legendary system let you down, some say they are not a requirement but doing any of what I have suggested ( you guys may already have some more awesome ideas in mind ) would make them progressive rather than a grind, everything about the legendary system is very good and feels progressive, except the precursor ( and maybe, just maybe icy runestones? )

LFG
I believe if people abuse the system ( start the instance and ditch without notice kicking everyone etc ) they should receive at first a 2 week ban from the LFG tool, further offences increase the ban time, just to end frustration of players being jerks. This next one is good and bad, kinda. Introduce non limited experience for dungeons, a lot of people are happy to take pugs along with them but there has been several times I have faced lupi and wiped due to rezzing the same people again and again, the end strategy to beat him with that group ( on multiple occasions I have picked up pugs like this ) was to ignore the 2 that kept going down and try 3 man it from phase 2. Its very frustrating to ask for experienced players and then get people with no idea who get a free ride while myself and the others have to work harder.

EDIT! Me and a few guildies were talking about this a while back, not only is it awesome for players but is also profitable ( everybody wins )

These SoR guys are beyond kitten and moving rapidly into prolapsed bowel level of whining.

I just find it odd we were doing rather well, TC was about and had a couple fights with their zerg. Wake up the next day near on equal, a new large BG EU guild and TC no where in sight ( as commented earlier I have seen maybe 10-20 at max one time in 2 days ). :S just seems fishy while I was playing 8 hours a day and in my sleep/work break that happened.
I read the conspiracies on here and they seem like a pretty logical explanation for someone desperate to win at any cost.

How ever I was not even slightly joking with the farming part, seriously keep it up. I’m sure one of you has my next precursor.

I actually enjoy BG having numbers, it just means more bags for us. Been farming them while they have greater numbers and superior blood lust all night, numbers doesn’t equal skill which is shockingly noticeable with BG. PtW also doesn’t require skill… But BG would know nothing about that right?….

Alas its good to see a guild on BehindaGate that like to battle open field.

I do him daily. Really good rewards for 15 to 30 minutes of work.

15-30 mins for the fight itself, an hour or so to organize on voice comms and get into a overflow, so pretty kitten loot for 1h-1.5 hours work. Nice try anet minion.

Even without a fix its still very very possible. Dungeons IMO are optional content, if you want to run them get a class that is more helpful to a group ( Lol rangers…. kitten useless ). I have rebuilt my guard 2-3 times to better help out my DPS friends in a dungeon, I also built a zerka war just for dungeons, you want the tokens, you want the cash? put in the time to learn to play a class thats more helpful in a group

Few Ideas and Bad news.

Hello Anet, first up I will like to say thank you for trying to give us regular content and sorry for jumping ahead to blast you when I thought the content was ridiculous ( Some of it was, I’m not gunna say I completely take back what I have said ). Now that I have said that I have some bad news which I will post a image of with this post, a lot of my guild ( who are veteran GW1 players from the very beginning of GW1 ) have decided to go elsewhere, for what reason exactly I am not sure but I have a feeling the content schedule has a big part to play in it, and without my guildies I will have nothing to do, so I fear I may be leaving soon also.

First up, The living story, well most the time really its more a event you can usually complete in a few days and not really much of a story. After the few days have past the interest in the event just disappears leaving us to do regular things, a lot of which is boring/grindy. My first suggestion is to take it back to one LS per month and set the other teams on a whole new expansion, I think everyone would love to see Cantha, maybe even Elona, hell you have enough free room on Tyria to open up that would make a huge change/lots of new content to explore.

Next on my list, Loot. The time vs reward in this game is extremely discouraging, considering the price of precursors ( when I am pretty sure are being monopolized and capped, you guys should look into that ) and other items people may want to achieve. Its very difficult to save that much money, particularly when you guys keep adding limited time items and the money saved goes to the new items ingame or into gems to get new items. It s a violent circle of discouragement IMO.

Next up customization, I am sure people will disagree here, but I am going to use a sylvari heavy as my example. I have tried many many combinations but some of them are just insane, clipping issues can be so frustrating sometimes, colour differences in armor is another one. I have TA heavy on, mainly because I can’t find anything else that looks good, so maybe some new armor/weapon skins more frequently. Gift of light has a ton of recipes but gift of darkness has one ( I think ). I would love to see a dark and light set of basically any forge weapon, it was a brilliant theme for Twilight/Sunrise and Genesis/Entropy why not change a few effects/colour/recipe and throw them in the mix? Also why not add ‘Legendary dyes’ ( You know a 100g scavenger hunt, not something worth 1500g ) that change during night and day or have special effects on the armor.

This last one I think we really need. HM vanquish, I miss it so much, this is what brought me to have a good friendship with some people from completely different countries, I used to stay up late and kill everything in sight. You could even use this idea for the precursor scavenger hunt. Make it so Tyria HM must be completed to get a Gift of the precursor or something like that, give it incentive/worthwhile rewards. Its something I think we can all agree on ( hopefully )

As for the attachment this is what I woke up to on my guild FB page. Don’t forget anet these are people that played GW1 for 7 years and are bailing on GW2 in just 1. Something must be getting done wrong.

Its not that he isn’t fun, he just relies on 6 players way way way too much. I love the fight and the mechanics but those turrets really need to be automated to make this event what it really should be. Automate them and just add another 2 enemies spawn with the mobs, make us fight to keep them up. Sure it means changing some mechanics ( how many turrets need to be up to keep his scales off etc, turrets target CO’s or something along them lines )

Another problem is if I tag up and fail I get a incoming of hate from left right and center, even if its the turrets fault. I have been there to beat him, and many times knocked him down to 50% but in the end lots of off peak time zones are missing out, what are they supposed to do? stay up till 5am ( If they are lucky enough to be in main server ).

All in all I love the event, I love the difficulty, but I hate them kitten turrets with a passion. The event also starts the wrong way around, IMO it should start with the laser ( even if this mean dropping the timer to 12 mins or so ) charge, much more fun and less ‘zerg group, press a few skills and jump on occasion’. It would eliminate the need for voice comms and give smaller less organized servers/timezones a fighting chance for loot.

We shouldn’t need to use a 3rd party program ( Voice comms ) to complete a IG boss. Its just ridiculous. EDIT, Remember its also in a level 65 zone, so lets all get a level 65 character and see how we fair against a level 65 boss?…. Yeah that’ll end well.

I love this content, its only problem is you really need a voice communication program to complete it. Its fun, different and challenging but people just don’t listen/can’t type fast enough while staying alive to complete this event without voice communications.

My solution makes logical sense without a change to health etc. Why not have the laser cannon event happen first? It makes logical sense, they see him approaching so they charge the laser, this IMO would give off a much funner event, still challenging but much more fun and less run in and watch everyone else die because they have no idea. It would also give the smaller servers a much better fight, I mean if i was in a low pop server I would be guesting to try complete at this point.

The last thing I want to touch on is if this event has no change in it people will avoid it once they have achievements, purely because the time put in is not worth the reward ( which is often nothing ). I did make a post about this last night but I was slightly off, after playing it a few times I understand it a lot better but still find it super frustrating that the lack of in game communications is IMO failing us. I would also like to thank the devs for the amazing event and really implementing something that’s a huge challenge, unfortunately they have placed that challenge in a PVE non instance area. Also I already see lots of people coming in here with “This content isn’t for everyone etc blah blah” then why is it in a everyone zone? and if its for people who think they are elitist why don’t you just gather up all the ‘elitist’ and go into overflow and show everyone how its done?

Oh look its the same thread that always gets put up on day one of any new content…. yawn.

Everytime they change something or add something new or harder people say its impossible for the first week, hard the second week and by a month in its on farm status and people cry for more.

How do the OPs of these posts not see the pattern? Go back and read ANY of the living story update forums of the past and laugh.

This is the last i’ll say to people who defend, I LOVE A CHALLENGE, but the community prefers profit over challenge, meaning this event and others like it will go as dead as the queen karka.

All in all, it needs a tweak, its not a hardcore gamer event and should not be treated as such.

Actually, I think that the World Bosses should be adressed as Hardcore Content, since those are the most "bad kitten encounters in the game, and I think that the rewards should be worthwhile as well.

- I’m not really a hardcore gamer myself, so no flaming me, but I think that having the world bosses being encounters that require players to work together with the use of vehicles, combo fields and what-have-you is the way to go.
- I don’t think they should be keyboard-smashingly hard, but they should challenge the players and everything they’ve learned throughout the game.

Bosses used to be about challenging players’ skill level and awareness on the battlefield, and the harder they got, the more rewarding they were, thus doing them felt even more awesome.
- If a game doesn’t evolve the players skill level throughout the game, it has failed. If there’s no harder content with better rewards, the game has failed or it just feels rather stale (mostly this goes for MMO’s).
If the encounter is too hard with little reward, then players won’t do it. It feels like a waste of time in the long run.
- Doing a world boss for the first time, I didn’t really care about rewards. I enjoyed that they felt so intimidating and huge in comparison… but it does feel rather anti-climactic when you find that it doesn’t contain as much power as it appeared to have.

I’m excited to see what the game will look like after some major tweaks to it.

I’m more concerned about its long term effect, I love a challenge ( when in a team of 5 people I know and trust ) but on this scale it only takes a few people on turrets to either troll or have no idea to kill a whole zerg. Melee ( DPS ) is useless without the support of these people, I also cannot see this being completed on a regular day during my time zone ( Australia ) which makes it a event I could only participate in during my days off. People can defend anet all they want, but it will need to be addressed either way.
I love the concept, but I see three options.
1 Remove the time limit
2 Nerf
3 Rewards when you fail, even if they are lesser % of rarer drops.

The only reason you all failed was because you had no clue what to do.

Its pathetic when anything other than just pressing #1 is considered hardcore!

Casual gamers would rather make money then challenge themselves IMO. I myself like a challenge, but having that many people relying on each others basically invites trolls and people who honestly have no idea. I watched the livestream and was trying to explain while attacking. Still no difference in tactics.

IMO anet already has a patch, they just wanted to test this ‘harder’ version first. If I’m incorrect, the event is dead to the game now, I think all except the anet minions ( The ones who defend anything that anet do ) will agree it needs a tweak.

You essentially killed Tequatl, people will do him once this next few weeks for the achievement then never do him again. You have made him too difficult. A 100+ man zerg just went head to head with him and got him down only 5-10% in 15 minutes. Like I said the idea is amazing, you have just overdone it.

Next thing is the WP stays contested after you fail, moving people further away from even going to do the event. Last but not least, NO LOOT even after 15 minutes of getting your armor smashed.

All in all, it needs a tweak, its not a hardcore gamer event and should not be treated as such.

Sylvari armors, TA and Cultural.

My main is a sylvari guard with TA armor, I love my guard so much I put Twilight on it and soon most likely she will will have Eternity, what annoys me so so so so much is having forced colours on my armor, this is my skin colour bleeding through onto the armor. I hate it, and I have talked to many others who strongly dislike this effect.

My suggestion? put in a tick on/off option for the bleed through effect, I everyday try find a colour combination I’m happy with, but my skin colour ruins it ( blue ). At the same time I see so many people in LA with awesome looking TA heavy armor, the reason they are awesome is because they are not sylvari and can play freely with the colour combinations. Stop the bias against sylvari, end the dictatorship and give us our freedom with what I’m sure would be a simple bit of programming!

Attached image is a example, I have seen this colour combination on a human and it looked amazing, yet on my sylvari it looks somewhat putrid.

I love how you didn’t even trait for Consecrations, your ele camped Ice Bow way too long, didn’t even bother with FGS until the very end of the fight. Your reflects overlapped way too much. You DPS was pretty bad.

And you still did it, even though you did so many things wrong. Thanks for proving to everyone that they should stop whining.

Nothing more I like than a bit of smart aleck before I got to bed. Just a FYI I was running a modified WvW build and the others were running pretty casual builds ( Casual zerkas etc ), we also weren’t on TS/Skype to do proper communications. It really was a showcase of how sloppy you can be and still manage rather easily.

Anet learn from your mistakes, just because a few lucky players were able to beat it without too much hassle does not mean you didn’t stuff up bad for about the 10th ( give or take ) time in a year. Your customers are your players, I would try everything to keep them happy. Coming from me, a hardcore player “One Shotting” was about the laziest and most pathetic answer you could have come up with.

Or it means your camera got into a bad position because of the dome and you couldn’t see correctly. The list is rather long, I am simply pointing out the worst of the worst as some people have probably spent a ton on repairs etc, but there is a lot more then I have stated.

I don’t know who at your office thought of this one shot idea but his name is now “Mr Genius”. Mr Genius: “Make a area where 90% of the stuff in there one shots them”…… This is a very very poor answer for us, weak effort anet. Give us something challenging, not something stupidly annoying, repetitive and god kitten costly. ( I will still complete it due to I HAVE TO TO GET THE GOD kitten MINI!!! << literally the only reason for me.)

All your points are very valid and I support most of your suggestions.
So +1 for what it is worth.

I don’t particularly care about farms since I do not farm- but I get that people who want legendaries or high end MF weapons do.

I also love my Ranger so I can’t agree there- I also love Engi, so I pretty much don’t agree with the whole poor me I’m not a warrior/guardian class whoo hoo

I am a guardian, I miss playing my ranger Problem is I get booted half the time before we even get to the dungeon because of it and it is far less useful in a dungeon then my guard or war. Its the truth, I and a lot of people just want the ranger and a few other boosted so they become viable options to party with, today my party ( not me ) booted a ranger……

These are my views not everyones, feel free to agree/disagree and get a good discussion going, spoken as if I was talking to a dev lol
So as it turns out I was hoping for this game to be brilliant, and it WAS! It had a new fresh feel and look and I just wanted to search every corner of the game, well I did, after that I kept myself entertained for 5 months getting the twilight, then got a Commander tag and moved into WvW for my gaming fun. Occasionally once a month I would get a new 20mins of content for the $10-$50 I had been putting in monthly to support new content and polishing.
Its got to the point now where the game seems so focused on Limited edition items ( GIVE US MONEY FOR LIMITED TIME ONLY ITEMS, NEXT SET OF LIMITED ITEMS OUT NEXT WEEK, THEN YOU CAN GIVE US MORE MONEY!!! ) that you have forgotten to “Polish” the game and seem to not care about its players that just want a challenge, new content is not at all a challenge, neither are the majority of dungeons. Instead I have given the game 3 months before I look elsewhere, just a date to see if things change. A lot of other players I am friends with from GW1 ( They are early day GW1 Players ) have also given the game roughly this amount of time to fix its act before we completely give up hope on something that has so much potentially – Gw2.
I am going to list a few vital bugs that seem to be getting ignored, some of these are not bugs but problems that anet has caused. I’m sure you have heard this all before but thought I would have my say.

Nerfed mal leap/cursed shore.
Why did you just turn off the drops? You essential killed the whole of orr instead of you know….. fixing the problem. Throw in a few champs, make the farmed events fail after 30 mins etc….. Why not? Instead you just turned off the drops now look at the crystalline dust price…. well done Anet clap clap, you killed your lvl 80 endgame zone.

Parties.
I recall this game being very “Work together” based, well thats impossible while I cannot get into dungeons or just a party in general because of a party glitch that has apparently been around for a long time ( I did not experience it till around 3 weeks ago, now “Partying up” is virtually impossible )

WvW
Outmanned? Did you guys pass grade 3 maths? or do they have to outman us 10 to 1 before it turns on? Its useless, free armor repairs? I would rather it gives us +100 to all stats considering the abysmally poor ratio it turns on.

Charged lodestones/Crystalline dust
Why is it they are some of the hardest mats to achieve AND most required in high end skins…. Is this so only the paying, EXTREMELY lucky gamers and CoF P1 players can afford them or was some programmer high at the time?

Here are a few suggestions of mine that I would like, but I cannot speak for the whole game.

HM Dungeons
Yup, Sm, EXP and HM mode for dungeons, throw in a daily chest containing 2 rares for a incentive and by god make it a challenge! Make it brutal and make it so ANY class can get involved instead of the select few that get chosen over others.

Parties
Fixing parties should 100% be your priority, while you’re at it add in a voice menu so we can talk to our party if we all choose to, something I think everyone can benefit from and i’m probably not the first to suggest it. Also a LFG feature thats useful would be awesome, but the website we have got for now is doing fine….

Incentive
Give us a reason to go places, you know orr would be awesome if we actually got drops…. Maybe when you do a event you also get 1-5 random mats according to our level ( 80 gets 1-5 T6 with a small chance of the 1-5 being core/lodestones etc ), not a economy breaking amount I don’t think.

Balancing
Poor rangers < Pretty much sums it up.

There is much much more, you seem so focused on money you seem to be ignoring/delaying the real problems annoying the gamers ( at least the ones I know ) and instead focusing on new content that no one seems to care about just to make money on your limited items. Fix the problems so you can keep the gamers, then give us new content so you can make money.. Basically you should delay any more living failures and fix the game.
I cannot speak for the whole community but these are what I think the devs should be discussing and working on. Sincerely – Tadz
