sidenote regarding all the “safe spot ranging” comments isn’t that the POINT of ranged combat? that you may destroy your target OUTSIDE the immediate reach of his claws/fangs? I mean lets think about this for a moment, if there wasn’t an advantage to ranging an opponent in safety, why would anyone ever buy a rifle, bow or handgun in real life? safespot ranging is boring and slower than straight up fighting something, in exchange for safety. that’s the point of ranged weapons.
No, when ranging you should deal less damage and have less risks during the fight. When we mention ranging from a safespot, you are dealing less damage and have zero risks, as the boss can’t hit you back at all, hence the term “AFK ranging”.

Remove dungeon tokens as a reward for path completion. Add dungeon tokens as a possible drop from trash mobs.
Add a substantially increased chance of dropping a specific precursor as a reward for each path completion.
People will keep skipping mobs to finish the dungeon for the gold reward (since that’s the main reason they do dungeons) + this higher precursor chance you’re suggesting. If anything, this will make people rush even more, so they can complete more paths each day and have higher chances of getting that precursor reward.
When they need tokens, they’ll just farm the starting mobs:
Enter Arah > farm spiders > leave > Enter Arah > farm spider > leave… complete Arah set. Very epic!

I might indeed be mixing up a fractal then but i am prety sure ALL of the 3 fractal where horrible and that we got dredge and cliffside amonst them x.x so i might have caugh the urban one then? Makes sense. I need to reccord my full dungeon runs sometime so that i can actualy remember the full story correctly x.x

HOTW/AC Troll. He’s another one, do the same thing, get him to a wall/corner so you have something to roll into. When he gets up in the air, do a double roll into the wall. Troll does 2 hits on that special so you need to double evade. Done correctly, just like subject alpha, you can do it taking no real damage.
One small correction – I had some fun soloing the HotW Troll a couple of times after the update, and if you put him against the wall, you only need to dodge once. You’ll avoid both hits of his leap attack – the landing on the evade frame and the 2nd hit by standing inside of him after you finished the dodge.

I loved the warrior chat, but as a mesmer main I couldn’t help but notice you got the complete package in that pug: not only you have two mesmer for the run, which is highly inefficient, but one seems to be camping GS (spamming iZerkers) and the other is using Phantasmal Defender…

Hmm… my ranger is my first character and just hit 80 today. I know bearbow is the hallmark of a n00b (and yeah, I leveled halfway as a bearbow). I’m now playing with axes and a lynx in a skirmishing / beast mastery build around bleeds / precision / condition damage, but I know I need a whole new approach if I am going to do any dungeons or fractals.
Any recommendations about what the best build for a new player would be in order to be useful instead of a rangetard in dungeons?
To be honest, I actually expect pugs to safespot it…. in couple of months.
sigh… pew pew from a safe spot. Pugging this will take forever now. And their post in the LFG will be something like: “p1 SPEED RUN exp 7k AP only!!1!”
To be honest I’m a bit disappointed. I was excited after reading about the change and bugged my guildies to do a HotW run. “Come, come! It will be a challenge now!” “People are having trouble getting past it… it will be fun!”. Well, the old troll was a joke, but this isn’t much harder. =/

Neither Cleric nor Magi. Celestial is also a poor choice. You shouldn’t need any boost to your healing power in fractals, even in high levels. I would highly suggest you a) make a zerker ascended set; and b) consider updating your build to something close to 0/30/0/25/15.

But do not take me wrong: a player with a defensive style in mind is welcome and can help the group a lot – if s/he plays a guard. A good guard, preferably build around altruistic healing, is a godsend and helps the group a lot. Therefore, even if it’s your right to play whatever you like, you might consider trying a guard.
No no no! We need less, not more AH guardians. How does AH “helps the group a lot”?

I also find it very difficult to read a conversation when I’m whispering someone. Which of the lines were by me, and which were sent to me? When I quickly read over it, I can’t help but feel that it would be so much easier to read, if it said my name in the text.
So instead of it saying:
“From Mister Anderson To MisterAnderson"
Why not make it say:
“From Mister Anderson From Mad Queen Malafide"
That would make it SO much easier to read!
I imagine they don’t do it the way you suggested because, if you’re whisper chatting with more than one person, it would soon get very messy and confusing to know if you said something to person X or Y.
Instead of having:

Those are really nice advices. We were having quite some trouble with Alphard yesterday, specially due to reflects failing us from time to time. After some bug kicked us out of our instance when we tried to get a pug, we gave up for the night. I might run the path again soon using some of your suggestions. Thanks a lot!

Every time you finish a complete set of Fractals (3 Standard Fractals + 1 Boss) you will receive the daily reward, restricted by account, which is consistent with other dungeon rewards. Each 10 levels of Fractals has it’s own daily reward. So if you played level 1, 11, 21, and 31, you would receive four daily rewards.

Grats, guys! It was very fun watching the stream when I had time. I remember laughing each time everyone got tossed around and (almost) fell at the 1st half of lvl 39 colossus, before you all got used to the timing of the stabilities or dodge on kill. Seeing you get thrown and hang there by a thread was awesome!
Fun aside, you were all very skilled and it was great seeing you tackle the challenges and adjust your tactics as they showed up. Great job!

It doesn’t sound like the GW promised in the manifesto and sets a bad precedent. What will they do in 3 month, when all the hardcore players get the ascended items, get bored and start complaining? Make a new tier again? Will it ever stop?
