GW2 is made by ppl who made GW1. In GW1 ranger was only class using bows. If GW player wants to play archer, he will roll ranger. Is it so kittening hard to understand?
It doesn’t matter what it means in lore. What matter is that, ranger is closest to archer archetype and it’s the only choice for ppl, like me, who always play bowman/archer/marksman/etc.

I don’t mind them being able to burst someone in 2 secs. I don’t mind them having best mobility in game. I DO mind them being able to stop small/medium sized zerg and waste ppls time.
This movie is just one of examples from last few weeks. In this case there are 2 of them, but not long ago 1 thief stopped 10-15 of us in tower for 5 min. We simply didn’t have anough AoE to cover whole floor, and even if we had, I don’t think it’d be enough.
No, I can’t just ignore them, and let them rez some dead mesmer.
No, stealth traps doesn’t work against thief with at least half of brain.
No, “just AoE them noob!” doesn’t work.
Yes, they are very good players. Still, it’s class that allows such things, and no other class gives so big advantage in any other “discipline”. Some are better at some things, but it’s just too much.
I expect nice kitten from thief player, but I don’t care. I made this topic in hope some dev will see it (because sometimes I feel they don’t play the same game). Feel free to discuss, but I don’t plan to respond to don’t make kittenstorm bigger.

But tbh idk what to think about it. I didn’t expect any buffs, honestly. Everything I wanted from balance changes was nerf to some proffs/build that are OP. Seeing how they got buffed… no idea what to say.
I’m going to still play my ranger and it will still be my main. The day I leave ranger, will be day I leave game. I hope it will be because of other reasons than “balance issues”.
They should just replace it with same trait as mes and guard ones – 5sec vigor on crit with 5 sec CD.

Refreshing this topic with another example. This time he was not only annoying but also dangerous to our siege.
He didn’t come back after this video… and we wasted 5 stealth traps in case he did and 10 ppl to guard.
I don’t want opinions. I want only 1 thing: someone from ANet give us short answer if they think it needs fixing or not. Only this, so I know if I should just leave or wait and hope.
If he stood at 1500, he failed not because he wasn’t in melee, but because he needs only 1000, which still gives max dps and also better options to support group.
After few years of hardcore WoW raiding, I’m fully casual here (yes, I do dungs with LB! lol), but ignoring it when your team clearly asks you to do/don’t do sth, is far beyond “playing as I want” imho.
And, as others said, it’s not only ranger issue.
And who cares tbh? I play ranger coz for me it IS hunter/archer type (there is nothing closer to it in GW), and nothing will change it.

The statement “unparalleled archers” refers to their flexibility at range, not their power.
And? Then why do you feel some need to teach ppl? If they rolled ranger to be archers, they will be archers, and will cry for buffs for archer-like builds. Should I also make topic “Ranger doesn’t mean zookeeper”?
Not to mention, ranger class in GW2 was supposed to be 2 classes earlier: marksman and warden – it clearly shows the archery part of it.

If you don’t want +1, you are posting in wrong topic. I play this class for bows, just like many thieves plays their for stealth (while steal is thief class skill).
WvW is closest we have to open world PvP where we can use things we get in PvE. I’m happy with my ascended gear, food and buffs.

Yes, I’m going to play ranger, no matter if they got buffed or not. In worst case scenario I’ll get interested in other MMO that will have better options for archer-like class (tho, other MMO would need to have some other advantages over GW2 first).
Why do people play rangers if they do not want pets?
Because Rangers are mostly associated with archers, and with Aragorn, who did NOT have a pet.

Huh? Actually, in game Gunnars is against Piken and Riverside, and it’s slaughter.
I was worried about it before, but now I see it directly: even if it’s just bug, we actually had a chance to meet those servers. Why? Tiers are so tightly balanced, one tier up or down is already not fun, so how is ANY random system supposed to work?
OP is clearly not a ranger, no ranger in their right mind would say that. I bet there are no devs who actualy play a ranger class, Id like to see them keep a pet alive in pvp or dungeons.
The balance devs should be required to pug as a ranger through a random dungeon each day before they can do anything else in game. We might see some decent PvE patches after that.

I don’t know what I expected from this topic. I, for one, respect AM numbers. Would any of GH or Dzag players just stop playing if we outmanned enemy? Or what, maybe when we saw smaller group during any of matchup, we delegated some forces to stand back to give them fair fight? Stop this BS. I have Kudzu and imho it’s one of the best legendaries. It has nice effects but doesn’t look like toy (twilight/sunrise). The only thing that annoys me is string.

Personally, I like pets. They are nice addon to my character. In GW1 I used pet even in non-pet specs, just to have it around me. The thing that I don’t like about pets in GW2, is they are too good. Yes! Too good! I’d rather do all dmg myself and have pet as some small tool to KD or immobilize enemy, not as 30-40% of my dmg.
Hi. Seeing ANet is interested in WvW, I’d like to start this topic
First quetion: why? Sometimes I spend 1h to get some tower ready, spending money and time, and in reward it becomes my prison – refreshing it is a pain and I can’t always count on others to do it. Is it to save server space or something? If so, how does it work if all get refreshed anyway?
What about other options? Longer duration for superior siege? Longer duration in general? Or maybe siege limit is enough?

And might I ask what’s so different about your keep that enemy shouldn’t have it? It’s just another structure on map and its position makes it harder for them to defend. That’s it. Keeps are meant to be capped and defended.

I support GvG system… but not in WvW. Many players, me included, love WvW for what it is – a dirty game with no rules, where power is power and no one asks if it’s skill or numbers or coverage.
Also, making WvW more depending on guild groups wouldn’t reduce bobbing – opposite, it’d increase it. How do you want PUG players (including players who don’t raid with guild at this time) to fight organized groups if not with numbers?
Personally I think ANet hoped custom arenas will become GW2 GvG, and tbh I also think it should, as they use, just like GW1 GvG, PvP characters and balance. It’s players who decided 10v10 is not enough, maps aren’t good enough and skill balance is better for them in PvE/WvW. Hopefully devs do something about it, coz I’m bored of guild meta in WvW – but for a different reason than you

I like pet too. And? Just because of that there is no reason to don’t have another OPTION. Just because one person likes or dislikes something, it shouldn’t limit all other ppl playing this class.
I learned to love pet classes in WoW, where I could do my normal dmg without thinking about pet and still be happy owner of pet.
Even in GW1 ranger could use pet and still don’t kitten his bow abilities (actually, I wanted pet so much I threw it into standard barrager build lol).
What do you mean? I’m talking about refreshing siege so it doesn’t despawn after 30 mins. As much as it’s not problem with offensive siege, it hurts to keep all the ACs in keep up for whole week.

Tbh I wouldn’t hope for much. Merging piercing arrows with eagle eye or with 20% cd reduction on bows would be great, but I rather expect things like replacing 1 useless trait with another that isn’t any more useful.

I think this is actually really important, because you get a lot of people who say that they feel perfectly fine and useful on their rangers because they haven’t played anything else and don’t have the perspective necessary to see how much less effective they are. You go into a dungeon, you do do damage that seems pretty good by your own metrics, and get excited when you help out your team with healing spring. What you can’t really see is how much more everybody else is doing. How much less they have to sacrifice to be on par or exceed what you can offer.
Agree, but there is also opposite thing: ppl who never learned to play ranger and compare it to classes they know better or that are easier to play. I’m not saying ranger is “fine”, but it surely isn’t as broken, as some ppl say.
Ranger changes look cool, but I still miss 1 very important thing: Longbow users have to choose 2 of 3 Marksman traits (Piercing Arrows, Eagle EyE, Remorseless). No other weapon has such problem – when you want to spec fully into weapon, you always can pick all related traits. I think it’s REALLY needed to either merge 2 of those traits, or move one of them to 1 tier so we can pick them all.
It alls comes down to personal choices..You dont know how the meta will evolve since we are just geussing now..You can stop playing Ranger,i wont.I wont cause i really like to test a support build,i really want to test Longbow,i really want to test Axe 4,i really want to test new traits,i really want to test spirits…All these things were bad for a long time…

Nope. Mine are as weak as they always were.
One more thing bow rangers really need: merge Piercing Arrows with ANY other bow trait – 20% CD reduction or Eagle Eye, or at least add something more to this trait.
One of the reasons why the Ranger and pet are built the way that they are, is because if we gave the ranger all the power, then the pet would have to be useless and vestigial, or everyone would claim rangers are OP. That’s one of the core reasons we can’t just increase pet attribute numbers. Without a method for avoiding damage, it also means your pet takes 4 hits in dungeons instead of only 2 or 3, so it doesn’t really solve the problem.
We have WvW reps in the balance meeting as well, so I’ll be sure to poke and prod them about ranger pets in zerg battles to get their opinions. Personally I tend to do well keeping a pet non-hostile until the zergs actually clash – then switching him to hostile and managing his target. Otherwise when I try to shoot some arrows at somebody, Cuddles the Black Widow decides it is time to charge into battle. I really don’t feel like this is a bad solution. While most people may resist it, if you want your pet to charge the front line and lead the attack, consider grabbing up the signet that makes your pet invulnerable for a few seconds.@Swagg – that’s a lovely chart
Speaking about WvW… what about siege? I love my LB there, but seeing my pet just standing near me, wasting all those precious numbers (even when not specced into BM) is painful. As perma stow is not an option, have you considered some kind of “support pets”? You know, things that, instead of making damage, would pop some buffs for party (red moa on passive for it’s F2 is what I mean, but still too big loss in dmg). I believe there are other uses for such pets, maybe even as alternative to “normal ones” for ppl who, like me, plasy ranger mostly for his weapon skills.
And btw. it’s nice to see someone speaking to us If I were dev I’d be afraid to post on professions forums xD

So in short now: what @up said + personally I’d just ignore them (can easily run as ranger), as they are poor loosers abusing broken mechanic. Also, if they aren’t hidding in tower or sth, they are harmless.
+ GS 4. when you expect back stab, followed with 3 -> 5 -> 2.
Also, 6 guys finished by 2 thieves means those 6 were bad. It’s normal they couldn’t kill thieves, but dying to them is fail. You always rez faster than someone is finishing – and I don’t think they used quickness.

I’m male (and rather “manly” one in matters of look). I have Kudzu and I think it’s beautiful. Exactly this word. When you have it in hands, there are little orbs (or leaves? Not sure) flying from it, like with the wind. It’s just pretty. Not crappy, plastic, gigantic weapon that looks like toy.
About projectiles: they are gold and have unique sound. After shoot, there is something, like petals, falling from the way where arrow flied.
Btw. what’s wrong with flowers? Plant is plant. I don’t see ppl hating on sylvari…
Sometimes I wonder, why don’t ppl eat hamsters alive and kill kittens, just becausethey are too “cute and girly” for them.
On the other hand I have to agree on The Dreamer – as much as I like skin, I couldn’t stand shooting unicorns.

Don’t do that, then? Nobody is asking or forcing you to..it’s not even particularly effective.
You’re trying to fight the game design and mechanics just to do something that nobody really cares about.
The siege you dro kitten upposed to be disposable and temporary…permanent upgrades to structures are meant to happen through the upgrade system. Allowing your siege to last hours without interaction allows you to override/bypass the normal upgrade system.
Also, the devs have no desire to promote keep camping. Nor do the vast majority of players….if they take the time to think it through. If sitting in keeps waiting becomes the best/effective/only way to defend…. everybody loses.
I do it because I like to do things I feel are helping with winning.
Idk where you play, but even in my T7 it’s normal to have some siege always ready. Even if server X had ppl already in keep (T3 one) and server Y attacked it with 3-4 superior rams, it’s not enough time to set up proper siege. Hell, it’s normal to cap towers/keeps with full siege, the ones without are just karma farm. Unless I have official Dev response, saying siege is not meant to be in keep before it gets attacked, I’ll never belive it.
Also, siege costs badges and you use supplies from camp for it. Upgrades cost money and it eats supplies from tower/keep. I don’t see “overriding/bypassing”, or any other conflict of interests here.
The most important question is: do we get accbound wxp with it or not?
Imo it’d be nice if one of them answered here. Not about “why” or “when”, but just make a post to show they are reading this – maybe not listening, but at least reading.
Good post, but don’t get your hopes up. I’m playing ranger since betas (or since GW1 if it matters) and most important thing I learned from it, is to kitten forums. Ppl can only moan here. Trying to change it is just bad for your brain :P
But +1 about sharing builds. I’m visiting this forum only to check if someone found something I missed after balance (and I belive I’m not only one). Stopping sharing will leave only one kind of topics on this forum…

Simple question: most hackers are invisible. How to report them?
At the moment I’m just sending tickets with time, place and description. It helped in past when there was invisible engi in our garri. But not sure now, as last time (before 15th, so no excuse with them being busy) I didn’t get any response, and I’m pretty sure I saw that cheater some time later (can’t confirm it was same one ofc).

Ok, I’ll answer after all:
How am I supposed to “hit where thay are, not where they were”? They can go ANY way, it’s not corner, and even if it was, they could have ran past me before I notcied.
They are not dangerous to us? SM was wooden and it got opened by treb. We took them down and repaired wall. Before it they got in. If they rezzed any dead mesmer (and I don’t have map with them all marked, nor the ppl to camp them all), they could cap SM in 2 min.
How is siege on outer walls useless? What about trebs to hit red keep or counter anza trebs? Normally countering them takes more than 2 asura thieves…
And as I said, I stared recording later. When there was only 2 of us, they fought… ofc like thieves – killed guy who was with me in fast combo. I’m rather tanky, so I survived. But they ARE danger to whole EB population, because they can take spawning ppl going through SM to commander 1 by 1. They can do it in field too, but there ppl can expect them – who’d expect to be ganked in own keep?
I know about abilities tracking stealthed thieves (the best one imho is LB 2, coz it has long cast).
Maybe I’m not some pro, but I fought many thieves as ranger (find “Why not Ranger?” on YT). As I said, I understand it’s class with good mobility and imba burst. The only thing imo is totally OP is stealth. The only thing that stopes it from being nerfed, is fact it doesn’t kill ppl. It’s annoying and OP in long-term tactics – things ANet can’t understand for some reason.
And yes, I know thief traits and skills. I play MMOs for 10 years, and I learned to test other classes before saying anything about them.
