go play runescape where you lose everything on death that looks like it will make you happy. this game is for fun I don’t see why you want harsh penalties for getting killed
Heh, imagine GW2 with old RS death mechanics. You die you lose all but 3 of your items. Catch is bloodstone dust is prioritized above your exotic gear because it’s ascended…..and you only keep 3 of them
Hey all,
Was trying out f.lux for the first time, and noticed it it appeared to be not working for Guild Wars 2. I was searching around and it seemed most users didn’t have a problem, but I came across a blog that said f.lux didn’t work with fullscreen settings and needed another app to work. However the blog also stated that app could test positive on strict anti-cheat detection.
Hey I’m back, finished Blobs, Schmobs and High Stakes Gambler. Just posting strategies I used and sort of worked for me.
For Blows, Schmobs, I used Warrior rifle and sword/shield. I did not run around in circles, but I stayed far away and strafed side to side quickly, by holding down my left strafe key and quickly tapping my right strafe key. This way the AI has a very low chance to hit you. At 30% hp I popped Endure Pain, used Killshot, knocked ooze to the back and then finished off with my sword/shield.
For High Stakes Gambler I used my thief with sword/pistol on Deadeye Dunwell and pretty much spammed pistol whip. At the start I’d use steal to teleport to him, let him attack me first and then pistol whip to interrupt. After the first interrupt I used Thieves Guild and continued to spam pistol whip. If he teleported away I’d shadowstep to him or if he was charging up his shot I’d use Scorpion Wire to interrupt and pull him back.
Thanks for the tips! Unfortunately, necro is the only class I haven’t leveled to 80. As for Liadri, I’m still trying to figure out whats the best strategy. It only took me 3 tries to kill her the first time, however ever since I haven’t been close. Was wondering why people hated Liadri after my first kill, now I know.
Hey, was wondering if I could get some tips for the more difficult achievements since Dulfy hasn’t posted a guide yet.
The ones I’m having trouble with are:
- Blobs, Schmobs
- High Stakes Gambler
- Light Up the Darknest
I’m open to any tips for any of the classes. I’ve tried to look up a guide for the Blobs achievement, but it seems the lesser oozes spawn differently. Also would like to know what fight is easiest with the High Stakes Gambler.
Well they’ve been added non-gemstore items. They’ve added ascended armor sets recently, and usually during the LS season they added an achievement meta skin and skins from that LS section (Scarlet’s rifles, halo/horns). Also, Tequatl and Triple Wurm minipets/ascended themed gear. Additionally, they’re adding 2 sets from weapons when WvW season 2 ends(one with effects and one without).
Is there a free version for win7? Last time I checked I could only find the free version for win xp/2000. Might be interesting to play with a controller.
If you want a decent dirt cheap mouse, the E-Blue Cobras are pretty good. 2 thumb buttons and a dpi changer that can also work as a physical button to quickly change sensitivity. Only probably was that it was harder to aim with in Planetside 2, but it wasn’t a problem in every other game I’ve played. Also the buttons on the red version that I had gotten, lost their “click” after about 1500 hours of game time, however my blue version (that I had gotten before the red) still works quite nicely. Guess it might be hit or miss with these, but hey, 10 bucks.
Personally I don’t like skills on my mice and only have dodge and target on my thumb buttons. If you feel like you need a fancy mouse with lots of buttons to map all you skills out, you could try using esdf instead of wasd for extra buttons.
Timer appears to be up to date for me. Pretty good ui, some parts a little confusing like color-coating of the text(what does the red text mean?).
Maybe for the current ongoing events have a green arrow pointing at the event, have “ongoing” in green, or have a highlight/trim around the box. Personally, the timer counting up for the current events confused me at first.
Could also change the text color(e.q. red means super hc bosses like teq, karka and triple wurm).
Also I’d suggest hiding the TBD events
You might need a Chinese citizenship to be able to sign up for China’s GW2. I remember they sometimes require citizen ID code similar to the U.S.’s SSN to sign up for games such as Final Combat(TF2 ripoff).
A season is like 7 weeks. Think we’re on the 4th week. China release is on May 15th. If we follow the 2 week pattern of updates, the next LS update could be on the 27th of May.
(edited by TheGaryTh.1649)
LS is going to be sync’d up with China. Pretty much until after WvW season just like last season.
In my opinion, GW2 is probably one of the most least grindy game I’ve been playing. Sure, GW2 has repetitive moments, however you have options on how to go about doing things. GW2 isn’t really a super grindy game, as you can get things relatively fast. Ascended gear is fairly easy to get and legendaries are completely all visuals and not needed.
When comparing GW2 to real grindy games, GW2 is blown out of the water. For example, it only takes like a month to reach end-game stuff in GW2, however in older games like Runescape after a year you’d only reach halfway to end-game things. I’d even say some fps like CoD and BF4 are more grindy due to their rank up systems and how much more repetitive it is.
TTS is one of the bigger NA guilds that does it regularly. Here is their forum thread, not sure if they’re still recruiting.
Try to get in/become friends with someone in a Tequatl and/or Triple Wurm killing guild. Then ask nicely for a ferry 1-2 hours before the event. Then make sure you’re doing a specific role for the event.
I previously believed Teqautl would be a lot more difficult after the ferocity nerf, however with how ferocity scales now, players do more crit damage in lower level areas, however 80 areas are more difficult, specifically Fractals.
Edit: Can’t crit teq but can crit mobs, easier defense, also was thinking about triple wurm

Seems that there’s something going on, whether it’s a tag limit or that the Champs scale rediculously high with more people so that you have to do an incredible amount of damage to tag them. Like, for example, when doing Claw of Jormag sometimes I’ll get champ bags and sometimes not even if I feel I’ve done a more than reasonable amount of damage to a certain champ.
Thought the champs in that event don’t drop loot and Jormag doesn’t drop a bag, but instead a chest and a floaty chest if you haven’t completed it for the day and participated in the event.
laptops tend to have bad graphics cards don’t they?
Most laptops have integrated graphics that comes with their cpu or apu. GW2 isn’t super graphic intensive. Anytime where you have 100+ players in an area in whatever game you’d probably get worse frames. GPUs help more with detailed environments and effects, but it’s the CPU that has to calculate players, mobs and skills.
There probably isn’t a tag limit. Indigo explained it pretty well. We also saw that there wasn’t a tag limit during the destruction of LA and pre-patch players found it extremely beneficial to zerg the watchwork knights to receive alot of loot until they added an artificial tag limit through the light buff(only gave out 50 buffs to players).
Sadly, most of the new traits didn’t really add much to builds. For the most part I’d still prefer the older grandmaster traits over the new ones. Most of the newer ones just aren’t too useful imo.
Also, OP what class builds are you looking for?
I don’t think much content is released during WvW seasons, the feature patch being the exception. Heard of rumors of nothing new until after China release, however that’s being done by a different company.
After all this is all about efficiency.
To lots of players out there, it’s all about fun and enjoyment and who gives a kitten about maximum efficiency. When parts of the game become all about maximum speed and efficiency to me, then the whole thing starts becoming too much like a job, instead of an enjoyable game.
I disagree, many find obtaining efficiency via tweaking their builds and matching up with different combinations very enjoyable and more engaging. I consider gaming a hobby and it allows people focus on something other than their day-to-day lives. Improving efficiency helps them focus. Sort of similar to people who add additions to their cars, not to make it more practical, but to be more efficient in mileage, speed and/or sound.
Back on OP’s topic, sure it may be frustrating that most groups require certain gear/classes, however many have found that these combinations of classes and gear often makes the run more enjoyable since they’ve experienced that with a party of similar setups, they either make it or break it, and is more reliable rather than frustrating.
And please remember to read the lfg notes, if they are looking for specific gear/classes, don’t be surprised when you get a kick if you don’t meet their requirements.
Purplish black with rose pink squiggly things
I wouldn’t mind if certain fractals/dungeons were changed so that zerk tactics like skip stack n kill don’t work, as in If some parts of fractals became more puzzle-like and incorporated mini JP’s, and mobs that HAD to be killed to open/access the next area.
mini jps/non-stacking strats like the harpy fractal?
Ranger is good in small groups in WvW and ok in pve for their spirit and spring
Necro is good at anything pvp but not great in pve because of how conditions work
Thief’s design doesn’t fit with pve too well(stealth and then have heavy hits)
Engineer requires more work to play as effectively
Eles/War/Guard/Mes simply bring more support while maintaining high physical damage with a small bit of conditions. They are also easier to play.
Ok guys… seriously… let’s get some D&D rules straight here. This is ridiculous.
Light armor wearing folks can’t wield heavy weapons like great axes, hammers, or two-handed swords. They would use daggers, short swords, swords, staves, books, or other lightweight magic-based weaponry.
Medium armor wearing folks can’t wield heavy weapons like light armor folks. They would also NOT wear staves, or other magic-based weaponry that is meant for cloth wearing folks. They would use daggers, short swords, swords, short bows, crossbows, and small shields.
Heavy armor wearing folks can’t wield staves, or magic-based weaponry (the only exception to this is the traditional paladin). They would also traditionally not wield daggers. They would use short swords, swords, two-handed swords, maces, hammers, axes, great axes, pikes (polearms, tridents, halberd, etc), small and large shields, longbow, and crossbow.
The reason it is segregated like that is because of the armor class. A cloth wearer doesn’t need a shield because they can summon magic barriers. A medium wearer doesn’t need magic-based weaponry because they rely on small, quick weapons and stealth. A heavy wearer doesn’t need magic barriers because they wear very hard armor.
But the current sets can pretty much use all of the weapons. Mesmers and Rangers can both use 2h greatswords and Guardian can use a staff and focus. :c
My main problem with GW2 is the lack of content.
It’s been a year and a half since release and we’re essentially playing the exact same game.
Does LS not count as content? Sure it’s only temporary, however I found that the LS updates every 2 weeks seemed like more content overall, compared with any other mmos. Also what about Teqautl, Triple Wurm, EOTM, and pvp revamp? Pretty sure these are fairly large bits of content added, on top of LS.
Gem store really isn’t a cash shop, as you can convert in-game gold for gems and an 800 gem armor set is about 70g-75g atm, a little more than half the cost of cultural armor. I also don’t feel that the best skins are gem store only, as mixing and matching in-game armors can produce a unique and appealing set.
I just see the skins in the gem store as more of souvenirs of LS or skins that don’t quite look like they belong in the game, but add more flair choices to players(looking at you, Zodiac armor).
You guys are missing OP’s question. You can’t make an infusion slot, however you can purchase/craft ascended gear and it will already come with an infusion slot.
Purchase ascended trinkets with laurels, guild commendations and pristine fractal relics. I suggest using guild commendations for earrings, laurels for utility slot amulets(allows you to add AR or % boosts towards karma gain or magic find and pristine fractal relics for rings or get a ring drop in fractals.
Craft ascended weapons/armor and mystic forge rings and some backpieces to make infused rings/backpieces.
The wiki has a nice chart on how much damage you take per agony tick at which levels.
(edited by TheGaryTh.1649)
Guardian mediation builds would literally be do as much damage/healing as fast as you can press the button.
No, thanks
Say no to URF mode

Not sure if anyone else noticed, but in non-level 80 dungeons crit damage seems like it scales higher now. I have run all explorable paths of ac and cm, and the crit damage is definitely higher. I feel that with a group with high crit damage are able to down bosses 25% faster now.
So, no berserker builds aren’t dead, and probably will be more prevalent due to the higher crit scaling in dungeons.
That your personal experience, how am I suppose to know your own personal experience? From my experience, the cities are at a fairly normal population, however, on my current server that has been an increase in non-megaserver zones such as Orr simply because the server has a decent PvE playbase.
Didn’t state that they did add it either. Anyways, just because there is an influx of people doesn’t necessarily mean they rolled out megaservers for cities yet. I’m sure there are an additional influx of people simply because it’s patch day and many players and people who have taken breaks are interested to see what ANet has done to the game. Also people are probably in cities, either buying or selling items affected by the patch, retraiting, looking at new skills and figuring out the new wardrobe
Feature patch notes doesn’t state anything about implementing megaservers in cities today. I am just reciting fact from a trustable source.
“This new system will first be enabled in the Heart of the Mists and then progressively rolled out to the rest of the open world, starting with the less populated areas.
The order as well as the speed of the rollout may differ from what was previously announced in the original blog post, as we are adjusting our plans after further testing. It might continue to evolve during the process as we collect data and adjust accordingly".
Megaservers have been added to the Heart of the Mist and nothing else so far.
Sure Guardian is the most stable and balanced class atm. However it just feels like the other classes get new shiny toys and Guardian gets Grandma’s kitted sweater. Thing is, the new changes don’t change much up for the Guardian, as the new Grandmaster traits don’t feel like they’re worth traiting for.
As long as burning work as it currently does, and Guardian don’t get any other conditions dots, there is no reason to ever use a condition build. Communal Defence sound quite interesting, except you have to go down the Valor tree. Force of Will sounds nice, but isn’t needed and I’d rather take either of the other Grandmasters.
With streaming you have to be connected to the pc through your network. So you’d probably only be able to stream from your pc from your pc’s network. Probably wouldn’t be able to play any pc game outside your network, probably easier to sit at your pc to play any pc game.
That being said, this little dinky thing looks pretty cool. Wonder what kinda wizardry they put in it to be able to play select pc games.
No, looking at the specs…. 2GB of RAM and only 16 GB of flash memory. Also an Android OS. GW2 has trouble just running their Mac clients and doesn’t even have a Linux client.
Edit: GW2 also doesn’t even have controller support for pc
Until recently, I’ve never used any of the Norn racial skills. They’re not bad, but they only helpful in specific situations. The problem I have with them, is the lack of skill diversity. All of the elites are transform skill and all of the utilities are summon pet skills. Both of these skills types are very situational, and mainly playing Guardian, I’m already loaded with never used summon pet skills.
Confusion: very few classes have access to this condition aside from mesmers and perplexity runes.
CC: thief has an astounding amount of teleport, stealth and endurance related traits, and allows them to be able to dodge more often than any other class.
This isn’t just about thieves, as mesmer and norns can be quite stealthy. I just happened to use thieves as an example and my amusement. Also it’s a suggestion to change gameplay mechanics and not balance a specific class.
Edit: Wouldn’t be totally useless vs guardians, F1 procs every 3-4 attacks for 1 second of burning and without condition duration the longest single burning duration is 5 seconds. Hide in Shadows, probably the most used pvp thief healing skill already removes burning and other conditions,
(edited by TheGaryTh.1649)
Been running around in WvW since the season started, and encountered my fair share of pesky hit-and-run thieves. Been thinking, what counters thieves and their stealth besides heavy condition builds(we all know the way to play the game is berserker warrior).
So instead of just having the Stealth Disruptor Trap that nobody ever uses, how about if spies thieves show up when they’re stealthed and on fire?
Interesting idea, however if they did implement this and made it so that it wasn’t a utility infusion, you could possibly have 14 of these infusions equiped (6 on armor, 6 on trinkets, 2 on weapon) resulting in a whopping 70% cd reduction not counting any trait related cds reductions.
How about some of those 4 stat combos like the ones we already have for trinkets (e.g. Berserker + Vitality)
I agree Shatterer should be revamped, however I don’t think it should be as difficult as Teqautl or Triple Wurms. I feel that Jormag is currently good at where its at, having multi-stages and is somewhat challenging to a beginner. With their current rewards, I really feel that the fight wouldn’t be worthwhile if it was made as difficult as Tequatl.
The problem with hardcore events like Teqautl and Triple Wurm is that the majority of players don’t think it’s fun to wait hours at an attempt at a world event and most servers, except maybe the most populated servers don’t get these bosses done regularly, so it just creates a bigger community divide between hardcore players with their specific Tequatl/Wurm killing guilds and the more casual players.

Draconic armor looks kind of like a mage type armor. If you check the wiki you can view most of the armor sets on all of the races. (The bottom of the page)
Doubt it. I’m not sure of what engine GW2 uses and its capabilities, but it certainly is not the Creation engine like Skyrim or the Source engine. HUD mods could be a possibility, however game modding in mmos or any multiplayer games are very rare.
Hey everybody,
I been having some game crashing problems lately, where my crash would crash randomly. When it crashes, the error report comes up. What’s weird however, is that I am able to ignore the tab, and continue playing, with just a looping sound. I am still able to use skills, and chat with the environment and am even able to switch zones. Does anyone know if this is a problem on my end that I can fix, or is there nothing I can do?
I thought this was a good idea, I’d hope Anet would allow us to upgrade these things, since stones are almost completely useless after getting your first character to 80. Although Anet might lose sales if they implemented it, I feel it’d keep more players around since it wouldn’t feel like you were behind a paywall to customize your armors using other armors you already had.
I think it’d work if it required like 3-10 stones among other things to upgrade to crystals.
