I suggest that you change the Deadeye’s main rifle skills to make it easier for players at a glance to distinguish whether they are using the Main Skills and the Kneel skills.

I have a picture photoshopped for the suggestion.

Hope its useful.

Have to thank a reddit poster for bringing this up, but I decided to go a little farther with this suggestion.

I think the art is great, but there is a bit of a problem that can happen when it comes to recognizing and distinguishing between the Deadeye’s Normal Rife Skills and the Kneel Skills. Especially if you want to quickly glance at your weapon skills to have an easier time recognizing when you are using one side of the rifle skills or the other.

Hope it’s useful feedback.

Almost 5 years, still no swimsuits

TheMaskedGamer.5708

I know its a bit of an old topic, but I can’t help but bring this up for this summer. Especially since summer could’ve been an excellent time to be selling swimsuits for our characters to wear for the summer heat.

Almost 5 years, 1 expansion, still no swimsuits for us to wear. Twisting the knife on this issue, we still can’t even dye our undergarments. Please Anet, answer this prayer.

Could you at least give us an update on this? If its even on the table or not? A word out for this would be appreciated.

I was wondering if there was a way to either attain or find HD images of the profession selection backgrounds? (Of course without the icons, letters and character blocking the way.)

I just wish to attain for just doing my usual photoshop projects. Can’t seem to find anything in that regard on the web or in places like the GW2 wiki and such. Hope anyone can help.

[Concept] Tropical Borderland

How about you make the steams fast paths if you control the currents on the map. And if you do not they become hard to move though. So not deep water but water as in just enofe to help or make harder to get though. I am thinking holding the month of the steam or just the start point would make it neutral for you but if you hold both the month and the start point it becomes a fast part. (this part of the ideal may need work)
But the ideal is to send in a team to cap the month of the steam to let your team push deep and fast into the other teams land to fast cap there side of the map when they may not be there. At the same time it means ppl must def these points to some level.
Making romeing groups key to this map.

As for the main body of water have them more swap like some deep parts but mostly not. Make these the shrine to cap and hold for blood lust. So we will need 2 more body’s of water and even it out more.

That’s a rather brilliant idea. Making use of the environment to your advantage.

While I’m glad some people are enjoying the discussion, let me just make some clarifications with with this idea

Just because its Tropical, it doesn’t necessarily have to be tied to underwater combat. We can have rivers, we can have small, shallow lakes, but I don’t wish to add underwater elements within the mainland. The surrounding water could be an exception, but I wouldn’t think it would be efficient to swim all around the island. There could be waterfalls, and some elevation within the map, but nothing specifically tied to underwater for now. If UC is fixed by the time of the next expansion or update, then maybe, but this is just an idea for a tropical mainland themed borderland.

I do think adding a volcano can be a cool idea to better differentiate the other borderlands from a thematic standpoint. And the one team (possibly green team) would have their main base of operations near the volcano inland, while the others come from opposite ends of the shore.

[Concept] Tropical Borderland

TheMaskedGamer.5708

Now as I wait for announcements for WvW Improvements and the announcement of the next expansion I came up with a very basic concept for a possible future borderland. We got Alpine and now Desert. Now to me what I think is left and may be a good idea if Anet may consider is a tropical themed Borderland.

I’m not sure if its being discussed or if its something mentioned before, but if not, then its be the best time to maybe throw this idea in the air for further discussion. Now I am not a map designer and I’m no expert when it comes to designing mechanics tied to the map, but I just want to make a really rough drawing of how a tropical themed borderland could look like.

The main idea would be that the starting areas for each server is going to be a large marine craft, like a pirate ship of some sorts. The map could be lush with palm trees and a few tropical plants and trees within. The island has a large coast around it with sandy beaches all around. The island also has rivers that are connected to one anther that divided the island into sections. There can be a few lakes within and maybe small sandy areas that can serve as flat areas for battle if necessary. In the center of the island maybe a large ancient temple that can be used for some type of map mechanic.

I have the rough drawing here. If anyone wants to discuss the idea, please feel free to comment down below.

Sadly, you don’t seem to learn their special moves after you defeat them. I’ve managed to beat 4 of them so far, but I don’t seem to unlock the special moves. The achievement and the moves seem stuck and remain unobtainable as of today. Please fix soon.

I have purchased the Marriner’s Horn a very long time ago and I enjoy playing it every once in a while, but it currently has a very nasty bug.

I play notes and it can last as long as I can hold it, but whenever I wish to press the next note, there is an instance where it skips the audio and makes it sound like you pressed the same button twice in a row when it isn’t the case. It can happen multiple times in a row if I press another note afterwards and so on, making the idea of playing the horn precisely almost impossible. Its easy to test the bug, just play and hold a note, then go press another and next.

Hope you can fix it soon.

Account Bound Guild Weapons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheMaskedGamer.5708

TheMaskedGamer.5708

Have you tried crafting with the weapon in the bank? Items for crafting do not need to be in the actual inventory of the character doing the craft. They just need to be in your bank. I don’t think soulbinding makes a difference for that.

If something is soulbound, only that character can use it in whatever means. Including crafting. Thats how I also found out about that detail too.

Account Bound Guild Weapons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheMaskedGamer.5708

TheMaskedGamer.5708

I just had the unfortunate moment of discovering that Guild Weapons that you purchase are soulbound to the character. Why is this even a thing?

Reason why I’m complaining is that I was collecting commendations to get myself some weapons in order to use them to craft the Shimmering and Tenebrous versions of them. My case being 2 pistols for each one. Now I was doing my Missions to get these and I did. However, I wasn’t aware that the weapons you purchase were soulbound after being acquired. I bought them with the wrong character.

Now I have spent gold and commendations on weapons that my other character can’t use to craft these weapons. I expected these weapons to be account bound and soulbound when you actually equip them on a specific character, not just outright soulbound it.

I don’t see the point of having these weapons being immediately soulbound when purchased when they are used as crafting materials for another set of weapons. Could you please have it so Guild Weapons are account bound instead?

Hope you can consider my points in here.

If you wanted a Refuge game, try playing more single player games, or much simpler games. This IS an MMO, ya know?

Try reading… I’ve already responded to your totally unoriginal “this is an MMO” response… 3 times in this thread alone.

Oh… but I do play SP games… occasionally. They don’t offer me as much bang for my buck and aren’t nearly as entertaining.

BTW, If you have a Guild Hall for only 3 people, how in the world did you get it in the first place? You would need a little more than 3 players to defeat all the enemies in there before you obtain it.

No group wants to have you if you are not the right class and don´t have fully ascended gear.

This game is no different than WoW now.

Step 1: NEVER join PUG groups. They are toxic as always.
Step 2: Find a Guild that can help you so you can have fun in there. And believe me, Guilds would want new members all the time.

TheMaskedGamer.5708

I am a huge GW2 fan – I’ve brought many people to the game and have been playing since beta, but the reasons I’ve had to come back to this game between every other MMO are pretty much gone.

I’ve played every major MMO from it’s launch through it’s content at launch. Some games (SWTOR, for instance) I get done with all available content before they’ve even finished the intended starting content, so I leave… and I don’t come back. Ever. Other games take a while longer (like WoW expansions, which I stopped buying after Cataclysm or Rift), but when I left, I left. It was done. Finished. Over. GW2 has been my mainstay since it’s launch and, sadly, it won’t be for much longer due to the fact that I can no longer experience all it’s content without being in a guild. A big guild, at that.

The primary reason I kept coming back to GW2 was that I could see all of it’s content without having to deal with people (I’m always a guild/raid leader in other games and that just wears me down) and still be as relevant as I was when I started a break – sometimes a couple of weeks, sometimes a couple of months; I knew the same great game would be waiting for me when I came back. And I put a lot of hard-earned cash into this game because I loved it so much and it earned it.

That has changed and this is why:
https://goo.gl/ZXBiva
I made a little spreadsheet of the required materials just for Resotration 1-affiliated builds in the Guild Hall. This isn’t nearly a quarter of the materials needed to get to the actual content like Weaponsmith 2’s, which require completion of nearly all builds in restoration 2 and a guild level of 40.

So, basically, not only can my small guild not even claim it’s own Guild Hall with it’s 2 or 3 people (family – pretty much the only people I can stand any more), but we have to get to guild level 40 and get an insane amount of materials – like completely impossible within the expected lifetime of this game (my kids will be through college before I was able to grind out all materials)- in order to fully experience the game.

I’m done.
I’ll play until I leave (again) for another game, but this time, I’ll have a WHOLE LOT LESS reason to come back. Right now, the MMO field is pretty sparse and dry, so I’m good for a while…. But I’m extremely disappointed that my refuge game is now just another game in a pile of grindy games that require I pretend to like other people. I just won’t do it. Unlike some people, I’m not a pretender… I really am incapable of feigning interest any more.

This game was advertised as being something for those who don’t like other MMOs.

Because its slightly different from other MMOs. The game shares some similarities, even small ones, with other ones out there. You can’t expect every game of the same genre to not have similarities with other games.

Raids-the final nail in the GW coffin for me

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

TheMaskedGamer.5708

You know you don’t have to raid right?

I’m not interested in raiding at all. The fact they’ve added a carrot of double gold and XP just to get people to play them is telling me that they know how bad/ill thought out they are.

Sure some people will love them, there will always be people happy with anything you do. Most of HoT has been a disappointment to me. At this point if ANet do another Xpac for GW2, I’ll probably not buy it unless it’s way more content at launch than HoT, and around half the price, but I’m getting off track here.

If you don’t like raids don’t do them. If you want to and don’t have the gear, welcome to raiding in every MMO ever.

Agreed. Raids are one of the areas they could have made ArenaNet flavor and decided to eschew the idea and make them like other games. It’s just hard content for hard content’s sake. I am cool with that as this game was really lacking difficult, instanced content. That being said, they should have utilized the same basic ideas they used with Fractals to teach people how to do it. More people would be inclined that way to do them.

If they were to look at their metrics later on and find that people weren’t doing the raids even after they introduced new ones, then they would realize that the content wasn’t all that compelling. Then they could relook at how they design them to make them more engaging. I’m trying to use keywords that only marketing types like to speak in so that they understand what I’m saying :P

Well there is a simple way to learn to Raid. Its called “Trial and Error” or simply “Playing it” You don’t need a tutorial for this content.

TheMaskedGamer.5708

Regardless of what raids could have been or should or whatever academic discussion … if you ignore they are there because you don’t like them, it won’t affect the things you like about the game.

I find it interesting that they nerfed dungeon rewards to get people all playing the same content but didn’t introduce a system for raids that helped to teach the majority of players who aren’t skilled enough to do raids how to raid like the Fractals do by easing you into the content.

Sure they did, it’s called Dungeons.

But they killed the rewards from Dungeons. So new players will probably never do them past story mode, as people will probably get groups for them to unlock the PvP tracks.

But riddle me this, Raid’s are completely different to Dungeons. one is 5 the other 10 player content. also the fights in Raids are nothing like fights in Dungeons. You really can’t compare them.

You can still do Dungeons to get all the Armor Skins that you don’t have. At least , that now why I’m doing it.

Pretty sure “taking everything we love about GW and making it better” wasn’t meant to be “put gear treadmill and gear check in the game and go against everything it ever stood for”. You’ll probably say there’s already gear check but the difference is gear check has always come from players but now it comes from Anet. And FoTM doesn’t count cause you can play plenty of levels without AR. People talk to me like I’m some peasant for not crafting full ascended armor and spending my money on what I actually like, as if parking alts in Malchor’s or running around Gendarran for soft wood is so heroic and fun. I farmed FoW sets for my GW characters because all I needed was my build and skill now it’s just my gear that matters. I farmed them because I wanted/liked them , not because they offered stat advantage. In fact that’s exactly the thing I loved about GW. It introduced me to online gaming and was precious to me because of it’s lack of lvl grind, gear grind and fetch quests but it’s become another “insert mmo here” title. I don’t even wanna call it Guild Wars 2 anymore. I know typing this doesn’t matter the people who cared about what GW was probably aren’t even at Anet anymore.
You could’ve made challenging raids without gear requirement. You could’ve put the player in a transformation while in raid or simply using the system you use for sPvP limit their stats but I guess it’s better to ramp up the ascended cost, nerf ascended drops, set gear requirement and wait for the gems to gold. I must be the one naive. I must be in the minority to think happy players would spend more money in your gem store willingly instead of being forced. I guess I have to go back and stand in empty outposts in GW since GW2 wants to cater to any other mmo community except it’s own. It was an inspired and unique game by ex blizzards, now it’s just another “appeal to the wow-ers” title. Laugh at me all you want I’ll probably won’t log in to see it. To you it’s just a game to me it’s soul crushing.. When you log in it’s not fun anymore, it’s just another workplace. Until (if ever) I find another game to fill the hollowness I guess I’ll spend my time watching guildies being rejected from raids cause they’re not full ascended and being rejected myself. Gl with raids to everyone else who enjoys being milked by the system and is extremely happy and lucky to not have all the memories I have from GW to drag them around in every other game they play.

First of all, if you don’t like Raids, simply don’t play. There are a ton of other things you can do in the game besides Raids.

Second, your “Gear Treadmill” isn’t as ridiculous as other MMOs out there. Depending on the amount of time you’ve played the game, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem having all the right gear you need to progress. The way to defeat the Raids aren’t set in stone, so there are tons of possibilities for you to experiment with what you have and make improvements as you go along if things don’t work out. If you are having trouble adjusting to the content, its fine. It always happens when introduced to something new. And to be clear, this is PVE End-Game content, not PVP. Its an entirely separate game you want to play. If you don’t like PVE, stay away from it.

Thirdly, if you are being rejected from playing content because your Guild or PUGs groups demands so much of you, then you are probably in a really bad guild and should avoid PUGs in the first place. Cause for this particular content, you are going to need friends who can communicate and coordinate during the encounters. PUGs are unreliable for the most part with the amount of actual difficulty you are being presented here. If your Guild rejects you because you suck or don’t have the gear, you can do a variety of things. Get the gear you need through Fractals, make the gear yourself with all the possible resources you currently have, or purchase it with gold. If you can’t do it, just work on it at your own pace. And besides, Exotic Gear still works, you may need to complement your armor with Ascended Trinkets and amulets to boost your required stats, and you can get those through Laurel Vendors mostly.
If you can’t do that, just leave the toxic guild. You don’t need them.

Fourthly, EVERY GAME nowadays wants to cater to as many people as possible. Its just how business works. If you want to sell a product, do everything you can to make as many people as possible want to purchase it. It won’t just cater to a minority, cause the minority can’t sustain a game like this. It need everyone on board for it to stay afloat. HoT did a fair amount of good with its release, and there is more to come. If you realized that you spent $60 or less (depending on sales events) on more than 3 years worth of content and updates that were free on the core game, than we can expect just as much if not more content within the year or 2 til the new expansion. Don’t expect EVERYTHING to appear on release. This isn’t a console release.

Fifthly, you aren’t being milked in this game. Everything is optional, you choose whether or not you spend more money on gems and such. And just to remind you, there is NO subscription fee. What other methods can Arenanet do to earn more money? Its your own decision to spend money on things you want for your account.

And look, I’m not saying everything is perfect. There is always a few problems to be had in games, but as far as Raids go, its only a problem for you because some bad players out there are making your experience worse for you. You don’t have to deal with them.
Just play with players who know how to have a good time. I really hope you do find them.

Sugg: Increase Gold reward for Raids

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: TheMaskedGamer.5708

TheMaskedGamer.5708

2 gold per Boss per week doesn’t seem to be any appealing. I would expect the challenges to be difficult, and for such an incredible challenge, we should be awarded with more gold. (Especially true since the dungeons were nerfed pretty badly.)

I suggest instead of 2 gold, why not 5 gold. You may argue that it could be too much, but then again, the raids have a weekly lockout. Make going through these raids worth it for us to put effort into it. Please anet.

Mad King Thorn and Revenants

in Revenant

Posted by: TheMaskedGamer.5708

TheMaskedGamer.5708

Considering the amount of infamy the Mad King Thorn had received during his life and the power he able to wield when in the Mists, even getting is own realm, you could say he made a Legend for himself. And he is theoretically dead, so I ask, could Revenants use Mad King Thorn as a Legend and use his powers? Would be cool to see that possibility.

Now before this idea gets thrown into the trash I would want a Lore reason as to why not, than just gameplay limitations. Please Anet, answer this for me.

Boss Timer is fine

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: TheMaskedGamer.5708

TheMaskedGamer.5708

I don’t see the problem of just one of many encounters being dps race as long as it’s not all. Boss timer is what makes this boss challenging, most group wipe because of the timer. Without it the boss would be super easy with tanky gears.Again this is only one encounter, we don’t know if next boss require everyone to survive 10 minutes under heavy fire and everyone need tanks stats or something, let’s not judge the whole raid because of one mechanic of the first encounter.

I only think that the current timer is bad because it basically forces players to one of the main problems of the game, convincing everyone that you need Berserker gear to beat the boss fast enough. Either they adjust it to be a little more fair, like 20 or 25 minutes if the boss remains as strong as it is now, reduced the dmg output of the rage mode to a smaller margin, or out right remove it.

Raid Feedback

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: TheMaskedGamer.5708

TheMaskedGamer.5708

I have to say that the current direction with the raid seems to be in the right place. I think that overall it does seem to be an interesting challenge. The only thing I think feels out of place is the Rage Timer. Basically we have a time limit to defeat the boss or the boss will received an overpowering boost to his dmg. Now this kind of goes against the very idea that “beserker will not be the meta”, since it does force players to consider using more dmg based gear to finish the fight at quickly as possible. I can only hope that the timer is either removed for the boss in the future, tweek the dmg output at the end to be a little more tolerable, at least double dmg, not 5x, or you extend the timer to something a little more reasonable. Everything else is okay to me.

A different type of weapon swap

in Revenant

I personally don’t like the idea to have these weapons be locked to a specific Legend. What I feel Arenanet has to to is to further update the weapons to a way where the weapons can be used flexibly with most of the Legends. The weapons should have synergy with whatever Legend you want to pick.

Ex. Staff can work with both Jalis and Ventari, Dual Swords with Shiro and Jalis, Mace/Axe with Mallyx and Shiro, etc. All the Legends should compliment with most of the weapons, not have teach weapon tied down to a specific one.

I have to disagree though…I like the way the Revenant is currently playing, but the main Problem I have is that the weapons aren’t flexible enough when having 2 Legends to work with. I’d prefer that the Weapons don’t get tied to a specific legend, and rather have weapons that can work with the Legends as best as possible. Say the Hammer can be effective while using Jalis AND Ventari, not just Jalis, or Mace/Axe work just as well with Shiro as it does with Mallyx, etc.

how do we range???

Does Rev hammer need a buff? Yeah, but they don’t need to be this “end-all-be-all versatility class” with every contingency covered. They are a heavy armor class for crying out loud, and we already have Engie and Ele who are supposed to be “jack of all trades.” Rev isn’t supposed to be “jack of all trades.”

I have to disagree on that one. They may be Heavy armor, but because how the mechanics are designed, you realize that they can technically be good at least on two things at a time. They are really selling that flexibility to us, but the weapons don’t really help. They seem to be a crutch to the class since the weapons are really tied down to their specific Legends, which to me doesn’t do the class justice when we have the ability to switch between 2 Legends, but that the weapon only works for one.

Revenant needs weapon flexibility

My biggest concern with the Revenant so far is the fact that most of the weapons seem to be tied very specifically to the Legends. Staff works perfectly with Ventari, Mace/Axe with Mallyx, etc.

The class gives you the ability to switch between 2 different Legends, which basically means you switch between 2 different sets of Utility skills that use the new Energy mechanic instead of cooldown. Now the problem comes in when you realize that the weapons simply aren’t designed to be as flexible as they need to be in order for them to compliment all the Legends. Ex. the Mace/Axe simply doesn’t work with Ventari Legend, Hammer doesn’t work well with Mallyx etc.

There a few solutions. Either you literally tie the weapon to the Legends themselves, or the one I’m most in favor (Because I’m in favor of flexibility), change a bit of the weapon skill’s flavors depending on the Legend you have Example: The Hammer’s 3rd skill: Phase Smash( which effects include a Chill) depending on the Legend you have, that specific condition changes. Jalis will make that skill keep the Chill, Mallyx could change that skill to have weakness or vulnerability, Ventari with Daze or Blind, and Shiro with Bleeds or Torment. I could compare to the Elementalists way of switching weapons skills based on the attunement, but a softer version, where the skills remain the same, but the small effects change depending on the Legend itself

The idea is to find a way to make all the weapons be as flexible as they can be so that no matter what combination of Legends you have, the weapon can be reliable to do its job, and not be tied down to one legend.

Help with Elonian Names

Hey Lore community, hope you guys are having a good day.

I wish to create a a character sooner or later from an Elonian descent, but I’m having trouble with finding a good name for him or her. What I wish to know is exactly where did all the Elonian names come from? I know that Elona is inspired by Africa and its many cultures, but I want to know which specific cultures. If anyone can help me, feel free to post.

Eir's last name.

I wouldn’t want them to be just aesthetic I want them to be useful to some extent. They just need to be placed in the right direction or place.

Racial Skills: Their place in the future

I’m surprised that there isn’t a Topic based on this in the forums (Or the search functionality is terrible here), but I’d figure I’d bring this up.

Now most players know that Racial Skills are abilities that mostly have no place within the game, minus PvE, and that they are relatively much weaker compared to the Profession Skills with a few exceptions like Take Root from the Sylvari and Prayer to Kormir for Humans. But my question to all this is where are we going to see these in the future?

Now many rumors that I’ve gathered lead to a few possibilities. One side being complete removal and another being possibly converted to a Core or Elite Specialization. The former being quite plausible due to the Revenant who for now doesn’t seem to have the ability to change their Utilities without switching Legends.

I am in complete favor of the Specialization idea, cause to me the idea of simply removing these skills from the game seems to be an awful direction.

Reasons why I don’t want them removed is because other than the appearance of reach race, these skills add a little more flavor to the race you choose, from a gameplay and Lore standpoint. It just doesn’t seem right to just simply eliminate skill that just further defines them as characters.

A Norn that can’t transform into their Spirit of The Wild? A Human without their faith in the Six Gods? And the worst one….Asura without their Golems?…No, just…no.

The skills now are useless I’ll admit, but I can only hope that ArenaNet can take the time to find ways to tweak them, or to balance them for the game in the future. Or at least put them in the right place in the game.

A final note are skills such as Mistfire Wolf and the Antitoxin Spray….where are they going too?

Probably the best choice for the Spec name is Watchman. I vote for Watchman.

Probably the one I’d pick is Warden. That at least keeps the ideas of them being this “Hunter” class without the very specific name. Like a game warden, except remove game.

(And I say no to names like Archangel or Seraphim, cause these names are too specific and close to the Human culture in Tyria. We already have Seraphs, so no need for those. Paragon is a favorable choice, but considering the way the gameplay is described it just doesn’t do it justice. I’ll wait for the next Spec to be Paragon for sure in the next expansion)

On that reasoning “Warden” doesn’t work because Wardens are the Sylvari equivalent of the Seraph.

Alright then. Sentry or Watchmen.

Warden

Warden is already taken by a race in Cantha, they probably wanted to avoid that association.

The association of that race doesn’t have to ruin the chance of a better name.

My suggestions are Sentinel, Sentry, Warden and Watchman. My best choice is Warden. Keeps the idea they are going for without being too specific as to what they hunt.
