300 gold for a tag color is too much

The point of a commander tag is to point players to someone who wants to form a group. One great example of such groups are….oh, I don’t know…GUILDS!!! It is meant to provide Guild Leaders and higher ranking officers the ability to lead groups efficiently. And you know how they can get these tags? Oh I don’t know…..GUILD VAULTS, where they store items as well as GOLD. Its not meant for individual use. Its not just a badge of glory for yourself. Its a tool. And the addition of the colors is to just differentiate the groups. Makes it much easier and faster to just point out who is who by looking at the color quickly than to scroll with the mouse and find out the name of the character

I’m only mad that the outfits can’t have separate pieces so I can choose which part of the outfit I really like. All or nothing isn’t a good idea. I mean I know its free to switch outfits, and anything free is awesome, but I do wish you can separate them for mixing and matching.

You are seriously overreacting. The game is going to be 2 years old soon, and the game is starting to improve dramatically since its launch and the year after. You and everybody should stop acting like they are entitled to everything there is in the game and expect everything to be there. The road ANet is going through has been a common road for other MMOs (INCLUDING WoW back in its vanilla days), where the first thing they focus on is to make the game playable, then add stuff to add a variety of activities to expand the gameplay, and to add quality of life stuff to make the game enjoyable to play. Guild Wars 2 hasn’t reached its full potential yet. Its still a very young game. And like anything, it need to grow. Give them time, cause they aren’t exactly working with Blizzard’s amount of money in their pockets.

They still have a lot of work to do obviously, but I think there progress is pretty good so far. A little slow I’ll admit, but hey, its still progress. Give them another year and we’ll probably get all the stuff you keep complaining needlessly about.

300 gold for a tag color is too much

TheMaskedGamer.5708

Anet is basically charging the community for a feature the community wanted put into the game to help large groups and events organize. They’ve taken a highly requested idea and spun it around as a gold sink.

Charging gold for a colored tag designed to help promote oragization, split large groups (zergs) and promote tactics (something WvW is severely lacking) is an outrage. It can be compared to charging players gold to use map chat, a tool used to organize groups and for tactics, much like the commander tag.

I beg that the decision to charge gold to access colored tags be reconsidered.

Just read the comments of over 400 players over at reddit:
http://www.guildmag.com/command-tag-gamescom-2014/

http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2djnv8/interview_with_devon_carver_commander_tag_will_be/

Honestly, 300 gold is nothing if you decide to spend maybe $65 dollars on gems.

There are places I recognize that are pretty much straight from Guild Wars 1 and only marked in Guild Wars 2 with a POI.

I’m glad that people who played the original GW can get a kick of nostalgia after finding them. But for those who couldn’t experience the first game, would appreciate this kind of feature.

Here’s what ArenaNet can do: For every additionally-purchased character slot, at the new low-low price of 1000 gems, a one-time use total make-up kit will be included!

There, problem solved! Money for ArenaNet, and exclusive hair, etc. for those that want to make ‘new’ characters. =)

You keep saying it’s not fair because of this and that and blah and bluh, but at the moment it doesn’t matter how many characters you have, you just need a kit for these exclusive hairstyles and colors. It’s the same thing for everyone. How isn’t that fair exactly?

So you don’t mind starting from scratch with a brand new character and NOT have these new options available to you?

You pay 800 gems to get a new slot, but then you are forced purchase a kit for 350 gems or use one you have in your bank or inventory to get the full character creation experience from the start for a totally brand new character?

What do you mean its not fair for the people who already created their characters? They already payed the price for making them when these options aren’t available for them yet. Its not fair to make someone new, then use a kit to see all the new options from the start. Its adding an unnecessary step 2 to create a new characters with every option available in the game only available in step 2. Since they are new, they should have the luxury of having them available for them from the start. And really, think about it, people will change their appearance when they feel like it, almost constantly to look as great as possible. People won’t find complete satisfaction with their appearance even in character creation. They won’t lose money. People will not stop buying them. All I’m saying that these options shouldn’t be restricted to new characters.

Id’ say what isn’t fair is…

Example:
Hi I have already made 20 characters before these styles release, I like these new styles and would have liked to use them, so now I have to pay gems for a kit.
Hi I’m brand-new to the game, and am just making my first character, I think it’s great I ckittene all these new hair styles for FREE; people who have shown some dedication to the game hahahaha you have to pay for them. (exaggeration but that’s how many will feel about it)

How is it a good decision to give things away to new players/new characters and charge older players for them?

You completely forgot this scenario:
Example: Hi I have 20 characters, I wish to make another. Oh darn, how inconvenient not having these new options for my new character. Oh well, guess I have to spend some extra just to get all the options available for someone completely brand new.

People keep thinking that I hate the kits. NO I DON’T. All I’m trying to say is that the new faces/hairstyles should not be exclusive to the kits only. Character creation should have them as well. If you want to make a new character now, why should they restrict those exclusive options to it? You create your character will all the options available and done, no harm done. If you didn’t like your choice, fine, use the kit to fix what you don’t like.

People will not stop changing their characters. It won’t affect a any profits since people will still change their appearance constantly throughout the game using these kits, and that is completely fine, but if you decided to start from scratch, with a brand new character, they have a right to see all the new options available to them.

Its fair for already existing characters to have to purchase kits, cause they already decided their look from the start. If they want to change, they work for it and pay the price, but lvl 1 characters shouldn’t have to go through all that to have everything available to them. Character creation and done, not Character Creation, Total Makeover Kit and done. Eliminate step 2 for these new characters.

No. Just to all of this thread. It’s not hard to make the gold to get a kit if you really want one, or you could simply key farm and try your chances at a kit through the BL chests. I’ve gotten a bunch of self-style and total makeover kits from the chests while key farming for ticket scraps. They are not the hardest thing to get.

Also, you can get the new hair styles from the self-style kit. It’s not locked to the total makeover kit. So if all you want to do is see the new hairstyles(or if in a future patch, they only release a new hair style), you can do it that way.

Quit whining about it not being available in character creation. It doesn’t need to be in there. If you’re too lazy to make gold in-game or figure out an alternative to obtaining the things you want in the game, then sucks to be you. I mean, hell, you only have to play the game to get what you want outta it. So how about you do that instead of adding another thread that is not only not going to make the dev’s change the game, but also in the wrong section of the forums completely.

You are asking for something. You are basically suggesting a feature. This is not the suggestion section of the forums. Good Job.

You don’t get it either. Don’t assume that everyone stops making new characters. If you are a veteran player since launch, wanting to make a new character, wouldn’t it be simpler to have all those options from the start? If they aren’t available at the character creation screen you are forced to get a kit (Hairstyle or Total) and use it to finally get the full character creation experience. I don’t mind the kits, they are useful to modify already existing characters, but I want those new options as well from the start when making new toons.

I have just over 2k hours in Guild Wars 2. I have been playing since Beta Weekend 1 in April of 2012. I have 1 of each class, plus and extra of 1 class, plus an additional slot for key farming.

It’s safe to assume I’m a veteran player.

That being said, while it would be simpler to just have that available, I don’t need that in character creation. As a veteran player, I know how to make gold. That right there is all I need to get the kits from the store IF I REAAAALLY WANTED TO DO IT THAT WAY. Gold to Gems for a self-style kit or total makeover IS NOT worth it imo. I’d rather key farm for ticket scraps and get one randomly(which I have).

It’s not needed in the character creation. I remember before they had the kits in the game, we all assumed/hoped for a barber. While it sucked at first release of the kits(mainly because I didn’t know how to key farm then), it wasn’t a big issue.

If the new options were in character creation, it wouldn’t be fair to those that have all the characters they want but didn’t get the option back when they were making characters. The possible exchange they(anet) could make for giving those options in character creation could be giving us a self style or total makeover kit for every character we have, but then you get the problem where people have 40+ characters(those people exist).

That’s a problem because Anet has to make money off the lazy people who don’t play a lot and can’t do gold-gems conversion. That’s the truth. They won’t change something that makes them a lot of money, and by the looks of it, those kits are doing a bang-up job!

What do you mean its not fair for the people who already created their characters? They already payed the price for making them when these options aren’t available for them yet. Im just saying that when I make a new character, maybe my 12th character slot, I would like to have these options available there as well. I don’t mind the kits, but for a brand new character, it would make an unnecessary step 2 in the character creation process. “Cut the middle man when starting fresh”.

Sure that would be convenient for you but there goes a large chunk of money Anet gets to continue developing the game. The main source for their income won’t be the initial box purchase but the sale of outfits, make over kits, bank/inventory/character slots and BLC keys.

So making new character slots isn’t so profitable anymore? 800 Gems vs the 350 gems of a makeover kit is a BIG difference. I don’t mind Kits, cause people will keep buying them no matter what. Everyone will want to change the character’s appearance constantly, but its not fair that these new option are only available there. New characters, made with new slots, should have them available to them as well.

I don’t see why you are complaining. Anet need to make a living somehow, if they made everything for free, then we would not have the game we have, or even worst.

I think it’s fair of them to make it makeover exclusive. I mean they’re still a business they need to earn money somehow to continue making content and they do not generate income from subscription. If you really hate your look and you don’t want to pay real money for it you can always exchange in-game gold for gems.

GW2 honestly has one of the most player friendly payment models I’ve seen in the MMO genre most of them either demand a subscription or put content behind payment walls or make it impossible to play the game without buying upgrades and you can’t even use in-game currency to do that or even worse pay2win etc.

You don’t get it. I pay money for new character slots. I love making characters, but what I do not like is that I have to make a character, purchase a kit, and then “actually make my new character.” Thats 1150 gems for the full character creation from the start of the game. Is that fair to you?

Suggestion to balance Conditions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TheMaskedGamer.5708

Conditions are really good in this game. So good in fact that sometimes removing them can a real pain, especially if you are being attacked by multiple enemies that apply and keep stacking them on top of you. The thing is that despite the fact that you remove the conditions, you are still open to more conditions that are being spammed on top of you like a machinegun.

My suggestion to balance this overwhelming situation is that after you remove some conditions or all conditions applied to you by your enemies, the remover receives a small window of invulnerability so protect them from the condi shower, something like 2 seconds only. This way, players being attacked get a small window to be safe, and forces attacking players to time their Condi Application instead of relentlessly spamming them on top of the victim.

Basically the invulnerability prevents others conditions to be added on the player and prevents remaining conditions from stacking for 2 seconds. If the time is too long, I’m fine with even 1 3/4 of a second, but no more than 3. Hope this helps.

How to possibly Balance Condi App and Removal

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheMaskedGamer.5708

TheMaskedGamer.5708

My suggestion is just an idea to even out this Uphill Battle between Condi App, and Condi Removal, with App being at the top. As an odd analogy, App is like a Machinegun, compared with Removal being a small semi-automatic pistol, in terms of speed and effectiveness. I know that in general App needs to have a small advantage to be effective to kill anything, but in its current state, App is firing down on Removal in an open field almost non stop. App has more ammo to throw out compared to removal with skills having a slow recharge time. It doesn’t stand a chance.

My idea is that there should be a small window where players can defend themselves properly from this App assault. I think that after a condition is removed, the player can receive like a second or 2 of invulnerability from more Apps. Its to give removal some small and extra benefit that can give players a chance against Apps assault, and make App time their attacks before they mindlessly spam its kitten nal. Hope this idea can help out balance this issue of App overpowering Removal.

Boons and Anti-Condition

I am a player who is open to different playstyles. Offensive Berserker, a powerful tank, Condition-dealer, etc. But my main character is a Guardian, and at least for the time being, I wish to turn this class into my main support character.(in PvE mostly, but I’m open to suggestions for WvW and PvP) Unfortunately, I find it very difficult for me to do that since I don’t feel like I’m actually helping anyone. I’ve seen Boon Duration as one major way to help, but it seem kinda ignored among the devs, since there is barely any gear based around Boon. I am aware that there are Runes like the Traveler, Water and Monk that give large percentage on Boon Duration, but really? Why is it that Giver’s only give you like 1%? I want to suggest to ANet that they give Boon duration a similar overhaul like Crit Damage with Ferocity. Or even sets dedicated to Boon Duration similar to Giver’s but more pronounced. And while on this subject, why is it so much harder to remove conditions than to cast them? It seems with most abilities you have in combat give away conditions like a sale on Black Friday, and it makes condition removal really annoying since they keep on coming. There is still more work to be done with support, cause it seems very lackluster and still unsatisfying for my experience. Fell free to comment otherwise, cause either there is a system that i may be unaware of, or better tips to make my Guardian support more effective.

I can only hope that Anet can make this type of feature available by the end of 2014 or 2015.

No cause each race has their own Personal Story. It would make a time paradox that complicates things for the story. Just start a new character and play your way to lvl 80 like your last one.

I want to add Guild Story mission, imagine involving your guild in their own personal story. That would be exciting. Overall, great suggestions!

well but there is a way to change haircut, in gem store, You must understand that game with no monthly subscriptions must find a way to earn money for itself. So we have gem shop. And now there are two ways that game can earn money through ingame shop:
- one way is to put items in this shop that give You advantage over other players (weapons/armors with better stats, or items that gice You acces to dungeons or bosses with special loot)
- second way is to put in this shop items that make cosmetic changes for players (such as makeover kits, transmutation stones, skins)

I think its good tha ArenaNet is choosing the second way to earn money
I played a lot of mmo with no monthly subscription and as far as I remember things like that always were in real money shops.

But have you seen the large amount of Gold is required to trade for gems? I’m glad that Anet even considered the option to trade Gold for gems for those who work their butts off to earn it. However, the value of Gems are becoming more expensive, with almost 7 Gold for 100 gems. That seems highly unfair. It still bothers me that despite all the available options for customizing your character, from Dye colors to Transmuting awesome items to get the look and better stats, doesn’t give you an option to change your hair. I know that buying gems with real money helps Anet, but if there are people who change their appearance very often are pretty much obligated to change their hair for 8 or 9 gold(turned to gems). Like I said, I don’t mind the permanent version, cause at least is a portable version that can stay with you anywhere, but they really should implement the barbershop for major cities for our convenience. I can even complain on the dye system, cause I want all colors to be account bound so that all of my characters can use the colors. Please Anet, just those two fixes, the rest is alright to make money off of.

more professions?

I actually want to add the Monk as a new profession. Not like the one back in the first GW. It can be a profession that is a mix of Engineer or Elementalist(The kit feature or attunements but it will be called Martial Style), Necromancer or Warrior( The Life force bar or Adrenaline bar, but it will be called Ki bar) and has a limited amount of weapons, mainly the Sword(Dual-wieldable), Staff(As an AoE melee weapon for them) and daggers(Ranged throwing weapons). It can use either light or medium armor, not the heavy.(Although they would have to create a new type of light armor to make it look like Chinese monk clothing.) I prefer medium.

The styles allow you to access a set of skill that you can use with Ki to perform. At least 5 bars of Ki and the new skills use a certain amount depending on the skill. An example would be “Dragon Style” a pure offensive Style that can cause burning, considered a “rush down-single target style” the “extra abilities”(Like the tool kits) are Ki blasts or fireballs.

More I deas to come later.

1. Make Dyes account bound so that every character in your account can access them.

2. In-game barbershop in major cities to change your hairstyles for 10 or 25 silver to replace Self Style Hair Kits. (I don’t mind the Permanent version that you carry around)

3. Tengu as a new playable race. Which means you have to open up the Dominion of Winds. Please make it within this year or the next.

4. New playable instruments. I really loved the Marriner’s Horn and Flute, and I want to get a chance to play other potential instruments like drums, guitars, or lutes, and harps. (P.S. make the Unbreakable Choir Bell available in the Gem Store, not just the Trading Post)

5. Add capes. I miss those capes. XD

I am personally tired of the fact that a feature like this hasn’t been implemented yet in Guild Wars 2. I am tired of having to pay so much gold for gems that are only getting more expensive everyday to buy a kit that permits you to change your hairstyles. Sure there is an item called the Permanent Self-Style Hair Kit, which is an item with an extremely low chance to drop in Black Lion Chests, but I find it to be an overpriced and very rare way to basically customize our characters the way we want. Its very surprising how a game that permits you to change the color of your armor, or even let you transmute items to attain the appearance of an awesome looking armor to an armor with better stats, doesn’t let you change your hair with an in-game barbershop. I can understand that this is just a complaint about the aesthetics, but I think for role-players or people who love to change their characters appearance often would appreciate a feature like this that is pretty common in most other MMOs. And make it a fair price too in-game, like 10 to 25 silver or something like that. I don’t mind the Perma-hair style Kit as long as its the only portable way to change you hair at anytime. In-game Barbershops should be placed in the Major cities like Divinity’s Reach, Black Citadel, etc. Please ArenaNet, add this when possible.
