Just wondering how I can get the most damage out of the hammer. Is it better to stack power or crit? Best sigils to use etc. Since the overall damage isn’t very good I want to try to get the most out of it that I can.
I run with Axe/shield as my second set for the burst damage.
Just remember that all hammer skills telegraph really, really hard. If you cant see an Earthshaker coming, you certainly will the next time. Hammer warriors are relying more on your willingness to get hit than their timing.
So much this. You would not believe how many people just don’t kittening dodge and let me bash their face in. You deserve to get destroyed if you are just going to try and sit their and tank my hammer.
Learn what Earthshaker looks like (hint: I fly through the air). Backbreaker takes a good half second to land…react to it. If you also don’t have at least one stun breaker, then get ready for fun time.
By the way im loving all the laugh spam… 20+ vs 5… you showed us..
Who needs to laugh spam when we have a +500 tick? It should be implied.
Why would you have a pull that only worked in melee range? Also definitely not every ability should cost endurance. This basically would pidgeonhole a Greataxe warrior into the defense traitline and have to run PVT gear.

I think one of the main problems for people running around in WvW is that they think they can go toe to toe with a good warrior. If you are a light armor wearer or a thief you seriously have no business trying to beat me in melee combat…you just won’t win. Use your superior mobility/stealth/evades to wear us down. To all the thieves who try to backstab/heart seeker spam a 3200+ armor warrior down — you deserve your inevitable death.
Also if you see a mace warrior using his 3+ second stun on you, why are you running back into melee range? After the first one you should gtfo. Anyone who says warrior is ‘faceroll’ has either never played it or never played it correctly. Whether it is easier to play than other classes is another story but many warrior weapons and builds have a high skill ceiling (as with most MMOs that have a warrior class).
I’m not sure if the effect culling is bugged or its working as intended, but it certainly isn’t culling the spell effects on my screen in zergs. I still cannot see the boss in a huge ball of particle effects which makes it difficult to see what abilities he is about to use. I’ve heard post-processing can make a difference but it looks pretty much the same whether its toggled ON or OFF.
If the problem is on my end, any help would be appreciated in making the Effect LOD function correctly. Thanks.
Unlike lazily watching some non-god NPC magically defeating a god. And somehow absorbing it’s power to become a God.
For the billionth time. This is not the fight that had Kormir in the Realm of Torment. This is the battle that happened 1000 years earlier that turned the Crystal Sea into the Crystal Desert.
Say no to golem grinding! Vote Gnashblade!
Another 1000 years in the past makes those events less relevant to current events in GW2.
You know nothing. The Fall of Abaddon was when Tyrians in the human kingdoms began recording time. The event was that important. We know absolutely nothing about the details of the Fall of Abaddon. Was it the 5 Gods against just Abaddon? Did the Margonites enter the battle? Was King Doric’s army involved? What did Abaddon look like at the time? Was he the corrupted monster we saw in Nightfall (probably not) or was he just another humanoid God. and WHY was he so mad that the Gods took magic away from Tyria? Maybe he knew about the elder dragons when the other Gods did not.
He defeated one of the 5 Gods during this battle. Who was it? Maybe we can get some answers as to WHY they left Tyria in the first place. It is extremely relevant to GW2 if you actually know an ounce of lore. If one or two of those questions gets answered it is worth knowing.

The fractal would be about the first fall of Abaddon. Not when players defeated him in Nightfall.
even though i can agree in some parts, a window after a dungeon showing some results may lead to exclude some people to run the same dungeon in some way in the future or even asking before the dungeon to enter with a certain build to fill better the formentioned window…
some classes can be even more excluded in content just because some people misunderstood numbers.and number misunderstanding seems very common, just look at the threads about celestial stats and see how people completely messed up the maths
Yes that’s a good point, but if there weren’t any specific numbers it wouldn’t be too exclusive. If the page just said “(Top Damage – (Player Name))” I don’t think anyone could rightfully exclude another player because they still do not know their actual DPS. Maybe it could be like a top 3 sort of thing.
Since the GW2 team is currently focusing on improving the core game, I thought of something that could really use an update. The current combat log is almost useless and gives pretty much no helpful information other than damage.
1st idea
Some things that the Combat Log should display:
-Your damage output
-Your healing output to x ally
-Conditions you have removed from x ally
-Conditions removed from you by x ally
-Boons given to x ally
These are just a few things that should be in the combat log IMO. Obviously, there could be many more but lets not get crazy yet. In addition to the CL, the UI should be updated as well to let you know how you are affecting the battle and how others are affecting you. For example, many times I have been doing world events about to die, when a brave soul will heal me for half my health and remove some conditions. Every time this happens, I ask who it was to thank them because, well its awesome. It would be great to have the player name show up next to the healing amount above your character’s head so you know who is consistently healing you. This could even go in the combat log, along with who removed conditions from you, but having it on the HUD would be very nice.
2nd idea
For people who are against cluttering the HUD and do not want to have such specific numbers in the Combat Log for whatever reason, I propose an after action report.
Let’s say you are in a dungeon. Everything is going fine because you have enough damage to kill all the baddies and everyone is healing themselves/each other in a timely manner. When you down the final boss and get your reward, an after action report would be generated that could display the following:
-Player who dealt Most Damage
-Player who did most healing
-Player who removed most conditions
-Player who provided the most buffs
Again, this is just a simple example (you could get very specific with the reports, but I do not know how complicated it would be or if Anet’s systems could support it).
Personally, I like knowing how I’m doing in MMOs. I want to know how I am helping my group and what they are doing to help me! It’s great when you know that somebody helped you in a dungeon when you can go “Hey Bob, that was some really clutch condi removal”, or “Great heals Joe” and can really build some team spirit. Many people are against DPS counters (with good reason!) and I feel some sort of system like this can let people know how they are playing without the game turning into kitten, top dps spam.
TL;DR: GW2 needs a refined combat log with more detailed information. After action reports could be generated to let players know how they fared in battle, without the need for a dps/hps meter that many people dread.
I noticed today that I was having extremely long load times when logging into the game. It took me over two minutes to load into Lion’s Arch (as opposed to the normal ~30 seconds) and then another few minutes for all of the models/textures to finish displaying.
Dungeons are near unplayable because there is a 2-5 second freeze every minute more or less. It also takes longer to load waypoints, but not as bad as the initial loadtime after log in. Is there a way to fix this problem without re-installing the client? It has been working fine so far but randomly I started experiencing these problems today.
for all these months i ve been waiting when anet make warrior slightly better….warrior was ok, but the class needed little tweak to get good imo…and what they do? they make it even worse…after this patch warrior is a real crap for pvp…wont take long till i lose all interrest in this game….was a good time tho.
Maybe play a different profession in PvP.
So personally I hate the aggro system in this game as its fairly primitive (seems to be whoever has the most toughness will be the main target). Unfortunately, this means for us warriors who like to shout heal somehow become the baddies’ prime target which leaves me kiting a lot during times when there are many enemies. I even dumped some of my toughness to try to make myself a less juicy target, but as a warrior, I still have more than the other classes. It’s like I’m being punished for wanting to heal because “He has a lot of toughness, MUST BE A TANK!!”
For anyone else who has high toughness, how are you able to not get 7-10+ enemies constantly following you around?
Looks like you’re using mostly cleric’s equipment with 1 berserker ascended ring and 1 other ascended piece, presumably PVT. Pretty standard for a PvE shout healing build. You can’t really get amazing damage without gimping your heals and totally removing the reason to roll with shout heals in the first place.
Though you seem to have about 3k more health and less healing power than I would expect. Plus you even have some even some condition damage. Are you wearing some Shaman’s gear and not specced fully into Defense?
I expect the best you could hope for is to switch to a higher dps main hand weapon, like axe, and trait for Berserker’s Power if you don’t already.
Specced fully into defense. The Cond damage is from Solaria, Circle of the Sun and the Ancient Karka Shell.
Build is 10/0/30/30/0
I use sharpening stones to get more dps in dungeons as well because of my high Vit and Toughness. I get more healing power from a sigil of life (+250 at 25 stacks). I guess my main question would boil down to: is it plausible for a shout healer to sacrifice some HoPo and survivability for dps, while still bringing viable heals/support to the table?
I mainly run a shout healer in PvE content (dungeons, fractals, orr etc.) and also do some WvW with a similar build.
I would like someone to critique my stat allocation and give opinions on if I need more/less of a certain stat. As it stands right now, I’m pretty tough to kill in PvE (which I’m mainly focusing on atm) but I FEEL like my damage is a bit lacking. Its tough to really tell without a damage meter.
Hammer is my weapon of choice, but I use GS, Rifle, and Mace+shield depending on the situation.
Obviously I buff up in dungeons but these are all base attributes.

The developers said it won’t be a blanket nerf to all aoe skills.
They will look into every single aoe skill and judge how much to nerf it.
What they say and what they actually do have turned out to be two completely different things.
Case in point – legendary precursor scavenger hunt they said they were working on over 3 months ago. Turns out…they weren’t.
Never said they were working on it. They said they were thinking about it/looking into how it could be implemented.
On topic: There is no way they will just nerfbat all AoE’s. They JUST said they wouldn’t and if they do, there will be extreme backlash, which they definitely want to avoid.
I really don’t think they are talking about hammer AoE for the nerfs. It’s more along the lines of Meteor Shower or possibly Barrage. They mentioned using AoE in dungeons, " right now if you have a lot of AoE you can past encounters by just spamming AoE which is not what we want." There is no way they are thinking about Hammer AoE in that instance because nobody spams hammer AoE to get past encounters because it’s pretty weak.
Currently all I need is 55 Obsidian Shards to finish my Twilight, i have all the karma plus more needed to get them but this bug is the only thing standing in my way.
its very frustrating that Anet are not even giving a response in regards to this issue. surely it cant be that hard to do a small server or zone reset?
I was talking to some people in map chat the other day about it and I did hear that it probably won’t be fixed until a server reset. Obviously I take that with a grain of salt because it is map chat, but that’s what its looking like it will take if nothing has happened for this long.
EDIT: patch reset event. Balth open on Isle of Janthir.
(edited by Thor.4065)
kind of saddens me that these events have been bugged for so long. i guess they’d be hard to replicate or some other underlying issue that causes them to be “left untouched” since day one. and something so crucial to not just getting legendaries, but regular gameplay.
that being said, for the past couple days, a group of us have been attempting the event. we did the north and south ones. but i feel the north one was most consistent and reliable. i’ve had the south ones the team would just disappear. :///
the two starting events (submarines and retaking brassclaw) is easily doable with just 1 person (and we felt more effective). and then once brassclaw WP is opened up, bring your team over and start the escorts : ))
hope they fix these soon, but in the meantime, try the northern one and good luck!
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, the northern and southern forces are safely at the rally point. The central is the only problem
For several days now, the Central Invasion of Orr event chain has been stuck at the first stage. This makes it impossible for Temple of Balthazar to be completed. Not sure what it takes to make the event unstuck, but if it can be easily reset, a lot of people getting legendaries would be appreciative
Hammer warrior here—Ignoring the troll, OP I think you make a good point in your post. However, I’d say that the point of having these skills isn’t to intentionally create reverse synergy, but to create more of a sense of choice/decision making.
For example, lets say you have the +12% damage trait while fighting a boss and you are wailing on him, sitting at full adrenaline. But then some adds spawn! What do you do? You could continue hitting the boss with your damage buff, move to the adds and try to kill them one by one, OR use Earthshaker and stun them all, sacrificing some of your own DPS, but relieving pressure from your party allowing for some free hits, heal skills, and targeted AoE skills to be more effective. GW2 is a lot about the tradeoffs (at least for warriors).
As for the GS adrenaline skill, I don’t even understand why it’s there. Does pretty bad damage while fury is pretty useless from a weapon skill IMO.
The axe and rifle are pretty fair because they are just damage spikes. If you allowed warriors to have 3 more traits in place of the adrenaline ones, we might just be too OP :P
When the trait DP procs, it’s up for around 2 seconds; should be 5.
Also, the proc is inconsistent. Unless it’s made more viable; keep away from the trait one.
It’s definitely more than 2 seconds, I’ll time it next time it procs. It definitely has it’s place. Many times I’ve been losing health from rapid attacks, DP procs, then I have a few seconds of breathing time to dodge and hit my heal skill. By that time my healing shouts are probably almost off CD and all is well again.
One of the best idea’s for DEs I have seen so far. Something like this should definitely be implemented in Orr (at the very least), where tactics and strategy should be REQUIRED to progress. Up the rewards a bit but make the DEs more fulfilling/outwardly scale and Orr won’t be such a zergfest. The overall game quality and experience would be improved as well, because you would feel like you are actually in a battle, rather than what most DEs are right now (spam the NPC spawn area for loot).
It’s disappointing to see how much they toned down elite skills from GW1. Only Avatar of Melandru out of 5 avatars made it in (no Balthazar really?) and its lackluster at best. So many elite stances and hammer skills didn’t make it in either. Guess they aren’t really supposed to be game changing in GW2.
nVidia 306.23 drivers causing utilization issues
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Thor.4065
Wondering if anyone else is experiencing GPU utilization problems with the latest drivers. I’m using a GTX 675m and after installing the latest drivers, I’m sitting around 35 fps which is much lower than usual. I checked the utilization and it was seesawing in the 50-70% range, never going into the 90s at all.
If this is a known problem, is there a fix? Thanks
EDIT: Solved the utilization issue, but still experiencing lowered framerates. Guess I’ll be rolling back to 304.

I noticed this a little while ago and its great for defending gates as well. You can put out a ton of damage to a ram/people bashing the gate and also use the knockback move as well. Good if you need a couple of seconds for gate repair.
