Showing Posts For Those Who Remain.1987:
I applied on your website. Hopefully I will be accepted.
I think it’s mostly a case of confirmation bias.
I know plenty of people who spend lots of gems and have gotten very lucky in-game, while I have also seen people with not spending gems and terrible luck.
You’ll need a lot more than ‘most people I spoke to said…’ to be able to make a convincing argument.
One question though.
Is Those Who Remain.1987 – Cath a female ?
I am a male.
Cath is an abbreviation of my Character named Cathair. ‘Cath’ basically became my name for people on Mumble since it was easy to remember.
‘Grinding’ is a way for developers to create hours upon hours of playtime based on little content. It can be very lazy design.
I don’t mind grinding in itself, as long as it is optional for most of it. That’s why I like GW2’s approach. The game allows you to choose how you want to progress, whereas a lot of other games force you into the ‘grind’.
For me, an MMO is about immersion and gameplay. Not being forced to grind to be able to continue to grind for the next equipment, after which I have to grind etc.
Bounties are a lot more fun without tracking your targets beforehand. Some of the best Guild Mission moments have definitely come from killing the final target in the last 5 seconds of the Bounty (T3) for my guild.
5 players per target could be used as a minimum, but it is definitely doable. (most of the time)
Send in a ticket and explain the situation. You never know what it may accomplish.
The guild I’m leading had to disable permissions for most members as well due to abuse from some. (Luckily they were only stacks of food, but we clearly defined rules about that) Some people just can’t be trusted, unfortunately.
Gratz!
I’ll have to go (and I won’t have a PC in the weekend). If this thread is still alive at Monday, I’ll be sure to give it another shot.
Happy hunting!
I “think” I know where it is but can’t make the jump….or I’m just crazy and there is nothing there…lol still trying!
The jump is tricky indeed. I made it mostly with my Elementalist (jump→ride the lightning)
Other leap skills should work as well I think.
By your description, I think you are at the right spot. Good luck
It is always accessible. I’d recommend your own Borderlands. A waterfall and a wall of vines will be another hint.
(In your defence, I needed several hints to find this spot as well)
(edited by Those Who Remain.1987)
Been there, done that.
(It’s also a location in the Guild Treks nowadays)
As for the new spot, take a look at the second picture. (Hint: WvW)

I have had my first Black Lion Key in 1600 hours from a random Invader in WvW a few days ago.
It still exists, but is extremely rare.
It’s just RNG. The odds (if you do it 1 by 1) are 33% to get a clover, as the average of ecto/mystic coins you need is 231 for 77 clovers.
I had more clovers as I neared the final 20 then what I had gotten in the beginning. It’s nothing more than RNG for this. (At least, I haven’t seen anything so suggest otherwise)
It is a very small minority that farms CoF non-stop and wants the absolute most efficient way to do so (and acting like described in the OP).
Don’t blow a few occasions of this happening out of proportion.
Not true. While you may gain some more lvl 76-80 equipment due to RNG, a reason to stay in higher level areas are T6 Materials (Powerful Blood, Crystalline Dust etc.)
They simply made it a bit more rewarding to be in lower level areas as well. They did not get it backwards.
All I’ve seen so far in my guild is people jokingly referring as how they must be number 101 or how the Leaderboards must’ve been bugged.
So far, I see little people that take it too seriously and I doubt it will have a significant impact on the PvE player’s behaviour.
I liked the Devout set (added bonus is that it is very cheap to get)

Only the worst offenders got banned. (200 with the snowflake exploit)
I agree with this. People are responsible for their own actions. When they willingly and consciously use an exploit (and quite often they are obvious), then they should take responsibility for the consequences.
In your example, you should have told the store that the machine malfunctioned. Did you keep some candy? Fine with me. Did you hire a minivan to store with all that candy? Not fine.
EDIT: If you have to ‘fear’ playing this game, then I am very curious what you are doing. No one I know has any fear about playing the game and those who have gotten a temporary suspension for exploits admitted they knew very well what they were doing.

You guys claim you like all the races, but how many of you would play as Asura or Charr as your main? I still think that the vast majority of players don’t want to play as these races. More compelling races would have attracted more players to this game. Lots of people like the traditional fantasy races like elves.
Then let those play games that wish to be traditional. I prefer the setting and races of GW2 over any ‘traditional’ game out there.
I am personally most intrigued with the Sylvari, but I like the way the other races look as well. Norn are my least favourite race to be honest.
I use it and still like it very much on my Guardian. It does look and feel sturdy to me, which I found lacking in the previous Tiers.
I discovered the same today…somewhat disappointed as well. I hoped the bird would face forward.
When your going back over a map area to get your areas you missed because you were doing your storyline. Then for no reason they added a chest you see and just happen to try it. Then out pops monkey thing throwing something at you at lvl77 and you almost die. Well if you don’t see anything wrong with that I guess I must be crazy. The red rings refer to the almost impossible tower things they added along roadsides that everyone travels I try and take them out because I hate them so much. But that’s me. I liked the game the way it was I even didn’t mind to much when they added poison to the lvl 80 map area. I’m not saying I hate GW2 but the killer bunnies, frogs, monkey’s, and whatever don’t look like they belong in a very artist game.
But why complain now? We had the exact same with Wintersday. Did huge presents with living toys fit in ‘a very artist game’?
The towers you refer to seem to be the periscopes of the Living Story. so they serve a purpose in the events of the world.
Or, just a thought, let everyone enjoy the game in their own way.
You dislike the Super Adventure Box. Good for you, but don’t expect others to agree with you or move away.
The game feel is in no way lacking due to an addition that is basically only there in a seperate instance. I think you’re blowing this way out of proportion.
A ‘no’ to both and I’ll also say that most encounters are pretty easy.
There are some good encounters in the game for high level PvE (Grawl Shaman at high level Fractals), but the majority of it can be done very easily.
I disagree with most of the OP.
Having some small mounts like the broom is fine with me, as long as they are purely aesthetic. No stat bonuses or advantages to them in any case.
It’s not an exploit, but the current situation gives people who complete the achievements early a disadvantage when it comes to Laurels.
I received a response from support saying they were aware of the issue and they were thinking about how to fix it, but it sounded somewhat generic to me.
I hope they manage to either just give everyone the +10 laurels in some way or remove the 10 additional laurels from people who got them (I think solution 1 will result in far less complaints)
Foostivoo the Merry. What’s not to like about a singing Quaggan with a christmas hat?
Oh, Snuggleclaw (my Plush Gryphon mini) comes close as well.
And here I am, completing the monthly PvP achievement 2 hours before the patch…I’m a genius.
I don’t pvp and I seldom run dungeons. I don’t want my already too slow in combat Gaurdian/Warrior to be stripped of any more speed.
“This wont end well” Indeed.
Quickness gets nerfed. Not swiftness.
Big difference.
Skip step 2 and it becomes much, much more fun and exciting to do. Our guild has done T3 on several occasions with around 6 people per target, so it is definitely doable.
Stalking Bounties before the mission takes a lot of the fun and pressure away in my opinion.
I know you can salvage the rare armor you obtain from each Dungeon Vendor. I must say I am not entirely sure about the Exotics as I have never tried it before.
Fishing can be decent, as long as it does not reward players for being AFK during entire nights and/or days.
There needs to be some ‘active’ component that rewards you for participating.
Why do you find it a wonder that people still play this game? To me, that sounds like you apply your opinion of the game onto the entire playerbase.
GW2 certainly has its flaws, but there is no day that I am bored yet. Whether it is WvWing, PvPing, Dungeoning, doing Fractals, exploration, Guild Missions or having a blast with some people in LA, the game always managed to keep me entertained and occupied.
Not to say I have no criticism on the game (I certainly do), but I get the feeling your issues with the game are mostly preference-based.
I had some issues with my Sylvari, as they only use a first name (often of a Gaelic origin)
However, adding a ‘title’ to the name can do wonders.
Warden Ciana is my main character at the moment, as Ciana itself was taken.
Maybe that helps a bit?
Slightly related question: There’s several pieces of T3 cultural armor I’d like to buy. Should I hold out in hopes ArenaNet lowers the price? Or is the potential backlash from players who have already paid full price too great to ever allow that to happen?
I’d personally don’t mind if the price gets lowered a bit, as long as it remains somewhat ‘exclusive’. You will still have to pay a lot for the skins themselves compared to other armor.
That said, 119g is alot for most and could be lessened a bit. I wouldn’t mind seeing it drop to like 100g.
1. Creating a sheath for the Sanguinary Blade. Watching Gixx stuttering as he realized that Seiran’s idea was brilliant.
2. Order of Whispers story as a Sylvari. You rig a fight in order to get Caladbolg back, but to give the guy a hallucinogen you have to take it to. “But The Dredge!”
The oooooozzes!!!
I loved that mission, it was without a doubt one of the highlights of the Personal Storyline.
Also gotta love Tybalt and Sieran.
We started yesterday with the guild and got 2 commndations, after hearing about the reset we did it again and got another 2.
Our guild managed to get 4 and I can personally vouch against the ‘commendations for each tier’, as I did tier 1,2 and 3 yesterday and got only credited for one of them with the chest pop-up.
Other guilds may have unlocked treks or may have found an exploit within the system?
Isn’t there always one? The problem in our Guild Bounties was that another guild killed it with maybe 1 of us tagging it, which resulted in the Bounty being completed and the whole party in the map missing out on the commendations.
As someone who has just completed his ‘Sylvari project’ (T3 Cultural armor for a Thief, Elementalist and Guardian), I can only say I did it purely for the unique skins.
Heck, even if the vendor sold the pure skins without any stats for 119g I would still have gotten it. It is a steep cost, but for me the unique, race-dependent gear is nothing else but amazing.
I love my ele in her leafy dress, I love my Guardian in his Bamboo armor with his branch helmet and I love the looks of my thief in her slim Sylvari attire.
There is nothing wrong with some more exclusive or higher priced equipment at the moment in my opinion, despite ‘lower stats’ on it.
I can’t disagree more. I almost always manage to find some people, either by accident or a quick shout in the map chat.
Heck, even walking through LA results in some interaction with other people often enough. Add Guilds in the mix and I think communication is pretty strong in GW2.
EDIT: I’m also from Desolation if that matters.
7/10. nothing special, but partially fitting according to Sylvari lore (no last names)
Warden Ciana, female Elementalist. (Ciana means ‘ancient’ in Gaelic)
3) It does seem like a grind. I tried making an unbreakable tonic. 14 tries and I have none. A friend of mine has already made 3 tonics in less than 14 tries – we were making them at the same time. So, now, if I really care, I’m back to farming for stuffing and glue.
But then again you are aiming for the most exclusive rewards of the event. That is an entirely different story.
The event itself is no grind as almost everything can be gotten quite easily. Only if you strive for the most exclusive things I may consider it a grind as well.
(However, that is a grind by choice)
Actually it is a grind despite what some claim here. It’s not what I consider fun.
And why exactly is it a grind? In most of the activites you can get bags and most rewards can be gotten if you simply spend a decent amount of time in the game.
If you lack the time to play, you can buy the rewards from the TP for relatively little amount of gold.
I fail to see where exactly you must grind to get the rewards.
I reached around 3.3k points at the moment. Most of my guildies have between 2 and 3k.
Its disgusting people feel its your fault if you count on the word of an anet employe and end up wasting 350 gems (4,38€ value)
The cogs had to be handed out due to people who suffered from Diminishing Returns. Also, we all knew a special ‘surprise’ was coming yesterday, and the Anet response was in a thread that was about the Wintersday dungeons. (not the entire event)
Can’t you just accept that and be happy for others? You can’t blame Anet for an additional surprise just because you decided to spend gems for it.
My advice is to attempt to send in a ticket and explain the situation, but I feel your response is out of proportion.
You do the event jumping puzzle-you get bags
You do event sPvP-you get bags
You do bell choir minigame-you get bags
You do PvE-you get bags
You do WvW- you can get bags as well
In what way must you grind exactly? Besides that, most weapon skins and recipes are dirtcheap to begin with.
I think it is forced, kitten odd and a clear attempt to please those types of people as its relevance to the lore and story goes very little beyond ‘see I know you types buy the game and we’re including you!’-
Then you do not understand the Sylvari well. The relevance to the lore is kinda obvious, as it shows how young and innocent the Sylvari are. They are open to experiences and haven’t been influenced much by the ‘human norms’.
If you feel it is forced in this game, then I’d hate for you to play other games (Zevran in Dragon Age anyone?).
My play times:
Around 20-30 hours per week
What I do in-game:
-Whatever I want, including: Map completion, dungeon runs, WvW, sPvP, just messing around, jumping puzzles etc. etc.
I just like the variety and am easily distracted, thus I have little true ‘goals’ at the moment.
Maybe some sort of Animal Spirit? I haven’t seen it myself yet, so you have piqued my interest.
I’d say pick an aspect of the game that you thorougly enjoy and go from there. I like YouTube series in which the maker is passionate about the subject, it immensely increases the pleasure of watching them.
