Agadar.4931: A bad mesmer still poops clones like no tomorrow.
Lazaar.9123
They wouldn’t make any sense being in Maguuma.well they said that the mastery system was going to have better infusions for fractals but that still gates the original infusions and why would a plant not grow in other area’s ? that like saying my cactus wouldnt grow in a plant pot because it doesnt belong in one
Come on, really? Why would a cactus that grows on a rocky island grow in a jungle? Completely different climates and soil types. Plants don’t just grow with dirt and water. And just because a new infusion comes along doesn’t mean anything has to change for the current infusion.
Actually, “passiflora” isn’t a cactus. It’s a tropical vine that would thrive in a jungle setting. It makes perfect sense for it to be in the Maguuma areas, but this game doesn’t always make sense, anyway when it comes to its flora choices. For example, the “cherry” trees (in reality this is a hard wood) drop “soft wood” when harvested. And the inverse “pine” which is a soft wood in reality drops “hard wood” when harvested. This has bugged me as a nitpick since day one, but it’s a fantasy setting. If they wanted to add a tree called “oak” and have it present “pulp wood” when harvested, that’s completely up to the game developers to do. It’s their world.

Not in the guild, but wouldn’t mind an invite. I’m on SBI NA. I only recently started sPvP and got my monthly for it last month using mostly a crappy pistol/pistol build. Would like to switch focus to mesmer, so I’m willing to try any builds people want to suggest. I have 2 of every profession except necromancer and ranger (only one of each), so I could log any of those for people to beat on as well, but my lack of overall sPvP experience means I’m probably NOT a good fit for that… still willing to do it if people want it, though. Would love to get some build suggestions and maybe a little coaching for playing mes for this, though.

Just wanted to say that email authentication for the forums stopped working for me in early October. The mail provider is yahoo. The IP address I am logging from does not change at home nor at work (which is why I can log in and post this from home.) The IP from work is the one I try to authenticate. I do not use a throw-away for the login, so that is not the issue. I did check “not spam” at some point most likely. I try to authenticate and I never get the email. I chaulked this up to a possible temporary problem at yahoo’s end because they keep making changes to their web based email service so didn’t try again until today. It still does not work for me… just a heads up.
My wife created a trial account during the last trial period. She’s planning to purchase the game soon, but isn’t able to this pay period. She wanted to see if she could reactivate her account as a trial account again, but she can’t remember her password, and she can’t find the email that was sent to her to activate the trial account the first time around. Is it possible to activate this account? How is she supposed to purchase this account if she can’t do a password reset through the system? She knows her account info, just not her password, and she doesn’t have the required “key” for the “reset your password” form. Any thoughts on this?
At the risk of sounding like a kitten (I can live with that) I’ll give you the best piece of advice.
Finish leveling. You can easily hit 80 in a 5 or 6 days of doing hearts, some crafting, map completion, etc.
Stay in the lowbie zones and just get map completion. If you do all the level 0-15 zones you should be 35 or so. Then do all the 15-30 zones and you’ll be 50. 60-80 is a breeze. Throw some cooking in there for good measure and you’re set.
You’re only hope is to avoid thieves altogether as a lowbie, so why not just spend a few days leveling up? Why even waste your time with gear concerns until 80?
You make a fair point, and not knowing that I already have 3 lvl 80’s I can see where you would say that. I leveled all of them in PvE, and frankly I’m tired of it. It’s boring, repetitive, and a grind. I’d rather have some fun, and right now I’m finding WvW fun and exciting because it’s so dynamic (relative to PvE anyway). Since I play on a low population server, we’re always the underdog and rushing to save this tower, that keep, our BL….it’s VERY fast paced. Flipping control pts and camps is good xp (as well as joining in on retaking our towers/keeps), arguably as good or better than PvE, but I can’t get much done with a spike through my noggin’……hence my request for guidance from the mesmer community for how to survive against the one class that is causing me issues 1v1.
I realize I’ll likely lose to a “good” thief right now, but since I can hold my own against everything else, I guess I’ll just keep plugging away and learn how to beat them. By the time I’m 80, it should be a pretty even fight. ;-)
The second fastest leveling in the game is done by zerg-surfing in WvW (if you can.) The fastest is by crafting, but it’s also expensive. PvE does not offer enough back to back events to compare. If you’re struggling running supply, then that is an activity you may want to leave to the rest. If you insist on running that supply, then consider the locations you keep getting ganked at. If an ambush is in the same relative spots each time, try taking a different route. Sure it might be a longer run, but you’ll get there faster than if it takes you three tries to get through for one run of supply in the end.
I also agree with the other posters… stack up the stealth, escapes, and blinds (blink, veil, torch, decoy) and so on. Run speed is our biggest issue compared to other professions when running supply. You might consider a pair of minor runes of the air and a pair of minor runes of speed (for +20% swiftness duration) in your set up to extend the length of swiftness from your focus, too. Other runes may be better for combat, but those will help you keep going.
This skill is in fact doing full damage in our testing. The bug seems to be damage floater related where not all floaters appear on this skill.
Jon
thanks,
can you (or anyone else) explain this a bit clearer? I dont understand what this “floater” is…
I believe what he means is the floating text that indicates the amount of damage done by an attack… If I understood him correctly, the attack is doing the expected amount of damage, but it is not displaying the damage with a “floater” indicator accurately all the time.
The question is answered by the OP him/herself. They don’t stack becouse they are different items. Normal ones you get from dailies are soulbound, these however are not.
Guess it’s becouse they tought you mught have a karma hoarder main. It’s actually a feature I think.
When did the Karma Jugs from doing dailies become soulbound? I always toss the jugs from that reward into my bank, and they stack fine regardless of which character completed the daily… this means they can’t be soulbound unless that changed since the last patch, and I just missed it (done the daily on the same character the last few days so I could have.)
Account bound, yes. Soulbound, no. Unless it was changed, of course.
That’s awesome. I run a similar build that I just described in another thread (not to the same detail, but my post was more an example of HOW to develop your own build rather than “here’s MY build, go play it.” I took 10 in Dueling instead of 20, and put the extra 10 to cap out Inspiration (for the heal on shatter.) If I HAVE to shatter, I probably need the extra boost in health it can provide, and the 25 points in Insipiration adds to the phantasm’s damage output. I specifically didn’t want dodge roll clones, because mine is hybrid “reflect” and “phantasm support” and I didn’t want clones destroying phantasms while I’m avoiding damage. I’m glad to see other people had a similar idea, though!
It’s probably better for you to go through and look at the weapons and utilities that fit your play style best, look for traits that enhance those skills, and develop your own build. I’ve reset my build a few times in the last week to try different things. My current build focuses on reflection and phantasm support. I knew I wanted sword and focus for my main weapon set, so I took the cool down traits for both weapons. The focus trait also adds reflection for focus skills, so that is part of my “reflection” theme. Since I had to put 20 points into Inspiration for the focus trait, I looked at what else that line offered and saw some phantasm support opportunity. I went down the deep end and spent 30 for the heal on shatter, and 30 in Illusions for the shatter on self (emergency distortion and fastest cooldown on popping more phantasms.) That left 10 points which were already spent into Dueling for the one handed sword cooldown.
This is not a crit based build, and my gear is NOT ideal for this. I’m using the armor and trinkets from the karma vendor at Melandru’s temple for now. I’m just trying out this build, but so far is it a LOT of fun.
Here’s the final tally on what traits I spent:
30 Inspiration
Vengeful Images – Grants retaliation to Phantasms
Phantasmal Healing – Phantasms grant regeneration to nearby allies
Phantasmal Strength – Phantasms to 15% more damage
Glamour Mastery – Glamour skills recharge 20% faster
Warden’s Feedback – Focus skills reflect projectiles. Reduces recharge of focus skills by 20%
Restorative Illusions – Heal a small amount when you shatter illusions
30 Illusions
Illusionists Celerity – Illusion-summoning skills recharge 20% faster
Illusionary Retribution – All shatter skills inflict confusion
Shattered Strength – Shattering illusions grants you one stack of might per illusion
Compounding Power – 3% more damage for each of your active illusions
Phantasmal Haste – Phantasms recharge 20% faster
Illusionary Persona – Shattering illusions creates the effect on you as well
10 Dueling
Critical Infusion – Gain 5 seconds of vigor on delivering a critical hit
Blade Training – +50 precision while wielding a one-handed sword or a spear. Reduces the recharge of sword and spear skills by 20%
I don’t have a high crit chance, but it’s not a crit based build. I could add more by changing my gear, and I may if I decide to stick with this set up. This is more a gimmick, but it works well for me so far. I chose Sword/Focus and Greatsword for my weapon sets. I also loaded Mirror for my heal (reflect theme, and fast recharge) + Blink (escape tool if needed) + Feedback (reflect theme, and the reason to take glamour mastery) + Null Field (for condition control + another ethereal field.) Mass Invisibility is the elite I run. Those are for WvW. I swap Blink for Portal and/or Veil when running with a zerg and we need one or the other.
For PvE, I swap Blink for Signet of Inspiration, and Null Field for Signet of Midnight for the random boons + longer duration. I also sometimes swap Mirror for Ether Feast for a more reliable heal if I’m getting heavy pressure from not a lot of ranged attacks.
With sword+focus I’m able to lay down a Light Field and use a Leap finisher within it for retaliation stacking. This worked VERY nicely against the flamethrower Molten Alliance veteran mobs in the living story content. They melted like butter on a hot tin roof. If I’m getting too many conditions, I can pop iWarden on top of that same Light Field for some condition removal. The rotation usually goes like this: locate the ranged mob in a group first and pop iWarden. About the time iWarden is about to stop spinning, pop Temporal Curtain to keep the reflect going. If iWarden isn’t ready by the time curtain wears off, pop Feedback, then pop iWarden after the next spin from the current iWarden. Pop curtain again, rinse repeat. Usually 2 iWarden will rotate enough to keep reflect up 100% between spins using Curtain, but fights don’t generally last that long in my experience… Players are a bit smarter, so you have to maneuver more and pay more attention to timing, but most players don’t expect to shoot themselves in the face when they see Temporal Curtain pop up in front of them
For melee mobs, I lay down Temporal Curtain at my feet, use the sword clone, then leap (which adds several stacks of retaliation in short order) then pop iWarden for the extra damage and regen support. In a pinch I’ll shatter for distortion, or use mind wrack for spike damage to finish off a foe, but this is not a shatter build.
Just learn to think of how you want to play or what your goal is with the character then look for the things that help make that happen “better.” Developing your own builds can be lots of fun…

The above build under the second post (continued) for “Support/Bunker” builds seems to be missing a lot of posts to the thread the link points to. I see 3 posts and all of them seem to be replies to posts that are no longer there?
EDITED to correct which section it is under.

Yeah, most of the time I can’t reach them.
If I switch to hammer, I can get to them with #2. How do I keep them in range while I pound on them, once skill #5 wears off?
Thanks.
With mace, you don’t. You can use hammer skill 3 to immobilize (until they use a stun breaker) to gain you a second to catch up. You can swap to sword and use skill 2 to teleport gap close. You can swap to scepter and use skill 3 to immobilize (same issue as hammer skill 3) You can swap to greatsword and use skill 5 to pull them in. You can use utilities that teleport such as Judges Intervention to gap close. Essentially if you’re having issues with them running away, you should look at changing either your main hand alternate set or your utilities to get yourself at least one more gap closer and/or an additional immobilize.
I still prefer mace, because my Norn guardian is themed (drunkard using Moonshine when she hits 80.)
For some reason for the past few weeks ive gotten the message that ive already returned the object no matter where the covered objuect is and I only returned 2 of the 6 needed.
There should be 3 spots in each zone (Wayfarer and Diessa) total. If the spot you check is supposed to give the item you’ve already turned in, it will give the “already returned” message you see. You should keep looking for the other 2 in each area to get the rest. Dulfy has a great guide with pictures showing all of the possible locations on each map. When server resets, the objects often move, so even if it’s NOT the spot you originally found the item at, it’s still the same item with the adjustment, so just keep looking is all I can recommend. I found all 6 and it took patience.
(that link to the build isn’t working for me Kaysyn
For a any well build in wuv wuv you’ll probly want 20 points into Curses so you can cast them @900 range^^
Daggers my favorite, buuht when I feel like jus runing around in/ a zerg with staff and doing as much burst damage as I can i usually go with 30-20-20-0-0~ That way you get your staff cooldown’s, greatermarks, Blind-Chill-Poison Plauge, and 20% damage boost to targets 50% hp or lower^^.
Your wells and staff auto attack will crit for over 1k easily each tick easily if you’re in Zerk^^. (with enough crit damage and those traits you can almost get staffs weakist attack, Mark of Blood to crit for 900ish~)
Mark of Blood also regen’s all the friendly that it’s near too when it triggers, so works well to heal ppl that lead the push if you fight midfield^^
Copy/paste the link works. The breakdown of what I see is this:
Rabid gear with 6x Superior Rune of the Undead.
Superior Sigil of Restoration on staff.
Minor Sigil of Corruption on both daggers (why, I don’t know … maybe didn’t know a superior version exists, and that using it on both is not optimal?)
Weapons are Staff + Dagger/Dagger.
Heal, Utilities, and Elite are:
Consume Conditions
Well of Suffering
Well of Darkness
Well of Power
Plague
And traits are:
0/20/20/30/0
VI Terror
IX Focused Rituals
V Staff Mastery
II Greater Marks
II Bloodthirst
VIII Ritual Mastery
XII Vampiric Rituals
Yep… I’m going to be playing the new character key game to try for mine. I refuse to buy keys from the gem store. I missed the one shield skin in the game that I really REALLY like back at Halloween because of this RNG based calamity, and here we are again. I thought things were getting better with the “buy direct” option at Wintersday, but apparently not.
sigh
Final Rest is not a scythe. But the black scythe should appear along the long wing of the gargoyle.
I don’t think shield mainhand would be good. However, mace off hand might work well.
I don’t like the suggestion of adding a “leap back” portion to an auto attack chain (especially on a ranged weapon.) The problem I see with that is having your auto attack make you leap off an edge when you really really REALLY don’t want to be doing that (think of the harpy jump puzzle portion of one of the Fractal dungeons… shooting the harpy with pistol to make the next few jumps safe would mean jumping to your death on your third auto attack shot.)
I participated in one of the earlier fight clubs and sought out what I think must be your best or at least one of your best eles. Lani I believe. I did NOT look for an easy target! I did not expect to win, but I wanted to learn and get better. I didn’t win in fact, but that fight went on for a very long time and I was proud I held my own for awhile.
One of the runs I was on we joked that it took a small zerg to take out the ele from [Lani]
That ele is fantastic!
If you’re talking about the same thing I’m thinking about, the numbers seemed much more even than that, from my side. Which is why you were able to wipe us when we first entered. We got lucky with a mes that stayed in and was able to portal us up to the top, really, and then a second force came in… So, yeah…. Maybe by the end it was at those numbers
Can’t remember who tried to party, though it was mentioned in mumble at the time, IIRC. Some of that fight was epic, but sometimes only by the fails (yours and ours, both)
The numbers I gave were what I recall from the end. I do think the numbers were smaller at the beginning as you say.
And yes, mistakes were made on both sides, but it was a purring-kitten good fight! I had a lot of fun with that one
Earlier this week Maguuma came into SBI BL and took garrison. This particular event, there were somewhere between 10 and 15 SBI defending and what appeared to be 30 to 40 goombas (affectionate term) attacking. The attack came from the SW outer gate, and into the west inner gate. We (SBI) took out a good chunk of the attacking zerg, at various choke points, but we were still overwhelmed in the end, and mag got in and up onto the roof near the vista.
I was the underleveled shortbow thief that was shooting at the cieling chasing the masses of red tags I could see up there.
Someone from Maguuma tried to party with me. I didn’t accept at the time, because we were in the middle of defending the garrison, but they stopped trying to party after the fight was over when I would have been happy to party up to talk. Not sure if this was an attempt at talking (hey, got some tips for you… or you suck, just give up on WvW… etc) or if this was an attempt to track me. If it was to talk (even to tell me to give up) I’d still like to know what you wanted if that was you. If it was just to track me, sorry I didn’t accept, but that’s why I don’t do cross-server party during a fight…
The Mag person probably doesn’t read these forums, but thought I’d toss it out there anyway.
The invites probably stopped because you can’t select people to invite when they’re dead :\
Ah. I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for the info!

One level 78 exotic since launch…
Unless you witnessed a bug, the only way to waypoint in is to do it when the timer runs down. There is a window of opportunity for waypointing to a contested waypoint, but it’s a small window, and requires coordination (someone watching the timer letting everyone else know to try it.) You can’t just keep waypointing in as a constant stream though. The timer resets and you have to wait again. This gives the attackers time to deal with the current influx and capture the objective. This probably won’t be fixed until they figure out a way to fix the issue of “it only takes one person to contest a capture point.”
Currently, they are extraordinarily expensive weapon skins. If and when we see something better than “Exotic” weapons, Legendaries will be adjusted to match the stats of whatever is higher than Exotic (probably Ascended.) Since that hasn’t happened yet, both statements are true.
Necromancer: Scepter stacks conditions quickly and efficiently, so it is often used in condition builds (with staff as alternate weapon.)
Elementalist: The attacks can be slow to fire, but with timing, practice, and patience, the scepter does quite well for certain tasks. Dragon Tooth is awesome for taking out siege in WvW, for example. Trident is a targetable small-area heal for support. Phoenix does a decent amount of damage in a nice sized area and returns some health as icing on the cake.
Mesmer: poop clones like there’s no tomorrow for shatter fodder. Block is handy in a pinch for a panic switch, and adding stacks of confusion at the right time can be a game changer.
The tool is useful for all of the professions that can use it, but it lends itself to certain play styles. You should look at the skills it offers for each profession and then decide what play style you prefer out of the selection available… only advice I can give.
Wow, the system actually does replace bad words with kitten. Lol! I didn’t know that.
And thus lots of purring ensued.
An excellent example of how to get familiar with using these is to take an elementalist with focus unlocked on all 4 attunements. Start with fire attunement. Lay down a flamewall and stand right on top of it. Quickly switch to earth attunement and use magnetic wave. If you have the utility arcane wave unlocked, use it as well. Time permitting, you can also switch to water attunement and target comet at your feet inside the flamewall. If you did all of those quickly enough, you should have several stacks of might on you from one Fire Field (flame wall) plus all of the Blast Finishers (magnetic wave, arcane wave, comet)
A good demonstration of a leap finisher is a dagger/pistol thief. Use black powder shot and heartseeker to gain stealth. You don’t have to combo off of your own fields. If an elementalist lays down flamewall (or another fire field such as lava font) and a thief uses cluster bomb (short bow skill) as a blast finisher inside that field, the combo will grant stacks of might just the same.
Common combos that are awesome:
fire field + blast finisher = stacks of might
fire field + leap finisher (heartseeker and similar) = fire aura on the person doing the leap
water field + blast finisher = area heal (on top of the healing skill that created the water field.)
You should learn what fields your profession can create and what finishers you have available so that you can maximize your contribution to any team you join.
Also, was he using staff? The Chaos Storm ability can apply fear.
Poison, weakness, chill, or daze. Fear is not one that procs for this skill.
Don’t want to get into the population argument…beaten, quivering hunk of dead horse meat that is…
But I was also confused by our response. I logged on in the middle of that and we only had 2-3 of us on TS that were responding to the ninja. The rest were pugs with tunnel vision on that tower I guess. Calls for defense were ignored. And we were slow to get eyes on where and how many there were.
We may have had more ppl on the map but we had very few ppl paying attention and trying to defend. It shouldn’t happen but it does.
I didn’t notice the emotes….didn’t come from those that were on TS I think….but that happens too. You can’t apply the attitude from some to a whole server. I certainly didn’t feel “superior” at that moment. But was relieved we finally responded enough to stop the ninja at Garrison at least. =/
Just to shed some more light on the situation that day. I was at garrison when the attacks came. The folks that were attacking the SW tower were following a commander tag I’m not familiar with. I don’t know if this was a new commander, or just one that doesn’t show as often during the times that I normally get to play, but I’m going to assume “new.” I was the engineer that liked to drop the mortar and use grenades from the wall, by the way.
Anyway, shortly after the garrison was saved, bay was under heavy attack. That particular commander de-tagged. I didn’t see any comment about leaving the game, taking tag off to take a break, or turn over to anyone else. I saw no communication in that regard. I also noticed that the person didn’t leave the map… so I’m very very confused as to why they would take off their tag during a time when we needed leadership most (get organized to defend a valuable capture point.) This is why I think “new” as mentioned before. There wasn’t a lot of organization or commanding going on that day while I was on
You clearly didn’t read team chat at all, there was a full conversation on it and mumble. The commander explained what happened, why it happened, why they were leaving, and even tried to rally someone else to take over. As I said, the entire point of being on SBI BL was because I was being petty about their actions on Mag BL. It was not a serious attempt and there wasn’t a bit of organization and very little communication. But if you were in mumble you would have heard the commanders hesitation to go for garrison as it was fully upgraded and would require “effort.”
I’m assuming you are confused. I’m from SBI. We don’t use mumble… I was most definitely on the community teamspeak for SBI borderland and there was nothing said about why this particular commander was de-tagging. There was also nothing in map / team chat about it that I could see, and I was watching both.
Oh, my apologies, I thought you were from Maguuma. Holy kitten so the commanders did almost the exact same thing. We’re not so different…. you and I…
No problem. I can see where the confusion came from, now. We have some good commanders on our server, but the time of day was bad timing on our part. One of the good ones had just logged off shortly before things started flipping on the map, and the handful of us on TS were wondering why SW tower was being attacked while it was obvious that more important targets were being flipped by you guys. I had fun in the end, and that’s what’s important (to me) but I’m sorry some of our folks /laughed. The only emote I use is /bow or /wave (depending on whether I’m respecting someone I fought, or hoping to not get facerolled while doing JP, for example.)

There wasn’t a lot of organization or commanding going on that day while I was on
… my birdies? I’ve not seen a single one summoned.
It doesn’t summon a bird that follows you around (like rune of the pirate does.) It summons a bird that flies down, bops the attacker on the head, and flies away. The animation is pretty fast so it’s easy to miss, but the runes work. I’ve got Zho’s armor on my engineer, and that has rune of the flock inherent.
I’ve not been in EB enough to know it, but every BL has 6 camps, 4 towers, 2 keeps, one garrison, 3 skill challenges (one in far northeast and northwest, and one south of south camp). Every capture point is also a POI (so that’s 13.) There is also a POI at the northeast and northwest skill challenges, as well as the krait/quaggan island for a total of 16 POI. There are 10 vistas (one at each keep, one on either side of the south camp, one north of south camp, one at southeast camp, one on a roof near north camp, 2 at garrison, and one at northwest tower.)
Blah …
I’m also probably the worst Mesmer ever in history but I love a good fight.
… blah
I can pretty well guarantee you, you’re not the worst. I have a level 80 mesmer, and that’s proof enough
I want to thank the DR Warrior that was poking around SBI BL north camp yesterday evening for the duel. It’s the first 1v1 I’ve won. I was on a female human mesmer with scepter/focus and greatsword (doing most of my fighting with the latter.) It was a close call on both sides several times, but I finally managed to down you and then out last your Vengeance until you were defeated. PvP is not my forte, but I’m glad we were able to fight, and I salute you for the fun duel.
edit * LOL…NOW I see why the word “kitten” is used so much on this forum…I thought it was the latest buzz word or something….it’s the cursing filter…lol…anyway to turn that off?
It can’t be turned off. The best you can do is learn to read “kitten” in a whole new light when on these forums
Well, when you consider these two things, it only makes sense that it’s dropping okay now:
1) Shadow Behemoth has been bugged a LOT since launch. Bugged = a lot fewer runs on it overall.
2) These two patch notes probably helped:
*Increased the loot rewards on many world boss chests, including the chests in Orr temples and the dragon chests.
*Fixed a bug on certain world boss chests that was causing them to drop fewer rewards than intended. These chests can now only be looted once per day, to encourage players to fight multiple bosses and spread out across the world.
You’ve been getting up to a key every 2 weeks from drops? Do you realize how unusual that is? I’ve gotten maybe 2 keys total and I think that’s a lot more representative. Pretty much you either have to buy them or get them thru personal story. It’s possible to make a character and run thru the human, commoner story line to get the first key. Takes about half an hour to 45 minutes tho, so may not be cost effective.
It doesn’t have to be human/commoner. Any race/class/personal story selection gives a key as reward for level 10 story completion. Human warrior commoner seems to be what most people think is the fastest run, though.
Wait, YOU FOUND “FINAL REST”?! Where did you get it?!!?!?!?!?!?
If you read the hints thread (hints on where it’s at) it drops from Shadow Behemoth chest in Queensdale.
Final Rest doesn’t (really) look like a scythe. Yes, one wing is longer than the other, but there ARE two wings on that gargoyle. It would be cool if the scythe animation lined up with the longer wing, but I’d say (personal opinion, of course) that it’s a minor detail.
Sorry in advance, but it had to be done:
Mounts actually fit the lore to an extent, but that doesn’t mean I think they should be added. The dwarves had mounts in GW1, for example. The healers rode dolyaks, and there was a beast master that would stomp for area knock down. Also, the stone summit leader rode a drake. This gives precedence for the art work, but I still think they should leave the mounts out of the game (or if they add them, make them cosmetic only… no speed boost.)
Engineer with Speedy Kits trait and any kit (but med kit works best … you can just keep hitting 6 and you won’t unequip the kit, it just re-equips it.) Med kit also includes a stimulant that grants swiftness if you want a break from having to reequip the kit as soon as the buff wears off (which means you can stack swiftness to the maximum time cap easily over time.)
I just hope it lets very small guilds participate easily. Our guild has four people total, and not all of us are active to the same degree.
Everyone else I’ve talked to has stated waving is an invitation to leave me alone please. Waving, sitting, etc. shrug
Bowing and/or saluting after a fight are signs of respect to the opponent, though. I guess not everyone uses the same emote signals
But there are still skills that assist in defending your team’s siege against enemy siege. Elementalists with a focus in air attunement can use Swirling Winds to prevent incoming siege projectiles from damaging your cats/trebs/etc. Same goes for Sanctuary cast by a Guardian. Reflects just don’t work (at least they don’t damage the siege/operator, anyway.)
I appreciate the CD or YB necromancer letting me get the skill challenge at the spider queen skill point this last weekend. I waved, got attacked, sat down and got beat on for a bit, but the necro disengaged before I died, and I was able to heal up and start the skill challenge in peace. One vista later, and I had map completion for my engineer on that map. Then I went and helped SBI with building up defense at Hills, and got to shoot a cannon at some folks that were flinging rocks at us with a cat. Fun times! I’m still a failmes / failgineer, but I’m getting less “fail” each time I play.
Anet can make a sub-daily: “Run in a circle around a tree”
And players will open threads “which tree is best suited for this?”
The tree house west of the exit from Divinity’s Reach is best, of course.
Another slow attack / easy dodge is the ballista the Sons of Svanir use along the road in the northern sections of Wayfarer Foothills. Just kill the spawns down below that cliff and then stand your ground watching for the bolt to fire. As soon as you see it fire, hit dodge, and you’ll evade and get credit.
