I have a couple Wintersday backpacks, but I’d rather keep those intact, and I think we need a better, simpler solution. People had been buying plush backpack sets and using the generic back item from those. I don’t know if they still are. But a one-time Living Story back skin should not be soulbound if uncoupled from the application to an existing back item, without the same recourse as other armor and accessories.
I really appreciate the new transmute splitter, but are there any plans to provide a white-quality back item that we can transmute to, to make the skin available account-wide — as we can with other armor and accessories?
Thank you, good answers!
I don’t play dungeons so I have not considered this stat for my armor in the past. With recent changes to champions and pve, is this stat now useful to me? My Magical Infusion will likely go away, and I’m considering replacing it with this stat if it will make a substantial improvement. Thanks in advance.
I don’t see mention of a problem I’m having with Staff #3. It turns my character around 180 degrees from the target and sometimes loses the target. Is it intended to turn the player around?
When my guardian casts Staff #3 (Symbol of Swiftness) during battle, she gets turned 180 degrees away from the target. I don’t think this is working as intended.
Also, when she casts this while traveling, it causes her to stop and make an unintended attack on a nearby untargeted mob.

Last night I got disconnected after 30 minutes of a Scarlet invasion. I could not get back onto a map that had the event going, so got no credit for achievements.
Disconnects are very rare for me. I believe this was not on my end.
I apologize for sounding dense, but I have been trying to research this, as well as reading Dulfy’s guides. I appreciate you all taking the time to help.
I think there’s a disconnect between what I thought Vorpp was saying to me and what I’ve been reading. I thought the Field Assistant achievement was counting “scans” of portals.
1. I’ve completed the witness one.
2. I’ve completed the responder one.
3. The field assistant one is a meta accumulation? 3/5
4. I have closed 1/5 portal invasions, so this one is not complete.
5. The last one is locked for now.
I just don’t see how I could be getting 3/5 if Field Assistant is a total of achievements.
I don’t understand what specifically I need to do to get this achievement. I went to one of Scarlet’s invasions and got 3/5 on this achievement. No guides I’ve seen have clarified this. Does anyone understand this?
Is this when you interact with the orange gear icon?

Mine too, same with character screen glitch. Also, when Iogged into DR there was no ground at all, for about a full minute.
Yes, Stalwart’s Coat is another one. I think Strong Shoes are also, although I’m hearing from others that nothing is unobtainable elsewhere.
Chauncey von Snuffles III. That is all.
It’s too bad this hasn’t been compiled yet. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s cleaning up their bank. Also I think some of the Strong items are story-only. I usually can sift out which are which, but it takes quite a bit of research (wiki, Dulfy, Argos) to check every item. Thanks for your offer. If I find any difficult ones I’ll let you know. From now on, I’ll make notes!
Has anyone come across a listing of which Story rewards are unique armor pieces or weapons? I’m trying to clear out my bank, but don’t want to throw away one-of-a-kind pieces.
I hope enough people see this post, for ANet to take notice of it.
Early Mesmer concept art showed a character wielding a folding fan. This would be an ideal focus weapon! Are there any plans to make one? My mesmer would adore it!
Is there at least a free port to this area, bypassing the Mists?
It is? I didn’t realize that. I know they update every two weeks, but I don’t recall them saying that there are 2 parts to updates.
The notes mention buying Watchknight Tonics with Watchwork currency, but I can’t find anyone selling them. Does anyone know? I haven’t found the Portal Device for sale either.
I love the art and style of the Watchknight Mini, and it has fantastic sound effects, but I think it’s too small (slender) because it appears as mostly blue outline and very substance. I wish I could see her better, because she’s fantastic.
I forgot to mention the masks! They’re fabulous. I never thought my Norn guardian in heavy T3’s would ever get to wear a mask.
Seeing so much negativity on these forums, I have to speak up for those of us enjoying the heck out of this update. Admittedly I’m not playing the Gauntlet aspects; I’m not that kind of player, and I’m really glad there are two tracks of achievements!!
The Crown Pavilion is non-stop fun. The rewards are generous and just keep on coming. Even the overflows are active. The Jubilee achievements and meta-achievement are accessible and well within reach of those of us who are not elite players. The mini is gorgeous and a great motivator. The addition of event dailies is inspired! Please keep doing this in the future. It broadens the options and gives us plenty of time to complete the meta.
I know I’m not alone in enjoying this update. I hope others will speak up too, so ANet hears us. This game is for all of us, not just elites, and some of us appreciate being included, having a chance at the prize.
I’ve had the same problem. The second tower I went to, I traveled by mistake (instead of interacting with the chest), returned, did escort quest, and the chest was open and I got no credit for it . I don’t want to do any more towers until I know there’s a fix.

Speed might be what gives the graceful look. Is seems like AntiGw feels more graceful playing humans, but I’m not sure it’s the slowness that makes the orangutang comparison, or the grace.
As a tall Norn female I’m envious of dainty human females I see skipping and jumping as they travel. When I jump I make an unattractive grunt and move in a ker-plunk way that looks clumsy. So I made a human female to try out the movement, but she also grunts and goes ker-plunk, arms held out awkwardly when she runs. Both were heavy-armor characters.
Does either armor type or character size affect movement animation in terms of gracefulness? (I do know big = slower.) Why doesn’t my human move like a dancer like the others I see? Do tiny humans move more gracefully than tall ones?
Yes. After the wallet is in place, the tokens are no longer physical objects, they are handled the same way that gold, karma and laurels are handled. So like you said, it makes it a lot easier to use them at the vendors as you no longer have to go to your bank to withdraw them.
Tokens have never been physical objects.
Loving the changes.
I am disgruntled on this issue too, but may be coming from a different direction. I prefer the minigame the candidate I don’t want to vote for has achievements for. It doesn’t seem fair to have to vote against my candidate in order to play the game I want.
I set Guild Wars 2 to use my graphics card HDMI sound. So far I haven’t had the problem, although it’s in stereo, not 5.1. Can I conclude it’s the sound card that’s causing the problem?
I don’t know what I’d plug the speakers into then.
Another thought: what does it tell me if I hear the problem with headphones on?
Edit: nowhere to plug in the headphones except the speaker controller. Guess that test is out.

I wish they knew that it generates more player frustration than enjoyment when they don’t provide us with an end-date. Even if they’re making it up as it unfolds, they should keep us more informed.
I’ve already had a long conversation with ANet about my sound issues, tried all their suggestions, provided all the information, and don’t want to pursue that any further. I’m hoping someone else here has had the same problem and might be able to point me in the right direction.
I’ve noticed this primarily in GW2 but have less often had it occur when the game is not running, while listening to music for example. The sound suddenly pops and becomes muffled and static-y. Opening up the game options and moving the quality slider in any direction restores normal sound. However, within seconds or minutes the problem will occur again.
I’ve updated drivers to my Creative X-Fi Xtreme sound card, cleaned and checked connections on my 5.1 speakers, tried all kinds of game option changes, and this never improves. I love the game sound, but the constant problem keeps me frustrated and on edge, rather than relaxed and immersed. I want to fix this once and for all.
If I were to replace something, should it be the speakers or the card?
How long will we have to continue working on Four Winds achievements? Is Monday the last day?
Has there been any official word on how long Fortunes will be dropping as loot? I need to know if I’ll have to resort to buying Catchers off the TP or if I’ll have a couple more weeks to get my own.
Looked again and found what you explained. I was seeing the point breakdown by tier, but missed the requirement breakdown.
My point still stands. I’ve hovered over every darn thing in the Achievement Screen and it does not show the total number needed to complete the highest tier (unless you’re already in the highest tier.) As before, you have to “watch” the achievement in order to get a mouseover with that information. It’s this clunky watch/unwatch rigamarole we have to go through to learn what is needed. This is especially a problem if you’re watching other things and doing this overwrites the items you really want to watch.
If lower tiers are rewarded, then it’s news to me, and I’ve been playing since Beta opened. This would then point to a problem of communicating this to the player. I hear a “ding” sometimes — but the display disappears so fast and doesn’t show up in chat, so I have no idea what I just achieved. Can anyone explain how this works?
It seems to me that most rewards sought by players, such as Daily or Monthly Achievements, titles, Living Story content etc. require all tiers to be completed. Why make those in tiers, if they expire within a short span?
I have never understood why the tiered system of achievements is used at all. By this, I’m speaking of an achievement requirement that once completed, dissolves into a larger requirement. Example: Tier One: 25 events, Tier Two: 50 events, Tier Three: 75 events, Tier Four: 100 events.
It’s incredibly frustrating to have to sleuth through the intentional obfuscation of Tiers to even determine what the actual requirement is. In order to see the total requirement, one must “track” the item, then mouseover the tracked item. There appears to be no way to browse the requirements and actually see at a glance what is required without using the clunky track-then-delete-track process.
Why are tiers even implemented? I’m trying to see Anet’s reasoning, but I can’t imagine any benefit to player motivation, success, or fun. If anything, it disappoints and frustrates the player when she realizes that she’s only completed a portion of what appeared to be the goal. Can someone help me understand the benefit of this system? Or has an Anet representative ever said they’re getting rid of this? I thought I’d seen an intention to remove it stated many months ago.

You do realize you only need to do 4 of the monthly categories to get credit for your monthly?
There’s only 6 monthlies this time around, and excluding WvW and dungeons, which are not everyone’s taste, there’s not much to choose.
My situation exactly. I don’t do WvW or dungeons. Tough month.
Whenever I try WvW to get all these fast kills and stuff I hear about, I end up in a train that goes here, stops, goes there, stops, goes somewhere else, stops, and does nothing. I like not having to fight person-on-person, but fighting something at all would be nice.
These are all great ideas. Thanks folks. I stumbled across one in Caledon Forest, in a level 3 area. He killed me, big mighty level 80 Guardian, haha!
While you say pref not WvW, it’s WvW, on most servers friday before reset it’s karma train and it’s just cappin as much as possible, every tower/keep lord is a champ and you get easy champ kills.
Thanks, that might be worth it!
Thank you for the locations. The wiki does not make finding these easy.
I’m getting really frustrated, trying to get Champions toward my Monthly Achievement. I’m fighting world bosses, getting gold seal and bonus chests but these aren’t Champions? Can anyone suggest a better way to get this Achievement? Preferably not WvW.
- one bump only *
Does the Mini Chromatic Ooze actually change color? I finally bought one and am disappointed that it seems to remain clear-ish, with a blue outline. But I thought I remembered from Beta that they were more colorful. I’m hoping one of you has observed yours enough to share with me how it behaves in terms of color.
I’m only going off what the developer who did it said…
That’s fine, I just wanted to provide more information to the developer in case he didn’t realize the veteran status was affected.
Just here to add that the Veteran Oakhearts in Gendarran Fields are not only small, but no longer veterans. The Daily Achievement does not increment when one is killed.
I would expect it to be fixed at some stage, but it is only a skin issue so it’s not too bit a deal.
No, it’s not just a skin issue. The Veteran portion of the Daily Achievement was not satisfied by killing one.
Today the Veteran Oakhearts in Gendarran Fields are tiny and white and are no longer veterans. I haven’t seen anything mentioned in the updates about this and am wondering if it’s just in the one zone or throughout the game.
I’m also wondering if other types of veterans have been changed as well.

We’ll have real-life jet packs “in the future” too. I wonder how long the delay will be. Thanks for the update.
